Could you write digimon frontier where someone finds/falls into one of Grumblemons burrows? Or just something about him. (He is very underrated)
I tried, but it turned out to be more about Fairymon ops x,x
Takes place after the end of Frontier, when the kids have gone home and the legendary warriors are the new guardians of the digital world:
---------
Winding Tunnels
The ground disappeared beneath Fairymon’s feet. She yelped, fell. Her wings beat behind her, kept her from crashing completely. She landed gently on a secret second ground, hidden below the first. Tilted her head and listened to the sounds of the area. Wind howled, swept through tight corridors. A tunnel. Several even, a whole system. Had a Drimogemon made it to her area? She put her hand to the wall, followed it deeper.
The tunnels went in all kinds of directions. She listened for the wind, let it guide her through them. Through very tight corridors where the wind whistled high notes for her, and through wider tunnels where it was but a whisper. She didn’t know how long she had walked, but her feet were starting to ache.
”What are you doing here?”
Fairymon tilted her head at the voice. Grottomon.
”I could ask you the same thing”, she answered.
The air was a lot more still in this place, the wind quieter. A cave. Fairymon’s wings beat, lifted her from the ground and she flew over to where she could sense Grottomon.
”I found your tunnel in my area”, she explained.
Didn’t land. Grottomon moved around, but didn’t look at her. She didn’t look at him either, but the movements in the air told her where he was. Unthreatening.
”The ground is my area”, he answered.
Simple as that. Fairymon didn’t agree.
”The mountains are your area, not the Soyokaze village and surrounding forest.”
She put her hands to her side.
”We split the world in ten areas to not step on each other’s toes after the incident”, she continued. ”We should all honor that arrangement until the Angels are back.”
”Don’t think I don’t know about you sneaking over to Ranamon”, Grottomon answered.
Fairymon’s cheeks felt hot. She crossed her arms over her chest.
”That’s… a different matter”, she said.
”Uhu.”
He knocked on one of the walls, shuffled around and knocked again, probably preparing for another tunnel. Fairymon sighed. She wasn’t angry and Grottomon obviously though she was.
”I just want to know why”, she said. ”And to know where the tunnels are so no other digimon get lost in here.”
”Are you lost?” Grottomon asked.
There was laughter in his voice. Fairymon clenched her hands, stretched her back to look more assertive.
”Of course not!”
She was so lost, but she could always follow the wind out. Grottomon laughed.
”Faster travel”, he said. ”Been over to The Dark Continent a bit lately.”
”Why are you…”
”Wolfmon and I had some things to discuss”, he said.
What exactly he didn’t say. Fairymon didn’t ask.
”I am not spying on you or whatever you’re implying”, Grottomon continued.
Moved to another area of the room. It was big, Fairymon couldn’t hear the wind reach the walls. It seemed to gather somewhere above her. Probably a vent or something. Maybe she could get out that way.
”My area’s not big enough”, he continued.
They had split the world in ten equal areas. One for each of the legendary warrior, since tensions had been high after the humans left. Fairymon was just about to point it out.
”All Dig-mons are in my area”, Grottomon continued. ”No tunnels allowed anywhere else and they need to dig. The Digmons, the Armadillomons, the Drimogemons. Me. We need to dig, it’s in our data. There’s almost no ground left to dig in here.”
He turned towards Fairymon. She made an attempt to turn towards him as well.
”Some tunnels flooded because the ground under the lake got too thin and now the lake’s gone”, he went on. ”Water’s gone, plants are wilting and everyone is starting to starve. I can’t reach Ranamon because she’s in the ocean.”
Fairymon landed on the ground.
”You should have said something.”
”I’m telling you now.”
He turned away again.
”We’re trying to fix it, but we still need more dirt. More space. Fresh water. Wolfmon’s been supplying some food while we sort it out. Only one of you who’ll speak to me.”
Fairymon laughed.
”Can’t imagine the dark continent is great for him.”
She didn’t know why Wolfmon had chosen that area, and why Löwemon had taken the Forest Terminal and Seraphimon’s castle. It wasn’t her place to speculate, but obviously he felt lonely if he reached out to Grottomon of all digimons. Fairymon walked after Grottomon, followed him for a bit as he knocked on the walls.
”We can help you”, she said after a few minutes. ”We could use a few digmons in my area. And I’m sure the others would also like to help.”
She smiled.
”It’s not a competition, we’re taking care of this world together.”
”Some of us more together than others”, he answered.
But there’s wasn’t malice in his voice, just teasing. Fairymon blushed again and looked away.
”I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
He stopped, she heard him draw something on the wall.
”Anyway, I’ll talk with Ranamon”, she continued. ”And it’s probably time we all met up.”
”Because the last meeting went great.”
The last meeting… Fairymon shuddered. Agnimon and Chackmon had gotten into a fight, followed by Löwemon and Wolfmon refusing to talk to each other. Blitzmon and Mercuremon had done something and then half the building had exploded. Arbormon spent most of the meeting sleeping while Ranamon drew figures on the table. Fairymon had gotten into a fight with Agnimon the moment Chackmon stopped arguing and left. Calling it a disaster didn’t do it justice. Fairymon had no idea what Grottomon had been doing throughout it either.
”Well… We’ve grown a bit since then”, Fairymon said. Hoped. ”We were all still affected by the humans back then. Or the corruption. I’m sure this time it’ll be fine.”
The only one she had spoken to since then was Ranamon, but hope springs eternal. So, she really hoped they would do better this time. Grottomon grabbed something and went back to the wall.
”I can figure it out on my own”, he said. ”Don’t need you all stenching this place up.”
”I’ll send word about the meeting”, Fairymon answered.
Turned around, Now, where was the tunnel she had arrived through? Grottomon laughed.
”Tell me again how you aren’t lost.”
”I’m not lost”, she said.
The air rose to the ceiling. Fairymon’s wings beat behind her, lifted her from the ground.
”Ciao!”
She hoped the hole in the ceiling was big enough as she flew through it. The air guided her, let her know where the walls where so she could avoid them. She still scraped against it in a particular thight spot, but then she felt warmth against her face. Sunlight, a fresh breeze. She was above ground again. She turned, flew back towards the Soyokaze Village. Now she just needed to figure out where they could all meet up.

What if the Batfam (or the Colony as I like to say) communicated via clicks and bird calls?
There were very few birds in Gotham. This is true of all big cities but Gotham more than most, the intense darkness that cloaks it discouraging all but the most determined pigeons and starlings. Still, as any gothamite will tell you, the city was full of bird song. Chirps and twitters, the deep hoot of owls and even the garbled hissing of a nested nightjar, a sound that struck fear in the hearts of all around. Why shouldn't it? The Bats only made that sound when one of them was badly hurt, spelling increased danger for citizens and a vicious attack for any rogue who dare get too close. No one but the Bats themselves understood all their varied calls, a fact which vexed a certain green-clad know it all to no end, but any citizen worth their weight knew at least a few. Some thought this was the only way they could speak. Others disagreed, Nightwing, at least, frequently spoke human languages, though conspiracy theorists tended to write this off as mere mimicry, a theory helped when Nightwing, on being asked, simply laughed like a kookaburra and swung away.
Sometimes, shrieking sounds like bats so high most people could barely hear could be heard when they were around, especially the Black Bat. The standing theory was that it served the same purpose as with the flying rodents that filled the unfeathered sky.

Oooh I like this idea. If there's a yeerk who resembles him enough and can be in the right place at the right time to claim to be Esplin 9466, it could work.
I'm reading Ghost in the Shell right now and Tom just mentioned the lengths the yeerks had to go to in order to keep morph-capable controllers in line during feedings. I know you went into this in more detail during the last fic in the series as well, but I wanted to ask: is there a canon reason the yeerks couldn't just have fewer hosts than yeerks, and stick a 'temp' yeerk in the host's brain while the usual one is feeding?
I can think of some plausible reasons (host's brain needs time off to recover, yeerks can't switch hosts very often without difficulty, cultural objections to sharing bodies with their fellow slugs) and also meta reasons (more angst potential, more interesting this way). But I'm curious what your take on this is. I can't remember if they ever addressed it in-series
Oooooohh. I like this idea, and I would love to see it explored. If Yeerk One inches sloooowly out of the left ear as Yeerk Two inches into the right, then you're right that there could be almost no lag time at all between yeerks. For the morpher hosts especially, that would be dead useful.
Doylist (out-of-universe) speaking, I think we don't see this in canon because we need to see the horror of what the yeerks are doing to their hosts. And if hosts have 0m0s of ability to express what's going on with them, then it runs the risk of seeming like no big deal. Or like there's no meaningful difference between the voluntary hosts and the involuntary ones.
Watsonian (in-universe) speaking, I assume it's not used because of issues of privacy and — let's be honest — corruption. If Eeek 1234 is inside Alloran for a few minutes every time Visser Three needs to feed, then suddenly some random yeerk knows every one of Visser Three's secrets that Alloran knows. Eva knowing about Edriss's human kids gives her tremendous power over Visser One, and Eva's knowledge of the Empire later proves instrumental in the Animorphs winning the war. If some other yeerk is inside of Eva, then that yeerk has that level of intel and power over Visser One too.

Incoming Marble Sky theory about the Marmors' origin planet and more! Spoilers ahead!
I think if we ever get to see their original planet, it might be a dark place (literally and metaphorically), with hives or cities built within ant-like cave systems. Their society also seems to work like those of ants with a queen (Moon), workers and drones.
I think the fact that the Marmors use a form of ecolocation rather than our traditional eyesight might imply that on their original planet, sight as we know it is not a viable option. Their planet might either have little to no light, making eyes redundant, or too much, which would also cause the same problem. I think their fur coloring might also be proof of this, as they seem to display bright colors with no patterns. (Patterns usually help animals, especially predators, blend into their environment, because a blotch of a single color is usually easy to spot). However, there is also a possibility that their coloring might be a result of them becoming the dominant species: We see this with domesticated animals- think cows or cats, with white patches of fur, that make them easier to spot. When colors no longer affect their survival, new color variations tend to pop up.
I also think the fact that they are bipedal (with tails) also tells us that like humans, they might have started walking on all fours and then went up. This allows the brain to become larger, because the neck can hold up more weight, boosting their intelligence. Animals that walk on all fours are usually limited in this aspect because the neck muscles do all the work, so their heads can't get heavier.
The existence of tails might imply that those are still required for balancing purposes. Humans used to have tails but we kinda didn't need them and they went away, but the tail bone still exists. The fact that Marmors still needed them might imply that they still had to climb a lot in their original planet - maybe they live on trees (there's some ants that build their hives hanging from them! Super cool tbh) or they build their homes on cliffs/mountains.
I personally think them living in mountains or cave systems is the more likely option. In the comic we have already gotten the comparison with ants, who tend to build their little hives with tunnel systems going in all directions. This would make their tails useful for climbing, as well as their special eyesight and connections useful for navigating the hive. I mean, a connection like the one we have seen in the latest update is not only useful for hunting but also for their hives, as they can quickly figure out where more "manpower" is needed vs where there's already enough of them in one place.
Also, they have both sharp claws and teeth. Obviously those teeth are stylized in the comic, but they seem very very sharp. Definitely made for ripping and shredding. So it's very likely that the Marmors are obligate carnivores, meaning that, unlike dogs or bears, they can ONLY eat meat. I mention this because those claws would also be useful for hunting and disabling prey BUT connecting this to the cave system theory: Those claws are big and sharp, whoch might also be useful for digging. The giant anteater, for example, has some seriously sharp claws. This thing does NOT hunt other animals, besides ants and termines lmao, but uses those sharp claws to dig into the really hard ground. And those claws are SHARP, boy. They use them regularly to wars off and ERASE jaguargs. Yes, jaguars. So maybe these sharp claws might be tools AND weapons for the Marmors, useful for deleting your prey and digging into the ground!
Going back to the ant comparison: ants society usually has a queen, her simps, and the worker ants. The queen lays the eggs. If those are fertilised by the male drones, they become female workers but if not, they become male drones (the simps lmao). Ecliptica mentions that she is tall because she is a female AND the center of their network. Obviously these are aliens, but I think we can draw parallels: she might be their queen, the only one that reproduces -which would also explain their "children belong to everyone and noone" attitude"- while the rest might simply be the workers. I say workers, even if they are male, because I think the drones might actually be something else. We have seen smaller Marmors like Shepherd's assistants. Now, they might just be small or younger, BUT they could also be the lower ranking drones.
So, to sum up: I think Marmors come from a planet with little light, where they build their hives/societies in ant-like cave systems, digging into the ground. They might also have an ant-like society, that revolves around their queen, the workers and the lower ranking drones, where everyone but the queen is a male.

Merlin has magic ecolocation and has a mental sonar that reflexively picks up on all telepathy and lets him follow the sound of it and this is just. somehow never really mentioned again. Telepathy snoop Merlin. a group of sorcerrers mentally plot an assassination somewhere in the lower town and he, exhausted, pops into their head and tells them to leave forever, unless they want him (they do NOT know who he is) to pay them a visit. He steers a hunting party away from a druid camp because, even from hundreds of yards away, he can hear them. He hears prayers, probably. He greets visiting druids ands warns them of guard rotations and spies in the lower town. normal guy godling thing.

The Outsiders Mythical Creature Headcanons. because i positively cannot keep this to myself any longer
Tumblr media
[The Curtis Bros:]
-Centaurs (because I couldn't just NOT take that opprotunity)
-Their house is HUGE by human standards, but small by centaur standards
-(Edit: all the curtis brothers were gonna be 10 feet or taller but I reaslised how FUCKING MASSIVE 10 feet+ is)
Darry:
-his bottom half is a Clydesdale horse
-Darry is 7'5
-Still works in contruction, but tends to haul around heavy equipment more often than not
-Stomps on the ground really loud with his front hooves to get people's attention
-..Chest hair. Lots.
-Ties his tail up in a bun so it doesn't get in his way while hes working
-Socs tend not to mess with him cause he could buck them into next tuesday
Sodapop:
-his bottom half is a thuroughbred
-Sodapop is 7 feet tall
-Tends to work outside when at the DX because hes big and he likes it better outside
-a bit easier for socs to mess with, as long as you're in front of him
-prances and marches around all fruity (I know what you are, Sodapop.)
-his tail is his baby, he would die before messing it up
Ponyboy:
-Bottom half is a paint horse
-Ponyboy is 6'3
-On the track team but Darry always tells him to "go easy" on the non-centaur kids (he only listens because he'd actually leave half the other kids in the dust)
-Trains for track like a madman, if he doesn't have something to do he's doing laps around the backyard (probably while reading, fuckin showoff)
-Socs find him easiest to pick on, but its still hard because you've gotta get him down before you can do shit
[The Greasers:]
Johnny:
-Merman/sea creature
-is able to breifly get out of the water but he doesn't really do it much because, well, he cant walk
-His scales kind of look like denim
-The scar on his cheek is actually from a fishing hook that accidentally got stuck there
-The others built a little river that connects to a pond next to the curtis house/barn so he could hang out with them, they probably mske him a stupid little fish tank inside the house that they can just carry him to
-sharp teeths :3
Dally:
-Vampire (but like, he can go in the sun and wear silver because vampire rules are lame)
-Red eyes in the dark, white in the sun
-Throws late night parties with any other nocturnal creatures he knows
-Usually drinks animal blood or eats raw meat in replacement of human blood (but if he gets his hands on human blood he wouldn't necesarily be upset..)
-knows ecolocation
Two-Bit:
-Gorgon/Medusa-like fucker
-Why? it's just a feeling, really. And Two-Bit seems like the type of guy to like snakes
-THE SNAKES ON HIS HEAD ARE RED CORNSNAKES AND YES HE'S NAMED ALL OF THEM.
-Blindfolded most of the time so he doesn't turn the others to stone, he can only imagine what the others look like, when Ponyboy wrote his essay (don't ask how johnny ran away and stabbed a kid without being able to walk, maybe it was a 'write a fictional story' essay instead of 'write about an expirience) he actually liked it a lot because it gave him an idea of what the others looked like
-Probably has a walking stick if he isn't helped around by other greasers
Steve:
-Half-minotaur/bull-human type hybrid
-Covered in piercings. It might just be a bull thing but he has earings, nose piercings, septum piercings, piercings on his chest and horns. Bro goes CRAZY
-The only person allowed to ride on Sodapop's back (for convinence, they say.)
-His mom was a human and his dad was a minotaur
-Stamps his feet in place when hes bored or irritated (like a child)

i have a long list of questions- but I’m just going to drop off a few right here so it’s not going on forever:
What is the natural diet of a Mer baby? Do they eat something easier to eat than fish?
Can Mers talk? There were a few comics of Sun and moon flirting with Y/N- so I was curious. If Mers can talk is it easier for girls to talk since they have a wider sound range?
What human foods can mers eat without getting sick?
If Y/N was getting told off how would the boys react?
What are their favorite foods?
What do think Y/N would look like as a Mer?
Can we get more information on Sun and Moon’s siblings?
Sorry about the list! Just curious. Please feel free to ignore!
Hey, no worries. I love wracking my brain about world-building, I'm happy you guys like it so much :}
What is the natural diet of a Mer baby? Do they eat something easier to eat than fish?
Baby Mers eat anything they can get their hands on. But usually they eat fish, crabs and squids. To make it easier to eat, their parent chew their food first.
Can Mers talk? There were a few comics of Sun and Moon flirting with Y/N- so I was curious. If Mers can talk is it easier for girls to talk since they have a wider sound range?
Mer cant learn how to talk, they don't have the anatomy for it, but they can learn to understand it. However there have been rumors and legends of humans learning how to understand Mers.
What human foods can mers eat without getting sick?
Meat, fish and some greens. Anything that is non prossed, with exeption for some sweets and other foods.
If Y/N was getting told off how would the boys react?
:)
What are their favorite foods?
Salmon
What do think Y/N would look like as a Mer?
Uhhhhhhh their scales would be silver-gray and shimer blue in the light. That's all I have for you.
Can we get more information on Sun and Moon’s siblings?
The three that are most important are Mantaray (Ray), Sky and Shell.
Ray is the oldest and first of the adopted siblings. He has the lower body of a Mantaray and has taken on the role of older brother since Sun and Moon's abduction.
Shell has the lower body of a Lemonshark and is the most protective about her siblings and even Eclipse. She joind the family after they found her wounded and alone in a destroyed reef.
Sky was given to the family as an egg by her mother. Her father died shortly after her egg was laid and the mother didn't want to abandon it. She is blind but very good with ecolocation. Her fins are overall flowy and she is different shades of purpule.
Glad to answer your questions :}

What is the other reason for the sea being fresh water?
Do they have rain? Or better: how different is their weather?
i did say one of two factors in that linked post didn't i... but i don't remember what i meant by that 😭 i wrote it a year ago and my mind is blanking
it is probably a reference to rain or the end of the last ice age causing a worldwide flood event, that would be my best bet. in terms of weather well it depends on the region, how close to the equator etc but as a rule the humidity is high everywhere except the dry areas in the eastern continent, and rains are extremely frequent (again, except for the dry areas... they are in fact above cloud level, so no rain) it's not uncommon for there to be daily rain in most of the world.
i'm not as well-versed in weather as i am in water stuff so i've played it safe and decided that it is very earth-like. the formation of the land (being in a lot of very tall narrow ridges in some places) probably effects rainfall, i could imagine there being permanent rain shadows on one side of the larger mesas. the ridges also trap wind and prevent it from propagating which is what contributes to most of the water being relatively still most of the time
the sky has a slight greeny tint just for flavour, and the water is nearly always turbid brown/green except in areas of deep and continuous sea (basically 'the dark' area labelled on the map)
because so many people live underwater, they experience weather a little bit differently to people who live overwater, and have a whole bunch of their own special underwater weather events, like blinding whiteouts of marine snow that scatters ecolocation, sudden currents that may develop in response to tectonic activity, and nutrient fluctuations causing blooms and die-offs of aquatic plants.

Raine’s Palisman was a bat because bats use ecolocation and Raine’s powers use sound, plus their ears look like bat ears. Raine loved their bat palisman a lot and they think it’s probably dead, however it escaped with Darius’ palisman and they’re out there in the world somewhere. This is canon bc I said so.
