I genuinely wish that when I first found Dr stone I dove into that obsession, like I initially found it when the first season got released and I watched parts of it cause my sister did and then the stone wars came out and my sister and I were supposed to watch treasure island immediately after but time passed we were both busy and didn't even watch it until late 2024 (im talking like the very end/early 2025).
That kinda kicked my obsession into it cause I now study biochem and psych and gosh damn falling fully into that rabbit hole a couple years ago would've put stuff into perspective for me and made me so much more motivated to study more. I love the characters, I love the story, I love the plot gosh I love everything about this. It feels like such a big part of my soul now and maybe I found it at the perfect time because its genuinely made me more motivated to learn everything I can.
This is just a silly tangent but I don't think I'll ever love an anime like I do this, every thing about it seems so perfect to me all the characters are so well written that I obsess over each of them every other hour. I love science and STEM subjects have always been my favourites and the way the manga/anime uses science is so cool (especially now cause I get to yell out every so often I KNOW THAT) I'm not really going anywhere with this I just need people to know how amazing this amime is cause even when it seems just like a sci-fi show it has so many other subjects crammed into it that I've become so obsessed with knowing.
#dr stone#dcst#dr. stone#drst#i just want it to be known i adore this show#it means a lot to me for reasons i still dont know#chem has been a pain recently but seejng how much there is to know... im getting so excited but it#ugh and bios been awful but ive been reading the manga and Lunas appearance has made me so hyped#not tryna go into medicine but still

long and spoiler-y and messy summary of my many thoughts on HI3rd Part 2 Chapter 7:
first of all, what the fuck, Helia??
second, the snowy battlefield scenes were probably the single most fundamentally "Honkai" story scenes that Mihoyo's written in like... the last 4 years or so.
Like, I don't think Mihoyo's ever gone that far before to show us just how deadly Honkai (or in this case, the "Calamity") truly is to the average soldier, and even the "supersoliders".
In most of Honkai's story, we follow incredibly powerful and skilled characters. Even in her weak moments like in Arc City, Kiana still had extraordinary endurance and stamina. And we rarely actually ever fought alongside ordinary valkyries. The only two instances I can think of would be Arc City and Coral City, and both of those were from the perspective of said super-powerful valkyries fighting alongside the weaker troops.
But here, on that snowy battlefield... it was something completely different.
The battlefield ambience with the audible & visible cannonfire in the background, the burning buildings, the corpses of civilians and soldiers alike amidst swarms of monsters... visually, it still has the style of an anime gacha game, but I could close my eyes and just listen to the sound and picture the scene in my mind so, so viscerally.
It gives me all the same feeling that I felt all those years ago when I played games like Halo: Reach, which had a similar "squad of elite soldiers fighting swarms of monsters on a dying world" theme but with a gritty & realistic visual style and writing.
This might've been one of the most well-constructed visual sequences in almost all of HI3rd's gameplay stages. Obviously cinematics would look prettier, but when talking about *actual gameplay* where you control a character, I don't think anything else comes even close to being so immersive of the scene that the story is telling to us.
For once, it really felt like this was a WAR. not a superhero comic book, but a story of ordinary humans struggling violently in vain against a greater power, incomprehensible to all.
third, to reiterate and also elaborate: what the FUCK, Helia!?
That was an absolute roller-coaster of emotions, especially because I did the first 2/3rds of Chapter 6 last night and saved the rest of Chapter 6 & then all of Chapter 7 for tonight. So I had only a brief break to do some other stuff at the end of Chapter 6 and dove right into Chapter 7, and had to process all of those feelings and scenes one right after the other. no giant several-week break to process everything T_T
Obviously Coralie's death was spoiled for me like a month and a half or two months ago, because CN server is far ahead and because it happened at the end of last version. But I still didn't expect it to play out THAT way, which came as a shock to me because I somehow didn't come across that specific part of the spoilers.
And the entire character arc Helia went through (well it seems like she's still got a ways to go) was just... holy shit. good lord. Mihoyo, what have you done!?? (/pos)
I don't really know if I'd call Helia a hero or a villain, or if it's even possible to cram her into that dichotomy at this point. I guess antihero might be the best way to describe her, but even that doesn't quite feel right.
It's clear to me that even if she somehow ends up "back to normal" in the future, she's obviously never gonna be quite the same. But I'm incredibly intrigued as to just how Wrong™ she'll end up being at the end of all this.
Like, even after all that she went through she reaffirmed her duty as a Valkyrie and her desire to avoid innocents, but she also still has that growing lack of empathy and cold attitude. She's no longer quite so mindlessly fanatical, but I find it hard to imagine she'll ever become so upright and kind as she once was.
So I honestly can't say I see her becoming a villain that would ultimately threaten the rest of the cast and bring harm to Luoxing or Earth... but I doubt she'll ever truly fit in with the ideal of a hero that she's always longed to be.
I'm sure there's still SOME potential development that will bring her into a "heroic" state, especially she ultimately hasn't ever committed such a grave sin as murdering an innocent person (unlike a certain Definitely Not Helia™ we've met). I'm sure she COULD still end up idolizing Durandal and striving to be a great Valkyrie.
But it also feels like there's a different path for her that none of the rest of the cast would dare to take, a path that doesn't bring her into being an antagonist but which still deviates far from the model Valkyrie we've been shown for all these years (from Durandal to Rita to Kiana and so on).
I honestly really like this sort of "cold but still fundamentally just" version of Helia. She's flawed but still willing to do what is right, even if she is doing it for entirely selfish reasons now.
In a way she now reminds me a bit of Lantern, but in an almost more cruel way. Lantern was always a dangerous person when on the hunt, but outside of her narrowly-focused combat mindspace she was always fairly calm and even gentle at times. Helia feels like a more chaotic and reckless form of Lantern now, and I really like seeing that because it's such an incredible contrast to all the other Valkyrie stuff we've seen before.
Point being, I absolutely ADORE this story arc and I'm blown away by just how far Mihoyo diverged from the stereotypical image of what a Valkyrie is supposed to be. We've had so many characters in the Hoyoverse (whether Honkai or Genshin or ZZZ) that were antagonistic or villainous at times, but I don't think we ever had any that were as unfeeling as Helia was in this story arc.
It's hard to find the exact words for it, but as someone that's played through nearly all of the story for Genshin, and Star Rail, AND ZZZ, not a single character felt like they hit quite the same antihero/villain vibes that Helia has hit in this story.
And to clarify, I'm NOT counting the scenes of the snowy battlefield as being explicitly "Helia". I know that those aren't the true experiences of Helia Erdös, after all.
But even when we just look at her behavior in the Dreamseeker system, when it's actually Helia in control, there's so much more cruelty in her behavior now: cruelty to herself, and to a lesser extent to others. It's her willingness to harm herself for power, and her contempt for others who stand in her way, and the way she has become so comfortable with battle now.
I really want to see what's going to happen next time she interacts with Durandal, now. I think what'd be most interesting to me personally is if Helia ultimately reaffirms her duty & identity as a Valkyrie, but completely drops any pretense of wanting to become a "hero" like Durandal.
A version of Helia where she doesn't even try to pretend to truly care about other people, but who will still fight for all that is beautiful in the world regardless of what others think of her. Someone who grows composed and calm but in a way that is not so much tranquil and peaceful, but rather cold and calculating.
If Coralie truly does come back, I can't help but wonder how she, too, would react to this new Helia. I imagine she'd still care for Helia, but it might be difficult for her to come to terms with this. It'd probably be upsetting for her, but perhaps Helia would find a way to connect in a more genuine manner with Coralie despite the change of heart she's had.
It's just... a lot. It's been a lot to process, I still need more time to process it, but I wanted to get these thoughts out now.
Though, at least I finally caught up w/ the story and found the motivation to share these thoughts before the next story comes out on CN.
Can't wait for the CN server to update and get their new story and for the rest of us to get flooded with more spoilers, weeks before we get to play the story for ourselves. yippee! /violentlysarcastic
When all is said and done, I really enjoyed these last two chapters. I still ultimately hold the opinion that Part 2 should've been a standalone game, but I can still appreciate what great work Mihoyo has done with Part 2 as-is.
I really enjoy that dynamic with Helia and Coralie, and all that Helia's gone through with Coralie now. This really might end up being one of my favorite story arcs, up there along with the SSHC arc, Arc City, Thunders Over Nagazora, etc.

Divine Warriors
Here is some info dump about MCD's Divine Warriors in my rewrite, not all of this is known to the public of the mortal realm (especially the stuff about Shad.)
Irene the Matron: There isn't much known about Lady Irene's past, the only evidence they have are the scriptures Enki had written. Though most were burned. It is a common concept that she grew up in a small village (later Scaleswind) in Ru'aun. born from the ash of a god they say. She is incredibly strong, having healing magicks and the ability to bring those back from the dead as well as other abilities (mainly dimensional), Irene did not have a weapon. She can also change her form into a man but she rarely ever did this and it's said that she hated the form. After her disappearance (presumed death) which was 40 or so years after the fight with Shad. She was worshipped more commonly, which her worship later became widespread. Irene is worshipped as the god of medicine/health, the afterlife, agriculture and hope. She is associated with doves (because of her wings) and lavender, around churches and royalty/nobles homes, you will see statues of doves and fields of lavender. It's said that natural forming fields of lavender are places blessed by Irene. Although mainly worshipped in Ru'aun she is seen and heard all over the world.
Menphia the Fury: She grew up in Tu'la near the capital, one of the very few in Tu'la who was human. Menphia came from a well off noble family, she was a strong girl who could wield almost any close combat weapon. She became one of the princesses' guards at the age of 19. There was a rumor that Menphia and the princess were having an affair but it was never denied nor confirmed. She became a protector of Irene and later one of the Divine Warriors, she also had a pet tiger. Her magicks are very limited but they consist of strength and speed. Menphia used multiple different close combat weapons (swords, maces, battle axes, etc). She died during the fight with Shad to save Enki. She is worshipped mainly in Gal'ruk and Tu'la and usually by guards or soldiers. She is worshipped as the god of rage, strength, war, and courage. She is associated with tigers and fire. Her statues always have a tiger at her legs.
Shad the Destroyer: Not much is known about Shad at all, Enki himself destroyed practically everything that he had written about Shad. Them and Irene were close, the common conception was that they were lovers. Irene and Shad had a fight because he was a danger to mortals. Irene sealed Shad deep inside a mountain for 10 years, he later escaped and caused havoc. Although Irene and many of the other warriors had pushed her to their breaking point it was Shad himself who decided to be spiteful and become the Shadow Lord. Xavier was the first ever shadow knight. Their magicks consist of strength, telekinesis, and break dimension barriers. She can change their form much like Irene, to a woman, man, or a form of neither. He seems to enjoy this unlike Irene. Many depictions of Shad are different in gender because of this. Very few mortals worship him but she is seen as the god of deception, chaos, death, and tragedy. He is commonly associated with crows and lily of the valleys.
Enki the Keeper: Enki had many journals detailing both his and the other warriors lives yet he either burned most or hid them away, very few were actually found. He grew up in a home of warriors in Gal'ruk but despite this he became a scholar. He is known to have been in love with many, Menphia, Irene, Esmund's brother. Likely Xavier too. He was born without any magicks but he did know a bit of witchcraft. His abilities after getting a relic were; un-human observation, speed, and levitation. Enki barely fought but when he did he used an ink brush (much like Qiu Yongsi from Tianbao Fuyao lu). Enki died 5 or so years after the battle with Shad. He is worshipped in Gal'ruk and is a common figure head for literature. He is the god of; ink and paper, literature, language, and love. Enki is commonly associated with owls and snow.
Esmund the Protector: Much is known about him as he was the eldest son of one of the most well known historians, Ruthin Ro'meave. He grew up in Ru'aun, he became a guard and later became a Divine Warrior. Esmund was commonly known for his beauty that rivaled Irene's. He was deeply in love with Irene which caused a strain between Irene, Shad and Esmund. His younger brother was horrifically injured during a battle while under Shad's watch which caused Esmund to become even more resentful of Shad. Despite wanting to help defeat Shad he decided to stay behind and protect. He died 30 years before Irene's disappearance. He is worshipped in Ru'aun usually by Lords of villages seeking protection. He is the god of; protection, safety, loyalty, victory, and family. Esmund is associated with shields and jewlary.
Kul'zak the Wanderer: They grew up near the docks of Tu'la, they were a meif'wa. They helped with travel when ships docked on Tu'la. Kul'zak was the first Divine Warrior after Irene, and a nomad. They were a very good bard and a little mischievous. They were the oldest of the Divine Warriors and the one to have kept them all together. After the Divine Warriors split they traveled and spoke of legends for 10 years before dying. Unlike the other Divine Warriors they aren't worshipped in one place, they are worshipped as the god of; travel. merchants, alcohol and music. Kul'zak is associated with intoxication and the flute.

Vs Shows Recap: June 2025

Fan War
Sakura vs Yuri (Street Fighter vs Art of Fighting)
Release Date: 7th of June
Link: https://youtu.be/ymCRNZGMq7A
Mini-review: The show has the kind of technical polish indicative of a low budget, but if you can look past that it’s fine, the analysis feels like they gave a decent rundown of these characters, and the animation was fast paced the entire way through. The analysis was strange, especially the argument of a teleport nullifying a speed advantage (which reads to me as a misunderstanding of what’s actually important about speed in a vs debate), but overall the conclusion seemed fair enough beyond the confusion of the peak potential being talked about before the “standard” power.

Fan Battle
Doctor Octopus vs Viktor (Spider-Man vs League of Legends)
Release Date: 8th of June
Link: https://youtube.com/watch?v=ZVos-jLes04
Mini-Review: The analysis dug into the characters decently well (though there’s no avoiding missing some stuff for Otto due to the sheer bloat a long running franchise like the MCU has), dove into their abilities and powers rather well. The animation was fine enough for Fan Battle’s style, and I can’t really argue with the conclusion. It’s depressingly one sided, but that’s still a, well, conclusive conclusion.

Death Battle
Wile E. Coyote vs Tom Cat (Looney Tunes vs Tom & Jerry)
Release Date: 22nd of June
Link: https://youtu.be/6BDk8SyGMNo
Mini-Review: A very funny episode, definitely fits the silly feeling and stylings of the cartoons these characters come from. And the analysis sections, in turn, do provide a narrative framework for the characters while still focusing mainly on the goofy stuff they’ve built up over the years. I agree with the winner, but I’m not entirely sure about their arguments for said winner. Ah well, still a very fun episode by the end.
---
Episodes I missed last month:

Realm of Gods
Ryuji vs. Joey Wheeler (Persona vs. Yu-Gi-Oh)
Release Date: 2nd of May
Link: https://youtu.be/5SK4rdXw-64
Mini-Review: Truth be told, this just isn’t my kind of fight, so it’s hard to really like it for that. Despite that, the analysis worked fine enough, and the animation, while a bit stilted, did portray some semblance of strategy (although it also showed moments of baffling decisions, like Joey summoning a monster with a passive effect, making a moment of showing off that passive effect, and then immediately sacrificing it to summon another monster for, I guess, the iconography). The conclusion was fine enough, though it didn’t sell me on the match-up being quite close enough. Sorry to hear about Dormonos having dropped off the internet, though.
---
Other older shows I have yet to cover an episode of (covered for the same reason I covered such episodes last recap):

Crossover Colosseum
King Boo vs Gengar (Super Mario Bros. vs Pokemon)
Release Date: 31st of October, 2023
Link: https://youtu.be/dMGY2eltWNA
Before I give the mini-review, I’d like to mention that the show seems to be coming back under a new team, so keep an eye out for their revival if you want to see Crossover Colosseum again.
The show’s (former) closure is also why the analysis isn’t in the episode proper, and is instead a link in the comments section.
Mini-review: The animation is quite fun, and captures the chaotic fun of a silly Halloween themed match-up quite well, and they know how to keep upping the stakes. My biggest complaint in the animation is definitely the army fight, which felt like it had the worse choreography and the worse pacing, both sides just running at each other until the leaders decided to change into their “costumes”. As for scaling, I’m left confused at the standards needed to get a stat considered applicable for this show, and I hope that’s resolved when the show comes back.

Final Round
Aang vs Po (Avatar vs Kung Fu Panda)
Release Date: 9th of March, 2025
Link: https://youtu.be/Mh9t2D1GMlw
Analysis portion available here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7bKpoTEajcf1_BpQpFjkgA/community?lb=UgkxEi3UvISy9SQDf2PFFUmfxuRaBpkxt2HW
Mini-review: For the financial budget that went into this show (and thus the limitations of the sprites used), I’d say the animation is choreographed decently - though some sections still feel a little slow or like one character just stands around and lets the other hit them. The analysis (besides being something I had to dig up instead of being in, say, a reply to a pinned comment on the video itself) is incredibly barebones, especially the experience category which doesn’t really give anything. Skill? General intelligence? No, just raw experience, and only from one side.

Showoff Showdown
Arzette vs Asha (Arzette: the Jewel of Faramore vs Wonder Boy/Monster World)
Release Date: 22 of June, 2024
Link: https://youtu.be/_v2zXYj9dtQ
Mini-review: I don’t like the style used for the animation, buuut since it’s clearly an homage to Arzette, which itself is an homage to CDi Zelda, I guess that’s mission accomplished, since it is exactly that. As for the debate, I’m not sure about the logic used for the multipliers and speed calcs, and those are kind of important to determining the result, so, while I have no idea on who I’d say wins, I’m not sure how much I trust the result. So uh… Yeah, that’s the mini-review.

Smash Bracket (concluded)
Dark Pit vs Dark Samus (Kid Icarus vs Metroid)
Release Date: 2nd of March 2024
Link: https://youtu.be/C8RM-FdOCw8
RIP Smash Bracket, I hope the host has been recovering well. The show’s closure is also why the analysis is in the description rather than the episode itself.
Mini-review: The animation was fine enough, nothing exceptional but there weren't any problems I found with it. But I really heavily disagreed with the stats presented, and I can never quite understand what the cut-off point for their rules is (especially when Kirby’s calc in an earlier episode just casually violates that cut-off point into dust) let’s just say that this is far from a unique instance for Smash Bracket. I found it especially baffling when they talked about how speed doesn’t matter for Dark Samus, only to then deem speed an important factor in the conclusion.

Thunder Clash
Infinite vs. Shadow Mewtwo (Sonic the Hedgehog vs. Pokemon)
Release date: 5th of September, 2024
Link: https://youtu.be/ZDuMORNVnMM
Mini-review: This one’s a bit interesting in that it doesn’t cover stats until after the fight, only giving a surface level overview in advance. As for the fight animation, I think it’s got some rather flashy sequences and good fight choreography, despite some technical issues - however, it’s characterisation is pretty abysmal, seemingly hyperfixated on making the characters as edgy as possible (especially given Shadow Mewtwo doesn’t even talk/telepathically communicate). That being said, dunking on Infinite is much appreciated, and the ending is rather interesting. As for the scaling, boy, that sure is some scaling. Let’s just say that the winner was incredibly, massively overscaled.
Currently has a fundraiser active for their second episode, if you want more then feel free to donate here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/thunder-clash - worth noting that it’s been open for more than a year and has yet to meet its goal, so if you’re concerned about it being still in use I understand.

Fan-Made Death Battle (one-off)
Mario vs. Sonic (Super Mario Bros. vs. Sonic the Hedgehog)
Release date: 19th of October, 2024
Link: https://youtu.be/0DAepAGsqys
Mini-review: The analysis was pretty fun and bouncy, giving a fun vibe to the characters and their adventures while building up the absurdity of not just what they’re capable of, but just the sheer variety of stuff they’ve been in. The animation was alright, though I do feel the set-up for the fight was pretty poor. As for the results… Yeah, it’s pretty good. Goes into enough depth to make the conclusion pretty clear.
Even though it’s a one-off, I think it’s pretty good for what it is, and I think more people should-
“Jeez, I hope the episode never gets popular.”
Oh. Uh. And judging by the comments being frozen, it looks like that was the case.

Just want to thank you for being active in the anisoka community. I was ten when tcw came out and deeply in love with Hayden (and let’s be real, projecting a bit) and it was something I was into from a young age. Back then it wasn’t harmful, most people were either cool with it or into it, which is a full 180 to now.
Anyways now in my 20’s it was fun to revisit, especially with Vader/Ahsoka fics set during the rebels period where she brings him back to the light (which seems to be closer to your experience with it), so on behalf of one of the OGs, thank you for keeping it alive! ~
Aw, you're too kind! You absolutely brightened my day, thank-you!
Yeah, when I come down on gross TCW-era Anisoka stuff, I'm not referring to fans who are themselves in their tweens/early teens and don't know any better. I completely get being that age and projecting onto Ahsoka, and not seeing any issue with her and Anakin being together at that point.
(I'm so sad I wasn't really a SW fan when I was younger, I would've adored Ahsoka from the get-go. Lucky you getting to grow up with TCW!)
I do feel a little lonely, sometimes. Being an Anisoka fan can feel like being stuck between SW fans calling you a disgusting pervert, and SW fans who are disgusting perverts and are way too into Ahsoka when she's under-age. It's always lovely to hear from a true Anisoka fan! xx
...do I sense a chance to shamelessly self-promote? I think I do!
My Star Wars muse is currently under the weather, so I haven't uploaded any SW content on AO3 in a while (sorry guys!), but here are all my posted fics that feature Anisoka.
All Dead Dove: Do Not Eat fics have a 🕊️ emoji next to their titles.

You are so very welcome, dear Anon! My inbox is always open for further ramblings about Anisoka!
On a related note of unfairly hated-on Ahsoka Tano ships, I want to give a shout-out to Sokabine (Ahsoka Tano x Sabine Wren). If you like Anisoka, chances are that you'll love Ahsoka's complicated and angst-filled relationship with her own Padawan.

Hope
~ Chapter 2 ~
Summary: Dean and Sam Winchester save a young woman —Natalie Johnson, from a coven of witches who are after her deceased grandmothers spell book. At first Dean doesn’t trust her, will he ever? Natalie is just simply a woman who gets roped up in the supernatural world from a mistake her grandmother made.
Paring: Dean x OC
Warning: Age gap, slow burn, smut (during later chapters), language, gore.
Word Count: 1,278
A/N: Hope you’re like the story! Happy reading! ♥️
Natalie had been restless in the bunker for over a week. At first, she was just trying to wrap her head around the world she had been thrown into—hunters, witches, spell books, and actual supernatural monsters—but eventually, she started getting bored. The Winchester brothers were always going off on hunts or researching the next big supernatural threat, and Natalie was just... there. She hated feeling useless.
So, one morning, after Sam returned from one of his endless trips to the bunker's archives, she made a decision.
"You know," Natalie began, leaning over the table in the war room where Sam had spread out a bunch of lore books, "I could help with this."
Dean, sitting nearby and cleaning one of his guns, snorted. "Help? How? Gonna knit us some monster repellent?"
Sam shot him a warning look, then turned back to Natalie, curious. "What do you mean? How can you help?"
Natalie took a breath, bracing herself for more of Dean's sarcasm. "Well, before I was kidnapped by a bunch of witches and thrown into the twilight zone, I was actually doing something pretty useful with my life. I work as a cybersecurity analyst. You know, hacking, tracking digital trails, all that stuff. I'm good at research, too."
Sam raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Really?"
"Yeah," Natalie nodded. "I went to school for computer engineering, and now I help companies lock down their networks. Finding obscure information and hacking into databases is kind of my thing. I figured if you're dealing with monsters and lore all the time, maybe I can dig up stuff online, hack into things you can't."
Dean looked up from his gun, raising an eyebrow. "So, you're a geek."
Natalie's mouth twitched in annoyance. "You say that like it's a bad thing."
"It is when you're dealing with real-world stuff, like decapitating vampires and blowing up demons," Dean muttered, his voice gruff. "Not everything's about computers."
Sam gave him a sideways glance. "Dean. We're always doing research. You and I spend hours looking through archives and databases when we're not hunting. Hacking could be really useful, especially for tracking down things we can't normally get access to."
Dean grunted, clearly not thrilled with the idea of relying on Natalie for anything. "Fine. But don't expect me to hand over the keys to the Impala or anything."
Natalie rolled her eyes. "Don't worry, I wouldn't want to touch that fossil anyway."
Sam hid a smile, glancing back at his notes. "Okay, Natalie. Let's see what you've got."
It didn't take long for Natalie to prove she was more than capable. After that first offer to help, she dove headfirst into researching the latest case—a series of strange deaths involving men being burned alive in the middle of seemingly normal activities. The police reports were baffling, and there was no obvious supernatural connection at first glance.
Natalie hacked into local police databases, pulling up witness statements and security camera footage that wasn't available to the public. Within hours, she'd found patterns that had eluded both the police and the brothers.
"It's not spontaneous combustion," she said, leaning over her laptop, her fingers flying over the keys. "Each victim was seen just before their death with a strange symbol carved into their skin. I've enhanced the footage, and I'm pretty sure it's witchcraft."
Sam leaned in, impressed. "That's incredible work. How did you—?"
"IT degree, remember?" Natalie smirked. "I can analyze digital footage faster than you can look through your lore books."
Dean, who had been watching silently from across the room, crossed his arms. "Great. So now we know it's witches. That still doesn't mean we can stop them with a keyboard."
Natalie shot him a look. "No, but it helps knowing what we're up against, doesn't it?"
Dean opened his mouth to argue, but Sam cut in. "She's right, Dean. We needed this lead, and now we have it. Thanks, Natalie."
Natalie gave Sam a small, satisfied smile, ignoring the grumbling coming from Dean. "Happy to help."
Their latest hunt took them to a small town outside of Wichita. Dean, Sam, and now Natalie had tracked down the source of the deaths—a witch coven disguised as a small-town charity group. The witches were powerful, but they needed to carve the symbols into their victims to complete their rituals, which gave the trio a small window of opportunity.
Natalie stayed back in the bunker at Sam's request, continuing to monitor communications and hacking into the witches' emails and security feeds as they tried to locate the next potential victim.
While Sam and Dean were out chasing down leads, Natalie sent them real-time updates, directing them to potential sites where the witches were likely to strike next.
"This is insane," Natalie muttered to herself, eyes glued to her multiple screens. "I'm literally tracking witches in real time. How did my life turn into this?"
She sent a message to Sam's phone: Found something. They're targeting a city council member. Check the courthouse—they're holding a fundraiser tonight.
Dean's voice crackled through the walkie-talkie. "Courthouse? How the hell do you know that?"
"I hacked into their event calendar and cross-referenced with their emails," Natalie replied, her tone clipped. "One of the witches is scheduled to attend tonight. If I'm right, they'll strike during the event."
Dean didn't respond for a moment, but when he did, his tone was begrudging. "Fine. We're heading there now."
When they arrived at the courthouse, everything was just as Natalie predicted. The witches were already in place, their next victim unaware of the danger. Sam and Dean made quick work of two of the witches, and the third tried to flee. But Natalie, still monitoring from the bunker, was one step ahead. She hacked into the security system, locking all the exits remotely and trapping the witch inside the building.
The brothers cornered her, Dean delivering the final blow with a blade etched in runes designed to kill witches. The threat was over.
As they drove back to the bunker, Dean stared out the window, silent. Sam glanced over at him. "You know, Natalie was a big help tonight."
Dean grumbled under his breath. "Yeah, well, doesn't mean I have to like it."
"You don't like it because she's good at something you're not," Sam said with a smirk.
Dean shot him a glare. "I'm good at plenty of things. Like... I don't know, everything else that keeps us alive. But sure, let the geek take care of the computers."
When they returned to the bunker, Natalie was still sitting at her laptop, tapping away. When she heard the heavy footsteps, she looked up, her eyes meeting Dean's.
"So," she said, crossing her arms. "Did my geek skills help or not?"
Dean opened his mouth, ready to throw out another snarky retort, but the words stuck in his throat. He hated to admit it, but she had been useful. Hell, they wouldn't have cornered that last witch without her.
"Yeah," Dean said, finally grunting. "You helped."
Natalie raised an eyebrow, surprised by the acknowledgment. "That's the nicest thing you've said to me since I got here."
"Don't get used to it," Dean muttered, moving past her toward the kitchen. "I still don't trust you."
Natalie rolled her eyes, smiling as Sam gave her a thumbs-up from behind Dean's back.
Dean might never admit it, but Natalie was becoming more useful by the day. And while he wasn't ready to start handing out trust like candy, he couldn't deny she was starting to feel less like a liability—and more like part of the team.

Over analyzing Janani K. Jha songs (Pt. 1)
The Judgement (I think too much)
Ok, starting off with this one because it inspired this whole thing.
The line ‘Things are muddled, messy, too murky for us to wade through’ is cool because alliteration and I LOVE wordplay or fun word things (One of the reasons I love Sunday Crossword, but that’s a song for later).
The ‘If i let them both win, they’ll tear my skin apart’ part is so cool when it flip flops between ears like what how do people even do that (I know that lots of songs do this, I am just easily impressed).
Another thing - the way she does the ‘I think too much with my head not enough with my heart’ part is awesome. I love the way she adds onto the music, especially during choruses (Another example of this is royal we).
’My Gemini, the gems in his eyes’ just sounds so fun because Gemini and gems. Also, Gemini is like twins because they’re meant for each other or something but also the constellation for Gemini is Castor and Pollux, who are not only from the School for Good and Evil and Percy Jackson but also from GREEK MYTHOLOGY (I bet you already knew that andI’m just silly.)
Another way it ties into Greek mythology is the ‘on my left is an owl, on my right is a dove’ which I bet you never guessed is talking about Athena and Aphrodite, but also, the left side of your brain is the side that handles the logic stuff and the right side is more creative, and intuition based, which is ANOTHER LAYER.
The bridge is just gorgeous and refers to Athena and Aphrodite again (‘All is fair in love and war’), and the high note. Her range is impressive.
So, those are my thoughts on this song, hopefully I’ll post more soon. Also, I apologize for becoming slowly more unhinged throughout this, I am kind of obsessed with her music if you couldn’t tell.
Side note/question for those who made it this far: is ‘The Rest of The Laurels’ rest like this is its resting place where it stays, rest like R&R, sleeping kind of rest, or rest like the rest of them are over there?

✨I ranked all the indian stuff I watched in 2023✨
For context, this July I finally gave in to my decade-old urge and dove head first into indian culture. It's been nothing short of phenomenal. The more people I meet, the more foods I try, the more music I listen to, the more Hindi I learn, the more I fall in love with India.
Although I became more of a TV serial person, eventually, I gave in to the movies as well.
So here's everything I watched, ranked from worst to best.
(I'm sorry in advance)

10. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
This movie is useless, I'm so sorry. Somehow, it fooled me into thinking Naina was the main character, then the whole thing became about Bunny and I was so confused, who was I supposed to care about anyway? Can't complain though, Naina is a boring and uncharismatic cliché, I couldn't care less about her, had she disappeared midway into the story, I would've been thankful. Avi, Bunny, and Aditi, on the other hand, are loveable characters that deserved to be in a better movie — especially Aditi, I liked her so much. Too bad the movie seems to be about absolutely nothing. There was a message, I think, but it felt so shallow it didn't even matter to me, there was no actual relevance, no lesson, no impact, nothing. Maybe I'm stupid, but this movie is a drag. And the soundtrack SUCKS, Ilahi is the only good song in it.
2.8/10

9. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
The very first Bollywood movie I've ever watched. I wanted to like it so bad, it makes me sad that I didn't. Is it a comedy? A horror story? A dramatic murder mystery? Somehow, it's all of these and none at the same time, it can't decide on a tone to save its life, not even the humor can decide on what exactly it wants to be (most of it is just bad). The main couple has negative chemistry, their romance is so bland it's almost funny. Ruhan carries the whole movie on his back and is the only character with enough charisma to make me care, I honestly love this guy. His scene where he pretends to be possessed is incredible, and Tabu as Anjulika was great too. The plot twist was really nice, possibly the only good thing about the whole story, but then the movie ends so abruptly and on such a heavy note that it almost made me sick when the upbeat theme song started playing immediately after. This movie could not read the room, everything about it throws me off.
4/10

8. Jab We Met
Aditya is a dream, Geet is kind of a nightmare. I have nothing against characters that are lively, optimistic, and cheery, but they have to be bearable, she was just way too much for me. I loved Aditya's character development, it was fun and endearing to watch. The movie itself is not bad, just overrated. Nagada Nagada slaps though.
6/10

7. War
I wanted to love this movie just as much as it wanted to have a good twist. We both failed. Underestimating the audience's intelligence is one thing, but toying with us and making us feel like fools for the sake of a “big reveal” is something else. And no, it wasn't worth it. It wanted to be surprising, but it was just frustrating, shocking for all the wrong reasons. The action was fire though, no complaints there, and I loved the relationship dynamic between Kabir and Khalid, I would watch 11 seasons of those two going on missions with their team and fighting together, their chemistry is so good, I enjoyed every second of their scenes.
6.4/10

6. Arjun: The Warrior Prince
As a Mahabharat fan, I had hopes, but that's on me. Loved the way the story was presented to the audience, simple but brilliant. Shaheer Sheikh's Brihannala altered my brain chemistry, and I was elated to see her again. The animation was gorgeous, that goes without saying. I just hated how it ended right before the war, right where Arjun has some of his best moments, and hated even more how they practically erased Krishna from the story. At least they made him dark skinned this time.
6.7/10

5. My Name is Khan
Had this been based on a true story, I would've been the biggest fan of this movie to ever exist, I am a sucker for movies based on real life stories. Still, despite the disappointment of finding out this whole thing — as good as it was — was fictional, I see it as a touching, lovely, honest, and relevant story that kept me interested and broadened my horizons. Say whatever you want about allistic actors playing autistic characters, Shah Rukh Khan sold the heck out of this character and I bought it like the big neurodivergent fool that I am. I see a neurodivergent character onscreen, I am immediately on-board and loving them despite all their scripted flaws because “they're just like me fr”. "Marry me", indeed.
7/10

4. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
Is it innovative and groundbreaking? No, but it is so much fun. It's deep and honest enough, charismatic and funny enough, it's just good entertainment with a good message. I expected nothing to be honest, either way, the story just kept getting better? The dynamics kept getting deeper and more complex? Wait a minute, this was actually good! I went in for the soundtrack — I'm obssessed with Dhindhora Baje Re — but I stayed for everything else. I laughed out loud many times, I shed some tears, I rooted, man, this movie made me feel actual things! What a lovely surprise.
7.9/10

3. The Railway Men
I went into it with such high hopes. Some of them were met, but part of me was left unsatisfied. As I said before, real stories are my favorite, but the way this show was presented feels too much like fiction. Good fiction, but still. And I know it’s not fiction. I am aware that many creative liberties were taken, and I'm not against them, at all, but the thing is: I could see them, I knew they were there. When I watched HBO’s Chernobyl, I was fully convinced that everything that was presented in the show was reality, exactly how it had happened, and I doubted nothing. I was shocked when they revealed that Ulana Khomyuk was a character created to represent many scientists that were involved in the incident. I had eaten her up, and I still can't believe she wasn't a real person. The Railway Men feels like the opposite of this, most of it feels like a creative liberty, very little reads as a real event, a real interaction, or a real person. I doubted a lot of what I saw, and had to do some research to fully understand what exactly had been real. But like I said, it was still good. I found myself caring deeply for each and every character, no matter how minor, I deeply empathized with their pain, rooted for them, cried with them, cried for them. It's heartbreaking, gut wrenching, revolting, yet it still manages to be inspiring. Why I never learned about Bhopal before watching this show is beyond me, but at any rate, I will be recommending this show to everyone I know.
8.1/10

2. Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva
I will defend this movie's honor, I don't even care. I loved it so much that I made my mom watch it with me the next day, and she loved it. The dialogue is cringy, yes, unbearably so, some lines make my skin crawl. But COME ON, the plot is great, the concept is creative, the visual effects are wonderful, the soundtrack is divine —Mohan is dreamy— hear me out, I was hooked, on board, immersed, you name it. This movie made me feel so excited, I felt like a 7-year-old watching a super hero movie and wanting to have cool powers just like those, I honestly can't remember the last time a movie made me feel this energetic. Do I understand why Shiva and Isha were so deeply in love despite having met each other a week ago? No, but I was still rooting for them. Do I understand why sometimes people yell out the Astra’s powers in order to activate them like the Power Rangers? No, neither do I vibe with it, but do you think it mattered? The next moments were so freaking cool that I completely forgot what I wanted to complain about. (Oh, and Saurav Gurjar was in it! I gasped so loud when I saw him on screen, and playing a villain no less!) I was genuinely sad when it ended, I would've watched three more hours of that, despite the terribly written lines. I will fight for this movie and forgive every bad line of dialogue if it kills me.
8.7/10

1. Mahabharat (2013)
In case you haven't noticed, I am absolutely obssessed with Mahabharat. Initially, I’d decided to face the 267 episodes of this show because watching stuff in your target language is a good way to learn (also, that Krishna guy was very easy on the eyes, looking at him a bit more surely wouldn't hurt). It took me a few episodes to really get into the story, but once I did, oh boy, I was so hooked on the plot I even forgot about the language (although I did learn some words from it). The thing about this show, other than the freaking superb plot and phenomenal cast, are the characters. They all made me feel something. And that's the thing with characters, I believe, they don't necessarily have to be good or bad, morally speaking, they have to be well-written and entertaining, they have to make you feel things, positive or negative. Shakuni, a villain, was freaking great because of how good he was at being bad. And the good guys, like the Pandavas, weren't just good, that'd be boring, they were also charismatic, unique, funny, inspiring, and sometimes morally grey, which made them even more interesting, even more human. Watching them get in conflict with their morals when things got dark was insane. Even when they messed up —I'm looking at you Dharmraj— I still wanted to see them win. They felt like family, I watched them grow, I felt so close to them that their struggles and victories felt like my own. “My boys”, I call them. Mahabharat is my Roman Empire, man, I could talk about this show for HOURS. Anyway, this became my favorite show of all time and I'm so glad I didn't let the number of episodes scare me away. (And yes, I am still very much in love with Saurabh Raaj’s Krishna, he is probably one of my favorite characters ever, my heart raced when I first saw him and it still does to this day, BYE)
9/10
Oh, this ended up being a Top 10. Nice.
I both thank you and applaud you for reaching the end of this ramble that is ultimately just a result of my obsession with making lists and ranking literally everything. And also my admiration for indian culture.
I would've included Porus and Chandragupta Maurya but I'm not yet finished watching them, but I thought I should say: I am liking them a lot.
What do you people think I should watch next year? Recommendations are welcome!

it’s very funny how this fandom suddenly cares so much about sensitivity, meanwhile no one was up in arms about folks calling valeria shit like “cartel mommy” and simping for her. and, if you point this out, you get told that it’s “less important” or incomparable. way to tell victims of cartel violence that they don’t matter. y’all can’t preach about sensitivity and mindfulness while doing the exact opposite of that.
sensitivity is something that needed to be brought up a long time ago. people need to be mindful about the content they’re engaging with and producing. COD and its characters are based on very real issues and very real situations, mindfulness is needed for every single character.
seeing this only be brought up in the context of makarov and graves is honestly so, so frustrating. they’re not the only problematic characters that you need to consider when making content. western militaries like the US and UK are incredibly controversial and have devastated vulnerable people and their countries. price, ghost, soap, gaz— any member of the military, especially the special forces, is problematic. they’re not good people and should not be treated like saints, nor should they be idolized for what they do.
that all being said, the concepts of “be mindful and sensitive when making content” and “let people enjoy problematic media” can absolutely, 100%, co-exist. art is not meant to be a paradigm of moral goodness, it has always been a medium for people to explore things that are considered "taboo" in a safe space. there's a reason why "dead dove: do not eat" exists as a genre – with proper warning and precautions put in place, people can explore darker topics. for some, it's morbid interest. for others, it's a way of coping with trauma and experiences they've had in real life.
i want to repeat this just to make it very clear: be mindful and sensitive with the content you're producing. do not romanticize topics that should not be painted in a good light. don't minimize the impact of characters' actions or act like people are in the wrong for being uncomfortable with them. in this fandom especially, people treat atrocities like jokes because we're becoming desensitized to them. it's up to every individual to ensure that they don't forget how impactful a lot of this stuff is in real life. war is not a joke. terrorism is not a joke. people dying is not a joke. do not romanticize any of these things in your content, even if you're exploring the different sides of the people behind these things.
humanize the characters all you want. horrible people are still people, after all. humans are not one-dimensional beings. humanize them, but do not romanticize them.
be kind to victims, be sensitive, and be mindful about what you engage with. no one is perfect, no thing is perfect, but we can always do better. we need to approach every topic through this lens instead of picking and choosing who to support. everyone is deserving of it, everyone is entitled to basic respect. we don't need to compete and argue over who has it worse, we just need to be better across the board. support real victims. don't let media warp your perceptions of reality. be conscious of the content you make and consume.
#call of duty#cod#cod mw2#mw2#modern warfare#putting it in very clear words because i'm scared people may misinterpret what i'm saying:#for the love of god— LISTEN when people tell you that you're doing something wrong.#especially if these are victims or people knowledgeable of the topics you're portraying.#do your research. learn about the things you're writing or reading about.#do not portray bad people or harmful things in a positive light.#it's completely possible to “simp” for villains without disregarding or defending their actions. these characters are fictional.#it's better to get your rocks off to a set of pixels modeled after a normal person than a REAL person that does harm.#but be cognizant of what you're looking at when you do.#if you can support real victims— please do.#donate to ukraine. educate yourself on the war. learn about the harsh reality of cartels. study the impact of colonization and racism.#not only is it good to be informed of things in the real world— but it allows you to better understand these topics in the media.#i'm FAR from perfect. i'm not immune to doing wrong. i'm no exception to this criticism.#also wanted to throw this into the post but i may make another to address this specifically:#it is VERY telling that this fandom only started talking about sensitivity once (predominantly) white folks started being impacted by it.#no one cared about valeria being called “cartel mommy” or the cartel being romanticized.#graves gets criticized for being racist. but even he's often given a “pass” by the fandom.

Ok so i was going to mention this in the ao3 comments but since youre active on tumblr i thought why not just come here!
So ive been re-reading rf again (for the 7th time... sorry) and im not sure if ive already mentioned this or if somebody else did but ive been thinking about kaeyas nickname for reader-dove, and the symbolism behind that because like- DOVE the animal representative of peace and love and FREEDOM, being placed on reader means so much. The story literally deals with the tension between inazuma and mond, reader being from inazuma and having such a great sincere love and sense of protection for mondstat is such a good character out of all to be named dove, especially from kaeya's perspective, he sees her as a symbol of genuineness compared to the other soldiers, someone who has risked their life for freedom when leaving inazuma, for peace when sacrificing themselves for ewald, and love for confessing to kaeya knowing she could have gotten in so much trouble. Reader is unapologetically so caring and delicate with everyone, a blanket of security that kaeya indulges in and lets his walls fall down around, his dove and flash of light in the grittiness of war. Im so sorry i could talk abt them for days😭😭 i love kaeya and reader and cant wait for their comeback, i hope you are doing well and thank you for such a well done fic, i know its not complete but ive read it so many times and genuinely it is better put together than about half of the books on my bookshelf😭 take care!
selkified! You are always the sweetest. ❤️❤️❤️
and ohmygod you made me fall in love with reader all over again. you're right, she's so sweet and genuine, which is what kaeya's character is attracted to the most, especially in the beginning of their relationship.
while writing them, i had to find a common ground for the two to connect. Kaeya seems like the type of character that needs deep and genuine connection for him to...obsess over someone enough that he will do batshit crazy stuff for them. reader's unapologetic perspective in freedom and chasing after what you want are quite contrasting to what we know of Kaeya's lore. he's used to hiding behind deception, despite the fact that he's very much driven by love. he suffered so much ever since his childhood, and reader's outlook in life is like a fresh air to him. but it's sort of unfamiliar to him that it feels scary. if you squint enough, he's not exactly the nicest to reader's feelings either. he doesn't know what to do with her lol he leads her on a lot then squash her feelings last minute
as for his nickname, dove, i didn't originally mean for it to stick. (i was in a Hawks (MHA) high and fanon Hawks uses "dove" a lot so i kind of wanted to implement it.) i did a research and found it to be perfect and now Raging Fires!Kaeya hasn't let go of this nickname since then. since Rin Minamoto isnt really reader's actual name, Kaeya had to use a more personal name for her, and that happened to be an endearment. i'm glad everyone is positively reacting to it too lol
anyway your insights are well appreciated. im also glad you are loving them !!!
#this ask has been sitting in my inbox im so sorry for the wait#but this made my day <333#im falling in love with the pair all over again!!!#bellehalla asks#rf#raging fires

Question: Can inkfish even eat chocolate? My headcanon is that Inkfish can eat chocolate but only in very small amounts and probably with an age limit. I imagine that chocolate was brought over via trade with another species that can eat chocolate and inkfish might have gotten a little addicted to it. Kind of how squirrels are addicted to chocolate but shouldn't be eating it.
They can eat chocolate. there is a ridiculous amount of chocolate-flavored things and chocolate drizzle is something people love to put on stuff, we just had the splatfest (normally splatfests are a questionable canon source though). Chocolate is toxic to a lot of animals, just like pretty much everything is in certain amounts - humans have a weird amount of tolerance to a lot of things in nature that are meant to be toxic deterrents but we're like omg poison sooooo yummy. given how Inklings evolved to be somewhat omnivorous and really enjoy fruit, it wouldn't be far fetched to me that they also developed resistance to a lot of stuff. hell, maybe they can even eat berries that are toxic to us.
idk. Really i dont think about things like this much at all because i know that even if you deep dove into animal diets and made a comprehensive list of what human foods a squid could be able to eat, or what it could theoretically evolve to eat, it would never add up to what's in the actual game because it's first and foremost a human parallel. If we're being real, squids are carnivores and they shouldn't be eating pretty much anything except fish and crustaceans and each other and like, worms. But in the game they're eating waffles and ice cream and avocado toast and whatever the hell else they absolutely in no way should even be able to digest, lol.
So they clearly have omnivorous adaptations despite mainly being carnivorous. I like to think it's so they can supplement their diet easier because the amount of calories that an Inkling needs in a day is literally ridiculous, if we look at pre-civilization Inklings or even modern inklings that play lots of turf war. Considering HOW they move changing forms, swimming, producing that much ink, super jumping, having no bones so a LOT of their movement is almost purely through muscle, ET CETERA, you'd be REALLY GRATEFUL to be able to eat something that doesnt require chasing and is calorie-dense, and metabolizing sugars is something that would REALLY HELP THAT (which brings us to stuff like noodles, rice, bread).
Fruit is an especially notable thing and I believe it was one of the first things Inklings started eating when they started developing away from being purely carnivorous. Fruit has a LOT of sugar which is good if you can metabolize it and you're a hyperactive species that produces like their own weight in ink in like an hour if given the chance, and fruit also has a LOT of WATER which is. Well, read above. same thing. The water is really the main thing they would NEED to get through their diet, way more than solely eating meat provides on average
kind of a ramble there but it's tangentially related i promise. ALL THAT BEING SAID. there's definitely foods that have been brought cross-species through trade. i'd like to think stuff like rice and wheat actually wasn't commonplace with inklings and vegetables are VERY new in their culinary culture, especially things like lettuce. They probably mainly had things like crustaceans, fish, eggs, fruit and whatever prior. There's a piece of stage dialogue in Splatoon 1 that implies vegetables literally didn't exist until like less than a hundred years ago but idk if they just made that up.

Hi, I'm Cee (26) and I'm looking for a long term 1x1 rp partner! I have a specific plot idea in mind that I've been really wanting to do, so I'd love to find a steady partner for it! 🐈⬛️
The main plot I've wanted to do is royalty omegaverse. Your character has taken over my char's kingdom in war, and claimed the prince as a war prize. He is, however, a rather pitiful and very traumatised man. This plot can also work with your char being a prince. I'm open to swapping details around, as long as the "my char is a war prize" jist stays.
My idea with this story would be more of a romance story, hurt and comfort, that sort of thing. I'd also love political drama, troubles within your character's kingdom - or anything with a lot of drama, angst, and high stress emotions, really. I'd especially love if this was set in omegaverse reversal, where alphas are lower class and omegas are upper class. I've been wanting to play with that dynamic.
The oc I plan to use is an alpha catboy. I'd love if your char was also a catboy. Anyway, he has a defined personality, appearance, and backstory that I will ramble to you about in DMs. I also have a lot of side characters from his past that can be relevant.
I mostly play domtop, with occasional subtop. I don't like pure smut rps, but I don't want to only fade to black - please be ok with writing scenes sometimes.
MUST HAVE: MxM, shipping, at least a bit of fantasy, dead dove themes, semi-lit to lit length, 3rd person, daily replies
LIKES: multiple threads, modern fantasy, humanoid creatures, magic and wizards, slice of life with lots of drama, angst, hurt/comfort, texting rp on the side for when we're low energy 👀
WON'T DO: incest or 🍪 (not even in backstory please), animal/child torture, FxF, space setting, robots, IRL faceclaims
Note that if something isn't listed as a "won't do", I'm open to discussion! I probably just don't have a strong feeling about it.
PLEASE BE OK WITH: suicide/self-harm (usually just idealisation and desire; sometimes failed attempts), depression and self loathing, sexual assault (usually between npc and my char, and usually nothing on screen), and gore and graphic depictions of injury or misery.
Additionally, this rp will require you to be into things like worldbuilding, playing npcs, and being willing to toss in villain characters. I can and will do all of this too, but you also have to put this stuff in.
In a partner, I'm looking for someone who can do daily replies (and tell me if things will slow down!). I also prefer a lot of ooc communication and chatter! I like to hang out and talk about the rp, our characters, or even just things I'm up to. I also love coming up with AUs and side stories and the like, and would love if you were open to listening to my ideas or even sharing your own.
Please do not interact if you ghost. If you want to drop, I want you to at least send a goodbye before you leave so I know it happened.
Thank you for reading, and please react to this post or dm me if you would like to rp together!

Weekly Reading Update (04/08/24)

Reviews and thoughts under the cut!
Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut (8/10)
I don’t know if I’d say this book was enjoyable; it’s non-linear and doesn’t really build up to much. However, it is an incredibly strong piece of commentary on the horrors of war as well as many other social issues. While I didn’t enjoy it as a story, I thought it was an amazing dissertation and did something very interesting with the sci-fi elements.
The Lost Heir by Tui T. Sutherland (9/10)
This is a really strong book, one that kind of politics-heavy for a children's series and is narrated by an interesting but distinctly flawed character. This one is from Tsunami's perspective who, if I remember correctly, was my favorite of the dragonets, often tied with Glory. The worldbuilding in this series continues to be pretty amazing, and the pacing is good as well. I do wish it was clarified how old these dragons would be as humans because it sounds really weird when you're trying to marry off your six-year-old to your advisor, but the dragonets tend to act more like teens than young children.
Trickster’s Queen by Tamora Pierce (9/10)
This was a strong conclusion to this duology; the way things are wrapped up on the political side do it quite well considering the real-world reflections. I liked this book for a reason I like a lot of Pierce books, which is that she doesn't shy away from the day-to-day struggles of larger conflicts. It's not all huge battles and coups, it's slowly chipping away at a regime's stability through small signs of resistance, dissemination of information, and driving wedges in the ruling class. The characters are really strong, establishing a huge cast very well, especially on the romance side with Aly and Nawat. Dove is an amazing character, and as a reader, despite her age, I could see her being an accomplished queen.
House of Crimson Hearts by Ruby Roe (18+) (CR, 13%)
I was not anticipating a sex scene within the first two chapters of this book, but I'm not complaining. I really like that this sapphic romantasy is being unabashedly sexual, something queer books can struggle to get out there. Plotwise I'm not quite sure what the long-term goal is, but I find Octavia and her backstory very interesting.
To Gaze Upon Wicked Gods by Molly X. Chang (CR, 11%)
So far I'm kind of neutral on this book. The worldbuilding draws me in, as does some of the complex relationships being built up. On the other hand, it feels like there's a bit of info-dumping going on. Instead of weaving information into the narration, there are lumps of explanation that are inserted practically every other paragraph, which is sort of slowing things down for me right now.
Mystery Editing Stuff
I'm mostly just putting this here for my own tracking purposes, but I'm really excited to start talking about this book once it become generally available.
