Thoughts I had during TGCF S2 Ep 2

Also watching this while sketching now here we go!

Previously on TGCF… 

-And starting off at the Gambler’s Den!

-Kinda hard to accomplish since you were talking to a ghost

-Honestly, the reason they have Qingxuan switch from Male to female in this season is that from a Union Standpoint, they had to allow Anjali Kunapaneni dub other series while Jacob Eiseman took over and vice versa.  That’s just my theory, I’m not sure if it might be true.

-Aw, he’s worried over his complexion

-Man, Xie Lian’s expression shifts as he inspects Qinqxuan’s complexion.  I love that little attention to detail in the animation.

-And then Qingxuan happily exclaims while putting both hands on his cheek was 100% precious!

-“If I were a mirror where would I be” they have the best lines of this Season 2 so far!

-Wind Master laugh is clearing my pores

-Hi Qianqiu, Hi Mengyou

-Not so smart to me

-All the ghosts have really unique and distinct designs (it’s that kind of uniqueness I’m trying so hard to capture in my TOH Oc murder mystery au)

-“Aw man!  What was his number!  Not cool Taihua!” - Literally every ghost in the Gambler’s den, and also me.

-Well, you’re not wrong, Qianqiu

-Hehehe the double facepalm XD

-Let’s face it, we all lost it during Hua Cheng soft chuckle!

-And I’m like at Qingxuan, “You didn’t read the signs?” Does anybody other than the ghosts, read the signs???

-That blue masked ghost woman sure has sass

-That blue beaked ghost also has a cool design tho

-Don’t mind me just fanning myself whenever Hua Cheng speaks cause it gives me the vapors~!

-The fact that they thought the same thing!

-No not the gambling table!

-This is infinitely better than the live action martial acts films I’ve seen in my whole life

-They’re just gonna believe that from two newcomers?

-Xie Lian, internally chanting: “Small…small…small…” His cursed and horrible misfortune: LOL nope :3

-Not your fault for looking like a snack Qianqiu

-Wait till you see the fandom, Taihua

-Alright, hat got Hua Cheng enticed

-Literally everybody witnessing a man in white robes desperately shake a pair of dice: Is…that guy ok?

-His smile widened!

-“I can’t watch!”  I can and it’s gonna be something!

-Oh he sees a lot in that raggedy jerk than you do right now buddy

-“What’s there to teach about shaking dice?  It’s just shakin dice!”  The best random quote of this episode, and the tone when that side character said it!

-“And you’re the expert!” He got sassed back

-*Hears Hong Lian Qian starting up like* Aw yeah, the best song of the new season! *Vibes out with writing and sketching like no tomorrow*

-Dude! Pass me the Aux cord!  You better not be playing mainstream garbage!  *Casually plays Hong Lian Qian like a G!*  WOO!!!

-There he is, just a red transparent curtain keeps them apart, also Hua Cheng’s status but let’s not get ahead of ourselves

-The wind animation!!!, and Wind master’s not even summoning it

-Literally when my older sister first saw this scene she was like: It’s the pottery scene from Ghost

-He rolled an 11!

-If my underaged TGCf OCs witness the infamous dice scene like in season 2, Qing Tao and Chun Xue(both 12) look up to their older friends: “..ssShould we be listening to this?”  And then Lan Hai and Nuan Yu (both 14) frantically respond with covering their younger friends’ ears: “…pProbably best if we played it safe.” (Quotes are from an episode of Close Enough) heck I can imagine the Gaang reacting like this witnessing the dice shaking too, just swap Qing Tao and Chun Xue with Aang and Toph, and Lan Hai and Nuan Yu with Sokka and Katara, (Zuko would also try to cover the Southern Water Tribe Sibs’ ears, but this hypothetical scene also won’t happen in my TGCF x ATLA xover, now back to the reaction!)

-The singing really is timed well with the animation!  10/10 baby!

-“You see, it’s bigger now” …I got the joke

-“It’s starting to feel like San Lang is just teasing me” Oh yes he is~

-They’re chucking their dice at him!

-It’s a 10!

-“Now I’m sure San Lang is just teasing me”  Told ya~

-The chibi scene!

-Welp, looks like those rolls were just practice rolls

-You gotta love Xie Lian’s internal monologue

-Qingxuan chucked his fan at Taihua, and it came back like Sokka’s boomerang (I had to make that reference!)

-That tapir/baku headed Ghost

-It’s a 12, and it timed well with the rising crescendo!

-That one monkey like ghost

-Right on the gambling table!

-Did he cheat?

-The music change!!!  The soundtrack team knew what they were doing!

-“Who cares it’s gorgeous!  He’s so handsome I think I might just die right here!”  “What are you talking about?  You’re already dead!”  That was a really great exchange!

-And he is seeing his real face!

-“Please my lord don’t tease me!”  Oh yes he will~!

-Now the ghosts are suspicious it took em like half an episode!

-Hey guys I think we’re all gonna get a kick outta this, “The stale half eaten bun from Ep 5 was in Xie Lian’s sleeve the whole time!”  I’ve always wanted to quote that, and it was totally worth it!

-Man, I can’t wait to write Aang’s reaction seeing Xie Lian and Hua Cheng interact together!

-“Um, I’m afraid it’s gotten a bit hard” Yep, they slipped that in, and James was a boss at writing the whole english script for the season

-He tosssed the bun up and down like San Lang did with a small piece of a broken sword in S1 Ep 6, the parallels people!  The parallels!!!

-And him biting the stale bun got XL all flustered! AAAHH!!!

-Look at him go!

-Not that random stand, wait it’s still in tact

-Slay that performance Qingxuan!

-Chide him good!

-And Xie Lian’s still does a great job as a strategizer and a mediator

-The introduction that would change the season forever, also Qingxuan’s emotion shift when it came to describing his new friend’s current occupation with collecting scraps as a living

-He knew San Lang was Hua Cheng?!?!?!

-Hua Cheng is messing with them!

-They’re using him as bait!

-Oh yeah, that’s right, they’re friends

-Geez savage, Wind master

-Hey, no dissing Ling Wen she’s doing her best!

-Gone from Season 1 eps 2-3 and Ling Wen still couldn’t find him???

-Welp, there’s the cliffhanger

HELLO ANON. i do not know if you'll ever see this because it took me ten years, but here i am, answering you.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT THEM:

fun fact: simon infinity train is the reason i have a disclaimer about me getting attached to tragic antagonists in my pinned post. so you can probably make an educated guess what i like about him.

he's just. such a well written character. i love how his negative character development was contrasted against grace's positive character development. i love how the writers did a really good job of making him infuriating and sympathetic at the same time.

i'll go more into my thoughts on him in a later section, but yeah, the tl:dr is he really just is my character type hahaha.

he's just a really complex character and imo the writers nailed that.

LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT THEM:

okay well, this answer changes depending on if you mean from a writing perspective or a 'him as a person' perspective. from a writing perspective, 100/10, no notes. i can't think of anything i disliked.

from a PERSON perspective. episode 6 makes me want to murder this man <3 i want to put tape over his mouth every time he speaks in that episode. it's somehow WAY worse than when he's just straightup being an over-dramatic anime villain at the end of the season.

FAVORITE LINE:

oh there are many. i need to rewatch again. but the ones that live in my brain rent free are ALL after his downward spiral begins:

"teamwork begins with two people trusting eachother. but you? you're no person." dramatic effect. extremely traumatizing for everybody who's ever watched this show. 10/10

"i liked what we had, but you made me do it! you betrayed the apex. and you betrayed me." again, dramatic effect. really gives you a feel for what's going on in his head, i think. 10/10

"why would i ever want to change if i'm always right!?" iconic. i think this is the one people remember the most from him, along with the one from ep 5.

BROTP & OTP (combining because my answer is the same for both):

grace. lol. full stop. hopefully i don't have to explain that i am VERY AWARE that their relationship was unhealthy in many, MANY ways. that is what i like about it. i'm a huge fan of messy relationships in fiction. i am a self proclaimed angst fiend.

the tragedy of it all is 100% the appeal of it for me, from either a platonic OR romantic standpoint. i love that. and yes, i do ship them to an extent- but NOT in the "i think they should have gotten together in canon" way. again, the angst is the appeal!!

i admit i do also enjoy aus where they fix their relationship, but not INSTEAD of the canon, more so in ADDITION to the canon. i think it's a fun alternate route to explore, but i deeply adore what the infinity train writers did with them in the show and that will not be changing.

NOTP:

literally any of the protags from the previous seasons. y'all, simon and grace are 18. you can't be shipping them with the 13-14 year olds. please stop. (nobody here! i mostly see this on ao3, honestly.)

RANDOM HEADCANON:

i think simon has been back to the cat multiple times in secret.

i really like the theory that he got some of the apex's tech from her. the main thing i have to support this is this line from the episode where he returns to her cabin in book 3:

"i knew you'd have something. you always do."

particularly i think there's a good chance he got the unmodified gravity boots from her (and likely modified them himself) and possibly also the number tracker.

UNPOPULAR OPINION:

oh i'm sure a lot of what i've already said has been an unpopular opinion, haha. i'm one of those people that's so in the middle in a debate that both sides of it have reasons to disagree with me.

i really like simon. he and grace are my favorite characters in the show. there are parts where i feel really bad for him, and parts where i want to yell at him and hit him over the head with a very large stick.

i see his death as a tragedy in universe, but also a really good writing choice on the part of the infinity train crew.

i don't think they secretly had a scheme to make us dislike him. i think it was written in such a way that it makes sense that some people would have a viscerally negative reaction to him, and others wouldn't. he's a very complex character and that's good writing!!!

i think the tragedy was the point, which is something both people who like him and people who hate him seem to completely overlook in a lot of cases. it's either "woohoo! simon died!" or "killing simon was bad writing he should have been redeemed >:/" not "oh this is really sad but i love it from a story perspective."

i don't think he was "irredeemable", per-say. the fact is, he was faced with a pivotal choice in episode five, and he picked the wrong one. he chose to double-down. i love that. i really do. i love the downward spiral. it's painful in the best way. i would not change the canon show for the world. again, 100/10, no notes.

but i can also see a universe where he made the right choice. i was writing a fic about that, once. (which admittedly has some characterization issues which i would fix if i tried it again.) i think it was possible. and i think that's a fun route to explore too. not a better route from a writing standpoint, but a good one.

i have so many more thoughts but this has already gotten really long, and i have two more questions to go, lol. but if you want to hear anymore you're free to send me another ask about it!

Ep 46 Pt 1: Zorc’s Massive Low Hanging Fruit

We are getting very close! I don’t actually...remember how many episodes there were in this season but listen, It can’t possibly be more than 50 right?

Right?

Anyway, we’re starting off in the battle basement in Yami’s tomb. Who, of course has a battle basement installed right outside of his final resting place, just like how he would have wanted.

And it’s here that the form of Bakura that the dub is telling me is Ryou wants to kill his own classmate. Which, I’ll just point it out since a couple people mentioned it, apparently the manga did not do this nor did the original Japanese version. The dub just made this Ryou for giggles. We already know Bakura can split into evil pieces, this was not necessary. We also know that Ryou is sleeping on those painful steppies, so this doesn’t make much logical sense.

But like we’re watching the dub right now, so sorry, everybody, this is Ryou. Ryou on a bad day, I guess. Dark Ryou. Not to be confused with Shadow Ryou, who is...that other freaking guy.

Yugi just upset that he forgot to bring his dueling disk to a dream universe in the past or whatever. Must feel naked without that thing stinking up his left arm and making that school blazer all wrinkly. Bro is telling me that Yugi should have one really big arm, kind of like trogdor.

the one thing that does make sense with making this Ryou is a little bit of symbolic imagery. Ryou talks about how he doesn’t have friends anymore in the beginning of this arc, and we can assume it’s because he’s decided to step away from other people because of the ghost in his bean. In contrast, Yugi has all these friends he cursed to like him (woops), and for whom he just risked his whole life for, and for whom he didn’t learn the Pharaoh’s name that he needed in order to save all of mankind.

Which, for reals, Tea and Joey are such good buds, that he really did just end the world to save their ass, and that is pretty anime of him.

But Tea gets very nervous over whether or not Yugi was going to perma-die. It would be very awkward if he died, since he’s also the host of this puzzle which is she is currently stuck inside of. Though I’m not 100% on if it’s even possible for him to die here. Little bit of a chicken or the egg situation, which I may have brought up before.

But still, she’s worried about it.

Which is when Joey does a quick head count and go “WAIT WAIT"

Back at Kul Elna, everything is very quickly falling apart. Rocks are falling from the sky, Pharaoh is back at the capital with Seto and the other Seto, and Karim helllllllllllllla died last episode (or 2 episodes ago? I have such bad memory nowadays) so we’re just gonna leave his corpse in the barn and go.

sorry I just took in the incredible abs on this oversized chess piece that is Hassad. 

Why bother? Like for reals why bother?

I have so many questions about this random guy and his character design and they will not get answered. Apparently Dark Side of Dimensions dives into it as well as other unresolved issues from this season but like, that’s for another time. We will be watching that later, and at my rate it’ll be like 5 years from now but I swear...unless I caught covid a second (third?) time we will eventually get there and find out the deal of this...this freakin guy.

Meanwhile, our story boarders are not finished flexing. I think they really enjoyed this particular episode, with this really fun composition around Bakura here. They LOVE to shred scenery with Bakura on this carving, and there are so many good shots where it’s like a comic cover. I mean, look at this:

Damn that’s a good idea. This composition is fun. You got the curves from this...pokemon that I forgot the name of... you got him dead center all strong and rigid to contrast the curves. You got purple and green clouds. It’s fun. If y’all ever want to do the “draw this anime still but in your style” this is a good still. Good stuff.

And then Bakura peaces off--no idea where, and it doesn’t really matter since we have like so many Bakura’s at this point. Lets just assume he’s everywhere.

And with that, the ground gives way to the ZORC within.

This ultimate being, Zorc, who we’ve been talking up for so many episodes.

And that’s when we find out Isis also left out another crucial detail about Zorc:

So listen. We can say that the...neck...of the snake is coming out of his lower stomach. But also, they left it in shadow for a reason. 

The reason is, this episode is getting me flagged.

It occurred to me I don’t have to go for the low hanging fruit. I don’t have to. I can find a way around this. And I struggled. And I did whatever I, a full grown adult, could think to do. I thought to myself, I am a creative person, and I am inventive and I can write comedy well enough so it’s not just about poops and butts and dicks.

And then I gave up because of the number of times this thing is dead center on screen. And really, truly, I make a lot of low hanging jokes on this blog anyway so we’re just going to embrace Zorc for who he really is, both inside and outside.

And he is a slowly growing talking dragon shaped penis with legs.

Covered up by my joke towel in this scene I want you to know the snake just had it’s maws wide open to shout them down. It literally does only talk out of the dragon head on the bottom part of him.

Anyway, then Hassan jumps in front of the missiles zorc shoots from his crotch and well...he dies that way.

Death by firecrotch. This is like an immortal God meant to be the protector of the Pharaohs but you can kill him and the way how is disgusting.

There they go, back to the palace, which like, I guess is VERY close to Kul Elna, since Yami and Seto are currently vibing there right now.

Back at fight club, these two are still at it.

and then back at the funeral of the most romantic anime death of all time, Seto is still at it.

Seto, despite probably having to throw just SO MANY funerals for his tragic backstory is not very good at them. So right now he’s just distancing himself emotionally from literally everything going on around him by convincing himself this is all a very vivid hallucination.

Which it is. For once he is correct, this entire arc is a hallucination, but a hallucination with consequences. Which he is not used to. Hell he doesn’t see consequences when he’s not in a hallucination half the time. He’s like super rich.

Yami decides he did what he can, but he’s done with this freakin guy. I guess trying to reach through to Seto is a skill that only Yugi possesses, cuz Yami is just clear out of patience for this sociopath. Which is a shame, he usually loves this sociopath.

I laughed out loud at this cut to this horse’s ass and Seto’s reaction to being left behind from getting a ride the one time he was the one who needed a ride.

LMAO at the dub for adding that suspicious soil clump where a dead girlfriend probably was laying before.

but being real, this is another very nice shot, I didn’t cap it for vibes, and I really should have. Again, if you’re looking for a “draw this in your style” anime still challenge, this is another fun one. You got a juxtaposition of old and new. You got the storytelling of the dead girlfriend and trying to understand feelings you don’t understand because you were taught to never love. You got lovely ancient pillars. You got a clump of dirt that used to be a girl...

Like we may have dragged Seto’s ass back here, just to make him look cool and out of place in that coat as the wind sweeps by him. And that’s fine, I’ll accept that Seto this season may only be here for some vibes.

As he admires her slowly breathing (yes, breathing, thanks dub) he flashes back to that only time he every had a single conversation with this woman (a conversation they had, only because she thought he was someone else)

And off he goes, to look cool and probably do little else.

Any books/movies/tv shows you’ve read/watched recently that you would recommend?

Oh, let’s see! For books, I recently read Stars and Smoke by Marie Lu. It’s an action-packed YA book where one MC is a world-famous superstar and the other is a spy. BookTok will market it as an “enemies to lovers” romance, but the romance is a little more lean on this one, and it’s definitely not an “enemies” to lovers scenario—maybe more of begrudging coworkers to ??? lovers? 🤔 😂 Either way, I enjoyed it! It has a sequel, but I felt satisfied with just the first book, so you can read it as a standalone!

As for shows—I’ve been taking a dive into Fall 2024’s anime line up!

1. Let This Grieving Soul Rest (Crunchyroll)

This one hits a lot of Isekai beats without actually being Isekai. It’s about an MC who’s the leader of this insanely overpowered guild with his childhood friends—and the kicker is, everybody thinks he’s an OP dude himself, but the man is just barely surviving 😂 Often by buying these expensive-ass relics that will save his skin. Others around him tend to misconstrue his actions and think that he actually has some “grand plan” going on under the surface—but there are no thoughts in that man’s silly brain, just pure terror. It’s a fun watch!

2. Blue Box (Netflix)

A very sweet coming-of-age show! I read the manga a few years ago and fell in love with it, but sadly didn’t keep up with it. Now that it’s been adapted into an anime by Studio Wit though, I find myself re-enjoying all the parts that made me love it in the first place! MC is a badminton player who has a crush on his senpai from the basketball team. When certain circumstances force her to live with his family to finish out the remainder of her high school years in Japan, the two begin to bond! This anime has a really refreshing take on romance and sports and goals in life—in that it’s more about self-improvement and friendships rather than trying to get the girl. (Though I don’t doubt that also happens later on lol.)

3. TsumaSho (Crunchyroll)

This one is… contentious among people who just give it a glance, to say the least lol. A guy who loses his wife to an accident a decade ago suddenly finds her reincarnated as an elementary schooler. Because the wife comes back in the body of an elementary school girl (and the dude is still very much in love with her and not over her death), this has squicked a lot of people. But it’s actually a story about grief and letting go. The couple have a grown daughter too, so it’s about the entire family being able to finally process what happened, getting that closure, and hopefully move on with their lives. I ended up bingeing the manga after the first few episodes of this show dropped—and I think it does a pretty good job at exploring grief through a fairly unique lens!

4. How I Attended an All-Guys’ Mixer (HiDive)

I’ve seen others describe this show as the “straight” yaoi—and they’re kinda right 😂 The whole premise is that this dude gets asked by a girl in his college class to a mixer, and when he shows up, with his friends in tow, they find all the girls in cross dress! And they’re HOT IKEMEN! Very amusing, very funny antics, very “so much questioning of sexuality but typically just from this one guy character who insists he’s straight (but prob isn’t).” If you want something fun to watch, then I definitely recommend this!!

today's thorns of the future guest is lucy lamb, a rising star of modern post-crystal castles electronic music, inspired by early 2010s fashion. lucy is an artist from melbourne, australia. she describes her music as "alt, indie, electronica, dance-pop and witch house with elements of darkwave". lucy is a producer and a singer, as well as a lyricist. her first ever release was a single titled "hello", which was self-released by lamb through distrokid.

thorns of the future: how did you start your journey with music?

lucy: I’ve always loved making music ever since I was a little kid. Started singing lessons when I was like 7 years old, fell in love with Miley Cyrus which was the reason I wanted to become a singer lol. Started making music when I was about 16, and released my first EP when I was 18.

thorns of the future: what are some of your favourite songs right now?

lucy: My favourite songs right now are Canary Wharf Drift by Bassvictim and Your Face by Wisp.

thorns of the future: who inspired you to make music?

lucy: Literally Miley Cyrus in the Hannah Montana tv show I was so obsessed.

thorns of the future: what is your craziest experience during a live show?

lucy: I played in this club in Tokyo which was a wild experience for me. There was no stage so I was just on the danceflooor with the crowd and kind of just walking around like weaving through everybody with my microphone which I definitely wasn’t used to.

thorns of the future: what software do you use to make music?

lucy: I use Logic Pro, I’m still learning how to use it properly though.

thorns of the future: what's "the other side" about?

lucy: The Other Side is about crossing over to the after life pretty much. It talks about being scared to die and the things you would miss. It can kind of be interpreted as being about any sort of transition from one thing to another, any sort of change, but I think the obvious one (especially when watching the music video) is the transition to death. It’s just a fictional sort of story if you will.

thorns of the future: are you planning any new releases?

lucy: I have 3 singles coming out in the next few months all with music videos. ‘Bed of Snow’ is coming out on September 20th and I’m so excited for it. All the songs are of course dance/electronic but I’m leaning a little bit into like indie rock elements in two of them, with the third being like a full commitment to witch house.

thorns of the future: what's a country you would never travel to?

lucy: I love travelling that’s my second favourite thing in the world after music. I went on a year long trip around the world in 2022 which was absolutely amazing. I went on a 5 month road-trip around Australia earlier this year too. It’s a little hard to travel like that while also doing music so I think for now I’m taking a break from travelling. I also love animals, especially weird exotic ones. The weirder they look the more I love them because it just makes me thing how weird and amazing the world is.

thorns of the future: have you ever met anyone famous from the electronic scene? who was it and how was your experience with them?

lucy: I can’t say I have yet. Someone I’d LOVE to meet is the guys from Air. They’re a huge inspiration for me and one of the most talented electronic duos I know.

thorns of the future: what's the riskiest thing you've ever done?

lucy: The riskiest thing I’ve done was probably when my friend and I did couchsurfing through Europe. There’s this app called couchsurfing where you can arrange to stay at strangers’ houses for free while you’re travelling. We were pretty nervous every time we stayed with someone because there was always the question of like what’s in it for them? Why are they letting random people stay at their house for free? The people we stayed with sometimes turned out to be weird and kind of put us on edge but a lot of the time they were really cool people too so. We were literally on such a tight budget we had no other option but to do our accomodation this way.

thorns of the future: are there artists you truly hate? why?

lucy: I don’t really hate any artist in terms of the kind of music they do like I respect all genres and whatever kind of music you wanna make even if I don’t like it. Like it’s got nothing to do with me so I don’t really care enough to HATE any artist.

thorns of the future: what is the best live show you've ever been to?

lucy: There’s this experimental electronic duo from Melbourne called Npcede. I played a show with them and they were really great. It was a guy singing and a guy playing bass. They both had like really amazing stage presence and interacted with the crowd so much. The lead singer started playing the electric guitar with a violin bow halfway through as well I loved it. I also have to mention seeing the band Film Noir in Berlin, they’re an indie rock band and the lead singer’s energy was so compelling it made the whole thing sooo immersive and fun.

thorns of the future: name one thing you really hate about australia.

lucy: Honestly I think Australia is a great place to live I think it’s beautiful, it’s diverse and it’s very liveable. If I had to say one thing I hated about it I guess just how far away it is from everything lol because it’s always so hard and expensive to travel anywhere.

thorns of the future: tell us about the weirdest thing that has happened to you as an artist.

lucy: The weirdest thing that’s happened to me as an artist is probably when someone randomly approached me on the street when I was in Tromso, Norway, and told me they recognise me and love my music. Was superrrr weird for me because Tromso is a pretty small town with not many people and it was just really random to meet someone who knows me there.

Hi!!! :D Who's your favorite fionna and cake character? What are some of your favorite scenes in the show? Do you have any headcanons for any of the characters?

Overall, my favourite character is definitely Simon, his relationship with Betty, but also his whole Ice King problem are so tragic and I love that.

However my favorite new character in the series is definitely the Star, I’ve always been a die-hard Marceline fan and I also just love her outfits, but her character is also, I think, a really good look at just how important Simon was to her, without him she doesn’t even have what’s arguably the biggest part of her character, and something she cares about deeply, her love and talent for/in music, I just like the (somewhat) subtle insight she gives into our current Marcy, and her relationship with Simon.

It’s honestly hard to come up with any specific scenes, since I liked almost all of them, but some of my favourite would probably be:

The 2 scenes where Simon (tries) to summon Golb, they aren’t really special characterwise or anything, but the colour pallet and just overall vibe is something I’m a big fan of

I really liked Simon’s rant to Finn in ep 2, it gave us a great look at where he is mentally, and just how much being Ice King really messed him up. I

The lich scene(s) in Jerry, seeing the lich unable to kill people because he’s too sad got a laugh out of me, but also Fionna’s “Everybody dies! Shouldn’t they get to die as themselves” hit hard, that whole conversation was so emotional and i just loved watching it. (also the specific animation style used in it is probably my favourite throughout the whole show, it just looks rlly nice)

Also in Jerry, Fionna’s breakdown in the candy kingdom was so good, it felt so emotional and idk just real, and Simon comforting her by talking about his dead(ish) wife, ough, just hits right in the feels.

There are definitely more, but it’s so hard for me to choose which since i genuinely enjoyed like all of them

I don’t have a lot of headcannons sorry, I don’t usually assign a whole bunch of headcanons to characters, the only one i can really think of off the top of my head would be that Betty is having the time of her life merged with Golb, We don’t get a lot of Betty characterisation outside of Simon, but my headcanon is that she was so interested in archeology and such since she just loves knowing things, and learning stuff, so being Golb a (probably) all-knowing being is like her top fantasy, her only issue is that she can’t see Simon, but outwide of that she’s enjoying herself a lot there

IM CRYING, IM GLAD YOUR OPEN TO MY SHIKANARU CAUSE EVERYBODY I TRY AND TALK TO ABOUT THIS SHIP DOESNT CARE I actually am making a story i just got to get it all together. IMA SHARE IT WITH YOU WHEN I GOT IT TOGETHER it's really just me changing some events in the story and making it where Naruto and Shikamaru end up together. My plans are to have Naruto end up with Shikamaru, I love Sai/Sakura but Ino loves Sakura and i don't understand the Ino/Sai i'm still watching the anime it's just i never finished my run so i started reading the manga back to the part im at and im at ep 145 of shippuden i think? I'm not allowing myself to finish watching it until my story is caught up to where i am. Back to what i was saying I'm thinking of making it Ino/Sakura/Sai but it's more of "This is my girlfriend Sakura and her boyfriend Sai" my reasoning for this is when Ino witnessed Sasuke pull that guys arms out the socket as a kid it traumatized her, made her scared of him and Sai apparently looks like Sasuke, they were saying he looked like Sasuke a little bit in the anime if i remember correctly. it just creeps her out. I don't think Ino really ever liked Sasuke she just liked him cause that's what was cool when she was a kid so the whole rivalry with Sakura was just built on that idea. I was rewatching some scenes and i think, ok i gotta back track a little bit. I headcanon Ino's famliy is the most chill with same-sex stuff, so like if their daughter was gay they wouldn't mind. Ino puts this thinking in Sakura's head but Sakura's not as understanding as a kid and thinking it's weird cause different households (Not saying her parents were homophobic, it's just never been brought up to her before) Ino finally realizes she's in love with Sakura after she comes to her rescue when he hair gets cut that's the whole of what i wanted to say. So from that point on Ino likes Sakura, Sakura still has her feelings for Sasuke and Naruto's crush on Sakura has gone. I noticed he still asked her on dates but ultimately before and after Sasuke leaves it really hits Naruto that Sakura holds something special to Sasuke. Tsunade even notices it when she watches him leave the room to give them a moment after she heals him, Naruto walks out the room and says he wants her to look at Lee but his body language said "Oh im not needed here" and his feelings looked a little hurt. Another thing Neji developing a crush on Shikamaru before and during the timeskip because those two are the smartest in the group meaning they must work together alot even if they weren't in the same squad, Chunin Neji and Chunin Shikamaru being paired up alot is something i look at with shining eyes. But Neji, he notices Shikamaru's crush on Naruto so backs off, this leads him to back to Lee cause i'm a huge Neji/Lee shipper as well. Now, i've been reading this fic i'll include it here (Love Is A Battlefield by MadamZenobia on AO3) my endgame ships are

As for Hinata i'm not throwing her away, just changing her motifs a little i guess? She has a crush on Naruto yes, after him being away for so long she has time to work on herself and find herself more. She does like him but it isn't what's going to make her happy. It isn't because i don't like Naruto/Hinata it's cute it's alright but it doesn't make sense even if i haven't seen the movies or episodes that show it. I feel like Hinata needs to do some self reflecting. Naruto is a huge inspiration to her, she's watched him train, become who he is but those two with a family together isn't something i can see happening even if it canonly happened, when i first got into this i didn't see it coming. So in my story Hinata is happy living her best life being single, watching her friends be happy together has brought her so much peace, even watching Naruto be happy with Shikamaru. (I wanna plan a talk she has with Shikamaru about his crush on Naruto and them discussing their feelings about Naruto so Shikamaru doesn't feel like he just took Naruto from her since from his point of view it looks like she liked him first but Shikamaru's had a crush on Naruto since he meet him, Shikamaru met Naruto first. ) I also have an idea of Hinata just wanting to be a single mother in Boruto, and Naruto/Shikamaru adopting and teaching a orphan both their Jutsu's turbsdfuvbhrsu IT'LL BE SO CUTE

I feel pretty neutral about Sai/Ino, not because I think they are madly in love or anything but in Boruto I like the dynamic I saw of them, plus inojin is my favorite kid so I'm biased here… But I'm also super down for a Sai/Sakura/Ino, with mostly Sakura being the bridge between them!!!

For me, Ino would be a lesbian who had to deal with a lot of compulsory heterosexuality, so she forced herself to have a crush on Sasuke when they were kids because that's just what girls are supposed to do, but after a small breakdown after a fight with sakura she talks to her parents and surprisingly it's them that tell her that she might have a crush on her and they tell her that it's okay if she feels that way and that there is nothing wrong with her.

I think it's pretty accurate that Sakura would be a little reluctant to accept that, but eventually, she does understand that she's bisexual and things become a little easier for her to figure out what she wants and who she wants to be! [Discovering non-monogamy/polyamory is a whole other can of worms so I'm not gonna get into that here unless you want me to!!]

I'M SO GLAD YOU BROUGHT UP NEJI AND SHIKAMARU. Okay I know they're not your main pairing but a few years ago I read a fic of them that to this day has a place in my brain, I will leave linked it here if you're interested

But yes, for our shikanaru endgame purpose, Neji is very perceptive so he kind of always knew he never really had a chance here, he backs off, and eventually, his feelings for someone else grow which is how we get to neji/lee!!

I like your take on Hinata, for me, i ship her with Kiba, he was so in love with her it's crazy, I don't know if you noticed the signs but they would have so much potential, honestly a throuple with shino would work too. But I also really like your take on her talking it out with shikamaru and realizing that her feelings for Naruto lean more toward admiration than actual romantic love, would love for her to have a happy life, would also really adore seeing her become the head of the Hyuuga clan and start making the changes Naruto promised Neji he would do it (and he never actually did it)!!

I've basically been doing very little with my time besides watching Shaman King 2021 so phew, here are some thoughts on Episodes 10-32!

Episode 10

The bit with everybody hanging out at the inn was adorable, hee.

I LOVE BOZ THEY'RE SO FUNNY

It's odd that Yoh is already paying that much attention to "Hao" considering the name has come up once? But yeah...

Ryu comes back!! And damn, he already qualified for the main tournament?

Bason and Ren are too cute. Also, it's interesting to watch Ren's mindset change and hee, we get the showdown against Tao En!

Episode 11

Phew — Ren gets captured by his Pops and the Zoldyck vibes INTENSIFY.

I don't remember the Tao family having their own Super Sentai Squad, but hey, it tracks!

It's a bit of a shame that these battles were concluded so quickly, but it was cool to see Horohoro and Ryu's upgrades!

Can't believe Tao Rn squeezed that poor baby panda to death only for it to be resurrected as a zombie in the next scene! SHEESH!

Episode 12

This episode also went at THE SPEED OF LIGHT! I cant believe we got Jun's dramatic rescue and the whole Tao En reveal and fight in the same episode! I mean, at this speed, Ren's deep loyalty to the gang does seem a bit goofy, but hey, I'll deal!

Ryu saying, "Just what exactly do you think wavering is?" had me laughing so much, oh man.

Episode 13

How is SO MUCH happeningin EVERY EPISODE?

Yoh and the crew leave home!

They meet Hao!

They get dropped out of a plane!

They meet Lilirara, who's really cool! There's sone backstory!

They go on their way — AND THEN LILIRARA DIES???

Wild!!!!

Horohoro continues to be adorable and guh, I'm really enjoying watching the episodes dubbed... honestly, the dub iis really, really good!

Episode 14

WHEEE LYSERG THE DOOFUS IS HERE... to be honest he's a lil green Sherlock. Isn't it nice that everyone has a colour-coded Oracle Bell lol Yoh's is orange and Lyserg's is green... it's been like 15 years but I still don't know if I've forgiven him for what comes later. Whoops.

Anna is such a great character and I love how much bearing she has on the story.

New ending! And it's Iron Maiden Jeanne!!

Also, the goof with 6 years versus 8 years... Lyserg's parents definitely weren't killed 6 years ago, sheesh.

Episode 15

Okay, so this was one of the eps where the pacing was definitely painful. Anna got a (hodgepodge) version of Hao's backstory — honestly, why didn't Yohmei just tell her the whole deal if he was going to reveal so much? And then, she dealt with Hao's familiars SO QUICKLY that there was like. No threat to them at all. I was expecting more boom bang...

But she did use the 1080 beads! We love the 1080 beads!

Horohoro is just one of the best characters and I loved his upgrade, gosh. Again, we could have had a whole episode dedicated to his time with Apollo, rather than 10 mins. I also don't know HOW Ranger Bluebell knew bout him wanting to become the Shaman King since that wasn't discussed

For obvious reasons, Morphin is renamed Morphia in the dub, hue.

Episode 16

Not much that I can say about this episode (I was a bit sleepy when I watched it). Ryu is getting an upgrade — at lastl! And this episode had some of the humour I love from Shaman King: the whole bit with the vampiric guys was SO funny. "If there are only 5 in the group, why do two of them look the same?!" Yoh/Ren/Horohoro are such a darling trio.

Episode 17

WHICH MEANS... ERIC STUART!!!

And man I hate Marco (thought ťhe X-Laws are great villains who basically permanently impacted mine and my friends' psyches; they're a specific type of evil) but boy oh boy, it is sooo good to hear Seto Kaiba in an anime again, sobs.

Lyserg... tbh, I don't think I ever forgave his betrayal back from 2001; THERE'S STILL A PART OF ME THAT'S MAD. I wonder if I might feel differently this time around but I half-expected the little green bean to run off with the X-Laws in this very episode so I was a bit surprised when he didn't.

And then a surprise! Hao chatted to Anna and Manta and Tamao! Anna looks so cool with the sunglasses, lol. Though... I feel like Manta's being from money is largely a plot device (because how else would everyone get to the States)... but I often find this with rich/wealthy characters. sighs!

Oh, also! The Shaman King timeline is SO WHACK. Like, Ryu says to Yoh: "You forgot about me in Izumo which is when I trained to be a shaman." But here's the problem. I think Ryu only went to Izumo in the he first place to take Manta there and THEN he trained with Yohmei — but the flashback reveals that Ryu had to wait for a week to get Yohmei to train him (why is Mikihisa Like That btw) which means that. Yoh would have already been back and fighting and drawing against Ren and therefore concluding prelims in the same time that Ryu was supposedly waiting for Yohemi to train him? And yet Ryu somehow had an Oracle Bell AND qualified for the main tournament? While Ren had only completed two battles?

fudjdjd stuff like this drives me absolutely cuckoo I NEED WRITERS TO HAVE CHARTS AND TOURNAMENT TABLES AND TIMELINES AND ALL ELSE. URHFJFJD

Episode 18

Phew... to say that the X-Laws are brutal is putting it lightly... and looking at Jeanne and the way she was in this episode and knowing that she ends up with Ren is very. HUH?

I kind of can't believe just how laidback Yoh is sometimes. It kinda irritates me a tiny bit? Back in the day, I couldn't choose between Yoh, Ren and Horohoro for the Favourite Character Spot, but I'm not firmly Team Horohoro, ehe.

Poor Team Niles. Gosh.

Episode 22

Crying and sobbing... why won't Shaman King just give me. A TIMELINE? So now I discover that it's been TWO MONTHS since they were in the Patch village (???) and it's already the last battle of the first round of the tournament (???) and that Anna already taught Team Funbari Hot Springs EVERYTHING in Hao's big bad book (???) and? We didn't get to see any of that? Like I understand this decision if that's how it went down in the manga and the double OS was a major, unprecedented reveal, but if not... I LOVE A TRAINING MONTAGE. Give me these arcs...

Also, the dub's choices for which terms to leave in Japanese are messy. They use words like Onmyoji and Ultra Senji Ryakketsu, but 'Mana' replaces 'furyoku'... like I'm pretty sure the 4Kids dub used furyoku because it was a term I was v. familiar with.

Anyway, its nice to see a battle span two eps!

Episode 23

Wowee... this episode got me teary. Ryu's upgrade is NICE and Anna talking about the flexibility of Yoh's furyoku was so sweet. I also love the Icemen and their design — and it was particularly cute to see Pino and Horohoro chatting together at the end.

And then Hao's whole convo with Ren (the 4Kids dub called him Len and Yoh nicknamed him Lenny which was the cutest; gah, things I miss!) was really interesting

BUT WHY HAS YOH SOUGHT OUT LYSERG THE TRAITOR... ooft!

Episode 24

WAAAA WHAT A COOL EPISODE?

Okay, so it turns out that I was wrong about all the matches being over because this ep was HAO VS THE X-LAWS and damn, Hao using OXYGEN as his medium? That's bloody cool!!!

The OST in this ep was top tiiieeer and freaking — the X-Laws being humanised? A bit? I am SHOCKED.

Episode 25

Revelations galore... and Yohmei Tries to Commit Infanticide: Extended Edition.

WOW I LOVED THIS EPISODE.

The senior Asakura and Tao folks coming together to discuss Hao's bigtime book and the gang finally finding out about Yoh's origins! I got to see TAO RAN again (I love her) and freaking heck, Mikihisa is so cool? I guess jury has to be out with him a liiiittle bit because I've seen people commenting that he sucks. But. I have a major soft-spot for shounen dads (Goku, Echizen Nanjiroh, Van Hohenheim, Kurosaki Isshin...) and I reckon Mikihisa ticks cool points.

And freaking Ren! Why is everyone so cool??

Once again, the timeline is WHACK because there's really no way it can be the year 2000 at the time of the Shaman Fight unless I'm missing something huuuge... Yoh and Anna really should've been 8 when they met, not 10?

And I'm finally meeting Matamune!

But he was in the last Shaman Fight dhdhd i guess Hao couldn't have participated since he was a Patch that time but what happened at the fight 1000 years ago?

Oh man, I can see why people were so obsessed with this arc... there is just so much emotion here from all sides: Matamune (having to defeat Hao!!), Yoh and Anna, Kino — everything.

You can see why Yoh and Anna are the dream team, wow.

Also, I looked up a timeline and I think I can make my peace with it being the year 2000 in canon... but the anime did not explain it AT ALL, which is pretty poor.

I share the same sentiments with you! It was great to see that they added that new baby Boruto flashback scene with first time parents NH, but the entire episode did feel something lacking.

I was under the impression (there were hints about it that I saw somewhere before) that the episode would be somewhat similar to how it was during the Kurama episode, but I kinda... Didn't feel that?

I wasn't alone in watching that episode btw, and we had expressed that there was something missing in the overall feel of the episode. We were like, watching another regular episode for Boruto... Sure the animation was great, the fight scenes were well-executed, and the end part with Kawaki and Boruto was a good way to finish the series, but the emotions? Especially while Naruto was still holding on to Boruto, in complete denial of what happened... I was like - detached, neutral towards the whole thing.

And I know it's not because we already knew what was coming - we're all manga readers - we knew what was going to happen to Kurama but the emotions felt during the parts they were reminiscing had a lot of impact. Comparing that to the Boruto finale, well... Idk... I'm not even sure if I'm explaining this properly lol

Born I just started feeling uneasy and afraid that I might be a partypooper because of the tags I wrote, especially to you Born since you were the OP of the post. I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable of what I said because everybody seems to enjoy the entirety of the episode (which is great! how long has it been since we hear good news from the Boruto episode?) Beats me.

But I'm relieved now that you felt the same way! If compared to Kurama's farewell, YES I AGREE WITH YOU!!!?!! We knew what's gonna happen and we just needed to sit back and watch how they'd execute the scene and I was literally crying and sobbing and choking on my breath even after a while I finished the ep of Kurama's farewell. It was so heartfelt and they absolutely did the scene justice! Even until now, I still feel a clench in my chest whenever I play the outro of that episode because it'd ALWAYS flood me with nostalgia of the feelings I felt when I watched it.

I was kinda expecting, nah, I really put my expectations high for this ep as well and maybe that's what makes it even more.....dare I say, disappointing? (no offense to those who enjoy the ep! your feelings are valid!!!)

My expectations skyrocketed once I saw the opening scenes of Naruto's core memories of baby Boruto and I was reaaaaally anticipating to see those glimpses come to life in the actual episode, with longer version, deeper flasback, and a profound heartfelt scenes!!!! Even when I was fascinated by the fight scenes, my mind would alway wonder "where's it? where's Naruto and (dead)Boruto? where's their moment and the flasbacks?????"

But then suddenly he got revived and I was like, "that's it?????????" 😭

I don't know...........it felt like....... everything just happened in a flash......too fast......like they rushed it to fit the 24minutes of the ep......like there's not enough time...... Even after finishing the ep, I was like, "where's my tears????????"

Nothing is stopping SP to go all out with the ep, like, wasn't it the finale of part 1????? I expect we'd get some blow in the guts with the ep hahahahahs that's (maybe) where I made my mistake. 😀

But my mami Hinata looked so good in the opening scene and for me it's their redeeming point lolol (though you must have also noticed the inconsistency of her hair? lol)

So that's my conclusion of the entire ep. I love love the opening and the ending, but the middle of the ep feels like it was lacking something....idk how to properly address this but I'm sure you understand what I mean😀❤️

Genshiken (part 2 ep. 5,10,11)

Something about this show doesn't sit right with me, and with the introduction of the more westernized perception of otakus it just made me feel uneasy. While this was very similar to the first set of episodes we watched for the show I generally think that this set of episodes was aimed at the West and such. It was a little icky to see really characters using phrases that would really only be said in animes and such to try and get through their day in Japan, and as somebody who is learning Japanese not because of a love for anime but instead a love for the culture and people of Japan. I have had people assume that because I'm learning Japanese it's for something I'm watching versus because I want to embrace a culture that I have found interesting since I was young and that can be very hard because people will not want to associate with you because of their preconceived notions about anime enjoyers. The overgeneralized stereotypes in the show Make for a seemingly forced idea on what otakus are, and I think that this portrayal is almost casting otakus in a negative light. I think that a majority of people that enjoy consuming media from Japan and other Asian countries aren't to this extreme. Because of this show however people will lean towards the extreme versus getting to know the individuality that comes with everybody's perception of media. For example Suzie is seen in this grouping of episodes saying what could be seen as random things that could be seen in animes and we do not really know if they understand what they are saying or assuming that it means one thing based on what they saw in a show. I think that generally being able to have an understanding about of the world we live in is a very powerful thing however that also comes with people that are going to engross themselves in it to an almost unhealthy extent, and that's where I draw the line.

Persona 2 Eternal Punishment

I watched a playthrough that I thought was the PSP ver but turned out to be the PS2 ver. 🤷‍♀️

You walk pretty fast for back then.

Graphics hold up. Then again, I grew up on old games. Sometimes, older graphics are better.

Oh, I see this is the PS 2 ver. Still has good graphics. I wondered why everybody was all "We got a localized P2EP". I honestly thought that the video I had was in Japanese. Then, I find out that the PSP ver was never localized till recently.

Spoilers for Ep 3 of Rings of Power, Adar Reaction/Thoughts:

The warg totally freaked me out, and that's a good thing. Mostly because, well, just look at its eyes. In the Peter Jackson movies the wargs themselves were much bigger in size and more muscular. But this one...man. This warg's eyes were eerily human, wide-eyed and just filled with this pain, insanity and desperation I can't describe. It reminded me less of the tough, vicious wargs of the Jackson films and more of a wild, rabid dog, something of a mix between a hyena, a chihuahua and a boar. Parts of its body look infected, burned and torn. The way it acts speaks more of a malnourished, beaten animal, so hungry and in pain it is willing to do anything just to feed itself. The state of the poor creature, and the amount of cruelty it must have faced to turn out this way is heartbreaking to think about despite how dangerous it is. Some people think it looks weird but I think it works very well with Tolkien's philosophy of "the shadow can only mock it cannot make". The warg is not so much its own creature as it is a mix of different creatures and the result of many twisted experiments, abused and tormented until its totally deranged.

2. Numenor looks EPIC, and I love it. The score for Numenor is amazing, and matches very well. Seeing Characters like Elendil, Isildur, Miriel and Pharazon was fantastic, and I can't wait to see more of them. Elendil has to be my favorite though. The actor just nails his character so well. AND THE ELROS MENTION EVERYBODY??? I was literally giggling with joy. Seeing the look on my mom's and sister's faces when they discovered Elrond had a twin was worth it.

3. Dang, they really are going full Aragorn with Halbrand aren't they? (Specifically the movie version.) I personally don't go with the theory that Halbrand is Sauron, but I really hope that it'll go full reverse with the Aragorn paralells and Halbrand ends up becoming one of the nazgul or something similar, possibly even the Witch King. And the scene where Halbrand just went absolutely savage and just destroyed those numenoreans was brutal. It was pretty horrifying to watch. Do you have to put in so much gore, Amazon?

4. My eyebrows immediately raised when I learned Earien(An original character for Rop, and Isildur's sister) was an architect. When it comes to sub-creators in Tolkien's world, things rarely go well for them, even the more decent ones. Maybe she'll be the one responsible for the construction of the Temple of Melkor when Sauron comes around to Numenor?

5. I love how they remembered the little detail of Elves being treehuggers just as much as Tolkien was. The way Arondir looks around him before he's about to chop the tree down, then puts his hand on the tree, and in elvish whispers "forgive me"...just dang, man.

6. The fact that we only get one blurry shot of Adar at the very end of the episode is driving me insane. I don't think Adar is Sauron as it seems too early in the season to make such a reveal, and a little too obvious since the characters themselves theorized that Adar could be Sauron. But whoever Adar is, I am incredibly interested. Sure, he totally breaks Tolkien lore but I honestly find the idea of an Elf working for the dark lord, not to mention respected and revered by the orcs, fascinating. Who is he? How did he become corrupted? Why do the orcs call him Adar, the elvish word for father? I genuinely have no idea and that's what makes him interesting.

7. Seeing that Elf finally get out of the trenches only to be killed almost immediately reminds me so much of Tolkien's experience with war. Like, this was the stuff he saw and experienced, the stuff that haunted him for decades afterwards, and it's harrowing to see such a haunting reminder of that.

The semi-regular “seeking an anime to watch” struggle

I’m in that awkward period where I’m trying to find an anime I haven’t seen before that I can really sink into, and I’m coming up pretty dry.

It’s been a pretty good year overall, I gotta say. Tomadachi Game, Trapped in a Dating Sim and Lycoris Recoil have been my three highlights as far as “new anime in 2022″ have been concerned. And of course season 2 of The Devil is a Part-Timer! was wonderful to have as well! LOVE that series. 

But lately, I’m bouncing off a TON of shows that I’m trying to get invested in. New and old alike. :( I’m just having a bad run.

I did try watching “Spy x Family” earlier for most of season 1, and it’s cute, but... I keep waiting for the relationships to progress and the stakes to go up, and neither one ever happens? It’s just kinda cute, and occasionally something funny happens for a moment, and that’s about it. Then I found out that in the manga, the Forgers are STILL all oblivious to their various identities/powers... and I lost a lot of interest. Fucking seriously, you’re gonna drag it out THAT fucking long??? There is SO MUCH material to be mined from revealing those things both emotionally and in terms of how it would affect the plot and action going forward! It’d be SO heartwarming to see them start to accept each other for who they are! But NOOOPE. Seems we’re gonna just wait until the VERY END to do anything with that and simply run in place endlessly ‘til then! Well, bored now.

So I gave “Saga of Tanya the Evil” a shot. And I guess the title should’ve warned me that there’s a severe “Who am I rooting for here?” problem. I’m only four episodes in, but I’m struggling to figure out who I should be latching onto. I guess I expect Tanya to be more of a “sneering, manipulative, sinister-acting force for good” kind of like the protagonist of Tomadachi Game, right? But nah; the “Evil” label seems entirely sincere thus far. At least I can relate to the characters uncertainty/skepticism about the presence of a higher power (”Being X”), but I also want Tanya to accept the reality of the situation as the evidence piles up. In addition to that, some of the art style is really off-putting to me? Specifically Vishna, who certainly isn’t treated as though she’s a freakish-looking person in the world of the series, but she definitely looks it to me...

I started watching “Neon Genesis Evangelion” for the first time recently, but... I’m halfway through the series (13 eps) now, and it still hasn’t grabbed me. I wonder if this is just one of those “It was revolutionary for the time, but everybody’s copied it so much by now that it’s not that exciting anymore” kind of situations? Like, did you have to be there? The kids obviously have some psychological depth to them, but... I mean It kinda feels like maybe the fact that these characters have any psychological problems at all is entirely what was once the appeal, and we’ve had TONS of that kind of thing for decades now, so I can’t feel impressed. Or maybe all of the interesting stuff is in the back half? Idk. Shinji is boring, Rei is a blank slate, Asuka is irritating, Misato is an alcoholic but is probably the most likable character... oy.

I wonder if you can do William with gender neutral s/o is similar like Sebastian Michaelis from Black butler/kuroshitsuji, where s/o is a demon and William makes a contract with them, but in return s/o will eat William's soul when his goal is fulfilled, here s/o plays a great butler , they can do anything, always obeys William's orders, and is always by William's side protecting him ,I hope you understand what I mean. ;)

These words still echoed in your head even after almost two decades had passed.

Perching on the balcony's railing and looking down boredly at the people passing by in hurry beneath your feet,you couldn't help but to sigh;your master had ordered tou to stay outside and not show yourself unless the emergency calls or he himself calls out for you.

You sigh again and lean back slightly to stare up at the sky;it has been a cloudy day so far,and the weather was now colder than it was in the afternoon. The sky is already turning dark, considering the gray clouds surrounding it.

You cant help but to frown;William was going to get sick if he stays out in a weather like that.

Your gaze shifts to the people down below in the streets,now lesser than before; everybody going home or seeking a shelter from the weather that clearly promises a really hard rain. You wish you could've gone home sooner,and do something instead of waiting out in the cold. Although it doesnt bother you,it still makes you irritated and bored.

But all your thoughts come to a halt when the whole world suddenly grows quiet. You dont know its whether because you're a demon,or just your bond with him,but you know that William's in danger before anything happens.

Then,you see it,and the breath that you dont even need to take gets trapped inside your lungs;up on the bridge across you,a figure get thrown,but before falling down snatches at the bridge floor, barely clutching to life on the edge of the stones.

It could be anyone,heck, it could be the person William was going to fight with (some old man from government who's been killing children left and right for fun,) its hard to say with the black cloak he's wearing. But then the figure turns his head,and his single ruby eye makes contact with you.

You hear his voice before he can even scream.

'save me.'

Then,he falls down.

Everything seems to happen in slow motion. As a demon,you can just teleport yourself to places you want,or travel at the speed of light. But that moment,the mere seconds that you froze,William had already fell down and just when you blinked to open your eyes to the place he was supposed to be,you find the rushing water under the bridge,smooth like nothing has ever happened.

Like William didnt fall into the river just then.

You dont need to breath,and you're glad; because in that moment you would've stopped breathing from the panic that was filling your lungs, suffocating you until you choked on thin air.

you took a deep breath,and closed your eyes. When you opened them next,you were already under the water.

When you laid William's motionless body on the shore,you were freezing and your whole body was trembling violently. You knew it wasnt because of the cold water sticking to your skin,you knew it was because of the man laying on the ground,his skin deadly pale and not breathing at all.

William James Moriarty was dead,and his sould was now yours to claim.

Feeling your body thrumming with the new energy,the soul bonding curse coming to an end,you couldn't help but to let the tears fall down from your cheeks.

You were William's demon,true. But you helped him because you loved the man,not to claim his soul.

Your breath hitches as an idea comes to your mind;what if you didnt accept his soul? It was yours now,wasnt it?what if you.....

You glance down at the soaked man in your lap,and take a deep breath before bending down and-

You never imagined William's lips be this soft.

Breaking the spell,was exhausting and took too much energy from you. Returning the claimed soul was against any rules,but you would break every single one of them for the man you loved so much.

And when a loud gasp comes from your beloved,your eyes snap open only to be met with one single scarlet eye.

"y/n..."

When you let out a sob and bury your face in William's wet coat, there's a shaky hand stroking your hair, soothing fingers rubbing your skin.

"thank you...i love you."

You stare down at the silver wedding ring adoring your finger,as your friends adjust your white wedding dress.

When there's a knock on the door,you snap out of your daze state and look up to see Albert smiling at you.

When you nod and take his hand,he guides you to where you soon to be husband is.

William is breathtaking in his white tuxedo;with his golden locks pushed back and his scarlet eyes (now two,after breaking the deal) standing down the aisle. When you step towards him,his eyes immediately find yours and you can already feel yourself tearing up a litte.

as you take his hand and stand in front of him,he gives you a gentle smile and brings your hand up to his lips to press a loving kiss to your knuckles.

"thank you for catching me when i fall... I'll love you for eternity and beyond."
