OC Height Tag
Tagged to play by @wintherlywords in this post!
How-to: Describe or show your characters' heights.
Most people are smart and used Hikaku to do this the easy way. I, a fool, took a screenshot of the empty height chart and spent hours scouring Canva for the right silhouettes to add.

Top left: Our put-upon protagonist from Apophenia, Isaac (5'5"), the dashing deuteragonist, Renato (5'5" too!), and everyone's fav frenemy, Oleander (5'10").
Top right: Arguably the deadliest monsters in town, Motley (5'10") and Kinslayer (5'9"). And, just for fun, what will fit of Kinslayer's terrifying shadow (over 12', but can vary).
Bottom left: A trio of Eureka, NV's womenfolk. Wereshark/mechanic Tecla (5'2"), local bar and hotel owning witch Breezy (5'8"), and anthropologist/Tecla's wife Gilda (5'9").
Bottom right: I couldn't leave out Elfy (5'3"), Isaac's best friend and beloved bad influence, of course.

[Begin Image ID]: A Comic Sans presentation about characters from a paranormal fantasy story called Apophenia. Each slide has at least two images of characters, from Picrew or art commissions.
Slide One shows the title, how to pronounce it, and has line drawings of a desert landscape with cacti and rock formations along the bottom half. There is a full moon and tiny images of stars filling the sky.
Slide Two is about the protagonist, Isaac Soto Márquez. He's a Mexican-American man in his late twenties with dark brown skin, brown eyes, curly black hair, and scars from claw marks on his back.
Slide Three is on the deuteragonist, Renato Faria Dimas. He's a Brazilian-Portuguese trans man who appears to be in his early to mid twenties. He has light tan skin, green-blue eyes, wavy black hair that's shorn close on the sides but longer on top, and a confident smile.
Slide Four is about Isaac's friend, Delfina Bosques-Rodriguez, nicknamed Elfy. She's a bubbly Puerto Rican woman in her late twenties with medium brown skin, brown eyes, and curly reddish-brown hair piled on top of her head in one Picrew, but worn down around the level of her jaw in another. She has multiple piercings in her eyebrows and ears, plus one in her septum. Her lipstick is a bright purple.
Slide Five is on Kinslayer. They're an androgynous person who could be anywhere from late twenties to late thirties, possibly of South Asian descent or a mixture that includes it. Their skin is a deep brown, eyes black, and they have a side shave with their black hair falling to one side. In one Picrew they're holding a lit cigarette; in the other they're licking their lips in a suggestive way.
Slide Six is Renato's coworker/ex, Oleander Blume. She's a goth or metalhead trans woman from Texas who appears to be in her mid to late twenties. She has light pink/white skin, blue eyes, and slightly messy blonde hair. She wears black lipstick in one Picrew. In a commissioned art piece, her mouth and hands are smeared with blood.
Slide Seven shows an antagonist, Motley. It's an undead necromancer of indeterminate age and origin. Its skin is grayish, showing stitching around patches it's added to itself. It has red eyes, sharp teeth in a sinister smile, and wears a hooded cloak.
Slide Eight is a round up of six characters who live in or are spotted around the town of Eureka, Nevada. They are as follows:
Anaru is a broad, friendly-looking Pacific Islander man in his early or mid twenties. He has medium brown skin, short wavy black hair, and a broad frame. The thresher shark silhouette by his Picrew means he's one of the local weresharks.
Tecla is a fat, butch Mexican-American woman in her late twenties to thirties. She has medium brown skin, short black hair, and a horizontal scar on her forehead above her left eyebrow. The great white shark silhouette by her Picrew means she's one of the local weresharks.
Gilda is a fat, Black Brazilian trans woman in her late twenties to thirties. Her skin is a deep, warm brown, and her short hair has been dyed purple. She has a gold nose ring that matches the small gold hoop earrings on her ears. The pick and shovel symbol by her Picrew means she's an archeologist.
Haru is a goth Japanese-American man who appears to be in his mid to late twenties. His skin is pale, and his black hair almost reaches his shoulders. He's sucking on a lollipop. The broken mirror symbol by his Picrew means he's a psychic vampire.
Breezy is a witchy/hippy Midwestern American woman in her fifties or sixties. Her light pink/tan skin has fine lines around her dark eyes and smiling mouth. Her long white hair is loosely tied back with strands escaping around her face. She's wearing a gardening glove. The witch hat near her Picrew means she's a magical practitioner.
Larry is a Black American man from Nevada in his fifties wearing a tank top with a game fish on it. His dark brown skin has lines across his forehead and around his eyes. His short black hair has thinned on top, with some still on the sides. A short, thin beard covers his jaw. The bull shark silhouette by his Picrew means he's one of the local weresharks.
That's all for Slide Eight.
Slide Nine thanks everyone for reading and lists the various Picrews used.

What is your favorite part of the world you have crafted for our Dysthanasia saga?
Thank you for the ask @wyked-ao3 !
My favorite part, like, geographically? Probably the Broken Coast, which runs from the northwest corner of Mexico and Arizona, up through much of western Nevada, and cuts across northern California.
The shallow-ish sea that now covers those places is full of the ruins of modern civilization. The coastline itself is jagged, hammered by seasonal storms and shaken regularly by minor earthquakes, which are reminders of the Break. Yet people, both mundane and supernatural, still live and work there. Salvagers, smugglers, werecreatures (sharks, cougars, and wolves primarily), archaeologists, homesteaders, farming collectives, religious sects, and many others populate the coastal deserts and territory cities.
And now, possibly, there are merfolk. Which should be totally fine and peaceful. >.>

A new announcement just came out a couple days ago regarding the new game (Dysthanasia) from the dev who made Demonophobia/Xenophobia!!! In the past, it was set for release a month or so ago but seemed like it got cut short last second since it didn't get past Dl-site's review policies... But just two days ago, on the 12th, a new update was posted saying progress is being made towards the release again!!!
Nothing massive, but I hope we can expect a full release soon... 👀 There is a demo available that you can find through the dev's Ci-en as well, for now! On their Twitter, it should be the main pinned post :3<

OC Questions Tag
Thanks to @winterandwords for tagging me in this game! I will go ahead and tag @dysthanasia-series @wynters-writings @starlit-hopes-and-dreams and @writerfae as well as an open tag for you
I'm gonna use Braxous from The Tales of Ozoarth for this game as I have been thinking about him a lot.
--
5 words to physically describe your OC
Imposing, muscular, sharp, scarred, and emotionless.
Who inspired your OC?
No one in particular. My OCs tend to just jump into my brain and demand attention. Braxous is a very old OC as well; over a decade old, and has gone through a lot of changes over the years, so I do not really recall what first inspired him unfortunately.
Give me a song to define your OC
Wolf and Raven (Slow Version) by Sonata Arctica
youtube
Grant me a wish, my master Compassion, please I'd like to be a human Maybe one day
If I met your OC on the street how would they greet me?
He would not greet you. He tends to keep to the shadows and moves to get from point A to point B. Those who try and greet him tend to be ignored.
Can your OC be your best friend? Why?
Braxous is a loner and although he does have a few friends, he still keeps them at an arm's distance. He avoids getting too close to others as he doesn't want to put those he does care about in danger; either from himself or others.
So... not really.
1 adjective and 1 noun to describe your OC
Dangerous Hurt

OCs vs. A Cockroach Tag
Thank you for the tag, @dysthanasia-series. I'd seen this one floating around and was delighted to finally get tagged for it myself. Going to do this one for the Empty Names cast.
Rules: rate your ocs on how well they'd fare against a cockroach
Passing the (optional) tag to @kyofsonder, @jinnybinghamsghost, @friendzonefrog, @blind-the-winds, @talesofsorrowandofruin, and an open tag for anyone else who wants it.
Rating on a scale of 0 [abject defeat] to 10 [flawless victory]:
Lacuna: 3/10
She tries to catch the roach under a cup or similar containment vessel so she can throw it outside. Due to a combination of mediocre coordination and flinching every time the roach moves too suddenly she ends up accidentally squishing it instead. She flushes the remains, thoroughly sterilizes the impact site, and spends the rest of the day being sad about having killed it.
Ashan: N/A
He's spent more than half his life on the road in pseudo-medieval fantasy world, and that involved a lot of wandering through woods, sleeping in questionable roadside taverns, and going down into monster dungeons. And since coming back to Earth he's spent most of his night sleeping in public parks and alleyways (while levitating a foot off the ground and surrounded by a perception-filtering privacy ward). Anything smaller than a large rat that isn't actively trying to bite or sting him doesn't really phase him. Live and let live, he does not engage the cockroach.
Eris: 8/10
She successfully catches the roach under a cup or similar containment vessel and tosses it outside. Or just steps on it if she's in too much of a hurry to bother. Either way she marks on her shopping list to get replacement roach traps for the apartment the next time she's out.
Sullivan: 1/10 or 10/10 (conditional)
If he's home alone, he spends the rest of the day tearing his hair out as he meticulously stalks the roach, charting its movements, trying to figure out how and why it got into the Bridgewood Manor pocket dimension and why the cleaning and maintenance golems haven't disposed of it already. Is it someone's familiar? A cleverly disguised construct? A spy? An assassin? A message from his dearly departed wife? All of the above? Surely it couldn't possibly be just an ordinary cockroach? Could it?
With an audience however, he skips all that questioning and goes straight to producing the thinnest knife you've ever seen, skewering the roach from across the room, walking over, picking up the pinned insect, staring the most squeamish person in the room dead in the face, and then swallowing it whole.
Road: 10/10
They befriend the roach with a snack so it crawls into their hand and then they gently take it outside and find a rotting log or something to put it under.

what is your favorite thing about necromancers?
@wyked-ao3 Hello! Well, I can't speak for others' necromancers, but the thing I love about mine is that each one reflects different facets of the beauties, horrors, and approaches of/to death.
Phileas Hawthorne, for example, is a dour, clinical, heartless (literally) sonuvabitch. He cares for nothing but getting results, no matter the methods. Once his curiosity is satisfied he simply moves on to the next project, losing interest in the former. He is unmoved by the agony, desolation, and waste he causes in the name of progress.
Ursula von Trier, on the other hand, simply wants to make friends and maybe experiment on them once in a while, okay, fine. Or rather the ancient chaos deity that's moved into her corpse like an eldritch hermit crab wants friends because it spent eons locked away and hated by the rest of its pantheon. Her mouth is fixed in a smiling rictus that's intensely creepy...until you realize it's her attempt to appear approachable and put humans at ease. It's weird, yeah, but maybe kinda sweet?
There are necromancers who base their magical practices around faith and aiding both the living and dead. That sew pieces of hide skinned from humans and animals onto itself to turn into those people or creatures as it wanders the wilderness. Necromancers who preserve languages, stories, music, and art long buried. Some see it as their duty to cull the weak and push the survivors to overcome via destruction. Others believe in supporting growth, renewal, and harmony.
Necromancers also ask what even is "human" or "alive" anyway? What happens when someone is still physical, yet the body isn't flooded by hormonal elixirs? How does one experience emotion then? Gender? What drives them if not "natural instincts"? What's a "soul"? How much of it is responsible for who a person is?
So, ummmmm. Yeah. I enjoy how necromancers can be a lens or a metaphor or something for all sorts of viewpoints and questions. Thank you for sending in this ask!

OC in 15
This one is taking advantage of the lovely @ceph-the-ghost-writer and their Dysthanasia taglist (find their fantastic version of this game here) to justify playing more games :3
Rules: Share 15 or fewer lines of dialogue from an OC, ideally lines that capture the character/personality/vibe of the OC. Bonus points for just using the dialogue without other details about the scene, but you’re free to include those as well!
I'm having a Moment, so I'm gonna use one of my Shapeshifter OC's y'all have only seen once in a blue moon, but who is very dear to my heart and has a surprisingly large well of writing to his name. May I introduce Dean Matthews, coyote shifter and eloquent bastard?
“Morning, sunshine."
“A bribe.”
“How’re you feeling?”
“I bribed, you accepted.”
“Everything okay?”
“When’s the last time you slept, kid?”
“Get in the truck.”
“What do you want?”
“Kitchen.”
"Hey, Kitkat. You have fun with Aunt Talia?"
gently tagging @sunset-a-story @serenanymph @deanwax @trippingpossum <3
