Let's make a brief presentation of the generations in my family dynamic from left to right : 4th generation is composed of Thomas Simpa (son of Sergio Romeo & Angela Simpa), Leah Romeo, Oliver Romeo, Guillaume Romeo (adoptive son of the Romeo's) and Rachel Romeo.
Then we have Romeo's cousinhood : Ariana, Owen, Ohio, Rick, Odilia, Cleo and Angeni.
Lastly, there's Aya Romeo, she's Guillaume wife and mother of Rick, Ariana and Cleo. Then we have Rachel's husband, Kai Winslow, Angeni's father. And finally, Vincent, Oliver's husband.

Clark Kent (Movie Outline)
This is another movie in my series of Superman movies incorporating every major villain and ally. This one however, would function a bit like "The Batman" in that it seems to be an entirely separate standalone series outside of the Cinematic Universe, until it is revealed to be a part of it through a plot twist later on. But we'll get to that part.
The movie will open with a brief little montage retelling Clark's origin, with him being found as a baby, raised by Jonathan and Martha, and growing up as a mostly normal kid. This montage will be intercut with hands carefully constructing various children's toys, which will seem to just be a whimsical touch about childhood, but will have deeper meaning on a rewatch.
We will start in on a thirteen-year-old Clark, celebrating his birthday with his parents. The news will cut to a bombing of a local senator's mansion, drawing their attention for a minute, before Clark's super-hearing kicks in for the first time and his ears are filled with the screams and tears coming from the actual location. His parents will try to help him, but it will quickly subside.
The next morning, Clark will head to school and we'll get to meet some of his friends, including his crush Lana Lang, his best friend Pete Ross, another close friend Whitney Fordman, a friend with a crush on him named Chloe Sullivan, and the preppy popular girl Leslie Willis. We'll get to see their dynamic together through various scenes, and Whitney will casually mention that he is going on a family trip and needs to pick up a toy for his cousin's birthday, which will lead to them visiting a local toy shop in town, where the shopkeeper Winslow is friendly with them, having sold them all lots of toys in their childhood.
Later that night, Clark's will have another sudden burst of super-hearing but this time he will hear Whitney's voice alongside a strange whirring noise. He will also end up developing laser vision and destroy a section of his family's crops, while smashing his sink with his bare hands.
The next morning, Clark will receive news that Whitney and his family were all killed in a horrible car crash the night before. We will see him and his friends at the funeral. Leslie will get the idea that they should all spend the day in town, and we'll see some general childhood scenes. They'll stop off in Winslow's shop, where Winslow will console them over their loss. They will also notice that the wealthy Luthor children Lex and Lena are in the shop, but Clark will have to duck out early as his x-ray vision starts to kick in and he sees through everything around him.
At home that night, he will be talking to his parents about not knowing what's happening to him. Jonathan and Martha will tell him they have something they need to tell him, but before they do, he will hear that strange whirring sound again, accompanied by the Luthor children's voices. He will start running toward their mansion, but his super speed will kick in and he will blow right past it. Doubling back, he will arrive just in time to see the whole house explode in flames, killing everyone inside.
Back at home, Jonathan and Martha will finally reveal to Clark that he's not really their child, that they found him as a baby and have his ship buried in their field. Martha says she has to assume that these powers are a natural part of his actual species.
We then get a series of scenes of Clark training with Jonathan and Martha, the three together learning about his powers and figuring out how to control them. We'll also get scenes of him with his friends, like him trying to flirt with Lana, but due to his training with powers, he ends up missing out and she and Pete start growing closer instead. Little by little, Clark starts getting better, developing his super-strength, speed, x-ray vision, heat vision, and super-hearing.
One night, he finds out that Lana is going on a date with Pete, and feels sad about it in town, being comforted by Chloe. As they sit together, he hears that same strange whirring sound and recognizes Pete and Lana's sound in the same vicinity. He races to find them, spots the whirring item as something inside a present Pete is holding behind his back. He rushed past them, knocking the present from Pete's hand and into the water, where it explodes. Pete and Lana are both stunned, but Clark believes they're okay. Until he hears a similar whirring with Leslie's voice nearby.
He races as fast as he can to her house, arriving quickly, just barely managing to grab Leslie when what looks like a fancy toy she'd bought for her mother detonates. He pulls Leslie to safety but the sudden whiplash and the force of the explosion knocks her out and leaves her seriously wounded, while her house and the rest of her family are killed.
Clark calls 911 and Leslie is taken to the hospital. Chloe, Pete, and Lana all come to see her, while Clark is comforted by Jonathan and Martha. Wanting to be alone for a while, Clark goes on a walk through town, and stops in at Winslow's shop for some of the cookies Winslow prepares for the kids that come to visit.
Pete and Lana talk with Chloe in the hospital room, Pete mentioning how that could have been them, talking about how he had bought a present from Winslow that day to give to Lana but it had fallen in the lake and exploded. Chloe remembers how Leslie had just bought her mom a present from Winslow for her birthday, and how Whitney had bought a present for his cousin. They then remember the Luthors had been at his shop as well. Jonathan and Martha put it together, and they race out to find Clark.
Winslow comforts Clark about the fates of the Willis family. He mentions how he had once worked with Leslie's father in the Luthorcorp R & D department. Clark is surprised, not knowing Winslow once worked for the Luthors, and Winslow regales him with how he had once been a respected engineer and inventor, until his patents were stolen by the Luthors and he'd been forced from the company, leaving little hints here and there that the senator from the beginning, Leslie's dad, and one of both Whitney and Pete's parents had been involved. Winslow has a brief moment where his mask slips, but he quickly hides it and acts like he's perfectly content as a toymaker now.
It all starts to come together in Clark's head. He looks around the room, noticing the same toy that had exploded in the Willis house. He switches over to x-ray vision and recognizes the same gears and components he had noticed inside of Pete's present. He gets to his feet and says "It was you." Winslow tries to brush it off, like Clark is just imagining things, but soon it becomes clear that the jig is up, and Winslow activates secret mechanisms that lock his shop down and trap both of them inside.
Winslow apologizes to Clark, saying he has no beef with him, but however he figured it out, he can't let his cover be blown now, not when he's so close to completing his revenge. He activates a number of traps hidden within his toys, but is stunned when Clark is not phased by a single one of them. Clark, full of rage, lets loose a barrage of heat vision around the store, destroying everything in it and setting the building ablaze. Winslow asks "What are you?" and tries to run but Clark catches him in seconds and beats him down, punching at him and nearly killing him.
Jonathan and Martha arrive just in time, shouting at him to stop. Clark stops, just before landing the killing blow, and yells at them that he killed Whitney, and that he tried to kill Pete and Leslie. Jonathan and Martha say they know, but remind him that he is not like him. This convinces Clark to not kill Winslow and leave him in the burning building.
The cops shortly arrive and arrest Winslow, the cops assuming from all the evidence inside the shop, that one of his exploding toys malfunctioned, setting off a chain reaction, and catching himself in the blast. As he is carried away, he tries to claim that a superhuman child did all of this but no one believes him.
Winslow's arrest and implication in all of the bombings is all over the news the next day. Leslie has made a full recovery and is back at school. She mentions how she will be living with her aunt now. Chloe brings up Winslow's claim of a superhuman taking him down, and Pete remembers someone bumping into him to make him drop his present. Leslie says she was saved by something similar, but that person only saved her and left her parents and siblings to die.
Clark talks to his parents about it all. He doesn't know where his powers come from, but if he can use them to stop bad people like Winslow from hurting and killing others, then that's what he wants to use them for. Jonathan and Martha agree to support them and they start coming up with plans for how.
A post-credits scene shows a similar ship flying through space, a panel on the outside showing one life sign inside, a small flashing light showing the shape of a dog.
This is really the idea that got all of this started. I had an idea that to make Toyman work as a full movie villain, it would have to be set in Clark's childhood, when he is just developing his superpowers, with Toyman being this looming, predatory threat menacing Clark and his friends, his true identity kept secret. This would allow Clark to learn to use his powers to figure out the villain's identity, but would also keep Toyman a constant threat despite the distinct power difference between him and his super nemesis.
What do you think? Would you watch a movie like this?

Though none of the Winslow siblings were particularly close, Adelaide knew her sister much more than she knew Albert. At this event, she found herself making excuses for him. Every interaction she had, someone had a positive word to say about him which somehow managed to rub salt in the wound. It seemed like her older brother preferred spending time with anyone besides his sisters, she was beginning to find out. Of course, he always promised them a dance and always followed through on that promise. It had stung in particular when Arthur had spoken so fondly of his twin sister. Caused the redhead to really start to think about the dynamics she wanted for her future family. "Perhaps someone who is not fond of him," she suggested, the same vitriol in her tone. The redhead decided to shift the conversation to something a little more productive than simple, idle chitchat. "I danced with a gentleman that I believe I could become rather attached." Arthur had mentioned that he knew Albert, that they were friends when they were boys. "What do you know of Arthur Barnes?"
as was his usual way of doing things, he had left both of his sisters' much to their own devices for the evening. of course, he had promised both a dance, but only if they so wished. it wasn't that albert didn't want to spend time with them, but rather that ( through entirely his own fault, though he was reluctant to admit it ) he felt he didn't particularly know them and thus, frankly, found it could be awkward at times.
a hearty laugh at adelaide's comment ; that was rather the point, after all. he shook his head, willing his smile to dissipate just a little, though relaxed as her demeanour changed. "it truly is. i have to say, i am genuinely impressed... and perhaps a little concerned." he frowned at the object again, head at an angle. "it is so good i am worried it was deliberately done by someone who knows him... i shouldn't like to be immortalised like that, even if it was accurate." shaking off the only half-joking thought, he offered adelaide a small smile. "have you had a good evening, so far?"

The Edens (will reblog as the last two (3?) books release)
Devney Perry is a goddess. The ease with which these relationships build and flourish is so natural. As a reader, you don’t even notice a shift or a pivotal moment when they blossom from one phase to the next. These organic relationships are magical.
Also, with the attention to food and coffee in this series, can I move to Quincy? Is there an opening for a girl and her husband to get in on this family for some free deliciousness?
Devney takes everything about writing, everything you might learn in an AP English class, and applies it so effortlessly you don’t even realize you’re getting played. And then it’s so well done you not only fell into it, but you enjoyed it. Ya sicko. Small Town Romance, Each book follows a sibling, Romantic suspense
Indigo Ridge Griffin and Winslow
Fun fact about me– my comfort show is Criminal Minds. I mean, who can resist? Anyway, I have a really hard time sleeping if the soothing sounds of serial murder are not playing in the background. So when this book started off with a badass female chief of police learning her new town has had 7 gruesome suicides in about 7 years, I knew this was going to be good. Winslow Covington is the new girl in a small town. I mean Andy Griffith, everyone knows everyone small town. Population me and you small town. Winslow is new, a young woman, the Mayor’s grand daughter, and the new chief of police. As you might imagine, people aren’t too keen to welcome her with open arms. Her Pops encouraged her to make friends with the Eden family, as they’re basically royalty. And our darling girl unknowingly has a one-night stand with Griffin, you guessed it, Eden. Meet Griffin Eden, grumpy, rugged ranch man who does not want commitment, or change. He’s a family man, loyal to his siblings and parents, but everyone else can go as far as he’s concerned. When Griffin and Winn agree that neither of them would have engaged in the one-night stand had they known who the other was, they were relatively at peace. That is, until a body of a young woman is found at the base of Indigo Ridge on Griffin’s property. Everyone is ready to call it a suicide, but Winslow Covington isn’t so sure. Ruffling feathers as she investigates, Winn wants to make sure that the case is truly closed. Winslow and Griffin are both very dynamic characters. Their relationship feels natural, both in progression and display. There isn’t any unnecessary drama for the sake of plot development. It’s clean and wonderful. The balance of romance and mystery was perfect, in my opinion. The only thing that even remotely felt rushed, in my opinion, was the epilogue. It was almost like Devney had so much she wanted to tell us about their relationship, and not enough pages. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Juniper Hill Knox and Memphis
Knox, the charming younger brother of our beloved Griffin wants two things in this world– peace and quiet. He is a successful restaurant owner and chef, with a mild reputation as a grump. Enter Memphis Ward– single mom, coming in to live in the loft above his garage so she can work at the Eloise Hotel on Main St. Memphis has one goal in mind– carve a good life for her son. Recently cut off from her access to essentially infinite money, Memphis has taken a job as a housekeeper at the Eden family hotel. Grumpy Knox does *not* like that he said yes to Eloise to allow Memphis to live in his spare loft. Memphis does not like that she feels like she’s intruding. Both of them do not like how attracted they are to each other. After some back and forth, they start to get a rhythm of civilness between them. They dance around this invisible line they’ve set. And my God they’re SO mature about it. Devney has my insta-buy approval. But this daycare? Absolutely malicious. You know that feeling when you’re reading and you just *know* something is a big deal? Yeah.
Then here’s another truth. I’m going to take them. I’m going to take all of your bests. Every damn one until you can’t keep track of the top five anymore because there are so many bests that you’ll need a hundred to capture them all.
Knox and Memphis are so so good for each other. They’re magic and stardust and just perfect. I know I keep talking about how organic these relationships are, but I promise I won’t shut up about them. And the DRAMA the ANGST ugh my heart. Heart meet roof. My apple watch told me regularly that mindful breathing could calm me down. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Garnet Flats Talia and Foster
Talia Eden, the super woman is shocked and appalled to see her ex show up at her work, nearly 7 years after he married her best friend and roommate. The audacity of this man to try to win her back? She wasn’t having it. Foster Madden, World Champion Fighter, boxer extraordinaire makes the big move from Vegas to Quincy to win back his girl. He wanted to apologize to her, to tell her everything, but Talia would have none of it. How could she?
So far, this was the least favorite of the Eden stories for me. I love Talia, but the whole deal with Foster was a little much. By the end I liked them, but it wasn’t until like, 60% through that I was on board with them. And I wish that Vivi wasn’t involved. Like at all. I wish I had more of them relearning each other than Talia being jealous of Vivi.It was still a good read, just not my favorite.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Again, full reviews of the next books will be reblogged for consistency :)

Why did Patience watch Marilyn while she slept ? And do you think Leo might have some genuine affection for his daughter or nah? ( ps chapter 12 was amazing)
First of all, thank you so much!!! ❤️ This ask made my day, and I apologize because the response is long and is probably too extra...😬
I think Patience watched her for several different reasons. Like Leo, to make sure she was still there and safe, and that whatever happened in Patience’s nightmare hadn’t come to fruition (like it once had in real life 😢). Another reason is just watching Marilyn, who looks so much like Leonardo, and having to push away the intrusive thoughts she had towards her daughter. I think Patience bordered on wanting to protect Marilyn from the world and wanting to protect the world and herself from Marilyn. Marilyn, who is such a sweetie, will never be able to understand why her mother couldn’t entirely separate her from her father. I hate to say it, but Marilyn wasn’t safe with her mom.
As for whether Leonardo has genuine affection for Marilyn...I’d say kind of? I think if you look at the church scene, a lot of his pride and affection for her comes from her being his perfect little girl who is “so much like him!” He sees a lot of himself in her and well, we all know how much he loves himself. So part of it comes from his own narcissism.
The other part of his affection comes from her fulfilling his weird fantasies and being everything he’s ever wanted in a child. Marilyn’s a girl (sorry Andy), she looks like him and his mother, is feminine, is a prize from his war with Patience, plays with dolls, has an emerging maternal instinct, obeys him (most of the time), and idolizes him. She is capable of showing genuine love, loyalty, and affection towards him. And he loves that she loves him.
The third part, so the genuine affection he has towards her personally, is that Marilyn is just a likable person (except to Sawyer, but he has no taste). She’s so pure and is the one thing that hasn’t been violently ripped away from Leonardo. I think he really does want to be a better father than Silvio, and not just because he doesn’t want her to whack him like he did to his father. That being said, up until this point, nothing he has done for her has been without selfish and manipulative intentions (not that she’d know). I think he has some genuine affection for her as a person, however, it’s very small compared to the other reasons listed above.
And because I’m extra af, there’s a pie chart underneath 😃!
Note: The genuine percentage is an estimate and should not be taken as a set number.

Professor Haywire is actually the Triumvirate's big arch villain, who sadly got shuffled off into a background detail in the modern day because he was too non-serious. One big reoccurring gimmick is that he summons monsters for the Triumvirate to fight (and for the comics to get around restrictions with violence against people). The Endbringers are technically his minions. Where LEGEND used his HEAT BEAMS to dry out the dreaded LEVIATHAN! And other such comic book tales. People really got shocked when the Endbringers made their return after such a long time, and they were treated like proper horror shows. Behemoth's head spikes sort of looking like a crown is because Haywire would use his head as a throne.
Mouse Protector was also a Silver Age hero, who got killed in the background to get rid of the clowns. Speaking of clowns, Chuckles was just one silly clown villain.
Coil was a forgettable Golden Age villain from way back who probably didn't even have powers, he was just a guy who wanted to take over the world. Dinah was a minor character who comes back sometimes as the designated PSA kid and Winslow was the designated Bad School they used repeatedly, one notable comic was a Very Special Episode teaching children about the importance of Saying No to Drugs, the villain in that comic was of course Coil. Other than that they had no relation. Coil had a supercomputer he called Oracle who could see the future, and it and Dinah got fused into one character.
All the nitty gritty details about powers, shards, cluster dynamics, Manton Effects, and all that good stuff was not a thing in either the Golden or Silver Ages. It was invented for this series.
Let's see here, Bitch did go by Hellhound, Marquis would've been set up as an overarching villain for the Guts and Glory comic series, Cauldron, Contessa, and the Entities was a plotline called Origins of Scion that was foreshadowed and hinted at that never went anywhere, and the details were reused in the reboot, with a darker and edgier twist.
Jack Slash and Bonesaw really were related and they played up the family road trip vibe with them. The Birdcage was a revolving door prison. Glaistig Uaine really was a faerie and was a Myrddin villain.
If canon Worm was a dark and edgy reboot a’la New 52 or Marvel Ultimates, what would the “mainline” wormverse be like?
Hmm-
Okay, I don’t actually read mainline cape comics, so this is from a butchered understanding of what they’re like from childhood cartoons and hollywood and internet osmosis
But, like,
-The main protagonists are obviously the actual heroes. New Wave and Miss Militia and Armsmaster and Dauntless and the Wards as a group, probably. Maybe with Shadow Stalker as the requisite distrusted vigilante heroine.
-The sheer number of supervillains in the city comes down to needing to give everyone a nemises and a bit of a rogues gallery, ofc. This is never really examined, and despite the sheer number of disposable henchmen and high-tech mercs and neo-nazis per capita and everything the Bay’s mostly portrayed as a pretty nice place, with most civilian life scenes being on the boardwalk or downtown, or in the very nice PRT bases
-Piggot’s a stern but genuinely well-meaning authority figure who mostly exists for the protagonists to go behind the back of when they need to break the rules and save the day
-‘The Empire’ aren’t explicitly nazis at all, just a general supervillain syndicate that happens to be led by a blonde german guy going by Kaiser with two valkyrie bodyguards
-The Undersiders (along with Uber and Leet, Chariot, the Travellers, possibly the Merchants) are the Wards designated foils, though they might all be independent villains or only sometimes working together. They are massively popular fan favorites, and never that evil, so they/Skitter in particular eventually get an incredibly successful series starring them and the whole Harley Quin vaguely-sauntering-towards-redemption treatment.
-Lisa’s actually psychic.
-The ABB and Coil are basically the exact same, just with no thought of the actual money-generating crime they do or drugging 12 year olds or fate-worse-than-death-bomb-terrorism or anything. But, like, just the concepts but pg-13 are perfect 4-color villains anyway.
-The Slaughterhouse 9 (need a different name) and the Endbringers are actually the rogues gallery for the Triumvirate series, and only brush against Brockton Bay as a crossover event or a cameo-filled backdrop for a fight scene in their books, in either case no consequences from it that last past the end of the issue.
-Dragon’s cover story of being an agoraphobe who interacts with the world through her mechs is just actually true.
-Cauldron isn’t a thing, sometimes having superpowers just makes you a weird monster.
-Scion is an incredibly generic superman clone no one can think of anything interesting to do with so he just kind of shows up in big events, the whole ‘spends 99% of his time flying in a random direction saving hikers from mudslides and getting cats out of trees’ thing starts as a fan joke about why he hasn’t solved the problem of the day on his own.
…yeah, that’s all I’ve got at the moment.

Questionable Content characters as best as I can remember em
For @rustingbridges even though they didn't ask
Marten - Original protagonist. Local hipster, music nerd, coffee drinker. His social and romantic sagas were the core of the story for several years. Works at the university library. Dating Claire.
Pintsize - Marten's wacky robot roommate. Loves gross stuff and inappropriate sexual comments despite being the size of a medium dog and made only of ovals and rectangles.
Faye - An outgoing, no-nonsense southern girl Marten met in a bar. Now his roommate. Became the secondary romantic lead as the series evolved. Had a will-they-won't-they dynamic with Marten, then dated Angus, now dating Bubbles. Used to work at Coffee of Doom, recently opened a repair shop for robots.
Dora - Owner of Coffee of Doom, a local hipster haunt. Proudly goth. Dated Marten for a while but now engaged to Tai.
Steve - Marten's best friend and longtime roommate. Less anxious than most of the rest of the cast. Moved out and was forgotten for several years; turns out he joined the CIA and worked as an international spy/hitman/man of mystery.
Natalya? Natasha? - Steve's hot Russian spy girlfriend who proves that all that spy stuff was real, you guys!
Sven - Dora's brother and local man-slut. Absurdly successful career writing awful country music. He and Faye were entangled briefly, which caused him to decide to be less slutty.
Marten's landlord - This guy showed up for like one strip, right?
Hannelore - Local manic blonde with severe OCD. Barista at Coffee of Doom. She's fabulously wealthy but lives in Marten's apartment building. Born in space, circumnavigated the world as exposure therapy to help her OCD. Able to infuse her love and support for her friends into the tea she brews.
Winslow - Hannelore's AI roommate. Anxious, sweet, looks like an iPod with arms and legs.
Hannelore's dad - Eccentric rich genius, and pioneer of AI tech. Lives on a space station with a crew of scientists (human and AI).
Station - The sentient space station AI. Has a crush on Hannelore, who he helped raise as a child. I guess it's similar to them being childhood friends?
Hannelore's mom - Corporate tycoon. Fabulously successful due to monetization of Hannelore's dad's work and her ruthless approach to business.
Penelope - Former barista at Coffee of Doom. Dating Will. Blonde, but not Pizza Girl.
Pizza Girl - Local food-themed superheroine. Blonde. Bears a striking resemblance to Penelope.
Will - Local fancy man, hipster, and bartender at [hipster bar with funny name]. Looks great in formal wear with a monocole. Dating Penelope.
Tai - Local librarian at the university library. Marten's boss. Proud lesbian. Once brought Marten to support her in impulsively getting her clit pierced. Engaged to Dora.
Emily - Local engineering(?) student. Wacky genius who often gets lost in her own world. Voted "most likely to either save the world or end it in the next decade" by the UN Security Council. Barista at Coffee of Doom.
Claire - Local undergrad in library science(?). Currently looking at grad schools. Trans. Family trait of bright red hair. Dating Marten.
Marten's mom - A dominatrix and former porn star. Dating Sam's dad.
Sam - Local rambunctious youth. Maybe 10-12? Runs a side hustle selling "sprays" (doodles in permanent marker) to AIs who visit Faye and Bubbles' store. This is their primary source of revenue and advertising.
Sam's Dad - ??? I don't remember shit about him.
Roko - Former cop AI turned nonprofit worker. Bread fetishist; major customer of The Secret Bakery. Do Not Speak Her Full Name.
Yay - Pan-gender pan-incarnate pan-galactic AI collective(?). A rogue AI with the skills to hack the world but the inclination to annoy people and pet cats. Non-binary icon. Roko's roommate.
Millefeuille - Roko's boss at the AI rights nonprofit. Lovably incompetent. Has a crush on Emily.
Bubbles - Retired military android. Shy, but deeply loyal. Big lady. Engaged to Faye and a partner in the repair shop.

Does the character of Steve Urkel from "Family Matters" still hold up well for you as the "geeky comic relief" character? I know there's been some lowkey critiques here and there that he took up too much of the spotlight in later seasons (and his "crush" on Laura + how it was resolved w/ his other girlfriend was fairly hit-or-miss for certain people too)
Yeah, I mentioned earlier that how Steve and Laura got together at the eleventh hour was kinda yikes, especially since he already had Myra, who got the short end of the stick for no good reason (and this is unrelated but her actress ended up dying not long after the show ended, so it's just tragic altogether.
I do think that the criticism of Steve getting more and more of the spotlight is kinda warranted. I had watched some early episodes of the show in 2018 and I really liked the dynamic the Winslows had with each other and Steve, but as his character became more and more prominent, the Family of Family Matters ironically didn't matter much at all. Then you had shit like Steve's alter ego Stephan Urquelle, who eventually became a separate person through some convoluted bullshit and it was just a mess. Family Matters was inching towards becoming a sci-fi comedy by the end, and if the rumors about the planned storylines for Season 10 are to be believed, I'm glad the show ended at Season 9.
Like, imagine if Will and Carlton weren's as charismatic on Fresh Prince and Jazz ended up being a breakout character. Fresh Prince would be a VERY different show, and not for the better, imo.
I guess I can end this with a fun fact. While Myra dated Steve on the show, her actress was actually dating Malcolm Jamal-Warner, who played Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show.

rest your soul and feed your brain
part 3: on AO3 here
~
The camera turns on, showing Winn- just Winn, for once. He’s staring at where the audience would be, with an expression in his eyes that could be considered haunted, or perhaps bewildered. His eyes are wide, certainly, and he’s leaning slightly over the desk, hands out in front of him, held in a sort of tented position. He seems to be waiting for someone, his lips pursed, and he stands and looks at someone slightly off to the side.
“James? Are you getting this?” he asks.
James nods, and focuses the camera on him closer, as Winn sits down again.
His voice is hushed, as he continues.
“Hey. Okay, so… I probably shouldn’t be doing this. If he finds out, he might kill me, and get James to take over for me- even though all the comments talk about how funny I am, or how much I do my research. Well, actually, they give me long lists of nitpicks and corrections on the subject of my research, and they say how funny it is when I scream, or make dirty jokes. Even though me screaming is completely normal for the kind of thing I’m doing here, and I actually don’t make that many dirty jokes. They’re not that dirty anyway. Whatever.
The point is… this is about… I’m investigating Brainy. My partner- not that way. Even though he is cute, and I am very bisexual. He’s like a young Keanu Reeves, in how he looks- it’s actually kind of freaky, looking at them side by side. But in a nice way. Anyhow, you already know what he looks like, because we’re friends, and we do this show every week for you guys.”
Winn pauses, looking up at James, expression cautious. He turns back to the camera.
“I might not actually release this. Or it could go up on our Patreon page, and I would just have to make sure he doesn’t see it, or put it under an unassuming title so he doesn’t suspect anything and doesn’t want to click on it. He already doesn’t check anything on our computer anyway, I’ve never seen him use it, but somehow he still knows all the statistics of our videos, so I feel like I could get away with that. Maybe something about sex tapes, it’s really funny the reaction that gets whenever I bring them up. Anyway. If I do release this, it’s going to be because I feel like you all should know something about Brainy. Something I want to say I’ve suspected all along, given how much I already liked researching this kind of stuff, but embarrassingly enough, I’ve only started putting the pieces together recently.
Wow, I’m delaying this a lot. I’m sorry- to the audience, and to myself. Maybe I’m not saying it because I don’t feel like I can? Like if I do say it, he’ll hear, and he’ll find me. I don’t think he would hurt me if he found out I was doing this. After all, we are friends. Or at least, I hope we still are. I don’t know. Maybe this is the last recording I’ll ever do, and he’ll find this, and he’ll leave. I… don’t want to lose him, as much of a know-it-all as he is. I’m the believer, I need my skeptic, you know? That’s just how things should be. It’s the natural dynamic, and without it, we’d lose viewers. I would lose viewers. So maybe I won’t put this up online. But if I do, and we keep going… assume he hasn’t found it, or that he’s okay with it.
Maybe I just don’t want to admit it out loud, because it’ll make me sound insane. Like I’m headed for a downward spiral, like my dad- except instead of taking my anger out on the partner who stole my patent, and ending up killing people who weren’t him instead, I’ll be the conspiracy theory guy who got too obsessed with what he was so interested in, and it’ll end up ruining my friendship with… with one of the only people who really knows me well, and gets me. Or at least I thought he did.
Do I hate Brainy, for hiding so much? Am I angry at him, because he keeps so many secrets? I don’t think so. I’m not. I’m just… well, can you blame me for being interested, and maybe a little bit suspicious? That’s the only name he’s ever given me, to tell me to call him. He started emailing me, after I put up the video asking for people to do that if they wanted to host this show with me, and almost too quickly- within the day, actually, once I’d made sure he wasn’t an axe-murderer or any other kind of murderer, like my dad, and that he genuinely wanted to do this with me and didn’t want to make fun of my videos, he was there for the interview. And then he was hired, after I said something about tomatoes being fruits, and he insisted on them being vegetables, and we argued about it for like an hour. Actually fun times, believe it or not.
He’s never told me where he lives, or where he grew up, or how old he is, other than I know that he’s around my age and his birthday is December 30th. I remember because it’s 5 days after mine, and I saw him circle it on the calendar once. I know he was homeschooled, but he never gave any details on that, and for how long he was homeschooled. He doesn’t have any siblings. His parents raised him together until he was eight years old, when they separated and his father raised him. He hasn’t said anything about what happened afterwards, or where his mother went, or anything else about his life- he changes the subject, asking about my family instead, and whenever he’s admitted these things to me he always looks at me like he’s being held at gunpoint while saying them, even though I honestly want to know because he’s just so goddamn mysterious. And you all know how much of a difficult subject my family is for me. But for his credit, he listens, and it’s kind of nice.
Oh god, I’m rambling. But I have a point with this, I promise.
I don’t doubt that Brainy is a good person. I don’t doubt that he likes me- or at least, doesn’t hate me. He hasn’t left me, which is a virtue all on its own, and he listens to me, with- it feels like he understands me, whenever I talk about my parents and describe how their abandonment felt. What it was like to see my dad arrested, to be interrogated about his murder and under constant scrutiny afterwards from my foster families because at any time I could snap and become just like him. How it felt to sit in the police station, waiting for my mother, but she never came back for me.
Maybe this is why I won’t release this video. I’ve only ever told him that, and I’ve tried not to tell anyone that my father is Winslow Schott, the notorious Toyman. I even use my nickname, Winn, and my mom’s maiden name, McGowan, for these videos… but I know I’m still a Schott, and that potential is inside me. Like a ticking time bomb.”
Winn sighs.
“I hope I’m not turning out like him. I want to think I’m using whatever I got from my father for good- though I can’t really tell whether or not this is a good use for the skills I do have. And maybe this, what happens if Brainy finds out, will be the nail in the coffin for me. What sets me down the path to becoming the Toyman, just like my dad.
I don’t want to.
But… if anyone from the future is listening, consider this the secret origin story of… something. The play that was never released, the first edition book that’s different from all the others, the action figure that was recalled for a defect, the hidden Easter egg in a video game or the comic that only ever got one printing or the unaired pilot of a TV show or a movie that never even made it to DVD. I think this metaphor ran away from me. Point is. If you’re seeing this, count yourself lucky, because you’re one of a few- if anyone other than James and I see this at all.”
Winn pauses again, turns to James.
“You’re not gonna leak this on Youtube, are you?”
“No.”
“Good man.” Winn says. “Thank you.”
He turns back to the camera, and continues talking, all the while also continuing to gesture with his hands, as though he were truly in a living, animated conversation with the audience.
“And keep in mind, I don’t say all of this stuff because I want his career to be ruined, or because I’m jealous of him, or anything. I just think he’s so… I’ve already used the words interesting, and suspicious, and mysterious, and cute. He’s all of those things, but he transcends description. He’s a walking enigma, and I wish I were worthy of knowing his secrets.
He’s my friend, and I can’t help noticing things like… well. He always wakes up earlier than I do. That’s probably because I always stay up late. But one time, I woke up first, and saw him get up out of bed. And he… I don’t know how to say this. He touched his face, and it- shifted? And I don’t think it was the light coming in from outside- I swear to you, his face looked blue. All of him did. He touched it again, and he looked like he always does otherwise, but I’ve never forgotten that. It might’ve been an early-morning dream kind of thing, like when you’re half asleep and half-awake. But it felt real.
And then there’s things like what I mentioned before- he always seems to know exactly what our statistics are, even though I’ve never seen him use our computer. Any kind of technical problem, he fixes it- without even moving, or touching it. Most of the time I don’t even have to ask him, he just knows. Knows everything. Comes in real handy, can’t say I’m not grateful, but also…
Oh! Also, one time, I caught him sitting on the roof of our trailer, and when I called his name, he jumped down- but it was slower, somehow, than normal jumping. Like he was kind of… not flying. But hovering, maybe. Or falling with style. But whatever it is, I couldn’t have done it. And I’ve tried to scare him, since then, and make him jump. Hasn’t worked, but I’m gonna keep trying, mark my words.”
“Marking them.” Calls James, and Winn rolls his eyes.
“Anyway. All of these things… and the fact that because he’s only introduced himself by his pretentious nickname, and never given me his real name- God knows I’ve tried to find it- I can’t look him up in any way and verify that he exists- I don’t know how to explain them. I want to- that’s the whole point of this show, solving the unsolvable, explaining the unexplainable, playfully arguing with each other along the way, sometimes scaring the shit out of each other but mostly just enjoying each other’s company. But the two first things are the most important, and how am I supposed to call myself a good solver of mysteries if I can’t come to a solid conclusion on the person who’s probably my best friend? Besides you, James.”
“Thank you.”
“And Kara and Alex, back home. But they’re not gonna see this. Probably. That doesn’t matter. Point is… the whole idea of this long, twisting rant… I have reason to believe that my collaborator, my partner, my friend, Brainy… isn’t human. And I don’t know what he is, exactly, or who he is, or where he’s from. He could be the Mothman. He could be what he calls a Necrofriggian. He could be any of the other cryptids I totally did my research on and didn’t just see while watching shows about them on TV, or reading Wikipedia entries. Or- and this is the most absurd one- he might even be from another planet. Is he an alien, or a cryptid? Or is he just a completely normal guy who’s fucking with me, and I’m the one who’s talking myself in circles over nothing? Whatever the case, it looks like the impenetrable identity of my cohost is, for now, a case that’s going to remain-“
“Winn? Why are you recording an episode without me? What’s this about?”
“Oh shi-“
“James, turn that off, please.”

I actually did find a sketch headshot.. thing.. of Bonesworths older design! This is before I added the whole... long bendy neck thing though so this ref is a little inaccurate... fur looks lighter simply so I could see the line/sketch 😭😭😭
Anyways more rambles under the cut :3
So funny thing, I actually didnt develop their relationships with the canon characters as I got too caught up in making their backstory as well as fleshing out their family/descendants- made an entire storyline where Bonesworths grandchildren literally. Try to debunk a bunch of theories around the murder and prove Bonesworths innocence decades after his death
Canon narrative! As stated they work at the hotel as a gardener/land scaper! This comes easy for them, as in their life he worked one of those self sufficient lifestyles. Planting his own stuff, having animals, ect ect ect. They arent.. exactly hopeful of Charlie's plan to redeem sinners but they dont shoot down her hopes- even partaking in exercises to show support
I feel like theyd get along with Husk, now that I think about it. They're both grandpas/j, winslow doesnt drink often so they dont talk often but when they do it can last for a while
I thought it would be funny if Bonesworth was powerful but did nothing with their power, they COULD be an overlord if they applied themselves. They just dont have the desire to exercise that sort of power and authority- which segways into!!
They have ties with alastor, at least they know of each other prior to the hotel. They're not... friends.. but they're not enemies- they stay in their own lanes, for now at least
Charlie and Bonesworth basically have a tired dad/grandpa and hyper grandchild dynamic, they go easy on her but theres still a level of professionalism when they interact, from Bonesworths side
While winslow relies on... traditional means to get work done, they still hear pentious out if he offers to make something for them. He is.. very quick to put his foot down if pentious begins to get carried away. Nervous wreck x cool headed dynamic pretty much
Not quite sure what their dynamic would be with vaggie, it would likely be mostly professional and they mostly talk about the hotel and how to make things work!
Nifty... doesnt need much explaining, winslow is a dude with concealed power and may or may not have a nasty temper should he ever lose his cool
UUUUUH who does that leave...
Angel!! I know it's a similar dynamic to his and husks but I think it would.. vaguely echo that. At least a blend of their dynamic before and after loser baby. Bonesworth doesnt snap at angel but there is.. a tenseness, but they can occasionally laugh together about something!
UHUH as for when they were alive! I mentioned they sustained themself! Keep flip flopping between woodland cabin and farm.. both sound reasonable
Still stern in life, but nevertheless patient and has a huuuuuge soft spot for his daughter- I forgot her name LMAO! But she does survive the whole.. "ex spouse attempting to end the entire bloodline" thing, she likely spends her life advocating (alongside winslows sister) for Winslows innocence which eventually bleeds into the next generation!!!!
Tldr for the whole murder thing; winslow gets gravely wounded and kind of ends up going ham on their attacker because they knew that if they succumbed in that moment their kid would join them
Crying at the fact that their daughter is going to go to heaven when she eventually passes
I want to say winslow was in his late 30s to early 40s when he passed, and his daughter was ~8 when he passed and in her ~70s when she herself passed away
Idk if you’re still down to listen about people’s canon x OC, but what about YOUR OC? Do you have one (I think you said they were a gardener)? For Hazbin Hotel, that is
"Do you have one"
Oh you sweet summer child... I have LOADS! Though i just have the 1 hazbin oc! I never drew them, though.. sad stuff..
Oc ramble under the cut
Funnily enough, a lot of the oc x canon ocs I make, the oc tends to develop such a huge unique stand alone story in the universe that there isnt much.. shipping stuff. Funny how that works out! Not that I'm complaining, I love my ocs sm!
But onto the actual HH oc! Winslow Bonesworth! Bonesworth uses he/they/it pronouns! They work as a gardener at the hotel, and originally they were shipped with pentious buuuuuut as mentioned above he kind of.. became his own thing!
Appearance wise, hes tall! Body is primarily covered with this weird black shadow like fur. Fur does not lighten in sunlight or other lighting, it remains pitch black even though Bonesworth clothing and skull look how you'd expect when standing in light. Their skull! They have a goat skull for a head! Admittedly their design is loosely based off of Remor from Fran Bow because that game has me in a CHOKE HOLD. Their skull has a crack branching from one of their eye sockets, I think it was the right? Legs are kind of build weird, think cat legs. They have a tail, too! No beans, though :(...
They have an exaggerated windows peak hairline. Poor thing has a receding hairline.. RIP.. very long neck, can crack and contort and stretch as needed. Though Bonesworth currently in present timeline in regards to the show has a knot of sorts that forces them to keep their neck kind of.. folded and resting. You know how ducks and geese can lower their heads and bend their necks? It's like that! Very tall, at least 7 feet tall with their folded neck
Exposed bones; you can see their ribs and spine as well as their hand/finger bones. Bones in the hand kind of protrude out and rest on the top of their hand, they fade back into their body starting at the wrist. Their spine is the same, fading back out of sight around their mid back. No function for this, just aesthetics
Personality they're just a tired old man, they can fight if they need to but they're just. Stern but respectful.. hes a sinner! Died after being murdered by their ex partner after a nasty divorce, they came back and tried to end the entire family. Those in the living world believe winslow was the attacker, but that's a whole storyline in the end. Reasoning for Winslow being sent to hell is because they ended up killing their attacker + they had a history of theft. They were going to die anyway because this motherfucker got rabies (murdered before they started showing, though)
They died in the ~1950s iirc

How I would Have Done the DC Storyline in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’...
Serena did float around wanting June transferred to another district, and in the events of 2x13 and 3x01, transferring June to another district would be an sure way to make sure she is out of reach from her daughter and as an result of her continual defiance under Aunt Lydia.
She’d be taken to DC where guidelines are slightly more rigid (I’d have just the veils, as that would have been enough to convey the message) and she’d be in DC’s Red Center until an Commander (other then High Commander Winslow, obviously) selects her. Where June would find herself thrust into the political going ons in DC, initially with her new Commander trying to see if she has any dirt on Waterford to give him via conversation (because, you shouldn’t put it past an DC Commander to want dirt in order to obtain blackmail material should said Commander fall out of line; showing that it wasn’t just Pryce trying to get dirt).
As to why I wouldn’t have placed June with the Winslows, s2 established what we’ve already known in the books about teens being wedded off (with Agnes almost married off to an fifty or sixty-some Commander Judd in The Testaments when she was just thirteen). So, I’d have her in an household where the Commander’s Wife is an girl in her late teens, as an dynamic between an teenage Commander’s Wife and an thirty-five year old Handmaid would have been interesting. Also showing that in DC, households where the Wives are fruitful can acquire Handmaids in order to get large families (i.e: Leah was able to conceive yet she gave Jacob her handmaid; the Red Center is called the Rachel and Leah Center after all).
(Regarding the Nichole storyline, the Waterfords would go to DC to film their ‘plea’ before appearing in those range of propaganda shots, and instead of June coming with them, she’d already be conveniently there in order to show the entire household).
But that’s how I would have explored the DC storyline, as I’m sure any one else has an better idea.
#lydia talks#my ramblings#the handmaid's tale#that's just how i would have explored it#anyone probably has something better
