Anyone remember this? So I'm finally hitting the end of the series it's inspired by/based off the Alelier Dusk trilogy of games, which is why Im nicknaming it Duskverse

So the basic storyline is that over time, magic has been slowly dying out as AUs are swallowed up by the Void (in place of the Dusk Sea) and vanishing. The exact cause is not widely known, some even think the infamous Destroyer is behind the slow end of everything.

The story starts when everything has faded enough that Ink's paints are no longer helping and he goes into a permanently blank, comatose state, prompting Dream to start truly investigating the situation

Dream (outfit and this AU version inspired by Shallistera Argo) (btw all the characters in Dusk are female unless otherwise stated.)

Needing assistance, Dream reaches out to her sister. Long before the story started, Dream used alchemy to split Nightmare into two halves (taking inspiration from the Atelier Mysterious series, will explain more if asked.)

Curious to know: when working on Duskie's lore, did anything ever change for him, like. Did you ever have one idea for him at one point, and then decide later to change it?

I just think it's interesting when a character's lore changes over time, especially as someone who has changed lore for their own OCs quite a few times.

off the top of my head: he wasnt originally plural/intended to be. he was just oersted w/ magical recurring amnesia. then sometime after becoming/awakening to being plural i thought: medianskie.

and now duskie is plural and its funny haha

he was also a bit of a coward i think? or at least more cowardly and less childish than he is now. i have no idea where the rock eating came from but it wasnt originally part of him i think

How canon-divergent vs. canon-compliant are you?

ghostbur/wilbur: there was never a soul split. never alivebur in limbo. I got revived, not sent to that train track hell all alone seeing my name on kinlists like canonical ghostbur did. rip. also I think we killed dream in that timeline. also I was in the end once??? someone gave me a chorus fruit??? it tastes like water.

sig: i was a puyo quest blue/red sig! had a red patch like my demon arm on the general area of my red eye n wore a cape n stuff. I have some old shitty art of that btw.

duskie: compared to lal canon? I'm literally spgdv duskie, maybe catskie. which. well it STARTS off as live a live at first, and then pre-duskverse knight commits internal mitosis and becomes Cringe (endogenic) and that's where Odio came from, yet Knight also was Like That. then the whole part with me (Duskie) in it starts post-finale and. yeah the heroes met up again. honestly just ask me to infodump about spgdv n duskie in your inbox or on my fandom blog I love the skie.

unfortunately i know nothing of how the duskverse blorbos would fight. i also don't really have that much info on duskverse odio so... uh...

i guess whoever lands a hit first. whenever there's a mirror match (or similar fight where the two fighters are evenly matched) i just go "welp. whoever hits the other first wins." like that melee 20xx copypasta about tournament games being decided by the rock-paper-scissors game used for who gets to be p1. it'd literally be decided by port priority without any outside interference.

Yet another AU/verse idea lol

Dream took a deep breath. She had to do this. With how everything was collapsing in on itself, Ink's paints were working less and less. It wouldn't be long before they lost the Creator for good at this rate, and the multiverse not long after.

She and Error were one of the few people that could make a working portal anymore, and hers were working less and less as time went on. Still, she could do this. She knew where to go, she just needed to make the portal.

Dream stepped through the portal into the AU "Nightmare" had called home for the last few centuries. It was largely empty and barren, now that her lackeys had died of old age. Dream wondered how supplies got here now that there was no one that could leave, but that wasn't why she was here.

She walked straight up to the castle and went inside. No one was there to stop her anymore.

"Nightmare" could always be found in the same place, the library.

Stepping inside confirmed that both halves were in fact, inside the library reading, although what they were reading she didn't bother to check.

"And what do we owe the pleasure of a visit from our dear sister?" The "calmer" half, Passive, asked, voice sarcastic and cold.

"I'm here to ask you to work with me on something. It's-"

"And why would we ever cooperate with you on anything?"

"Because the entire multiverse is in danger! Like it or not, it effects you and your supply of negativity if everything around you withers away and dies!"

They both looked at Dream in sync. "What is going on? And why do you think we can help, when you made us like this?"

"I was going to offer to merge you back together, in exchange for your help..."

Corrupted actually laughed at that. "And what makes you think we won't turn on you, once we're back at full power?"

He stared them down. "I split you apart once already. I can do it again if I have to."

"Fair enough. Tell me, why do you need our help? We'll see whether or not it's actually worth our time."

so it's called duskverse and basically Sundown post-game finds an amnesiac Oersted just in the fucking wild west. obviously Sundown can't just fucking leave him there so he takes Oersted with him, Oersted becomes a cowboy (with Sundown's old gun and all) and gets the title 'Duskfall Kid' because of hanging around with Sundown all the damn time. this earns him the nickname Duskie somehow and also adoption happens along the way ig.

duskie fuckin. he eats sand and bugs and rocks and has trauma and Sundown just doesn't know how to fucking deal with it so he just looks and watches as his son eats an entire fuckin g deck of playing cards.

it's also a whole new timeline technically but it's not like Sundown fucking knows that unless he ends up in Lucretia again with Knight!Oersted telling him that no, he doesn't know why Duskie has such a fucking varied diet.

Knight!Oersted meanwhile, is living a happy life as king as thanks to his memories from the previous timeline and Straybow being entirely different for some reason, he prevented all that bad shit from happening to him again. also he remembers what Duskie does its complicated ok.

so yeah. duskverse.

Sundad did not sign up for this, but he now has to deal with it regardless. All those years of avoiding people has lead to the universe deciding he needs company, and the only way to force him to do that is to make him a Dad.
