DOOM fanfic Part 1

At the ARC facility in Mars, the UAC soldiers have arrived outside of the facility. As the soldiers were about to head inside, when suddenly, they were ambush by the demons, but they have fought back as much as they can handle. The half of the troops head to the upper levels, while others stay behind to buy them some time.

After a long fight against the demons, the soldiers have manage to survive the fight, luckily no one was killed as they continue to their search.

While up at the main floor, the UAC soldiers have arrived to the office which is formly belongs to Dr. Samuel Hayden. As they began to search, suddenly, one of them heard a panic like noise, it was coming from underneath the desk. One of the soldier looked underneath, it was the child they've been looking for, she is scared and paralyzed in fear, but also holding a disc for some reason. The soldier offers the child a hand to help out get up, and tells her, "It's alright, we're here to help."

After hearing what the soldier said, the child immediatly cries, and hugs the soldier tightly. The UAC soldiers were about to head out with the child, There was a loud roaring sound coming from the first floor of the facility. And the troops were right, it was a massive demon called the Baron of Hell, who already killed their half of the soldiers. One of the Soldiers fought the Baron of Hell, while the others manage to run into the portal with the child.

As they arrived, there was the Chairman waited for their return, including the medical assistance as well.

2 days went by, the child fell asleep with the disc wrapped around in her arms, but what she didn't know she was being watched by the Chairman and Elizabeth McNeil.

The Chairman said to himself, "She is safe for now, but they're still unanswered questions about her..."

Elizabeth asked the Chairman, "Maybe it's something to do with that disc?"

Chairman answered her, "You might be right, see if the child could give you the disc. I have to deal with the General right now..."

After the Chairman left the room, that leaves Elizabeth along with the child. Finally the child is awake from her slumber, but then suddenly, Elizabeth walked into the room, and introduce herself, "Hello, your name is Daisy, am I right?"

the child nodded, knowing she cannot speak. Elizabeth asked Daisy, "My name is Elizabeth McNeil, I'm an intern. I know it sounds too soon, but is it alright if we can see the disc, that you're holding?"

Daisy looked at the disc, and then looks up at Elizabeth, So the child decided to give her the disc. but then she starts to sign language.

Elizabeth looked concern when Daisy told her. Elizabeth said to Daisy, "Don't worry, I'll see what I can find about Dr.Hayden. But for now, you should lie down for a bit, I promise I'll be back soon."

After Elizabeth left the room, Daisy is now alone, she lied herself down and looked at the ceiling. Wondering what will the others going to do with her. Will they going to study her the way Dr.Hayden did? Or are they different? Daisy kept thinking over and over with the same questions, but then she took a deep breath and trying to relax.

At the meeting room, The Chairman have finish discussing with his General. Elizabeth arrived with the disc on her hand.

The Chairman noticed Elizabeth gotten the disc from the child, "You have it, I see."

Elizabeth answered, "She told me that it's about her and Dr. Hayden. Shall we play it?"

The Chairman close and locked the windows and doors, so that nobody interferes of what's going to happen. After that, the Chairman nodded, "We're ready."

Elizabeth plays the disc with their projector, and shows the video on the screen.

[Dr. Hayden's Log Entry. Dec. 10, 2146. Day 1,

After recieving the casket of the warroir called the Doom Slayer. We cannot manage to open it. However, We have also recieved a Sentinel armor that does not belong to earth. We will continue our research soon enough.]

[Dr.Haryden's Log Entry. Dec 12, 2146. Day 3,

The Slayer's Armor's height is 6'8, weighs 300 lbs. Not only the scientists only examine the suit, They have also found inside one of them, a foot of an animal, the rabbit. I could use it to experiment with it. But for now, we have manage to open the sarcophagus. The Slayer's awakening will be unknown.]

[Dr.Hayden's Log Entry. Dec 15, 2146. Day 6,

We have been experimenting each hair of the rabbit's foot, there are many failed experiments. Perhaps some Argent Energy, and some human blood from the Slayer should be useful.]

[Dr.Hayden's Log Entry. Dec 26, 2146. Day 11,

After a long failed experiments, we have finally to create life, a human child. Experiment 2024. Age; 8 to 10 years old, Gender; female, Height; 54"5 inches. Hair color is orange-brown mix, eye color is hazel. Exp. 2024 has awakend from her slumber, her half of her behavior is like any ordinary children, however, the other half is like a rabbit as well. Her diet is a herbivore, and speed is normal, but her heart rate is different from a human heart. I'll be continuing her research later.]

[Dr.Hayden's Log Entry. Dec 30, 2146. Day 15. The Invasion of Demons has now starting, This will be my last recording before time will tell. To my last study of Exp. 2024, she will be volunteering to give her half of argent energy. She could be the key to awake the Slayer. And the argent energy will be powerful to help us keep researching in the future. Once the Slayer's awakens, He'll begin to kill our enimies, and hope he can work with us with our future research.]

After the disc is finished, the Chairmen and Elizabeth looked at each other with the concerned look on their faces, Elizabeth asked herself, "So Dr. Hayden created Daisy, to gain Argent Energy from her?"

The Chairman replied, "We do not know for sure, but I do know one thing. Is that we should never let others know about the child."

Elizabeth nodded, "Yes sir."

Jenna Geyer regretted her marriage.

She regretted getting married so young to someone with anger issues and had to constantly leave for work. But Jenna never regretted having her daughter, Lia.

She was the only light in the woman's life.

Lia couldn't think of any positive memories that had to do with her biological father. All she remembered was her parents constantly arguing and yelling at each other, one in awhile she could even hear glass shattering on the hardwood floor as she cowered in her closet, squeezing her stuffed teddy bear tightly as she sobbed. Those were memories that would still haunt her as she got older, her first memories.

Jenna finally divorced Lia's biological father when the little girl was five years old. Instead of moving, Jenna kicked him out and the two stayed in their house. Lia never saw her father after, not that she really cared. She hated the man for always upsetting her Mom.

When she was eight years old, Lia's mother married her step-father Dr. Samuel Geyer. He had known her mother for over a year before she got divorced, Jenna was a forensic scientist who worked with Samuel quite a few times on cases with the police.

The man quickly filled in the 'Dad' role that had always been absent in her life. Samuel and Lia shared their love for lacrosse and superhero movies/comics, much to Jenna's amusement.

During these times, Lia was always grateful for her best friend Mason Hewitt. The two grew up a block from each other; they knew each other since they were in diapers because Mason's parents were childhood friends of Jenna. He anchored her, kept her calm even when she was filled with so much anger.

It wasn't until the sixth grade when her parents and the school realized that her anger issues weren't normal. This was the year where she saw her biological father again for the first time since she was five, he was attempting to try and get into her life again. Lia was very upset, she already had a Dad who did more for her in the few years she had him so far and a father compared to what he did for her in her entire life.

One day a group of eight graders were messing with Mason, making fun of him because of his sexuality. The kids at their the prep school weren't as accepting as other schools. Mason was used to it and told Lia to ignore them as they tried to go to their next class. It wasn't until they called him a homophobic slur that Lia didn't hesitate to defend her best friend and fight the older boys.

A student named Hayden Romero, another sixth grader, accidentally walked into the middle of it and got a punch that was made for the eight grader which resulted in her getting a broken nose. In return, she punched Lia in the face too, resulting in harsh bruising. That was the day that her frenemy Hayden declared she hated Lia and did everything she could just to spite her.

Mason's parents had him transfer the next school year to Beacon Hills Middle School to get him away from the teasing. Their middle school and high school were extremely accepting of all different types of people. Kids in that school district, such as a well-known jock named Jackson Whittemore, were willing to fight anyone else if they tried to bully any kid for their sexuality. It was a great place for Mason to feel like he belonged.

Lia was happy for her best friend after hearing how amazing that school district was. Mason became the president of their GSA club. Lia was now lonely at school, the only friend she had was a girl named Savannah. Her former friend Brett turned on her out of nowhere in the middle of the seventh grade and started doing everything he could to upset her.

Lacrosse seemed to be the only time where the other kids didn't try and mess with her or seclude her. They respected her in that particular sport because of her amazing skills that won them many championships. But, of course, the coach who was also their teacher had some sort of vendetta against Lia.

He often picked on the girl for her difficulties in controlling her anger and not performing well in school. Lia was able to handle it because it wasn't hurting anyone else.

But then the coach made the mistake of picking on her only friend Savannah for her GAD and ADHD. This is when Lia's anger blew out of control. The now ninth grader destroyed her coach's car, getting her expelled immediately. She was then diagnosed officially with IED, Intermittent Explosive Disorder.

Lia felt like a failure, like a mistake to her family. Her parents were super smart and calm while she was just as angry as her biological father.

Her parents were grateful when Beacon Hills High School allowed her to transfer there without judging her for what she had done. Mason was overwhelmed with excitement that his best friend was joining his school. She was even able to make new friends like freshman couple Garrett and Violet.

Everything felt like it was going great until she got the attention of the two famous juniors Stiles Stilinski and Scott McCall.

So! A new Doom game got announced!

Here's the trailer for those interested, it will help with what I'm about to go into:

As a bit of a Retro Throwback Shooter Shitter myself, I have some Thoughts. Read on if you're interested.

So, first of all I like the premise of exploring the time the Doom Slayer spent fighting demons alongside the warriors of Argent D'Nur. It's a time period that was purposefully left pretty damn vague in Doom Eternal, and the Slayer's lore before waking up again wasn't even really talked about much - if at all - in Doom 2016 from what I remember, since they were trying to play it a little safe due to Doom 2016 being a soft reboot of a series that hadn't gotten a new game in 12 years at that point, with the last title (Doom 3 and its various editions that attempted to improve it a bit) being a pretty big departure that had a wealth of issues, such as it being a Doom game with one of the worst shotguns ever put into a shooter. So it's a cool idea to explore this time frame of the Doom Slayer's history, and possibly show the events leading to the Slayer's imprisonment in Hell before he was rediscovered and subsequently awoken by Samuel Hayden in Doom 2016, including the Makyrs' fall from grace.

Second, I'm actually kinda hyped to see id Software still working on making retro throwback shooters. I was worried they'd get shuttered and their IP sold off after Rage was such a flop back in 2011, and they didn't make anything after it for 5 years until Doom 2016 came out, so it's nice to see they've found their groove again - making some of the best examples of the retro throwback shooter subgenre. Doom 2016 started the BoomShoot Renaissance, and Doom Eternal is still one of the best examples of the genre, mechanically. They are masterclasses in using an old formula while keeping the level design and visuals fresh with modern game design principles that have improved a lot since the 90s, along with new game mechanics to keep the moment-to-moment gameplay feeling fresh as well (such as the weapon / stat upgrade systems, the movement abilities you get in Doom Eternal, etc.). Seeing them pushing that even further is a treat to behold, and I'm confident it's going to be a pretty damn fun game, as long as it doesn't get forced into being $70.

Final point, though, is a bit of a downer for me personally. Why in the fuck are they making a game in the Doom series that's going for a more medieval-ish feel, when the Quake franchise is right fucking there and begging for a better modern entry than goddamn Quake Champions?? Seriously, making a Quake game calling back to the first game in the franchise - with the Lovecraftian inspirations, the more medieval-ish setting, the unique monsters like the Shambler you didn't see much of past Quake 1 - would be a fucking money printer. But no, Microsoft wants them to play it safe so they can get a guaranteed blockbuster because Quake Champions hasn't done very well since it came out of early access in 2022, which is definitely a fault of the Quake franchise not having any consumer interest and 100% for sure not because Quake Champions pivoted into being a fucking hero shooter trying to emulate the feel of old arena shooter deathmatching!! It's not like a soft reboot wouldn't be sorely needed after the goddamn disaster of a story that was the Quake 4 campaign! It's not like a modern Quake game that actually relies on having a fun weapon sandbox instead of relying on taking your opponents off guard with fucking superpowers on cooldowns is something the fanbase they're trying to pander to would nut in our fucking pants over or anything!!!!

TL;DR: This game looks really good and fun, and I like to see id is still making banger games, but I'm actually kinda angry that they'd rather make a Doom game with medieval vibes rather than using that other fantastic retro shooter IP they own to make something that kind of vibe would actually fit into better.
