I actually originally designed Irie’s true identity as that of a ruthless, final boss-like demon of a man. I envisioned a scene where he pulls out Satoshi’s brain encased in formalin in front of Satoko and says “Look, you finally meet again...” However, the setting was changed and he became a missionary of maids. I was aiming for a disconnect where the maid man becomes the cruel final boss. When Irie was set up as the final boss, Takano was planned to be in what is now Nomura’s position. However, when Irie told Satoko about having Satoshi’s brain encased in formalin, BT-san got angry and said, “Irie’s such a kind person, but that’s too horrible!” So we made various changes, and Takano-san was promoted to the final boss. As a result, she gave such a wondrous performance.

I’m of two minds to this news...

1. We could’ve gotten evil mad scientist Dr. Irie!?! Dammit, I have always wanted to see that done somewhere, as Irie’s already one of the prime antagonistic forces in the story given all that the Irie Clinic is concealing (with he himself just an unwitting pawn in some bigger, behind-the-scenes government/military conspiracy games) and he’s got just as much potential for villainy as Takano, Okonogi, and even Ooishi. The idea that he was initially concieved as a Colonel Muska type character whose pleasant, patient and kindly persona would be a ruse for a vile, ruthless “demon of a man” only makes the concept sound cooler to me - like a literal case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, which would embody all the thematic ideas behind Hinamizawa Syndrome.

2. Based on BT’s objection, it sounds like it wasn’t thought through very well by Ryukishi07 and came off like cheap shock value horror for its own sake, with Irie’s true inner evil being so outlandish and cartoonishly over-the-top malicious and mean-spirited that it made Irie feel like a bad Surprise Villain and a lesser character for it. The whole idea of him having Satoshi’s brain encased in formalin...why? To what end? Plus, his pedo tendencies are offputting as is, and this would’ve taken them to the most generic and expected conclusion - he’s just a predator and does sick experiments on all the children he befriends, treats, and coaches. Ultimately, Takano makes a much better direct mastermind/Big Bad/final boss than Irie would’ve.

So with that said, there are three ways to make Evil Dr. Irie work:

- Switch Takano and Irie’s intended roles. Takano plays the role she ended up playing, but the vague and engimatic Nomura is replaced by Dr. Irie as the true mastermind who sponsors Takano’s atrocities.

- Have Dr. Irie as a willing co-conspirator with Takano, the brains to Okonogi’s brawn. He’s not keen on the idea of having to harm any of the kids, but he fiercely believes he’s doing what’s right for mankind. Unlike the above and below, this Irie would still be redeemable.

- Do one of many side-story loops that has Irie succumbing to Hinamizawa Syndrome and hijacking the conspiracy from Takano.

iris: really truly loves her children. such a loving mother. keeps in touch with her kids through iris message. everytime an iris kid sees a rainbow, it's like a little 'i love you' from mom

hypnos: always sending you the sweetest of dreams. visits you as a small bird, just to keep an eye on you. has a lot of free time, so he's pretty attentive when he's not sleeping.

nemesis: has a 'tough love' approach with her children. believes that 'coddling' your kids makes them weak. honestly, one of the crueler parents a demigod could have.

nike: more of a distant parent than the rest. you're lucky if you even get claimed. wants her children to be the very best. she is watching during the important moments, though! like when you win capture the flag for the first time :)

hebe: she has a lot of mercy for her children, often excusing their poor actions. to her children, she is the most beautiful goddess, even though you dont see her often, she will always be your confidant.

tyche: most children of tyche have a skewed version of their mother. tyche isn't super involved, but when she is she always leaves a good impression on her kids.

hecate: loves all of her children equally, even if they've done wrong in their life. is very protective of her children and wants to ensure they're all treated with respect especially before cabin 20 was built. she is very illusive with the messages she sends to her kids, but they can somehow decode her messages.

Iris and Animal HRT Part 2

EDIT: Part 1 is Ashe's comic linked below. Sorry for any confusion. I wrote this as a sequel to that comic.

The doc closes the door, his last patient having left again. He looks discouraged as he had to sign off on a bunch more "crossroads" patients. He is tired, and as he closes the door he lets out a long sigh.

"You know… I have a door for a reason." He says before turning around.

A clear distress in his voice. He looks over to the back of the room. There he sees the witch, hat as big ever and looking through her notes. Her name is Iris.

Iris previously visited Dr. Erian in regards to her notes. Warning the doc to not tamper with the spells used for animal HRT.

Iris continues to read the notes. Not looking up at the doc or even giving any form of acknowledgement.

The doc speaks up again, saying "So what, here to threaten me again?"

Iris barely looks up at Dr. Erian. Her expression unchanging. And answers "No."

The calmness in her voice sending chills down the doc's spine. But the lack of acknowledgement and clarity get to the doc. He starts to get angry and shouts at Iris.

"Your friends… They are losing years of their life to your spells! I know as a medical professional you need me to distribute them. But I also have to follow procedure! And you keep threatening me if I don't sign off on this for them!"

The anger rising in his voice as he continues

"Do you even care about the harm this is causing to them!? How many years are being taken away from them? Do you even-"

"OF COURSE I DO!" Iris interrupts. Shouting furiously back at him and scaring the doc into silence.

"How do you think you found my notes in the first place, Doc? I needed you for this. I knew the risks of introducing this system." Iris proceeds to calm down, taking a deep breath as she continues.

"In the case of some of my friends, it literally saved their lives." As she thinks of Sophie's conditions that led to her taking mouse HRT. "And this isn't without hardship. I know it is hard for them. I know it means potentially losing them…" Considering Eris and Sabine's directions.

Iris begins to choke up a bit.

"…But you should have seen how it was before. They weren't happy. They came to us at wits end not feeling like they were where they wanted."

Iris closes the book slamming it on the table next to her.

"They wanted me to do a transformation spell on them. But I couldn't. My transformation spells are superficial at best. Mind stays the same, and is no different from putting on a suit. It doesn't fix the problem. So, I wrote the formula for the tablets."

She looks at the notebook with a sadness on her face.

"But the city deemed that that was a magic induced medicine, so I needed a licensed doctor to distribute them. So left the notes here. With THAT supply of charged crystals."

Iris points to a storage crate filled with glowing gemstones and crystals illuminating a corner of the room, but slightly faded. And losing their charge, slowly.

Iris speaks up again.

"I know it isn't a perfect solution. I know they still suffer so much with trying to adjust, and with JERKS that feel they can look down on them for this choice." As she slams her fist on top of the book. An injury previously unnoticed on her hand. Bruised knuckles, looking like she had punched someone or something on the way over.

A deep breath again as she collects herself and calmly states

"But you should see when they leave this office. Some of them the very idea has them smiling for the first time in a while. First time I've seen a genuine smile from them in a long time.

And besides…"

She begins to visibly calm down as she reassures herself.

"…most stop before the point of cutting down their life. And even the ones that go the full way, the tablets are designed so that as long as they keep up taking care of themselves, once the changes are far enough their health will be peak for the species they've chosen. While there are complications in the transformation process, even if they go all the way and end up with a shorter life span, they'll be able to live that remaining life to the fullest."

Dr. Erian begins to show concern, but has calmed down. Hearing the witch out this whole time, and taking her words to heart.

"So why then are you here now? I haven't experimented with the quick versions, and haven't gone against your notes."

"Though I do wish people would stop breaking into my office" He grumbles under his breath.

Iris points back to the crystals required to charge her spells.

"Those crystals are losing charge. I'm here to help resupply. You're going to need it."

Iris begins walking over to the crystals.

"And hey, let's keep this chat between us. I don't want to jeopardize the progress My friends have been making towards their happiness. You understand?" Dr. Erian nods, a little nervously.

Iris holds her book and holds out her hand in front of her. Magic then spreading from her fingers into the crystals below. The crystals react by bursting with light once again.

This is my first piece of writing and it was based on all the Animal HRT. I was seeing others comics on it, but all I can do is write and Ashe said she was stuck on how to continue. This was fun to write as a sequel to Ashe's comic involving Iris. (@iristhedarkwitch comic by @darkmagenugget)

Outside of this, I am probably going to do more transformation, cyberpunk, and fantasy stories. But just wanted to test write something. Feedback is appreciated. Glad to exist. ^-^

SCP 166 yap that 8 people wanted

Meridiana (or Meri, for short) Is naturally shy and kind of awkward, as she grew up in a literal nunnery. She likes to draw and paint and does so often. Her religion is a massive source of comfort to her, and she might spend a hour praying every day. Meri’s ability to degrade man made objects can be controlled by a collar similar to one reality benders might wear, and she can control what plants grow where. 

In interacting with other humanoid scps, she is kind, if a bit timid. TJs (590) unofficial babysitter and Iris’s (105) best friend. (Iris has a crush on her, but she is oblivious) Between her abilities to grow plants and her biblical knowledge and faith, she is the only one who can mediate Able and Cain in the unfortunate incident that they interact. She pities Able, and is friends with Cain, after she got over her initial fear of meeting who she believes to be the first murderer. Cain thinks that she could reverse his curse, but will not ask her to do so, as if she could that would prove she’s more powerful than a curse put by God.

Meri doesn’t blame her father for killing her mother. When she was 17 she got nightmares of a dark figure detailing her ability to end the world in service of the Scarlet King. They eventually stopped after Meri decided to confront the figure. This was the only time ever she told anyone to ‘go to hell’ She was able to connect the dots with the letter she got, and refuses to tell anyone about her dreams. After this incident, Meridiana started working to control her abilities more, to prevent doing anything she would regret. 

Meridiana adores her father unconditionally, and Clef adores her right back. The 05s approved an hour and a half of interaction every day, and junior staffers know that if you want an experiment approved, go to Clef right after that time. Meri and TJ have been branded ‘nepo babies’ by other anomalies, but she doesn’t mind.
