Zero, this is what is called a direct violation of "The Bro Code".

Ok HC

Zero and Iris never dated in the mainline games, which isn't actually a HC. If you read her bio in the X4 Gallery in the Legacy Collection, she and Zero aren't an item. In fact, she doesn't even catch feelings for him UNTIL the inciting incident of X4. And if we go by the X4 Manga they never even MET before the events of X4.

My HC is that Zero caught feelings for Iris first while she was training as a Navigator. But she only considered him a good friend and she was a very professional navigator.

Little did she know Zero was ditching his best friend for her since there was limited time to spend with her. Which X doesn't bring up or make Zero apologize for but he DOES complain to Dr. Cain about sometimes so he's not fully bottling it up.

But X holds no ill will to Iris for stealing his Best friend. Maybe a little petty beef, but that's just... Well... Human. And X is very human.

But golly gosh... Ain't it tragic. When Zero realizes that Iris reciprocates his feelings, it's when his own romantic infatuation has cooled down (not gone just cooled), and she's dying in his arms.
