Because I chicken out and never actually send my GL characters to anyone unless I know they're familiar with the source material, would you like this post if you're chill with interacting with them in their RWBY-verses?

Lack of sunlight seems to be linked to poor health, but is Vitamin D the only explanation for this? Dr. Richard Weller presents radical new research that demonstrates another and perhaps more important effect of sunshine on the human body that could change the way we think about going out in the sun. More about Richard… Dr. Richard Weller is an academic dermatologist in Edinburgh, with a professionally unfashionable love of the sun.
Whil dermatologists have warned of the risks of pale skinned populations developing skin cancer if exposed to too much ultra-violet radiation, there is a positive side to it. Vitamin D is generated in sun exposed skin and is essential to life, but the data confirming that taking Vitamin D supplements improves health is shaky.

"While the Catholic sort of philosophical cannibalism has its time and place, I suppose (I leave that to the actual Catholics), this was more akin to the discussion of 'what makes a man' and involved a hyper-realistic cake, a hyper-realistic cake actually made of meat, and taking notes on how uncomfortable eating each of them made each participant." Most people hadn't minded the cake, but some of them had balked at the 'meat cake,' as he'd just called it, stating that it looked far too much like an actual person to eat.
Grif was instantly fascinated. A good story that came with decent food? Score. "Really? Philosophical cannibalism in the Catholic sense, or something a little less milquetoast?"

Chiasa approaches Weller with an open cellphone! "Hiya! Iya wants ta speak ta ya!" After giving him the phonecall, she went back to work on the buildings that were now coming together rather well.
Um, Hello there - this is Dr. Mbeki speaking....Happy holidays! Ahem.
Weller could hear the discomfort from voice alone. She was not exactly well-versed with speaking over the phone.
I felt like I needed to clear up a few things regarding your um... 'experiment'. My hybridization is not exactly magical? It does not work the same way that werewolves do, in any case.
It is based on my genetic work: using a proccess to use any animal dna material - i made sure it does not react to plants or bacteria - to alter a genetic sequence. it is not a response the rest of my body is aware of - the only thing my body has influence in is the rate of mutation, as it relies on cell multiplication and decay.
And I have managed to supress the symptoms, so I am not currently in a position to 'experiment' with it unless I reactivated it, but then I would have to go back to avoiding injesting any animal dna.

Learn about my muses' physical features! // Accepting
@hopeandharmonizing asked: [legs] Ghira and Yang, [face] Weller, [eyes] Ironwood
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[legs]: are they solidly built, short and stubby, or long and graceful, do they have knobbly knees or rounded knees, what’s their gait, etc.
Ghira has very powerful legs, like the rest of him. He can use them, in addition to his claws, to climb surfaces he otherwise wouldn't be capable of. His long legs help contribute to his massive size, both height-wise and just overall presense.
Because he's so tall and very aware of the space he takes up, Ghira is usually pretty careful when he walks. He does his best not to walk into anything, and he naturally walks very quietly.
For such a big man, he's very light on his feet, and that does have to do with the fact that he's a panther faunus. And also the shoes he wears help with the walking softly part.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[legs]: are they solidly built, short and stubby, or long and graceful, do they have knobbly knees or rounded knees, what’s their gait, etc.
Yang has very nice legs, and she's very aware of that fact. They're muscular and toned, and she frequently shows them off in short-shorts or skirts. The skin on her legs is smooth, as well, and she always takes care of them after shaving by making sure to moisturize.
Her knees aren't anything too special; just normal knees. She carries herself with confidence, and her stride is long and proud; she walks into clubs as if she owns the place (especially Junior's), despite being too young to drink.
Even though she fights with her fists most of the time, Yang does not skip leg day, and she could absolutely crush a person with her thighs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[face]: what is the shape of their face, do they have pronounced cheekbones or a strong jaw, what’s the size and shape of their nose, what’s the size and shape of their ears, do they stick out, are they pointed, etc.
Dr. Weller doesn't quite have a heart-shaped face; he doesn't have the widow's peak for it, but he does have the pointed chin. His cheekbones are very pronounced, and if it wasn't covered with a beard, his jaw would be considered pretty chiseled.
His nose is pretty straight and small, and it has never been broken, as he prefers to talk his way out of any and all situations instead of fighting.
Dr. Weller's ears are nothing out of the ordinary, and if they did stick out, they're covered by his hair. Still, the help hold up his glasses, and that's the point of ears, if you ask him. They are a tiny bit pointed at the top, though again, you can't see that unless he moves his hair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[eyes]: not just the colour, but the shape, the length of their eyelashes, whether they’re alert or usually half-closed, large or small, sunken into the face, ringed by bags, etc.
James' eyes are narrow and a deep dark blue. He has dark lashes that unfortunately don't distract from the almost perpetual bags under his eyes, though those are definitely more pronounced after the fall of Beacon.
Despite that fact, he is almost always alert, looking out for any threat, the way a good soldier should.
Additionally, whenever Mettle activates, his eyes appear to almost lose some of their colour, going more grey than blue, which is a good way to tell if his Semblance might be part of the reason he's pushing through something that might otherwise not necessarily seem like the best idea to someone else.

Prom Night (1980) is one of six horror films in which Jamie Lee Curtis appeared over a three-year span from 1978 to 1981 and the last covered by the Grue-Crew. Three John Carpenter films (Halloween, The Fog, Halloween II) and Prom Night are joined by Road Games and Terror Train.
Prom Night is not the best of Curtis’s 1978-1981 six-pack of horror movies (does that go without saying?), but is it the worst? Leslie Nielsen, soon to go through his transformation to a standout comedic actor, has little to do as Curtis’s character’s father and the school’s principal. There’s also the student body providing fodder for the killer, the creepy kids that set the whole thing in motion fifteen years earlier, and athe disco music and dancing. Don’t worry. The Grue Crew will give you the straight poop.
At the time of this writing, Prom Night is available to stream from Shudder, Amazon Prime, Peacock, Hoopla, Kanopy, Tubi, PlutoTV, and Freevee. It is also available on physical media as a Blu-ray formatted disc from Synapse Films.
Every two weeks, Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror 1980s podcast will cover another horror film from the 1980s. The next episode’s film, chosen by Chad, will be Ghost Story (1981), based on Peter Straub’s 1979 novel! The Grue-Crew has been wanting to do this one for a long time! If you heard them announce Without Warning (1980) on the podcast, they apologize for the change, but it is on the schedule for November. Be patient, fellow babies.
Please let them know how they’re doing! They want to hear from you – the coolest, grooviest fans – so leave them a message or comment on the Gruesome Magazine Youtube channel, on the Gruesome Magazine website, or email the Decades of Horror 1980s podcast hosts at [email protected].

Advertising in the music trade press, this week in 1989.
Context follows...
"Be free with your love" was Spandau Ballet's big comeback single, a big and breezy and brassy pop song. Lyric was a bit naff, Tony Hadley's voice rocked, and the instrumental break was awesome. Didn't quite make the top 40, and that's the last we heard of Spandau Ballet.
youtube
Jason Donovan introduced himself to Canadian programmers in the pages of RPM. "Too many broken hearts" remains the ultimate 1989 record, squealing guitars and the S-A-W drum pattern.
"The best reason to play Jason Donovan is because he's exceptional." Looking back on his career: yeah, the lad's done good.
youtube
Choices was the singles collection from the Blow Monkeys. Doctor Robert and his backing band came through the sophistipop scene, and never quite hit the top tier of fame like Tears For Fears and The Eurythmics did.
The band combined sharp social commentary with funky pop grooves, veering towards dance music at this late stage in their career. Dr Robert was always a left-wing critic, but edged his barbs with more wit and humour than certain Paul Wellers we could mention.
Lead single from this greatest hits album was "Choice?", a cracking dance groove with vocals from Sylvia Tella, and a three-minute deconstruction of R D Laing's "Public Choice" bullshit theory. (Or of the Section 28 attempt to legalise homophobia, as contemporaneous reports had it. Or both.)
youtube
"That's the way", an attempt at a comeback for Katrina and the Waves. They'd had a big hit with "Walking on sunshine" four summers ago, and been ever-present on radio with songs like "Sun street" and "Do you want crying".
But a second signature hit had evaded the group. Would this be the breakhrough they craved? And if it was, should they have released it a month earlier when it was still sunny outside?
Katrina and the Waves continued to plug away, to diminishing returns. They next crossed the public radar in early 1997, when they turned up amongst the has-beens and never-weres competing for the Eurovision Song Contest prize... but that's another story.
