orange lake; do you have anyone you can turn to when you’re sad?
yes! there are two whole people in this world that I spill absolutely everything to bc I trust them with my life and esp when I’m sad bc they always make me feel better. talking to them when I’m having A Day is like I vent and instantly I am normal again. they know who they are I’m sure but for transparency’s sake, it’s u (robin) and maya, no one else gets to unlock my tragic backstories <3
titans; do you prefer slow mornings or relaxing evenings?
relaxing evenings!
shakhnazaryan red; are you currently binge-watching anything?

red ochre; are you more right-brained (creative) or left-brained (analytical)?
I am very much more into creative endeavors, like work-wise, but I feel like the way I think about things is much more analytical. like I prefer Making things, writing or various crafts or what have u, but even when I create I think about the things I’m doing like analytically?? so ig left-brained
burnt sienna; is there a painting that brings you peace when you look at it?
boy with squirrel by john singleton copley. I love him
english red; what animal do you relate to most?
interesting question! I have no idea. maybe birds? like a finch, maybe. they seem like they have fun
cadmium red; do you have a “type” when it comes to a significant other?
this one is hard for me to answer bc like. I truly have no idea what a “type” is idk if that’s an ace thing or what. no? maybe? all the people I’ve had crushes on have been vastly different, in terms of like physical looks so probably not actually. I’m not attracted to muscular people tho bc I don’t think they have feelings <3
carmine; what does your ideal second date look like?
once again I have never pictured a date. I just want to hold hands! I think for the ideal first date question I said it just had to be going somewhere where we could Do things together, like walking around a museum or going through shops downtown or something, and that does still apply here, but for the sake of shaking it up, uhh...idk maybe staying in and watching a movie. like not at a theater no one needs to know my business like that but like. at a House. whoever’s, I’m not picky, again ideally I just want to hold hands.

cobalt blue spectral; what is the most beautiful place you have ever been to?
I have not been to a lot of places! I’ve been to new york, and san diego, and like. phoenix outside of where I live so. actually if I can include like buildings in places I would like to say that one opera house I went to in new york. I learned I wasn’t a fan of operas BUT I also learned those chandeliers were cool as hell
ultramarine; when was the last time you were in a good mood? do you know/remember what sparked it?
I’m usually in a good mood, I think? my baseline mood is genuinely just like. happy/chill, pero I think the last time I felt Euphoria (tm) was a couple days ago when my mom and I made a really nice dinner together and my brother was there and we just played board games all night
blue; what’s the most recent dream you remember?
I have this recurring habit of waking up from dreams but only barely so when I fall back asleep it feels like I just woke up within the dream? anyway the last one was like that but in one of the times I ‘woke up’ I looked out the window and instead of outside there was like this. static photo of buffalo grazing in open fields?? and it was like green screened kinda, so when I move the image moved with my line of sight it was weird. that’s how I knew it was a dream and woke myself up again, only to immediately fall back asleep and feel like I was waking up from a dream within a dream again
bright blue; what does your dream family look like? any kids or pets? how many of each?
I think living with friends would be cool. like I want to have a significant other I live with but also if we lived with other friends that would be fun. kids, maybe! would be something I’d have to discuss with whatever partner I have in the future. if yes to kids, max two. also I don't want babies, preferably I would adopt older children. pets absolutely, however many doesn’t matter. I’m open to just living in a house with the love of my life and like twelve dogs, that’s ok with me
blue cobalt; do you like your name? would you give yourself a different name if you could?
I do like my name! I think it’s nice and it feels like it fits me. I don’t think I’d change it ever, but if I did I think maybe I’d go with jude bc yes I do love to project <3
prussian azure; what’s your favorite scent?
it’s a tie between suntan lotion and the lumber aisle of any hardware store
azure blue; what’s your favorite type of tea, if any?
vanilla rooibos tea supremacy!
turquoise blue; if you could start a garden, what would you plant?
lots of flowers, first of all. also some kitchen herbs. maybe some fruits!
cerulean blue; if you were guaranteed to have a viewership, would you start a youtube vlog?
yes <3 I want to force people to listen to my pretentious horror opinions and get paid for it
glauconite; describe your body without using any negative adjectives.
look I just have to say it: I’m hot. last night I took a photo and saw my nose from the side and went “omg who IS she” like it’s cute. I’M cute. I’ve seen my ass in the mirror and nothing can top it, sorry
yellow green; picture yourself walking in a field. what do you see & hear in this scenario?
all I’m getting is those scenes from horror movies where eerie whistling starts and like birds start going crazy
green light; are you in a comfortable place in life? if not, what do you think might make it better?
I think so?? I’d like to be more financially secure, pero. I think for the most part yeah I’m alright
green; name three countries you want to visit; do you have any actual plans in place to visit any of them?
ireland and greece for sure, ireland is the one I have most planned out in my head. ig maybe england for the third one, just bc I know my mom wants to go and also I’m very bad at geography so I don’t know what counts as a country. NOLADrinks Show – 11-18-19 – New Orleans’ Sazerac House
We start things up letting you know about this week’s show. We’re also joined by Tracy Napolitano, executive director of the New Orleans Bourbon Festival. He lets us know about an upcoming event – NOLA Repeal Day – taking place at Antoine’s in the French Quarter on December 5.
Then, we’re off to the newly opened Sazerac House located on Canal and Magazine Streets in the Central Business District and right on the edge of the French Quarter in New Orleans.
We’re joined by Miguel Solorzano and David Bock, the space’s general manager and distillery operations manager, respectively. We chat about the Sazerac House and its impressive presentation. It is a museum that features interactive displays and exhibits on the history of spirits and cocktails in New Orleans. It also features tasting stations, well-informed docents, and a gift shop boasting many of the products made by the parent company – Sazerac Company, Inc. (owned by Buffalo Trace.)
Tumblr media
In addition, we talk about the original Sazerac House (previously known as the Merchants Exchange Coffee House), a touchstone location founded in the 19th century that plays an important role in the Sazerac cocktail and the overall drinking culture and history in New Orleans. It was originally located a handful of blocks away, sitting between Royal St. and Exchange Place.
We discuss the history of the Sazerac cocktail, how it was and is, currently, made, and sample a great example of it! We also taste and discuss other things including a pre-barrel aged sample of their Sazerac Rye (“White Dog”), the finished product, and a Planter’s Punch cocktail.
Pictured at left – The distillery’s column still where limited quantities of Sazerac Rye are produced.
Miguel and David stick around for our podcast-only segment – “Another Shot with NOLADrinks.” We sample their three rums from the new “Jung and Wulff” line coming from Trinidad, Guyana, and Barbados.
Of course, we also let you know how you can visit the museum (it’s free to enter) and connect with them online, too.
We close things out with our “Parting Shot” noting Wednesday, November 20 as Transgender Day of Remembrance.
The map below shows the location of the Sazerac House. You can subscribe to, download, and stream The NOLADrinks Show with Bryan Dias using the links and player at the top of the post.
Cheers, You All!

Destination Pairs Acclaimed Golf with Thanksgiving, Christmas Celebrations through Year’s End
What’s better than enjoying one of the most-compelling golf destinations in the world? Doing so during the holidays in Branson, a multi-faceted place that becomes a Christmas Wonderland in November and December.
In the past few years, the destination has exploded into the international golf consciousness, thanks to five new courses built by Big Cedar Lodge, including designs by Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Those five courses bring Branson Golf to 10 playing venues, and they provide ideal options due to a variety of price points, terrain, design styles, and number of holes (there are two short courses among the group, both among the best in America).
Fortunately, golf is going strong in Branson in November and December. So pairing great rounds with remarkable seasonal events is easy and filled with abundant options.
For more than a quarter century, Branson has made its holiday lineup of events a treasured tradition. Celebrations run from the beginning of November through New Year’s Day – there’s no waiting for Thanksgiving to kick-off the holidays here.
For Thanksgiving, there are dozens of restaurants and hotels offering wonderful meals and the spirit of the day, and scores of Christmas-themed activities and places beckon, including the following:
Christmas Shows – Branson is known for world-class live music shows. With an amazing lineup of special performances and themed shows, a Christmas show in Branson is unlike any other.
Christmas Lights – Christmas light displays are throughout the Branson area. Driving tours such as “Let There Be Lights!” and Branson’s “Lights of Joy” and “Trail of Lights” are exciting to explore. During the Christmas season, visitors can even experience light displays while walking through Branson Landing, the waterfront town center filled with shops, restaurants, bars, and more. Silver Dollar City, Branson’s iconic theme park, is home to the largest Christmas light display in this area with more than six million lights across the park.
Old Time Christmas – Everyone can experience the wonder of Silver Dollar City during “An Old-Time Christmas” festival. The child in everyone comes alive when they see the lights covering the city. Live Christmas shows, 1,000 decorated Christmas trees, an eight-story Christmas tree with special effects, and the Holly Jolly Christmas Light Parade are part of the park’s amazing holiday lineup.
Christmas Joy of Giving – Looking for the perfect gifts for your loved ones? In Branson, you can enjoy Christmas traditions and get all your Christmas shopping done! Specialty shops, outlet malls and unique-to-Branson experiences await, just be sure to bring your full shopping list.

Best Place For Romantic Dinner-Insights
Anniversary gifts need a special place to be given; and there is no better place to give that gift then a gourmet burgers restaurant. The food is fabulous, the atmosphere is cozy, the prices are right, and the ambiance is festive. When you are looking for a fantastic place to celebrate the next anniversary with your significant other, it is a great idea to search for a place where they have special menus with anniversary specials. If you are looking for a great place to get married, you can also look for a restaurant near where you have your wedding. The options are almost limitless; the number of places that you can visit are almost as many as the number of people who will be attending your party. You can learn more at best place for romantic dinner.
Tumblr media
One of the best things about a restaurant is that it caters for whatever type of occasion it is. For instance, there are places that cater to only children's birthday parties. These are the places where you want to avoid going to. Instead, you should focus on searching for a waterfront restaurant near the beach where you can enjoy a quiet evening with your best friends. You can get a nice seafood dinner meal or even go on a boating excursion with your best friends.
If you want a nice lunch near the waterfront, you should look for the best happy hour specials in any area that you are considering. These specials are usually updated every week, so you will know what will be available. However, some areas have updated menus daily, so you might want to keep an eye open for these spots. For example, the places that offer the best happy hour specials might have live entertainment every day of the week, while others may have entertainment only on specific nights of the week. The food that is offered is also likely to vary from one place to another, since many waterfront restaurants serve lunch and dinner.
Some people enjoy eating at local businesses as opposed to chain restaurants. Some of these places are more expensive, but if you know what you are looking for, you should be able to find some good places where to eat for anniversary celebrations. Most of the restaurants near the water have outdoor seating so you won't have to worry about the weather. The only downfall to this is that the food tends to be a little cold. However, many of these restaurants have some great dishes that will make your taste buds tingle.
Some of the best places to eat for anniversary celebrations are date restaurants near the waterfront. Many of these restaurants have an outdoor patio where you can enjoy lunch or dinner with your date without having to worry about the weather. You can order some very nice dishes in these restaurants and you will get a nice feeling from the atmosphere. Many of these restaurants also offer happy hour drink specials where you can get some very nice cocktails to take home after the date.
If you love seafood, then you should consider going to a seafood restaurant. The prime rib is one of the most popular items on the menu of many of these restaurants. Some of the prime rib specials include roasted chicken or buffalo steak. You will find that a seafood restaurant is a great place to go with your date if you enjoy a good meal and some great cocktails. Some of these restaurants also offer happy hour specials where you can get a special cocktail for only $8.00.
Best Romantic Places For Dinner Near Me
The best romantic places to go and stay in San Diego, California are more than just beach resorts. Many of these scenic beaches offer miles of breathtaking coastline, beautiful sceneries and endless miles of ocean for couples to explore together. If you're looking for romance in a new city, here are some romantic spots to see near the Pacific Ocean in San Diego. These destinations provide couples with opportunities to experience luxury, entertainment and adventure in a variety of settings.
Of course, the most famous locations in San Diego for weddings are the hotels. This includes the Best Western Seven seas and deluxe hotels, the Hilton and Solamar, Holiday Inn and many others. However, these aren't your only options when it comes to lodging for your wedding celebration. You can also visit the Mission Inn, the Comfort Inn, the Wildfire Inn, the Coronado Hotel, and many others. All of these couples-friendly accommodations provide great locations for receptions and meals as well as wine trails and wineries for the couples who wish to take a break from the reception tables.
Tumblr media
If you're looking for a unique getaway in San Diego that's unlike anything else in the world, you should consider some of the best romantic places to go and stay in for an intimate dinner. Many of these hotels have their very own outdoor patios where you can enjoy dinner and talk over hot coffee while watching the waves come and go in the ocean. If you want to get away from the crowd, try some of these outdoor patios and stroll hand-in-hand with your special someone. Some of these rates start at just $ Posts, but for a couple, you get the added benefit of a heated pool and outdoor sauna.
If you're looking for some remote, out-of-the-way romantic places to spend a weekend, San Diego offers a few mountain destinations for you to explore. Two popular places are Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. While you can't exactly see the wildlife on your own, you can tour the parks, hike some of the trails or even take a water ride across the waters. Both of these locations are expensive, so you might want to book reservations ahead of time if you want to avoid being charged resort fees or paying for food and drinks.
For those on a budget, you might want to consider some of the more relaxing and secluded resorts that San Diego has to offer. The Best Western Six Flags Over San Diego is one of these properties and it boasts two five-star hotels as well as a number of five-minute walking trails, nature watching adventures, and complimentary yoga classes for guests. These luxurious hotels are located near the beach and are near several of the top shopping, dining and nightlife venues in San Diego. In addition to the hotels, The Six Flags Over San Diego offers several restaurants, spas, and shows featuring entertainment from bands like Aerosmith, Motley Crew, and Kaleidoscope.
You don't need to worry about spending exorbitant amounts of money to experience a romantic vacation in San Diego. There are plenty of affordable places to stay for cheap, including places that are within the downtown area. These include businesses like Jack's Place, Zocalo, and Bistro Mezes. All of these places offer discount rates and will give you a lovely time out in San Diego while giving you inexpensive accommodations at night and romantic meals in the restaurants during the day.

Today’s #MondayMaker is the totally awesome @thinicegiftshop located in Buffalo, NY. Top 5 Reasons I love @thinicegiftshop and why you should check them out: 1. Therese (the owner) is super great! She’s fair, honest, and kind to her vendors, as well as flexible and understanding. She’s done an amazing job of displaying and representing my art (in all its tiny-ness and variety). Many shops are too hesitant to take on such small and varied inventory as it is surely much harder to keep track of and monitor. Therese happily takes my miniatures and has fun with displaying them! 2. Thin Ice brings in REALLY excellent quality, unique, and affordable art from local artists of all kinds. If you haven’t checked out Buffalo’s incredible local art scene, @thinicegiftshop is a great place to start! 3. The shop is constantly updating, improving, expanding its selection of unique arts and gifts, so its fun to visit often to see what’s new! I love perusing and get inspired every time I go in. 4. The shop is located on Elmwood Ave in Buffalo, a neat spot with lots of local businesses. Thin Ice is a big part of Buffalo’s local community and makes a lot of effort to support artists and businesses around it. 5. It always feels good to shop at a small local business with an owner (and cats) you can get to know and trust. @thinicegiftshop is a great example of local, friendly, community-oriented business. And if I’M going to spend money I want it to be supporting people, places and things I care about. Please check out @thinicegiftshop on instagram for inspiration and laughs and in real life to see just how amazing of an art emporium it is. Thank you Therese for making it such a gem of downtown Buffalo! - - - #makersgonnamake #giftshop #shoplocal #localcrafts #supportsmallbusiness #supportsmall #supportlocalartists #communitybusiness #buffalo #buffalony #cats #catsofbuffalo #elmwoodave #downtownbuffalo #friendlyfaces #localart #buffalolocalart #buffalogiftshop #shoplocalbuffalo #buffalove

days 63-69
Tumblr media
day sixty-three [mar. 5]
8:00 am - Notice my tax refund has hit +$1213! Make a chemex. Try to be chill for this am’s call. It’s kind of a big one.
10:00 am - Well it went really well. I was asked to be a decisionmaker on the call so that’s a nice boost to my ego. Eat the final piece of pineapple pie to celebrate / also just to eat breakfast.
2:00 pm - I have a giant monthly report that I’m delivering next week, so I get started on that. I get ¼ of the way done and decide to cut work early to exercise.
5:30 pm - We try to order from Monroe’s – the hot chicken place I picked up food from for M’s birthday but it’s closed / not taking online orders. We decide to get Cornish Pasty instead. K gets a veggie Mexican and I get the vegan Guinness stew. We also share an order of oven chips with garlic & jalapeno. K pays for this one.
8:30 pm - I am so so full. I have a phone date tonight with C - I think in my last diary I referred to him as BFF? Either way, he’s moved to Seattle and we chat probably every month or so for a few hours. I am feeling so so full from pasty that I take a really long walk to settle my stomach. I walk to the lake and then across and down to campus. At some point I stop to buy a water from a vending machine but it gives me a Dr. Pepper. Find a different one and buy a water instead. $4.25
11:30 pm - Realize I need to go to bed and let C go.
day sixty-three total: $0
day sixty-four
8:30 am - Wake up and make a chemex. Read a few chapters of The Guest List and start to move all of the furniture in the living room into the center of the room for the trim. Spend the next hour cleaning/prepping while K walks to the lake.
11:00 am - Last time I did the kitchen my quads were so sore so I decide to do a pure barre class prior to starting knowing that I’ll be way too sore tomorrow.
12:30 pm - K and I are determined to get this hot chicken. We place an order at the downtown location and I go over there to pick it up. We both get vegans - extra hot + hot + fries + 2 orders of pickles. $48.18
3:00 pm - Finally start taping the living room.
6:45 pm - That took 400 years. Start the first layer of paint.
9:45 pm - Second layer of paint.
11:45 pm - Eat some chips and salsa. Manage to bolt the door closed and head to bed. What a day.
day sixty-four total: $48.18
day sixty-five
8:45 am - Wow my legs. I am so so sore. I want to try to get the living room put back together as soon as possible so I don’t delay in making my coffee and ripping up tape.
11:00 am - Why does this take 800 years? It’s not fair. Make us tofu/egg tacos for breakfast with low carb tortillas.
12:00 pm - K helps me put the room back together. We really take our time sweeping and dusting and even going through all of our things. He is a big help!
2:30 pm - The living room is put back together! Rejoice.
3:30 pm - K and I go hit golf balls. We both do a lot better than the first time we went out and have a lot of fun. He pays for the bucket of balls.
5:00 pm - Toss beans in the instant pot.
6:00 pm - Pour a glass of wine and meet with K’s family on zoom.
7:30 pm - Big burritos for din with beans, rice, lettuce, cheeze, & jackfruit with chips and salsa.
8:00 pm - idk what’s up with me but i am in a huge snacky mood. Eat chocolate and a few spoonfuls of peanut butter.
9:00 pm - K walks to the lake and I start scoping out clothes/sales again. I have a $100 gift card from Everlane for Christmas from K’s parents and decide to use that. I buy 2 dresses and a pair of pants. ($18.27) I also stumble across a pair of boots that are just beautiful. I want them so badly but they’re made of leather. I scope out Poshmark and find a pair in my size and they’re ACTUALLY used and in my size. They’re listed for $80 and I offer $70. The seller accepts ($83.12) $101.39
day sixty-five total: $101.39
day sixty-six
8:00 am - I am so sore still. Ugh. Pure barre charge comes thru. $15
10:00 am - Officially done with pie for breakfast so I eat yogurt instead.
12:00 pm - Finish the last of the BBQ chicken salad for lunch. Continue my shopping adventures and find a pair of mules from Madewell on Poshmark. Offer $50 and it’s accepted. $61.50
4:00 pm - I’m still pretty sore but I stretch out a bit and do a pure barre livestream.
5:30 pm - The weather is really nice out and so I decide to read on the porch. It doesn’t take long before K asks me to come with him to his office so he can clean out his stuff. Background: he was furloughed in August and the place he works isn’t renewing the lease.
7:00 pm - We arrive home. I think K feels defeated. I kinda do too.. Feels like the end of an era. He isn’t up for dinner. I heat up some pozole for myself.
8:00 pm - K decides to go for a walk and I want to finish Season 21 of The Challenge (Rivals) so I stay home. Make a rum drink with soda water, a tiny agave squeeze and some limes. It’s very good.
day sixty-six total: $76.50
day sixty-seven
7:45 am - up early today. I have a meeting at 8:30 today to pull some data/talk about KPIs for the project I’ve been put in “decision-maker status” for. The meeting goes well and I feel good about the data alignment.
9:30 am - I get sent a zoom link without any warning. I tell them to give me a minute so I can pee and heat up my coffee. On my way to the kitchen I knock over a glass and it shatters EVERYWHERE. I take a few minutes to clean it up and forget to pee.
10:45 am - run to the restroom. K asks me to join him in the spare room where his “office” is. I work on reporting for a while in there. Eat plant yogurt.
12:30 pm - i wait too long to eat and am feeling overwhelmed and stressed. K rubs my back and helps me clean the kitchen. I swear these dishes never end.
1:15 pm - i have to pee again and this time it burns. Fuck fuck fuck. Not sure if it’s yeast or urinary tract but either one can’t be good. I pay some more attention to my body and realize that i can feel my bladder swelling which means i’m in uti territory. I have a super sensitive bladder and this puts me in a panic. Change my underwear, dig through my supplies and find a test strip, and AZO. Pound a bunch of water to keep things moving.
1:45 pm - Fears are realized. At home UTI test comes back positive. I am able to land a prescription very quickly through undisclosed sources. In the meantime, I take AZO for my symptoms and advil for my bladder inflammation.
5:45 pm - Finish working for the day and all I want is a glass of wine but I know that will fuck up my urinary tract even more. Stick to water and such. Decide not to work out tonight either given I don’t have the antibiotics yet and any agitation to my bladder will harm my current state.
6:15 pm - Roast potatoes in the oven and the text from CVS comes that my prescription is ready. Roll on over to pick it up. $1.02
7:00 pm - Buffalo chicken sandwiches is the vibe for dinner. Continue drinking water, take more AZO.
day sixty-seven total: $1.02
day sixty-eight
8:00 am - wake up feeling like my body did some solid healing work. Make a chemex and QA some stuff for a 9:30 meeting where I have to present.
11:00 am - plant yogurt. Definitely feeling a lot better today already AND my calendar is clear for work aka def going to work out before 5.
11:45 am - Buy vitamin D on amazon but it’s free since I have the gift card from my boss. Eat leftover cauliflower fried rice for lunch.
3:00 pm - work is actually slow today and my urinary tract is feeling on the mend. Take a barre class recording and shower all before 4 PM.
6:00 pm - tonight we’re doing leftover big burritos with roasted potatoes. We’re out of tortilla chips and honestly dipping the potatoes in salsa is pretty dope.
8:00 pm - i kinda ease in and out of feelin’ tired. Read some of The Guest List before turning in.
day sixty-eight total: $0
day sixty-nine
8:00 am - wake up feeling again like i was in a deep deep healing mode sleep. Make coffee and get to work.
11:30 am - make pad thai for lunch.
2:30 pm - try on all of my clothes that came from ann taylor/loft plus the boss boot shoes from poshmark. Everything fits really well and I’m happy I took the plunge to figure out what my new sizes actually are. I am still really self conscious of my belly… it’s like a ledge and i really don’t get it because i am otherwise very thin. It could be a hormone thing or it could be a gut thing but i decide to try to tackle both at once. Vitamin d and zinc for horomones (which I already have on hand) i do some research and find a supplement from hum nutrition to try and decide to start taking ACV shots to see if anything changes. $25.45
4:50 pm - do a pure barre live stream recording. Shower and eat too many snacks.
7:00 pm - start a new season of the challenge while k goes to hit golf balls. Upon his return I make him a burrito with potatoes and myself some leftover pozole.
11:00 pm - finish the guest list. Didn’t see the ending coming at all! Get some sleep for vaccine #2 tomorrow.
day sixty-nine total: $25.45

Today I woke up around 10am, I made 3 eggs (with peppers and spinach), tater tots, and sausage for breakfast. My breakfast cost a total of $5.87. After that I hung out with may boyfriend and we made some designs to print onto tote bags. My roommate and his girlfriend had dinner reservations at 6:15 and needed a ride, but we decided to go out and show her a few of our favorite stores before they went to dinner. We went to the I Like You store which is an awesome gift shop that features a ton of Minnesota themed, and made, products.
After that we went to the Salvation Army thrift store in downtown. If you didn’t know this thrift store is 2 stories. The first floor is a regular thrift store but the basement is only brand new target products. It is filled with things that were discontinued, returned or had minor defects. It’s really interesting to see what you can find there (we didn’t find much unfortunately). After that we went to buffalo exchange and I got an awesome silky button down shirt. It is a very summer-y shirt but it was only $7.75. That is because it was $15.50 but it was 50% off because of a small hole in the shirt. We dropped them off at their dinner reservation and my boyfriend and I decided to stop at Lunds and Byerlys to get something to make for dinner.
We decided on Bacon and Cheddar burgers purchased from the butcher section. We also picked up onion flavored buns and paired our burgers with a veggie scramble and homemade sweet potato fries. Dinner cost $20 for both of us. After that we decided to drink some whiskey and cokes, we used his whiskey (which means I didn’t have to pay) and I bought Diet Coke for $2.99 from the corner store. We played some drinking games and ended up in bed around 4:30 am. That was the latest I have stayed up in FOREVER. My screen time was 5 hours and 12 minutes, with my most used app being twitter for 54 minutes.

“Visit Gamler’s”, our newest design at Society6. We’re still tweaking a few sizes for some products, but this is adapted from an old photograph of an advertisement from Gamler’s in Buffalo, NY promoting their new gift department. The Gamler’s Jewelers Building in the 500 block of Main Street in downtown Buffalo dates back to 1902. Harry Gamler bought the building and built a new storefront in 1934, where the business remained until 1995. Along with the adjacent buildings, the former Berger’s Department Store, Gamler’s has been converted to loft apartments and renamed the Belesario. New Look Sabres: GM 38 - OTT - Merry Meh
Tumblr media
3-1 Regulation Loss
This team is Jack Eichel and the Merry Meh Men. Remember when you were a kid and you got a shirt from your grandma for Christmas? It was a gift and whether you liked it or not you had to be thankful for it but… you know as a kid that’s… well meh. I wanted the Hess truck, Grandma, not another button up I’ll only wear to Church! This game was that. That meh feeling you get on Christmas morning when you peel open the shirt box. The Ottawa Senators have decided to be the watchable kind of awful and are giving even the good teams a run for their money every now and again. Jean-Gabriel Pageau is the French wonder man and hometown kid that would have been a perfect player for the organization when they launched 25 years ago. He’s one of only a few stars left on their roster. Anthony Duclair is having a bit of a revenge tour scoring goals with the urgency of last-minute Christmas shopping. Duclair and Pageau are having themselves nice little seasons while the Canadian Capital positions itself for another high draft pick. Meanwhile the Buffalo Sabres are supposed to be past the stage of angling for high draft picks but they don’t seem too eager to reclaim a playoff spot at the moment. You could have had a nice little string of wins going into the Christmas break and sailed into Boston looking like a force. Nope, we get to have a loss to the Ottawa Senators on the rolodex of memories for this season. Great! Look, I don’t think this was even the worst Sabres game this month but geez, you got to win games like this if you sincerely want to make the playoffs! Jack Eichel’s point streak, personal or not however you want it, is over where it started against the Sens. It was almost to twenty games! It was almost a fourth of the whole season long! UGH! This game is hardly worth writing about. It was just so very meh.
The Sabres started out pretty well. I mean both teams only had one official shot on goal for the first ten minutes. But they weren’t losing yet. It was boring more than anything else. I started thinking about how terrible that arena outside Ottawa is. If you think we have a bad owner, oh baby, you ain’t seen nothing. They could’ve had a sweet new downtown arena and Eugene Melnyk bitched and moaned his way out of it. To the two Sens fans reading this I apologize, this game doesn’t provide me with a lot of original material. As the shooting picked up the saves picked up too. Craig Andersen and Linus Ullmark seemed pretty equally matched. Even before the Sens broke the ice the game was getting more physical. Boring teams do that sometimes to get something going. Mr. Tough Boy on the Sens is Brady Tkachuk, he’s got the face of a bully and everything, but the problem is he’s also pretty decent at hockey. He’s fighting along the boards in the last minute of the first period and quickly gets the puck out to Jean-Gabriel Pageau who beats Ullmark on a one-timer. Sting though it did there were hardly any chances in that period, and you expect the Sabres to turn it on at some point, right? Well sorta. Jack Eichel and the usual suspects had their chances in the first period but in the second period as the Sabres asserted their will a bit more it was scrubs like Jimmy Vesey and Zemgus Girgensons getting the hottest chances. But this period as well reeked of meh. Even as the Sabres took over every 5 on 5 statistical category though only meaningful play was late in the middle period when Evan Rodrigues reclaimed a puck off a Sens defender, ERod yeah, do you remember him? He got the puck out to the slot where Zemgus Girgensons hardly touched it really to put it on net and saw it bounce off some limbs and posts to go in. The game was tied after a period that just felt inscrutably meh.
When the players you don’t care are still on your team are the ones injecting life into your game you know its not your night. It’s Christmas Eve, I’m not going to go on and on about an ultimately meh game. Long story short: Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored a sneaky one to reclaim the lead about four minutes into the final frame as the home team decided it wanted this one more. About fifteen boring minutes later the Sabres pulled their goalie and couldn’t shut down a rush the other way and Brady Tkachuk put in the insurance goal. This one ended 3-1 in regulation. Now I’m not going tell you many games are on the Coach. I think we’ve seen enough of those come and go here that we understand it’s the players sometimes too. We have a lot to say about certain players on this team in this game, but I have to throw a question Ralph Krueger’s way: Where was the motivation in this game? A divisional matchup in December on the day before Christmas Eve. Did you go around the locker room before the game and have every player talk about what they’re doing for the holiday? COME ON! These are the missed opportunities that are going to cost us in February, March and April. You know that. How do you get these players motivated to play a game like this? You know how but you clearly didn’t last night! On the player side of things I’ll say I don’t care how improved Rasmus Ristolainen is, I want him traded already! While you’re at it you could delight every Sabres fan with a move ridding us of Jake McCabe and any number of the other players on this team who have been here too damn long and done precisely nothing! Lawrence Pilut is wasting away in Rochester while Colin Miller gets benched for the ghost of Zach Bogosian!? You have your solutions on defense within the organization! Move broken parts out!
Christmas Eve isn’t a good time for rants. That was for yesterday for Festivus. Let’s move past this game. Midseason Thoughts is something I like to do around Game 41 every year. That game normally falls right around New Year and this year that game is Tampa on New Year’s Eve. Look for Midseason Thoughts after that in the first couple days of the New Year. It’s fun to write a blog about this team that’s not about a specific game because most of the games make you feel a very specific way. Looking at the team holistically… well it makes you feel a certain way too but… yeah just read it. Like, comment and follow to keep track of this blog. I’m debating a midseason rebrand too but unless it seems really necessary I’ll probably wait until after the season. I really hope this season doesn’t end in early April again. Too bad they’re giving me reasons to believe it will again. Nonetheless, Merry Christmas Happy Holidays and Let’s Go Buffalo!
Thanks for Reading.
P.S. The Hurricanes v Leafs game yesterday was everything I hoped the Sabres would be by now – fun and high scoring. Imagine that!
