My oldest headcanon about the new timeline exists since July, 21, 2021 (when I wrote this oneshot https://archiveofourown.org/works/32729335 ). This one is that Jim keeps the new amulet and Excalibur in the new timeline.

My other headcanons about the new timeline and beyond were build through the two and half years (a lot of stuff keeps expanding, to be honest).

So here's my really long post about the happy ending for everyone.

Jim has managed to make everything right in this timeline, even with some stuff he didn't predict (like Enrique was still kidnapped - it just happened on a different date).

Everyone in the new timelines has these odd hunches about things they experienced in the first timeline. Like Claire having some odd attraction to Jim, Blinky being fatherly to Jim, and Barbara getting random thoughts that Strickler might be inhuman. Toby has it the worst as he can't help but think that everything is not his adventure and that Jim would be a better hero.

Because of hunches both Claire and Barbara find out the truth way earlier.

However, Toby is the first who realize that Jim somehow knows about all the incoming events. Jim has no choice but to confess about the time travel. He keeps the details from everyone though, especially those that might cause complications.

Jim brings Douxie into the team before the final encounter with Bular. Claire requests Douxie to become her magic teacher once she joins and he agrees.

Aja, Krel, and Varvatos join once they arrive on Earth.

Draal lives. Vendel is injured but also survives.

Angor gets his soul back this time. He isn't happy with Strickler but decides to let it go per Jim's request.

Toby spares Bular (much to Jim's shock). Bular starts to live in Toby's house, trying to reconsider his ways. Initially, Draal watches his actions and they eventually become friends.

Morgana fails to possess Claire. She possesses Angor instead.

Strickler manages to convince some changelings to switch sides, so more changelings survive.

Jim doesn't allow Merlin to transform anyone into a half-troll. He shows Merlin Excalibur (leaving the latter speechless), so Merlin begrudgingly agrees to try Jim's plan first.

After Gunmar's death, Bular inherits Decimaar and uses it to liberate all the trolls his father controlled.

Jim and Claire talk Morgana into trying to give co-existence a second chance. She isn't convinced fully but agrees to wait.

The residents of the Trollmarket never go to New Jersey, which means that Aja and Krel have more people to help them.

Jim is deadset on never letting anyone be hit with an onyx shard. He ends up taking the hit for Claire - only to discover that it has no effect on him (as Excalibur cannot harm his owner and Jim is technically another owner because of the time paradox).

Merlin isn't happy to learn that the Green Knight is actually King Arthur. The same goes for Morgana, but she blames Merlin for her brother ending that way.

Merlin finally realizes that he has been too stubborn all the time, refusing to see other options. He uses all his magic to seal Bellroc and Skrael and entrusts Douxie with leading the new king of Camelot.

AND NOW TO BEYOND

Jim is technically the King of Camelot now, which makes him rather uncomfortable at first. However, with Douxie's encouragement, he realizes that more than an authority figure, he's King of knights, a noble protector of both humanity and magical beings, and the first among equals.

Claire continues with her magical studies, fully determined to prove that shadowmancy isn't always evil and can bring much good to this world. She consults a lot with Morgana, even though she still considers Douxie her teacher.

Toby is still this timeline's Trollhunter but lately, he mostly deals with small errands from Bagdwella and other trolls. He doesn't mind as it feels a lot like vacation after everything the team has gone through.

Blinky succeeds Vendel as the leader of Trollmarket. He thinks about bringing some reform to the Tribunal and some obsolete traditions, thinking that trolls should start a new page in their history.

Aaarrrgghh always helps Blinky in his endeavors, but he protects peace in Arcadia. He's much like a local celebrity and kids love him.

Mary and Darci start a blog about various magical creatures, trying to show humans that the supernatural isn't that harmful. Mary also tries to date a troll at some point. It doesn't work, but only because of personality differences, not because their species are too different.

Barbara returns to drawing. Strickler uses some of his connections to promote her art a bit. Surprisingly, Barbara's art becomes really popular.

After some consideration, Strickler opens the school where different creatures, aliens, and humans can exchange their culture. He takes over as a principal and also teaches human history. Blinky comes over for troll history lessons, and when Claire is older she starts to teach Human World Literature there.

Eli is still the Earth ambassador at Akiridion-5, he's rather popular there. Eli is also the one who proposes the start of technological exchange with the Earth. Due to his efforts, Earth's technical progress is busted tremendously.

Steve the head of New Camelot Knights. However, eventually, once he is sure that everything is peaceful on Earth, he moves to Akiridion-5 to support Aja and help Eli. Even though Steve is officially married to Aja, he isn't that accepted at Akiridion-5 as it is technically breaking traditions. This time Aja informs him about all the nuances of akiridion reproduction. They still have kids, but only once both ready and consented to that.

Aja has a lot of stuff to solve, dealing with all the consequences of her parents' rule. She brings in lots of reforms and eventually limits her own authority, taking over the role of the main Akiridion-5 protector, while leaving everything else to those more fitting for it.

Krel moves to Earth, becoming Akiridion-5 ambassador and trying to popularize interstellar travels and exchange. He also has a side career as DJ Kleb.

Varvatos retires and starts living with Nana. Toby calls him granpa, which he doesn't like.

Douxie and Zoe go on the world tour with ADP once the world destruction is prevented. Claire, Mary, and Darci join them as Mama Skull.

Douxie opens his own cafe together with Jim. While they both are co-owners, Douxie enjoys taking over as a waiter occasionally, while Jim often cooks. It's the place where every creature is welcome, and well the Guardians often use it as their gathering spot.

Nomura becomes the leader of changelings who wish to return to troll society. Draal helps her a lot to fight for acceptance and against prejudices. They claim each other as mates, which causes an uproar in some circles. Even though both claim to be disastrous parents, they are great once they have their own kids.

Vendel retires, fully enjoying his rest. He comes to give blinky advice occasionally, but he's mostly a grumpy grandpa for everyone at the Trollmarket.

Dictatious takes over the troll library, adding some stuff he learns.

Angor goes on a travel (for an atonement, as he claims). He's seen all over the world, fighting against slavery and injustice at night. Soon enough he becomes a kind of city legend, and a lot of criminals are scared of him.

Bular goes to the Darklands, fully intending to reform the Gumm-Gumm tribe and get rid of the stigma they have.

Barbara and Strickler have their planned wedding and adopt some of the changelings' familiars, including Strickler's and Nomura.

Ironically, despite Jim and Claire being sure of each other feelings, Toby and Darci have their wedding first. It's the final push that makes Claire propose to Jim.

Enrique grows up to be a party monster, much because of NotEnrique's influence. They both tend to start parties which only Jim can stop.

Zelda (Nomura's familiar) is a huge fan of classical music, so they both can chat about it for hours. No one else is able to follow.

Wallie (Strickler's familiar), however, finds history boring. He's more of an IT and Math kid and is extremely talented. Strickler tells him the truth about their connection, and Wallie goes to live with Jim for some time to sort out his feelings. He forgives Strickler after some time though.

The world keeps changing as humans and supernatural beings learn to co-exist. Trolls take over dangerous mining, trading some difficult-to-get minerals. Humans also realize that trolls can eat some waste, which creates new ways to save nature. Nari feels that it's the world she, Bellroc, and Skrael wished to have before giving up and hopes that one day the rest of the Arcane Order will be unsealed and admit they were wrong.

LoK au Douxie! His mom is from the water tribe and his dad is fire nation. He grew up in the South Pole, and after his mother was killed in an unfortunate attack, he was adopted by his younger half brother’s mom

Avatar au in my brain, but slightly to the left. Thoughts is that Douxie’s father wanted to make an artificial avatar, a powerful being he could control for his own purposes. But the spirit he captured and infused in his infant son refused to cooperate resulting in the baby nearly dying until his father had to abandon the project altogether. It left Douxie sick and weakly growing up and not without scars. But it also left him tainted with spirit energy resulting in him unlocking a type of bending previously known only to spirits and the avatar themselves. Energy bending.

So, essentially, this is just me creating an excuse for Douxie to have what is basically "magic" in the atla universe

After Douxie’s mother died, Barbara adopted him, knowing that no matter how angry she was at her ex-husband, she couldn't blame a suffering child for it

Jim, his younger half brother, is something of a waterbending prodigy. Douxie, believed for a majority of his life to be a nonbender, loved to watch his baby brother be so good at something. To love it clearly and want to be good at it

Since Douxie had been sickly for basically his whole life for unknown reasons living with a healer proved to be beneficial to him, especially during the times when his overall health would decline rapidly at the drop of a hat

At one point it got so bad that he had to be seen by specialists in Republic City. Jim went with him for moral support, which is where they get tangled up in Avatar shenanigans and Korra accidentally activates Douxie’s long dormant spirit abilities and energy bending

Fun notes: he and Korra probably would have met sooner if she hadn't grown up in what was essentially a military compound. Their parents were pretty close friends, and it's a shame they never got to meet before Republic City.

I have a lot of lore for this au and plenty of angst, including Douxie being so goddamn scared of himself that he begs Amon to take his bending away. But since his isn't exactly "bending" and more basically just "spirit magic" it doesn't work.

Don't know when I'll start really writing this but it's gonna happen eventually.

Ok so befor I start going on hear, I’m sorry, I’m just sorry that I even thought of this but the dynamic would be realy interesting.

SO! What if, in Wizards, where the gang (Douxie, Claire, Steve, Jim) return to the present, Jim gets corrupted, the team have to flee and Douxie comes up with his plan to save everyone, it backfires and everyone gets captured.

What if, instead of Author Killing merlin, it was Jim!

Arthur using Merlin’s champion as a show of betrail, that even Merlin’s greatest strength, his creations, can be the very thing that would cause his down fall, and his inevitable end at the hands of the hunter he neglected, one of the reason They corrupted Jim, or as they only saw, the Troll hunter.

Douxies and Jim’s relationship after, Jim Human or half troll you decide, would end up being a mixture of anger and distrust, but enviably overcoming it, both discovering who each other realy are, and opening up to the ordeal, becoming stronger allies, and friends.

Insert epic King and wiszard team up fight against the Order.

Also the emotions, the character development of the twos relationship, ( which honestly wasn’t much in cannon, missed opportunity, but that’s just my opinion.)

Douxie having to tangle with sides, one. Blaming Jim for the loss of his father figure and mentor, but the other trying to remind him it was just the corruption, making Douxie make the tough desition to live with his emotions to rise up as a leader in order to save the ones he still has( Archie and Charlie playing a big roll in that part). Finally confronting Jim in Rise of the Titans, with either a firm hand shake like they did before returning to the present, or even a hug, apologising that he had to endure the challenges of merlins visions, and not get to see the side not filled with pride. Fighting along side there new King not built from the wrath of the past, but the hope in the future.

Jim on the other side of this story, goes like this.

Jim freed from enemy control, pretends for his friends everything is fine, the truth is anything but that.

Traumatised and more afraid then ever, When Douxie suggests someone flame exgalaber, everyone agreeing it should be the trollhunter. Jim reluctant to pick up the blade, tries for his friends, but fails. Not because he can’t, but because he doesn’t believe it should be him.

He never tells anyone but he remembers everything he did as the beast, but more importantly how it felt. He would fear himself more then ever now because of how much a part of him enjoyed the Kill, and how it felt freeing, even though it was wrong. I feel there would have been a real distancing scenario hear, until someone, I vote Toby, snaps him out of it.

And at some point in the climax of the film, Jim decides to accept his fears, and embrace all that he is, beast and all, showing the enemy that saw him as nothing more then Merlin’s pawn, that he is more then what Merlin made him, his divisions his own, his heart his own, and that he was hero for any of it. He also admits to his fears to Douxie, and the two become friends, and then the epic show down happens.

Anyways that is basically a little AU idea I came up with, tell me your thoughts, and whether you would be interning seeing this as a fanfic.

1, we have two versions of Splinter in here. One is Yoshi Hamato, adoptive father of Mikey and April, and a nurse (Barbara). The other is Splinter, Leo's father, the former Trollhunter (Kanjigar).

2, That's gonna be Big Mama! Who else could be a changeling and be in a romantic relationship with the MC's parent, amiright? Her relationship with the twins is more of a cool auntie rather than a mom.

3, Casey's human form is of an older teen, very punk, very Douxie looking. She works as the janitor of the museum, diferent from Nomura's historian tour guide job. Shes a little bit of a cleaning freak. If someone litters inside the museum she will bite and maim and yell. I dont have her ref yet vkdkvks I gotta get back to this au more often.

4, OMG yes oh gosh Hindi is so difficult that would be a disaster, it's canon now. I dont really have a proper ref for her? But I doodle her a lot, so. She has two diferent sets of regular clothes. One looks more like her Rise design of the puffy dress with frills, and other looks more like Claire's fun purple tuxedo. The tall punk demonica boots are always there, so is the tiara and the bazillion hair pins. Maskera on fleek.

5, Leo, upon getting his ass beaten into the next sunday by April and being casted out of Troll Market, stays in her house as Guardian and starts training April (and Mikey) in battle techniques and such. Since there is no need in having Raph taking care of Mikey because Leo can keep an eye on both the human kids at the same time, he isnt there. But, since Leo has a clear preference for being around April, and Mikey and Raph bonded a lot very quickly, Mikey sneaks out a lot to hang out with the big guy, often sneaking him into the house too. Mikey taught Leo how to prank and make puns.

The Time Capsule Au Timeline

I'm still working on this timeline its a very experimental one especially the current one.

The Timeline

The Order creates Earth from 3 Elements. Trolls are created and bore Earth. Humans are created. Then some humans are gifted powers by the Order deeming them Wizards. Wizards are born with long lives.

During the youngest years of Earth, an Akiridion crashes on Earth and is met by a troll named Spar the Spiteful. They fight it out. Even though Trolls consider the title of Trollhunter to exist here it wasn't called that. It wasn't referred to as that. Most records of this time are lost.

Wizards are really found. They discover their magic and bring humans out of the primitive ages.

Wizards discover Dark and Light Arcane magic. They take notes on how to properly use it and lock the information up in an enhanced area called Wizard keep.

Wizards start to die out causing an age of magic to be things to fear and not things to trust. Any Wizards left around were violent due to fear of death or lived in secret. This lead to distrust of magic.

A troll discovers the library and leaks out Dark Arcane magic.

Merlin is born, a young human to an ill and mean mother and Uther and Igerna are two childhood friends.

Merlin discovers his magic, he sets off on a journey with Uther and Igerna. On Their journey they accidentally wake the annoyed order. Merlin is given the Genesis seal by Nari. She says she believes they will meet again but hopes in times of no violence. With help of others they create Camelot where the Genesis seal rests.

Uther becomes corrupted by dark arcane spells and starts to become evil. Igerna supports him. Merlin leaves but leaves the seal hidden in the castle. Igerna has two baby twins but is murdered by an angry citizen who demands a rebellion.

Morgana and Arthur are born. They are both sent away by their father and raised by mages separately. Arthur takes down his corrupted father and becomes King. He saves his sister Morgana from witch hunters and makes her a part of his court but she is never on the same level as him due to humanity's dislike of Arcane arts because of Uther and past events. Merlin becomes Arthur buddy once he returns to help them

Morgana meets Lady Flonesse, they hit it off and are married. They do this in secret because of violence.

Morgana and Arthur build up tension, Arthur is fighting trolls for lands and Morgana is against this violence. It gets worse when more violence is spread. Morgana dives into darker magic and is corrupted by the Order secret spells.

Arthur makes the Knights of the Round Table and meets Lady Morgause. They start to secretly date.

Gunmar is created from violence, as a whelp he meets Morgana who offers him a smart idea to spy on humans.

Morgana creates Changelings and starts to replace babies with them using them as Gunmar spies. She is arrested for such a horrid crime. She is put under trial and will be killed. People who are with her are arrested for suspicion of helping. Lady Flonesse is arrested but proven innocent of any deeds.

Modred is revealed as an ally of Morgana, he fights Arthur and almost kills the king leaving him scared. Morgause is unable to take a side seeing everyone is in the wrong and is forced to become the bad guy.

Morgana and Merlin + Arthur (who is still injured) fight. Morgana loses an arm and is forced to flee where she is found by the Arcane Order. Modred is killed. Morgause is sealed away, but before she is sealed away she reveals she has a child by Arthur from old flings that she left with her handmaiden.

Merlin and Arthur find the handmaiden and meet the baby. The baby is named Douxie and like his mother his magic is strong. Merlin is tasked to raise Douxie. Any information on Morgana, Morgause, and Modred is locked away or burned, they are forgotten.

Douxie grows and becomes powerful like other Wizards before him but still isn't gifted a staff that shows the true talent.

Gunmar corruption leads to trolls being homeless. Gunmar attacks humans. The war is getting so bad that the Order has finally awoken again to destroy humanity due to them seeing humans as the creators of Gunmar.

Merlin creates the Amulet for trolls and it doesn't choose a wielder yet.

Changelings make a rise as they infect Camelot. The most known is leader Strickler.

Morgana returns and aids Gummar into battle getting ready for battle of kilahead.

Deya is found and she is chosen.

The battle of kilahead starts. Gunmar and Morgana are sealed away. Trolls escape and Humans are left to clean up. Humans destroy the bridge with trolls and separate them. Trolls and Humans are parted, they are never seen together again until the time of Jim Lake Jr.

Merlin and Douxie are left injured. Douxie takes Merlin to rest in a tomb that had been known as the Wizards study.

The Order attacked Camelot right after the battle of kilahead. They seek a weapon that lays in Camelot.

Arthur uses the power blessed by the Lady of the Lake to seal away Camelot. From the outside it looks like Camelot is destroyed but truthfully Camelot is now frozen in time.

Douxie returns for Camelot only to be met by "ruins". Douxie mourns but moves on with Archie. He goes on to live his life meeting other Wizards and keeping Humans blind of the truth

Current Day now

Jim and his friends are building a New Jersey Trollmarket. Suddenly they are attacked by the Order. Jim fights Bellroc alone and gets corrupted. He doesn't even know he is secretly a spy. He doesn't know Bellroc can see through his eyes and can control him at any moment they want. Jim continues to aid yet set his friends into traps.

Douxie (in Arcadia) is attacked by the Green Knight who is trying to capture him without hurting him. Merlin immediately steps in and brings Douxie to Trollmarket (also Toby, Steve, and Arrrrgh come because they saw the attack)

Merlin tells them about the Order. He fears they will go to Camelot. Douxie tells him " Camelot is destroyed?" And Merlin spills the truth which makes Douxie angry.

They get to Camelot and are investigated by Arthur but Arthur lets them in. Arthur reveals there is a spy among them and the gang investigate.

Things happen, both the spy and Jim are causing fights and disorders. No one suspects Jim because there should be only one spy.

The Green Knight gets in and it's revealed he is the ghost of Mordred created by the Order. Modred hints at dark seeds already being planted deep in Camelot. He also leaves Douxie with a message to investigate the secrets of his blood.

Douxie goes into forbidden text and not only discovers the truth of his bloodline but of Morgause. Douxie confronts everyone about it and is rightfully angry.

Morgause is unsealed from her prison and adjusts to a new time. Tries to connect to a son that's centuries older than her (like douxie 900 and she was sealed away so he saw more)

Arthur finally lets Merlin into the locked area. The gang traverse a puzzle and eventually find the Genesis seal. Douxie and Merlin watch over it until they can find it a safer hiding spot.

The Traitor is revealed. During the arrest Jim, Toby, and Claire are set guard by the keystone that holds Camelot in time. Merlin realizes that there were two traitors. He remembers Jim fighting Bellroc and immediately gets guards to capture him. It is too late. Jim destroys the Keystone unfreezing Camelot from time and lets the Order in. The people of Camelot fade away

Merlin and Nari face off, Merlin convinces her to side with him. She defects from the Order, feeling the deaths everywhere caused by their dark magic. Douxie flees with the gang (minus Jim, he with the Order as a new Green Knight) with the Genesis Seal, they flee to New Trollmarket to check on the trolls then have to flee to Arcadia to get help from Barbara, Strickler, Krel, Zoë, and the other allies in Arcadia.

(And Lin is definitely a boy. His full given name is Merlin Samuel Casperan. Samuel was his birth name, and Douxie didn’t feel right completely ditching the name when he adopted Lin, so they kept it as his middle name). 

I am dragging you into the Douxie as a Father AU because you are our resident Zoe expert: How would Zoe do with the baby?

Oooooh thank you, lol, I’m honored. Long post incoming lol.

At first, Zoe is a little concerned that Douxie of all people was handed a literal child to take care of because...well, this is Douxie we’re talking about, he’s been known to set things on fire and not think about the consequences. Zoe would always say she doesn’t like kids, mostly because of how they are in, say, her stores(after watching enough display iPads get smashed you’d get a little tired of it). But she can’t walk past a baby in a stroller without smiling and waving and really does have a soft spot for them. Lin is a new challenge she’s willing to tackle, for Douxie’s sake at first but [he? they?] grow on her quickly.

At first she’s probably as frazzled by it as Douxie is, neither of them are necessarily fit to be parents and neither really had great parental figures in their lives. She probably shows up with an armful of parenting books from the library, her glasses, Twizzlers, and a box of black tea.

Zoe has a fairly strong maternal sense, surprising her even, and she’s always paying close attention to whatever the baby is up to or doing and it’s quickly second nature. If you’ve ever seen those photos or videos of parents grabbing children from imminent danger without even hesitating, that’s her. (”Douxie, Lin is literally about to chew on that live wire, I really wouldn’t let him do that if I were you” *Douxie was completely zoned out staring at a wall*)

Zoe sings for the baby. All. The. Time. Neither Douxie or Archie thought she would ever sing this much, or that she knew that many lullabies(she loves singing really old ones). Douxie has to call her up in the middle of the night because he can’t get the baby to fall asleep without a song and he can’t for the life of him remember what ones the baby likes most lately(he’s just too tired).

Zoe is a night owl and can easily change up her sleep schedule to fit around the baby waking up in the middle of the night so Douxie can sleep and still function in the daytime. At this point she’s basically living with them if she isn’t already. 

She loves to talk to Lin like he’s a fully functional human and it drives Douxie a little insane at first because he feels like he’s going crazy between the sleep deprivation and the fact the child acts like they know just what she’s talking about. (Zoe: ”Oh, and Lin, yesterday I was reading in the news that there was this big political conference about climate change, they’re hoping to reduce carbon emissions 25% percent in five years.” Lin: *incoherent baby blabber* Zoe: “I totally agree, it’s gonna be a hard goal to reach. What do you think Nari?” Douxie, who hasn’t slept in two days: “what did he say?”)

Zoe really, really struggles to keep swearing to a minimum around the child because she’s been swearing for hundreds of years and the habit is so ingrained in her very being. She’s begun to pick up on Douxie’s substitutes. (*Lin throws something and it breaks* Zoe: “oh fuuuuuzzbuckets. Yeah. Yep. Fuzzbuckets.”)

I may add more to this in a bit as a reblog, lol, this has given me a million ideas and I am so here for it, I love this so much.

Mordred!Douxie AU

Just some notes on a thought I had last night. opinions on going ahead with it as a full fic

So it starts off where he hasn't heard the name in years

centuries even

that is until the eternal night

"Mordred Pendragon" the whisper in the wind chills him sending a shiver down the gothic wizard's spine but he ignores it

It's not his name

He had been planning to join the main fight in the eternal knights but he doesn't

He's ashamed of how much something so small had affected him

He avoids the source of the voice along with one of the only people capable of reassuring him after something like that

He fights off some gumm gumms he comes across but stays away from the raging magic battle a couple of miles away

It's only when the battle is over and he's made his way home exhausted and covered in dirt that he relaxes, (of course, that is entirely due to the little black fur ball curling on his chest asking what had happened. And using his real name)

Its 2 months after the eternal night when his master summons him, he had gotten so used to the nickname Douxie over the years (mostly due to the mortal struggle with pronouncing his full name) but pushing aside the mild feeling like he was going to get scolded he welcomed being Hisirdoux

The green knight is unfamiliar to him but as the guardians of Arcadia fly away from the burning bookstore he hears it again, a dark growl into the darkness

"Mordred"

Douxie is tense until they reach Merlin's study, Camelot had been the place he called his home since the beginning of his teen years and so he had many good memories there

but so many bad memories to accompany them

Merlin's tower was the only place in the castle he could block ALL of the bad memories as the only place in his childhood where he was ever completely safe

They fall through time and the teens notice how strangely the knights all act around Douxie, especially Lancelot

None of them understands why until they're in the throne room

"What were you doing with a troll, Mordred?"

Douxie has to hide his scowl of disgust as he struggles to come up with a reason that won't get him hurt or the teens

he had to protect them

None of the kids really understand the gravity of how serious it is until Arthur strikes Douxie and Morgana screams at him grabbing him and Claire while Lancelot takes Steve to the barracks and Jim is taken to the dungeons

Merlin being a father, cradling his face to assess/heal some bruising, "Hisirdoux... what happened?"

Douxie doesn't answer and just avoids eye contact hating the feelings bubbling to the surface of fear and shame and self-loathing like he was a child again

Douxie: I slept like a baby.

Zoe: You look like shit.

Douxie: Babies are horrible sleepers.

Single Dad Merlin AU

Sleepless at dawn trying to lull the baby to sleep

This is an AU I have been working for quite a time now, and I think I have not share it with the internet yet. So here you go, I present you: SINGLE DAD MERLIN AU.

In this AU Merlin takes his wing over Douxie and adopts him while he is still a baby. After Gwen’s death, -when Merlin was still young- King Arthur ordered to kill and destroy all the villages accused of witchcraft near Camelot. Among the villages affected was Douxie’s.

Arthur insists on going to check the work of his men, Merlin being his right hand man accompanies him. It is there that he finds Hisirdoux, hidden in a basket in the rubble of what was once his hut.

Merlin decides to take care of the child.

And now he must learn to become a father.

Tales of Arcadia The Giver!AU

Book 22: The Giver by Lois Lowry (#1 in The Giver Quartet)

Content Warning: infanticide, suicide, euthanasia

I’ve got the newer cover of this book and the older one for Gathering Blue. This is very frustrating. But ohohoho. Angst. This won't be as impactful because I'm not aging any of the teens down to twelve year olds, but honestly I think that's better because even as sophomores, the Arcadia Teens have seen enough shit to last them a lifetime. I don't want them to feel even worse seeing some awful things as even younger kids.

Putting this one under the cut due to the content warnings:

We’re calling the society Avalon as opposed to the obvious choice of Arcadia because I said so. Also I think the idea of Arthur being on the Council, trying to form a "perfect society" with the Giver (Merlin) opposing him is an interesting way to shake things up a tad from the TOA canon.

Basically if you don't know The Giver, there's this society that has gotten rid of all pain, fear, war, hatred, and everyone is the same. There are no colors and discussions of deep emotions or difficult topics because there are no difficult topics in this society. Everything is fine and everyone is content.

Jim will be our Jonas.

I feel like either Merlin or Blinky would make a wonderful Giver. I think Merlin being the Giver fits better with his personality and role in TOA itself (and it also leaves room for Douxie and Merlin angst :D)

Onto the main plot:

Jim lives with his mother Barbara, his father Walter, and his younger sibling...who will his younger sibling be...I'll call her Petunia. Y'know. 'Cause she's like a flower? A bag...of flour?

At the ceremony, he given the Assignment of Receiver of Memory and now he's officially an adult.

Jim is freaked out by this huge responsibility on his shoulders because everyone is treating him differently

And so he meets Merlin (now the Giver) and they begin to work through each and every memory so that Jim can advise Avalon.

With every memory and every return back to his house, Jim learns about how Avalon is imperfect and people can't enjoy life because they know nothing of pain. He gets frustrated with Avalon.

I actually think the movie did an excellent job with the war scene and Jonas' reaction to the kids "playing war" so if you want to imagine how Jim is working through his everyday life now, go there.

Walter brings home a baby name Enrique one day from work. They grow close and Jim begins to share some of the memories with Enrique. But after a while, Walter says Enrique has to be released.

Jim tells Merlin this, and Merlin is deeply concerned. He gives Jim the memory of the last "release" he witnessed.

Merlin then tells Jim about the last Receiver, a boy named Douxie. He was Merlin's son and was initially really excited to be the Receiver. He worked through a lot of memories. He wants Avalon to thrive and prosper and to be able to prove to his father that he could handle being the Receiver, but things got incredibly heavy on him and he asked to be released.

I'll stop here since i don't want to spoiler it all (though I have covered most of it). I highly recommend giving this a read. It's one of my favorite books.

Au where Merlin doesn't take a 900 year nap and instead he and Douxie protect Arcadia together secretly and wizard dad and wizard son shenanigans ensue.

Merlin being aware that the amulet chose a human and Vendel comes to the bookstore one night to yell at him about why he chose a CHILD to be the Trollhunter and that its a mistake and Merlin gives him this deadpan stare and says, "I don't make mistakes. I never made a mistake choosing the Trollhunter before, why do you doubt me now?"

And Vendel goes home grumbling to himself about how stupid this is.

And then Merlin looks at Douxie who's watching nearby and says, "Next time I let you pick the Trollhunter and Vendel gets mad about who it is, I'm not covering for you."

So yeah.

Because they made the amulet together I firmly believe that in this au that Douxie gets input about who the Trollhunter is/they make that decision together. You know, just your average fun father/son bonding stuff.

But no one else knows Douxie helped make it. So yeah.

In my own hc for this au I think that after a Trollhunter dies Merlin and Douxie will do this thing where they search for who the next Trollhunter will be but through magical means like, they do a spell and are looking for people who have specific qualifications personality and moral wise.

It's like they're able to briefly sense the goodness in a person's soul and that's sort of how they choose. Its also an instinct thing I guess.

I dunno I just love this idea
