I love this genre of anime/manga where is basically characters getting to know each other and making meaninful friendships. Like, I love romance but there's something about wholesome and well written platonic relationships that is always so refreshing to me

hai so here a random thing i literally just realized

okay um last-last month i finished the entire Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue anime

...cuz i wanted to (it has cats. what else do i need to know that may influence whether i watch it or not)

and um minor spoilers here but Subaru's neighbor has a dog named Taro

you know who else had a dog named Taro????

KENTO HINODE (from Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu)

um so now i'm thinking they're related because of the dog (even though Doukyounin doesn't really take place in a specific city while Nakineko's in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture)

so yeah the author (who has a very difficult time socializing because well he pretty much never goes to the outside world)'s neighbor may or may not have a son/grandson who has a girlfriend that used to be able to turn into a cat

Oh, hey, this one is great! And super cute!

Also, I remember it left a good impression on me of being "realistic", in a sense that... well, we can hear the inner thoughts of the cats, and they talk to each other, but it doesn't feel too anthropomorphized, if that makes sense. Like, the cats have their own perspective of the world.

when thinking about iyashikei there are two that pop up in my mind, they are Natsume Yuujinchou and Mushishi. I need some iyashikei manga and anime from time to time to keep me somewhat sane in between. Here are some iyashikei anime/manga I enjoy (not in particular order)~

夏目友人帳 Natsume Yuujinchou

slow and beautiful, maybe I will rewatch this when I have some relaxing time, or read the manga.

ばらかもん Barakamon

Though it's been so long I don't really remember, I feel that I had fun watching Barakamon~! I might rewatch it soon or start reading the manga when I need something chill and heartwarming, and maybe, a little push to move forward.

君と僕。Kimi to Boku.

School-setting story of 5 boys that has iyashikei mood~! I like all of them (I like twins yuta-yuki the most) and I remember I enjoyed watching their stories long time ago. Heartwarming, funny, seishun!! I want to read Kimi to Boku manga soon, since this series has ended I want to know how their story continue, also I kind of miss them 🥺

しろくまカフェ Shirokuma Café

when I was about to watch this I thought whoa this series is long, can I keep watching this till the end. But then I watched it everyday and enjoyed it quite much~! Shirokuma Cafe has many characters and some of them are fun to watch. Panda is so adorable~ it caught me off-guard at that one sad episode of panda, I didn't expect there would be sad moment too.

田中くんはいつもけだるげ Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge

I wish I can be like Tanaka-kun 🥲 I enjoyed reading Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge quite a lot. It's calming and fun, likable characters (Tanaka-kun blessed with good friends) and nice moments. I actually wish for Tanaka and Shiraishi to be together as a couple by the end of manga 🥺 I want more of them~

同居人はひざ、時々、頭のうえ。Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue.

I watched this at the beginning of this year, thinking 'let's see some cuteness of cat and human' but what I got was a heartwarming story ; ; I want to read the manga soon (hopefully)~ Subaru's parents are really nice ;__; I got inspired by Subaru's mom ⁠—those plants in their home garden, seeds from various places they visited on holiday, it's really great, I wish I can do that someday.

That's all for now, I guess. There are few iyashikei I want to try watching but haven't yet >< (so many on my list to watch and read) Hope we will have more heartwarming iyashikei works to enjoy, that may become a little healing to get through the day. I hope I can read more watch more this year~ with my own pace.

Anime recs! :o I have a few. Though it's been awhile since I last watched em but I can remember the general stories of each.

Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue [My roommate is a cat] (I adore this one especially, cats! And a pretty nice story.)

Miira no Kaikata (This one has a cute lil chibi mummy)

Mikakunin de Shinkoukei (This one, I don't remember much bout it as well but I remember it being a romcom slice of life.)

Bofuri (This one is fairly popular :D)

Naka no Hito Genome (This one is like… a survival game situation of sorts? It's mystery genre. I can't remember much bout this one but I know I quite liked it :o)

Runway de Waratte (Not sure if you'll like this one but I'm still reccing it! It's an anime about a guy that wants to be a fashion designer and a short girl that wants to be a model. It's a pretty sad story cuz of how the two struggles a lot... The title, Smile down the runway, is a lie it's a drama genre oomph.)

Kyoukai no Kanata (I love this one! One of my faves. It pulled me in with lighthearted scenes and comedy only to smack me in the face with action and sadness.)

My taste is all over the place, though I mostly watch slice of life cuz of how lighthearted it is (though sometimes it'll betray me with sadness anyway...) I have a couple more but here are ones I'd love to recc :D
