Remembering Doug Ingle 1945-2024
Musician Doug Ingle has died at 78. He was the vocalist and organ-player in Iron Butterfly from 1966–1971, 1978–79, 1983–1985, 1987–88, and 1994–1999. The psychedelic rock band got big in the 60s thanks to their 1968 hit “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”, a 17 minute epic (the radio version was heavily edited) that Ingle wrote. I also liked Slayer’s cover of it on the Less Than Zero soundtrack. The original song has appeared on numerous soundtracks including Manhunter, The Wonder Years, Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare and in a funny episode of The Simpsons.
This news comes only a few years after drummer Ron Bushey died in 2021.
