Thinking about how in don't look up the only times we see the police mobilized is to suppress civil unrest due to government failure and abandonment. It was such a minor background thing but that's what stuck with me the most.

Every single election, when I hear the millions of fucking ads, get tons of the flyers, I think to myself these people are spending billions of dollars that they could have used to save people but instead they're using it to try to gain more power. How does that ever make them good people? Think about that. I want to be the president so I can help save people but instead of saving people right now with my money I'm going to spend it on ads so people will know that I deserve to be president? You know what? I would vote for the person who didn't advertise at all and actually did save lives with their money. But that's never going to happen. Not even fucking Stein does that.

I honestly think Don't Look Up is a masterpiece and no one can convince me otherwise

From the denial of reality and the way it portrays how we as a society prefer to ignore and adapt and distract with things that are literally nonsense and doesn't matter rather than take a stand or properly study and understand something or face reality, to the way it portrays how people (men especially) will excuse any type of behavior with "it's a different generation" or laugh along when the jokes aren't funny or brand female rage and emotion as "psychotic" - all of it is just spot on

I fucking love that movie because it is one of the best portrayals of what humanity and society is actually, currently like

It's supposed to be satire, but it actually isn't, which is what makes it satirical. We've seen first hand how people and society will literally do this, time and again, regarding any big issues they face

The way humans are portrayed is sad and frustrating and disappointing and gruesome. They only care about themselves, their egos and the patriarchy drive decisions and behavior, and it's all inherently based on greed and powertrips and ignorance and self-serving purposes.

Honestly the best portrayal of society, politics and governments as a whole in todays world I've ever seen in a god damn movie.
