Unfinished ODDTAXI Business

When ODDTAXI ended back in 2021, there were speculations that the girl in the clinic was supposed to be Ichimura.

I had to disagree:

And to be absolutely sure that it’s her...

So in the Gartic Game in the OddTaxi server, there were a lot of joke images for some of the characters to become NFT's due to the latest trends on it. As joke art, I did all the monkey's in the series along with the Mystery Kiss gang since I think Yamamoto would sell NFT's to people. This post will contain all the monkeys as NFT's and the next post will contain the Mystery Kiss Gang so stay tune.

Completely understandable. Although kids? Don’t get shot in real life for the lulz.

(Spoilers ahead..?)

Not much to report for me this episode, although I will say that I’m amazed Tanaka’s phone still has juice in it. Have you tried using GPS and Data at the same time? Drains your battery like hell (but then again... the screen isn’t on).

What I will say though, is I’m amazed at how interconnected the episodes are.

I was initially trying to see if it was possible to establish a timeline between last episode and this episode (because again, I’m amazed at the phone battery!!) and it surprised me that you kinda could. Last episode, the girls needed to be picked by 7 PM (because the manager said it explicitly), and you know the phone was left before then. By the end of the episode, Ichimura (omfg I just realized that Mystery Kiss members are literally Ichimura, Nikaido, and Mitsuya - 1-2-3! XD) was on a date with Kakihana, and she showed her phone that says 19:12 - which means at least a day has passed.

Anyway. Interconnected episodes.

Because of the timeline thing, I decided to watch episode 1 again, and boy oh boy. Remember Tanaka bidding (Episode 4) for the Donraku Eraser all those years ago?

(Well, it’s Odokawa’s now... which means LOL Tanaka has another reason to kill him, haha poor guy ^^; )

Man. I keep loving this series more and more. I’m not gonna bother seeing all the callbacks yet, but I definitely plan to re-watch all the episodes once it’s done airing. I feel like there’s more to discover (and that more of the scenes will make more sense).

Today in random Odd Taxi speculation that’s probably never gonna get confirmed.

So I could honestly be overthinking this big time but there were two points that were not really picked up on in the finale (which is fine, honestly, there was a lot to fit in and all the key points did get hit) and I was wondering whether they were set up and just had to be cut for time and because they were less relevant to the main plot.

1) It was mentioned several times that Donraku was originally going to judge the N-1 competition Shibagaki and Baba were performing in until he had to step down because he found out about Yuki.

2) Episode 12 had Shibagaki finally snap at Baba on stage during their performance where it looked like they were finally going to have it out. However, in episode 13, we skipped right to Bonnou Illumination getting through with no real mention of what happened during the Homosapiens’ performance.

Now, Donraku mentioned in his audiodrama episode (8.8) that he cared about performances that were “real”.

If you put all this together, you get the implication that if Donraku had been the judge and Shibagaki and Baba had continued their legitimate confrontation on the stage, they would have gotten through to the final instead of Bonnou Illumination.

Of course, Donraku was never going to judge when he’d just found out his daughter had died and so the Homosapiens were never going to get through to the final, but their “act” could have been something he’d seen on TV to inspire him and remind him of why he performed himself. It would have also simultaneously given a more emotional send-off to the Homosapiens instead of the odd gap left between where we left their performance and finding out they’d been sent off. Then after that they would have then gone into their last proper scene by the water.

Semi-related, but there’s another neat audiodrama tie-in here in that Nagashima mentions in ep 5.6 that he feels that the Homosapiens have gotten too caught up in “making routines for use in competitions” and so “lost sight of their uniqueness”. He also mentions that Shibagaki “was so used to winning he didn’t know how to make fun of himself”.

So, by their last last scene, after the Homosapiens have lost, they go back to their roots so they no longer have that focus on competition routines and winning. The comedy festival they’re at is almost empty, they’re just there to do comedy together without thinking of “winning”.
