Luang Phor Im, the First Abbot of Wat Hua Khao, Suphan Buri Province, living between BE 2406 to BE 2480 (CE 1863 to CE 1937).

Luang Phor Im was born on June 1, BE 2506 in the reign of King Mongkut (King Rama IV) of Bangkok. Luang Phor Im ordained as Buddhist monk around BE 2526 (CE 1983). Luang Phor Im spent his early monkhood on pilgrimage, and later stopped at Hua Khao, Doem Bang Nang Buat District, Suphan Buri Province. Luang Phor Im loved this area and decided to have his own monastery there. The villagers supported the idea of Luang Phor Im and helped Luang Phor Im to build the Wat Hua Khao temple, and Luang Phor Im was the first abbot of Wat Hua Khao. Luang Phor Im was a Saha Thammik (an alliance of the same Buddhist path), and Looksit (disciple) of the Holy Luang Phu Suk of Wat Pak Khlong Makham Thao, and Luang Phor Im was master (teacher) of Luang Phor Mui of Wat Don Rai, Luang Phor Pui of Wat Koh, Luang Phu Kaak of Wat Hua Khao, Luang Phor Song of Wat Sala Din, and Luang Phor Im was highly respected by Luang Phor Parn of Wat Bang Nom Kho  (Wat Bang Nom Kho Pan Uthit)

One of the Tamil movies I remember watching as a child was a recreation of the British colonialism period in India, this one scene: people of the film's main town were aware that British soldiers were arriving and just masses of the native women decided to don white sarees and commit mass suicide by literally jumping off a cliff edge- because they'd heard of the merciless rapes and enforced prostitution of women in other towns. I remember asking my mother why they did that and my mother answering as delicately as possible, but only as an adult did I comprehend it. I remember literally nothing else about the movie.

I saw a tiktok yesterday from a very well spoken woman on what happens to women when society breaks down. She talked about the only thing stopping men in a civilized society from doing what they want to women at large is the small, small chance that there will be repercussions and that without that threat, they rape and brutalize freely. She talked about how, in her experience as a humanitarian aid worker, she and her peers were told that if they were taken, the men would be killed and the women would wish they had been. In the comments women talked about apocalyptic movies that touched on this, with the line “we promised them women,” from 28 days later. And another where a woman was paid as a toll to allow a group to carry on. Another real life scenario where a woman was passed around a large group of soldiers. Women in the comments say that they’d prefer to die first in a disaster scenario, but worry that their bodies wouldn’t be safe either. I think of that “joke” post from a guy implying that if he were in the titanic submersible and knew everyone was going to die, he would rape whatever women were near him. I think about how I would protect myself if I found myself in that situation, or how I would protect my mother, and I couldn’t because there are so many evil men. It’s had me fucked up since I saw it and also had me reflecting on how insane it is that men are so evil to women and women can’t even acknowledge it, can’t say that they don’t like men, can’t set the very reasonable boundary of saying I don’t want to be around men. Men scare me, men are dangerous.
