Meet Zarya!
Content Warnings: dogs, climate grief, COVID mismanagements
Was on the fence about taking in another animal due to climate catastrophe and COVID travel restrictions, then pondered about adopting a heeler.
Originally was going to adopt a red heeler named Lady thirteen years ago. At the time Vancouver transit only allowed dogs which could fit into crates under seats. (Rule now has changed so the crate must sit on the person's lap, sadly!) Revisited the abandoned plan (from 6 - 7 years ago) of thru-hiking the Great Divide Trail (and Norge på Langs!). Maybe a bit of packrafting [video] and bikepacking [video]. Then decided having a partner for the GDT would be awesome. A friend offered a Norrbottenspets pup, but then someone close to me, who is a Golden Retriever aficionado, said something one night. Paused.
Asked a few friends of a mutual about waiting lists for working-line Golden Retrievers. Their dogs tend to have a lighter frame. A month or two later, found a year-old blue heeler named Bit in need of a new home. Friendly with horses and cats. Perfect. Waited for permission from bestie.
Found out a lot of working dogs are not built for putting on mileage. Meandered around on trying to find distance-bred strains: kelpies, Alaskan sled-dogs, racing Siberian sled-dogs, hunting laikas etc. One of my favourite scene [video] from Happy People: A Year in the Taiga, where Anatoly's dog ran alongside the snowmobile for 150 kilometres. Fell down a YouTube rabbit-hole [video].
Missed my old pal Pavel, the West Siberian Laika, terribly. Even though Pavel was fiercely independent and would never be a trainer's dog, he always knew what to do in every situation and could be trusted to make his own choices. That dog had rock-solid judgement calls. He taught me a lot about building trust and developing deep mutual friendship. But then the same friend who offered the Norrbottenspets found a WSL litter! Now there is a new pup named Zarya. Her name was previously Bella. Check out Zarya's Tumblr! She is also present on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube!
If you wish to help out with Zarya, please feel free to contribute to the puppy fund on PayPal!

How to Pack Accessories for a Long Trip with Your Dog
For cheap and best Dog Products - https://dogiclub.com/
When planning a long trip with your dog, it’s important to ensure that both you and your furry companion are comfortable and well-prepared. One of the key steps in making your journey a smooth and enjoyable experience is packing the right accessories for your dog. Here’s a guide on how to pack effectively for a long trip with your four-legged friend.
1. Choose the Right Travel Carrier The first thing you need to pack is a safe and comfortable travel carrier. Whether your dog will be traveling in the car or by plane, a sturdy and well-ventilated carrier is essential. Make sure the carrier is big enough for your dog to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably. You can also consider a travel harness or seat belt attachment for added security when driving.
2. Pack Essential Food and Water Supplies Your dog’s diet should remain consistent while traveling, so pack enough food for the entire trip, along with any necessary bowls or feeders. A collapsible food and water bowl is a great space-saving option. It’s also advisable to pack treats and a few snacks to keep your dog satisfied and happy during rest stops or layovers.
3. Don’t Forget the Medications and Health Supplies If your dog requires any medication, ensure you have a sufficient supply for the entire trip. In addition to medications, pack your dog’s health records and vaccination certificates, especially if you're traveling internationally or to a new destination. Flea and tick prevention, as well as any grooming products, are also important to keep your dog feeling fresh and comfortable.
4. Bring Comfort Items Packing some of your dog’s favorite comfort items can help reduce stress during the trip. This could include a favorite blanket, toy, or chew items. Familiar scents can be soothing and provide your dog with a sense of security during long hours of travel.
5. Consider Outdoor Gear for Exploration If you plan to explore outdoor areas, don’t forget to pack your dog’s leash, harness, and waste bags. A reflective collar or vest can be a good safety precaution, especially if you’ll be walking your dog at night. Always carry extra waste bags to clean up after your pet.
By following these tips and packing the necessary accessories, you can ensure a safe, enjoyable, and stress-free long trip for both you and your dog.

Booties and Mileages
In the thru-hiking communities, there is a general formula how often shoes need to be replaced (every 300 - 500 mi or 500 - 800 km) and mailed in advance to supply drops. Is there a similar rule of thumb or mathematical formula for dog booties? Thanks. Preparing for the Great Divide Trail thru-hike which is 1 130 km (700 mi) long. There's about 6 resupply points with the longest stretch being two weeks or 300 km inbetween. Can always mail the surplus back home.

Following the Mr. Beast drama is tiring. Because everyone's fighting over who said this or what and like. The line was drawn when Mr. Beast got chummy with Gary Vee. The line was drawn years ago.
#All he's been for years is a soulless corporate face#interested in only profit#and that should've been obvious when he chummied up to Gary Vee#when he started a fast food branch#when he made lunchly#ESPECIALLY LUNCHLY#the way it was advertised as a “healthy” alternative to lunchables for kids#and then it comes out and besides it being an obvious cash grab marketed towards children#it's a health hazard#Mr. Beast is a piece of shit and has been a piece of shit long before Dogpack opened his mouth

It’s not just a “dog”, it’s a commitment, a learning experience, a treasure, a reason to love, a reason to get up in the morning, a reason to smile, a reason to stay motivated, a support system, an adventure pal, a garbage disposal, a very good kisser, a gift, a “world”. . #dog

Anyway some new updates on the Beast situation were made. Not going into specifics but a few of the things Dogpack was going into were either fabricated or slightly manipulated. Obviously this doesn't change what Jimmy did is still shady
Yeah, I've been seeing people saying that, so I'm guessing this is about SoggyCereal's 90-minute video "exposing" DogPack from 4 days ago.
But having seen the video, I think it is itself ridiculously manipulative in a lot of ways, and as of right now I'm hesitant to consider the source trustworthy.
In the final third of the video Soggy flies out to America and goes to MrBeast HQ in North Carolina to conduct some interviews with current employees who used to work with DogPack. He also later admitted that a MrBeast employee paid for his international flight.
These interviews take place in a room at MrBeast HQ, with people who are currently working for the company.
In other words, SoggyCereal contacted MrBeast and requested an interview with employees who worked with DogPack for his YouTube video responding to DogPack's specific talking points and calling him a liar for an hour and a half.
So, MrBeast prepared an interview space in their headquarters (with professional lighting, sound, and cameras all set up) and hand-picked some of their current employees to give pre-prepared anecdotal evidence that they thought DogPack was a douche who made them uncomfortable, and then heavily-edited snippets of these interviews featured in the video.
Soggy did an interview himself the next day (it's also where he revealed his flight was paid for) where he insisted that these employees weren't selected and the interviews were fully unbiased and unprepared, but that is impossible to believe. As far as I'm concerned, this entire portion of the video can't be trusted.
But unsurprisingly, MrBeast has been pushing this video like crazy. Multiple drama YouTubers (including Pyrocynical and Spill Sesh) have revealed that Jimmy had personally messaged them with a link to the video, and encouraged them to cover it.
People have been theorising that this whole thing is part of a ploy by the MrBeast company, who knew that this positive video was being made. The suspicion is that the MrBeast company had employees reach out to SoggyCereal and supply him with "evidence" that discredits and slanders DogPack.
He even managed to get a hold of the full audio recording of DogPack being fired, where he begs for his job back. He presents this as proof that DogPack is a disgruntled employee, like what MrBeast's PR team have been implying.
Okay, but like... how in the hell would he gain access to that kind of sensitive information? He doesn't cite any kind of source, he doesn't even claim it was an anonymous leak. He also gives a lot of other very specific behind-the-scenes information that disprove various individual claims made by DogPack, even claims that were mentioned for like five seconds in DogPack's original video.
In contrast, Coffeezilla, who was making a video on the allegation that Jimmy has been conducting fraudulent crypto scams (it came out 5 days ago), reached out to MrBeast repeatedly to fact-check, and MrBeast refused to reply, other than with a single statement from their legal team. MrBeast hasn't responded to any other allegation publicly. And yet SoggyCereal suddenly has access to a mountain of insider information and full cooperation from MrBeast. It seems likely they're using SoggyCereal as a mouthpiece to slander DogPack while avoiding making any kind of statement themselves.
Jimmy also commented on SoggyCereal's video itself on the day it was first posted, even though it still only had a couple thousand views at the time.
He later deleted that comment, because it's just a terrible look, and supports what we already knew: that Jimmy was well-aware that this video was about to come out.
There are legitimate reasons to criticise DogPack, as he has made serious errors over the course of this drama, a lot of which he has acknowledged (including the James Warren thing, which he was rightfully criticised for heavily).
And this video shouldn't be discounted in its entirety, as it has raised some questions about DogPack. It does expose some worrying factual inaccuracies in the major accusations, and does seemingly expose some shady behaviour on his part. So, those points are valid (although I do consider the way Soggy presents them as manipulative).
But people have been saying (mostly in clickbait titles) that this somehow exonerates MrBeast, when that couldn't be further from the truth. That's just how drama YouTube works. To get people's attention, there has to be a hero and a villain. Either everything DogPack and Rosanna say is true, or nothing is and they should burn in hell. There is no middle ground.
As it stands, take any of the clickbait tweets, videos and articles saying anything has changed with a grain of salt.
That's all this is: clickbait.
In my opinion, the situation hasn't changed significantly. The main takeaway is that MrBeast is even more desparate than we thought.

just so it's clear: there is no actual evidence from credible sources implicating karl jacobs specifically in any illegal activity.
there is evidence that he was in the group chat - so was everyone else working for mrbeast at the time, it was a work group chat. he is one of two deleted users with an identical color.
here's another person who was in the group chat confirming it was a work chat, taken directly from dogpack's twitter:
dogpack, rosanna, all of the other main whistleblowers, do not even once mention karl in their tweets. they are all focused on mrbeast and ava. any individual claims about karl come from uninvolved third parties.
obligatory disclaimer: i don't even like karl jacobs. in fact, i've had a personal dislike for him since 2021 for unrelated reasons. i have literally zero reason to be biased in his favor here

about halfway through the mrbeast oompaville video and it kinda fucking sucks. I still think the perspective deserves a fair chance, but I do believe jimmy choosing oompa, someone who does basic commentary recap and not as much interview content, was a very calculated move. oompa doesn't push back at jimmy or challenge his half assed responses, especially about crypto schemes. (that jimmy has shown full knowledge and understanding of in the past, but now suddenly has no clue how crypto works bc he's "just a dumb youtuber" ????) it's not really his fault because, again, he is NOT a journalist trained to do this, but that's very evident.
I do believe dogpack and rosina greatly mishandled this whole situation by making serious claims and then eventually treating it like gossipy drama. I do believe there are things that jimmy, his friends, and his company did not do. but this video doesn't exonerate him the way many people want it to, and the choice of a popular creator over a credited one is evident.
I like oompa and watch him from time to time, but in all his videos it's very clear to tell when he is out of his element, and it's very obvious that jimmy is being very particular and planned with who he speaks to and how he presents himself.
