He's a bounty hunter. He's into DnD. He somehow doesn't know about cosplay or how to improv despite this. He CAN dance. He fell for the Doctor so hard the only coherent thought in his head under stress was proposing to them. Within the hour he'd kissed them, sacrificed himself, and said "find me" after making them catch a goddamn marriage bouquet. He's a nerd. He's socially awkward. He listens to Kylie Minogue. He's a sweetheart. He's a Killer. He's engaged to the Doctor. He is the moment. He is the Rogue.
ruby. ruby it is of the upmost importance that we go see spring awakening on broadway RIGHT now. the original cast. it's essential to our mission, it will provide us with intel- no, no it's not because jonathan groff has his ass out onstage, shut up, ruby we're wasting time-
The first outright not-a-joke or “one sided” gay kiss the doctor themselves has had in doctor who history happening during pride month AND with an interacial couple has me feeling so many things 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🎉
What if Rogue is actually part of the pantheon but decided to leave bc he fell in love with a mortal (the person he lost) and decided he likes them better than the Gods? that fits with the name Rogue, like "a Rogue God who left to live between mortals" (I know the name came from dnd and there might be some reference to dnd deities to be made here but I don't know them).
Also that would explain why Sutekh groaned at him. Sutekh only groaned 3 times (not counting the last one before he showed himself), when the TARDIS landed in the edge of the universe (where the Doctor later did the thing that set the Gods free), after Maestro used music to mess with the TARDIS, and when Rogue was inside the TARDIS. So it feels personal.
Okay but like the way that the Doctor just hands the sonic to Rogue without really thinking about it and then clearly regrets it 2 seconds later as Rogue is apparently about to kill him, homeboy was down BAD
This episode has sent me insane enough to get over my fear of painting hands. I can't stop thinking about this shot. You see, the thing about it, is that it's a sunrise. They could easily have chosen to shoot this scene inside the tardis, but no. It was outside as dawn breaks and the doctor puts Rogue's ring on with the rising sun behind. Is this suggesting rouge will come back and we are at the beginning of that story? Or perhaps this way of the doctor behaving romantically is also only just beginning. Much to think about either way.
The fact Rogue didn't push the button while kissing the Doctor. It would have been so easy. In character for what the Doctor might expect even. He's the Rogue after all, the classic morally dubious role.
I think with that quiet 'no' the Doctor was expecting him, maybe even asking him, to take the decision out of their hands. To press it for them. Then they'd both have the fresh pain of losing someone and could go on to travel together.
But the Rogue isn't into cosplay, he isn't playing a character. So instead he puts the Doctor's happiness with Ruby above his own life, and above a life with the Doctor. He pushes Ruby out of the way, taking the controller with him so the Doctor still doesn't have to choose. That sad, cheeky, rogue-ish grin as he does it. Its just so unbearably sweet
having your gay ship flirt and kiss on the first episode they met plus the promise of more of them instead of having to wait years for ANYTHING to happen (and not being 100% sure it will actually happen) feels sooo nice
now they can stop saying that the ''will they won't they'' makes people keep watching
no bitch, having them actually openly show their feelings with no ambiguity makes me want MORE of it, because it does not come with the usual anxiety of wondering if I'm being queerbaited again
