A new study has found that people who are clumsy are more likely to have certain genetic mutations.

The study, published in the journal PLOS ONE, looked at the genetic data of more than 4,000 people from the UK Biobank. The participants were asked about their level of clumsiness, and the researchers found that those who reported being more clumsy were more likely to have certain genetic mutations.

One of the mutations was in a gene called DOCK4, which has been linked to motor control and coordination. The other mutation was in a gene called CNTNAP2, which has been linked to autism and intellectual disability.

The study's lead author, Dr. Simon Fisher, said that the findings suggest that there may be a common underlying cause for both clumsiness and these other conditions. "This is the first study to suggest that genes associated with autism and intellectual disability may also contribute to clumsiness," he said. "The findings add to our growing understanding of the complex genetic basis of human traits and behaviours."

The study's findings are in line with previous research that has found a link between clumsiness and autism. A study published in the journal Autism Research in 2016 found that people with autism are more likely to be clumsy. And a study published in the journal Developmental Medicine & Child Neurology in 2017 found that children with autism are more likely to have problems with motor skills and coordination.

While the new study found an association between clumsiness and certain genetic mutations, it did not find that the mutations cause clumsiness. The study's authors say that more research is needed to understand the relationship between the mutations and clumsiness.

Auch in diesem Sommer wird es das berühmte Open Air Kino in Kassel geben, das auf dem Hof des Dock 4 sein Quartier aufgebaut hat. Zwar unter aus nachvollziehbaren Gründen etwas anderen Umständen, aber fact of the matter ist, dass Cineasten auch 2020 trotz Corona ihre Anlaufstelle in Kassel haben. Die Sitzplätze sind von den sonst üblichen 600 auf 145 reduziert worden, sodass das Open Air Kino den aktuellen Regelungen bezüglich Abstand und Hygiene entsprechen kann. "Unter diesen Umständen ist ein wirtschaftlich rentabler Betrieb des Open-Air-Kinos sehr schwierig." heißt es auf der Website der Veranstalter, trotzdem wolle man "aufgrund der enormen Solidarität und Hilfsbereitschaft", die man "in den letzten Monaten erfahren habe" den Kasseler Filmfans diese einzigartige Form der Filmkunst dennoch zur Verfügung stellen.
