Yooooooo, you write fan fictions, don't you? Halloween is, like, right over there *points*. would you be willing to do one of mhin taking sparrow ghost hunting? and maybe even having a "guest appearance" of a certain shadow manipulator?
if this has already been done, could you point me in the right direction?
thank you~
I've never seen a fic like that but omg. This is such a brilliant idea, I love how all the pieces come together so perfectly–Vere being said to be responsible for his fair share of local ghost stories, mentions of Mhin and haunted houses in the Uquiz results… Premium thoughts. I had a lot of fun writing this, ty for giving me the prompt!! :>
It took a couple of extra days but it's also longer (~2900 words) so hopefully that makes up for it. p.s sorry if u meant it to be more gen bc I wrote romantic pining lol Volume Warning! Ambiance (~BEAUTIFUL FOX NOISES) for y'all /j
Cold Spots
You pull your cloak tighter around yourself, sheltering your remaining body heat from the howling wind.
You ignore the shiver that creeps down your spine.
You’ve been warned that the night is chilly in Eridia at this time of year, but you haven’t quite scraped together enough coin to afford more layers. So you huddle closer to the swaying lamplight of the Wet Wick, attempting to leech warmth from the cheery (if occasionally overwhelming) atmosphere of the bar. You’re on edge, wary about straying too far from the Wick’s affable open doors and the balmy light spilling out of them.
You crane your neck to peer as far as you can around the corner without moving, eyeing the myriad of nearby alleyways, all full to the brim with shadows, searching for a familiar splash of moonlight and blue sweeping through the night.
That’s when you feel eyes on your back.
You freeze, all of your senses on high alert.
“You’re where I asked you to be.” Mhin says in lieu of a greeting. You startle, reeling around to face them. Even when you're expecting them, they have the uncanny ability of sneaking up on you.
“You say that like you’re surprised.” You chide, in mock affront. “You’ll notice that I’m also on time.” Your giddiness shows on your face, a smile tugging at your lips.
“Don’t act so pleased with yourself,” they snipe while rolling their eyes, “for anyone else, that’s the bare minimum.” They frown, looking you up and down with their arms tightly crossed. “...Is that what you’re wearing?”
Any further quips you have for them die in your mouth, drowned out by nervous chuckling. You realize they must be asking (in their own way) if you’re not going to get too cold. You know you could just ask Leander or Kuras for some seasonally appropriate attire but you’d rather not rely on further charity if you can’t help it. Hence: “I’m, um, warm blooded?” You mean to inject an appropriate amount of bravado into your voice, but it comes out as more of a question.
Mhin sighs, long eyelashes brushing their cheeks as they close their eyes for one long moment. “Sometimes I wonder… Fine. Let’s just get going.”
The floorboards shriek beneath your feet as you step across the threshold. The entire shack seems to groan and sway, protesting audibly against the wind. You stick close to Mhin’s back as they hold their gas lamp up, casting an eerie glow about the interior of the abandoned building. Their keen eyes do a quick sweep before they nod decisively and usher you inside with a single precise motion.
The bellow of the wind sounds almost like a scream as the door shuts behind you.
“So, what are we looking for, exactly?” Your voice comes out hushed, the haunting atmosphere insisting that you behave accordingly.
“Likely nothing.” Mhin responds. “Actual ghost sightings are very rare. And of those, few recorded instances come from trustworthy sources. People in Eridia can be quite superstitious. Count on rats or other pests. It’s more plausible that this is a mere infestation rather than–”
The roof above your heads gives a long, low creeaaaak.
You both pause for a beat, listening to silence.
“How would we know if it's a real ghost?” You ask, more out of curiosity than anything. You’re not about to waste the opportunity, if Mhin is willing to keep talking.
“Depends on the type of ghost.” Another protest from the floorboards as Mhin wanders further into the dark. Since you don’t have a lantern of your own, you have no choice but to follow close behind. Unless you want to stumble around with nothing but the shatters of dusty moonlight cast through the cracked windows to guide your way.
Mhin and you make a quick round of the small building, finding it mostly empty, only a few pieces of broken furniture left behind. You draw closer to the back wall, carefully avoiding moth-eaten curtains, heeding Mhin’s warning about a small step. Based on the layout, you think this place might have been a bar or entertainment hall of some sort. You imagine it had a nice, cozy parlor at one time, though now it’s fallen into squalor. As Mhin examines the walls for signs of pests and other clues, you examine the graffiti strewn across them: crude jokes and lewd drawings, mostly. Some scattered names, belonging to people and gangs you’ve never heard of before.
Framed in the center, though, there's a huge riot of colorful paint. An abstract painting with no proper canvas. It's beautiful, somehow, though hauntingly morose. The artist has contained their work in a neat square, not a single streak of color escaping the precisely imposed prison. You’re not sure what the intent of the artist was choosing somewhere like this to display it…
“Is there a type of ghost that makes artwork?” You wonder aloud. You almost wish that Mhin would hand you the lantern so you can get a better look.
Mhin clicks their tongue, sparing barely a glance toward the makeshift painting. “I wouldn't define that as art.” Mhin follows the line of the wall to the corner, their lantern held up to the wall. “That’s just…paint. If you’re looking for ghosts, try looking for scratch marks. Those are a possible indicator, though not always a reliable one. A sudden feeling of hot, or cold–any otherwise unexplainable temperature change. A strange odor…”
You give the air a sniff. “...I don’t smell anything. Do you?”
“Dust. Rotting wood. And you’ve stopped using Leander’s bath soaps, which I’ll commend you for. Why anybody would want to smell that strongly of–” Mhin stops and gives a short whiff, their mouth slightly parted. Their brows furrow. “It is unusual…I don't see or smell any signs of rats or roaches. No vultures either…”
“Maybe something else scared them away?” You posit. You shuffle closer to Mhin, not liking the way the shadows around you seem to flow and ebb the longer you look at them, your mind making up shapes. There’s a silly part of you that wants to feel Mhin’s cloak between your bandaged fingers as reassurance that they’ll stay close. They’d probably hate to know that you see them as something to cling to–a source of comfort, safety.
You try to take another step closer to further dampen your trepidation, but instead you trip over– something–and stumble directly into Mhin. They catch you on impulse, strong and quick enough to steady you with one arm while holding the lantern with the other. You breathe an apology, your lips bumping against their chin as they help you get your feet back under you.
You both search the ground to determine what knocked you off your balance.
It's a dirty old rug, rucked up at one edge.
A long line of what appears to be claw marks lies half uncovered below it. Mhin kneels beside the marks, studying them intently, carefully moving the rug to reveal yet more splintered wood. “I’m not sure what could have done this,” they admit. “The marks are fresh, but none of the dust was disrupted…”
The floorboards groan another protest, though it bounds off the walls in strange ways, making it difficult to pinpoint exactly where the sound originated.
“Aural contortions.” Mhin announces. “And a feeling that you’re being watched. Reflective surfaces will behave oddly as well. Hold this.” Mhin hands you the lantern (more: shoves it into your grasp, really) reaching into their satchel. Their nimble hands pull out a handful of alchemical concoctions, one which shines like the inside of a seashell, a tiny silver locket, which they flick open to reveal a small mirror. There’s symbols etched into it, so old and worn away you can’t make them out.
You draw the lantern closer at their behest, illuminating a small smile spread across their face.
Is Mhin …Having fun?
“Is there anything I can do to help?” You ask, hoping they don’t notice the warmth in your voice. Getting scolded would kind of ruin the mood.
Mhin glances up, blinking at you like they almost forgot you were there. Their tongue peeks out, wetting their lips as they consider. “Yes,” they finally agree, “would you–”
The lamplight is smothered by an unknown force.
The cracked streams of light from the window are gone, leaving you in darkness.
Mhin swears, their voice distorting as if they are suddenly very far away. A moment ago they were crouched beside you, but the shadows surrounding you are so inky you can’t make out their silhouette at all. Instinctively, you reach your hands out in front of you before freezing and reluctantly forcing them back down. If both you and Mhin end up stumbling around with hands outstretched, there’s a possibility that they might accidentally grasp onto you and disrupt your bandages. (You wish you had given into your desire to hold onto them earlier.)
You whisper their name, frantic, hoping they can hear you.
“I’m here,” Mhin assures you, their voice pitched low and cautious. You feel the gentle press of a foot against yours, a light tap of reassurance against the side of your sole. “Stay close.” There’s a brush of fingertips against your back. “If the entity is particularly powerful, it will be able to move objects,” Mhin cautions, “but a ghost should never be capable of causing harm to humans directly. And there’s not much in here that it could throw. Just stay calm. If you don’t keep your emotions in check, it will only be more incensed.”
Light flashes through the room again in a spotlight, guiding your gaze to a particular area of the building.
The abstract mural is defaced, dripping black liquid splattered boldly across the wall like arterial spray. You retreat a step, feeling something wet beneath your feet. There’s a sharp, astringent tang in the air. Musty and earthy-floral. Old velvet and leather, parchment and fresh paint.
You realize, with a sinking feeling of cold terror, that the black ichor on the wall spells your name.
Eyes on you.
Touch like a gossamer spider web. Brushing against the nape of your neck.
“Mhin,” you whisper urgently. “Something just–”
The cold hits you then. Bone deep and all consuming. Judging by the way Mhin swears, they must feel it too. Whatever this unknown entity is, it’s close. And it wants…
Shadow flickers, fingers reaching for you, claws grasping, white glint of teeth.
Mhin sneers audibly, reaching for you and reeling you in by your cloak just before the figure can snatch you up. Their arm wraps around you, guiding you with them as they recede. They sweep their stiletto in a wide arc and you hear the clang of metal on metal, though you have no idea what it was that Mhin hit. Their night vision must be immaculate–you can hardly see more than the fresh glint of their stiletto blade.
“Turns out it is a vermin infestation.”
A bark of laughter.
Very familiar laughter.
The door starts to rattle on its hinges, moving to the rhythm of Vere's glee. Mhin walks over to it, dragging your shaking body with them. With a definitive kick from Mhin and a final cackle from Vere, the door bursts open.
Mhin tugs you out into the open air and slams it behind them.
“Awful fur-bag.” Mhin spits the words out like the mere thought of Vere leaves a bad taste in their mouth.
You’re far enough away that the black paint clinging to both of your shoes is no longer leaving footprints, but you can’t say the same about the bone deep cold.
You’re shivering so hard your teeth start to chatter, adrenaline magnifying the chill in your bones. How did Vere even do that? You rub your arms and nearly stumble into Mhin in the process. Their features twist into a half-formed scowl, eyes sweeping you before softening into something more delicate.
You find yourself staring into eyes that seem to catch the moonlight, words caught in your throat.
“You’re freezing.” Mhin murmurs, resting a hand against the curve of your cheek, testing your temperature.
You’re surprised at the contact. Mhin is always so careful about touching you–it’s something you appreciate, usually, this unspoken agreement between the two of you; Mhin doesn’t ask intrusive questions, just makes silent hypotheses and treats your personal space with care. You appreciate it–usually–but sometimes, (constantly), you wish…
Mhin’s thumb pets against your jaw. They glace away from you as they do, unable to hold your gaze, but they don’t remove their hand, even as the moment hangs heavy in the air. Their hand is soft, you think, fingertips like silk, though you can feel the thick calluses built up at the meat of their palm. Likely hard won and harder lost, trophies from their time as a freelancer and whatever secret misfortune befell them what led them to Eridia. Unthinking, you nuzzle into their touch, luxuriating in the coveted feeling of skin on skin. You have half a mind to turn your head, press your lips against their calluses, kiss them like you’re drawing poison from a wound.
Mhin catches your chin between their thumb and pointer finger. Their grip is assertive, certain. You’d worry that you’ve angered them somehow, but the intensity of their gaze, the subtle tilt of their head, the flush of their cheeks, the featherlight caress of their breath on your lips…
–You think they might–
They back away abruptly in one smooth stride. Their hands work quickly at the intricate clasp on their cloak. Oh, now they’re really looking away.
“Wear this while we head back. You didn’t come to this city to die of cold.”
They look at their bracers pointedly as you hesitate, as if itching to adjust them. You slowly reach out and put the garment on.
The trek back to the Wick is uneventful. The occasional star glances out from the pall of clouds constantly lingering in the Eridian sky. You look for the waning moon, finding its reticent light and following it home. You return Mhin’s cloak at the door, careful to hold it in a way that allows them to take it without having to touch you – touch your bandages.
Mhin looks, oddly, a little reluctant to see it returned. You’re not sure how else you can possibly read their body language. Their hunched shoulders, the downturn of their mouth, their uncharacteristic lingering. Holding the cloak in their hands like they can’t quite decide what to think of it.
They let out a sharp breath.
Mhin levels you with a pointed glare as they settle their mantle across their shoulders, affixing the clasp without need to look down. “Buy some warmer clothes.” they order, “Tell Leander that the contract is complete and the buyer’s ‘ghost problem’ is solved. The building should be fine for renovations, just tell them to start their renewal project on a day when the Senobium is actually holding Vere’s leash.”
“You’ll come back for your cut tomorrow…?” Confusion rolls off your lips.
“No.” Mhin crosses their arms again. “I just told you to buy some warmer clothes, didn’t I? Consider it hazard pay.” Again, that disgusted tone Mhin reserves for Vere. “Even with that taken into consideration, you’ll still owe me, though. Don’t forget. I’ll collect some day; everyone does in this city.”
You’re not sure what to say. Mhin is insisting that this is just a loan, and you believe that wholeheartedly. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t charity. Mhin’s also offering you transparency–an open disclosure of the deal you’re agreeing to. You take their cut, buy what you need, and resolve to pay it back when you can. And if Mhin needs something similar in the future, you’ll return them in kind.
You think you stumble over your words a little, but you agree to their offer.
“I’ll be back to collect another contract. Hopefully something that’s not a waste of my time.”
And a promise to come back is a promise to see you again, isn’t it? To include you in their life? Is that what you’re supposed to take from this? That Mhin cares for you, even if they won’t–
Or is it your foolish heart, showing you a path that isn’t really there?
“Goodnight, Mhin.” You say the words, but their back is already turned, steps already taken.
✦ EXTENDED ENDING...? ✦
You putter around in your room at the Wet Wick as you go about your nightly routine. The occasional cheer or thud from below only accentuates your nervous energy, punctuating your reluctance to settle down and get into bed. You smooth the covers with your bandaged hands and fluff the pillow before extinguishing the lamplight. You tug the bedding up above your shoulders, fighting to get comfortable. As your eyelids finally start to droop, the flicker of a shadow catches your attention. It dances and sways and bends and grows until suddenly it is right in front of you. On top of you. Silken, blood red drips down onto your face, a knife gleam smile too close for comfort. You breathe in a gasp, wondering if you should scream. “Vere, what–” “Shhh,” he coos, pressing a finger lightly to your lips. His breath is hot against your skin. “I only came to keep you warm, pet.”

Hey hey! I just finished a ridiculously complicated and long UQuiz about fandoms! Please take it! :D
I put my heart and soul into this PLEASE play it!! I like sharing stuff I like, it's fun I promise. <3
Edit: This is kinda aimed a little at whump enjoyers btw, not entirely but a decent bit. Warning for swearing, possible spoilers for any/all included fandoms, vaguely mentioned drug use in one answer to one question, and violence. (Fictional.)
Included fandoms: Shark Wars, Warrior Cats, Pokemon Adventures, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Adventure, Hetalia, Percy Jackson, Gameknight999, Scratchcraft, the Pokemon Anime (with Ash as the protagonist), How to Train Your Dragon (books), How to Train Your Dragon (movies and shows), Spiderwicks Chronicles, and The Monkees.
Look under the cut for the "awnsers" to each question (after taking the quiz) if you want some context. XD This took me forever! (Warning, doing this will make this post very long.)
1. When your story gets serious, what do you want from it? 1. Pokemon DPA: A deeper meaning that gets the author in WAY over their head. 2. Warrior Cats: A deeper meaning that could be taken the exact wrong way if you so chose to. 3. Gameknight999: A deeper meaning that was probably not intentional. 4. Shark Wars: A deeper meaning that is mentioned explicitly once or twice and then never added to again. 5. Pokespe: A deeper meaning that needs a little thinking to make any god damn sense at all. 6. Pokeani: A deeper meaning that only seems to show up in half-canon material. 7. Spiderwicks: A deeper meaning that doesn't seem to have any actual bearings in reality. 8. HTTYD Books: A deeper meaning that CATCHES YOU OFF GAURD. LIKE, FUCK DUDE- 9. Scratchcraft: A deeper meaning that is pretty obvious if you ignore the fact that it doesn't actually exist. 10. Hetalia: A deeper meaning that is questionable at best. 11. Percy Jackson: A deeper meaning that hits really hard when you start growing up. 12. HTTYD movies: A deeper meaning that was better done somewhere else but I still cried. 13. The Monkees: A deeper meaning that just barely made it past the censors, and it as true to the real world as it could ever aim to be.
2. What do you want out of a protagonist? 1. Pokemon DPA: Overpowered. Also bites people on the ass. 2. Warrior Cats: I like to switch things up as the media progresses. :3 3. Gameknight999: Really traumatized but you wouldn't guess that at all from the concept of the story. 4. Shark Wars: Edgy but in a cringe way. 5. Pokespe: I like to switch things up as the media progresses. >:) 6. Pokeani: I can't tell if he's aroace or gay God Bless America. 7. Spiderwicks: I don't care. As long as they're in SOME SORT of a family- 8. HTTYD Books: Cursed by the repetition of history. 9. Scratchcraft: I want to pick my protagonist thank you very much. 10. Hetalia: Immortal, but silly. 11. Percy Jackson: Badass who everyone is scared of, but, like, they're so nice. :") 12. HTTYD movies: The more the merrier! 13. The Monkees: Someone funny, and maybe a little bit high.
3. What kind of antagonist really gets you going? 1. Pokemon DPA: Manipulators. 2. Warrior Cats: Just a little guy. :3 they kill people Just a little guy- 3. Gameknight999: At least a little edgy, preferably have motivations that don't make any sense. 4. Shark Wars: Kinda horny for no reason. lowkey 5. Pokespe: Utterly insane most of the time. 6. Pokeani: Idiots and/or common criminals. 7. Spiderwicks: Big scary beasts are good! Smart ones too! 8. HTTYD Books: Tumblr sexyman in a not-not-very-hot way. 9. Scratchcraft: Lowkey I could probably beat them up. 10. Hetalia: It's kinda weird to think of anyone as an antagonist. :( 11. Percy Jackson: Yeah. This guy would kill me and laugh about it. 12. HTTYD movies: Animal poachers are my favorite! 13. The Monkees: Is an antagonist really necessary? (Or is it the producer… hmm)
4. Pick a creature please! 1. Pokemon DPA: EXTREMLY overpowered magic penguin. 2. Warrior Cats: Cat who is cat-racist 3. Gameknight999: Minecraft wolf! 4. Shark Wars: Shark who is shark-racist 5. Pokespe: Traumatized rodent. 6. Pokeani: A weirdly athletic rodent 7. Spiderwicks: Fairies! 8. HTTYD Books: Dragon! (Sentient edition) 9. Scratchcraft: Cod God 10. Hetalia: A sentient piece of food. 11. Percy Jackson: Black Pegasus. 12. HTTYD movies: Dragon! (Pet cat editon) 13. The Monkees: Hmm... Monkee...
5. Pick an epic quote from one of the pieces of media in question. 1. Pokemon DPA: "I'm fine with being stupid!" 2. Warrior Cats: "Kill me. Kill me and live with the memory. Then tell the stars that you won." 3. Gameknight999: “You can only do what you believe you can do. I can do this,” 4. Shark Wars: “Let’s get you back where you belong before you catch your death.” 5. Pokespe: “If you can only achieve a dream by being deceitful, using others, and crushing their own hopes, that’s not called a dream, it’s called an ambition.” 6. Pokeani: "I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are." 7. Spiderwicks: "We call them 'fairy tales' for a reason, you know. They're not real." 8. HTTYD Books: “We're all snatching precious moments from the peaceful jaws of time.” 9. Scratchcraft: "Goodbye everybody! I'm going to the sky!" (Storm, S2E30) 10. Hetalia: “It seems as if Americans like to be the center of attention even after they're dead.” 11. Percy Jackson: "If my life is going to mean anything, I have to live it myself," 12. HTTYD movies: "I wouldn't kill him, because he looked as frightened as I was. I looked at him… and I saw myself," 13. The Monkees: "If, uh, people say well, I can’t carry a note, I can’t, I can’t say, I can’t sing, I, I’m tone deaf. But nobody’s tone deaf, and if you love music, then you can play music."
6. How much violence are you feeling like looking at? 1. Pokemon DPA: The real fear happens when the comic relief finally stops. 2. Warrior Cats: Somehow the worst part is that hardly anyone seems to notice something is wrong. 3. Gameknight999: It's a game, but only to half of the participants in the conflict. 4. Shark Wars: Oh, that's torture and mass killings graphically detailed in a children's book, okay. 5. Pokespe: The blood was censored, but somehow you know it's there. 6. Pokeani: It's all fun and games until somebody randomly drops dead. 7. Spiderwicks: Everything is totally fine mom! My sister DIDN'T just get kidnapped by the fae! I promise! 8. HTTYD Books: Ultimately, it's never the violence that truly hurts, but the fact that you know it will happen again and again, and all you can do is try and make things marginally better while you are still here, crawling through the mud. 9. Scratchcraft: You get to choose how real any of this is. 10. Hetalia: A comedy with an underlying truth of extreme violence and war and the realization that none of these people can be friends forever. 11. Percy Jackson: Somehow we always seem to push through. ̶u̶n̶t̶i̶l̶ ̶w̶e̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶a̶n̶y̶m̶o̶r̶e̶ 12. HTTYD movies: We will always keep fighting! (But there comes a time that sometimes fighting the good fight is not actually the good fight anymore.) 13. The Monkees: It entirely depends if we're talking about slapstick comedy or the real deal here. (If you look too deep you'll find both.)
7. How do you like your fandoms. 1. Pokemon DPA: I'm fine with a small fandom. I'm not bothered by the bones of a (slightly) bigger one. 2. Warrior Cats: This fandom feels like being surrounded by a pack of wolves! thumbs down 3. Gameknight999: I have never been in a worse fandom. Seriously. Imagine being in a fandom of twelve yearolds on WATTAPAD that then transitions to DISCORD. This is what Hell feels like. (And I'm Catholic.) /pos I luv you guys but STILL 4. Shark Wars: Literally no other person in the whole world is perfect for me. :3 (PLEASE JOIN ME. PLEASE. HELP!) 5. Pokespe: This fandom feels like being surrounded by a pack of wolves! thumbs up 6. Pokeani: Most god awful takes you've ever seen because half the people here don't even like the content and the other half are eight years old. 7. Spiderwicks: What fandom? 8. HTTYD Books: When the fandom is just the size that you can't argue with each other over media or you'll fall apart. ok symbol 9. It shows an orange cat with green eyes among blades of sharp green grass.] 3. Gameknight999: [A cover of a book showing Gameknight brandishing a sword at a red Enderman. It looks weirdly off model for a minecraft book cover.] 4. Shark Wars: [A picture of the cover of the first book showing a very blue shark (Gray) with a smaller a green one (Barkley) next to him. There are others in the background. It is mostly blue.] 5. Pokespe: [A picture of the cover of book three in the Red and Blue arch. It shows Red and his pikachu Pika, as well as a few of his other Pokemon along the side. The background is green.] 6. Pokeani: [Part of a Poster showing Ash, Misty, Brock, and a whole lot of Pokemon. The background is white.] 7. Spiderwicks: [A picture of the first cover. It shows the three main characters looking down at a book with very different expressions. The drawing is brown tinted, but the area around it is blue.] 8. HTTYD Books: [A picture of one of the covers of How To Betray a Dragon's Hero, it shows Hiccup being carried above a lake by a red dragon.] 9. 15. This quiz is all over the place, isn't it. Whatever. Time to pick the sort of media you would like to enjoy your chosen franchise/series in. 1. Pokemon DPA: A short(-ish) and sweet manga series. 2. Warrior Cats: It is critical that these books must have as many mistakes as possible. Also, there must be a LOT of them. 3. Gameknight999: Books where you eventually start wondering if the author proofread this stuff at all /pos 4. Shark Wars: Vaguely obscure children's books 5. Pokespe: A really fricking long manga series 6. Pokeani: This anime is WAY too long. 7. Spiderwicks: A short series of thin, but aesthetically pleasing books 8. HTTYD Books: Some surprisingly chunky books with a cool font! 9. Scratchcraft: Youtube videos where most of the series is deleted :( 10. Hetalia: Anything I can get my hands on. A webcomic, an anime, music, more than one musical for some reason, etc… 11. Percy Jackson: A book series that has several levels of optional other series to read with it :D 12. HTTYD movies: Movies and a whole lot of optional episodes if you want them 13. The Monkees: A two season TV sitcom from the 60s, a movie, several books from the people involved, and several albums of varying quality.
16. Pick a silly story I've had happen in relation to these stupid things. 1. Pokemon DPA: I thought it was a different series. Like, I picked it up and thought I was reading a different book series than I was. 2. Warrior Cats: I stayed up ALL NIGHT at Girl Scout Camp reading one of the books a few into a section of the series that I have never read before or since. 3. Gameknight999: I associate the smell of magazines with this fandom now, unfortunately. 4. Shark Wars: For some reason I could not find book two. Like. For four years. Why. I found everything else almost at once. What about book two makes it impossible to find. 5. Pokespe: I made it my mission to read through the entire series in a month every summer through middle AND high school. 6. Pokeani: My mother constantly apologizes for letting me watch this show. It's great. 7. Spiderwicks: On a four hour car trip, the only thing I brought to do was read this book. I get car sick when I read in a car. 8. HTTYD Books: When I was in like second grade I accidentally left one of the books out in the pouring rain at an aunt's house. It survived, shockingly. 9. Scratchcraft: I'm a thumbnail artist??? Idk how that happened woah 10. Hetalia: My friend and I were out watching this show in the middle of winter. She got minor frostbite. I wasn't even cold. skull 11. Percy Jackson: I read the first book instead of having Thanksgiving dinner with my family. It wasn't on purpose. Nobody could find me and I was too busy reading to notice how much time was passing until everyone was already gone and there wasn't food left. 12. HTTYD movies: This and Das Boot Directors Cut are my favorite things to watch on the TV. Yeah. 13. The Monkees: I was very upset in college and I prayed for any sort of distraction to make me feel better. A day later, I got so hyperfixated on this fandom that I could not think about anything BUT the fandom and began alternating between squeaking in joy and sobbing for about three days straight.
17. Thank God that's over! Woah, speaking of Him, pick an afterlife! (If there is no such thing in the series in question, I picked the next closest thing that appears in the media.) 1. Pokemon DPA: Chunks of earth float in the twisted sky. Somewhere you cannot see, a shadowy creature roars. 2. Warrior Cats: A life just like yours, but none of you can grow anymore. 3. Gameknight999: It doesn't apply. My code will be gone before I get there. 4. Shark Wars: A sparkling ocean, uncannily blue and full of voices, but calm. 5. Pokespe: Time is paused here. Music floats through your ears. 6. Pokeani: Not sure. Every time I die, I seem to come back. I guess it'll be a surprise? 7. Spiderwicks: Suspended in time on the back of a magical creature. If I reach down to touch the ground, I will finally disappear. 8. HTTYD Books: My death doesn't matter. What matters is what I do in my life. 9. Scratchcraft: A comedically timed Minecraft "YOU DIED" screen. 10. Hetalia: Well, I'm not ever going to die, first of all. 11. Percy Jackson: You have to be a hero to even remember living once you get there. 12. HTTYD movies: Presumably Valhalla? 13. The Monkees: Can't. The writers won't let it end. (They crushed it anyway.)
18. What "bad end" would you like to be a very easy possibility in something you read? 1. Pokemon DPA: The world has been restarted, made into something devoid of love and emotions. But you'll never live to see it, in fact, it's as if you've never lived at all. 2. Warrior Cats: A horrible drought robs a society of water, slowly, they all wither away. 3. Gameknight999: The virus bleeds out of the game, infecting the real world turning it into a nightmare. 4. Shark Wars: A horrible emperor takes over the entire world, cannibalizing or enslaving anyone who stands in his way. 5. Pokespe: The protagonist stays frozen, and unfortunately, the second follows in his footsteps. There is no one to stop change now. 6. Pokeani: A creature beyond all of humanity has decided that people do not deserve to live free. 7. Spiderwicks: The fae continue killing, families are lost to their power, the town twists, crackling into the trash heap at its center. 8. HTTYD Books: As they say, "If it doesn't end well, then it isn't the end!" 9. Scratchcraft: [I've got nothing. Honestly. I don't know how I've managed anything serious so far. Feel free to pick this if you don't like the other options lol.] 10. Hetalia: Well. Honestly. The whole thing kind of feels like a bad end? 11. Percy Jackson: The Old Ones take over again. There is nothing but suffering for humanity now. 12. HTTYD movies: Everything will continue just as it was. 13. The Monkees: Well. The band broke up.
19. Okay, if there are any fandoms you DO NOT WANT to be recommended, speak you peace now. (This will give you one point for every other fandom. Picking "no," will give you one point for everything, to even them out.) 1-13: [self explanatory]
20. One more question! Time to pick your own. >^w^< 1. Pokemon DPA: If you had the choice to, would you forgive the man who hurt you so badly? 2. Warrior Cats: If you had to break the rules to find your true place, would you do it? 3. Gameknight999: If a day for you was 72 days for your friends, how often would you visit? 4. Shark Wars: If you were a fish, would you eat another fish if they asked you to very nicely? 5. Pokespe: If you had to conceal your true self if it meant love from others, would you do it? 6. Pokeani: Would you pick ̶c̶h̶a̶r̶m̶a̶n̶d̶e̶r̶,̶ ̶s̶q̶u̶i̶r̶t̶l̶e̶,̶ ̶b̶u̶l̶b̶a̶s̶a̶u̶r̶, or pikachu? 7. Spiderwicks: If you were to find out faries were real, would you put your life on the line in order to see them? 8. HTTYD Books: Do you believe that it can ever get better? 9. Scratchcraft: If you were a god, would you play a quick board game before ascending? 10. Hetalia: If you were to live forever, would you take it seriously? 11. Percy Jackson: If you had the choice to life forever or be a target for the rest of your life, would you take the offer? 12. HTTYD movies: Will you keep fighting? 13. The Monkees: "Hey! Who turned on the dark?"
Fandom descriptions:
Shark Wars: Hm. Did you get kicked out of YOUR Shiver too?? Shark Wars is a book series by EJ Altbacker which goes through increasingly violent and terrible events in the lives of the main characters, all while aiming at a relatively young audience. It's one of those series that takes like thirty minutes to want to start reading the book (even as it's in your hands), but once you do, you literally can't put it down. Truly a masterpiece, if I, the only Shark Wars fan on the planet, can convince you. I highly recommend this series! It's a lot of fun! (Don't worry about the Shark Magic, it's martial arts if they say it is.)
Warrior cats: May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather before highrock for a clan meeting! Warrior Cats is a book series written by a group of authors who, together, go by Erin Hunter. It follows the lives of a whole lot of cats, and it does so in a way that is shockingly gripping (and, let's face it, a little ridiculous), frankly, you couldn't really ask for a better middle school friend group roleplay. About a million characters, and about a million ways to interpret them… purrfect. (sorry) (The moon pool sure is cold at this time of night.)
Pokespe: The power of the Viridian Forest has bestowed upon you the ability to read something real good. The Pokemon Adventures (or Pokemon Special) manga is a very long running manga series written by Hidenori Kusaka. It currently goes from the Red and Blue games ALLL the way to Scarlet and Violet, and it does a great job too! It's characters are original and three dimensional (despite being based on game counterparts), and it's plots can be completely unexpected, even for someone who played the original games. I highly encourage getting into these series, or at least reading up to the third book. It's a lot of fun. Yes. We KNOW about the Arbok already, stop mentioning it!! Why do you think we're here!??!?
Pokemon DPA: …do you want to meet a god- Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Adventure is an eight book series by manga author and artist Shigekatsu Ihara. It centers around the travels of Hareta as he makes his way through the Sinnoh region. Very fast paced and with slightly odd humor, you may wonder why I like it so much, and to that I have to tell you that it is, in fact, my FAVORITE Pokemon media. I know. A little ridiculous. But who can blame me? The art, character designs, and story are all really good, and the action is nothing to scoff at. If you like something silly, just a wee bit violent, and a lot of fun, give this series a try! I could really use a friend in this fandom. XD We don't mind being a little stupid here. :3
Hetalia: Oh boy, here we are. Hetalia is a controversial manga, anime, and musical franchise started by Hidekaz Himaruya. It is a satirical telling of various points in history through humanized versions of the counties. It is absolutely not everyone's cup of tea, but it helped me to better understand (and find interest in) history, and if you like satire and historical situations, this may be the place for you. Uh… Make pasta not war?
Percy Jackson: Well. I didn't ASK to be a half blood. (And I guess neither did you.) Percy Jackson (which hardly needs an introduction) was originally a book series by Rick Riordan, and has since expanded into a (not very well liked) movie series, and a show, as well as many other connected series. Despite this, the original book series is by far my favorite, and if you are looking for something that is very funny, and very violent, it is the way to go. Have fun demigod! (PS: I think I saw the upstairs window glow, did you see that?)
Gameknight999: Ah. I see, you got hit with the digitalizer too! The Gameknight999 series is an unofficial "isekai" Minecraft novel series by Mark Cheverton. It can be considered childish, and most often found in book fairs at elementary schools, but it can have a much darker tone if you want to look into it. The fandom itself for this book series came at a difficult time in my life, and though I am unable to determine whether the fandom was an overall net positive or negative for me, the books were definitely a positive. They inspired creativity and community, while also being objectively hilarious in concept. Come, let's hold hands and frolic through our computer screens together. :)
Scratchcraft: Welcome new Scratcher! Click the "create" button to make a new project. :3 Scratchcraft is a Minecraft SMP that is currently in it's fourth season. What is interesting about this SMP, however, is that it was started on the website Scratch.mit.edu, and, also, that it is not very active. While the content itself in this fandom is few and far between, the community is incredible once you get your footing in it. The member who currently uploads the most goes by "StormLordZeus" on Youtube and went by "haunted_enderman" on Scratch. (His Minecraft skin is pictured in the result image above.) And NO, you can't ask to join Scratchcraft.
Pokeani: Sorry you woke up late, we've just got a Pikachu left! Oh well, no matter. The Pokemon Anime (starring Ash Ketchum as the lead character) was an anime that lasted for 25 years across 26 seasons and several movies. It is not my favorite Pokemon Media, but it is still one of my favorite fandoms of all time due to it's cast, great range of amazing to hilariously bad animation (only sparingly), and episodic nature. If you are looking for something fun that you can pretty much jump into whenever, the Pokemon Anime may be the right fit for you! Enjoy your journey, you hopeful Pokemon Master!
How To Train Your Dragon (movies and shows): Welcome to dragon training! The How To Train Your Dragon movies and shows were based on a wonderful series of the same name, but quickly fell completely off the mark. You may think, because I personally prefer the books, that this means that the movies are bad in some way. Absolutely not! Without spoilers, the first How To Train Your Dragon movie is my favorite movie of all time, and the second it's really all that far behind it. If you want something with incredible music, a great story, and a really nice message (not even to mention the characters and animation) try out at LEAST the first movie, and start branching out from there if it hooks you in like it did me. And, yeah, if you see that Night Fury, I heard pretty much everyone is looking for it.
Spiderwicks Chronicals: Must've taken the dumbwaiter up here huh? The Spiderwicks Chronicles is a short book series made by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. I must admit that I do not often post about this series, but despite that, it is one of my favorite fantasy series I have ever read. It's short, sweet, and very depressing when it wants to be. If that kind of thing sounds up your alley, who knows! Maybe someone just like you could encourage me and others to show more interest as well. (Don't forget to get some fairy bathwater in your eyes on the way out. Sorry if that's gross, it's kinda important.)
How To Train Your Dragon (books): Well, suffering swordfish, you've found your way here. The How To Train Your Dragon books series is a twelve book series by Cressida Cowell that follows Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third and his friends as they go on wacky misadventures through the Barbaric Archipelago. At least, it is until the true extent of everything becomes clearer and clearer. If you want something that becomes surprisingly serious (while still remaining rather funny), and is incredible and exciting all the way through, try on these books for size. Isn't fate artistic?
The Monkees: Hey hey! We're the Monkees fandom! Some people say we Monkee around! The Monkees was a 1966 show about four people who wanted to be a band, but it was also a band made up of four people who wanted to be in a band. Depending on what you want, this fandom can provide you from anything from sitcom antics, to Real Person Fiction, to a really weird movie. -and of course, save the Texas Prairie Chicken.

31 days of drawing my favorite boy, exploring several facets of his personality, relationships, alternate universes, interests…
special thanks to @thefreakandthehair for embarking on this journey with me, and also amazingly writing something inspired by every single prompt we came up with together! having your companionship and encouragement really made it a joy to do and was definitely a huge factor in my ability to draw something for every single day :’)
here’s my eddie month tag, and there’s a masterlist of every piece under the cut in case you missed any, alongside a bit of a rambling message from me 🫶🏻
setting out, i didn’t think i could do all the prompts. on october 1st i had about 15 started, and less than half of that completed. but then i did day 5 in a couple hours out of the blue, and it had a really positive response from you guys that gave me the courage to aim to do every single prompt. some were more thought out than others, a couple i had been working on for months prior, but ultimately i got myself to share 31 pieces of art in the span of a single month, and that’s a huge accomplishment for me.
somehow, i don’t even feel burnt out at the end of this, only more inspired and fueled to keep creating for this fandom! i have multiple ideas and projects in the works already.
thank you all for your support, for your encouragement, for your likes and reblogs and comments—i see all of them, it all means the world to me. i gained new followers in such a short span of time, and i can’t wait to share my art with so many new faces! i’ve really come to find a home in this fandom with all the other little lost sheep that flocked to eddie’s character specifically, and i’ve found true companionship and fulfillment sharing my art with such a positive and loving community.
here’s to another month celebrating eddie, since just about every month ends up being eddie month for me ❣️
in case you missed some of these, here’s a masterlist of every eddie i made this month! i’d love to hear your favorites, if you’d like to share with me. there’s a star beside each one with <100 notes, in case you’d like to give those some love.

Hii! Oh thank you so much, that's really sweet! Here they are :)
+ obligatory link to the uquiz in question
"You're the exception"
your emotional walls have walls. seriously, you've guarded yourself so well, you sometimes forget how to look over your own walls and see the beauty of the world outside the safety of the protection you've set up. you forget how to escape the confines you built for yourself, that is, but some people (some incredibly rare people) somehow know their way through that intricate maze of walls and thorns around you. they're the exception, and terrifying as it might be at first, you'll let them know eventually. you smile at them where you'd scowl at another. you crack a joke where you'd usually stay quiet. you find yourself opening up more than you'd ever imagined. don't tear your fortress down if you don't want to, but maybe try to build your loved ones a little home inside it instead. you don't have to be alone. you deserve better than being alone in there.
doing things for them without being asked
you're observant and you know your loved ones so well, you know when to do things for them without having to ask (or be asked) what they need. they don't always know how much you do for them; there's no need pointing it out, you're just happy to help. you do things simply to make others feel better and lighten their burdens, and expect nothing in return: their happiness is enough for you, even if they don't always know you're the one who caused it. still, as good as it might feel to give and give and keep on giving, please allow them to do things for you in return. people feel better when they're being helpful (you should know this, more than anyone) and no matter how hard it might feel for you to accept help from someone, you should take it when they readily give it to you. you deserve to be loved in the way you love them, too. you won't be a burden -- and remember: a real friend will love you even when you're not constantly being useful, because your company is more than enough.
"here, have a sandwich"
you like to take care of people. probably because you don't take very good care of yourself, and you know how hard life can be when you don't have someone occasionally looking over your shoulder, offering you food when you forget to eat, telling you to rest when you've overlooked how tired you really are. you want to be that person for other people. you *are* that person for other people, and you're good at it too -- but remember to think of yourself as well when you're making someone else a sandwich. please, keep being you. the world would look a lot better if there were more people like you in it.
arriving early because you know they will, too
you might not feel like you can ask anyone for their time, but you do appreciate sharing yours with them any chance you get -- so you arrive early whenever you know they'll be there, too, just so you can get a few extra minutes with them. maybe you lie about it, tell them there was less traffic than expected or you miscalculated the time you had to leave home. but maybe you open up about it and tell them. i think you should, i think they'll love you for it. you don't feel like you're worth anyone's time, but you do feel like they're worth yours. have you ever considered that the person who arrives early, too, might be there for exactly the same reason you are?
watching them from across the room
they don't see the way your eyes have softened as you look at them. you make sure they don't, at first, averting your gaze the moment it seems like they might turn your way and see the love in your eyes. but you might work up the courage after a while, and it feels like laying your soul bare for all to see as they finally meet the love in your eyes -- and, lo and behold, return it with a softness all their own. you're not much of a talker. you prefer to think, usually from a distance, and keep your thoughts to yourself. you're quiet about things in general; you've never been too comfortable taking up space. but you're great at admiring things: the beauty of your surroundings, the people you love. you can sit and watch and soak up the beauty of the world for a long time when given the chance. how much more beautiful would the world be, if everyone could look upon it with just as much love in their eyes?
"I'll wait for you"
you're a restless person, always moving from one place to another, perpetually occupied with something or other. people call you impatient. hell, you might even call *yourself* impatient! and that's fine, that's just who you are. but you'll wait for some people. you'd sit down and wait for them if they needed you to, and the first time you do, the first time you show them you'll stretch your limited patience to something limitless for them if they need it, it feels almost like a confession. you might not be very patient with the world, but there are exceptions you're more than willing to make. you're so good at making people feel like they're not a burden.
"are you sure you're okay?"
you wear your heart on your sleeve. you're probably the first to tell a person you love them in an unsubtle way -- because you love them, and they deserve to know it! maybe you're not entirely open about what you feel all the time (it depends on the situation and the person you're with) but you're generally comfortable around emotions. your own and others' -- and you'll make sure to encourage the people you love to be honest about how they feel, too. you'll check in with them to make sure they're okay, and you know your closed-off loved ones well enough to check in with them again when they've assured you that yes, they're fine, don't worry. because guess what? you'll happily worry about them, and they'll get it in the end. your love is the healing type; you're patching up scars you might not even know exist.
#i'm curious now though! which result did you get? 👀#i wonder if there's a button to show all answers in the first place tbh. if there is i haven't found it yet myself haha#uquiz#alys.txt#ask#on love

I made a uquiz for what kind of magic would come naturally to you in the aRoIiS universe!
I remember taking a LOT of these back in the day, so I thought I'd make one of my own, now that it's having it's renaissance thanks to @icerosesummerbracket
Here's the link~
https://uquiz.com/jk3YeO
[OOC: okay, so basically what I was trying to do here was introduce a basic concept for a magic system via uquiz. My idea was that similar to the four phlegm based temperaments, in this universe everyone could have element based temperaments. Anyone can practice any type of magic, but based on your temperament(s), some come more naturally, and some are so hard, they're simply not worth the effort. I also had the revolutionary idea, that doing magic (brace yourselves) could actually be Quite Hard and Exhausting, so the closer the nature of the magic is to your innate temperament, the easier time you'll have with it. If anyone has any other ideas for this, PLEASE tell me. The names for the different subtypes of magic could also use some work. My spelling probably sucks, so excuse that please. Aaaand the share image I used was made by @ceaselessbeholder. Hope you have fun with the quiz!]

I know you're busy with irl stuff but I wanted to share with you that when I posted my art of my wizardsona on Mastodon, someone asked "I'm not a tumbler user, how do I find out more about open source wizard school?" And of course I sent them links to the "embark" post & the uquiz itself & afaik you haven't posted elsewhere, to which they said "No offence to tumbler but this could really have legs if it was centralized on a site or app or whatnot. It's a fun idea." And while I figure this is meant to just be a fun little sideblog thing, I think that should you be graced with the time & continued inspiration to make it into a whole Thing™, that would be very cool. What you've shown us so far is so unique & interesting & if there ends up being a long haul, I'll totally hang around for it!
Thank you! That is very flattering to hear! Perhaps someday I might do something with this, but this blog was meant for just a little community. Nothing too grand. That does not take any fun away from it, though! Or I should hope not haha. I honestly did not expect for so many people to enjoy what I was making for them. It made me very, very happy to see so many people making art and sending kind messages. I feel slight guilt at not being able to get to them all, I do have a bit of performance anxiety so I am trying not to push myself in that aspect.
I liked the idea of a small little blog that people could actively participate in. Something not too big in their minds, but a passing thing from time to time. Where they see a poll or a lesson and they can be a little wizard in a stressful world for a moment in time. Something that is small and theirs to enjoy. I was more than eager to supply that. So I don't believe I will do anything too grandiose with this concept, but I greatly appreciate hearing how much people enjoy this idea. It brought a lot of surprise and love to my heart. So, thank you for sharing and I hope that the person who wishes to engage will be able to.
With love,
Mx.Newton <3

So did this uquiz and got this,
sweet supporting character: i wanna be your grandma so bad, please let me pinch your face and knit you a sweater. you're most likely the best friend of the protagonist, and there's some possible overlap between you and the narrator. you're sweet and try very hard to be selfless. you watch the ones you love descend into darkness, and make every effort to help them through it all. it's not enough. you keep trying to make it enough. you provide comic relief, a listening ear, a hug, advice── any method of support you can think of. your own personal tragedy isn't documented. sometimes you wish it was, even though you're the one who ensures it is not. you want people to care for you the way you do for others. but you refuse to ask for it, so you wait for others to read between the lines. they usually don't. at least you're the one who gets to survive the tragedy. no matter how many times you beg to trade places, it is always you at the end, sitting at someone else's grave.
Wanted to share it because the answer was interesting. If any of you want to take it, that's fine, but none of you have to. I'll also untag you if asked.
So, @apatchworkstar , @mangomybeloved , @siverfanweedo , @good-beans , @doctorbunny , @candckirby , @stonerkobato.
Oh yeah, and @tired-and-unslimed
You already took it, but I thought you might like to see the full answer here.

An end to deportations. Free movement of people, not capital
Ending discrimination based on race, sex, gender identity, sexuality, religion, disability or class
Tuition free public education at all levels
Healthcare as a human right
Complete reproductive freedom in all forms

How do I become a member?
You can apply for a card through the DSA website and get connected to your local chapter that way but it is not required. Your local chapter should be able to explain the specific needs they have for card carrying members, but you do not need a card to attend meetings.
Why should I pay attention to DSA?
DSA works as a central hub for leftist organizing. Even if your local chapter is not the right fit, you may find people or organizations in your local area that you did not know existed.

Do you guys know Quotev? It was the uQuiz of my day, plus it hosted fanfictions (and original fictions) so it's kind of like buzzfeed meets Wattpad.
Now here's the thing, right, it used to also have "groups". Each group was essentially a miniature forum where you could start threads, read and reply to others, all that jazz. And Quotev users almost exclusively used these groups for roleplaying.
But sometime in, like, 2015? 2016 maybe? They began to hide the groups. It was a subtle change at first, not letting you select the "groups" option when searching the site, but it evolved from there. Groups still exist, but you can no longer:
See them on people's profiles or list them on your own
Find them through searching whatsoever (they were initially still findable through an "everything" category)
Create them on the "create" menu
You could only see them on your own profile on a little tab, and through there you could create new groups and access any you currently belonged to.
This led to people creating all sorts of lists so users could advertise their groups or find groups they were interested in. The problem, of course, was that there wasn't the same kind of organization, and the more entries a list had, the worse it got. Those who were on page 105 of a 500 page thread would no longer be receiving members, despite continued interest in whatever subject matter they were discussing or roleplaying.
I saw this happen in real time and it devastated me, since I loved the roleplay community on Quotev and it more or less disappeared/became obscured as the years went on. Now, Discord functions as a similar entity to these groups, but it's still not the same.
This was a very long preamble to my actual thesis: the internet as a whole is doing something kind of similar. Not to roleplaying, but to genuine human users and creations.
Everything is being obscured bit by bit so the only things you see when you search are AI, rage bait, scam bots, etc. Google is nearly unusable, incapable of showing you want you actually searched for, even though it's still in there somewhere. We're creating list after list of the resources that people actually want, but sharing those lists around isn't easy, and the sites we're sharing them on are falling apart too.
I miss the dogshit internet of four, five years ago because it wasn't half as dogshit as it is now. Yeah, we could all move to neocities or whatever, but realistically? It's not the same. We've lost something that cannot be recovered.

hello I just took your tragedy quiz and naturally I'm in love with you now and also I Must ask for an update on most fun/interesting/best text response questions
hello, so glad you liked the quiz!! unfortunately I haven’t been able to keep up with all the text responses, cause uquiz is a mess to navigate and the quiz is getting a ridiculous amount of takers… but I’ll give some highlights from what I’ve seen!!!
most people who answer do so along the same lines. “ok” or “fuck you” or “no” in the “breathe” box. “me” or “idk” in the “who are you box. “disappear” in the final one (which I find *incredibly* ironic).
But!! there’s also been a lot of interesting discussion in the final box. a lot of people are making the argument that saying goodbye hurts more in the moment, but disappearing hurts more in the long run. I appreciate the thought!!
here’s one of my current favorite takes on it:
there have also been a few poetic answers to “who are you?” which I’ve enjoyed!
shout out to this one, it’s the only one I thought to screenshot:
I’d love to comb through the answers more and share the ones made of pure poetry that I’m sure are in there, but I just don’t have it in me, unfortunately. most people don’t even write anything, and there’s only so many answers that are exactly the same or nothing at all that I can read before giving up.
love love love receiving asks though! if anyone has any more comments, questions, or perhaps answers that they want to be easier to find, please send them my way <3
#fresh from the river#thanks for the ask! truly!#what name did you take the quiz under#if I may ask?#I wanna see if I can find your answers lol#asks

*stuffs face into your inbox* hi spinny! Hru?
you approaching my inbox /silly. hello friend :D!!!
honestly life's been pretty rough lately. i've been having a really good and really bad time simultaneously, if that makes any sense. i won't get into much because it's personal, but in regard to the good parts, i've been able to maintain a good balance between my life online and irl which feels so good! it's great to feel in the moment, which is something i have struggled with for a long time. and it's great to feel like i'm finding genuine joy in my life that isn't fleeting. and and even more than usual i am so incredibly grateful for my friends and mutuals who have changed my life for the better! not to get too sappy heheh, but i started this blog to share my silly lil uquiz and to check out the warrior cats fandom. i've made so many friends in the span of a year! all who put a big grin on my face and remind me that i'm wanted and needed and worthy of life, even when things get tough. i don't have to talk about the tough stuff, but my friends and mutuals simply understand and care. overall, i'm so grateful for the place i'm in rn. things are as tough as ever, but i know i'm on the right track :)
coughs. that was a long ass ramble but im feeling so positive and wanted to get it off my chest! love ya gem and love ya all my mutuals :] i really appreciate all of you
thank you for this ask btw!! how are you doing? i hope you've been alright lately ^^
#thank you for this ask genuinely#its nice to get checked up on :)#i really hope you're doing okay and if you're not i'm always here to listen /gen#asks!!#mutuals#gif

Came here from a uQuiz, you told me to say hi.
So uh. Hi!!!! Hope you're doing well!!!
Uhhhmmmm have a little guy!
Hii!! It's so sweet of you to come over and say hello! I'm good, hope you're doing well too!
Thank you for the little guy, I love him! <3
I think I found your answers to the quiz and I'm not sharing them here because obviously that's private :) but I really wanted to give you a word of advice when I read them, and lo and behold, here you are! Please don't be afraid to tell people how you want to be loved, or worry about what they'd do (or wouldn't do) if you don't give them any clues about what you want; if they don't know how you best receive their love, there's no way for them to fully reach you. A lot of people seem to have this idea that everyone just randomly guesses each other's love languages, but I promise that's not true! No one instantly knows whether someone prefers a hug or a compliment. It takes work, communication, and observation skills (but mostly communication and good intentions) to make sure your loved ones know how loved they are :) so don't be afraid to help them along in the right direction, when it comes to loving you! (Even if it's scary! It took me 21 years to figure out that "scary" often translates to "necessary" in this context.)
Hope you have a great day <3 (and for anyone wondering: you can find the uquiz here :)

I'm interested in making uquiz with a high number results like you do. Do you have any advice? Would it be possible to see any of the material you use to keep track of the questions, answers, and results? Thank you in advance.
hey! yes, tons of advice, and i'd love to see/share your final product! :)
i love making huge quizzes because it forces you to really think about the defining factors of each of your results and make multiple overlapping groups. i think there's two ways of getting started with this that really depend on the scale of your quiz.
the colors uquiz is a good example of how to keep things a little more simple. each result has three defining attributes: shade (light, medium, dark), color category (red, blue, monochrome, etc), and blend (so orange could have a red blend, a yellow blend, or no blend). all questions in the quiz are split into either a "shade" question, a "color category" question, or a "blend" question, so at the end you get the result that has your top options for each. when deciding how many questions to have for each category, i consider how many options there are within that category. for the colors quiz, there are three shades, three blends, but nine color categories, so there are more color categories questions. from there, it's really up to you to decide what each "means", which is your creativity as a quiz creator. you can say anything means anything as long as you sell it in the result description and make it feel accurate to how your quiz taker answered the questions. beige is my favorite color so i made that a soft, gentle, warm option -- and got a bunch of people grumbling about getting beige, but saying it fits, which is what matters :P
so while i definitely recommend a very simple framework for your first uquiz, the categories get complicated very quickly! for example, in the dnd uquiz, each question corresponded to either race or class... but there were 14 classes and 30 races, so then you need to start making sub-categories. for class, these can be things like martial vs spellcasting, INT vs CHA, patron vs no patron, etc. for race, maybe things like typical biome, magical ability, cultural values, etc. consider how these embody what you have decided "race" and "class" represent. i decided that race was who you are, and class was what you do. all ways that i divided the races was to emphasize some aspect of a person's identity (their archetype, their vices and virtues, what is their home) and all the ways i divided class was to emphasize some aspect of a person's choice (what weapon do you pick, how did you defeat the enemy, who do you want to become). in short, giant quizzes are easier to design when you have more potential categories (race, class) with less potential options within that category (barbarian, ranger) -- they're harder when you have less categories and many many options within that category.
so definitely start an excel sheet! i always have a tab for questions and results. in the questions tab, decide what each category each question answers, something like this--
i can't remember if these are the final questions that made it into the quiz, but this is how i start! you can see on the side different categories of the pokemon uquiz -- i tried to make it easy on myself by making a ton of categories... but tbh i think the pokemon quiz is really hard for me to edit because there are SO many categories and adding in pokemon takes a lot of research for each one (type, secondary type, ability, EV yield, catch rate, contest type, habitat...) haha.
in your second tab you'll want to have all of your results and record what answer each will get on your quiz. this can even be dummy coded as "1" "2" "3" etc for each answer option; the important part is making sure each question has an equal (roughly) number of results per answer. for some things this isn't possible -- if there are more grass-type pokemon, for example, then you can consider combining two groups, so maybe rock/ground is a single group instead of two separate ones, if that helps make the options more equal. so here's how it'd look using the dnd classes as an example:
(i'm usually shy about posting these because i don't want people to disagree with my choices LOL)
so you can see each answer has relatively the same number of results assigned to it, and that each result has unique answers across all questions. you want to pick your questions such that no two results have similar answers -- just differing by one or two questions. if you're finding that two of your results are two similar, consider what questions would really get at the heart of their differences (or how you as the quiz creator perceive them to be different). for example, i viewed barbarians and monks as classes that are martial and depend on their party for company/skills, but split them apart in how they're viewed (barbarian as anger, monk as worldliness), how they would dispatch a foe (barbarian as killing in their rage, monk as choosing pacifism and surrender), and who they'd become (barbarian as merciless and monk as the martyr). this is just an attempt to keep your quiz balanced, even though no quiz is balanced haha. the large uquizzes i think are "more" balanced in that while there will be the most popular results (druid and bard for this quiz), the percent of people getting that result is much lower than if you only had 5-10 possible results.
so you've picked your possible results, considered how they can be divided into categories, considered what questions address those categories, and made sure each question has balanced answers. in a large quiz which is going to have a lot of questions, making sure the quiz doesn't feel exhausting to take is huge, and the ordering/phrasing of your questions plays a large role in this. you don't want too many possible answers per question (i feel like 4-5 is a sweet spot, or 2 if it's sort of a rapid fire question), but you also want your quiz taker to feel like an answer represents them. make sure your answers are distinct and clear. play around with how you write them -- you can make one sound more confident and one sound more hesitant to get at the psyche of your quiz taker. try not to make any of them sound too negative. while objectively some people are more selfish than others, for example, you'd want to phrase a result that's like "I keep it all for myself" to something more like "I make sure my needs are addressed first." you could also develop a sort of "narrative" to your quiz as a way to keep people entertained (which i tried to do with my dnd and atla quizzes). don't put questions with a lot of possible answers right next to each other; if you feel like you've had your quiz takers really need to contemplate a lot of questions, throw in a "rapid fire" one that doesn't take a lot of thought. this could be something as simple as whether they're a day or night person, whether they're an extrovert or an introvert, whether they prefer coke or pepsi... something that people tend to know about themselves already or it's clear which answer they should pick.
the final piece of advice i have is for the result descriptions. these can be EXHAUSTING to write. when you have 100+ or even 400+ possible outcomes, writing each one individually will probably make you want to die. come up with a template for each so you're only writing 1-2 unique sentences. i tend to write a sentence for each category of the result, and then a descriptor that combines the two. for the dnd quiz, there were so many possible options that i didn't even do that LOL but also i figured that most people were familiar enough with dnd that the results could speak for themselves... so for example:
~
[You are a halfling fighter.] <- standard
[The halfling are cheerful folk who foster tight-knit communities. They strive to find peace, happiness, and good company, able to feel at home anywhere so long as there is a warm fire and plenty of laughter.] <- halfling description
[Those of them who choose the path of a fighter are the most practiced of all: they are masters of their chosen weaponry and battle tactics, willing to push themselves to their full potential.] <- fighter description
~
or, the reason why it took me so long to finish the daemon quiz remake:
~
[Your daemon would take the form of a cuckoo!] <- standard
You are a
[resourceful and aloof individual who knows how to get the best payoff with the least amount of work]. <- unique, cardinal traits of the overall result
More so than others with [strisore] daemons, those with
[cuckoos are manipulative and know what others want to hear. They are faithful to themselves and their intuitions, and they are extraordinarily clever people who are excellent at problem-solving.] <- unique, cardinal traits of the secondary quiz
[When deciding on your daemon's appearance, consider your cuckoo's coloring and species. A darker-colored cuckoo may indicate an individual who is more cunning and private, while a lighter-colored cuckoo may indicate an individual who is more sly and charismatic.] <- copied between birds that have dark/light plumage shades
[If you're happy with your daemon's form, give them a name. Daemon names can be any length but are typically something unique. Play around with names and sounds until you find something that speaks to you!] <- standard
~
find what works for you, but honestly the longest part of these quizzes is entering all of the possible results and writing the end descriptions. the excel sheet is actually my favorite part, and then the real works starts haha. usually once i start entering the quiz, i play around with the order of questions and tend to rephrase things, and sometimes need to go back to my excel sheet if i decide to scrap a question or completely change an answer. but generally i've found that this is the process that works the smoothest!
hope this helps, looking forward to your quiz! :)
