Your liberated country wants to be in a musical. You who liberated it are stuck tormented in a noir. This does rise above being a rare and curious movie from an interesting point in history, however slightly. It's strength lies in depicting that separation between those irretrievably affected and those not, hidden pasts behind public faces, lines and networks of emotion and desperation charted underneath. It's a movie potentially aware and cynical, and one would hope that would carry through the rollout of Indonesian history with its new orders, purges, foreign interventions, East Timors, etc. I'm not sure that those movies would be funded, though.

HAPPY 20TH ANNIVERSARY SRMTHFG!!!!

To celebrate this special occasion, I joined this lovely Zine with these lovely people, so here’s my full piece. Can’t believe this was my first ever Zine, and with something that I love to this day! SRMTHFG was a series that as I got older got to appreciate more and just have fun (and realize how dark this show is). And while this show never got its proper ending, I hope someday it does and glad it brought me and other people together.

And what better way than showing some love to the lovable robot girl, Jinmay! Even better, making desserts themed for the anniversary and some other foods like clam chowder.

Am working on a bonus aside to continue this, but been working on other stuff outside this big project. Just excited too finally share what I’ve been working on for months, and doing OTHER projects on the side :)

I can't thank everyone who worked on this project enough for bringing their absolute finest work to this zine to celebrate Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!'s 20th anniversary! All these years later, it's still the best fandom ever. We wanted this to be digital-first so we could release it right on the anniversary, but we are planning a physical release and will let you know when we have the details all worked out!

i heard this the other day, it was awesome hearing everything about adam “dj-am” goldstein,it’s worth hearing , i didn’t know him personally but i admired him and respected his sobriety/ work ethic,his girls he’d be getting,his character ,it was awesome following him around online , my life was getting wrecked but it was still good to be able to follow his life, i got to talk to his sister lara and meet his moms, she was awesome too, it was my privilege to do his fanpage i did online. i had a horrible accident in 2018, i lost most of my memory of the last few years, was in a coma for a few months, a car hit me in my car in my head , my whole left side got jacked up, i should post about that with some pics, hopefully soon , but yes this is a good update about kevin scott,adam goldstein “DJAM”& everything he’s done & does.

Usmar Ismail - After the Curfew (1954)

Album time!

So yesterday, to catch up, was Djam Leelii by Baaba Maal and Mansour Seck. This is the exact kind of stuff I listen to these albums for. Stuff I hadn't heard of, would NEVER have heard of because it's way outside my bubble, and even if I understood exactly zero words from the lyrics it's still just a good listening experience. If you like pretty chill vibes, and ESPECIALLY if you're an American listener like me where there's not a chance in hell you would have heard this already, you should 1,000,000% listen to this. I promise you'll have a good time. 4/5.

And today, I have White Blood Cells by The White Stripes. White Stripes are a cool band who I can't think of a single song of theirs I'd describe as bad. This album is good. Minimum of a four here, but there's one thing that rubs me the wrong way and keeping me from giving it a five without hesitation. "We're Going To Be Friends." It's a great song. Love it. Heard it a million times. But on this album? Fucking JARRING in the worst way. It's all hard rock, noise and distortion, all gas no brakes, just tons of energy... and then this song comes in and you get emotional whiplash. And then it goes right back to the harder stuff like nothing happened. I want to be clear, this is a petty complaint. The album is great. You should listen. I'm reasonably confident that the band had an actual artistic purpose FOR that whiplash. Would be very surprised if they didn't. I just am not sure what that purpose is and I don't really like it. Still a 4/5 for sure though.
