Hello, DinCobb Nation!
Today's the first official day of the DinCobb Fall Fest Mini Big Bang! This event will feature a more theme oriented big bang as we enter the fall season. This includes but is not limited to:
Halloween - Costumes, trick o' treating, scary movies
Fall Aesthetic - Pumpkins, apples, colder weather
Spooky - Ghosts, monsters, hauntings
Other Fall Holidays: Rosh Hashanah, Día de Muertos, Diwali
Sign Ups Open
What is a mini big bang?
Well, it's like a big bang but smaller. The goal of this event is to have authors produce a fic that's between 2 and 5 thousand words. During one of the check-ins, authors submit fic drafts/summaries and artists will create something to go with the fic they were paired with.
Can I sign up as both an artist and an author?
Yes! There is the option to do both in this event.
What if I have other questions?
Feel free to ask a mod (either @cryptids-and-starlight or myself) OR check out additional details under the read more.
What's the event schedule?
The entire event will run from August 13 to November 17. For a larger break down, check the post out here.
Additional Event Information
Here are details for what will be expected of authors and artists in terms of contributions. This event is meant to be fun and low stakes for those who participate. If the information below does not answer any of your questions, please reach out to a mod and we can answer your question!
For Writers:
The fic must be about Din and Cobb, but authors are free to explore what that relationship looks like to them whether they're depicted as best friends, brothers in arms, lovers, queer platonic partners, and more.
2-5k word count. Although it is not limited to 5k.
A beta reader is highly recommended, though not a requirement. If you need help finding a beta reader, please reach out and we will do our best to connect you with one.
Workshopping will be allowed and encouraged in public discord servers and elsewhere, just refrain from sharing the whole fic with anyone but your beta reader(s) and artist.
All fics must be thoroughly and properly tagged and rated. This is the one hard rule that will be enforced, as it is something that protects both artists and readers
All fics must be posted to AO3 and included in the event collection (DinCobb Fall Fest Mini Big Bang). You may cross post to tumblr if you would like to, too! More info about posting requirements to come at a later date.
For Artists:
One art piece is required for each fic. But you are encouraged to do more if you would like.
Art can be anything as long as the artist and author agree to the medium of choice which can include any of the following: gif sets, music vids, playlists, podfic, moodboards, artwork, etc.
Art should be kept between artist and author (unless you need advice on anatomy or help with audio edits or something, in which case please keep it between the artist and whoever is helping out)
Other Topics:
Dropping will not incur a formal penalty. It is heavily encouraged you reach out to the appropriate people (ie. a mod) ASAP so a pitch hitter can be found in a timely manner.
The last drop out day with no questions asked is September 30. If you need to drop out past this day, inform a mod immediately. Keep in mind that extensions can also be made if it is needed.
Things that may get you removed from the event include: not including proper tags/ratings, not responding in a timely manner during check-ins or if a mod reaches out to you, harassing other participants in any way whatsoever

Girl where have you been how are you how's the weather treating you what's new
hello hello!
i'm alright now. the burnout got a little burny-outy about two weeks ago, so i took a bit of a break from the internet. tried to go back to the basics: you know, just reading, trying to write, trying to get work done and so on. that, and the diwali break have helped, and i feel much more equipped to handle the next three weeks that i am truly not looking forward to.
i'm reading the tribe right now, which is about cuba and the long long tail of the cold war. i've been listening to a lot of boygenius and a lot of GUTS, and truly enjoying the rock/rock-adjacent area i'm currently in.
and how are you!

Reflections on Weathering a Storm.
I ate a lot yesterday and went to sleep at a ridiculous time. I woke up (late) to a sunny autumnal day. I felt good today. Better than I have done all week. Some sense of stress or pain seems to have lifted or at least eased.
I think cutting myself slack this week on the diet front (and to some degree on the workout front too) has both been necessary and beneficial. A wise decision - as long as I get back on track soon.
I guess I was more stressed out and depressed than I wanted to admit to myself.
I've been avoiding people too this week. Because I know I needed time to myself, and that also has been the correct decision. Sure, maybe talking to people would have been helpful. This coming week I will have to reach out and make whatever amends are necessary. People are either going to understand or not understand, and I'll deal with the consequences either way.
I'm still fighting the temptation of eating sugar. The temptations are much more muted than when I started the sugar-free protocol, but they are still there. I find myself thinking about or tempted to buy cookies, chocolates and of course Indian Sweets.
It hasn't even been a full week since I decided to start the sugar-free protocol, so I guess that's not a surprise. It's interesting to note that it feels like its been longer than a week already.
Today was another day of pretty much no restraint on the food front - apart from the no processed sugar rule of course. I also decided not to buy fries and instead just eat some oven baked wedges - which was a good decision and required almost zero willpower.
Taking photos of everything I have been eating recently - or at least trying to do so - has been a great decision. It's one thing to look at some text in a food tracking app about what you've been eating, and its an entirely other thing to see visual evidence of your choices. I was looking back in the Photos app on Mac, of the past couple of weeks of photos and I can really see how I have not been making the kind of food choices I would make when I was really being successful and diligent in cutting.
I still haven't updated my most important diet and fitness tracking systems. I will do that tomorrow - perhaps first thing.
I also need to start putting more controls back on my diet. My mood is significantly better, and whilst I'll be checking in with myself on this over Diwali, I do want to get back on track with my fitness goals.
So from tomorrow:
no more crisps (chips)
no more fried indian snacks
start eating meals which are more like my typical cutting diet
eat more veggies
eat more berries
eat more egg whites
start focussing on consistently hitting my protein target
ease up on drinking calories (reduce intake of whole milk, switch back over to coconut milk)
sort out my sleep
start meditating again - 1 x 20 min session every day
slowing reign in the calorie intake, keeping an eye on my mood, mindset, stress and general well being.
I think I'm past the worst part of the emotional turbulence this time of year can bring me. I know I'll have one more rough spot before Christmas and New Year, so I want to get back "locked in" on hitting my fitness and other goals.

HOLIDAY EVENT 2023 @mischicvous ( ft. Zach )
Nishant decided that it was for the best to have a few nights of holiday fun, before the December full moon would take all his time and brain power away. His parents never came over for Christmas, or Diwali, usually only for Holi, if the weather was good enough for them. So instead he was braving the semi-cold of Fenrir's Wood by himself. He'd dressed up far too warmly for the rainy English weather.
He picked up a glass of beer at one of the stands, some home brew IPA that he was probably far too interested in. He needed alcohol. But before he took a sip, he saw a familiar figure. "Zach! Hi! Long time now see!"

🎀 for Theo?
Thanks for the ask! From this ask game.
🎀 Do they wear a specific accessory with a special meaning behind it? What is their usual fashion sense like? What do they wear when they want to be comfortable and what do they wear when they’re going to a fancy party? Or do they just not care?
He wears a collar constantly, because he had to wear one for years, he's supposed to as a Pet, and although Anita doesn't force him to now, he can't bear to take it off. Having his collar taken off means he'll be hurt, after all, and that he's unwanted. When he's out he has a harness with writing on that he's deaf, and not to touch (it isn't always a deterrent, but the woman at the shop recommended it to attach his legally-required leash to, because it's less likely to hurt if someone pulls on it – which has happened, much to his and Anita's dismay). He also has a growing collection of scarves, which are warm and comfortable and stop random people touching his collar.
Oh, and ever since he started living with Anita he's worn hats when going out during the day, to stop random fans of Adam and Eleanor harassing him, Anita and Indira.
He likes wearing t-shirts and tracksuit bottoms or jeans, and an oversized hoodie if it's cold (which it often is for him, he's sensitive to the cold). And either boots or trainers, depending on the weather/time of year.
Most of the time he doesn't care what he wears, he prefers to be comfortable, but his nicest outfit is the dhorti kurta Anita and Indira bought him for his first Diwali with them (well, the first he was able to celebrate – not actually his first year there), and if it's something he really cares about, like a festival Anita and Indira are celebrating, he'll wear that.

Exploring the Different Styles of Ganesh Marble Statues
Ganesh, the revered Hindu deity symbolizing wisdom, prosperity, and the remover of obstacles, is widely celebrated through intricate and elegant sculptures. Among these, Ganesh marble statues hold a special place due to their timeless appeal, durability, and the craftsmanship they exhibit. Whether used for worship, as decorative pieces, or gifted during festivals, these statues reflect devotion and artistic excellence.
The art of creating ganesh marble statue has evolved over centuries, giving rise to various styles that cater to different tastes and cultural preferences. From the serene meditative poses to the dynamic depictions of Lord Ganesh slaying demons or blessing devotees, each style has its own significance.
Tumblr media
The Classic White Marble Ganesh Statues
One of the most sought-after styles is the classic white marble Ganesh statue. Renowned for its simplicity and purity, these statues often feature intricate carvings that highlight the deity’s facial expressions and ornate jewelry. Ganesh marble statues manufacturers craft these pieces with an eye for detail, ensuring that every fold of the attire and every curve of the trunk is meticulously sculpted. These statues are ideal for home mandirs, offices, and temples, exuding a sense of tranquility and devotion.
The Ganesh Lakshmi Marble Statue
A unique variation is the ganesh lakshmi marble statue manufacturer, which brings together Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. This style is particularly popular during Diwali, a festival that celebrates abundance and success. Ganesh Lakshmi statues are often adorned with vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and detailed ornamentation. These statues not only serve as spiritual icons but also as exquisite decor pieces for homes and workplaces.
Contemporary Ganesh Marble Statues
In addition to traditional designs, contemporary styles have gained popularity. These include abstract or modern representations of Lord Ganesh, with minimalist features or innovative postures. Ganesh marble statue exporters cater to international markets by blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities, appealing to a global audience.
Painted Ganesh Marble Statues
Another fascinating style is the painted Ganesh marble statue. While the natural white marble retains its elegance, adding colors brings a vibrant energy to these statues. Artists use eco-friendly paints to depict Lord Ganesh’s crown, jewelry, and attire in rich hues, making them visually striking. These styles are often chosen for festive occasions and ceremonial purposes.
Customization and Personalization
For those seeking something unique, many manufacturers and exporters offer customization services. Buyers can collaborate with artisans to create personalized designs, incorporating specific details such as family initials, particular postures, or thematic elements. Reputable Ganesh marble statues manufacturers ensure that these bespoke creations maintain the highest quality and artistic integrity.
The Role of Jaipur in Ganesh Marble Statues
Jaipur, known for its rich heritage in marble artistry, stands out as a hub for Ganesh marble statue exporters and manufacturers. The city’s artisans are celebrated for their exceptional skills and the use of high-grade Makrana marble, which ensures durability and aesthetic appeal. From small tabletop statues to life-sized marvels, Jaipur offers a wide array of options for every need.
Caring for Your Ganesh Marble Statue
To preserve the beauty and longevity of your Ganesh marble statue, proper care is essential. Regular cleaning with a soft cloth and mild detergent can help maintain its shine. Avoid exposing the statue to harsh weather conditions or direct sunlight to prevent discoloration.
Conclusion
Ganesh marble statues are more than just sculptures; they are embodiments of devotion, artistry, and cultural significance. Whether you prefer a traditional white marble statue, a vibrant painted version, or a contemporary piece, the styles available cater to diverse preferences. With the expertise of skilled Ganesh marble statues manufacturers and Ganesh Lakshmi marble statue manufacturers, finding the perfect piece for your home or temple has never been easier. Delhi Air Pollution Crisis: AQI Exceeds 1,000 in Multiple Regions
The national capital Delhi plunged deeper into an environmental crisis this morning. Several areas recorded Air Quality Index (AQI) readings exceeding 1,000, marking one of the worst air pollution episodes of the year. The situation has prompted health warnings and emergency measures across the city.
Monitoring stations in Anand Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, and RK Puram showed AQI readings of 1,042, 1,019, and 1,007 respectively, far beyond the 'hazardous' threshold of 300. These readings indicate air quality conditions that can cause serious respiratory issues even in healthy individuals.
"The situation is particularly concerning because these levels are nearly twice what we consider hazardous," says Dr. Rajesh Kumar, a leading pulmonologist at AIIMS Delhi. "We're seeing a significant increase in emergency room visits related to respiratory issues, especially among children and elderly residents."
The toxic smog, visible as a thick grey blanket over the city, has reduced visibility to less than 200 meters in many areas, affecting road and air traffic. Local authorities have advised residents to stay indoors and wear N95 masks when stepping out.
Multiple factors have contributed to this severe pollution spike, including: Stubble burning in neighboring states, Vehicle emissions,, Construction dust Unfavorable weather conditions trapping pollutants, Post-Diwali firecracker residue.
In response, the Delhi government has implemented emergency measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP): Closure of primary schools, Ban on construction activities, Restrictions on vehicular movement, Increased water sprinkling on roads, Enhanced parking fees to discourage private vehicle use.
"We're facing a public health emergency," says Environmental activist Sunita Narain. "While emergency measures are necessary, we need long-term solutions involving coordination between multiple states and sustained action throughout the year."
The India Meteorological Department forecasts that the situation might improve marginally over the weekend as wind speeds are expected to pick up, helping disperse pollutants. However, experts warn that without addressing root causes, such severe pollution episodes will continue to plague the capital.
Residents are advised to: Minimize outdoor activities, Use air purifiers, indoors Wear appropriate masks when outside,, Stay hydrated, Seek medical attention if experiencing respiratory distress.
As Delhi grapples with this environmental crisis, the incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive air quality management strategies and better interstate coordination to address this annual public health challenge.
