The Tao teaches us to be selfless because we have no physical existence. We can't even be attracted to fame or fortune. The self is simply the ego seeking its own pleasure. We cannot be tempted to pursue these things, but we must still be compassionate towards others. The self is not the most important thing in the world. We need to be aware of our thoughts and actions, and the thoughts of others are important. The Tao teaches us to be selfless by reminding us that everything is connected. In the universe, the sun is the highest reality. The earth, which is the lowest level, is the most powerful force, sustaining the entire universe. The sun, which is a divine being, burns all things in the universe. The earth is the most compassionate and forgiving thing on earth, sustaining life and allowing others to live. All things are interdependent, and no one can take them away. The earth, which is a natural gift, doesn't seek its own survival. In Taoism, the Tao teaches us to live in harmony with the world, in accordance with its laws. The chi energy flows through all levels of existence, allowing us to become one with the universal order and attain eternal life. In this way, we learn how to become one with the Tao and become part of its divine nature.
