Rewatching An Extremely Goofy Movie and I think it’s definitely gotten better over time. I still like the original Goofy Movie more, but the sequel exceeds in the comedy, especially in the animation for the villain:

Doing some research, it looks like most of these shots were animated by Adam Murphy, an animator that worked at DisneyToon Studios, a former satellite studio in Australia that provided animation for various episodes of Disney Afternoon shows and direct-to-video sequels.

Quick ramble about The Tigger Movie (2000)!!
It’s the little things in animation that make all the difference! Take this scene from The Tigger Movie for example! Not only do I love it for reasons ™️ but I also love the facial animation on these characters! And it’s more noticeable and has much more variety by looking at it through each frame that makes it stand out!
Here in this clip we can see Rabbit slowly back up as Tigger approaches him but quickly warms up and it’s subtle but his ears get more straight and less bent before Tigger leaped into the hug. The noticeable change into a smile on Rabbit’s face is also there once we see him warm up! And once Tigger gives him that hug, the animation is much more quicker and fluid for that bit!
I could talk about this movie all day if I got the time but this is how I’ll start out!

Disneytoon: Scrooge McDuck —Aesthetic
Tumblr media
Scrooge McDuck's Character & Personality
Scrooge is a Scottish man who's "the richest duck in the world". He's Donald's miserly uncle. The business tycoon banker is also Huey, Dewey and Louie's great uncle. Scrooge earned his wealth through years of hard work, well-utilized intelligence, perseverance and extreme thriftiness. He's an adventurer and opportunist. As a treasure hunter, Scrooge has gone to exotic corners of the world in search of wealth. His expertise and lucrative business methods have put him leagues beyond his competition. Scrooge carries this reputation with pride. He has a great love for various riches. Thus, Scrooge is frugal. He goes to great lengths to spend as little money as possible. In putting much time and dedication into increasing his wealth, he's somewhat of a lone cheapskate. Cold and nearly unforgiving, Scrooge is protective of his fortune. He rarely hesitates to use violence against those who provoke his ire. As such, Scrooge is extremely mistrustful of anyone trying to enter his office. For a long time, he practically lived alone and had little contact with his family after gaining wealth. This partially plays into his bitterness. Over time, Scrooge slowly opened himself up to his four nephews and became more compassionate with them. He's still greedy, hot-tempered and an imposing figure at times. However, Scrooge is essentially good-hearted and well-meaning. He values honesty and fair play, believing great fortune should be squarely earned. While Scrooge can be selfish at times, he'll never leave someone behind in urgent need. Beyond his riches, his exploits provided valuable lessons in practical and moral sense. With age, Scrooge became wise and knowledgeable. He regularly puts this wisdom to use when raising his nephews and shows pride in their eagerness to learn the value of a dollar.

Chicken Little 2 Animatic (Clip)
youtube
I can't believe someone find the animatics for the cancelled Chicken Little direct-to-dvd sequel. This is so cool, and its great to see the amount of fans this movie have coming out recently. Our little feathered hero, deserves more love!

I’ve been watching the Planes movies quite a bit recently (positive perils of having younger siblings lol) and to me Dusty Crophopper’s character progression from his racing movie to the Fire and Rescue movie feels so odd.
like we go from this guy who’s sometimes really confident in his skills, and sometimes doubts them, but is overall humble about them and is surprised when other people who aren’t his friends like him/believe in him.
BUT THEN in Planes Fire and Rescue (which I might say morally was a ‘worse’ movie, but I loved the setting and new characters more) he is SOOOOO arrogant and prideful, especially towards Blaze. Especially that scene when Skipper, Sparky, Chuck and Dotty just told Dusty that his gearbox was gone, and he disregarded Blaze’s orders and was super prideful and didn’t care at all about his or Blaze’s safety. And while he does ‘redeem’ himself by saving the RV’s later, it doesn’t feel like that specific character issue was never resolved.
idk, I might be blowing this out of proportion a bit, I haven’t had this theory for more than 10 mins and might change my mind after thinking about it more, but i was wondering if you had any thoughts. (Great analysis of Mufasa and Silva btw!)
I haven’t seen Planes yet! The animation geek in me knows that Christian Disney animator Mark Henn pitched the original idea for Planes, but then they told him it was too much like Cars, and passed on it…but then went ahead and made it without letting him direct later on. So that sort of left a bad taste in my mouth. But I remember being surprised and impressed by the trailer for the “fire & rescue” one because it looked so dramatic, back when it was coming out. So I’ll watch them and then come back and see what stuck with your thoughts! I’m sure you’re not blowing it out of proportion
