He's the reason this show exists. Louis D'Esposito (co-president of Marvel Studios) showed him the comic when trying to get a collaboration with Fishburne's production company and Fishburne actually used to read the original Moon-Boy and Devil Dinosaur comics by Jack Kirby. He really liked them and got the idea to make an animated show about the series. He got Steve Loter who used to work on Kim Possible to help develop and Loter and his team made a rollerskating video with Sweatpants by Childish Gambino to pitch to Disney (which was used in the 3rd episode). He's also amazing as the Beyonder. Everyone should go watch Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur! It's got heart, great humor, awesome fight scenes, and some great representation! With the Owl House, Amphibia, and now The Ghost and Molly McGee over (😭), we can't lose this too.
[Photo ID: the poster for season two of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The poster has a gold and light purple border with blue stars and gold star sparkles and in the center there is a large black rectangle featuring (clockwise from top left to center): Casey Calderon (Lunella's best friend and "manager". She is an original character for the show. Disney Wiki describes her as "a short 13-year-old Puerto-Rican-Jewish girl with brown skin, long black hair, and noticeably big black eyes. She possesses blush, lip gloss and nail polish, all colored in a coral-pink. She wears a blue shirt with a white collar, a black belt, and blue shorts with two large pockets in them. Additionally, she has large black shoes with white socks and wears gold hoop earrings." She is posing with her arms up and her pointer fingers pointed to the left, her right eye closed, looking pumped), Kid Kree (13 year old Kree warrior in training who is from the "Cosmic Cooties" storyline from her original series. He has blue skin and is wearing black, grey, and teal armor that covers everything but his mouth and has a black mohawk. His armor has this star/diamond like shape on it. He is smiling evil and is pointing his left arm put, his hand in a fist like he's gonna shoot a laser cannon), on the bottom we have some of the supporting characters all of whom are wearing a black "IS 833" shirt and striking different poses, which is the name of the school: a black girl kneeling down with a smug "whatever expression" with her hands up and flat like an "I don't know" pose, her black hair is partially down partially up in a bun and wearing long navy green pants, a lighter skinned person with shorter brown hair that spikes out on top, their right hand at their side, and their doing a peace sign salute with their left hand, in between these two groups is the Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur logo, then left of that is a boy in a wheelchair with brown shorts and short dirty blonde hair who's doing a similar pose to Casey but with his hands flat, a girl with dark long brown hair wearing blue, square glasses, an orange beanie, and long grey pants, her arms are crossed and she's doing a thinking pose, up to center left is the Beyonder (tall, skinny, sharp, dark orange skinned man wearing a mostly white but some black suit with blue quaffed hair, his fingers are very long and pointed almost like a claw, smilingly almost evilly with his right hand up like he wants you to give him a high five), in the center is Moon Girl (Lunella Lafayette, 13 year old black girl, short wearing her purple and yellow costume that has her dark brown hair sticking out as a ponytail, her mouth is the only thing visible and her goggles have a virtual eye shape that's like rectangles pointed up slightly. She's giving a triumphant stance, her mouth open wide in a smile, her hands in two fists pointed up), lastly is Devil Dinosaur (Large red T. Rex with black spots on his back, the way his scales look it's like he has little Devil horns on his head, he is wearing some kind of contraption as a backpack that gives him a mechanical left hand and the other is a three barrel gun that shoots the blue goop that traps people on bubbles). There is a large gold star behind both of them. On the bottom of the poster on the left is a stack of books behind a little Devil Dinosaur plushie and on the right is various beakers with a bubbling light teal liquid plus a little spherical gadget that is kinda shaped like Moon Girl. In the middle, the poster says that new episodes start on Disney Channel on Friday February 2 at 8pm and then on Disney plus the next day and below that it says OnDisneyPlus.Disney.com

Hello sorry to bother you with this all of sudden ,and this might be coming out of nowhere, and I’m not trying to force you but I m trying to get more people into this show with great potential. If your not interested it’s fine but Have you heard of or watched moon girl and devil dinosaur? Season 2 comes out February 2.
The main character i love she gives me autistic vibes I’m autistic. The show has interesting characters, action ,great music, and animation ,good themes and representation, Anime references, it even has an eyecatch season 2 is going to be more story driven if you find that interesting. It be good if you watch the first 2 season 2 episode when they air so the ratings will be higher. And watch the other season 2 episodes when they air.
I think Disney might be trying to sabotage the show with them probably dropping 14 episodes on Disney + on February 3. They did similar with season 1 and the ratings where low ,please watch season 2 episodes when they air on. But more importantly also watch it on Disney + on feb 3 and when they air it on YouTube. Unfortunately they are dropping 14 episodes on Disney + so watch them all in one day but also when they air the first time.
I’m not just saying only cable just also. I’m saying please support this show. Despite that it still won 5 Emmys. Also if it’s no trouble could if it alright with you spread the word about this show to others you know like either online or irl. Time is limited!
Tumblr media
I know of the show, but I haven't seen it. I don't have cable so I just watch everything on Disney+.
BTW, did you guys know that Laurence Fishburne is in this show? Morpheus from The Matrix. Isn't that crazy?

Enemies to Lovers | Larry Fanfic Recs
Walk That Mile by purpledaisy | 149k | Explicit
Harry stares at him, the line of his jaw standing out scarily. “I wanted to get the most out of this trip so I planned it carefully.” His voice is low and steady and somehow that’s worse than when he was yelling. “So far, you’ve put your sticky fingers on everything I’ve tried to do.”
“Sticky fingers?” Louis repeats, offended. “Are you saying it’s my fault you got stung by a bee? Had you been alone you would have gotten halfway to the Dotty Diner and ran the car off the road because of an allergic reaction, so don’t go blaming me.”
“Polk-A-Dot Drive In,” Harry spits before getting out of the car. He slams the door shut with a deafening reverb and Louis rolls his eyes.- A Route 66 AU where falling in love was never part of the plan.
Unbelievers by isthatyoularry | 136k | Explicit
It’s Louis’ senior year, and he’s dead set on doing it right. However, along with his pair of cleats, a healthy dose of sarcasm and his ridiculous best friend, he’s also got a complicated family, a terrifyingly uncertain future, and a mortal enemy making his life just that much worse. Mortal enemies “with benefits” was not exactly the plan.
Or: The one where Louis and Harry definitely aren’t friends, and football is everything.
we're not friends, we could be anything by nooelgallagher, yoursongonmyheart | 115k | Explicit
Louis narrows his eyes at Harry. “What that supposed to be a fucking joke?”
Harry narrows his eyes right back. “It was a good joke.”
Louis rolls his eyes. “Jokes require laughter, Curls.” Louis glances down at Harry’s thighs again, Christ. “Your pants must be so tight they’re restricting airflow to your brain.”
Harry wipes a bead of sweat off his forehead. “Pretty sure yoga is supposed to increase airflow, blood flow, and all that,” he responds dryly, finally jumpstarting himself and walking away from Louis towards his own bedroom.
Louis can’t help but stare at his broad back, still sheen with drying sweat, and his perky bum in the tight yoga pants.
Louis swallows. Christ.
...Or, the one where Harry and Louis are unlikely uni flatmates who definitely don't like each other and definitely won't fall in love (even if Liam and Niall think otherwise).
Our Lives, Non-Fiction by indiaalphawhiskey | 113k | Explicit
Heralded as the next Neil Gaiman, Louis Tomlinson does not appreciate being told that his very serious novel is in dire need of a PR boost. Even worse, that it comes in the form of a joint book tour with the UK’s #1 online romance-writing sensation Marcel Styles. Already turbulent at best, their partnership takes a drastic turn when, overly stressed about his looming deadline, Marcel accidentally blurts out a secret: though he’s famed for his scorching hot literary love scenes, he is, actually, a virgin.
Convinced that the only way to rid himself of writer’s block is to gain some experience, Marcel asks Louis, author-to-author, to sleep with him – for Science. And of course Louis agrees because, well, what on Earth could possibly go wrong?
Or, a lesson in romance that proves that sometimes the best love stories aren’t always by the book.
Soft Hands, Fast Feet, Can't Lose by dolce_piccante | 112k | Mature
American Uni AU. Harry Styles is a frat boy football star from the wealthy Styles Family athletic dynasty. A celebrity among football fans, he knows how to play, he knows how to party, and he knows how to fuck (all of which is well known among his legion of admirers).
Louis Tomlinson is a student and an athlete, but his similarities to Harry end there. Intelligent, focused, independent, and completely uninterested in Harry’s charms, Louis is an anomaly in a world ruled by football.
A bet about the pair, who might be more similar than they originally thought, brings them together. Shakespeare, ballet, Disney, football, library chats, running, accidental spooning, Daredevil and Domino’s Pizza all blend into one big friendship Frappucino, but who will win in the end?
Dance to the Distortion by Lis (domesticharry) | 96k | Explicit
Louis accidentally breaks Harry's camera lens and in order to get it fixed, they decide to participate in a romantic couples study. The only issue is that they are not actually couple. Well that and the fact they cannot stand each other.
You’ve Got My Devotion (Hate You Sometimes) by lucythegoosey | 95k | Explicit
Harry was in the biggest boy band in the world. He was also one half of the best (or worst, depends on who you ask) kept secret relationship in the music industry.
Now, almost five years on, after One Direction has broken up, and Harry and Louis' relationship has as well, a video threatens to put everything at risk.
One determined Irishman, a massive publicity stunt and two begrudging exes are all it takes to bring One Direction back to life and maybe, just maybe, Harry and Louis' mangled love life too.
Or: Harry and Louis are forced to fake-date after an old video from when they were dating emerges.
The Sidelines by RedRidingStiles | 47k | Explicit
"Alright, I know you guys are the best of friends but I'd like you to do this for the rest of the team,” Cowell says, making the rest of the team snicker. "So I want both of you to compliment each other." "I hate your trainers. I mean that in the nicest way possible. They're very...yellow," Louis says, arms crossed as he offers a fake close-lipped grin. "It's really nice of you to blow anyone you find slightly attractive," Harry replies, a sickening sweet smile on his lips. "Thank you, children, let me remind you this is a college hockey team. Try again," Coach says, completely unamused.
Or Harry and Louis play hockey for Penn state and can't stand one another, since they can't keep their hatred off the ice their coach and team do what they can to keep their hard earned spot in the playoffs and their two star players from killing each other
Wonderwall by AFangirlFantasy | 43k | General Audiences
Taking the sheet cluttered with times available for the next few weeks, Louis notices a pattern in the list. The name of the person Perrie had just mentioned: Harry Styles. It’s written at least seven times, and three of which are during timeframes Louis wants.
“Who the fuck is Harry Styles?”
“You’re about to find out,” she answers, pointing over Louis’ shoulder.
Or a Love/Hate College AU where Louis Tomlinson is the lead singer of The Rogue - the most popular band on campus - and Harry Styles is the talented Freshman unknowingly challenging all that.
All the Right Moves by cherrystreet | 32k | Explicit
This is the third game in a row that Harry has been distracted by the noisy boy in the stands, five rows back.
There’s really no reason that he should feel compelled to stare into the audience as frequently as he is, but he can’t help it. This boy is a nuisance. And he’s loud. Even from basketball court with nine other players running by him, shoes squeaking on the shiny hardwood floor, and thousands of cheering college students, Harry can hear this boy nearly shrieking, his laugh more like a cackle than anything.
It’s seriously obnoxious.
Nicotine by KrisStylinson | 32k | Explicit
"We're two different types of people, Liam. He likes sex and drugs, I like theater and tea. Trust me, we'd never date." Except they would, they do, and neither of them plans on letting go anytime soon.
"Just because you can get me hard doesn't mean I like you," Louis whispered. The fact was, he didn't like Harry right now, not at all. Not even a bit.
"Yeah, yeah," Harry murmured, his breath fanning over Louis' cock as he spoke. "You done telling me how much you hate me so I can suck you off?"
Like Candy In My Veins by littlelouishiccups | 31k | Explicit
“Um…” Harry said slowly after a moment. “Okay. That’s… this is… Let me get this straight.” He lifted up a hand and swallowed. “You told your family that you have a boyfriend… and my name was the first one you thought of?” “Harry Potter was on TV, alright? It wasn’t that much of a stretch.” Louis pinched the bridge of his nose. He couldn’t believe he was explaining himself to Harry fucking Styles. He couldn’t believe he was stooping this low. “Forget it. I’m sorry I even thought about bringing you into this.”
Harry snorted. “What? Did you want me to pretend to be your boyfriend or something?”

“I have won, I won the final cross country. I win, Harry--”
“Whoever gets to fucking nationals wins it, pretty boy,” Harry teases. “You haven’t won. Interhouse is nothing compared to nationals, or interstate. You haven’t even won interschool. You can dream all you fucking want that you’ve won.”
Louis becomes so ignorant he decides to no longer eye the boy taunting him. “Trophies prove it all, Styles.”
“Where’s your trophy for biggest asshole?”
“Where’s yours for winning cross country?”
Harry growls before hooking his fingers in Louis’ belt loops and bringing them together for a flat kiss.
Or the AU where Louis and Harry are rivals of the century and Cross Country competitors before things get complicated and they play pretend.

“Should we tell him?”
When Lauren is met with everyone either nodding their heads or shrugging, she takes a deep breath. “I mean, I think it’s pretty obvious by now.” She stalls, sounding ominous and Louis doesn’t like it one bit.
“What is obvious by now?” Louis asks. He’s starting getting anxious. “I swear to God, spit it out. Stop being so damn cryptic.”
“I—We think it’s pretty obvious that you’re in love with Harry,” she states simply and shrugs as if she isn’t telling him he’s in love with the second—Nick being the first—most annoying person on the planet.

This time as his stomach rolls, there’s no doubt about it. He’s going to vomit. And if he does, it’ll be on Louis’ shoes, a nice little parting gift to go with the embarrassment he’s caused the both of them. “I’m gonna throw up,” he says just as Louis turns to look at him, blue eyes swimming with shock and confusion, and asks, “Is that true?”
Or, in a rush of bravery only senior year can bring, Harry confesses his feelings in a letter to his neighbor and best friend, Louis, only for the entire school to hear it and laugh him out of their small town in Wisconsin. Ten years later, Harry's a successful lawyer at Columbia Records, coming home for Christmas for the first time since he departed for college. Charlie
Uh... Hello? Anybody still here? I haven't been around in years and years. But I keep my fandoms stored in some corner of my brain waiting for something to tug them out. And of all things this time it was Taylor Swift re-releasing her old songs, because I used to imagine so many percabeth scenes listening to "Fearless". So have this little something that's been sitting unfinished in my archives for years now.
Remember that time Percy saw Sadie Kane and thought “Hey, this is what mine and Annabeth’s daughter would look like”? Yes.
(Also there are small nods to that fic I wrote about Logan, Hidden Heritage, but I've been meaning to re-write it someday because there were SO MANY PLOT HOLES omg)
When they find out it’s a girl it’s a bit too soon to know for sure, or so the doctor tells them. They’ll have to wait for the next appointment to know for certain. “So don’t go buying any tiny dresses yet,” he jokes and they laugh along, but they’ve been together for approximately eighteen years now, they can tell what the other’s thinking with a glance and the ecstatic grin that breaks through their lips lets him know they’re on the same page. Too late. They’re already thinking plush bow and arrows and a Merida costume for her first Halloween.
Percy tries to keep his cool. As the weeks progress, he tries not to get his hopes up, but in his heart he knows already. They hadn’t really had a preference before, they’d been too happy knowing their baby was fully human and had all its limbs (with the number of deities they’d pissed off, you never knew), but a little girl? It feels right after their two boys, it feels like their family will be complete.
(He thinks about a slight blonde girl with streaked hair and a British accent dropping from the sky on a magic camel, remembers thinking “if Annabeth and I had a daughter…” and his chest squeezes tight with happiness so raw he has a little trouble breathing)
When the doctor beams at them next appointment and says “Congratulations, Jackson family, it really is a girl,” he’s not surprised, but no less elated. He doesn’t hear the lame joke about Jackson Five, he’s too busy trying to be a manly man and not burst into tears because he’s going to have a daughter. When Annabeth’s in the other room paying for the appointment, and he’s waiting for the doctor to print the really impressive high tech 3D picture of the ultrasound, the man asks him “So did you go ahead and buy a tiny dress anyway?”
Percy blushes.
The man shakes his head in amusement. “Every time”.
His work colleagues, proud dads of little girls themselves, try to terrorize him with tales of tea parties and future boyfriends, and Percy thinks somewhere in the middle of all that teasing they mean well, but really, he’s mostly annoyed. It’s not like he’s new to parenthood, he’s got two sons already and they seem to be turning out okay, and before, when Logan and Nathan were just a nice dream for the future, there was Estelle, the little sister Percy had never expected, but loved to bits all the same.
And then Charlie is born.
She’s tiny, warm and pink, all curled up in her yellow cable-knit blanket, a tuft of blonde hair peeking out of a tiny, tiny beanie, features scrunched into the most adorable variation of a grumpy face. He’s not new to parenthood, he’s been here twice before, but the rush of affection and protectiveness and awe and raw love is just as genuine. He’s smiling like a dork, can’t seem to stop, walking from side to side, avidly searching her traits. She’s bigger than Nate was when he’d been born, but smaller than Logan. Her hair was light, like Nate’s, would it stay blonde or darken with time? Would her eyes be like his or Annabeth’s? And oh, she had her mother’s nose (they all did).
It never fails to amaze him how such a small, vulnerable being can shake up his whole world until it’s made a space for her. And he’s done this before, he’s no first time sailor this time, he’d thought he had it all under control. But she blinks and looks up at him with half-lidded eyes and a frowny face and—they’re green. Her eyes are the blue-green Logan’s are, Percy’s are.
(He’s got two sons who are his life, and he does love all his children equally, but holding his daughter for the first time, he thinks he understands his friends’ warnings. He doesn’t love her more, it’s just… different. It’s special.)
When he goes back to work, Nick takes one look at him and bursts into laughter. He claps him on the shoulder in commiseration.
“I told you.”
He’s completely wrapped around her finger already.
It’s not too different, he finds out. Especially having been pre-trained by Estelle. He’s got to brush up on his Disney princess knowledge, and hair braiding skills. He hasn’t gotten much better at color coordinating the polka dotted bows and tiny shoes, but Charlie is really forgiving. She is a very happy baby, much happier and easy going than any of the boys had been.
She’s also fucking crazy.
She is smaller and skinnier than her brothers, likes to wear frilly dresses and talk to plush animals and dance around the house in a pink tutu, but she’s wild. She never learned to crawl, just held on to the couch until she was wobbling on two feet, and it seemed like the very next day she was running across the house, the mall, the park, and if he turned his eyes away for one second, she was shooting off in the streets and nearly getting run over.
He’d found her dangling from the kitchen cabinets, trying to reach the cowering cat. She had a phase when she thought she could fly and she would climb furniture and stairs and the window sill and just… Launch herself into the air expecting her flying powers to manifest spontaneously. If they hadn’t been trying to raise them away from the whole mythological world, he would have sat her down and clarified that she had the wrong Olympian Grandparent in mind. She might have had more luck jumping into the ocean.
She had a way to jut out her lower lip, and turn those big green eyes on him that could render his every effort to be a responsible parental presence useless.
Besides, she was so funny. He could never muster enough anger to discipline her, because if he found her on the kitchen table covered in peanut butter, somehow sporting a very sticky Mohawk, and looking entirely unapologetic, well, he just couldn’t stop laughing.
One day he’s coming home from work and he hasn’t even pulled the key from the lock when Charlie calls out ‘you’re back daddy,’ in what sounds vaguely like a new jersey accent. He finds her sitting on the floor of the living room, drowning in one of Annabeth’s bathrobes, pink plastic barbie sunglasses on, holding a pooh bear sippy cup with one hand and a pinky stretched out.
“Charlie, what are you doing?”
“It’s wine Wednesday, daddy.”
“It’s what?”
“Wine Wednesday.”
He had half a mind to check if her sippy cup actually contained wine because they hid their alcohol way up in the cabinets she can’t reach but that girl could climb like a monkey. He knows he should follow that remark up with some kind of questioning of where she’d even heard of ‘wine Wednesdays’ and then explain that kids don’t drink wine or some other kind of responsible parent speech, but a sudden burst of incredulous laughter bubbles up in his throat and he takes refuge in the kitchen, lest he encourages her behavior.
He finds Annabeth there, hand over her mouth, clearly in stitches over their daughter’s performance. He wants to question if she gave her permission to wear her bathrobe but finding his wife nearly doubled over in silent laughter in the kitchen is too much and he finally lets out the guffaw he’d been trying to hold on to.
It’s not the first time Charlie leaves them breathless with laughter, and he’s almost scared of what she’s going to cook up in the future.
Charlie is a hellion.
There isn’t one person safe from her pranks, but she’s so adorable she hardly ever catches hell for it, and she’s learning to use it in her favor – thankfully, just in time for her parents to develop immunity to her puppy eyes. And she’s… difficult, yes, but not always, and not in a terrible way. For all her climbing the roof, organizing illegal cookie sales, getting in fights with her classmates, she’s not a bad kid. She’s got Percy’s penchant for befriending the kids no one wants to go near, and defending her ragtag team of losers. She’s loyal to a fault, and it gets her in trouble often.
She and Nate have epic jealousy fights over everything, including – but not limited to – Logan’s attention, the crayons, the biggest piece of cake and all the videogame characters in the world are not enough, they will always want whatever the other picked. It gives them many, many headaches. Logan, on the other hand, positively spoils her, and whenever Charlie gets in trouble they can be sure to find her hiding behind her big brother while he gives them this solemn look and says “It’s ok, mom and dad, Charlie promises she won’t do it again. We’ve talked.”
When the whole “Logan being attacked by a dracanae in school and thus finding out his Olympian heritage” debacle came to pass, and they started frequenting camp again, there was nowhere in the entire Camp Charlie would rather be than the stables. She’d spend hours there with the Aphrodite kids, brushing the pegasi and talking to them endlessly about all her classmates and her friends, and her dolls, and her new dress, and the new book grandma gave her. It was all really cute until Percy realized the pegasi were talking back, and she fully understood their replies.
And it’s funny, really, because Logan had taken after Percy, to a point where bathing him had been hard as a child because he tended to stay dry in the tub, and Nathan was Annabeth to a T, but Charlie was a perfect mix of them both.
He guesses it makes sense it would be so explosive.
When Charlie is twelve, she gets kicked out of school.
Percy is not overly worried about it himself – the number of schools he’d been kicked out of reached double digits, and this was only her first – but he is worried about how she will feel. Getting the boot from a place that’s housed you for years, where your friends are, where everyone already knows you and having to start over is never pleasant, no matter how used to it you were.
He’d expected the school to have gotten tired of all her pranks and misbehaving, which was fair, he guessed. But when Annabeth comes home from the meeting with the school director, she is seething, and not at their daughter. Charlie is angry too. In fact, it’s the first time he’s ever seen his daughter well and truly pissed off. The two of them are a sight for nightmares, both blondes standing side by side ranting with righteous fury, they look ready to start a revolution. What he gets from her angry snarls and Charlie’s rushed rambling is that Charlie had talked back to a teacher that was picking on the autistic kid and demeaning the thirteen year old who was repeating sixth grade.
She’d called him a brain-washing small minded overgrown bully who, he was quoting, didn’t get enough love from his parents.
And Percy is so proud his eyes even get a little misty.
Because he’s getting old and sentimental and raising kids is very hard. No one knows what they’re doing, not one person, not even the fancy psychologists with those books on raising perfect, well rounded, high-achieving members of society that Annabeth insisted on reading when she was pregnant with Logan. You do your best and you hope for the best, and you don’t know what you get until it’s basically too late to do anything about it. And even if he did have the best mom in the history of the entire world to draw example from, he was also half of an absent Olympian father whose heritage condemned him to dance in and out of battlefields half his life.
He’s always been terrified of being a crap father.
He looks at Charlie cussing out with every mild version of actual cuss words, stalking around the kitchen like a little lioness in a cage, furious at the unfairness of the whole situation, caring less about being expelled and more about who was going to defend her friends from that awful teacher when she’s gone.
His daughter is only twelve, but she’s already so brave, such a force of nature. She won’t stand for injustice, and she won’t take insult lying down. And she’s so kind. She’s growing up, and the person she is slowly turning out to be… is good.
And something in his heart shifts and settles down, smooths over old fears and anxious thoughts.
Percy doesn’t mean to brag, but he thinks he’s not doing half bad as a parent.

Mornings in Sheffield Park | TH - CHAPTER 1
The one with stress, takeout food around the world, late night walks, and Disney dreams.

Fourth week into the morning pitch meetings at BBC, Millie felt lifeless and drained. The room was usually exploding with ideas, creative energy, and a lot of constructive feedback to the few interns who were allowed to join the conversation with editors, writers, and producers. That morning had started ugly enough for her: with an overwhelming number of e-mails about the schedule and missing content for Politics Live.
When she first landed her spot at BBC, Millie was over the moon. She was constantly calling it a dream come true, a once in a lifetime opportunity for her to begin a writing career in media. Her degree seemed to be the best choice for her future and Millie was ready to prove that graduating from humanities can actually land her a decent job. Her first days were filled with morning preparations, early commute to the city centre and exceptionally smoothed out shirts. The work environment in such a fast-paced industry felt inspiring and daunting at the same time, but Millie felt obligated to use this experience to its full potential. Each day she attempted to learn more than the day before and possibly show off a tiny bit more of her creative skills to her superiors. She spent her evenings researching topics and people, trying not to fall out of the loop. Being one step forward was hard work, one that Millie desperately wanted to ace.
The second week of her internship brought a slight shift to her agenda. After grasping the general concepts of working for a major radio and TV broadcasting company, she was aware of the production processes. She tried to happily follow up all the details about the work of a writer, a researcher, or an editor – just so she could be prepared for the follow-up of the introductory week. And as she hoped her interview was remembered and she would soon contribute to any program touching upon music or pop culture, her dreams and calls were slowly fading away. The intern manager ascribed her to the team devoted strictly to politics and daily news, having no vacancies for the popular radio programs. Even though she took whatever spot was offered, it was only to get more insight and experience.
Having already managed to speak up a few times during the morning routines in the conference room, Millie eased herself into the work environment and was treated like a regular employee. But the first wave of success quickly passed, especially when she was hit with growing emptiness in her brain. She did not enjoy politics, so as far as she could, she attempted to sneak in a sociological aspect into the context. But her tactic had an expiration date.
A couple of heads were expectantly turned at Millie when she was unsurely stuttering her weak ideas for the upcoming programme. She knew it wasn’t going well and she was mentally cursing herself for trying to impress the producers that much so early on.
“This isn’t gonna work. We’ve covered this enough in the evening news. Let’s take five, and maybe you’ll come up with a different angle. I’ll give you another shot here.”
Hugh, the head writer took off his glasses and watched her fidget in her seat. She nodded and took a deep breath, before leaving the room for a short break. Her mind was racing in panic; she wasn’t ready to admit that she didn’t have any idea. She walked back and forth through the corridor until she cursed quietly and walked away to the main hall. She pulled her phone from the back pocket and without overthinking this anymore, she called her boyfriend. He picked up after the third ring.
“Babe, can I call you back…”
“No, Frank,” She felt determined and fierce. Her hands shook from the pure view on board members slowly coming back from the kitchen with fresh coffee mugs. They were probably waiting to hear her another take on the TV show which Millie, wholeheartedly, was beginning to hate. “My work on the programme is too basic and I’ve been roasted for the past fifteen minutes or so. Hugh has me in the spotlight in front of everyone. Help me, please?”
“It’s not your fault they’ve given you a job you’re not good at, babe. It’s just an internship, they will roast you anyway.”
Millie’s lungs were ready to stop working and suffocate her. She feared she might start hyperventilating, or at least meet up with a panic attack from the nerves. Franklin’s reaction seemed to be absolutely unfair and inconsiderate of her actual feelings, and he must have felt that through the piercing silence on the line.
“Look, I’m sorry, but you shouldn’t worry so much about it. They will probably just give you another placement where you’ll fit more, I don’t see why it’s such a bad thing.” And just like that, she started doubting herself and her right to overthink her situation. It didn’t sit well with Millie and she could feel anger slowly making its way through her veins.
“Can’t you just fucking help me? This one time?” She lost her temper, she lost her patience. At the same time Riley, one of the end writers, started waving at her from the end of the hall as to show her that her time is coming to an end. “I need a hook, or something that would spark a debate. Brexit-themed, maybe. Can you think of anything?”
Frank groaned loudly. He wasn’t exactly happy that she made him break down his ambitious wall and let her in on topics he was too invested in. Millie could hear him moving around as he left his desk of the equally large office of The Guardian, until the line went surprisingly quiet. Her anger and fear made her clutch her phone tightly to her ear, while her legs started carrying her slowly to the terrifying conference room.
“Think internationally. See what the Spanish had to say about May’s resignation from the Office. Think economics in the EU. Try to stand on the Union’s side and do some fair judgement.”
“Give me facts, not ideas. You’re the one who knows politics.”
“Spanish government says that May’s resignation is bad news. Compare it to the popular opinion that she was the worst Prime Minister since the 18th century and the American war on independence.” Millie breathed in, trying to desperately grasp all the details he just provided her with.
“That’s a… harsh and history-digging argument,” She mumbled in surprise, “where did you get that from?” She grabbed a yellow post-it note from the reception desk and quickly scribbled the key words on it. Her briefing on politics was never something like this and she could feel the embarrassment making its way into her heart. It wasn’t her way of thinking and she felt like a fraud.
“I can’t tell you that.” By the end of the single sentence Millie could feel the blood escaping her face, making her look pale and scared for dear life. She didn’t want to have heard that sentence, she was definitely happier not knowing how did he come up with a story like this. That was one of the many reasons she tried not to talk business with him.
“An opinion entry. A column for The Guardian. Shit, you just busted one of your colleagues.”
“Sometimes I hate it that you’re smart. Did I ever tell you that?”
“You just saved my internship!”
“Please don’t say that. I will pretend that we just talked about the weather.”
“I’ll spend them the details. You’re the best, Frank.”
“Alright, go kick ass.”
And that she did. Franklin did save her internship, mainly because Millie avoided the specifics about who and why said something so harsh about the resigning Prime Minister. However, it definitely did spark interest among the production board. Afraid of not being so lucky next time, she decided to politely suggest a replacement for her permanent internship division within BBC, due to her ‘personal discomfort with discussions over issues of such importance and potential shame to their glorious country.’
Millie felt bad for using her boyfriend’s knowledge for survival at work. She wasn’t genuine and her idea didn’t come from her hard work - it was sourced in fear and anxiety-driven reactions. This situation proved to her that she wasn’t fit for the position, but it also raised her stress levels around the fact that she couldn’t get by on her own in the industry. She didn’t want others to navigate her through it all, but the conversation she had with Frank had also made her uncomfortable. Her need of support in a stressful situation was primarily turned down, so—naturally to her character—she started to worry even more.
With a heavy heart and two bags of Wagamama takeout, she walked up the stairs to his apartment. She was usually working until later hours than Frank, so all she really needed was for him to open the door for her. She leaned on the doorframe as she waited patiently for the two turns of the lock. He opened still in his work attire – tailored jeans and a light grey button up shirt. He was holding his phone next to his ear and humming approvingly to the speaker when he looked her up and down. He winked at her and let her in, as he continued to talk with someone.
Inside, Millie found the TV turned on with a football game playing. His work jacket was still hanging on the back of the tall stool in the kitchen, and the grocery bags laid unpacked on the table. She took off her shoes and made her way to the kitchen, where she made a little room for their food on the countertop. Pulling off her sweater, she peeked into the shopping bags – she wasn’t surprised to find a couple bottles of beer and food essentials, a multipack of tissues and a large box of condoms.
“What’s all this, babe?” Franklin came up to her and briefly kissed her on the lips, before looking into the boxes with deliciously smelling food.
“I just thought it might be nice to eat some goodies,” She smiled, trying to sniff out his mood first. He smiled back at her with approval and reached for the plates in the cupboard, so she continued, “also, it’s a ‘thank you for being my saviour today,’ kinda thing.”
“Ah, yeah. I bet everyone on my floor will hate BBC’s guts for that.” Frank said it so casually, with a shrug to follow up, that Millie struggled to understand the dynamic he had at The Guardian. He seemed to be a great fit for his team, because a week into his new job, he was already invited for Friday drinks and talked about his co-workers just like anyone would about their long-time friends. She couldn’t understand how was he getting so lucky at any step, but the last thing she wanted to do is doubt him. Any time worries and competitiveness clouded her brain, Millie was making extra room for compassion and support.
Frank unloaded some of the curry on his plate and started eating with a fork, and then made his way to the living room where he spread out on the sofa. He didn’t say anything else, somewhat scaring Millie that he will let her know he’s uncomfortable randomly, on a promisingly good day. Trying to figure out her brain, she followed his actions and took some extra food to the coffee table, before sitting down next to him.
“But you’re not gonna get into trouble for that, are you?” she was biting the inside of her cheek hard, definitely not used to not being judged for using someone else’s help.
“Nah, I don’t think so. They don’t know I’ve got a girl at BBC, so I should be just fine.”
Millie ate her curry in silence, suddenly at loss of words driven by his surprising statement. She didn’t want to raise an argument or seem overly sensitive. But for some reason she hoped that he would talk about her at work, especially considering his already formed strong bonds in the office, and a definitely higher success rate in his position. Ever so charming Franklin, he always glowed among people. She couldn’t really fight with this, so she just kept any comments to herself and focused on her food.
Frank switched the channel to the evening news and pulled her to his side once they were done eating. It comforted Millie to know that at the end of the day, they could both enjoy each other’s company, no matter what was happening at work. She didn’t pay much attention to the news, but rather focused on the way he reacted to it and what he enjoyed. She felt too tired to get invested in another load of politics, so she just soaked in his warmth and curled more into his side. He smelled of coffee and heavy, musky cologne that he liked to reapply frequently. Millie closed her eyes and breathed out the stress that weighed her down after a long day, finally finding peace.
“I’ll go grab a beer, you want one?” he abruptly stood up, making her slightly loose her balance and lean back towards the pillows. She closed her eyes and pressed her lips in a thin line.
“I’m good, thanks.”
“You sure? You’re awfully quiet today.” He spoke already from the kitchen, not even catching a glimpse of her pursed lips.
“I just need to wind down. It’s been stressful day.” She pushed a little smile on her cheeks as he came back with a frown. He took a few large sips of his drink and put it on the table, before lowering himself on the couch and leaning over Millie.
“I can help you relax, if you want.” He raised an eyebrow in a flirtatious manner, leaning into her and leaving a series of delicate kisses on her lips. He then moved onto her jaw and sucked on her skin, but never left a mark. Slowly massaging her waist, he slid his hand under her shirt and sprawled his fingers across her hip to pull her closer.
Millie enjoyed the warmth that started to spread through her body, but she couldn’t find any energy to give some of it back. She felt drained and exhausted, so a mere thought about participating in sexual activities was sure to make her at least slightly uncomfortable. Unless Frank was willing to change something about it.
“Okay, hold on,” her chuckle and a light push at his chest made him narrow his eyebrows in confusion, “I don’t think I’ve got enough energy today, Frankie.” Her whisper was followed by a reassuring smile. She weaved her fingers through his short hair and kissed the tip of his nose.
“What if I provide you with some energy first?”
“What, you’ll give me an energy drink?” She laughed at her poor joke and he chuckled, too, but more at her silliness than anything else. He laid her down comfortably and cautiously peppered her with kisses on her neck and the tiny bit of cleavage that was available without unbuttoning her shirt. She was slowly giving in, allowing him to get lower on her body and touch her. Frank either wanted to make her feel better, or was really horny. But whatever the case was, she didn’t want to stop him and ruin his enthusiasm. The glow in his eyes and admiration painted across his face were too intoxicating to back away. His touch was filled with sparks of emotions and a kind of drive that Millie was addicted to. She felt wanted and needed, and that’s what made her return the heated kisses despite her hooded, weary eyes.
They walked hand in hand through the chilly evening, sometime after she persuaded Frank to walk her to the nearest tube station. The wind was slightly tickling her neck, but other than that she felt at peace. She let her hair down, flowing gently with each blow of the air and lightly caressing her face like a safety blanket. They swayed their hands until they had to make room for a group of people passing by.
“Jane texted me about a little get together this Friday,” She mumbled into the night, trying not to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere around them.
“Ah, yeah. Aaron told me about it, too. I guess we’re going, right?”
“Yeah, it might be nice. The girls mentioned this new club near their apartment? I think that’s where they wanted to go.”
“Cool. I could use a little break.”
As they continued their walk, Millie mostly focused on leading the way through tight London streets. Franklin’s parents rented him an apartment in the city centre, close to everything you could dream of in London. It also meant crowded streets at any hour, so to have a nice walk around the neighbourhood usually requested it to be late at night. But it didn’t matter to him, as long as he had a short commute to the office and all other things that life requested from him, within reach. There were times when he would mention coming back to Manchester and supporting his parents at their law firm, but Millie saw how much he preferred his growing career as a journalist. Mathilda and William were a generous couple, so they shared their resources with him and tried to help him get into the business as smoothly as possible. Sometimes she wanted to ask him about his permanent position at The Guardian and whether his name had anything to do with it, but she never felt comfortable enough to do it. Some things were better left unspoken.
Reaching the staircase to the station, Franklin stopped and made her turn to him and look up at his smiling face.
“Thanks for coming over tonight. I had fun.”
“Yeah, me too.” She smiled shyly, nodding her head in reassurance.
“I wish you could finally move to the city, though. It would be so much easier if you were a few blocks away.”
“You do realize that even if I moved out, it wouldn’t be anywhere nearby?” Her chuckle resonated through her body, almost as if she wanted to humour herself at the topic that had started to come up more often in their conversations.
“I could ask around the office if anyone has a room available to rent.”
“But I don’t want to share my personal space with strangers, you know this. Don’t try to change my mind about it.” She smiled tightly.
Frank has been trying to persuade her into moving out for months. He wanted to be closer to her, within a short train journey, rather than a whole commute in and out of Kingston. He felt comfortable in the business of London, and Millie liked to call him out on being spoiled by having an apartment on his own in such a lively part of the city. But she wasn’t financially ready to leave her family home in equally comfortable Southwest London, where she had all she needed within her reach, and her social life was just a tiny bit longer train trip away. It was a source of their small disputes from time to time, because it was Millie who spent more time on going to his place and spending time there. Naturally, it made her feel more engaged in their relationship and Frank tried his best make up for the difference. But one thing that never occurred, was Millie staying over for longer than a night. Even a night’s sleepover was a rare event, somehow always blessed by excuses from either one of them.
“You’re right, I’m sorry,” he pecked her lips and brushed her cheek with his thumb. “I talk about it out of concern, okay?”
“Okay. But I like my train rides and I like Kingston. So let’s just deal with it for now, yeah?”
“’Course,” He sent her a tight smile before giving her one last kiss. “Text me when you get home.”
“Will do.”
Millie was one of those people who could be easily judged as thinkers. Years of taking trains and buses in and out of central London taught her to cherish every moment of peace she gets during her journeys. That’s how she learned to create playlists for each season – summer commutes were always different than autumn ones; they required different sounds and lyrical quality. Intense months during university semesters also showed her how to read fast between the stops and how to juggle standing on the tube and holding an open book without falling, as the train slowed and rushed every few seconds.
As she was approaching her station in Kingston, she stopped the music but kept her earphones in. A bunch of other people was hurrying to get out of the train and get home as soon as possible, but after leaving the station, she would have a lonely 15-minute walk to her neighbourhood, so she always tried to stay alert in the evenings. Getting on the sidewalk in the busiest area of Kingston, she closed her book and put it back in her backpack, pulled the jacket tighter around her middle and continued her steady walk.
The air was getting crispier with each minute outside. It was refreshing and calm, disturbed only by a few laughs from the pub across the street and two cars passing her by. She turned into one of the quieter streets, where the buildings were becoming shorter and more separated from each other. Brick fences and trimmed hedges adorned the concrete sidewalks on both sides of the street, illuminated only by a few lanterns. Most of the light was coming from the windows in a row of semi-detached houses that Millie has known for a good chunk of her life.
Right when she wanted to cross the street and take a right, she heard a subtle clicking of a dog collar and a leash. Soft padding from the back was slowly approaching her and becoming louder, as well as someone’s whistle.
“Tess, come here!” a hushed call didn’t disrupt the peace of the night, but rather added the familiarity that Millie adored. She slowed her walk and turned around, just in time to be met with lightly jogging blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She panted lightly with her tongue out and reached Millie’s legs, where she tucked her head and mewled timidly.
“Oh, and who do we have here?” Millie chuckled at the dog’s persistence in keeping close. She scratched her head and patted her on the back, “are you on your evening walk, Tessa? Is that right?”
“We didn’t mean to scare you, Millie,” Dominic reached them and sent Millie a kind and apologetic smile, “good evening.”
“Hi, it’s good to see you.” She beamed at the middle-aged man, whom she learned to adore like a family member.
“Likewise, yeah. Heading home?”
“I am, just got off the train.”
“We will keep you company, then. Is that alright?” He fixed his glasses and leaned down to attach the leash to Tessa’s collar. Millie’s insides warmed and her mind calmed down at the idea that she will get to spend a few minutes with a friend.
“Absolutely, thank you.”
“Ah, don’t mention it. I bet Tom would have my head, hadn’t I offered,” they chuckled at the mention of his son. Their laughter died off comfortably and escaped into the night air, while Millie reminisced about the caring nature of the Hollands. “How is it going at BBC?” he asked after a moment, letting her go first through a narrow passage.
“It’s… going,” she smiled shyly, not sure how to dress up her words. In Dominic’s company she always felt one step behind in her creative skills; his writing and comic abilities exceeded her capabilities, or so she thought. “but I feel like I’ve definitely hit an end with politics. I know it’s only been a month, but it’s just… it keeps on proving that I should be writing about something else.”
“Oh, it’s totally understandable. Rest assured, you’re not the only one stuck like this,” They turned the corner onto her street. “but I wish you luck there. They have some sensible editors, so I assume you’ll get a chance at something else as well.”
“I hope so. Today I asked them about switching departments and the intern manager told me she will think about it, so there is a tiny light.”
“Something will always work out. You’re smart, you’ll find your way there.”
Dom and Millie continued down the sidewalk, until Tessa stopped near the gate to Millie’s house. She sniffed the pavement and turned back to the girl who crouched down to pet the Staffy one last time.
“Thanks for walking with me,” her smile was genuine, coming straight from her heart. “please say hi to Nikki and the boys. Is Sam still home?”
“He is, he starts his practice at the end of June. So, we all will be here to celebrate your birthdays.”
“Oh, that’s great! It’s been a while since we’ve all been together.”
“That’s true. But you’re welcome to stop by anytime.”
“I know, thank you.” With fondness painted across her face, she scratched Tessa’s ear and stood up straight, reaching for the keys in her pocket.
“Have a good night.”
“You too. Bye, Tess!”
Whenever she got the chance to interact with someone from their family, Millie instantly felt their love and care penetrate her straight to the core. It was this kind of relationship that had been built through the years, only making it stronger and bringing it closer to the concept of family.
Nikki, Dom’s wife and Anna, Millie’s mother met shortly before Millie and Tom were born. At first only neighbours, soon they became best friends to the point of engaging their families in a kind affair. Greetings at the doorstep turned into late night family dinners and weekends away with the kids. They were used to spending most of the birthdays and holidays together, especially when Millie and Tom’s birthdays two days apart brought them all closer. She raced her best friend in Anna’s womb and came out to this world right before the brown-haired boy. Ever since the Beavers celebrated the birth of their third and youngest daughter, the Hollands began their journey with four boys. They always stayed close and treated each other like family, deeming it necessary to nourish their friendship and turn it into something everlasting. The example of their parents taught Millie and Tom to mimic the closeness and made them create their own little world.
Millie’s older sisters also treated Tom, Harry, Sam and Paddy like brothers, but not as much as Millie did. Samantha and Liz were already grown toddlers when the families got together, so they figured more as the female patrons of their youngest sister and her adventures with the boys. But Millie and Tom’s friendship turned into something so effortless and harmless that no supervision was necessary. They were each other’s partners in crime, best friends from next door. Their mothers had signed them up for the same dance classes, helped them get to the same summer carnivals, and let them have late nights in makeshift dens. Millie was one of the first people their dog, Tessa, got familiar with. She missed him dearly when he started his journey as a young actor, but Nikki made sure he always made the time to call his best friend when the time zones were somewhat cooperating. They nurtured their friendship through Millie’s education and Tom’s career, not stopping even for a moment. He was there for her always, carrying her home when she scratched her knee after falling off the slings. She would help him with homework whenever he felt too embarrassed to ask his parents. Tom escorted her home from her disaster of a prom; he was the first one to understand her anxiety and help her through it. And Millie always read the books and scripts Tom needed to prepare for auditions. Just like that, they always found home in one another.
Their house smelled of baking and freshly watered plants. As quietly as possible, Millie took off her shoes and tip-toed into the kitchen, turning on only the least invasive, small lights. She put down her backpack and lightly stretched, letting out a tired, yet content breath. Her eyes scanned the kitchen in search for the source of the sweet scent, and there it was, on a cooling rack in the corner, covered with a tea towel – fresh lemon sponge cake, the favourite of Millie’s mother. Lightly dusted with powdered sugar, it added an extra layer of sweet comfort to the late night’s atmosphere. She left the cake untouched, but put the kettle on to quickly make herself a cup of tea for a good night’s sleep. She let out an overwhelming yawn and rested her hips on the side of the countertop, patiently waiting for the water to boil.
She felt her phone vibrate in the back pocket of her jeans. The brightness of the screen was almost blinding, until it adjusted to the low lighting in the room. She could feel the anticipation growing in the back of her head as she noticed a new message.
(Tom) I got you something today
After a second or two, a picture loaded under the message. Millie gasped and smiled like mad, when he showed her a pair of Minnie Mouse sequin ears. It was an artefact that Millie has always dreamt of, not having an opportunity to go to Disneyland ever in her childhood.  She awaited the chance with high hopes and wandering mind, but she knew the trip had to be thorough, well-planned, and wholesomely happy.
           (Me) You were in Disneyland????
(Tom) yeah we did promo for spidey today
           (Me) I’m so jealous rn
(Me) THANK YOU FOR THE EARS!!!!!
           (Tom) it’s alright
(Tom) I didn’t get any weird looks at all
(Tom) Just casually carried around this shiny sparkling beauty
(Me) I bet you loved this feeling
(Me) I bet you bought yourself a pair too
           (Tom) Don’t tell anyone
(Me) You could always pretend they’re for Tessa
(Me) I just saw her and your Dad btw
Whenever her and Tom texted, it always sparked a never-ending conversation about sweet nothings. They mocked each other, talked about their days, spoke about all things home. It allowed them a safe space from their daily hustles; Millie was able to breathe lightly and happily, and Tom had a chance to detach from the world he desperately tried not to drown in.
Almost spilling the tea, she slowly made it upstairs without losing the sight of her phone screen. She struggled to turn off the lights in the corridor without making a noise but somehow, she managed not to disturb her parents too much, as she reached her bedroom. Safe within her own little space, she put down the mug and let go of her backpack and jacket. She threw herself on the softest bedspread and waited patiently for Tom’s reply.
The text bubble stopped and a massage didn’t appear, but her phone started ringing. Millie answered the FaceTime call and waited for the camera on his phone to adjust and show his familiar face.
“I had a meeting with Disney and they want me to participate in one of their projects for a Marvel-themed ride at Disneyland,” from a crooked angle she could see his neatly gelled hair and uneven eyebrows. Tom was walking somewhere, but then sat down and perched his phone on the mug that stood on the coffee table, so that she could see him better.
           “That’s exciting, right?”
“Oh, yeah!” She could see him rummage in a brown paper bag and pull out a box with some takeaway food. “But I’m telling you this because we could turn it into our Disneyland trip that you’ve wanted, right?”
“That would be nice, yeah.” She smiled back at the screen, but a terrible yawn sneaked in to her expression. Tom scrunched his forehead and took a large sip from a bottle of water.
“I didn’t wake you up now, did I?”
“No, I just came back home. I am tired, though.”
           “Yeah? How was work?”
“Stressful and not nice. It wasn’t a good day.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. Wanna talk about it?”
Tom spent the next minutes carefully listening to her words and trying not to spill his soup on his fresh clothes. He hummed to some of the stories and asked little intrusive questions, to get the whole picture. She kept rubbing at her eyes and stifling her yawns every now and then, at last making a mess of her mascara and getting it all over her skin. Despite the seriousness in her voice, Tom smiled fondly to himself at the view of her ruined face that probably mimicked her current mental state. It wasn’t something he should laugh about, but it was rather endearing to have her so comfortably sharing her lows with him, while he casually ate his lukewarm, very late lunch.
“Why are you laughing at me?” She returned his smile, knowing it was probably something she did.
“You made yourself look like panda.” He chewed on a chunk of chicken from his second plate. The wrinkles by his eyes deepened with each of her chuckles and proved to them that this is the lightness they need in their daily routines. “Well, it’s good you asked for a new placement. You should be comfortable in your work environment. I’m proud of you.”
“Thanks,” she yawned again and stopped herself mid-rubbing her eye again, earning a wholesome, groggy laugh from her friend, “your dad thinks they will give me another chance.”
“I mean, he knows some people there, so he probably has a point.”
“Yeah, I just don’t want to get my hopes up too high, you know?” A comfortable silence rested between them after he nodded and continued munching on his food. Millie stood up from her bed and took the phone with her, but also started to slowly get ready for the night.
“You will know when the moment feels right and shows you something worth a shot. Trust yourself, Mills.”
“I guess…” she trailed off, making her way to the closet to find fresh pyjamas. “I’m glad my panda face entertained your… what is it, lunch break?”
“Sort of, yeah,” he chuckled, enjoying the playfulness of her tired self, “I should be coming back in two weeks. We could hang out then, if you’ll have the time.”
           “Oh, for sure.”
“Alright, I’ll let you rest. Text me anytime, yeah?”
“I will. Thanks for the Minnie ears!”
“You got it, Minnie Mouse. Sweet dreams.”
                                                          *  *  *
After her little mishap with Politics Live, Millie tried her best to keep up the hard work, but stay low. She tried not to focus too much attention and just assist other workers in their tasks, only coming up with ideas when necessary. She strived to come back to her public voice, but she knew she needed it to have a comfortable outlet, preferably in another setting and on different topics. She was greeting the intern manager with additional caution and kindness, trying her best not to leave her case forgotten.
Segregating files for the research team seemed to be the best solution to her temporary creative break. Her attention to detail and wholesome care about the task being done to its full potential came in handy. She volunteered to help the group of meticulously scribbling and researching men in keeping their documents in order.
The soft mumble of the radio in the background was interrupted by a guy named Tim. He always wore rock band t-shirts under his jackets and Millie swore she had seen him participate in a wild dance routine during the last year’s Glastonbury Festival. He stopped typing on his keyboard and started to quietly hum a song that was definitely different to what Scott Mills was announcing on Radio 1.
“Oh my God, do you guys know this song? I can’t get it out of my head!” he groaned in frustration, making a few people in the open space office chuckle.
“Do you know any words, maestro?” Millie’s head snapped up at the sound of Kim, the intern manager’s voice. She was passing by with a bunch of files and a coffee, before she perched herself on his desk, obviously making fun of her friend.
“It’s got this very cool, mariachi-like trumpet between the lines,” he mimicked a trumpet player and hummed some more, “and the guy sings something about stopping a feeling…”
“Justin Timberlake?”
“You know he’s not my jam, Kim! It’s an old-school song.”
“You’re the old-school one here.” Kim’s comment earned a couple more laughs at poor Tim, who was genuinely struggling. “you’re the researcher, have you googled it?”
“Of course I googled it, stop mocking me! People are watching.”
Their little light-hearted exchange brought a breezy atmosphere to the office and made Millie smile some more. She kept on looking up at Tim to check if he’s found the song he was looking for, but without luck. Her fingertips started to tingle with each swipe through the pages in a file, because she felt like she knew the song. Deciding to come against her decision to lay low, she gently cleared her throat and swallowed her nerves of speaking up in a new environment.
“Hey Tim, have you tried to find it on Spotify?” they both looked at Millie with playful smiles, as anyone would to the up and coming intern fresh out of university.
“I don’t think it’s the title of the song, so I won’t find it there.”
“But you actually could,” she offered, biting her lip nervously “since the recent update, you can now type in the lyrics into the search bar and the results will show you all licensed songs with the same or similar lyrics.” Tim instantly reached for his phone and started typing away.
“Oh really? I didn’t know that, let’s see…” Kim looked into his phone and watched his progress.
“And since you’ve remembered a catchy verse, it’s very possible that others also tried to find this song through the same words. So, it will probably come up within the first few results.”
“Alright, smarty.” He shook his head in amusement. Millie watched as Kim’s face got ridden of any emotion and just stared at Tim’s work.
“But if nothing comes up, you can always try ‘Hooked on a Feeling’ by Blue Swede.”
Millie waited with racing heart at their reactions. Tim clicked on one of the results and raised the volume, filling the room with a sound so familiar to Millie’s memory. She smiled shyly and internally patted herself on the back, before coming back to her task.
“How did you know this song?” His triumphant smile was radiating, as he did a little dance in his seat and twirled on his rolling chair. “It’s such an old tune, I didn’t think your generation would know it!”
“Yeah Millie, how did you know?” Kim encouraged his question and watched her carefully, almost as if she was studying her intern.
“It’s in the soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy. I wrote a paper on it.”
“Hm.” Kim’s unreadable expression was giving Millie chills, but in a positive way. She liked to be asked about things that interested her and prompted her to be creative, so the way this situation evolved was close to burst her heart into passionate flames. “I’ll ask the Radio managers if they want a music and pop culture geek, how’s that sound?”
It sounded like Millie put the trust in herself at the right time.

Home Isn’t Just A Place Part 2 | Steve Rogers x Reader
Summary: Life in 2023 is very different from your old life 80 years ago. Steve has caught you up on some of it, but there’s still so much for you to find out.
Warnings: Swearing, Angst, Slight Allusion to Habits of an Eating Disorder, Fluff, Nudity?
Word Count: 2.6K
A/N: Here’s part two of this small little series. Hope you like this one and I hope it meets your standards! I deeply apologize for not being active for a while. I am going to attempt to upload on a schedule, but school and mental health and COVID are all impacting my life in a negative way at the moment. I have been struggling with my bipolar disorder and depression, so I am in fact trying my best.
Tumblr media
“Winnie the Pooh.” Steve calls out, bending his head over the back of the couch to project his voice across the common room. A small gasp and running footsteps are the only sounds heard on that floor of the tower before your figure appears in the doorway of the kitchen and living room.
“POOH!” You squeal, throwing your arms up in the air, the material of Steve’s sweatshirt flopping over your hands. As soon as you found out that wearing your partner’s clothes in the 21st century was acceptable, you practically pillaged Steve’s closet of all sweatshirts and shirts in general. The past two and a half months have been full of learning pop culture and getting caught up with the 78 years you skipped, which included all things Disney. Nat giggles at your response to Steve’s words, and he holds up a finger before leaning his head back again.
“Y/N, what’s the most wonderful thing about tiggers?” He asks, a small smile forming on his face as you gasp and your eyes light up like a kid in a candy store.
“Well, the wonderful thing about tiggers is, that tiggers are wonderful things.” You explain, the smile sticking on your face as you continue reciting the song. “Their tops are made out of rubber, their bottoms are made out of springs. They’re flouncy, bouncy, trouncy, councy, fun fun fun fun fun! But the most wonderful thing about tiggers is that I’m the only one!” You flop down onto Steve’s lap as the finale to the song, and he quickly wraps his arms around you to protect you from falling off the couch.
“Told you she’s obsessed.” He mumbles to Nat, a frown appearing on your face as you overhear his words.
“Not my fault Walt Disney’s a genius.” Natasha silently agrees with you, the small nod she gives you making you pump your fists in victory. As Steve and Natasha continue their conversation, you lay in Steve’s lap and play with the dog tags hanging around his neck. He runs his hand through your hair, slowly lulling you to sleep.
~~~
“But-”
“No! I am on my break!” You exclaim, finishing your extra assigned duty of organizing the different bandages and gauzes.
“Y/NNNNNNN-”
“NO! How many times have I told you? Steve’s shield should not be used as a frisbee, and Redwing should not be used to divebomb your friends.” You screech once more, attempting to brush off the three dipshits you call friends, all with different ailments caused by the shield and the tiny robotic bird.
“How did you know about Redwing?!”
“Part of Redwing is stuck in Buck’s arm.”
“Ah.” Sighing once again, you motion to the table and try not to laugh as all three of them try to fit on the medical bench at once. The three men somehow all fit, squishing each other a little bit but eventually sitting normally. You look at the clock and sigh, knowing your break only lasts for another fifteen minutes. You start with Steve, cleaning off the bruises and cuts on his face, even though they’ll heal in a moment. Moving to Bucky, you pull his arm forward and begin carefully maneuvering the broken piece out of his upper arm. You tug. He flinches. Finally, the piece comes out of Bucky’s arm and the man sighs.
“Thank you.” Bucky mumbles, flexing his fingers to make sure everything is still intact.
“Yeah, yeah.” You say, brushing him off with a small wave. “Don’t thank me until I’ve fixed the only purely human person in your idiotic triad.” Sam looks down at his feet and you chuckle, grabbing an antiseptic wipe and attempting to clean the cut from Steve’s shield.
“OW!”
“It would hurt less if you stopped moving!” This continues for what seemed like hours but was only a few seconds. You were finally able to clean and bandage the cut on Sam’s forehead and hand him some Tylenol for the other bruises after he stopped whining like a four year old. The three of them sat there for a little longer while you finished cleaning up and they thanked you, one by one heading out of the medbay. Steve lingered, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
“You’re adjusting really well. I’m proud of you.” He whispers.
“I know! I barely say gas anymore!” Steve smiles and kisses you once more before walking out after the other two. After putting away the bandages and tweezers, you sit down to actually enjoy your break, now shortened to ten minutes instead of thirty. You pick up the nearest magazine and start reading. Everything is going fine, until you reach the advice section of the magazine. And I thought the 40’s were harsh about women.
~~~
What you read in that magazine shook you a bit. You knew that beauty standards had changed over the years, but you didn’t know that they changed THAT much. Women were expected to be so much skinnier and healthier and plastic. After overhearing Steve tell Bucky he’d always liked a girl with a “good figure”, you began striving to look like the girls on the pages of magazines. Cooking healthier meals, working out more, even skipping meals sometimes to not pile on carbs. You realized it wasn’t the healthiest, but it seemed to be working. And yet every day, you looked in the mirror and loathed yourself a little bit more. On this mediocre day, you had just finished a run and were now looking for food when Wanda walked into the kitchen.
“Hey Y/N!” She exclaims, walking over to you as you dug through the fridge. “What’cha making?”
“Oh nothing, just grabbing an apple for lunch.” You say nonchalantly.
“For lunch? Aren’t you gonna eat more than that?” She looks at you worriedly while you shrug and she sighs, pulling you closer to her so she can look at you head on. “Tell me what’s going on.”
“What do you mean?”
“An apple for lunch, working out when just three months ago you mentioned loathing it, and you’ve been skipping dinner with the team a lot. What’s going on?” You shrug once again and she pulls you over to the couch on the other side of the room before staring at you and gesturing for you to talk.
“Well- the future is really new and exciting, but it’s also scary. I picked up a magazine a while ago and it talked about body figures. And I know I don’t have the prettiest body but the future seems really harsh and then I overheard Steve talking to Bucky and saying he likes a girl with a good figure and I’m chubby and-” At this point, you begin to cry and hyperventilate as you vent your feelings to Wanda. She listens quietly as you rant about how you feel overweight and unlovable in the future, and how you think Steve is getting sick of you and might leave you for a different woman. A modern woman. A skinnier woman.
“Oh you poor thing.” Wanda whispers, pulling you into a hug as you cry harder. She turns her head, a certain blond-haired man catching her eye as he stands quietly in the doorway. You continue to sob as Wanda glares at your still-fiance and rubs your back. They seem to communicate telekinetically before Steve nods and walks away, leaving Wanda to calm you down.
~~~
You slowly walk into the apartment you share with Steve, your medical bag slung over your shoulder. You slam the door behind you and take off your shoes, setting your bag next to the door. You’re about to stand up when a pair of hands clamps around your eyes. Gasping, you’re about to fight back when a familiar voice begins to shush you.
“It’s just me, it’s just me.” Steve whispers, causing you to relax a little while Steve loosens his hands a little bit. You start to speak as you attempt to pry his hands off your eyes.
“Why didn’t you say that? You nearly gave me a heart atta-”
“Don’t open your eyes!” He exclaims, scaring you once again. Steve can practically feel your heart begin to race once again. “I-I have a surprise for you.” You nod and he stands you up, leading you blindly further into the apartment.
“Should I be nervous?”
“I don’t think so.” Steve answers, leading you a little bit further before taking one of his hands off your eyes, sliding the other to cover both. You hear the balcony door open and wind rushes in as Steve leads you out onto what you assume is your balcony. He removes his hand and you quickly gasp as you look around you. The tiny balcony that had once only contained a single light was now covered in soft yellow fairy lights, a rug placed down instead of the harsh concrete and soft music playing. You quickly recognize this as the song you two danced to the night he proposed. The night he left. Turning around, you find him standing there with one hand out to you and a grin on his face. “May I have this dance?”
“Of course.” Steve quickly grabs your hands and pulls you closer. Resting your head on his shoulder, the two of you slowly sway to the beat of the song, the calming chaos of the streets of Manhattan now just a background noise in your tiny little bubble. You look up at Steve and he’s smiling down at you, occasionally mouthing along to the song. Quietly laughing once more, you decide to focus on the man in front of you, starting with his eyes. “Have your eyes always been this blue?”
“I mean, I think so. Kind of hard to tell.”
“Well they’re pretty.” He smiles at your compliment, and Steve hears you mumble something else. He doesn’t quite catch it all, but he does hear one word. Kids. The two of you dance for a little while longer before it starts to actually get cold, and the two of you head inside.
“I have one more thing.” He says, taking your hand and leading you to the bathroom. The two of you stand in front of the mirror as he slowly starts to undress you, and your mind goes in a whole different direction than what he’s planning. Steve finishes pulling off your clothes and instead of kissing you like you’d hoped, he moves you in front of him so you’re forced to stare at your reflection. You start to squirm as he looks at you, a small frown resting on his face. “I hear you talking to Wanda today.” He starts, immediately being cut off by your gasp.
“Oh god. I’m so sorry. None of that has to deal with you, it’s just me being stupid and-” You quiet down when Steve gives you that look, and he soon resumes talking.
“You’re not stupid. Your reasoning is valid, but I want you to know that you have nothing to worry about. I will always choose you.” But what if you don’t? He can practically see the doubt on your face, so he pulls you closer to him and begins his original plan. Steve kisses the top of your head, lips pressed softly against your hair. “I love your hair because it’s part of you. It’s gorgeous and always seems to look perfect, no matter how much you criticize it.” And he continues doing that. Going slowly down your body and pointing out what he loves about every single part of your being. Once he reaches your thighs, however, you start to grow more self-conscious. How could he love something like that? It’s all cellulite. And yet he carries on.
“I love your thighs because they’re perfect to hold. Whether I’m dancing with you in my arms or having them squeeze my head, they’re perfect in every way. They’re perfect for me, because they’re a part of you.”
Every single body part, from the hair on your head to the feet attached to your legs (he didn’t kiss those, he said no thank you), was properly adorned with love from your fiance. By the time he finishes, there are tears in your eyes, and he stands up with a goofy smile on his face.
“I want you to know this, Y/N. I mean every word I just said. I love every part of you.” You nod slowly and he finally does what you’ve been waiting for. Steve kisses you softly before pulling away and beginning to run a shower. You stand there quietly until he’s done, and he motions for you to join him. Once the shower is warmed up, the two of you make your way in, simply staring at each other for the time being. Steve wraps his arms around your shoulders in a hug, the two of you just standing there silently under the water.
“I love you.” You murmur, some of your words blocked by his chest, the others getting through to him. Your fiance smiles and looks down at you, similar to the way he did outside.
“I love you too.” He gives you a kiss on the forehead before reaching behind you, grabbing your bottle of body wash and squirting some on his hand. Confusion crosses your eyes before he begins washing you, something he does every once in a while on special nights. Your fiance carefully moves his hands around your body, his actions calming from the very hectic day you had. He continues to do this with your shampoo and conditioner, movely slowly in order to not pull you from the beautiful land between sleep and consciousness. Once he finishes with you, Steve lets you rest against him as he takes care of his own shower routine. The one time he moves you is to rinse out your hair, making sure everything is out in order to not have to do it again. He knows how much you hate being woken up.
~~~
Grabbing a towel, he carefully wraps it around your body, drying you off before repeating his actions on himself. The two of you exit the bathroom and you stand in the middle of the bedroom, your fiance moving around somewhere off to your right. Steve returns with his shirt and boxers for you to where, along with some boxers for himself. After getting dressed, the two of you brush your teeth and get ready for bed before finally falling into the wildly-made bed from this morning when the two of you were late. You cuddle into Steve’s side and wrap his arm around your shoulder, the man chuckling at your actions. The two of you sit there for a little longer before Steve turns to you.
“Y/N?”
“Hmm?”
“What did you say about kids earlier? After you asked about my eyes?” You stare up at him as you start to blush, and Steve nudges you to explain what you said.
“I said-” You pause. “I said that I hope our kids have your eyes.” You hear Steve gasp and you look down at his chest, the two of you never having the conversation of kids before.
“You-you want kids?” He asks, sitting up to be able to look you in the eyes.
“Of course I do! I’ve wanted them since forever, but back then, you said you were scared of them having your medical problems. And now it seems we kind of don’t have time for them with the whole saving the world thing and-” Steve cuts you off with a kiss, the both of you smiling and he pulls back first.
“I will make time for them.” He whispers, kissing you once more for good measure. “So,” He begins, sitting up a little straighter. “When do we want to start trying?”

7:03 "I'm not gonna apologize for knowing things" the sass. the ✨confidence✨. living for it
7:03 If they build on that it sets Sticky up really nicely for the arc in the second book where he starts to show off a little
7:15 tiny Constance who is constantly dressed in pink with cute little braids is the perfect medium for the most morbid comments 😂😂
7:55 Martina's hot in her uniform. Can't prove me wrong.
8:15 why does that make me sad 🥺 eat with your friendssss. iirc they only talked about eating at the Messenger table in the books
8:26 dipshits forgot their lunches. Seems Constance is holding the communal braincell atm
8:50 anyone have Guiness on speed dial? Reynie and Sticky have a submission for them
9:25 oh hello this was alluded to in the preview!!! Morse code is compromised, rip

10:18 ahhhhhh the little blinkie light, stopppp
10:25 MILLIGANNNNN!!!
10:25 so is this the point where he starts staying on the island with them????
10:39 so are they just like "fuck it we'll do it right before sundown" ???? Like Jackson and Jillson are still gonna be on the lookout, they aren't gonna chill just because it's not fully dark
10:50 did the kids.....just not tell them that Mr. Bloom was on the island 😂 nice oversight guys
11:05 MADGE TIME MADGE TIME
11:05 remind me to tell you guys a story about Madge, I may or may not have done something irl a few years ago that would make y'all proud 😂😂😂
11:16 idk why but it makes me so happy that they kept Madge as a peregrine falcon
11:37 Rhonda, my love, you have my heart in your hands
11:46 roll credits
12:05 THE HEAD SHAKE HAHAHAH
12:06 Awww man, I was so excited for Milligan to be on the island .-. He must have been scoping out the inlet

12:15 his grimace KILLS ME
12:17 the hard cut from Nicholas in a brown setting and brown suit to Nathaniel in a blue setting and blue suit was lowkey striking
12:36 are they looking up Morse code 😳 can you imagine if they wrote down the message and are now decoding it
12:41 omfg all that for a HAT 🙃 I feel stupid
12:51 two things: 1. Those walls are atrocious, and 2. Yeah, talk about Morse code in a louder voice Connie girl, you're just in a public hallway

~~
Good morningggg lesgetatit
14:50 "vomit of metal" ashhdjdjd
15:16 a wild Martina appears!
15:36 and if you folks look to your left, you'll see a wild Constance being the voice of reason once again
15:57 "lose the bucket" "I'm not gonna do that" HELL YEAH KATE
16:07 I get not having the bucket on the court lolol, I thought Martina was telling Kate to lose the bucket in general. Like, yeah, good luck convincing her to so that
16:35 show!Kate is much angrier than book!Kate and I'm still deciding how I feel about that. The Kate we've known from the books is a sunshine baby with looots of repressed trauma.
17:03 ......what is that. why is that.
17:11 WAIT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE REYNIE AHEHDJDJD
17:15 HI MADGE
17:41 the grand swell in the music makes me think it's going to go comically wrong
17:51 she's majestic because she's a queen 🥺
18:03 LMAO CALLED IT
18:14 Rhonda and Number Two getting at each other is such a sisterly thing to do 😂😂😂
18:37 ohhhhh? Someone's approaching? Miss Perumal perhaps????
18:45 YEAHHHHH BABY
18:50 PROTECTIVE MOM COMIN IN HOT!!!
19:22 THEYRE SO PRECIOUS 😭😭😭😭 I feel like I've been subconsciously starved for her and Mr. Benedict's interactions
19:36 died at that line in the one trailer
20:00 so Miss Perumal pulled a Sherlock Holmes. Love that for her
20:20 Cheri Tupintown??? Of all the aliases they could pick, Cheri Tupintown???
20:33 "Power in Truth Inc" that HAS to be something Rhonda came up with
21:01 you can literally watch Mr. Benedict realize that this is a woman not to be fucked with and he is CORRECT
21:23 "he's fine. Perfectly fine." At this, Mr. Benedict's pants caught aflame.
21:52 something about Constance sitting in on practice!!! It scratches an itch!!!!
22:19 "incorporate the helix. Live in the helix." Lord Helix is pleased with this offering.
22:26 so what I'm hearing is Kate is going to blow up on Constance for messing with the bucket
23:13 unrelated but Jillson'a shoes are cute
23:29 why does this room give off Johnny Depp's willy wonka vibes
24:13 that looks like a chair from a doctor's office waiting room 😭
25:29 they do be egg heads tho
26:02 baby girl, I have no idea why you're crying at weird art but let me dry your tears 🥺🥺
26:50 SHE FOUND ITTTT
27:27 okay Indiana Jones, go off
27:46 why did that kinda sound like Miss Perumal
28:43 the return of everyone's favorite, "enjoyable"
29:05 not that I'm not loving the ice breaker questions and the one-sided conversation, but I'm not loving it
29:22 oh so we're getting right into it aren't we
29:54 his eyes being open again makes this infinitely creepier
30:36 "where's your proof?" Miss Perumal doesnt fuck around!!!
31:29 you're telling me Constance has been there all day?? And Kate went to find her???? 🥺
31:58 oh so we're getting right to it then?? Kate addressing her independence and trust issues arc????
33:29 NEWS!!!!
33:49 CONSTANCE RIDING PIGGYBACK!!!!!!
34:04 okay, so they opened the murder hole, what are they gonna do now
34:59 Italian? 🤨 m'sir that is so fancy
34:59 fun story I learned Italian diction in college, so I know a little bit
35:16 "take your time" the whisperer says, immediately repeating the prompt to get the answer sooner
35:31 theeeeere it is
35:46 SOMETHING ABOUT THE WHISPERER SAYING "YOU ARE HOME" 😭😭😭 the show really played up the cult shit!!
36:02 Kate being protective of Constance 🥺
36:20 ohhh shit is it time for Connie girl to have double Reynie? Double Sticky?
36:36 STICKY
36:52 "what kind of nonsense?" HAVE THEY NOT ASKED THAT BEFORE THIS?????
37:14 "and your tiny brain can somehow pick it up!!" KATE STOP 😂😂😂
37:16 "I knew you had to be special in some way." WE DONT HAVE TIME TO UNPACK ALL OF THAT
37:51 she's right, this is disregard for their safety. The show made Mr. Benedict and his team a lot more back-alley and dishonest, and Miss Perumal has every reason to be pissed
38:30 oh good they finally remembered he has narcolepsy
39:38 and the best mom award goes to:
40:38 I was gonna say that this hallway is how I imagined the KEEP in riddle of ages but then I remembered that (spoilers) the Institute is the KEEP
40:46 oh, hello propoganda
41:10 that's the other person Rhonda couldn't contact, along with Mr. Bloom. This has to be the brainsweeping process
41:22 yeppppp
41:44 this dark doctor's office theme gives me horror movie vibes
42:22 ohhhh, so that's how they replaced that scene where the four of them jump in a crate to hide and Sticky drops his glasses in the open
42:47 and so we've come to the part of the story where Sticky and Reynie become infinitely more conflicted
42:47 and since we've reached that point..... can we have the white knight scene? Pretty please? Please Disney I'm begging you-
43:12 so Reynie just figured that out without Constance? :/
44:03 love the manipulation
44:31 I'm sorry, the farm?
44:35 farm and forest????
45:16 "the Emergency has served its purpose" 😳 well okay then murder man
45:39 "one thought, one purpose" the hive mind rises once more
45:48 LOVE THE MANIPULATION
46:07 "what have you done to earn anyone's trust?" VALID
46:26 "please do!" WHY AM I EMOTIONAL
47:06 "we still have the falcon" that you do 😂
47:19 AYYY HERE WE GO!!! Time for Milligan to stay on the island??
47:49 ohhhh Constance, casual telepath strikes again
48:16 "stop it, Kate!" OOOOHHHHH
48:53 that line ("it would be nice to be unburdened") would be funny as shit if not for the fact that Constance is a telepath unbeknownst to herself and can both subconsciously perceive people's thoughts and hear the subliminal messages
49:20 HI MRS. PERUMAL!!!
49:25 wow, she's really going through with it 😳 not that I doubted her, but still, that's dedication
49:39 OH SHIT
50:17 oh, so he's an asshole to SQ too. Got it. Torches and pitchforks? Ready to kick his ass?
50:40 "for the moment, anyway" FUCKIN WHAT
This episode was really good!!! They covered a LOT. I hope Miss Perumal comes back to the group and talks about her findings, I hope Milligan goes to get the kids and they tell him no, and I hope they get that classic 4-person Society brainstorming and binding time that hits that sweet spot

I hope this talentswap is to your liking! Introducing the royal, loyal, slick and quick Myth, the Ultimate Gymnast!
————————————-——————
BACKSTORY AND TALENT
Being born in the Eurasian territory of Zaurius, Myth was born into a very high-class family that had slight connections to the Royal Family. Myth was usually tasked with entertaining the guests at banquets and other assorted events, and from there, Myth’s parents found out that she has unprecedented talent in gymnastics, with a particular speciality in rhythmic gymnastics, and is able to dazzle just about anybody with her beauty and grace. Upon the discovery of Myth’s skills, Myth’s parents signed her up for rhythmic gymnastic courses, and time after time again, Myth proved considerable skill with ribbons and batons, to the point that she has a near-unbeatable win streak in competitions, and was even chosen to represent Zaurius in the Olympics. With her stellar appearance and equally stellar skills, it’s not hard to see why. When the currently crowned Zaurian princess was scouted to attend Hope’s Peak as both an exchange student and the Ultimate Princess, Myth was soon invited alongside her childhood friend, as the Ultimate Gymnast, much to their mutual elation. Despite the burdening workload of both of their careers, they took well-deserved time off of their busy schedules to return to Hope’s Peak and chaperone this year’s Ultimates and Jr. Ultimates.
——————————————————-
RELATIONSHIPS
Wyre Anon, Former Ultimate Princess
One would expect the crowned princess of Zaurius to be calm, mature and dignified (so more like Myth), but Wyre is the complete antithesis of these expectations, being loud, uncouth and isn’t afraid of getting themself dirty. Despite these negative qualities being completely unbecoming of a crowned princess, they have excellent political and war acumen, which helped fight off political threats. Ever since Wyre was little and met Myth at a royal banquet, Myth and Wyre have been practically attached to the hip. Myth has always been like Wyre’s keeper, always making sure the reckless princess stays in one piece and out of trouble.
Outfit: Longer hair in a ponytail, a gold headband with a ruby in the center, the suit worn in their Picrew draft design, plus gold gauntlets and boots.
Anon Scar, Reserve Course Student
Despite acting like an evil overlord, this all belies a very intelligent girl that managed to get into Hope’s Peak on academic merit alone. Scar is a member of Hope’s Peak’s reserve course, and is currently studying to become a medical professional. Myth wonders if Scar’s behavior is a result of this “chuunibyou” phenomenon that she heard about during her travels to Japan, and is constantly baffled by Scar’s eccentric behavior and constant mentions of the occult. Scar remains stunned at Myth’s grace and elegance with her signature ribbon, and Myth regularly lets Scar practice treating wounds on both her and Wyre.
Outfit: An ahoge sprouting out of her sidebun, a white turtleneck sweater, a brown jacket slung over her shoulders like a cape, a brown skirt, black leggings, brown slip-on shoes.
Fusion Anon, Ultimate Animator
Having been an animation fanatic ever since he was little, Fusion is famous for being the mastermind behind various animated edutainment series, which are famed for their educational content, fluid animation, and the lovable characters with adorable designs. Myth’s family usually watches high-class stage performances, so looking at Fusion’s work was really the first time that she ever saw an animated work, but she could tell that Fusion puts all of his big heart into his animation. Fusion regularly watches and records Myth’s exercise routines, in order to use as reference for the movement of his animated characters.
Outfit: A blue and silver hoodie with the Disney logo on the back over a black t-shirt with a Mickey Mouse head on the front, black artist gloves, glasses, pants and shoes from the original design.
Fusion Anon II, Ultimate Lucky Student
As the winner of Hope’s Peak’s yearly lottery system, Fusion II regularly tries to act cool and aloof around her peers and claim that she got her various wounds from fighting her enemies. In actuality, Fusion II has terrible luck and is notoriously clumsy, and gets injured from her regular pratfalls, with the lucky events coming right after to soften the blow. Fusion II’s sarcastic “bad-girl” facade can easily break to reveal the easily-embarrassed nerd that she truly is. Ashamed of her clumsiness and wanting to be cooler, Fusion II regularly arranges secret “gracefulness lessons” with Myth, and the two are making surprisingly remarkable progress.
Outfit: Messier hair with a long ahoge on top, black sunglasses that she has several copies of (in case her current pair breaks), a black leather jacket with a white clover design on the back over her lucky green t-shirt, ripped jeans with scraped knees, black boots to make herself look taller, bandages all over her person.
Just Anon, Ultimate Team Manager
Despite his own hatred for exercise or doing anything really, Janon is the manager for a whole barrage of sports teams, ranging from track to softball to even swimming. Despite his uncouth speech, cynical attitude, and claims towards the contrary, he has a soft spot for the young and blossoming athletes that he manages, and can’t help but tear up, whenever one of the athletes goes on to achieve bigger and better things. When Myth first heard that she was chaperoning the genius behind several prolific sports teams, she definitely wasn’t expecting such a lazy and cynical shizdoodle, but it’s very clear that Janon knows what he is doing.
Outfit: Hair tied back into a small ponytail, a black baseball cap on his head with a pink bunny clip on the right side, a pink and red tracksuit, his lucky silver whistle around his neck, red socks, white and black sneakers.
Sparkle Anon, Former Ultimate Yakuza
Despite being loud, eccentric, and having a flair for the dramatics, Sparkle comes from one of the most expansive and dangerous yakuza families in all of the country. When Myth and Wyre traveled to Japan, they were warned by their families to watch out for yakuza families, but it wasn’t until they chose to chaperone the yearly Kibo-Con tour that they actually managed to encounter an actual yakuza. Myth is used to seemingly eccentric people that secretly attempted to assassinate her, Wyre, or either of their families. Because of that, Myth tries her best to use her skills to avoid the hammy and dramatic yakuza heiress whenever possible.
Outfit: Hair shaved on one side, a black vest over a long-sleeved white dress shirt that has the left sleeve ripped off to reveal her sparkly tattoos, a brown trench coat that rests on her shoulders like a cape, black pants and matching shoes with red socks.
Egg Anon, Former Ultimate Traditional Dancer, and Wet Sock Anon, Former Ultimate Swordfighter
Coming from one of the most traditional and influential families in all of Japan, Egg and Wet Sock are both masters in their respective traditional craft, Egg at traditional dancing, and Wet Sock at swordfighting, respectively. Despite living in an old-fashioned temple without any form of access to the internet, Egg and Wet Sock regularly spout out cursed comments and meme references that wouldn’t be out of place in a high-schooler’s chat log. Very little else is known about this elusive duo, for they don’t seem to speak much when participating in their respective hobbies. Out of the twins, Myth gets along better with Egg, thanks to their similar domains.
Outfits: Kimonos (black and purple for Wet Sock, and yellow and green for Egg), white socks and brown geta sandals, glasses from original design.
Curious Anon, Jr. Ultimate Chef
Despite starting out as the cook to a random backwoods diner, Curious’s cooking skills were so good that the backwoods diner grew and grew, until it became a high-class and 5-star restaurant. All the while, the polite and courteous Curious still is behind the counter and making only the greatest of meals, even after all of these years. Curious regularly cooks for everyanon at the Kibo-Con, much to everybody’s (Fusion, especially) delight. Whenever the chef cooks, Myth can’t help but be reminded of her family’s personal chefs, who make only the classiest in delicacies. For that reason, the young culinary prodigy endears Myth on a personal level.
Outfit: Hair pulled back in a small ponytail, a white chef’s outfit with a green cravat and matching pants, brown shoes.
Anon Nerd, Former Ultimate Gamer
The sheer epitome of “Angry Video Game Nerd”, Nerd’s rage is truly unavoidable, if he either breaks his win streak or if he encounters a game-breaking glitch. Many controllers, televisions and computers have been broken in his fits of rage. Despite all of this, he is an expert at any sort of e-sports. When put next to each other, Myth and Nerd are like chalk and cheese, especially when you compare their temperaments and domains of their talents. Because of this, Myth and Nerd share a mutual dislike of each other. Myth thinks that Nerd should control his rage and act like more of a gentleman, and Nerd is envious of Myth’s coolheadedness.
Outfit: Messier hair and eyebags, red and grey headphones, a black hoodie with a Space Invader design on the front, black sweatpants, brown sandals.
Eldritch Anon, Ultimate Photographer
Wishing to expose the world for the terrible and dystopian wasteland that it is and waking the blind masses up to the inevitable apocalypse and collapse of the world as we know it, Eldritch uses his small height and his camo-patterned clothes to sneak into buildings and take pictures of the businesses there committing unethical practices. Because Myth is “bourgeois scum“, according to the photographer and whistleblower, Eldritch seems intent on exposing Myth for the “corrupt magnate” that she allegedly is, and always tries to snap pictures of Myth in “compromising positions much to the confusion of the high-class gymnast.
Outfit: A camo-colored hooded jumpsuit and matching gloves, boots, face paint and Polaroid camera.
Dream Anon, Ultimate Musician
As the leader, guitarist and lead vocalist of the band “Power Spike”, Dream’s cheerful and determined personality, along with her sheer skill at playing music, has earned her a massive following in the world of rock music. Myth usually listens to classical music, when she is practicing her ribbon-dancing routines. Listening to Power Spike’s music was an entirely new experience for her, and it gave her new ideas for new ribbon-dancing routines, and for that, Myth thanks Dream, much to the young rocker’s delight. Dream really wants Myth to be a backup dancer and choreographer for Power Spike’s concerts, to which Myth might possibly accept in the future.
Outfit: Wild hair with streaks dyed pink and blue, a purple leather jacket over an orange shirt with Power Spike’s logo on the front, purple fingerless gloves with nails altering between pink and blue, a purple denim skirt, grey and black striped stockings, purple boots.
Iris Anon, Jr. Ultimate Nurse
Having been superbly clumsy ever since she was little, Iris took it upon herself to patch up and treat her bumps, bruises and boo-boos, before eventually moving on to patching up her friends and eventually deciding that she should work to become a professional doctor. By her middle school years, Iris became a full-fledged nurse and was regarded as a prodigy by her college-aged classmates. Iris regularly likes to give health tips to Myth, before she starts some of her more strenuous performances and routines. Myth regularly performs ribbon tricks at the hospitals that Iris volunteers at, and the smiles of the children were simply unforgettable.
Outfit: Two barrettes shaped like red crosses, an oversized white labcoat over a blue t-shirt, a black pencil skirt, black stockings, red Mary Janes, glasses from original design.
Purple Anon, Ultimate Mechanic
Despite Purple’s fancy and eccentric mode of dress and equally-fancy vocabulary, Purple is an unparalleled expert, when it comes to repairing mechanical devices. Purple would much rather stay in her workshop all day, than interact with her clients, for she is painfully timid and socially-inept. Myth has heard of Purple’s works and heard that her repairs can go for quite the fortune and rich business magnates speak well of her repairs, and always wanted to meet her. But it seems that Myth’s seemingly cold-hearted attitude and sheer gracefulness just scared the timid mechanical genius away, much to the confusion of the gymnast.
Outfit: A black and purple top hat with brown goggles on top, a black vest over a purple dress shirt and a matching cape, a black skirt, black stockings brown gloves and boots.
This AU will center around this aloof gymnast just constantly wowing people and being damn proud of it!
——————————————————-
PERSONALITY
Thanks to coming from a very influential family, Gymnast!Myth is calm and disciplined, in both her gymnastics and the way she behaves around others. Gymnast!Myth is calm and hospitable, which clearly came from her childhood days spent entertaining guests, always treating people with respect and dignity, regardless of their class and reactions towards her performances. That being said, Gymnast!Myth just loves to flex and boast about her skills to anyone willing to hear them, and you could hardly have a conversation with her without her showing off one of her many gymnastic skills. Gymnast!Myth often functions like a keeper or even a motherly figure to a majority of the other Anons, which came from years of disciplining Princess!Wyre.
——————————————————-
APPEARANCE
Gymnast!Myth ties her naturally-brown hair in a tight bun on the back of her head with a bunch of purple bobby-pins that resemble flowers and wears a black and bi-flag-colored leotard with transparent sleeves patterned by lace flowers. To not reveal too much, she covers up the lower part of her leotard with a sparkly black skirt. On her legs, Myth wears black thigh-high “boots”, that are actually just thigh-high socks that get firmer on the bottom. She is hardly seen without her prized ribbon, which is colored like the bisexual pride flag.

Note
CRUELLA DE VIL - What is your muse’s fashion style? for everyone because I love clothes headcanons
Disney villain asks!
Penelope: A combination of fancy/expensive jewellery and casual clothing. Usually with some level of cleavage on display. Think gold, precious stones (fake diamonds, though), ridiculously tall high heels, painted nails. Usually in different shades of pink. Darker pinks accompanied with black, lighter pinks accompanied with complimentary colours or white. Clothes are often figure hugging, albeit not ridiculously skin tight.
The extravagance/expense is toned down a lot for main verse/Team Skull Pen, though is still in full force for her Team Magma and Flare incarnations. Flare Pen specifically is also often seen in oranges and blacks, as fitting of someone often seen hanging off Lysandre Delannoy's arm. A hint of alternative fashion in Skull Pen's look, or "goth lite" basically, thanks to Guzma's influence.
Examples: [x] [x] [x]
Alder: Comfort is king, so his clothes are easy to move in. And sometimes a little on the shabby side, as well. Doesn't really bother if things are a touch of the threadbare side, and likes the aesthetic a poncho gives him. Often chooses quite neutral colours, shades of whites, blacks, beige. Maybe with a bit of pale orange thrown in to compliment his hair colour, too.
Knit sweatshirts, maybe a long-ish cardigan over a t-shirt.
Examples: [x] [x] [x]
Guzma: Baggy, black and white, with maybe a bit of gold or purple thrown in for good measure. Tries to go for a typical "hard man"/"gangster" type look. Sometimes with big, chunky gold chains, drop crotch joggers, trainers, akin to his canon look. Sometimes a more punk aesthetic, in a Sex Pistols vibe. Albeit accidentally, since they were before his time.
Piercings, partially shaved hairstyles, tattoos, spikes all appeal, too. Doesn't have any real tattoos yet, but will probably get some in the future. Doesn't have any immediately visible piercings. I'll, uh, let you come to your own conclusions there.
Oh, and rude shirts. Can be rude because it's just the word "FUCK" in giant letters, can be rude because it's offensive and/or sexually crude. If it's a t-shirt you wouldn't want someone to wear around your kids, it'll suit Guzma perfectly.
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x]
Océane: A toned down version of Pen. She'll occasionally rock some expensive jewellery, but her tastes are generally less ridiculously priced and more down to earth. Lavenders and lilacs are popular with her, as are form fitting t-shirts and jeans. Often seen with short nails and a natural makeup look.
Jewellery tastes are usually kept to something black and gold. Not opposed to wearing heels, though as no stranger to working hard gardening, the nail polish and heels are much less of a guarantee with her than, say, Pen or Oleana.
Formalwear depends on the type of event. She has been seen dressed up to the nines as expected of someone from a royal bloodline, in a red and black theme, but sometimes if appropriate will wear a white trouser suit, with some gold jewellery on the more understated side of things.
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Sinclair: Sinclair basically has two modes when it comes to his dress sense. Suave, sophisticated, formal. Or a Pokeverse Joe Lycett.
Sinclair is quite typical of a Rich Person, with no qualms about spending obscene amounts of money on ridiculously expensive clothing. Out of his siblings (Océane and Lysandre @nats-rp-world), he's the least down to earth by far. Signet rings, ridiculous amounts of gold and precious gems (though was probably talked out of real diamond jewellery). Waistcoats, cufflinks, shiny shoes, ties, you get the idea. In cool greys and blues.
And then Pokeverse Joe Lycett Mode is. Well. Anything goes. Fluffy, hot pink, leopard or zebra print, leather, sunglasses
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Ghetsis: Oh. Oh God. Where do I even begin?
Pre-Plasma, he probably favoured expensive suits and jewellery similar to Sinclair when dressed as a human being and not a Muppet. With the addition of sunglasses regardless of the weather/location to hide his scarred eye. During and post-Plasma, however, when he stopped giving a fuck, he leant hard into his occult aesthetic and basically started dressing like the evil cult leader that he became.
While he has an interest in occult/supernatural/paranormal symbolism in general, his personal aesthetic has always been toward eyes, including Turkish nazars and the Egyptian Eye of Horus.
Plasma-era Ghetsis favoured long, elaborately made flowing robes, especially ones that allowed his scarred arm to be concealed completely, and/or ones with a very high collar to hide his lopsided mouth. And yet still had the audacity to pretend not to be completely evil. My man is not subtle.
Post-Plasma Dennis is just as up his own butthole with fancy, elaborate clothing. Just more with a royal theme, because hey, now everyone knows that he was the team's true king, why not lean into that particular aesthetic? Other than all the reasons of being a decent human being that we can immediately think of. Some kind of half cape or a way to hide his injured arm, gloves included, are still very much welcomed.
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Lance: Capes, capes, capes, capes, capes, capes. My boy loves a good cape.
Often seen in his dragon master outfit, or a variation of it, which there are several. Normally in dark blues, a bit of orange, and a black and red cape. Though he does have an outfit that's more red than blue, as well, ala LGPE. Though in the summers, he's more likely to be seen wearing traditional garb instead, to try and keep cool.
He favours a red, white and gold version of the outfit, due to his own Gyarados being shiny. But he does also have a black and blue version.
For shits and giggles, he also got a version of his dragon master outfit in the colours of Dragonite, though it hasn't seen much use yet. Not after Cynthia found out about it and mercilessly took the piss.
Has probably leant into his black and red (ish) cape's aesthetic to dress up as a vampire on Hallowe'en. A more casual outfit tends to be simple, jeans, jacket, t-shirt and boots. Something that can be easily thrown on.
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Giovanni: Suits all the way. Giovanni likes to look good, and he's damn well aware of when he does. Suits range from form to business casual, maybe sometimes with a turtleneck in lieu of a shirt. His outfits scream class and sophistication.
The mob boss look of a fedora and long coat has been retired, but he still appreciates the aesthetic.
And then sometimes he just dads out in Hawaiian shirts, shorts and sandals. No socks, though, he's not a complete heathen.
Silver must be so proud.
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Marnie: Black teamed with pastel pink, leather, spikes. Basically punk aesthetic. Marnie joins Guzma in an appreciation for tattoos, shaved hairstyles and piercings, and like Ghetsis (no, I didn't expect this comparison, either), has an interest in occult symbolism. Though Marnie's interests more lie in witchcraft than general occultism.
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Mustard: Sports jackets and jaunty hats. Like Alder, Mustard prefers clothes that are easy to move in. Which is understandable, given the fact that this is a ripped old man who is still in sufficient shape to perform fuckin' flips and shit.
He's often seen exercising in a karate gi. Barefoot if he's in the dojo, and in trainers if he's outside. Which granted, don't really go together, but it's Mustard. Eccentric old man gives zero fucks.
As well as the hat he's seen in game, he also takes a shine to pork pie and bowler hats. Usually in darker colours, but brightened up with a nice teal, or yellow. Sometimes he'll sport a t-shirt with something silly/funny on it. Though unlike Guzma, his can actually be appropriately worn in public.
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Rose: Professional Farhad favours fancy suits, usually in a sleek grey, accented with red. A suit in general will do the job for him when he has to look formal, but that's definitely his preferred signature look. No matter what, however, his tie will be sporting a rose knot. The rose knot is non-negotiable. Partly for the obvious reason of relating to his name, but also because it just looks damn impressive.
He often keeps an earring in one ear and a lot of the time it's an impressive looking stud, but unlike the more pretentious (or wanky) muses like Ghetsis or Sinclair, Farhad doesn't care about getting the real deal, the most expensive thing. A simple stud or hoop is plenty sufficient.
Professional mode or not, he's also not even slightly afraid to rock some eyeliner. It makes him look amazing and he doesn't give a shit about how "socially acceptable" it is for a man, and doesn't try and make it sound more masculine by referring to it as "guyliner".
When partaking in religious holidays, he opts for a simple black yarmulke.
Casual Rose isn't quite as eye-bleedingly horrible as in the past. He might still try and disguise himself with a pair of sunglasses and a change of wardrobe, but no more eye-watering polka dot shorts. His non-professional wear leans more toward business casual nowadays, seeing how "incognito mode" never really worked. So on a day to day basis, he's seen in polo shirts and jeans, often in varying shades of purple or red.
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Leon: Who wears short shorts? Leon wears short shorts! Leon is often seen in clothes that can be easily exercised in. Partly because he does a lot of it, and partly because he likes that they tend to draw attention to his figure. Little shirts, tight tops and one of the many, many hats from his collection.
He is also a fan of neon 80s patterns. Particularly the neon ones that look like the carpet in an arcade. He also genuinely enjoys a nice regal, fur lined cape. It's just a shame that he decided to plaster sponsorships all over the back of it...
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Peony: In contrast to the bright orange expedition outfit that he debuted in, Peony's fashion sense is quite toned down and dark. Greys and black mainly. During his teens, however, he was another one for punk fashion.
Like Rose, he also unashamedly wears makeup, and is occasionally seen with a yarmulke during holidays (Hashem verse only).
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x]
Oleana: Minus the odd choker that Oleana enjoys wearing, her fashion sense is more often than not kept looking professional, in shades of red and black. Rose themed jewellery is a lot of the time considered too "on the nose", but every now and then she'll indulge.
She keeps her nails professionally manicured, painted red, and short. And similarly to Pen, has a penchant for high heels.
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Maxie: A lot of the times, Maxie keeps it simple in the Hoenn heat, in just shirts and shorts. Accompanied by socks and sandals, unfortunately. But still. He finds the whole disgust of socks/sandals to be overdone, and therefore won't let it stop him from wearing them if he wants to.
And then sometimes he'll find something really truly, spectacularly hideous and be unable to resist buying it just for shits and giggles.
Examples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
Bede:
Tumblr media
This probably goes without saying.
Any and all shades of pink are fair game for Bede, usually with blue jeans and white trainers, for everyday wear. He likes to accessorise with the gold watch from Rose, and a choker, either plain black, or in subtle bi pride colours depending on how confident he's feeling about his sexuality. He also has his ears pierced, and an industrial bar through one.
Also, being a teenage edgelord, it's not unexpected to see him in tops that have slogans like "I don't care", "I hate everyone", or something else equally delightful printed on the front.
A few things with a rose on them are in his wardrobe as well, because... well, Father.
And the toe shoes have long since been binned.

Too Many Video Games [Read on AO3]
- o - o - o -
Because Ryuji and Akira were the kind of “thick as thieves” that meant no secrets, not ever, Ryuji could be understandably miffed that when it came to the ever-controversial topic of soulmates, Akira only said, “I’ve already met mine.”
Ryuji, who still had no idea who the long, crooked line on his wrist was supposed to represent, scowled.
“What the hell?” and “How?” and “Who is it?” fell together in a messy jumble over his tongue and out of his mouth. He could hear his mother’s voice now, scolding, “Slow down, Ryuji. Breathe. You’re the only person I know who could drown simply by speaking.”
Akira smiled enigmatically and did that thing he always did when he was thinking: pinched a strand of curly dark hair between his fingers and twisted.
Ryuji wasn’t impressed. “Really, dude? You’re not gonna tell me?”
So finally Akira chuckled and pulled down his sleeve to reveal a boxy and cool-as-fuck looking Hercules gleaming on the underside of his wrist. The constellation was boxy, with legs that hurricaned outward. It was sick.
“And that is…?”
“The who is private.”
“What, really?!”
“Really.”
But no matter how hard Ryuji pushed and begged and pleaded, it was the one and only secret Akira kept from him.
It was infuriating.
- o - o - o -
Most people wore bands around their wrists; others didn’t. That wasn’t anything new. It was one of those unspoken understandings that the stars your soulmate was born under was a piece of private information you decided who and when to share with and how. Some people were like Ann who always changed out her wristband to match her outfit and had who-knew-how-many bangles and scrunchies and other accessories she’d gathered just to look cute and keep the stars on her wrist secret. Others were like Mr. Sakura who had no interest in the business of soulmates and kept his wrist bare for anyone to see the Ursa Major there.
Some people, on the other hand, were like Akechi, who always wore long sleeves no matter the weather and usually gloves and never were caught swimming. Ever.
It was those people who typically had more than one constellation, but that wasn’t a very common occurrence.
It was rare when a person had a whole piece of the sky chunked out and wrapped around their hand, winding up their arm, gorgeous and multi-faceted. In ancient times, theories had been that those unique individuals were able to call nearly anyone they met a soulmate who was born under at least one of those stars; in modern times, more theories were coming out that the more constellations on your body, the more specific your soulmate had to be. That soulmate had to have been born under that exact window of the sky.
At least, that’s what Ryuji heard on TV.
He figured that’s what Akechi had and why he wrapped himself up so much and so often and so tightly.
And then the day came when they were meeting to plan an infiltration into Sae Niijima’s palace. Ryuji, who arguably knew Akira better than anyone else, thought he was acting strange. Usually, Akira had the window seat in the LeBlanc booth the Thieves unofficially claimed as their own. It wasn’t as though Akira wasn’t allowed to sit anywhere else, but the instant he swung a hand at Ryuji in a very gentlemanly, You first, Ryuji felt something was off.
But it wasn’t a big deal and he wasn’t a sissy so after Ann climbed in, he scooched beside her and Akira sat on the outside. Haru, Yusuke, and Makoto clambered over into the opposite bench and Akechi and Futaba pulled up a few tall chairs from the counter.
They talked.
And they had talked about this plan so much lately that Ryuji felt like he already had it memorized, so he slouched over his crossed arms and let his chin dig into the purple of his jacket sleeve and closed his eyes and thought man, no wonder Morgana likes taking naps in sunlight; this is great--
--when Akechi, jokingly in response to a jibe from Makoto, hummed, “By the strength of my stars, are you doubting me?”
And it wasn’t like Ryuji had never heard people make those kind of expressions before. By the strength of my stars. The sprawl of my stars. Let no one but my stars be the judge of me.
It was just that people usually said something like that because that phrase held a connotation with the stars they were born under. Ryuji heard the word “strength” out of Akechi’s mouth and he remembered there was that old, animated Disney movie he used to love as a kid about the super-strong son of a god and his back snapped ramrod straight.
He would have probably talked his own self out of it all, too, if Akira hadn’t reacted the way he did, pressing his glasses up his nose and sharing a humored Look with Akechi, his arm close enough to brush against Akechi’s knee.
Akechi met his look in turn, a distinctive curl to his mouth that looks almost handsome and--
--oh my god.
Akira fucking took the outside seat for a reason.
Ryuji’s mouth dropped open, brown eyes enormous. He thought he might get whiplash from how fast his head spun back and forth and back and forth between Akira and Akechi and the dopey-eyed, disgusting Look they were still sharing while Makoto was still talking and oh my god. Oh my god.
Akira’s soulmate is Goro Akechi.
“Ryuji?” Haru chimed from the other side of the table. Her head tilted, pretty mouth pinched in concern. “Are you all right?”
“You--”
Akechi and Akira took one look at him and without needing to look at each other, they moved.
Akira’s hand slammed over his mouth before he could say another word; the other hand fisted into the back of his purple jacket and yanked him out of the booth so quickly and messily, Ryuji’s knee banged up against the bottom and nearly upended all of the team’s coffee and notes spread over the table.
Makoto squawked. Futaba yelped, feet jumping up onto the edge of her tall chair. Akechi hurried the both of them around the counter. They nearly ran into Mr. Sakura on their way into LeBlanc’s kitchens while he was on his way out, toweled hands laden with a fresh, steaming pot of curry. The man swore wildly as he lifted the giant pot, stumbling back out of their way. Then the door swung shut and Akira finally released Ryuji once his back was pressed to one of the two steel ranges lining the back.
“Wha--” But Ryuji didn’t get a chance to ask a damn thing because nearly immediately afterward, Akira and Akechi spared another glance, and then Akira turned around and fucking left him there in the kitchen with his soulmate, who, last Ryuji was sure about, they weren’t even really sure about. “What the hell was all that for?!”
“You don’t know how to be subtle,” Akechi muttered as if it was supposed to be enough of an explanation.
It wasn’t.
“You!” Ryuji sputtered. “You and Akira!”
“We--” Akechi looked like he was about to say something else but then thought better of it, biting the words back before they had a chance to slip free. “--yes.”
“You and Akira.”
“You said that.”
“I can’t fucking believe--”
“--you don’t have to say it that loudly, do you?”
That set Ryuji off again; he nearly screeched. “And you guys are keeping it secret!”
“Of course,” Akechi said as the kitchen door finally swung open again and Akira wandered back in. His slender fingers were wrapped around the handle of a small, ceramic cup of coffee. “I should think even someone as monkey-brained as you knows that it’s our business when and where and how people know the nature of our relationship.”
“Y-yeah, but--”
And then Ryuji’s entire front turned cold because Akira fucking dumped the coffee over his front.
“What the hell, man?!” Ryuji shrilled. He would have backed up further, trying to get away from this horrid abuse of their friendship, but the edge of the range still dug into the small of his back and his shoes squeaked uselessly against the floor tiles. “What’d you go and do that for? That’s fucking cold!”
“No. It’s hot,” Akira coolly said and Ryuji’s first thought was that he’s been playing too many video games.
“The FUCK?”
Akechi somehow picked up whatever it was Akira put down because he sighed like this entire conversation was taxing. His arms crossed over his chest. Akira handed a paper towel roll to Ryuji. “Consider it our cover story. The three of us looked rather conspicuous running into LeBlanc’s kitchens as fast as we did.”
Ryuji tore the paper towel roll out of Akira’s hand. “Excuse you. I was dragged.”
“Regardless, you will tell them you spilled coffee on yourself and it was so hot you could have suffered severe burns, so you are grateful Akira and I were as quick-thinking as we were to cart you off to the kitchen sink to resolve the situation and help you as fast as possible. Understand?”
Ryuji looked up, squeezing his yellow shirt dry and dimly realizing his mother was probably going to make him do the laundry (again). “That’s it?”
“That’s it,” Akechi confirmed. Akira nodded.
“You’re not gonna say anything else?” Ryuji swung a hand at his ruined shirt. “Not like, ‘Sorry you had to find out this way, Ryuji,’ or ‘Hey, bud, I know this is like, breaking news, but if you keep this a secret, I’ll make it up to you.’” Ryuji stopped and gasped loudly. “Blackmail.”
“You wouldn’t.”
“I could!” Ryuji tried to meet Akechi’s hard stare with his own but hated how transparent his own damn heart was. He sighed. “Fuck.” Then, he thought better of it. “Actually, speaking of--”
“--we’re not talking about our sex life, Ryuji.”
Of course Akira knew what he was thinking. Of course that whole “knowing each other better than anyone else” and “thick as thieves” thing was being turned around to bite him in the ass. Of course.
Damn.

When going shopping for junk food, what's the first thing you pick up? I like to get some Hostess or Little Debbie snacks now and then.
How would you react if you found out you had a long lost sister? Wow. I’d be completely shocked to say the least and have a lot of questions. It’d be such a weird feeling. I’ve always wanted a sister.
At sleepovers, do you usually stay up all night or actually go to sleep? I was always the last to fall asleep and the first to wake up. I hardly slept at all.
Is there anything in the room you're in that's really dusty? Yes. The top of my bookshelf and some stuff on another shelf of mine could use some dusting.
Do you know anybody with different colored eyes? Nope.

Have you ever done that? No.
Would you consider McDonald's a restaurant? You can eat inside, but they don’t bring the food to you or wait on you, though. Aren’t those things part of what makes a restaurant a restaurant as well or no?

Anyone wanna hear my headcanons for how the sides developed, focusing on why Janus first came into existence as a part of Thomas?
no? too bad here we go
writing this down mostly as reference for myself as to the young sides timeline. let me know if none of this makes any sense, i’m still working it out as i type
So, for the first, like, 4 years of Thomas’s life, the sides don’t really exist as we know them. They start out as nebulous entities but slowly develop personalities and a sense of ‘personhood’.
Logan starts out as curiosity and develops into Logic as he learns (what happens if we touch a hot thing? ow that hurts! don’t like that. hot things bad). Virgil starts out as Fear based in self-preservation. Patton starts out as Thomas’s emotions but then takes on the Christian morality instilled in him, and that moral influence causes the separation of Thomas’s budding Creativity into Good and Bad.
In the brief time between the sides first becoming proper Sides and Thomas starting school, Good Creativity, who also embodies Thomas’s Hopes and Dreams, his Ego, will conflict with Morality over wanting Thomas to pursue his own self-interest. Early Logic is also framed around doing the things which maximize Thomas’s success and wellbeing, though he defines those differently from Roman. Remember the episode Growing Up? It’s like that, but instead of it being Patton’s immaturity that Logan and Roman see as holding Thomas back, it’s his goody-two-shoes-ness.
So we have two sides arguing for different versions of “selfishness” when Patton argues for selflessness. Meanwhile, Logic and Roman obviously also get into disagreements; Fear’s out here arguing with everyone ala early season 1; and Remus is causing chaos, but it’s comparably not that chaotic. No one side is “the boss”. No side is seen as purely “bad”, even Remus. Everything is perfectly balanced.
But then Thomas starts school (first grade, not kindergarten). On one hand, suddenly Logic, aka curiosity, has a whole new use that he wholly dedicates himself to, electing to stay out of more and more seemingly unrelated conversations.
On the other hand, suddenly Remus’s chaos is actively disruptive for more than just an hour a week. And once Remus is being seen as not just ‘bad creativity’, but Bad, Roman starts trying to define himself as Not That. Influenced by his love of Disney and fantasy in general, he takes on the persona of the Prince and the chivalrous Knight. And because Morality is the arbiter of what is Good and honorable, Roman goes along with whatever he says.
So now that Logic has specialized and Roman’s on Morality’s team, Morality is the most influential side in Thomas’s everyday life. He doesn’t really get that himself (cause ya know he’s a kid), which means he isn’t exactly wielding that new authority responsibly. The side that should be Thomas’s Ego is no longer pushing back, no longer advocating for Thomas to act selfishly. And if Logic won’t pick up the slack, and Fear can’t (because he’s too risk-averse), and Remus can’t (because no one takes him seriously)...
Well. One day there’s someone else. He’s (seemingly) as developed as the other Sides, he even has a color - yellow. But no one really knows what he’s supposed to do. Not even Yellow himself. All he knows is he’s here for Thomas.
(we’re assuming they all had colors to start even though Virgil didn’t wear purple in season 1 because shush)
Off the bat, he’s assigned the role of “keeping Remus out of things”, cause it gives him something to do and no one else can/wants to. Then, as soon as Morality goes back to having Thomas be selfless, Yellow finds himself instinctively driven to argue for Thomas’s self-interest.
He’s initially not great at it. He quickly learns that, if he wants the others to really listen to him, he’ll have to act like he knows what he’s doing and why he’s here, even when he doesn’t. And hey, if he does it long enough, surely he will find his purpose. Fake it ‘til you make it. Or, to put it another way...
I am the first one I deceive / If I can make myself believe / The rest is easy
So he acts becomes more self-assured; more assertive; more abrasive. He doesn’t get along with the main three, because of that, and the fact that he’s usually accompanied by Remus. When he isn’t engaging with them, Yellow stays out of their way. And Fear, who was previously the argumentative one and whose attempts at taking the reins for Thomas have previously gone... poorly, ends up hanging with Yellow and Remus mostly because he has nowhere else to go.
So now there’s a vague sense of a divide amongst the Sides. Roman picks up on it, and his insecurities make him want to further distinguish himself from the other creativity, from one of the “bad guys”. Which is how he gets the idea for the Sides to give themselves names.
From there we get the events of Name Fic, which I plan to write at... some point... and then, a few years later, Janus finds out what his purpose actually is when he and Virgil commit to the horrible no good very bad lie (pls read my fic). Shortly after that, the line between the “light” and “dark” sides becomes “official”.
There’s where I’ll leave it for now. To sum up my point, Janus exists mainly because Roman, as Thomas’s ego, failed to argue for Thomas’s self-interest enough when he was a kid, because his insecurity over being “good” lead him to (almost) always capitulate to Patton.
In other words, in another timeline, SvS (the original episode) would have been a conflict between Patton and Roman. And you know what? I think Janus, to some extent, knows it.
“I know you're lying Roman. Like I said, everything has a purpose, and you're denying yours. You want that callback so bad, and it will crush you if we miss it.”
The question is whether the others - particularly Roman - see it that way.
I’d love to hear other people’s perspectives on this whole idea :)

Chinese article on their observation of how much more popular Mulan is in the West than in China.
Date:  2018-08-17
<Translation>
How popular is "Mulan" in the eyes of foreigners? More so than in China.
When you mention Hua Mulan, I believe every Chinese person will have an impression that is more or less the same. Even if you were not forced to learn the original ballad, you should have at least heard the story of Mulan taking her father’s place in the army.
But this is a well-known heroine in China. After flying across the sea to the United States and Europe, it immediately became foreign, and it seemed to become more popular than in China. Don't believe me?
Last week, Disney released a new trailer for the latest animation "Ralph Breaks the Internet", along with a group photo of Disney girls:
Tumblr media
These are all characters in the "Disney Princess" series. In addition to the characters in the animated movies that we are familiar with in recent years, the girl with black hair and yellow skin on the right is the focus of this image. She is the Mulan designed by Disney animators.
If you want to use the "ranking theory" commonly used by the Chinese people to analyze things, Mulan is sitting firmly in the top three.
To know that compared to the few girls who have been in the public eye in recent years, Mulan's last appearance in Disney's animation has to be traced back to "Mulan 2" in 2004. For Chinese audiences, the 1998 movie "Mulan" is more familiar. This classic animation movie on IMDB scored 7.6, Rotten Tomato freshness was 86%, and it won the Oscar and Golden Globe Awards. Nominated, US $304 million at the global box office.
As the image of Hua Mulan created by Disney is very different from the image of the traditional Mulan military story, it has become a girl who is very in line with the aesthetics of Europeans and Americans. I have to say that she may have become one of the most influential Chinese stories in the hearts of foreigners.
There is strong evidence to prove this argument. Soon after this new Wreck It Ralph image was published, foreign netizens were immediately inspired and enthusiastically created fan art for Mulan.
Tumblr media
This is the result of searching for "mulan" on Tumblr. The top pictures are all over 30,000 notes. The creation time was after the image was released by Disney, and the Mulan in each picture was almost all wearing the same modern day casual outfit. The red sports jacket with two dragons printed on the chest.
Let’s look at a few examples:
Yellow skin, black hair, black eyes, red jacket with a dragon pattern, lantern symbolizing Chinese culture, and as for the action...It is a bit like a Jackie Chan action movie. These may be foreigners' first perception of Chinese culture. By the way, this picture is the one with the highest praise for Mulan found on Tumblr.

In all these creations, the themes are generally divided into three categories: One is a re-creation of an original Mulan image of two Disney animations, and the other two have nothing to do with the movie, but one reflects "Chinese Kung Fu", and the other reflects everyday life.
Such as:
Tumblr media
This one has a bit of "A Chinese Odyssey" flavor:
Tumblr media
Generally speaking, most of the fan art are street style, but these have a very thick American flavor, which is far from the usual image of Mulan in our minds, let alone the princess or the army. I thought it was an Asian or foreign student:

If you are tired of this sort, you can also change the style of art:

Do you see anything in common from these fan arts? Converse shoes and sports team jackets are the champions...
Tumblr media
Some people may be curious to know what sorcery makes Hua Mulan so popular with foreign audiences. This may be due to many factors.
Objectively speaking, she is part of an Oriental culture, and Chinese Kung Fu naturally attracts them.
Secondly, the story of Hua Mulan's father joining the army fits the consistent Western woman's belief of pursuing independence and equal rights. In this regard, when Disney interpreted this story, they made a lot of changes in order to be more in line with European and American thinking. They abandoned some traditional Chinese cultural meaning, which also made her shift away from her original appearance in Chinese ancient books, but more popular with Western audiences.
In addition, Disney's success in art design is also obvious. This Asian face of Mulan may not be associated with us when we recite "The Ballad of Mulan", but it really caters to the aesthetic taste of Westerners towards East Asian faces. This also provides a good basis for fan creations.
If you have to find some more reasons for the above points, the poster and the fans may just catch up with Liu Yifei in the live-action "Mulan" movie. Regardless of whether we think that Liu Yifei is suitable or inappropriate of the role, from the foreigners' comments and the number of likes or forwarding, we can almost see that most of them think "This is absolutely reliable!"

So, do you now know how popular Mulan is abroad?
Original text:
get off the roof!!!(我从屋顶上下来了!!!)图片来源:Sacin @Tumblr
Cecile@Twitter
图片来源:C A M@Twitter
看腻了的话,还可以换一种画风:
图片来源:hieu@Twitter
图片来源:M.Y@Twitter

The Fats follows a evolved fox-rat family of 8 brothers and 1 sister as they fight a human mad scientist and other threats to humanity alongside their adaptive father/mentor, 2 human allies and other cross-animals in the distant future while trying to accept each other as family. Patriot Fat(voiced by James Arnold Taylor) is the “den-mother and leader of the team and is the most calm and experienced member, but hurt his family and he will hunt you down to the ends of the Earth. He is a hard-headed and serious cone, scolding his siblings when they don't follow orders. He is colored brown, blue pants, has a red belt, black gloves and boots and has blue eyes.
Wreck Fat(voiced by Nolan North) is the most angry and self-loathing loner of the group. He often argues with Patriot about who should be leader of the team. However, they will work together when the situation calls of it.He has intense arm firepower, wiping out enemies in a matter of seconds. He is coloured grey, speaks with a New Yorker accent, red pants, red belt and hazel eyes.
Engineer Fat(voiced by Yuri Lowenthal) is the kind-hearted, calm and gentle pacifist and inventor of the team. He is socially awkward and book smart so much so that his sibling cannot keep up with him. Even though he shows a greater interest in technology than his training, nevertheless, he will defend his family and fight his opponents when there is no other choice. He is also skeptical as he believes humans do not exist and that animals have always been the sole species of Earth. He has red eyes, has a mole on his right cheek, has a cyborg arm, has metallic yellow pants, a blue belt and is coloured silver.
Mischief Fat(Voiced by Mikey Kelley) is the most wild, funny, immature and party-loving surfer dude of the team. He loves riding on his hoverboards, fighting evil and is extremely creative with arts. He is also a member of the Prank Trio along with Runt and Bullsnark. He wants to be part of the human world and he will convince his family to do the same by any means necessary. He also serves as an unofficial second-in-command  whenever he comes up with brilliant plans that save the day or gets the Fats out of life-threatening situations, becoming the closest thing a team has to a second leader. He also has a sad side as he borders on depression as a result of spending years with his siblings and father on a island. He is coloured Yellow, has freckles, dark blue pants, a gold belt, has a beard at 16 years old and has green eyes.
Angel Fat(Voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessy) is the smart, tomboyish, arrogant and independent tech support of the team and bit of a narcissist and will often bring on about her intelligence. As the only female member of the family, she always has the best of intentions. She is coloured yellow, has a gap between two of her front teeth and has green eyes. She is a great mathematician as she can easily hack into any computer data base by correctly guessing their security codes, Unlike the rest of her family(who wear pants, gloves(except for Buster, Engineer and Growly), shoes and are shirtless), she has blond hair, wears a Fat shirt, is coloured mix-purple/Yellow as a result from a lab accident, has a pink belt and gloves and blue shorts with sockings.
Buster Fat(voiced by Steve Blum) is the biggest and most strongest member of the family. He loves training all day and he hates it when his sibling interrupt him. However, he has a good heart and will go by any means to protect them. He also cares for normal animals, fighting to his last breath to save them. He is coloured green, speaks with a Brooklyn accent, has dark green pants, yellow belt, black boots and has golden eyes.
Runt Fat(voiced by Josh Keaton) is the most dim-witted and dizy, yet lovable member of the team. He’s been part of the Prank Trio since Day One and is often made fun of his stupidity by siblings, however when the situation is necessary, it ultimately proves to be his greatest strength. He is also something of a womaniser as he tries to say something to cross-animal females, but can't bring out the exact words and he is the most gullible of the family, causing him believe whatever lies are told to him, even causing him to betray his family, only to rejoin them in one of the future games. Nonetheless, he is one of the most purest cross-animals, never truely joining evil and always finding out to know the truth about himself and his family. He is coloured red and has one red eye and one hazel eye.
Bullsnark Fat(voiced by Roger Craig Smith) is the adventure-loving everyman slacker, jester-like and thrill-seeker who wishes to travel the world. He is sarcastic, playful and completely devoid of cynicism. He is also one of the member of the Prank Trio along with Mischief and Runt. He’s very loyal to his family and always stands up for them and keeps his promises despite his impulsive and impatient nature. He can be sentimental when villains threaten the world and won't stop until they're defeated and can provide tactical strategies. He is coloured orange, has black boots and gloves, yellow pants, a blue belt and has purple eyes.
Growly Fat(voiced by Trevor Devall) is the strict and irritable, yet caring and kind-hearted powerhouse who breaks up fights between the family. He is prone to anger when someone pranks or tricks him, but deep down, he loves his family very much. He was born somewhere in Mississippi and he is also a history junkie as he collects every newspaper, article and art of the world's history. He isn't fond of humans too much until much later on in the game. He is coloured blue, speaks with a Southern accent, dark grey pants, green belt, black boots, and has blue eyes.
Hopper Frog(voiced by Billy West) is the mean, brash, cocky, militaristic and demanding yet kind-hearted father of the Fats, but as the game progresses, he becomes a more supportive, caring and wise parental figure. He has a soft spot for children and he will be a role model to them whenever he sees them. At the beginning of the game, he is overprotective of the Fats, fearing they could die if they go into the human world, but throughout the game, he accepts that his children are teenagers now and he says that he is proud of them. He wears a green military uniform with no pants, speaks like a mad scientist and has brown eyes.
Sarah Stewart(voiced by Jennifer Hale) is the most beautiful, kindhearted and attractive teenage girl the Fats have ever known. She was abused in school and she has recently graduated from high school to apply for science. She can also sense betrayal in strangers she doesn't know. She is also an orphan as she lives with her aunt, uncle and their daughter. She is a blond teenage girl with pink sleeveless shirt and blue jeans. She also has light freckles on her nose and baby blue eyes.
Peter Braxton(voiced by Ben Diskin) is the comedic, shy and loyal sports player whose life is forever changed when he meets the Fats. He is like a modern-day Prince Charming and he has a crush on Sarah Stewart when he first sees her, but does not kiss her until the end of the first game, He also becomes best friends with Wreck and Growly throughout the game as they play hologram games together. He is also a pacifist as he lost his father in a flying car accident and starts campaigns and TV ads to prevent anyone from suffering the same fate. He is a black haired teenage boy with orange eyes, a sports jumper and brown pants.
Dr. Otto Jekyll(voiced by Mike Pollock) is a highly selfish, insane, cocky and arrogant mad scientist and the main antagonist of the series. He wants to end peace and liberty on Earth and will do it by gaining control of the world's governments, police and money. He is also a deceptional liar as he constantly lies to the Fats and their friends, trying to convince them that he can help people have more improved lives until the end of the first game when he reveals his true motives. He is an mildly obese man with balding brown hair with a goatee and a lab coat with red clothing and black and white rubber gloves and boots. He also has yellow eyes. Gaming Mechanics:
1. The video game series will be an open-world where you can play side-missions and help people in addition to the main story. You can also visit other countries in free-roam in the game.
2. You can use multiplayer as 4 of the each titular 9 Fats with the ability to change between the 8 other Fats until all 9 are all dead and the game resets.
3. You can have collectibles, art and unlock new weapons throughout each level of the game.
4. You can also play as the human characters Sarah Stewart and Peter Braxton in stealth missions.
5. Once you’ve completed the game, you can revisit any of the levels. So you won't have to worry getting through 13 hours without completing the entire game 100%.
6. As I said, you can fire weapons with 2 of the Fats, Engineer and Angel who are the tech support of the team while the rest of the team fight hand to hand.
7. The game will have the feel of a Disney movie , Thomas Perkins-like art, the art of Ratchet & Clank and the backgrounds of Young Justice and The Super Hero Squad while still rendered as a 3D dimensional video game.
And lastly, here’s the title for the prequel tie-in novel: The Raoxs: Animals of Science.
Series Outline:Set in an utopian future where all war, problems and disease has been wiped out, the Fats live on a peaceful island with their adaptive Frog father, Hopper Frang, but they have never truly accepted each other as family or understood their father’s lectures, even starting a war with one another once. On their 16th birthday, they are allowed to leave the island and venture into the Human world. But when a scientist named Dr. Otto Jekyll(a pun on the Dr. Jekyll character from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde) becomes Dr. Peace-Destroyer and threatens to end the era of peace by conquering the world, the Fats are forced to come to term with their calling as a family and what it means to be heroes with the help of 17-year old science intern (smart blond) Sarah Stewart and 18-year old Sports player Peter Braxton.
This would be a Playstation 4 and Playstation 5-exclusive and would be rated E+10 for more cartoon, fantasy or mild violence, mild language, and/or minimal suggestive themes.

The Happiest Place on Earth (is When We’re Together) Part 2/2
This is technically a late entry for day three of saiou week but since it is legitimately more than four months late, I’m not going to describe it as such. But! It’s a part two of its previous part one-
(In which Shuichi loves everything about Kokichi, from his unbreachable veil of lies, to his annoying, yet somehow unexplainably endearing personality, and everything in between (but he can’t admit it because he thinks Kokichi might be lying about his own feelings towards Shuichi.)
Also, they go to Disney World together! :} :}
Rated T: for crude language and sexual innuendos.)
It’s not the alarm that wakes Shuichi up in the morning…
He’s woken up by a loud, startling, “HAAAAAI-YAAHH!” accompanied by a loud thump, followed by the sensation of pain where his body meets the floor, and then more pain everywhere else as something falls on top of him.
“Uggghh,” a pained moan resonates from above him as a hand pushes him closer to the floor.
Kokichi pushes himself up, still disoriented, and realizes he’s been attacked in his sleep.
He looks up and faces his assailant. “So you think it’s a good idea to disrupt an evil supreme leader’s sleep, huh?” He asks as he gets to his feet, only just realizing Shuichi must’ve been the one to break his fall, since he’s underneath him, and the pain in his own body is concentrated at his stomach where he was kicked instead of anywhere else. “What’s your goal?”
“I should ask you the same thing!” She points at him accusingly. “What were you planning sneaking in our room during the night! Such suspicious behavior is fitting for a degenerate male.”
Shuichi sits up, rubbing his head with a groan. His surroundings tell him that he was pushed off of the bed, blanket and all.
“Nyeh? What time is it?” Himiko raises her head from her pillow, her hair thoroughly tangled from sleep.
Shuichi glances at the digital clock on the night table. “It’s… seven o’clock.”
“Too early,” she mutters before collapsing back on the bed.
Shuichi rubs his eyes and stands to his feet. “We should get ready.”
“First, explain what you were doing in here!” Tenko commands.
“Weeelll, the manager of this resort came by to tell us we had to sleep in this room or they’d kick us all out!” He prattles falsehoods.
Shuichi amends the statement with the truth. “We traded beds with Maki and Kaito.”
Himiko perks up again, “huh? Why would you do that.”
“Miu was trying to fuck Keebo with us in the room!” He exclaims.
“Kokichi, stop lying.” Himiko seems oddly annoyed. It must be because she’s tired.
“Actually, that’s not a lie,” Shuichi assures them.
“What!? Tenko will set them straight!” She proclaims as she swings open the door to the other room and starts scolding them. Shuichi, from his position on the floor, can see Maki packing some knives away into her backpack. He really hopes she doesn’t plan on taking them into the park.
Kokichi shuts the door behind her and the upcoming mayhem, grinning wildly. “Whatcha guys waiting for? We’re going to Disney!”
“Ah...” the detective yawns.
“I wanna go back to sleep…” For her next trick, the magician disappears under the covers.
--
“Hey, that wasn’t too bad. We might not be the first ones on this bus, but we still got seats!” Kaito hits them with some positivity.
Maki’s shockingly awake, and Shuichi never expected she’d be a morning person.
“How the hell do people wake up this early?” Miu asks rhetorically before chugging down a thermos of hot coffee.
Keebo smiles beside her and hands out breakfast snacks that he packed for all of them.
Shuichi takes a granola bar. “Thank you.”
“This doesn’t make up for you’re unforgivable behavior, vermin!” Tenko makes sure he knows that much before grabbing an apple from his hand and furiously wiping it with her shirt before biting it.
Himiko’s sleeping on Tenko’s shoulder, and none of them are convinced she woke up at all to get ready; Tenko carried her to the bus stop, and she hasn’t spoken once.
“Nee-heehee!” Shuichi isn’t sure why Kokichi’s drinking Panta this early, but he is. “Shuichi! Did you download that app I told you about?”
The detective cocks his head to the side, before he remembers. “Ah, yea.”
“Open it up! C’mon.”
So he does; it’s kind of like charades with talking, and there’s a Disney themed category. Kokichi mentioned how it would be a good way to pass time before they visited. He chooses a total of four teams, since there are eight of them, and passes the phone to Kokichi.
“I’m gonna win!”
“Huh?” Kaito looks over.
“We’re all gonna play. Tenko, wake Himiko up or I’ll have Shuichi poison that apple like an evil old lady!”
“I won’t let him!” Tenko fights back.
“I-I wouldn’t do that!” Shuichi waves his hands in front of his face frantically, looking more than a little worried. The outburst, however, does the trick. Himiko slowly blinks her eyes and yawns.
“What is it?”
“We’re gonna play a game, m-kay?” Kokichi grins, showing off his teeth.
“Nyeh, okay.”
“What’re you guys playing?” Miu asks, raising an eyebrow and tucking her thermos away.
“You too! We put it on our forehead and our teammate describes it without saying what it is. If they guess it, tilt the phone down, and tilt up to skip.”
“I don’t trust that you won’t cheat.”
Kokichi sticks out his tongue. “Ugh, fine then, you can go first Harumaki.”
“Don’t call me that.” She glares threateningly as he passes her the phone.
She lifts the phone to her head and the game begins. “Kaito, describe them.”
“Uhhh..” he squints. “Skip that one.”
Keebo opens his mouth to speak, but then he realizes it’s not his turn and keeps quiet.
“Oh! It’s the toy!”
“Hah, I bet you wish it was a sex toy,” Miu remarks.
“Fuck no!” Kaito yells back, before trying to explain. “He’s the space one! To infinity, and beyond!” Kaito puts a fist in the air.
“Buzz Lightyear.”
“Yeah! Oh, that guy’s real strong. He can probably do almost as many push-ups as me.”
“Strong…” Maki furrows her brows. “Hercules.”
“You got it Harumaki. Okay, now this one’s a princess. The one with the yellow dress.”
“Belle.”
“Uhh, this one. Skip it. Okay, another princess. She also wears yellow, I guess…” He scratches his goatee. “Red ribbon, I think, and short hair.”
“Snow White.”
“He’s a duck-”
“Hey! Duck is in the name, degenerate!”
“Oh, fuck, right. Skip.”
“He’s a doll, and he can’t lie. Well, he can lie, um.”
“What..?”
“His nose. It gets longer if he lies. Yeah, that’s it. It’s his nose.”
“Heh.” Miu smirks.
The ex-assassin stares. “I’m skipping.”
“Maki! Oh you know this one-” he begins when there’s a beep.
“Awwww, looks like you’re out of time!” Kokichi grabs the phone and looks at the list of characters. “You guys only got four! Hey Shuichi, put this on your head. We got this.”
“Right!” Shuichi nods, taking the phone and getting ready.
“Mmm, Shumai, you gotta tilt the phone forward a little.”
“Hah-haha! Pooichi can’t even do it right!”
“One, two, three, go! He’s the monkey in Lion King!”
Shuichi thinks for a moment. “Um… Raf-Rafiki?”
“Yup! Girl Mickey rat!”
“Wh- Minnie Mouse?”
Kokichi nods, “Nee-heehee! It’s Miu!”
“Nnnnnnnn,” Miu squirms in her seat.
“Miu? Kokichi, what?”
“Y’know, Miu. In that famous spaghetti scene from that movie with the dogs.”
Shuichi hesitates, “...Tramp?”
“Right-o! Didn’t know you had it in you Shuichi! Skip!”
“O-okay,” Shuichi stutters.
“Hmmm, Na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na!” he sings.
“Kokichi…”
“C’mon Shuichi! You can do it. If she doesn’t scare you, then nobody will!” he continues impishly.
“Cruella De Vil...”
“Good job Shumai! Oh! Oh! They’re emo like Shuichi!”
“Kokichi… I already told you I’m not like Eeyore…”
“Nee-heehee, you still got it. His mom was shot!”
“...is this really in a Disney Movie?”
“Yup! Would I lie to you, Shuichi?”
“Yes.”
“He’s a deer!”
“Right, I think I’m gonna skip.”
“Shuiichiii,” Kokichi whines, “you could’ve gotten that one. But skip this one. Hmm, oh, evil lion!”
“Scar!” The detective declares.
“Okay! Last one! Glass shoe!”
“Cinderella.”
“Yeah! Times up! We got seven! I bet no one else can beat that.” He taunts.
“Oh yeah?” Miu challenges, taking the phone and putting it on her head.
The countdown begins. Keebo frowns. “Um, I don’t know that one. Skip. That one either… Who is Scrooge McDuck?”
“You’re not supposed to say it!” Kaito exclaims.
“But who is it?” Himiko asks. All of them, except for a very focused Miu and Keebo, shrug.
“She’s a small fairy!”
“Scrooge McDuck is a small fairy?”
“No, Keebo is describing the character on Miu’s head.”
“Tinker Bell!” Miu slams her free hand down on her lap. “Hah! I’m a fuckin’ genius!”
“Correct! He is a dog.”
“I’m gonna need more than that babe.”
“My apologies! He is friends with a cat, if I remember correctly.”
“C’monn Keebo, hurry up.” Miu urges.
“He has a birthmark shaped like lightning!”
“Harry Potter?”
“Harry Potter is not a dog, nor is he Disney!”
Wh-what? I got it wrong?” Miu seems shocked as she meekly looks away.
Keebo keeps playing, already accustomed to Miu’s random bouts of timidness. “Skip! She is the significant other of Simba. She… when we watched the movie you said she has bedroom eyes...”
“Hah-hahah! Nala. All you had to say for that one was bedroom eyes. That was all I needed.”
“He was raised by animals!”
“Oooh! Gonta! Hah! I totally nailed it!”
“Gonta is not a Disney character.” Keebo asserts.
“He’s not?!” Kokichi gasps like he’s been lied to his whole life.
“He swings on vines!” Keebo stands to his feet and pounds his fists against his chest. “Aaaaaaa-auaa-aaaaaaah!”
Kokichi boos, “Kee-boooooo! Your time ran out.”
“Wait, Gonta isn’t Tarzan?” Himiko tilts her head skeptically.
Miu takes the phone down and looks over the results, the others peering over.
Kokichi laughs, “You idiots! You only got two!”
“Shut up cuck!”
“Ahahahaaha!”
“It’s our turn!” Tenko declares. She hands the phone to Himiko and eagerly waits until the mage holds it against her forehead. The round begins.
“In the morning, Himiko is usually…”
“Sleepy,” she answers correctly.
“Skip! A degenerate male that steals bread!”
“Aladdin!”
“She’s an innocent princess that’s defiled in her sleep!”
“Aurora.”
“Another degenerate, this one tries to trick a girl into leaving her parents forever!”
“Nyeh… Peter Pan.”
“Aha! His name describes him perfectly!”
“Beast.”
“She has long, golden hair!”
“Rapunzel.”
“Skip this one! And this one! She saves China!”
“Mulan.”
“The least menacing of all males!”
“The… hunchback, maybe.”
“His full name!”
“Quasimodo!”
“She’s a beautiful native princess that’s manipulated into betraying her people.”
“Pocahontas.”
“She’s a sea witch that tricks a naive mermaid!”
“Ursula.”
“A degenerate talking dog!”
“...Bolt?”
“No, another one!”
“Nyeh?” Himiko tilts her head.
“He’s friends with vermin!”
“It’s goofy!”
“Yes! Skip, ahhh, Himiko, we’re out of time.”
“Nyeh, we couldn’t have lost with my spell casting helping us.” They all glance at the screen, showing eleven correct.
“How did you do that?!” Keebo is astounded. He can’t seem to wrap his head around the fact that he and Miu were only able to answer two correctly.
Himiko’s smile brightens. “With my magic…”
 --
After making their way through the security check...
(Kaito was plucked out of the group to pass through the body scan machine, and complained, “Oh come on! I’m the suspicious one?!”
“Of course!” Tenko remarked.
Shuichi took note that Maki was able to successfully smuggle in her weapons. It was a little disconcerting, but the thought of a possible forthcoming lifetime ban from Disney World was a little more disconcerting.)
(Kokichi also begged the seven of them to rent a stroller to push him around in, but sadly, they did not.)
...They make their way through the crowd toward Tomorrowland.
Shuichi had set up fast passes for them in advance, so they would get to do more things with less waiting. Their first one was for Space Mountain, at Kaito’s request. Himiko and Tenko had mentioned that they are not a fan of big roller coasters, so they opted for a fast pass for Peter Pan’s Flight. It isn’t until later though, so they go on line for the race-track ride as the remaining six of them hurry towards the roller coaster.
Kaito’s expressions display his complete captivation with the theme of the ride, and Shuichi can just tell from that, that this is definitely Kaito’s favorite ride. Keebo is appreciating the decoration too. Kokichi is bouncing with excess energy at just riding rides in general, and all the positivity must be rubbing off on Maki; she’s smiling slightly. Miu’s pretty pumped up and isn’t making any profane jokes for the moment. Shuichi is smiling, but at them all; he’s glad to be there with them all.
The Neo-Aikido Master and the self-proclaimed mage meet up with them soon after to go on another ride in Tomorrowland; Maki’s score on the Buzz Lightyear laser shooting ride surpasses the rest of theirs by far, but Kokichi still manages to get in second place, winning against Tenko by a few points.
“Our next fast pass is for Pirates of the Carribean.” Shuichi reads off of his phone.
“Nyeh? Where is that?” Himiko asks, peering over his shoulder.
“Nee-heehee! I say we go this way until we find it!” Kokichi spins around and stops, pointing his finger in a random direction.
“Kokichi! You’re just going to get us lost again. We should stick to the map!”
“Boooring, Keeboy. Are robots only capable of coming up with predictable ideas?”
“I am not a robot!”
Shuichi looks at the map in Keebo’s hands. “It… says it’s this way.” Shuichi points.
“Good job Shumai! Your navigational skills are almost as good as Rantaro’s!” Kokichi praises gleefully.
“Kokichi! You’re doing the same thing I suggested!”
“Hmmm, nope. Shuichi using the map is waaaay different,” Kokichi lies.
“It’s not different at all!” Kaito disagrees, and Kokichi just laughs.
 --
“This ride is about me!” Kokichi claims from his seat beside Shuichi.
“No one cares,” Himiko drawls, leaning against Tenko, half watching the animatronic pirates sing.
“How is this ride about you?!” Keebo challenges.
“Don’t you know Keebo, I live a secret life as a famous pirate! I am the phantom pirate, king of the seas!”
“That’s a lie!” he accuses from the row of seats behind.
“Yup, now be quiet Keeboy! You’re disrupting the other people on the ride!”
“Kokichi, you’re the one who-!”
Kokichi shushes him, grinning. He subtly scoots closer to Shuichi, but Shuichi still notices it and tries to stop himself from blushing.
Shuichi isn’t stupid. He knows it is fairly likely that Kokichi’s interested in him romantically. His blatant proclamations along with some observed involuntary mannerisms have clued him into that much.
However, Shuichi is a detective, which means he can only make deductions; he knows it’s likely that Kokichi likes him, but he’s not sure. He has known Kokichi for years, and if there’s one thing he’s sure of, it’s that Kokichi Oma is a liar. He can’t risk reciprocating these feelings that Kokichi has been projecting, because he knows that it might be a lie, and if it is a lie, then things would get awkward, and awful, and Shuichi is happy just being next to Kokichi. If being close to Kokichi means that he has to shove down his feelings, then so be it.
 --
“Fuck it’s hot outside,” Miu states the obvious, fanning herself with her shirt.
Himiko and Tenko approach. “I knew my tracking spell would help us find you guys.”
“Hey,” Kaito greets them, “we’re about to go on the Haunted Mansion.”
“Ooooo, sounds exciting!” Tenko chirps while Himiko nods with a smile.
 --
As they get wait to get inside the elevator of the Haunted Mansion ride, Kokichi speaks up, “Hey Kaito, guess what?”
“What?”
“A whole buuuunch of riders actually died on this very ride ten years ago! People say their ghosts haunt the ride and mess with the seats! Workers even claim that some of the decorations aren’t just fake projections, but real ghosts!”
“Wh-wh-what?!” Kaito screeches, clinging to Maki, who returns Kokichi’s claim with a glare.
Miu guffaws, “hah! That’s bullshit.”
“Kokichi, everyone knows you’re lying!” Keebo points at him.
Kaito crosses his arms and avoids eye contact. “...yeah, you’re obviously lying.”
Kokichi grins, “are you sure?”
(Maki starts glaring even more than usual at Kokichi after she finally gets Kaito to stop screaming about the “definitely real” ghosts)
 --
They’re strolling through Fantasyland after eating something for lunch.
“Hey,” Kaito walks back from where he was walking ahead with Maki, “we’re about to go on, uh… the teacups.” He points towards the Wonderland-themed ride.
“It’s a mad tea party!” Kokichi grins.
“Me and Keebo are gonna go on Splash Mountain instead.”
“Isn’t the wait for that, two hours?” Shuichi inquires.
“Yeah? So? ...I just wanna get soaked.”
There’s a relative groan of annoyance at the innuendo.
“We’ll meet you guys at Cosmic Ray’s after,” she informs them, remembering the name from Kaito when he was talking about where he could get a burger.
 --
 “Wheeee! Shuichi, isn’t this fun?”
“Kokichi, could you please slow down?” Shuichi doesn’t mind going fast, but this is… very fast. He’d like to go a little bit slower, at least.
“Hmmm, fine, but only for you, my beloved.” Kokichi smiles wide.
Shuichi’s cheeks turn pink.
“Oh for fuck’s sake.” Kaito groans from beside them. Tenko wanted all the girls to go in one teacup, and since the teacups are two to three per cup, it worked out pretty well… for them.
As soon as they get out from under the hood of the teacup ride, rain starts pouring down.
“Shit,” Kaito mutters.
“Of course you degenerate males wouldn’t come prepared! Luckily, me and Himiko came prepared!” She reaches into the magician’s small backpack and pulls out some rain ponchos.
“Tada!” Himiko proclaims, “eight magic ponchos for all of us.” She hands them out to the group.
“Too bad Miu and Keebo aren’t here to use them.”
“Nee-heehee! Guess they’re getting soaked after all!”
 --
Eventually, after some more walking and shopping around, they find solace from the rain at the restaurant Kaito insisted they all go to for dinner. Shuichi remembers him mumbling something about the “full Tomorrowland experience” or whatever that means. It works out alright though, since Kaito gets his burger, and the rest of them get to sit down. It’s still pretty early for dinner, but they plan to make it back to the hotel to rest so they can be back and more awake for the fireworks.
They’ve all got a booth to themselves, which is good because that means no one besides the five of them has to witness Kaito inhaling his burger unless they look his way. It also means no one can hear Tenko when she scolds him for his lack of manners.
“Shuichi! Feed me a fry!”
Shuichi blushes but picks up a fry and lowers it towards Kokichi’s head as it rests in his lap. “Please don’t choke Kokichi.”
“I’m the supreme leader of an evil organization! You think eating while laying down could kill me? No way!” He insists, inching up towards the fried potato.
“If you’re sure…” Shuichi trails off as Kokichi eats the french fry.
He prattles on after chewing, “I’m the king and Shuichi is my servant! Nee-heehee-ouch!”
Kaito snorts, food in his mouth as he asks, “did you just bump your head on the table?”
Kokichi sits up from Shuichi’s lap, rubbing his forehead. “Of course not, I just bypassed an assassination attempt. Because of my invisible helmet, Harumaki’s blow to my head only gave me a teensy headache,” he lies, adding hand gestures to emphasize.
“That’s a lie,” Maki calls him out this time, wiping her mouth with a napkin. “If I were to attempt to take your life, you wouldn’t survive,” she assures him.
“Awwww, does that mean Harumaki doesn’t actually hate me after all?” Kokichi tilts his head, his voice teasing.
“Don’t push it.” Her expression is deadpan.
“Do you want me to feed you a fry, Himiko?” Tenko tilts her head, holding up the offered fry.
“Nyeh… I’m okay.” Himiko bites into her burger.
“Okay!” Tenko smiles. “So how was everyone else’s time while we were gone? Hopefully not getting into too much trouble.”
“Nee-heehee, what else can you expect from an evil leader like me?” His grin broadens. “Keebo screamed like a little kid on the rollercoaster! Too bad you missed it!” Kokichi teases.
“What time is it?” Kaito asks, looking towards Maki as she sips her water.
She reaches into her backpack and checks her phone. “It’s five-ten.”
“Hey fuckers,” Miu greets as she walks up to their table with her tray alongside a very wet and sulking Keebo.
“Miu! You’re shirt’s see-through!” Kaito yells reproachfully.
“Heeeeee!” Miu covers herself. “Well don’t look perv…” she mumbles as she sits down meekly.
“I didn’t know Keeboy was water-proof!” Kokichi changes the subject with faux surprise.
“Kokichi, we have been in the pool at the same time!”
 --
They get back into the park around eight-thirty, a little more awake than before.
“Shouldn’t we just go back to the hotel? It’s still raining…”
“Not before the fireworks Keeboy! I wanna see things explode!” Kokichi exclaims.
Keebo and Miu have rain ponchos on now too, not that it’s making much of a difference since they ran from the buses without them.
They all try to navigate through the crowd in front of the castle to find the best place to see the fireworks from as possible. It’s not very full, since it’s still raining, but a decent crowd has decided to stick around.
The rain turns to drizzles as the show begins.
Shuichi looks at Kokichi’s face light up in amazement while watching the firework show and feels warm inside.
 --
They go on a few other rides they weren’t able to get to earlier. (One of them is called Astro Orbiter and they ride it mainly for Kaito.)
They’re sort of just roaming around when Miu halts the group in their steps. “I gotta go on jungle cruise. I sorta told Gonta I’d get some pictures of the animals... C’mon Keebo.”
“Okay!” Keebo nods.
For some reason, this prompts Maki and Kaito to converse amongst themselves before approaching Shuichi. “We’re gonna head back. Y’know what they say: early to bed and early to rise.” Kaito pats Shuichi on the back and gives him a wink… for… some reason.
“Ah, okay.”
“Have fun, we’ll see you later…” Maki smiles as they head towards the exit, four remaining.
“Are you tired yet Kokichi?” Shuichi asks.
“Who needs sleep when you can stay up late and wake up early in the morning?”
“...”
“But, I was more tired earlier. Taking a nap with Shuichi made me much more awake! I’m ready to ride more rides!”
Shuichi smiles at that. He doesn’t want the leader to push himself too hard. He’s experienced Kokichi completely shutting down because of a lack of sleep. Shuichi has struggled with insomnia too, but Kokichi isn’t able to sleep in like he can. The other normally wakes up early regardless of when he goes to sleep.
“Let me know if you get tired Shumai! I wouldn’t want my beloved to lie just for my sake. I hate liars, you know.”
Shuichi nods, “I’m alright for now. I think we can stay a little bit longer.”
Himiko then speaks up, “Hey. We’re going to watch Mickey’s Magic Show. Do you wanna come with us?”
“Sounds like fun!” Kokichi grips his hand, racing ahead of the other two. Tenko seems to take that as a personal challenge, so she lifts Himiko for a piggy-back ride and chases them.
 --
Himiko pulls a blanket out of her backpack once they get into the waiting room for the show; none of them are sure why or when she brought it but the air-conditioned room is pretty cold and the air outside is beginning to cool down because of the season. At least it stopped raining.
“It’s a cape, because I’m a mage,” she says, but the fleecy crescent moons and clouds on it say differently.
 --
Shuichi and Kokichi had already decided they would ride Thunder Mountain next. Well, Kokichi decided, and Shuichi quickly agreed.
Tenko knows Himiko won’t want to ride anything that high up, so she suggests a less intense alternative. “We never got to ride Mine Train Himiko! Do you want to go before the park closes?” Tenko remembers that Himiko wanted to at least try riding Seven Dwarves’ Mine Train.
“Nyeh… but isn’t the wait still really long?”
“It might be, but we can check!”
“Okay. After Mine Train let’s leave right away. My feet hurt, and my MP is too low to cast a health recovery spell.”
Himiko and Tenko set out towards the ride.
And then there were two.
 --
The line for Thunder Mountain Railroad isn’t unreasonably long, but it’s definitely not quiet either.
Kokichi has his arms up the whole time, and even though Shuichi is gripping the safety bar for dear life during the sudden turns, his eyes are wide open, and there’s a rush of adrenaline going through him. It’s not an intense roller coaster by any means, but the wind on their faces and the loud crackle of the tracks makes it exciting. After, Kokichi pulls him by the hand towards Adventureland and Shuichi smiles the whole way there.

In the last few minutes before the park closes they make it back to Pirates of the Carribean again, for the last ride of the night. Now that it’s just the two of them, it feels somehow different from when they were in a group.
“Shuichi, we need to talk.” The boat has begun to move along its track in the water, the false night sky of the ride seeming so realistic overhead.
Shuichi’s eyes widen. “Ah, what would you like to talk about?”
“Do you like me?”
Eyebrows raise, “of-of course.”
Kokichi rolls his eyes, “C’mon Shuichi. I know you’re not that dense.” He pauses. “What I mean is, how do you feel about me, as more than a friend?”
“O-oh,” Shuichi stammers, feeling his face preheating like an oven.
Kokichi leans forward expectantly. “So?”
“Um… I like you, Kokichi.”
An involuntary smile appears on the leader’s face. “Good, me too.”
Shuichi smiles back.
“So let’s make it official.” Kokichi says, looking ahead instead of into Shuichi’s eyes as he laces their fingers together.
“I’d like that.” Shuichi smiles lovingly as he leans over to press his lips to Kokichi’s cheek.
Even though it’s a little dark in the ride, Shuichi can still see Kokichi’s blush. It’s really cute, he notices, but then Kokichi’s facing him again, and he sees a searching look in those purple eyes that’s even more cute. Shuichi nods, and Kokichi takes the opportunity to grab onto Shuichi’s shirt and pull him closer until their lips meet.
It’s nothing crazy, just a soft press of lips against one another with that yo-ho pirate song echoing in the background, but it makes the two of them feel really warm and giddy. The seriousness of the moment is stopped quickly, since Kokichi can’t help himself from grinning. It sort of stops the kiss, but he can’t help it; he’s suddenly so full of energy, and he just can’t stop smiling. Shuichi opens his eyes and seeing Kokichi makes him smile too. It’s like their cheeks are stuck like that, but neither of them really mind.
As they’re getting off of the ride, Shuichi speaks up, a million little thoughts going through his head, “maybe we shouldn’t say anything to the others yet.”
“Why not? Are you ashamed of me?” Crocodile tears well up in his eyes.
Shuichi shakes his head. “No, I just think that Tenko would be less willing to share a room with us if she knew we are together.”
“Nee-heehee, so devious Shuichi. I think I’m rubbing off on you.”
“Maybe…”

(They don’t make it back to the hotel until midnight because of the long bus wait. Himiko texted them to warn them, but by the time they get there the line is already long and they have to wait for two buses to depart before finally getting on the third one. But, as they sit down in the seats and Kokichi falls asleep leaning against Shuichi’s shoulder, he finds that he doesn’t mind too much.)
