I keep thinking to myself, "man what if I don't Actually need a service dog and I Am one if those people who just want to bring their dog in public)
And then I experience my Symptoms™, and remember how all this could be alleviated or even in some cases Completed avoided had I had a service dog trained to alert to these things ahshjdjs

I think there's something uniquely bleak about modern times. Like for all intents and purposes my life seems more luxurious, and is probably objectivly "safer" in a lot of ways than it would've been pretechnology or industrialization, but there is this sense of being trapped by it.
Modern life feels like constantly treading water and the only thing that actually changes is the size of the waves. Your work never actually amounts to anything, so all time feels wasted. You live knowing that your existance is unsustainable because you can't keep up the pace, but there's no other way but forward on the same road.
The advice for living through bad times is to focus on the positives in your life, but everything is built on this system with it infecting the underpinnings. Things are rendered fully obsolete overnight, including careers and hobbies you've put years into. Anything can be taken away. Nothing is stable. You need to constantly find New Things to fill the gaps.
You're not supposed to romanticize the past, I am older than some of my rights being enshrined in law. God knows I'm too sick for antiquated medical care. But there's part of me that wonders if the trade off is worth it, especially with those rights slowly being struck down.
I fucking hate this I hate that human beings who want to build and create and live life are forced to waste their lives fighting for meaningless timewaster jobs while the positions of artists and actors and musicians and painters are replaced by plagiarism machines and algorithms and nothing you work to pay for belongs to you I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it if a robot can do our jobs then why the FUCK aren't we living

Btw, if you really just Need A Job (tm)
I'd really recommend looking into care work
Care work here is specifically being a home care aid, a care aid or assistant at any kind of residential home.
This for usually for elderly or disabled adults - and those are the ones that tend to be most entry level, from what I've seen, but also for mental health, addiction recovery etc. (With the obvious caveat that some of these jobs will be more emotionally intense than others)
I'm so serious about this guys. I was applying to jobs in care work for just three weeks, starting a couple days before Christmas, and in that time I got three interviews, two jobs offers, and five additional interview requests
Care work needs people CONSTANTLY
because it's a huge sector but very hard for them to keep staff long-term. Partly because it can be high burn-out, and there's definitely toxic places out there you should watch out for. And partly because a lot of people think care work is beneath them
AND they ACTUALLY MEAN IT when they say they're entry level. Because it's so hard for them to get staff that a lot of them will advertise super aggressively that they will train you themselves. A lot of them will straight up pay for your CPR and First Aid certifications, once they hire you, too (and you can get a leg up on applications by getting a CPR/First Aid certification for like. $30 to $80, at least in the US). They also accept experience taking care of elderly/disabled/etc. family members as real experience
Like, obviously don't do it if you hate taking care of people, but if you're open to it, it's probably by far your best shot of getting hired rn, statistically
(eta: Genuinely disclaimer that it can be super taxing emotionally and large portions of the industry are indeed fucked, and def don't take a job in this field if you're gonna be an asshole to the people you're caring for, but sometimes you just need whatever job you can get.)
Seriously, though, the first time I applied for a care work job (in October 2023, yes short timeline, like I said there's some toxic workplaces etc. out there), I applied to like ten or fifteen jobs over the course of a week or so. Within three weeks, I was working.
(And they did provide all of the training, fwiw)
If you need a job and no one is hiring, seriously consider looking into it

hi, i was hoping to hold off on doing this but i need help.
my father died and i had to go 6 hours away from my current place to stay with my godfather so i can get the death certificate and estate filed to my name, since he has assets that need to be handled. i've been here 2 weeks, and finally with all of it filed, i can go home. however, the stay drained my funds and i have no funds, and can't work since i'm away dealing with the estate. the next steps have been mailed to my current address, but i need to go there to fill that out since they'll only do it through snail mail.
i need to get home, but we have no car (a friend drove me down, so i need to pay someone or get a train ticket, which is steep since i'd also have to stay overnight somewhere due to a layover), and i'm already technically homeless since me and my disabled mother are staying with my aunt couch surfing. now i have to deal with my dead dad's estate.
any help would be good. we're already 1k+ in the hole from having to have him cremated, and while we may get life insurance to help with that-- it might take months. i cannot be here for months, i have college in less than 2.
paypal is here

it's so crazy to me that they didn't just have a limited amount of medical supplies, but also just one nurse… what if something had happened to Anya? She almost did get hurt by that broken vent, what would they have done then? There was so much (way too much) responsibility placed on not just Curly, but also on her. You don't even have to wonder what they were supposed to do in the worst case scenario because that question is answered by the game. On the other hand, the ship had a Co-Pilot, yet it needed only one person to disable the autopilot with zero effort basically. Not a single thing was right with that ship, it's giving me a headache thinking about it.
No like the code scanner is so stupid because every thing is so streamlined it’s so easy to bypass safety measures. They really should’ve had two keys or at least require the Captain to have the key at all times. I mean you can argue about what if he loses it but I think it’s safer than leaving it unattended next to the code scanner like needed to unlock it.
All the responsibilities on the Tulpar are designed to be overbearing and barely manageable when I think about it, especially for the people they give it to. Swansea is an old crank impatient man; not only should he not being doing all that work alone on a physical level but clearly he is not the best teacher for an intern like Daisuke. Anya may be a very effective and knowledgeable nurse but she is the only one and without an outside certification. We have no clue if the others have any training so if she got injured/sock we don’t know if she’d even the capabilities to instruct the others especially if their own knowledge was low and someone else was in a worse condition.
Curly has to decide on everything and literally is in control of everything like he has to make their food and shit, unlock emergency resources and its implied he does most of the control in the cockpit between him and Jimmy. Jimmy clearly does know what he’s doing in the cockpit but he is definitely not mentally equipped to handle it alone. There’s such a lack of checks and balances on the ship and within the company it make me so much more angry and confused when I actually think about how much should’ve been fixed that P.E purposely ignored or made that way by design.
It’s like if there was an osha violation list for the Tulpar it’d be so long it might as well be the entire osha code.

College Major Headcanons:
[Extra content for The Homo Economicus in Love - noritoshi kamo x reader, cute college au]
Yuuji Itadori - Media Studies, on a full sports scholarship even though he's not too interested in sports. He doesn't show up to practice that much but carries the team in tournaments. Not really very academically inclined but everyone he meets loves him so much that he's gotten a shit ton of internships and work experience just cuz he's nice to work with. Stays on campus dorms.
Nobara Kugisaki - Fashion Merchandising (yay legally blonde). Another one who's not very academically inclined but does great at the practical aspects of the job. Gets 40% off on tuition, but has some funds from her grandma. also gets money from her fashion blog, part-time jobs at fashion mags, and manages clothing for photoshoots on a freelance basis (if she commits she commits). Saves on residence by renting with Inumaki and Panda.
Megumi Fushiguro - Computer Science with a minor in Math. Full scholarship and bursary grant by the college due to his shitty financial conditions (orphaned and destitute at a young age). Prof Gojo is his legal guardian. grew up in and stays on campus dorms.
Maki Zenin - Star Athlete, literally training for the Olympics. Her degree is in Mass Communications but she doesn't actually have to attend classes cuz the Uni wants her to focus on sports. Disowned by her family. Full sports scholarship and occasionally gets sponsored by sportswear companies. Trying to go pro.
Yuuta Okkotsu - Sociology and Anthropolgy. He enjoys talking to and meeting people and works as a part-time Journalist for local news channels to bring attention to issues like poverty. Gets a bursary grant from the uni, gets paid for and is decently recognized for his journalism work. Both Geto and Gojo want to mentor him. He talks to himself when he's alone but that's a secret.
Toge Inumaki - Architectural Design, chose this degree just for the hell of it, is a solid B+ student. Has a YouTube gaming and ASMR channel with 200k followers but is struggling to monetize it profitably. Got in on legacy admissions but gets a sports scholarship of 30% (he's pretty good at athletics)
Panda - ???
Noritoshi Kamo - Economics and Finance, specializing in Private Equity and Investment Banking. he's the heir of the Kamo Conglomerate. Full legacy admission even though he graduated valedictorian of high school and is the captain of the Archery team.
Todo Aoi - Quantum Physics. he's literally the top student of every class he takes. he keeps taking random other classes from different majors based on his whims. his genius was recognised and personally mentored by Yuki Tsukumo, but is now undergoing formal college education for the certificate even though he already knows all this and more. he spends half the day in the gym and the other half streaming Takada-chan variety clips.
Mai Zenin - Economics and Finance, her family made her take it. good at academics even though she's not super into it. legacy admission.
Momo Nishimiya - Literature and Creative Writing. She posts regularly for a gender and sexuality magazine. loves nobara's blog.
Miwa Kasumi - Computer Science with a minor in Software Engineering. She just wanted a degree that would lead to a well-paying job. Cabinet Member of the Student Council. She vouched a lot for Mechamaru/Kokichi to get disability-friendly accommodation. she struggles a bit with academics but pulls through with A- all around. Kokichi/Mechamaru helps her if she finds something particularly difficult to understand. has her own campus residence but has practically moved in with Kokichi.
Arata Nitta - Health and Medicine, focusing on Emergency Care Medicine. he TAs for Prof Shoko's classes. his sister works in college admin office. has campus residence but mostly stays in the college affilitated hospital, bit of an over-worker.
Mechamaru/ Kokichi Muta - double major in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. Another top student of his classes. Found it a bit difficult to adjust to campus life at first (not enough disability accommodation) but with Miwa's help he got around. campus dorm with Miwa.
Professors!
Gojo Satoru - graduated from top Ivy colleges, has 5 PhDs, and wrote 1000 papers and books, and is the one of the most respected physicist in the world but insists on teaching Intro-level Physics and Math. drives a Bugatti to college. highly competitive relative grading. prescribes his own books for his class. expect a problem set every day after class. gives a lot of individual attention to students tho, n is very nice in general. he'll accept a late submission if u bring him sweets. his lockscreen is prof geto?
Geto Suguru - teaches one class named Ethics, Philosophy and Law every semester. doesn't answer questions over email, only during Office Hours. great at explaining difficult concepts, his course is the one students fight to get into and say "opened their eyes". has a devoted cult of worshipping students, voted student favorite every year. his adopted daughters took a gap year to travel abroad and he talks about them in class. he always has sweets in his pockets?
Utahime Iori - teaches modules on Economics, Politics and Philosophy courses. great teacher, very clear explanations, bumps up the grading slightly (absolute grading) and is very accommodating as a prof. hates getting emails at night tho.
Shoko Ieiri - Shitty ass prof tbh but everyone takes her class cuz she gives everyone an A. teaches Surgical Anatomy. focuses on practical experience rather than theory. she has a no attendance policy and takes few very exams or assignments.
Yuki Tsukomo - Visiting Faculty, takes one super high level class Quantum Physical Theory one semester and comes back after 4 years. Independent researcher funded by the uni.

Service Pokemon Headcanons
Recent asks got me thinking about service pokemon so I thought it would be fun to write down some ideas about how I think the system works overall
Similar to real life, in order for a pokemon to be considered a service pokemon it has to be trained and certified by the region the trainer lives in. The pokemon has to wear some kind of identification, usually in the form of a vest, and the trainer needs to keep a copy of the certification on hand in case the pokemon causes trouble or disrupts those around it. However, these can and typically are digital and any Rotom phone, poketch, pokedex, etc is equipped to pull it up at the press of a button
Pokemon are classified into categories based on size: A, B, C, and D. A is any pokemon that can be safely tucked under the arm or carried in a purse / bag, B is any pokemon that can fit in the lap of an average adult, C is anything the size of or smaller than a human, and D is everything larger than that. These classifications are mostly relevant for indoor venues and accommodations: you're unlikely to have a problem with a Class A-C pokemon, but Class D pokemon are pretty unlikely to be able to fit in doors or shopping aisles and have some trouble outside of their balls. There's been a lot of controversy in the pokemon world about whether service pokemon the size of people should be charged as an extra passenger, especially since they need their own seat (the answer, btw, as a resounding "no")
Generally speaking, the types preferred for service pokemon are normal, fighting, fairy, psychic, and electric. Normal types are good all rounders, fighting types are excellent for mobility assistance, electric types shine for those with service devices, psychic types can predict accidents and have the intelligence and dexterity for complicated tasks, and fairy types are great at emotional support. Other types CAN be service pokemon, but for practicality reasons they're not as common. The inherent talents of the species is also relevant
You can get your own pokemon trained as a service pokemon, and those who become disabled later in life will often do this because of their existing bond with their partner. Thus, there are plenty of unorthodox service pokemon out there

We Saved Each Other (Part Eight)
Tumblr media
Summary: you undergo an assessment for a learning disability and your mom helps you come to terms with the result
Word Count: 1.8k
Pairings: (Mom!Natasha x Kid!Reader) (Clint x Kid!Reader)
Warnings/content: Autism assessment/diagnosis (written from my personal experiences and research)
————
Today, a S.H.I.E.L.D professional is making their final assessment in wether or not you have a learning disability. Melissa had been following you for a few days now, watching your behaviour and assessing your ‘personality’. You were still a little confused as to why she was with you, Natasha had tried to explain but your little brain just couldn’t quite understand. Melissa had told you that it was important you just remained yourself and acted however you usually would, but you were a trained spy, you’d been taught to lie and manipulate, your little brain definitely knew that much. You had your guard up when you first met her but Natasha stayed with you the whole time and soon enough you were somewhat comfortable with Melissa. So far, Melissa had assessed you while playing with your toys and outside, she’d observed your interaction with the team and the Barton children and yesterday she had a meeting with Natasha to discuss your circumstances, something your mom found incredibly difficult. Usually an assessor would use any available documents to aid their diagnosis however there wasn’t much documentation on you. All you had were adoption papers and a birth certificate provided by Fury.
Today you were due to have a test with Melissa, and you were not happy about it all. “Sweetie I promise it’s nothing scary, it’s just to help you like we talked about remember?” Natasha said as she cradled you in her arms. You had hardly slept last night and now you were overtired and overstimulated “don’t wanna” you fussed “baby I know but this is so important, it means that mommy can take care of you properly and help you when you’re feeling different things, things that other people don’t feel” Nat cooed. “No!” You whined “it’s all gonna be okay y/n I promise” Natasha said “I just wanna be normal mommy” you cried. “Oh my sweet girl just because your brain works differently doesn’t mean you’re not normal, truth be told baby there is no such thing as normal” Natasha cooed “but why does my brain work different mommy?” You asked through your tears. “Y/n sometimes there aren’t any answers” Nat said softly “things just happen in our life’s and we can’t always explain why. I know this is scary but it doesn’t have to be a bad thing, if you do have a learning disorder that doesn’t make you any less amazing, I promise” she said as she gently brushed her fingers through your hair. “So do you think you can be a brave girl and see Melissa for your test?” Your mom asked. You wiped away your fallen tears as you sat up to look at Natasha “yes mommy, I think so” you whimpered.
You met with Melissa at the agreed time, Natasha glued by your side. Your mom knew you would have to go in alone with Melissa but she wanted you to know that you were safe. “Shall we get started y/n?” Melissa asked, you shook your head and hurried your face into Natasha’s hip. “Come on sweetie you can do it” your mom said as she crouched down to be eye level with you “you remember what we talked about? I know you’re nervous but I promise it’s all gonna be ok” Natasha cooed, urging you to follow Melissa through the open door. “M’kay” you muffled as you sceptically stepped towards the room. “Why don’t we get a snack first y/n?” Melissa asked, trying to calm your nerves “I’ve got some fruit roll ups, you like those don’t you?” She said. “Yes please” you said, taking a seat at the small table. Natasha took a deep breath when the door was closed, she wanted nothing more than to hold your hand through this but she knew you had to be assessed without her in order to get a correct diagnosis. Your mom had agreed with Melissa that she would be able to monitor you over the security footage, given your past Melissa understood why Natasha was scared to let you out of her side. The redhead had informed the assessor of your upbringing and as a S.H.I.E.L.D member she was permitted to have limited knowledge of the red room.
Natasha had asked Pepper to cook your favourite meal while she watched the security cameras, wanting you to have a comfort meal after your stressful day. You seemed reserved in yourself in the meeting but answered all of Melissa’s as best you could. She was great at distracting you and keeping you entertained as to not overwhelm you. The hour went by smoothly as Natasha was waiting with open arms when you came out of the room “hey baby girl, oh I’m so proud of you” she said as she scooped you up onto her hip. “She did so well Natasha” Melissa smiled “I’ll go over all the information I’ve collected today and I should have a confirmed diagnosis for you in a few days” she said. “Thank you Melissa” Natasha said. You waved goodbye to the assessor and cuddled closely into your mom “my brave little spider” she cooed “do you wanna have some dinner, Pepper’s made your favourite” Nat said. “Waffle fries?” You quietly asked “waffle fries indeed baby” your mom said as she headed towards the kitchen.
~~~~~
Natasha waited patiently over the next few days, checking her phone every few minutes in hopes of the call. She hid her anxiety from you through the sleepless nights that you had failed to settle. You had been much more secluded since your test, only wanting to be with your mommy. It took a couple of days to bring our your bubbly personality again and even then Natasha knew that you weren’t quite yourself. You were currently playing with your cousins in the common room, the Barton’s had come for a visit after Lila demanded she needed to see you and her auntie Nat. You and your mom had been staying at S.H.I.E.L.D HQ while you waited for your assessment results.
“Natasha?” Maria called around the door, entering the room “Melissa’s here” she said. Nat felt the anxiety rise in her chest as she rose to her feet “Clint could you watch y/n for me?” She asked “of course” he said. “Sweetie I’ll be back in a few minutes okay” Natasha said to you “ok mommy” you replied unfazed and happily continuing your drawing. Your mom met Melissa in a private meeting room to discuss your assessment. “Uncle Clint” you said as you climbed into his lap “yes little bug?” he asked. “Is Melissa here to talk with mommy about me?” You innocently asked. “Well yes she is” Clint explained “but not in a bad way, she’s here to help you remember? Are you nervous?” Your uncle asked, you nodded shyly as you leaned into Clint. “That’s okay bug” Clint cooed holding you tightly.
You stayed cuddled with Clint until Natasha came back into the room “hey sweetie, do you wanna go and get some strawberry juice?” She asked as she scooped you up into her arms. “Yes please” you politely said. Nat carried you through the hallway towards the kitchen where she prepared your strawberry juice in your specific strawberry juice bottle. It was imperative that your drinks and snacks where placed in the corrected cups and bowls, otherwise you would never eat or drink it. “Thank you mama” you said before taking a sip of your juice “you’re welcome baby” Natasha said “listen y/n, mommy needs to talk to you about your assessment okay? Do you think we could go and sit and talk?” Your mom asked. “Did I do bad in the test mommy?” You frowned “no baby girl of course not it’s just Melissa came to give me the results today so I wanted to tell you about it” Natasha cooed as she gently brushed your hair away from your face. “M’kay” you mumbled behind your juice bottle.
“Alright detka” Natasha said as she sat down on the bed with you “so do you understand why Melissa came to see us?” She asked. “I think so” you said “well she came to see if you might have a learning disability, which means that sometimes things can feel different for you. You remember when we talked about it?” Nat said, you nodded intensely remembering the conversation with your mom. “So Melissa found out that you have something called autism” Natasha said, cutting to the chase “it’s a type of learning disorder that means people can struggle to communicate and learn the same way as other people” your mom explained as best she could to your small brain “you know how sometimes you get upset at loud noises and bright lights?” She asked, you nodded along “well that’s because you’re autistic” Nat said. “Is that bad mommy? Do I need to be fixed?” You sadly asked.
Natasha’s heart broke, years of your father and then Dreykov’s words had convinced your small brain that you were a problem that needed to fixed. “No baby it’s not a bad thing at all” your mom said as she softly ran her fingers along the bridge of your nose. “There is nothing wrong with you y/n, you don’t need to be fixed because you are perfect just as you are. Having autism doesn’t make you any less perfect but it does mean that somethings might be a little more difficult. But y/n I promise you it’ll be okay, we’ll figure out what you need and mommy will be here for you always” Natasha said. “What will help me mama?” You asked “well we can get you some special toys to keep you calm when you feel nervous or anxious and we can make you a little safe space at home with no noises and keep it nice and dark. Everyone who has autism will struggle with different things so we’ll have to find out along the way what you need” Nat explained.
You looked up at the redhead, admiring her bright green eyes “are you still gonna be my mommy? Even though I have autism” you mumbled sadly. “Oh baby of course!” Natasha beamed as she picked you up and placed you in her lap “I’m always gonna be your mommy, no matter what, I love you so much y/n” she cooed “I love you too mama” you smiled. Natasha tightened her grip around your small frame and you tucked your face into her neck. You were still a bit unsure about what was going on but you knew that no matter what Natasha was going to be there. The road ahead was a long one and there were so many unknown things approaching but now you had an entire family behind you. Clint, Laura, Maria, Lila, Cooper and of course your mommy. There was a time you had no one and nothing but now you had everything you had ever dreamed of. Autism or no autism, you were going to be okay.
great allergy post btw!!
I think its easy to say good allergies aren’t that bad because they’re avoidable and the symptoms aren’t really chronic in the same sense that typical disabilities are. But my god the social effects! Having to bring your own food everywhere and be mindful about traveling and plane rides constantly is really draining after a while, especially with very common allergens like gluten or meat or egg. Like it’s crazy to me that most people can just eat whatever (like random food trucks in particular because damn I wish) because I’ve never gotten to do that
also the comorbidities! asthma alone accounts for a long term impact of allergen exposure.
people do not care to understand the severity of anaphylaxis and I've even been in first aid trainings where all they did was pass the Epi-Pen trainer around. a certain popular public charter [R.E.D.A.C.T.E.D] doesn't even mandate allergy certification through the first aid/cpr provider they choose. (a majority of first aid/cpr courses I've taken are phenomenal with allergy training fwiw)
ANYWAYS here are the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and what to do if you or someone is experiencing them!
If you or someone you know is experiencing anaphylaxis, call emergency services immediately. Do not delay care. If you're unsure, call anyways. Symptoms can be rapid or within 2 hours of exposure.
Do not delay care after administering epinephrine (Epi-Pen, Adrenaclick, Auvi-Q, etc), it is only temporary, hospital care is necessary.
Do not assume that someone with an allergy has an epinephrine injector, especially in places where you have to pay for healthcare.
If someone goes unresponsive and is not breathing during an allergic reaction, start CPR (adult | child+infant) immediately.
Tumblr media
Image description: an infographic from the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Connection Team titled "SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF ANAPHYLAXIS"
Anaphylaxis (an-a-fi-LAK-sis) is a serious allergic reaction that comes on quickly and has the potential to become life-threatening. The most common anaphylactic reactions are to foods, venom, medications, and latex. Anaphylaxis signs and symptoms that may occur alone or in any combination after exposure to an allergen include:
MOUTH: itching, tingling, swelling of the lips/tongue/palate (roof of the mouth)
THROAT: hoarseness, tightening of throat, difficulty swallowing, hacking cough, stridor (a loud, high-pitched sound when breathing in)
LUNGS: shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, chest pain, tightness
GUT: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
CNS/BRAIN: anxiety, panic, sense of doom
EYES/NOSE: runny nose, stuffy nose, sneezing, watery red eyes, itchy eyes, swollen eyes SKIN: hives or other rash, redness/flushing, itching, swelling
CIRCULATION/HEART: chest pain, low blood pressure, weak pulse, shock, pale blue color, dizziness or fainting, lethargy (lack of energy)
Symptoms involving the throat, lungs, and circulation/heart are marked with asterisks, indicating immediate and potential life-threatening symptoms.
Consult with a board-certified allergist for an accurate diagnosis and management plan.
Although the majority of individuals experiencing anaphylaxis have skin symptoms, some of the most severe cases have no rash, hives, swelling
EPINEPHRINE is the first-line of treatment for anaphylaxis Antihistamines, inhalers, & other treatments should only be used as secondary treatment. Always carry two epinephrine auto-injectors at all times.
When you, or someone you know, begin to experience symptoms, CALL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY!
rules of my blog and about me
I am a 22 year old straight male
I was unfortunately born in Russia and was born with a disability called fetal alcohol spectrum disorder because my birth mother was drinking when pregnant with me which basically gives me the maturity of a 15 year old but i am normal on the outside.  I enjoy making music specifically dubstep. I am in college persuing my EMT-B and eventually my paramedic certification and dream of becoming a TEMS (tactical emergency medical services) member which are the guys that go in behind LEOs(law enforcement officers) during a mass shooting or other violent scenario and treat casualties by applying tourniquets to stop major bleeding dealing with airway emergencies and performing advanced procedures such as cricothyrodotomies which is a surgical airway and starting IVs.
I have been interested in medicine/medical related things since a small child after a traumatic experience with the anesthesia induction for a tonsillectomy in 2006 AKA being held down and induced with sevoflurane. My main focus has always been airway management and ventilation for some reason but I embrace all aspects of medicine. My parents got me my first resuscitation bag in 2014 as a reward for passing my first aid merit badge. In 2019 I started a small collection of mostly disposables and have built on that since. I bought my first patient monitor in 2022 which is a Philips intellivue MP5. I have been continuously scrutinized by my family for all of the equipment I own and buy with them saying it’s “freaky” “weird”  and then thinking I have an obsession with it. Then also saying “you don’t need any of that stuff nor have the training to use it”
In early 2023 I joined a med tech enthusiast discord server started by a small YouTuber who has a collection of defibrillators including a lifepak 12 which convinced me to buy my first defibrillator monitor which is a Philips heartstart MRx
I am also an outdoor emergency care technician (OEC-T)  for the national ski patrol and have saved numerous lives but have experienced death before which is a whole completely different story if you want to hear that story just let me know.
I’m also a Boy Scout and am an Eagle Scout.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-My blog is mostly about medical technology I do not have a med fetish but I have no judgement towards those that do.
-Despite me being a first responder None of what I post is medical advice don’t ask me for medical advice cuz I’ll just say that you need to talk to your doctor. Or if it’s an emergency to call 911.
-My profile is 18+ only, I don’t support minors being publicly involved in fetish or similar communities. Fetishes are an awesome thing to explore and people tend to find out about them in their teens. I think it’s perfectly okay for teens to learn about fetishes and to experiment, but do not interact with fetish or sexual communities until you turn 18.
[Oletus Manor Class] Let's learn!
How much do you know about blind trails and guide dogs that help the visually impaired people?
Please don't occupy the blind path, and please be more understanding of your guide dog companions~
Tumblr media
Narrator : "The straight path is divided into a walking path and a blind path, which can guide the visually impaired people to walk forward and identify the direction to reach the destination."
Narrator : "Please don't occupy the path. Once the path are occupied or damaged, it will bring great inconvenience to the visually impaired person and even become a trap for them to walk."
Narrator : "If we meet visually impaired people on the road, we can...:"
1. Never walk forward directly to the holding blind cane. Start by touching the visually impaired person's arm and ask if they need help.
2. Don’t push visually impaired people in front of you when walking.
3. If you encounter obstacles, just use clear language prompts.
Tumblr media
Narrator : "The screening of guide dogs is very strict, and the elimination rate is as high as 70%. The service period of qualified guide dogs is about 8-10 years, while the life span of a dog is only 10-15 years, and it spends almost its entire life serving people."
Narrator : "A trained guide dog can lead its owner to avoid obstacles. Find the destination and execute various commands such as sitting, laying, walking, etc. It can be called the speaker's "second pair of eyes"."
Narrator : "Visually disabled people and guide dogs holding formal relevant certificates can enter public places in accordance with the law, and guide dogs are working dogs that have been strictly screened and trained. They will never be aggressive towards people. This has never happened in history. There has never been a single incident of a guide dog injuring someone."
Narrator : "When encountering a guide dog on the road, we should try our best not to touch, call, feed or reject it, and proactively ask its owner if he or she needs help."
Please if you see ads on YouTube from supportpets.com, report them as scam and publicly boycott. Their service advertises "certification for Emotional Support Animals", "allowing you to take your pets almost anywhere!" But here's the facts.
-An ESA is legally classified to allow disabled people and those with low income to avoid being denied housing under "no pets" policies. They are NOT public access friendly, they are not required to be trained, there is no certification. You get a letter from your doctor and you give it to the prospective landlord.
-a SERVICE ANIMAL is one of two types (the other being therapy animals) of publicly allowed animals addressed under the Americans With Disabilities Act (the ADA), being a dog or horse (with specific exceptions being a case by case basis) that is trained to perform a task to aid a disabled person. Legal protections under the ADA allow for service animals to have public use without certification or documentation-- the person can only be asked if the dog is trained for a disability related task, and ask about the trained task, and that is it. As long as the dog behaves itself in public, this is ALL that is needed.
-Support Pets is twisting the definition of ESA, scamming pet owners into buying bunk certification to let their pets come around with them, and contributing to an ongoing and dangerous problem that is pet owners bringing their rowdy, untrained animals into public spaces. Disabled people have spoken countless times about how distractions and attacks from these "Public ESAs" have resulted in their dog failing to signal a health crisis, getting hurt or even being required to retire from duty due to behavioral issues or physical damages following.
Please share this, spread it everywhere you can. Boycott this company and report their ads on Google and YouTube for breaking their ad policies on scams.
Beachcomber startled as someone started to knock on the door, just to start pounding on it as he took his time reluctantly getting off the couch.
He opened the door to find whoever was there gone, a plastic box emitting a faint hum covered with a towel sitting on his door stoop. Beachcomber sighed and brought the box inside.
Swindle must have lied again, passing off a pregnant or disabled human as a special breed again.
Beachcomber wasn't shocked to find a human and its offspring in the box, the little mech, barely past the toddler stage, running up to an offered finger using his arms, his bowed, too small feet just barely skimming the ground, the toes on one twisted and fused. Beachcomber smiled, admiring how happy-go-lucky this one was. There was no harm in letting him run around. His mother was minding him well enough.
He hooked up a little extra oxygen and refilled their water, and added a vitamin additive to their food. He sent a comm to the vet specialist he often worked with, he himself having taken and aced a general veterinarian course on humans, but that was good for setting bones, delivering babies, and routine checkups, not prosthesis fittings or possibly amputations if the boy's feet didn't respond to treatment.
"Someone needs to start regulating beyond just euthanasia and vaccines. This is the fourth surrender I have had this decacycle." He muttered, carefully bringing the carrying case to his makeshift human room, setting it into the much bigger quarantine tank and opening the case door to let the humans explore on their own.
If they didn't get sick, Beachcomber had a few other rescues he knew wouldn't mind sharing a tank, given their own hutch and feeding spaces, of course. He always ended up correcting new owners about how dangerous it was to feed all their humans from one food or water source, along with stressing the importance of putting a hide around waste and bathing areas, and that they even needed them in the first place. Most of the mechs who Beachcomber saw were open to change anyway, willing to pay that small fee for a private health exam instead of just the required vaccination clinics. But, he still felt the need to publish resources, findings, and guidelines online, especially considering that most of the importers of humans are still shady and unregulated smugglers, and those that are well trusted pet traders are still working with lawmakers for the proper permits.
Reputable breeders haven't been very successful yet, as humans mate for life, or at least, are heavily monogamous. Most of the pregnant humans he had entrusted in his care were accidents, and their owners wanted them returned once they delivered their offspring.
But, their were a few mechs who panicked or couldn't afford a second human to feed.
Anyway, after he fed Cali, his latest pregnant boarder, he would film a segment for his human care series and wait for any walk-ins.
He walked upstairs and into his room and retrieved his first human, an older male named James. He had been offered James by a local landlord, as a previous tenant had left him behind, and upkeep was too expensive for her tastes.
James was sweet and enjoyed filming, showing off to the camera, and generally being easy to handle.
"We are filming a training segment today, James. Be good, and I will let you introduce yourself to the new arrivals."
James nodded, and Beachcomber smiled. He doubted he understood full sentences, but Beachcomber knew that he understood "arrival, " "filming," and "training," from repetition. He walked into the exam room, his two story apartment separated into a downstairs storefront and sitting room and upstairs living quarters. He set up the camera and turned it on, smiling and welcoming his viewers to his care series, showing the camera his degree and certifications and telling them the name of his clinic before moving on to the command he had taught James earlier that week.
"This one is good for vet visits and general care. James, come." James walked over to Beachcomber's hand, letting him ruffle his hair before taking a treat, tucking it into his pocket. "The benefits of this command are abundant, as it allows for easy removal in emergencies and at vet appointments. Practice while your human is alert and fed at least once that cycle to reduce stress. Reward for any small progress, as the goal for this command is for your human to be willing to leave food, toys, or social interaction for your hand. As a substitute, you can also combine this command with a tap on the side of your human's tank for easy administration of medicine. They tend to respond to a tap on the glass better, as they feel it when asleep and using the private bathing and sitting waste areas that should be standard in all human tank setups."
James pawed at Beachcomber's fingers, and Beachcomber chuckled and scratched his head again. "That's all for today, folks. I've taken in a few rescues, so uploads may be sparce in the coming weeks. Feel free to leave questions in the comment section and subscribe for more instructional videos and tips, and remember to properly vaccinate your humans! I will keep you updated on more low and free human clinics that pop up on my radar."
Beachcomber turned off the camera and brought James downstairs to hang out with Jane, a human with vitiligo that was left on a subscriber's doorstep. She had some expensive dietary needs, so the subscriber brought her to him instead of the rescues that had started to pop up.
The specialist had gotten back to him, willing to see the two humans he had brought in on short notice.
Beachcomber put on some gloves and carefully moved the two humans back into the carrying case. He checked on the rest of his rescues, then closed the clinic for the afternoon and brought him to his specialist, Caremark. She was a no-nonsense femme, and she didn't mess around with chasing the two humans around, connecting a canister of laughing gas to the case and waiting for the two to get sleepy. She confirmed their sex before moving the mech to her scanner to examine his feet, showing Beachcomber that his bad foot had badly fused toes and foot bones, the nerves and muscles pinched and twisted. She casted and splinted the mech's feet for now, wanting to try a nonsurgical route before committing to amputation or surgery to correct the bones. She sent him on his way with some pain medication, the mech's mother being perfectly healthy.
He walked back to his apartment and reopened the clinic for walk-ins as he kept an eye on the groggy humans.
No one but his one scheduled appointment showed up, so after closing, he brought his one adoptable human, Haley, to the nearby Rescue Bots Academy to get a little bit of socialization with the professors' families of humans. She was lukewarm with their redheaded male, and Heatwave hoped having a mate would make him mellow out a bit.
They already had two family units, a single father and his offspring that Boulder had successfully gotten to accept an older female and, surprisingly, managed to have a single offspring with, and the massive, five human family unit of a male, his three adult offspring, and an adolescent, all living in relative peace. This was the group that Heatwave was trying to split up, as they had a truly massive tank, and the academy directors were getting annoyed with how often recruits would hang out in Heatwave's office and classroom after class to watch them and ask questions.
But, all attempts to get the adults interested in settling into new groups failed, as even though they were happy with being on their own with one of the professors, they were just not a fan of sharing a space with any other humans but their whole group. But, the director's word was law, even if Beachcomber thought the whole thing was stupid.
As predicted, the redhead pissed Haley off, and Beachcomber had to remove her. This time, they caught it on video, so maybe this time, Heatwave could convince his boss to leave well enough alone.
I have a ton of retail experience but have become too disabled to continue working in that industry
Spent 3 years training in pastry arts and management only to run into the same problem with my body being just too broken to make it in that kind of work (I tried. I tried so hard)
My fallback was to return to reception/administrative work. I even took additional courses so I qualify to work in medical settings. I have been job searching for almost two years, with over 6 months being post-certification. Haven't even gotten an interview. Not one.
My last skills are writing (even took courses in specifically food writing) but everyone is firing/paring down writing staff rn because they can do it cheaper with AI, and that only leaves drawing. Which I'm only sort of ok at, and my tablet has a big crack in it so I'd have to invest in a new one to try to make any money on digital art again.
I don't know where I'm going with this. I just feel so hopeless right now. I've put so much into building all these skills and either I'm too physically broken to use them or they're not skills anyone places any value on.
Just beyond frustrated and disheartened
