Canon EOS 250D | 50mm | 1/320s | f/5 | ISO 100 Taken on 25/08/2021. A common type of building method in the 16th century, half-timbering has become decorative and non-structural in designs for today's homes. Until the 17th century, England was blessed with an abundant supply of oak, which was the most common material used for timber framing. Oak is a hard and durable wood, which in part explains why so many medieval half-timbered buildings have survived. Their blackened oak beams showing the fissures and cracks of great age, and the floors tilting crazily askew, half-timbered houses are a part of the charm of medieval and Tudor England for visitors. 𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: Take a train from Cambridge, London King's Cross station or Stevenage with 'Great Northern' or 'Thameslink' and alight at Welwyn North station. ______________________________________ #Digswell #Welwyn #Cottage #Architecture_Hunter #ArchitectureLovers #Britain #England #GreatBritain #Herts #Hertfordshire #BestPlacesToGo #HiddenGem #Travel #Travelling #TravelSolo #DocumentingBritain #ExploreBritain #VisitBritain #InstaBritain #PhotoOfTheDay #Photography #BeautifulPlaces #LoveTravelling #CountryHouse #YourBritain #Britain_Outdoors #BeautifulBritain #England_Insta #AwesomeTravel #Travelgrammer (at Digswell) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTZio3VIoBU/?utm_medium=tumblr
