the world is in peril and the demigods of the ark need your help ! there are dangerous forces rising and chaos is unfolding through the world ; the imperial regalia of the shinto pantheon has been stolen, the flayed god xipe totec wants nature to reclaim its dominance to punish mankind for its sins, the tyrant caligula has been resurrected, and that's not even half of it. we have many pantheons available but we'd definitely love to see more of the anito, inca and maya !!! and here are some fc suggestions for those pantheons while we're at it ! for the anito: evan mock, clayton cardenas, charles michael davis, bob morley, brandon perea, timothy granaderos, and jordan buhat. for the incan: henry zaga, chay suede, marco pigossi, carlotto cota, rafael silva, and jd pardo. and for the mayans: aaron dominguez, danny ramirez, tommy martinez, taylor zakhar-perez, froy gutierrez, oscar isaac, diego tinoco, and manny montana !

The Quad
(Introducing all my main Ocs in one go)
Tumblr media
In Order of Oldest to Youngest: Maria Dolores Ramirez (She/Her), Diego Marcos Ramirez (He/Him), Nikolai Emilio Ramirez (He/They), and Bianca Valeria Ramirez (Any/All - Mainly She/her due to the timeline)
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Maria D. Ramirez
The entirety of the Quad is twenty-two but Maria is the eldest.
She works as popular fashion designer and seamstress.
She adores making clothing and is usually the one who makes the clothes her siblings wear (because she is not letting her family look ugly.)
Maria is married with a wife and has like four kids.
She doesn’t spend a lot of time around the newsies but the Brooklynites play dress up in her stuff.
Diego M. Ramirez
Diego is the second eldest, one of the middle children.
He works as a boxer, and he learned a lot from the people he grew up around.
He’s dyslexic. Boy CANNOT read omfg. God help this man.
He’s so homosexual btw, he’s got like 3 boyfriends and eventually 3 daughters too.
He’s a big family man and loves their family so much.
Nikolai E. Ramirez
Smart doctor man!!!
Third child, and also technically the twins with the youngest because there was a time gap between him and Diego.
He was an apprentice under a military doctor and also went to college in Brooklyn for it.
BRO DOES NOT LIKE NEWSIES. He is friend with ONE newsie and is like done with the rest of them.
He’s also a gardener! He has a greenhouse on the roof he shares with his younger twin.
Bianca V. Ramirez
Entomologist!
She’s the youngest but acts the most motherly somehow.
She loves the newsies, loves them all, will/would adopt them all.
The Brooklyn newsies call her Mama B later on and she almost cried.
She shares the rooftop greenhouse with Niko and keeps all her bugs up there.
Bianca is THE ONLY ONE WHO’S IN A OC X CANON SHIP AND I DON’T KNOW WHY. I DON’T EVEN WANT IT ANYMORE, SHE’S MY WIFE NOT YORK’S. Anyways, she’s dating York, eventually marries him, and they have like four kids too. (Fuming about this. FUMING.
Anyways, notes: I plan on drawing more canon newsies stuff and posting old art because THIS IS OLD ART. I AM IMPROVING TOO FAST TO POST JESUS. So, more newsies art, I might start “designing” all the canon newsies just for funsies. I’ll probably start with the Brooklyn newsies because The Quad lives in Brooklyn.
When I mean “designing” I pretty much mean steal my friends designs and mashing it with canon designs and putting my style’s spin on it.

‘La Máquina’ Review: Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna Bring Their Signature Chemistry to Hulu’s Twisty and Melodramatic Boxing Thriller!
Its fast pace, unexpected twists, and the reunion of stars Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, whose chemistry lights up the screen, make this six-part limited series engaging.
Tumblr media
Bernal plays Esteban “La Máquina” Osuna, a Mexican boxing legend nearing the end of his career after a quick first-round knockout. Now feeling the effects of over 70 professional fights and recovering from addiction, Esteban hopes to rebuild his life following his divorce from journalist Irasema (Eiza González).
Meanwhile, his friend and manager Andy (Luna), who is obsessed with Botox and staying youthful, pushes Esteban to return to the ring for a rematch. This fight could either propel Esteban to new fame or involve him in a conspiracy that threatens his life and those close to him.
As things heat up, Irasema starts investigating a case linked to powerful figures in Mexico’s boxing world. At the same time, Esteban’s neurological damage from years of fighting makes it difficult for him to separate reality from hallucination, while dark memories from his past resurface.
While La Máquina doesn’t follow the style or structure of a telenovela, iconic actress Lucía Méndez delivers an over-the-top performance as Andy’s controlling mother. Under the direction of creator Marco Ramirez (Daredevil), the series defies traditional genre categories.
It mixes buddy comedy with a grounded drama about corruption and exploitation in Mexican boxing. There are also elements of romance, though Esteban’s new love interest, played by Dariam Coco, feels underused. The show includes tense, violent moments as well.
Gabriel Ripstein (Narcos), the director, manages the show’s tone effectively, though the premiere episode, which tries to fit in a lot of action within 52 minutes, is the least successful.
The episode includes two major boxing matches (one shown in detail and the other abruptly cut) along with training montages, while also introducing the main characters and ongoing storylines. It’s fast-paced but feels rushed.
After the first episode, however, La Máquina does something rare for streaming shows — it broadens its world as the story develops, with episodes becoming shorter, more focused, and more confident. Characters that start off as exaggerated become more heartfelt.
Decisions lead to immediate consequences, and the mysteries deepen. Some elements might feel overly complicated, and it’s hard to see how the larger storylines will wrap up in the finale.
Bernal and Luna’s performances are key in holding the series together, especially Luna as Andy, a character that could have come off as silly, given his obsession with youth and his layers of makeup and prosthetics.
Yet Luna embraces Andy’s absurdities while still capturing the tragic aspects of a man trying to be a good manager, friend, and potential father, but failing.
Bernal, fresh from his physical role in Cassandro, isn’t as convincing in the boxing scenes here, but his character’s sadness and fading strength are clear in his expressions and body language.
Together, Bernal and Luna elevate the series with their undeniable chemistry, bringing out the best in the cast around them, particularly González, whose role as a fierce, determined journalist adds depth to her character beyond the typical ex-wife role.
Supporting performances also stand out, with Andrés Delgado playing Andy’s quirky brother-in-law, and Karina Gidi bringing both humor and emotion as Andy’s wife. Jorge Perugorría also surprises as Esteban’s trainer, subverting expectations.
Though I wish La Máquina had more than six episodes to explore its story fully, I enjoyed watching its narrative unfold. The series juggles multiple themes — boxers’ brain trauma, Mexico’s class struggles, and subplots involving romance and journalism — and while some of these might not be fully developed, the show is still compelling. I would gladly watch more of this unpredictable, chemistry-driven drama.

La Máquina premieres today
La Máquina, the new TV series from Marco Ramirez and Gabriel Ripstein, is out today.
After a devastating loss, Esteban “La Máquina” Osuna (Gael García Bernal) is at a low point in his boxing career. Lucky for him, his manager and best friend Andy Lujan (Diego Luna) is determined to get him back on top. But when a nefarious organization rears its head, the stakes of this rematch become life or death. While struggling to mount a comeback, Esteban must also juggle his own personal demons and protect his family, including his ex-wife Irasema (Eiza González), a journalist who finds herself on a collision course with the dark side of the boxing world.

“The WBA is honored to return to our home, the Caribe Royale Resort,” said WBA President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza. “We are confident that our 2023 convention will be even better than last year’s. The KO Drugs fight card features multiple WBA regional title bouts.
Headlining this exciting evening of boxing is an intriguing ten-round contest for the WBA Fedelatin lightweight title between Idalberto Umara and Fradimil Macayo.
Fighting out of Miami, FL by way of Cuba, Umara’s 11-1 with 8 KO’s. On July 28th, Umara scored a vicious one-punch knockout over former Olympian William Encarnacion in the second round. The knockout, which came via uppercut, is among boxing’s best in 2023.
Representing his native Venezuela, Macayo’s outstanding professional record is 16-1 with 13 KO’s. In his most recent bout, Macayo defeated previously unbeaten Armando Ramirez Almanza via unanimous decision. He also holds amateur victories over 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist Robson Conceicao and 2012 Olympian Wellington Romero.
Blue-chip prospect Kevin Hayler Brown challenges Marcos “El Tigre” Jimenez for the WBA Continental Americas junior welterweight championship. Originally from Cuba, Brown lives and trains out of Las Vegas, Nevada, under Trainer Ismael Salas. On May 26, Brown, 3-0 (2 KO’s), won a hard-fought ten round unanimous decision over Julian Smith.

Estela, 13-0 (4 KO’s), scored a first-round stoppage of Luis Caraballo Ramos in September. The 23-year-old has a large following in Central Florida and has improved each time out. At 11-2 with all his wins coming by knockout, Elizalde’s won eight straight fights.
In a battle of unbeatens, 2020 Dominican Olympian Euri Cedeno, 6-0-1 (6 KOs) challenges Cuba’s Yoanki “Diamante” Urrutia, 13-0 (5 KOs). This highly-touted middleweight contest is scheduled for eight rounds.

In an eight-round super bantamweight bout, Mexico’s Israel Rodriguez Picazo, 20-5 (19 KO’s), challenges Wilner Soto, 23-13 (12 KO’s) of Colombia.
Junior welterweight Aaron Aponte, 7-1-1 (6 KOs) of Hialeah, FL, squares off with Mexico native Roberto Almazan Monreal, 11-21 (4 KOs) in a six-rounder.
Undefeated Orlando native Jean Guerra Vargas puts his 6-0 record on the line when he takes on Colorado Springs, CO’s Pedro Hernandez, 7-15-1 (2 KO’s) in a four-round contest.
International standouts Abass Baraou, 13-1 (9 KO’s) of Berlin, Germany, and Nigeria’s Opeyemi Adeyemi, 9-0-1 (7 KO's), face opponents to be named.
“The entire team at Caribe Royale is proud to once again serve as the host for the WBA Convention,” said Amaury Piedra. “It’s great to have all the international visitors and boxing legends returning to Orlando. Fred Van Vleck Superintendent | EHS Students Receive Seal of Biliteracy Awards
Shared by Fred Van Vleck Superintendent of Eureka City Schools. Eureka High School Students Earn 43 California State Seals of Biliteracy in 7 World Languages Honored Among 113 Students by the Humboldt County Office of Education May 19, 2023 – Eureka, CA – The Humboldt County Office of Education held its 11th Annual Seal of Biliteracy Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Sequoia Conference Center in Eureka. This year HCOE celebrated 113 students that earned the California Department of Education’s Seal of Biliteracy in one or more of 11 languages representing nine different high schools in Humboldt County. Eureka City Schools is proud to announce that Eureka High School made quite the statement this year with its students earning 43 Seals of Biliteracy in seven World Languages. These remarkable students were honored with an official certificate and a medal for achieving Biliteracy. Four students (below in bold) achieved multiliteracy and received their Seal in three languages including English. The students were accompanied by their families and dedicated staff from the EHS World Languages Department and EHS Counselors.  Every school year Eureka High School offers its students the opportunity to be assessed to receive their California Seal of Biliteracy. The State Seal of Biliteracy (SSB), marked by a gold seal on the diploma or transcript, recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing one or more languages in addition to English. Eureka High School Counselor Sarah Cruz says, “The process allows for students to have their language skills verified to colleges and future employers. Many of these students have taken four years of a world language at Eureka High or speak their own heritage language in addition to English.” Eureka High currently offers Spanish, German and Yurok. This year EHS students received Seals of Biliteracy in Spanish, German, Hmong, Vietnamese, Czech, Gujarati and Chinese Mandarin. Join us in congratulating them!
