Kinktober Day 3
Day Two | 🌹Kinktober Masterlist🌹 | Day Four
Pairing: Diego Jimenez x Reader
Rating: Explicit - 18+ Only. Any minors interacting with ANY of these Kinktober prompts will be blocked.
Warnings: Reader is the monster; vampirism; mention of drug use; mention of alcohol consumption; blood drinking (because vampires); vaginal sex
You’ve got the itch. It’s not that you’re hungry to feed, it’s that you’re looking to turn. You’re lonely—and you’re young. You’ve only been a vampire for half a century. There aren’t many of your kind that you know. Your maker disappeared just as soon as you’d wet your fangs and gotten your bloodlust under control. You’ve been rudderless ever since—drifting and desolate in New York’s thriving night scene.
The only thrills that you feel these days come from the odd chase—when someone that you’re feeding on wants to make a game of it and runs. That happens when they don't truly understand what you are, the powers that you possess: your speed, your senses, your strength. But besides that, well...Not much brings you joy. Months pass like minutes. You’ve only been a vampire for fifty-eight years.
It was much more fun in the 80s—busier, more colorful, almost. Everyone was just as hungry as you were, in quite different ways.
The next time you have the need to feed, you find yourself seeking out familiar territory. You’re not starving, mind, you just want a little nibble. You find your way to a club, one that you’ve used a feeding ground before. It’s always full of drunks and coke-heads, and busy enough that you won’t have trouble finding anyone to nip from. You like finding someone coked-out to drink from, sometimes. You’ll get their consent, have them snort, and then drink from them once it hits. It gives you a buzz, too. Unless you drink too much, you don’t get a hangover like you used to when you were human.
Oh, hangovers aren’t as bad now that you’re a vampire; you can sleep them off for a week, burrow yourself in your coffin in your apartment (you’ve rigged it up so that it lowers from the wall like a Murphy bed).
You swan into the club and look around, gathering your bearings. It’s surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night. You take in a deep breath, catching the muddling scents of alcohol and sweat and colognes and perfume; heartbeats pound along with the thudding of the bass. You take a few more steps inside. You’ll get a drink, first. It has no effect on you, but you still like the taste. You lean against the bar and raise your finger to the glass, swirling your finger around the glass’ rim.
There are a few prospects that you’ve spotted already, a few people that you’ve drunk from before. They’ve eyed you; one has grinned, and is looking quite interested. You enjoyed yourself last time—the blood was good, the sex was fine. But...It would be fleeting.
And at the tip of your gums, you still have that itch.
Your ears twitch as you hear someone coming up behind you. You smell something sharp, an expensive cologne, and you feel someone watching you. And in an instant—or perhaps it’s several minutes, but you never can accurately mark how time passes anymore—someone’s hand rests on your hip.
“I’ve seen you around,” A man purrs in your ear. You consider for a moment as you glance at the two of you in the mirrored backing of the bar. You recognize him. You know that he’s the one of the owners.
“Congratulations,” You offer him in turn.
He curls his hand around your hip and turns you to face him.
You’ve only seen him from afar before. Now, in this close proximity, you see that he’s quite handsome. The glint in his eye is enticing; his grin looks as predatory as you feel. When he cages you against the bar, something riles up in you, something mean and sharp. Well, you never did like being boxed in this way. So you open your mouth in a toothy grin, and flash him your fangs.
The man’s eyes drop to your teeth, and his eyes widen marginally before he meets your eyes again. You can hear his heartbeat kicking up, and you don’t know if it’s excitement or fear—until his lips widen in a bigger smile, and he says, “Oh—I’ve heard about you.”
--
By the time you realize that it's a bad idea, it's too late.
You know it the second you sink your teeth into his neck, as he bites into your wrist—
You don’t know how you let him talk you into this, but this man—this Diego Jimenez—is too much of a silvertongue for his own good. And as he drinks from you and you drink from him—as he groans and laps at your vein and writhes against you as your mouths stain red—Some little bit of you knows for certain that turning this man is a mistake.
--
Despite this swirling worry, the next morning is sort of fun.
It’s amusing, watching this man learn to be—or at least, to watch him learn to be again. He runs to your mirror, drops his fangs, pokes at them, and then frowns, turning to you and pointing at his reflection.
“Why can I see myself?”
You smile.
“Old mirrors were backed with silver, which we can’t touch. New ones are backed with aluminum, so. They’re harmless.”
The man pouts a little before he shrugs, nods, and turns back to the mirror, poking at his fangs again. He’s stark-naked, hasn’t bothered to dress. You’d learned quickly the night before that Diego is...Very confident in himself. You’d assumed that that confidence was misplaced until the two of you had gotten into bed, but he had been one of the best lovers that you’d ever had (of course, you don’t want to limit yourself. You’ve got eternity stretched in front of you—as long as you play your cards right).
You see him look down at his chest and abdomen.
“What is it?” You ask.
“My scars are gone.”
You push yourself off of your bed. You can wander around the apartment freely; you’ve already pulled the blackout curtain to keep out the sun. You curl up behind Diego, peering over his shoulder in the mirror and allowing your eyes and hands to wander his chest.
“It’s like you’re brand new,” You murmur. His eyes shift to yours in the mirror, his smile flashing wide, revealing his fangs. You grin in turn, cupping his pecs and giving them a squeeze as he rolls his hips back against you.
“You’re such a little show-off,” You laugh. “Are you going to get worse with time?”
He turns, grasping your hips and holding you tightly. “Maybe you should’ve considered that before you made me this.”
“Maybe I should’ve,” You mumble, almost regretful. Before you can sink into the upset, Diego nuzzles into your neck, giving your neck a harsh nip. You suck in at the sharp pressure, then at the sweeping heat as he laps across the pinpricks of blood.
“You have no way to back out now,” He rumbles against your skin, his hands wandering your body.
“No,” You agree. “You’re as I am now—damned.”
“Preciosa,” He turns his head, lips brushing against yours. “I was damned long before I met you.”
You don’t have the chance to argue as his tongue delves between yours. You hardly mind the metallic tang as you take your fill of one another. You don't have the chance to get your bearings as he shoves you back. You stumble to the floor without a mind for the pain. Any bruising will be gone in minutes, if not hours. He’s over you without seconds, briefly stunned at the speed with which he moved. It makes you grin as it seems to puff him up, making him seem larger as he bows over you and captures your lips with his.
Your groan is punched out of you as he grips your thigh, drawing it up around his hip as he thrusts into you harshly. You let your head fall back, nails raking through his hair as he sinks his teeth into your neck again, drawing from you as he did just hours before. You’ve never had a lover feed off of you this way before, and it makes your whole body tingle. Between his speed and the way he draws your life from your weakening form, your head begins to spin. You can’t remember the last time you felt like this. It’s been a long time—not since you were human.
Diego’s pace is frantic, his tongue and teeth making a mess of your neck. When he draws back to get a look at you, his mouth is a mess of red, his eyes obscured with black. You grasp his slick cheeks, grinning as you feel yourself tipping closer and closer to the edge. You cum sharply, whining as you feel Diego’s hips pound against yours. You let yourself sag back onto the floor, sighing heavily as he melts on top of you. You loop your arms around his neck, sliding a hand up into his hair and drawing in a deep, satisfied breath. Your chests rise and fall together, and you comb your fingers tenderly over the strands at the nape of his neck, letting your eyes slide closed.
It’s been a long time since you’ve thought about death, but you feel that if you died like this, sweating and sated and boneless, you could die happily. You giggle almost girlishly as Diego tips his head up to nip at your jaw. He draws away at the sound, face twisted with a pout at the sound.
“What?” He demands. You shake your head, raising your hand to swipe from of your blood from his kiss-plumped lips.
“Nothing,” You reassure, but you know that it’s more than that.
That itch is gone—for now, at least.

hi, everyone!
i thought i'd take a quick second to introduce myself and to also formally open up requests. i'm already working on a few things, but requests really do always help and feel free to submit them at any point--but, we'll get to all of that in a moment!
my name is lavinia, and i am a uni student studying both theatre (dramaturgy specifically) and creative writing! i love to sing, act, write (obviously haha), read (i am a huge fan of classic literature, as well as donna tartt, mona awad, sally rooney, elif bautman, and ottessa moshfegh's works), go to concerts, go to the movies, style/design clothing, paint, collect records/cds, and so much more! this barely scratches the surface really but, if any of you share these interests, always feel free to reach out!

I will update this frequently, as I am always either getting into new things or remembering things I already love. I am mostly dedicated to OFMD right now, but you may also leave requests for other fandoms and I will keep them on file, or who knows, perhaps even get to them sooner than you may imagine! Have a wonderful day (or night!), and don't forget to request!

Diego Jimenez x Lauren Wolffe (OFC)
Word Count; 1,750
Part 2: Burgers & Bail
In which Detective Lauren Wolffe and her partner, Marcus Morenci, are paid a visit by one of the best criminal defense lawyer's in New York.
Warnings: Language, brief mentions of domestic violence/child abuse/murder.
Author's note: This chapter is brought to you by my finally taking an actual vacation.
Any gifs used in any posts for this story do not belong to me.
Lauren is two cups of coffee and a quarter of the way through a massive stack of case files when a white paper bag is plopped down in front of her. Slightly startled, she glances up from the paragraph she's read at least twice already to see Marcus looking down at her with what he probably thinks is a charming smile.
"What's this, a peace offering," Lauren questions as she leans back in her chair, crossing her arms. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't still irritated about earlier, especially after the way the rest of their previous conversation had gone.
"When you say you're talking from experience, I take it you mean your daughter? What's her name? Ella?"
"Ellie," Lauren corrected.
"Right. She's what, eight or nine?"
Lauren stayed silent, focusing on her driving as she switched lanes.
"That's her on your phone lockscreen, right? And in the picture on your desk?"
Again, Lauren doesn't reply. She has no intention of encouraging his attempts at small talk.
"She's a cute kid. Looks just like you, except her eyes. I take it she took after her dad, there. Speaking of which, where is-"
Lauren had stomped on the brakes, probably a little more forcefully than necessary, as someone had cut them off. Marcus had jolted forward with a curse, nearly smacking into the dashboard.
"What the fuck, 'Ren?"
Lauren gritted her teeth at the shortening of her name. She'd always hated it when people called her that.
"Sorry," she muttered halfheartedly.
"You'd think with as many people that live here, at least some of them would know how to drive."
Lauren had calmly agreed, and the subject had effectively changed after that, much to her relief. Marcus meant well, but Lauren had already been fighting back all her constant fears and worries about her daughter after the events of this morning, and wasn't about to go digging all of those up at the behest of someone who just couldn't leave well enough alone, even if he was her partner.
In fact, she was doing her best to not think about those things. Or the case.
That was why she'd stayed buried nose deep in work since they'd returned to the precinct, her only consolation being that the person responsible for the boy's -Antonio Reyes- murder was in a holding cell downstairs.
Out of sight, mostly out of mind.
"No," Marcus huffs. "It's lunch. You know, actual food that's not a bag of chips and a stale candy bar from the vending machine downstairs?"
"Careful, Marcus," Lauren chides lightheartedly with a small smile as she tears into the bag. "Keep talking like that and someone might think you actually like me."
"I do actually like you," Marcus quips sharply, only for a sheepish look to cross his face the moment he realizes he was a bit too eager to reply. Lauren arches a brow, but Marcus is sputtering on before she can even think of a response.
"I mean, I do most of the time. Still think you've got a stick up your ass."
"Right," Lauren chuckles, choosing to overlook his response as she tears into the bag in front of her. It's from her favorite restaurant a couple of blocks away and she's actually pretty damn hungry (chips and candy only go so far) so she pays little mind to what Marcus had gotten her as she pulls out the food.
"Double bacon cheeseburger with everything but the pickles and onions and cheesy tater tots, right?"
Lauren's hands freeze in the middle of pulling a box out of the bag, a chill crawling down her spine. As much as she loved the old burger joint, Lauren rarely spared the money to eat there, preferring the cheapest option available for lunch (which, more often than not, usually meant eating nothing) in order to pinch a few extra pennies for her daughter's sake. She and Marcus had gotten burgers once, maybe twice, since they had started working together…
So how did he have her order down perfectly?
"Uhm, yeah," Lauren answers, unease thick in her voice as she locks eyes with Marcus, jarring her into moving again. "Thank you."
The smile she gives is more of a grimace than anything, and obviously forced as Lauren pops open the box of tater tots, but Marcus simply smiles at her, looking pleased with himself.
And somehow, that's even more unsettling.
When he steps away from her desk to go back to his own, she lets out a breath. She gets about half of the burger down, unable to keep from side-eying Marcus as she eats. The food is delicious -as always- but her appetite was nonexistent, her stomach roiling.
How the fuck did he know my order?
She tries to put the thought out of her mind. Really, she does, but it's a futile effort as the thought echoes through her mind again and again. Maybe he'd asked one of the other detectives -maybe Cartright, or Howell- but then she doubted that they paid enough attention to know. Cartwright was nice enough, but Howell didn't care for her, and the feeling was mutual.
"Is the food good," Marcus asks, meeting her gaze as Lauren glances at him over the top of her computer monitor. He'd opted for the exact same burger, she noticed, but had swapped out the tater tots for the Cajun steak fries.
"It's great," she replies absentmindedly, shutting the nearly full box of cheesy tater tots. "I appreciate it."
"You're welcome," is his emphatic answer, a brilliant smile flashing across his features. Lauren was sure that smile was enough to woo just about any woman at the bar, but it reminded her more of something more predatory, something that looked welcoming on the surface, but would rip you to shreds if you got too close.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it," he continues as Lauren tries to discreetly drop what remains of her food in the trash. He pays her absolutely no mind, eyes focused on his computer screen in front of him.
She doubts he's looking at anything work related.
"We'll have to eat out more often. There's a new Italian place a few street over-"
Marcus' words abruptly, uncharacteristically go silent, which commands her attention far more than whatever he'd been saying. Lauren looks up, having returned to her work, and the moment she does, her heart takes a nose dive into her stomach. Standing just inside the main door of the precincts bullpen, looking regal as ever in a tan, three piece suit that she has no doubt costs more than her rent two times over, is Brian Nguyen, one of the most renowned defense attorney's in New York. Next to him stands Lieutenant Albrecht, who is so red in the face it looks like he might stroke out.
Brian cuts a glance at Lauren, giving her a subtle, knowing smirk as he speaks.
"Detective Wolffe." His dark eyes pierce right through her. It's not a look of triumph, it's a warning, a reminder. "It's been quite a while."
No, it hasn't, Lauren's mind supplies in answer. The thought is slightly bitter, and overly guilty.
She was all too familiar with Brian Nguyen, or rather, the kind of clientele he represented; drug dealers, mob guys, enforcers, all the other kinds of guys who probably deserved to be under the prisons rather than in them.
If he was here, it was an omen for a bad day.
"Indeed it has," Lauren replies coolly. "To what do we owe the pleasure?"
"He's here for Carlos Muñoz," Lieutenant Albrecht responds, his face bitter. Lauren grits her teeth, apprehensiveness settling poorly in her stomach.
She probably shouldn't have eaten that burger.
"Just to talk, I'm assuming? He started asking for you the moment we cuffed him."
"I'm afraid not, Detective Morenci."
Sure you are, Lauren says to herself, rage boiling in her veins. She knows all too well what Brian Nguyen is here for, if he's not here to talk to his client.
"He's made bail?" Marcus questions, and Lauren wants to sock him for not reading the giant pink elephant in the room. She settles for scratching her pen deep into a stack of blue sticky notes on her desk. Ellie had picked them out; blue was her favorite color.
"Yes," Albrecht grits out, and Lauren knows he’s feeling the same frustration as her. "They're already working through the release process."
Lauren shakes her head, glancing at the picture of Ellie on her desk. It was an older photo from a birthday two years prior; Ellie is grinning, all dimples and missing baby teeth, holding up a new stuffed animal frog that Lauren had gotten her, brown eyes bright and her hair in lopsided, blonde pigtails. It was a picture similar to one that Lauren had seen in the Reyes home of the little boy -Antonio- that Muñoz had murdered.
Antonio Reyes would never smile like that again, and the bastard responsible for it was going to walk free.
Just like far too many others.
This was another aspect of the job that Lauren hated, one that she would never get used to. And it was something happening more and more often.
Lauren sits at her desk, seething, and watches as Nguyen signs the necessary paperwork for the bail. The moment he bids them all goodbye, at least having the small sliver or decency to not look smug as he does so, Lauren feels the straw break the camel's back.
"This is such bullshit," she spits, haphazardly shuffling case files back into their folders. She pauses when she spots an extra copy of the photo of the lifeless, beaten body of the boy.
"I can't say I'm surprised," Marcus remarks, ignoring the glare Lauren flashes his way as he kicks back in his chair, hands behind his head. "But how does a guy like that make bail that high?"
"He doesn't," Lauren hisses, throwing on her jacket. Tucking the crime scene photo into the inner pocket, she grabs her keys and marches towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Lieutenant Albrecht questions, a hint of worry showing through his otherwise neutral expression.
"For a walk," Lauren answers, softer than she would if anyone else were to ask. They would probably be having a conversation soon about how she was doing.
Her lieutenant simply nods, knowing better than to try and stop her.
If he knew where she was headed, he would.

Princess (for @1zashreena1) - Diego Jimenez x Reader - Starz Power Fanfic
I wrote this fic for @1zashreena1, my spirit guide in all things Maurice Compte. Happy months-early birthday, dear! Hope this *very* explicit fic isn’t too weird between friends!?
Warning: Pure Smut.
“How much did he just charge us?!?”
You stare at your friend, agog at the figure the bartender just charged her for two drinks. You are definitely a long way from home, that’s for sure.
“Relax,” she waves you off and hands you your glass, “It’s your birthday!”
“But you realize we could buy like...four pitchers at Margarita’s for the price of these two tiny drinks, right?” Yeah, the whole idea had been to come into the city and pretend to be rich and glamorous for one night--but you know Lisa’s job doesn’t pay her much and you don’t want to bankrupt her for your birthday...at least not this early in the evening. “Well, I’m getting the next round!”
She nods and turns back to the dance floor, eyes glittering like a predatory cat as she watches the dancers sway, gyrate and generally commit public indecencies. You smirk and let your eyes roam as well. You might be letting your natural sass make you a little contrary, but you have to admit you love this. The music--so loud you can feel it pulsing in your bones, the contagious energy of the crowd...you don’t even care that you stick out like a sore thumb among all these supermodel thin girls and--frankly--out of this world hot guys. You have no clue how Lisa managed to get you into the most elite club in New York for your birthday but...you’re going to make the most of it.
“Should we show these skinny bitches how to dance?”
Here’s the thing: when it comes to confidence? You outshine everyone else on this dance floor. This is your night! You take Lisa’s hand and lead her out into the throng and the two of you move with the music like you were born with silver spoons and not a care in the world other than having a good time. Monday you’ll go back to work, back to daydreams and deadlines, but tonight is yours and you’re not going to waste it.
You’re working up a sweat, rolling your hips with the music and not giving a damn if you look silly, just losing yourself in the dance.
“Hey!” Lisa leans close and has to yell into your ear to be heard, “There’s a Latino sex god checking you out right now!”
You roll your eyes at her and scoff, “What are you talking about, Lisa?”
“Look! Casually!” she nods her chin over your shoulder and you do a little not-so-casual spin to glance behind you. Okay, yes, there is a staggeringly beautiful man a few feet away who’s currently being worshiped by three female dance partners. Your mouth actually drops open in shock as you look at him and you have to consciously close it while your eyes rake over his body. He is a well-built man. Tall, broad, muscles straining against his black button-down shirt and suit jacket. He’s digging his fingers into one of the girl’s hips and his hands are absolutely huge. You slowly raise your gaze to take in his stubbled jaw, full, smirking lips, wide cheekbones and bottomless, brown eyes. Brown eyes that--yup--are staring right back at you.
You spin back around and collide into Lisa’s arms.
“Okay!” you yell. “He’s definitely looking over here.”
This guy has three supermodels hanging off of him and he’s staring at you like he wants to eat you up.
“Okay, okay, girl,” Lisa launches into her life coach voice and you groan. “This is your night, remember? You need to go fucking get down on that dick.”
“Jesus!” you laugh and shake your head at her, but you’re already glancing back over your shoulder. He’s still staring and now his lips are curled up in a grin. He raises a hand and crooks his finger at you. Oh, he thinks you’re at his beck and call, huh? You turn back to Lisa and dip down low, jutting out your ass and throwing your wild curls over your shoulder as you slowly, slowly roll upright.
“He’s gonna have to earn it!” you yell and Lisa is shaking her head in disbelief.
“You’re something else!” she exclaims.
You throw yourself back into the dance in earnest, but this time it’s different. This time you’re putting on a show. You dip, roll, gyrate and sway, all the while locking eyes with the dark haired stranger across the dance floor. He tries beckoning you over again and you shake your head with a smug grin, crooking your finger back at him. You’re setting the rules tonight. He actually breaks into a full smile at your boldness and you nearly swoon over the dimples in his cheeks.
He finally breaks away from his gaggle of admirers and makes his way toward you. You play it cool, like you couldn’t care less if he wants to dance with you, but inside you’ve got some serious butterflies. The butterflies only ramp up when you notice the two stern, bodyguard-types who break away from the wall and seem to track his movements as he walks over to you. Shit. Who is this guy?
He strolls up to you, inserting himself into your dance space and planting his greedy hands on your hips. His fingers dig into your flesh and the touch sets you on fire. He’s a good head taller than you and he has to lean down to rumble into your ear, “Bonita! You’re gonna make me work for it, aren’t you?”
You smirk up at him and tilt your chin past his shoulder, indicating the dejected groupies still lingering behind him, “I don’t like to share!”
He laughs, letting his hands wander to your backside, squeezing your ass as he grinds his hips against yours.
“You think you can handle me all by yourself?” he asks with a cocky head tilt.
You reach up your hands and thread them through his hair, dragging your manicured nails over his scalp, his neck, his chest, lower still.
“I’m a big girl,” you quip. “I’ll manage. What’s your name?”
“Diego,” he answers and his dark eyes are fixed on the contour of your bust in the tight dress you’re wearing. It takes him a minute to formulate his next words, “What’s your name, bonita?”
You grab him by the lapels of his suit jacket, pulling his face down to yours and whispering your name in his ear. When you draw back he takes the opportunity to grab your face, locking his lips on yours and capturing you in a searing, intense kiss. His hands reach down to cup your butt and lift you onto your tiptoes as he deepens the kiss. The rest of the club falls away and it’s just you and Diego. You let your hands wander over his body, running down his chest, teasing the waistband of his tailored pants and trailing back to make your way up to his strong, muscled shoulders. But you stop short when your hand brushes against the cold metal handgun sticking out of the back of his pants under the jacket.
Your breath catches and you pull away from the kiss. You feel a warning creep down your spine as you lock eyes with him and he grins, amused at your sudden qualms.
He leans his forehead against yours and growls against your lips, “You don’t know who I am, little girl?”
Your eyes shift to the two body guards lurking nearby and then back to Diego. You shake your head slowly and answer, “Somebody dangerous, I bet.”
Diego’s eyes glint with unhinged humor. He nods his head, running his hands firmly up and down your sides, cupping your breasts through the fabric of your dress. He’s bold. And used to taking what he wants.
“Si, bonita. I’m dangerous. You still think you can handle me?”
What the fuck. It’s your birthday.
You drag your own firm hands over his body, lingering over his abdomen and then plunging downward to hold him through his pants.
“Diego,” you hiss, giving him the faintest squeeze, “do you think you can handle me?”
***
You feel a little guilty ditching Lisa but in the end she’s the one urging you to seize the night.
“I’ll be fine, girl! My friend just texted me she’s at another club--we’re gonna meet up. Go get that dick! Happy birthday!” she practically shouts the last part and you slap her arm.
You glance over your shoulder where Diego is looking less than patient waiting with his entourage.
“Okay, but listen. Here’s the address I’ll be. If you don’t hear from me tomorrow--”
“I’ll bust in the place myself, I got you!”
****
Diego leaves the guards behind as you enter the elevator. If you hadn’t already been clued in by his style, clothes, bodyguards and vehicle--well, the outlandishly high class penthouse he lives in really solidifies how out of your element you are. Diego isn’t just wealthy. He’s wealthy and powerful... and used to getting what he wants when he wants it. You’re feeling a little overwhelmed in your knock-off dress, comparing what he has to your own modest apartment back in Pennsylvania...and feeling just the tiniest bit inferior. But you hold your head up as you stride across the marble floor, entering the penthouse like visiting royalty. Something tells you Diego’s attracted to your confidence and you’ll be damned if you’ll let him intimidate you.
“Nice place,” you comment dryly, affecting disinterest while your eyes widen at the view from the floor to ceiling windows.
“Thanks,” he remarks casually before practically jumping you. His hands are everywhere he’s kissing every inch of your face like he can’t get enough. You let out a breathy moan as he inches his fingers under the short hem of your skirt and brushes your inner thighs. His beard rasps against your cheek as he growls, “I’m going to fuck you on every surface.”
He works his fingers between your thighs, rubbing you through your panties with firm, punishing strokes as he grinds his erection against your stomach. For a moment you want to surrender entirely and let this man do whatever the fuck he wants with you. You think about the cool metal of his gun and wonder what it would feel like ground against your clit. This man is doing things to your brain.
But you come to your senses and place a calming hand on his wrist, cursing yourself mentally but instinctively knowing that you need to assert yourself here.
“That sounds like fun,” you say in a firm voice, removing his hand from between your thighs and straightening your dress. “But when I sleep with a man for the first time I expect to be treated like a princess. That means you’ll be taking me to your bed.”
Diego growls in frustration, wrapping his arms around you and molding you against his body. But you can see the look of respect in his eyes even as filthy words fall from his mouth, “Of course, Princess. But after I’ve fucked you to your satisfaction you’re gonna get on your knees for me and beg me to put my cock in your mouth.”
Rather than answer him you simply cup his cheeks in your hands and drag another kiss from his lips. The burn of his stubble on your face is delicious as your tongues clash. Diego pulls away first, his eyes are almost black with lust and his lips are swollen from kissing. This cocky, dangerous, powerful man is coming completely undone for you.
He takes your hand in his and leads you up the stairs to his bedroom. It’s a huge room with minimal decor, which is what you expected based on the rest of the penthouse. His bed is gigantic and covered in a silky black coverlet that probably costs as much as your whole bedroom set. You run your hand over the soft fabric and perch on the edge of the mattress, legs crossed daintily. Diego stalks toward you like a predator. You can see the calculations running behind his gaze. He’s not used to women like you. Assertive, strong, no nonsense. For once he’s the one feeling as if he needs to make an impression.
He drops to his knees before you and wraps his hands around your high-heeled foot.
“Well, Cinderella,” he smirks up at you, slowly removing the shoe and letting it drop to the floor. He wraps his hands around your little foot and drags his fingers up your calf. “Are you ready for your prince?”
Your breath is coming hot and heavy as his hands inch further up your legs. You try for a smug smirk but when he delves his fingers between your thighs again you let out an undignified moan.
“N-never saw a Prince Charming like you before, Diego,” you pant, falling back on your elbows as his long fingers creep under the fabric of your panties and slip between your folds.
“No, Princess,” he smirks, dipping one finger inside you without warning. “I think I’m more like the villain.”
He’s on his knees for you but his touch is a reminder of the man he is. He is not gentle. He pumps his fingers into you with brutal force, delighting in the little squeaks and mewls that fall from your lips whenever he slams your pussy especially hard. And his words. His voice. You’ve never been more turned on.
“You like that, Princess? Huh? You like when I fuck you with my fingers? Oh, bonita, you are tight, girl. You don’t know what's coming for you, huh? Are you gonna take my cock like a good girl, huh?”
You’re writhing on the edge of the bed, desperately trying to grind your clit against the heel of his palm and making needy, pitiful noises that are entirely embarrassing, but you don’t give a fuck.
You try to wrest back control, sitting up suddenly and grabbing the hem of your dress, pulling it off in one motion and (thank god) not getting stuck with it half-way up your body.
You look down at Diego kneeling at your feet, still fully dressed and his expression rabid with desire. You smile and stroke your fingers through his hair. You let your hand cup the back of his head and pull him forward until his face is hovering over your pussy and you can feel his hot breath ghosting against you.
“I want to take your cock, Diego. But first show me how much you want me.”
He flashes a crooked grin up at you before dipping down between your legs and drawing his wicked tongue through your folds. You let out a hoarse whimper but Diego is relentless. He presses his flattened tongue to your clit, licking and circling the sensitive bundle while dragging the rough stubble on his chin over your sensitive skin. You fist your fingers in his short hair and cry out for him no to stop. Keep going. Keep going. But just as your thighs are starting to clamp down around his head with the force of your coming orgasm, Diego rips himself away and stands up to stalk around the side of the bed. You scramble back towards the headboard, eyes fixed on him as he removes his shirt, revealing his sculpted chest and shoulder muscles.
He comes up to the side of the bed, looming over you with a wild look in his eyes.
“I’m in control now, baby,” he hisses, unbuckling his belt and letting his pants and underwear fall to the floor.
Your eyes fall to the massive erection jutting between his legs and you actually whimper in anticipation.
He stands there staring at you, waiting. When you don’t get it he reaches out and smacks the side of your thigh with his open palm, “Who’s in control now, baby girl?”
You know you’re out of your depth now and everything about this man screams danger, but you find yourself nodding and panting with need, “You’re in control, Diego!”
He turns to his nightstand, grabbing a condom from the drawer and deftly slipping it over his cock. He climbs up on the bed, crawling between your open legs and rubbing himself through your folds. He catches your eyes and leans down to press a surprisingly soft kiss to your lips as he plunges inside you. He wasn’t boasting before. You’ve never had anyone this big, he stretches you to your limit. When he finally seats himself fully you cry out at the pleasant, burning pain of being so thoroughly filled.
He brings his hands up to your face and runs his fingers through your hair. You look up at him and see the muscles in his jaw clenching and his eyelids fluttering as he holds himself back.
“You good, Princess?” he asks with a grunt that sends twinges straight to your core. Watching this man lose his self possession for you, because of you...it’s something you could see yourself becoming addicted to very quickly.
You nod up at him, “I’m good, Diego. I’m good.”
You are. You want to experience this man unleashed and unhinged. You want to know what he means when he says he’ll fuck you to your satisfaction. You don’t have to wait long. At your words he lets out a moan and starts brutally pounding into you. He buries his face in the crook of your neck and lays sloppy kisses along your tender skin as his cock grinds into you over and over again. His hands are everywhere--but mostly your tits and ass, let’s be honest.
He rears back his head and looks down at you with those dark, unreadable eyes and he orders, “Come, Princess. Come like a good girl for Diego.”
You want to hold out just to spite him, but he’s already edged you so close with his lips and tongue that his words are all it takes to crash you into your orgasm. You tremble and clench around his rigid cock as you ride the waves of your pleasure. All the while Diego is grunting and slamming into you with abandon, taking what he wants. When his orgasm follows shortly after he goes rigid for a second, clenching his fingers on your hips to hold you still as he presses into you with bruising force.
“Ahh,” he cries, falling forward and nearly smothering you with his solid body. His skin is slick with sweat and he’s sticky against you. You can feel his cock softening inside you, sending fluttering sensations through your core. He pulls out rather abruptly and you give a little cry of protest. You watch him remove the condom and drop it over the side of the bed before he crawls back over to you and collapses at your side.
“You did well, Princess,” he praises you, cupping his massive hand around the side of your head and threading his fingers through your curls.
“So did you, Mr. Villain,” you laugh, still a little out of breath.
He pulls back and lays flat on his back, breathing heavily, “Now. I think there was something mentioned about you on your knees?”

off the rack #1186
Monday, October 23, 2017
The back door lock on my X-Trail wasn't working so I had to drop it off this morning at Japan Auto to see if they can fix it. Then it was off to Costco to stock up an a few necessities. It's so nice and warm here in Ottawa that I will be able to read Charles de Lint's new book The Wind in His Heart outside.
Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan #1 - Declan Shalvey (writer) Mike Henderson (art) Lee Loughridge (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). This 5-issue mini has the two stabby heroes with healing factors teaming up to keep a new mutant from being captured by bad guys. Sure, it's a story that's already been told many times but Declan does a good job of keeping the fun factor up so I will keep reading.
Batman: The Drowned #1 - Dan Abnett (writer) Philip Tan & Tyler Kirkman (art) Dean White & Arif Prianto (colours) Tom Napolitano (letters). There's a gender swap in this Dark Nights Metal tie-in where a woman named Bryce Wayne transforms herself into an evil version of Aquaman's wife Mera. That was unexpected. I like how this issue clarifies why the bad Batpersons are doing what they're doing. It's a basic motivation and not anything new so there's still a chance that I might stop caring about this story and stop reading.
Kid Lobotomy #1 - Peter Milligan (writer) Tess Fowler (art) Lee Loughridge (colours) Aditya Bidikar (letters). If I had looked at the credits before picking this book off the racks to read I should have expected the extreme weirdness in this comic book written by Peter Milligan. I remember his stint on Shade the Changing Man and what a psychedelic ride that was. This book is loopy too and it was the art that helped me power through to the last page. If you enjoy exploring odd mindscapes you'll like this.
Thor #700 - Jason Aaron (writer) Walt Simonson & Matthew Wilson, Russell Dauterman & Matthew Wilson, Daniel Acuna, James Harren & Dave Stewart, Becky Cloonan & Dave Stewart, Das Pastoras, Chris Burnham & Ive Svorcina, Andrew MacLean & Dave Stewart, Jill Thompson, Mike del Mundo, and Olivier Coipel & Dave Stewart (art) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). This 50-page epic features Part 1 of "The Death of Thor", but which Thor? There's a lot of them. If you've never read a Thor comic book this is a great place to start. You can tell that Jason Aaron is having so much fun writing these adventures and I am one very appreciative fan. Buy this book.
Aquaman #29 - Dan Abnett (writer) Stjepan Sejic (art & colours) Steve Wands (letters). Okay, things are starting to go the good guys' way. Evil King Rath is going to get what fer.
Maestros #1 - Steve Skroce (writer & art) Dave Stewart (colours) Fonografiks (letters). Yay, Steve Skroce is back on the racks and this time he's writing his own book. I loved "We Stand On Guard" and was hoping we'd see Steve's art again soon. This fantasy book is about a young wizard who inherits the title of big kahuna wizard after his Dad is killed. I thought that Geof Darrow did the art for this after turning the first page, but nope, it's Steve just painstakingly drawing up a storm. This new comic book gets added to my "must read" list.
Champions #13 - Mark Waid (writer) Humberto Ramos (pencils) Victor Olazaba (inks) Edgar Delgado (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). Part 2 of "Worlds Collide" has the Champions teaming up with the Avengers to stop the High Evolutionary from destroying the planet. Four groups scatter around the world to save lives but even though they keep the world's tallest buildings from disaster there's still plenty of danger ahead. The story continues in Avengers #673 which hits the racks on November 1.
Batman #33 - Tom King (writer) Joelle Jones (art) Jordie Bellaire (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). You gotta read this. Do you guys have a good chuckle when you get to the last page of a really good comic book because you feel happily amused and think, man I can't wait to read the rest of this story? I do. Few writers can make me do that and Tom King just got added to the list of writers that do. Some fans might not like what's going on with Batman's love life but I think it's great. Part 1 of "Rules of Engagement" has the Bat visiting an old flame and boy, is he going to get burned. Joelle "Lady Killer" Jones did a wonderful job showing the men folk back at the mansion and made my heart swoon with her rendition of Selina. I wish the word balloon person hadn't screwed up on the last page, otherwise this issue was a perfect read.
Sherlock Frankenstein and the Legion of Evil #1 - Jeff Lemire (writer) David Rubin (art, colours & letters). This spin-ff of Black Hammer is worth checking out if you like that mystery about a team of old super heroes. This story focuses on their super villain enemies and follows Black Hammer's daughter as she goes searching for her father. Jeff Lemire is every bit as clever as Alan Moore at creating neat super characters when Alan was doing America's Best Comics.
Ms. Marvel #23 - G. Willow Wilson (writer) Diego Olortegui (art) Ian Herring (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). Remember the time when Kamala went to Karachi and had a team up with a hero there? Guess who's in Jersey City and attending her high school now? I'm glad Willow did the conversion to metric on the runaway train's speed. I didn't have a sense of what 25 miles per hour feels like. 40 kilometres per hour I get. This was a great way to have the two heroes commiserate while the train rolls along.
Wonder Woman #32 - James Robinson (writer) Sergio Davila (pencils) Scott Hanna & Mark Morales (inks) Romulo Fajardo Jr. (colours) Saida Temofonte (letters). I found the writing in this issue was as stilted as a bad soap opera script. I don't like how the relationship between Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor is portrayed. I hate that he calls her "angel". I will read the next issue to find out more about Diana's "brother" Jason and to see Emanuela Lupacchino drawing her first issue of this series.
Groo: Play of the Gods #4 - Sergio Aragones & Mark Evanier (writers) Sergio Aragones (art) John Ercek & Tom Luth (colours) Stan Sakai (letters). And so another great Groo mini ends. This time the last laugh was on the gods.
Superman #33 - Peter J. Tomasi & Patrick Gleason (writer) Doug Mahnke (pencils) Jaime Mendoza (inks) Wil Quintana (colours) Rob Leigh (letters). "Imperius Lex" starts here. With baby Darkseid missing, Apokalips needs a new ruler and it has chosen Lex Luthor. But Lex is a good guy now, right? Maybe he'll find a way to change the Parademons into minions. I like that Lois and Jon are in this story too.
Incredible Hulk #709 - Greg Pak (writer) Greg Land (pencils) Jay Leisten (inks) Frank D'Armata (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). "Return To Planet Hulk" starts here. Not to worry, they haven't resurrected Bruce Banner (yet). This time it's Amadeus "The Totally Awesome Hulk" Cho crash landing on the planet. There's no holding back when the kid unleashes the junk in the trunk as he battles a tribe of bad guys. All hail the Green Scar. This is a refreshing change of pace.
Super Sons #9 - Peter J. Tomasi (writer) Jorge Jimenez & Carmine Di Giandomenico (art) Alejandro Sanchez & Ivan Plascencia (colours) Rob Leigh (letters). "Planet of the Capes" ends here. I much preferred the art of Jorge Jimenez over that of Carmine Di Giandomenico. Carmine's kids don't look like kids.
Wonder Woman Conan #2 - Gail Simone (writer) Aaron Lopresti (pencils) Matt Ryan (inks) Wendy Broome (colours) Saida Temofonte (letters). There's a #MeToo moment in this issue that I found was unnecessary that made me feel disappointed because this is written by a woman. The crew threatening Diana that way wasn't needed for Conan to be any more protective than he already was. I wondered if it was put in just to titillate male readers or to point out that most men are scum. I did like how the crow girls dealt with the wine besotted pervert in the stands though.
Invincible Iron Man #593 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Stefano Caselli & Alex Maleev (art) Marte Gracia & Alex Maleev (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). "The Search for Tony Stark" starts here. Get everything you need to know to start reading this series. It's the rebirth of one of Marvel's iconic super heroes so join us long time shellhead fans and buckle up for a wild ride.

On November 27 and 28, the Arrow verse will host a small Earth-X tour, and the timing could not be worse for Iris West and Barry Allen. As revealed this Friday, the evil Earth-X interrupt the happy couple just in time for their wedding. To commemorate the occasion, The CW unveiled a personalized comic cover by artist Jim Jimenez that evokes the DC crossovers of the past (especially George Washington's Justice League No. 207, 1982) and raises more questions and answers about the event.
Entitled "The Crisis on Earth-X," this year's Crossroads finds "all the heroes of the city to celebrate the wedding of Barry and Iris" when "the wicked of Earth-X break the festivities with a deadly plan. These evil Earth-Xs are the evil enemies of the hero of the Arrow hero, who in the story of the comic strip DC come from a parallel world in which Germany won the Second World War. Beyond that, however, the cover contains a plethora of other tracks that reveal surprising facts about crossing and raise issues that will surely be answered only when the event takes place in November.

First, let's look at the inclusion of The Ray, which appears in the upper left corner above Supergirl and as a floating head in the lower right corner. The appearance of Ray is remarkable here, not only for the fact that it will be his debut live, but because it suggests that he will make the jump of the animated series of CW Seed. Last year, The CW announced that it would score in its own animated series called Freedom Fighters: The Ray, becoming the first gay superhero to make its first show. At that time, The Ray was only announced for the animated version, in a series that takes place in a parallel world called Earth-X. If it sounds far enough away, it's because that's the case, which makes its inclusion even more shocking. However, since he will bring doppelgangers X-land with him, it makes sense that he was involved. The Ray will be played by Russell Tovey, who also lends his voice to the character of the animated series.
The flash symbol on Earth-X
Speaking of Doppelgängers, we need to refer to the Flash version of Earth-X. Remarkably, the Earth-X Flash wears a yellow and black suit, just like the reverse symbol flash. However, it is the logo on his chest that provides a clue about the state of Earth-X. The symbol has two red rays, one behind the other, on a black background that forms a symbol like that of the "SS". See how, in the comic book, Earth-X is a world where Germany won the Second World War, it probably represents exactly what you suppose: the "Schutzstaffel", the German term for "Echelon de protection", the name of Adolf Hitler's bodyguards. While the official description of "Crisis on Earth-X" does not specifically specify the evil Earth-X as a Nazi, this logo suggests that's what they will be.
The Mysterious Archer
The cartoon cover represents four of the evil Earth-X, but one of them is not like the others. While Supergirl, Flash and Green Arrow have different doppelgängers, the poster shows a fourth villain who does not seem to have a direct analogue. This fourth villain dresses as a classic archer and looks more like Malcolm Merlyn 's Dark Archer than a wicked Green Arrow. As this mysterious archer has a mask, there is really no way to know who is wearing the hood. Although John Barrowman - who played Merlyn for five seasons on Arrow - said he finished with the series after his character's death at the end of season 5, it is possible that since then, and return for a small participation. This could also be another version of Prometheus, the main antagonist of Arrow last season, wearing a similar outfit. Alternatively, it could be a new character in the group, although it seems unlikely; eventually, there will be a familiar face under this mask, whether or not we expect.
Killer Frost
After his departure at the end of season 3 of The Flash, the future seems ambiguous for Caitlin Snow / Killer Frost. The character abandoned Killer Frost's cold blue glow in favor of Caitlin's brown eyes and, while keeping her hair white, explained to Barry that she was neither Killer Frost nor Caitlin Snow. Danielle Panabaker, who plays the character, was also inaccurate about her metahumanist status. However, in the poster, she is labeled as "Killer Frost" and again has these brilliant blue eyes. This may suggest that the character continues to switch between his two personalities or that the team will need Killer Frost in person for combatbe the evil Earth-X.Captain ColdCaptain Cold is back, baby! At San Diego's Comic-Con International, Leonard Snart has been confirmed to return to a recurring role for Season 3 of DC Legends of Tomorrow and even, to everyone's surprise, has his place on this image of "Crisis in Earth - X ", just behind Barry's head. Beyond the return, the details surrounding the return of Captain Cold are kept secret. The last time we saw him, he was torn from a time earlier in the course of time and became a member of the Legion of Evil, although he eventually returned to the moment he left and with a clean mind. Snart also sacrificed his life to save the legends of the team in season 1. It is still not clear how he will return and whether he will end up with Legends in one way or another. So it's surprising to see him appear on the cover of "Crisis on Earth-X", and wear the classic glasses of his cartoon equivalent, not less. Can it be Citizen Cold, a version of the alternative world of the character who became a hero instead of a villain? The commitment of Barry and Iris On the other hand, Jiménez's work definitively confirms the evolution of the relationship between Barry and Iris. They were both compromised after the comings and goings when Barry sacrificed himself to the Speed Force at the end of season 3 of The Flash, and actress Candice Patton suggested that Iris feels a little betrayed by the actions of her fiancé. However, the executive producers of the program have confirmed that both will walk (or run) to the altar. The image gives us a first look at the couple's wedding. The poster also reveals that the marriage would occur fairly early, before reaching the middle of the season. The Wedding ComicThe crossover "Crisis on Earth-X" will also develop a classic cartoon theme: The Interrupted Wedding. Flash, in particular, has a story with this theme. In fact, his marriage with Fiona Webb after Iris's death led directly to the story "The Trial of Flash"; While Reverse Flash seemed to attempt to assassinate Fiona, Barry hastened to stop him and, in his haste, "killed" Reverse Flash, so he was brought to justice. The Crisis on Earth-X poster and the synopsis of the episode indicate the crossing to its own story / theme, not the particular story. DC Comics Crossover CoversIt is also interesting to note that Jiménez's cover honors directly the classic DC Comics covers. As shown in the following examples, the poster "Crisis on Earth-X" follows a similar format: an action surrounded by the profiles of the characters that mark the main actors in the story. In fact, the first example below invokes "Crisis on Earth-A", which resembles the design of the title "Crisis on Earth-X".

Part 6: Means To An End
In which Lauren finally gets home from work and has more than a bit of trouble quieting her mind.

It's late by the time Lauren gets home. She climbs slowly up to her fourth floor apartment, trying to process the day's events. Her mind bounces back and forth between the image of Antonio Reyes’ lifeless, battered body and Jiemenez's feral grin, intermixed with the blood spattered home they'd been called to when she'd returned to the precinct. As soon as she'd gotten back to her desk, Sergeant Albrecht had stepped out of his office, telling Lauren and Marcus that they had another case; a patrol officer had been called to do a welfare check by a family member of the homeowner, and he'd stumbled upon a total blood bath with no dead body.
Marcus had spent more of his time on the scene trying to chat her up -poorly attempting to be funny and asking where she had gone earlier- than he had actually trying to do any work. Lauren was in no mood for it, and hadn't bothered to entertain him in the slightest. She was tired and she felt oddly numb, now that the anger and adrenaline of the day had finally petered out.
Sliding her key into her apartment door, Lauren cranks the handle and steps inside. Immediately, her eyes scan the main space of the small apartment, moving from the kitchen on the left, over to the living room. Ellie’s babysitter, Mrs. Anne, sits on the couch watching the evening news.
“Welcome home, Lauren,” Anne says softly, smiling. Lauren gives her a half hearted smile and quietly says hello.
“Ellie is asleep,” Anne continues as she moves to stand up, knowing that Ellie would be the first thing she would want to know about. She explains that Ellie's homework is done, that she'd had dinner, brushed her teeth, and was now in bed.
“Thank you for looking after her. I appreciate it,” Lauren replies quietly, pulling her service weapon from its holster and placing it on the kitchen counter, grateful that Anne isn't skittish about guns like most were. “I didn’t intend to be home this late.”
Anne simply waves a hand, telling Lauren not to worry about it and that she knew it was a busy day. Lauren chuckles bitterly at that. ‘Busy' wasn't exactly the word she would use.
Infuriating. Exhausting. Confusing.
Those were all much more apt.
“You didn't let Ellie watch, did you?” Lauren asks, moving to sit at the kitchen counter. Anne always kept a close eye on the news as a way of having an idea of what Lauren might have been dealing with throughout the day. She meant well, she really did. The problem was that Ellie understood exactly why. “She always gets so worried.”
Anne shakes her head.
“No, I know how she is. She would have been worried to death to hear about the pursuit for the bastard that killed that Reyes boy.”
Lauren winces before she can stop herself, picturing the boy's broken face once again. The picture she had shown Jimenez was still in her jacket pocket. For a moment, she considers being vindictive, considers showing Anne the photograph of the boy in her pocket and saying ‘this is what I deal with,’ but she quickly shoves that feeling down.
“You want to talk about it?”
Lauren is quick to shake her head.
What exactly could she tell her? That she had caught Muñoz when he'd fled out the back door of the house, only for him to be bonded out a few hours later, and that she had made a deal with a cartel boss to ensure that he ended up back in jail?
“There's not much to talk about,” Lauren says, and though she's almost certain the older woman knows she's lying, she doesn't push the issue.
“It's just so sad, though,” Anne concedes somberly. “To lose your only child and have to move on without them…”
Lauren braces herself as Anne trails off, knowing that she's about to go off on a tangent. It doesn't happen often, but Lauren hates it when she does. Other than upsetting her child, it's another reason Lauren isn't a fan of Anne watching the news so closely.
Usually, she is looking for some sort of scrap of information that is positive to hold on to, or she's looking for some kind of tidbit that gives her some kind of understanding for the madness.
Lauren rarely has any solace or explanation to offer.
“Meanwhile,” Anne starts again, “that bastard gets to live out the rest of his life. Quite frankly, I think a bullet would be a cheaper solution, don't you?”
Lauren’s stomach turns.
How about a pissed off Cartel boss stringing him up by his vital organs?
If only justice were as black and white as Anne made it sound.
It would be better for Marcella Reyes to see her son's killer go to prison. It would.
‘Says you', Jimenez's words echo again, and she desperately wishes that she could just get him out of her head. His voice, the image of him with his back to the wall, staring down at her with black, lust glazed eyes as he tangled his fingers into her hair-
A chill runs down her spine.
“Anyways,” Anne says, and Lauren realizes she hadn't heard a word of what the older woman had said. “I'm sure you're tired.”
Anne makes her way to the door, and Lauren moves to follow. She chatters away as she goes; she gives a string of goodbyes, mentions buying Ellie some new clothes, asks Lauren about whether or not she's found someone to watch Ellie in a few weeks, because she would be traveling to Maine for a week to see her family.
Lauren gives the bare minimum as far as responses go, too tired to do much else, until Anne is finally out the door.
Once it closes, the silence is crushing.
Ellie is asleep in bed with her favorite stuffed frog, the front door and windows are locked, and all the madness that lurks beyond them is effectively shut away.
The apartment was just as it should be; everything was peaceful and quiet.
Everything except her mind.
Realization had set in about what she had done today, and now in the quiet and dim light of her apartment Lauren can't deny it. She can't deny that the deal with Jimenez for Muñoz's life had been a little too easy to make, can't deny that she had enjoyed the lust in his dark eyes and the way he'd made her feel.
In that alley with Jimenez, for once, her mind had finally quieted. All of her worries, her stress, her fears, they had all melted away.
It was the strangest thing to be craving that feeling now.
Moving quietly through the apartment, Lauren makes her way to her room, and then into the bathroom. The water takes forever to heat up, so she cranks the shower on, wincing when the handle squeaks. Stripping out of her jeans and t-shirt, Lauren drops them to the floor and kicks them aside. Running a hand through her long, blonde hair, she leans against the bathroom sink, taking in a deep breath before slowly exhaling.
Her whole body is sore and tight with tension, and breathing does little to help. She'd hit the ground hard when she'd taken down Muñoz, scraping both her elbow and her right knee, but she’d barely noticed until now. Glancing into the mirror, Lauren can't deny that she's tired. It's plain to see in the way that her blue-grey eyes are dim and red around the edges.
“Let me see those pretty eyes.”
Lauren shakes her head, chasing Jimenez’s voice out of her thoughts. Again.
Stepping into the now warm shower, Lauren immediately dips her head under the spray of the water and revels in it. Finally -finally- her muscles start to loosen up some.
Some.
She tries everything she can think of that might help. She rolls her head, her shoulders. She stretches her arms.
It's not enough. No matter what she does, she simply cannot-
Lauren closes her eyes, and finds Jimenez staring back at her. He reaches out to touch her, fingertips brushing gently against her cheek and she chokes out a breath. His touch -even imagined- is a spark that lights a fire, and Lauren can't help but waver.
It would be completely harmless to give in the blaze, to chase that feeling that she'd felt earlier.
What she envisioned with Jimenez, it would live only in her head; he would never know about what sort of things she'd imagined in the hopes of silencing her inner demons.
He was just a means to an end.
So, Lauren lets her mind wander.

Neymar to fire Brazil into quarter-finals? Lawro's last-16 predictions
World Cup 2018 on the BBC Host: Russia Dates: 14 June – 15 July Live: Coverage across BBC TV, BBC Radio and BBC Sport website with further coverage on Red Button, Connected TVs and mobile app.
Half of the 32 teams have gone home, but which of the survivors will go all the way to the World Cup final at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on 15 July?
The hopes of eight more nations will bite the dust after the first knockout round, which includes France versus Argentina and England against Colombia.
BBC Sport football expert Mark Lawrenson is making a prediction for every match in Russia, and correctly guessed the outcome of 22 of the 48 group games.
Before the tournament, Lawro chose 14 of the 16 teams that are through to the first knockout stage, including Brazil, his pick to win the tournament, and England, who he believes will reach the quarter-finals.
Lawro was speaking to BBC Sport’s Chris Bevan in Moscow.
Games Score Lawro’s prediction Saturday, 30 June France v Argentina x-x 2-1 Uruguay v Portugal x-x 1-0 Sunday, 1 July Spain v Russia x-x 2-0 Croatia v Denmark x-x 2-0 Monday 2 July Brazil v Mexico x-x 2-0 Belgium v Japan x-x 2-0 Tuesday 3 July Sweden v Switzerland x-x 0-1 Colombia v England x-x 0-2
Saturday, 30 June

France v Argentina (Kazan Arena, Kazan, 15:00 BST)
If the Argentina players did have a say in team selection and tactics after their talks with coach Jorge Sampaoli, then one of the decisions they made was to go back to playing with a back four.
I still don’t think they are very good defensively – but they are trying to keep things simple and as tight as possible, and then look for a bit of genius from Lionel Messi – who did exactly that against Nigeria.
While Argentina only just made it to the last 16, France got out of their group without any trouble whatsoever.
Les Bleus have not played anywhere near to their potential yet, and the disjointed performance in their draw with Denmark was not helped by the changes made by boss Didier Deschamps.
I still think France look far better with Olivier Giroud up front and with Paul Pogba in a deeper role alongside N’Golo Kante, rather than two dedicated defensive midfielders.
Sooner or later, I think we are going to see the France players put in a big performance. If they produce it in Kazan, they will win.
Lawro’s prediction: 2-1
<!–
Uruguay v Portugal (Fisht Olympic Stadium, Sochi, 19:00 BST)
This will be a busy evening for the referee, not least with Uruguay’s Atletico Madrid centre-halves Diego Godin and Jose Jimenez up against Portugal’s Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
Portugal will not change the way they play, which is quite one-dimensional and not particularly inspiring.
Uruguay have not exactly set this tournament alight with their attacking play either, but they are more adventurous and have a few more ideas when they come forward.
Lawro’s prediction: 1-0
Sunday, 1 July
<!–
Spain v Russia (Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, 15:00 BST)
Russia have done very well to get this far, but I think Spain are a step up in class that will be too much for them.
The home support will help the hosts, and there are question marks over some of Spain’s defending at this tournament, but the Spanish players will have so much of the ball on Sunday that I don’t think it will be a great issue.
Lawro’s prediction: 2-0
<!–
Croatia v Denmark (Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, Nizhny Novgorod, 19:00 BST)
I have been very impressed by Croatia, I cannot really see a weak link in their midfield, either centrally or out wide, and they have an attacking outlook right through their team.
Denmark, in contrast, are very ordinary. I am sure they will create some chances, but most of their build-up play is under the ‘hopeful’ category, unless they can get Christian Eriksen on the ball.
Lawro’s prediction: 2-0
Monday, 2 July
<!–
Brazil v Mexico (Samara Arena, Samara, 15:00 BST)
I don’t think Brazil enjoy playing against Mexico, who have a decent record against them.
Brazil have won four of their past six meetings but, since 1999, Mexico have won seven and draw three of their 15 matches.
So the Mexicans will not fear them the way some teams do – but they might have problems stopping them.
Brazil look like they are just starting to come to the boil. Neymar has not really got going yet but, when their attack clicks, the pace with which they come forward is frightening.
Lawro’s prediction: 2-0
<!–
Belgium v Japan (Rostov Arena, Rostov-on-Don, 19:00 BST)
Senegal were actually the team in Group H that I thought would give Belgium and England problems – but they did not make it into the last 16.
When Belgium have played their strongest side they have not struggled to create chances but, even then, they have not looked like the cohesive unit they will need to be to go far in this tournament.
Roberto Martinez’s side will win this tie, though, because I don’t think Japan will be able to cope with their attacking power.
Lawro’s prediction: 2-0
Tuesday, 3 July
<!–
Sweden v Switzerland (Krestovsky Stadium, St Petersburg, 15:00 BST)
Switzerland have been playing well and got out of Group E without too much fuss.
It is very obvious what Sweden do, and they definitely play to their strengths without having any really talented strikers.
From what I have seen of the Swiss, they just have a little bit more about them, which is why I am backing them to get to the quarter-finals.
Lawro’s prediction: 0-1
<!–
Colombia v England (Otkritie Arena, Moscow, 19:00 BST)
I don’t buy the theory that England are better off because they lost to Belgium in their final game in Group G.
Forget about them being in what people consider to be the easier half of the draw, because keeping on winning is the best thing you can do at a World Cup – you do not want to risk stopping the momentum you have built up.
So, we will see what effect making so many changes has on England, but I actually think they will be fine against Colombia.
They have some good players, but I don’t think they will be able to cope with England’s high-pressing game.
Lawro’s prediction: 0-2

An Interview With Atos’ Young Gun, Kaynan Duarte
Kaynan Duarte is preparing for a match-up with Alliance Team Gacho’s Roberto Jimenez in the second round of the JiuJitsu.net Challenge on February 18.
Kaynan Duarte is a purple belt from Team Atos who has notably taken double gold in the Purple Belt No Gi Worlds. The Jiu-Jitsu Times caught up with Kaynan and asked him a few questions as he prepared for his upcoming match.
Jiu-Jitsu Times: Kaynan, can you tell us when you started training and a little about your athletic background?
Kaynan Duarte: I started training judo from a very young age, and at the age of 12, I moved to jiu-jitsu at the invitation of a cousin. I am from Pederneiras / SP, a city of 50,000 inhabitants, very small in the interior of Sao Paulo. My first teachers are Ze Luis and Paulo Ledesma, and now I’m with Andre Galvao in San Diego acts.
Posted by José Luís X Altaiza on Saturday, October 29, 2016
Jiu-Jitsu Times: Kaynan, what you have been up to competitively in the last year? Which tournaments have you competed in? Any titles?
Kaynan Duarte: I did World Pro, World IBJJF, Brazil National, No-Gi Worlds, and ADCC Trials.
In the youth category, blue belt, I gained weight and absolute bread, Brazilian, and worldwide, and last year, in my first year of adulthood and already in the new purple belt, I got a bronze medal in the World Pro, silver Brazil National and double gold in No-Gi World and the latest gold in ADCC trials Rio de Janeiro.
Jiu-Jitsu Times: You are set to match another tough competitor in Roberto Jimenez from Alliance Team Gacho. How do you see your game matching up against the skills of Jimenez? What is your game? What areas of the fight do you feel you might have an advantage?
Kaynan Duarte: He is a good athlete. He is doing a good campaign, but I think of the championship in general and not only him.
I cannot answer this because I always try to train in all aspects to be comfortable in any position, from the standing part to my guard. And to know which is the best game or who will win, we will know tomorrow!
Jiu-Jitsu Times: You took home double gold in the Purple Belt No-Gi Worlds. What was your key to victory in that event?
Kaynan Duarte: World No-Gi was my first no-gi IBJJF championship; but before that, I prepared myself a lot with all the team acts with Professor Andre Galvao. Besides I won double gold, we were team champion, and it was worth all the sacrifice in training.

Jiu-Jitsu Times: Can you describe what a typical training week is like to prepare for a competition? Does your training differ much depending if the event is Submission only, no-gi or IBJJF rules? What training methods do you use to make you ready for a match like this?
Kaynan Duarte: I train all year long, but before all big competition, we do a focused job for that. If I go to fight no-gi, I forget the kimono, and the same is when I will fight for gi. This year is just beginning, and I believe it will be the best year for me and the whole team. I am very excited to start the camp for the big competitions with all-time acts led by multi-champion Galvao.
Jiu-Jitsu Times: Lastly, would you like to shout out to any sponsors, training partners, or coaches?
Kaynan Duarte: I want to thank my sponsors, Stormstrong, Commercial Ferraz, and Pharmacy Multidrogas Pederneiras, Professors Ze Luis, Paulo Ledesma, and Andre Galvao for the opportunity.

Lauren's breathing slows and all she can hear is the pounding of her heart in her chest. Jimenez's eyes are dark -pitch black- and the anger he'd been keeping just under wraps is finally showing.
It sends a chill down her spine.
“You're going to kill him.”
Jimenez doesn't reply, but the resolute set of his jaw tells her exactly what his intentions are.
This was the man who'd spotted her in a night club almost a year ago -completely unaware that she was an undercover cop- and decided he'd wanted her. This was the man who’d refused to take no for an answer, the man who had tracked her down to try and convince her otherwise, and in doing so, he'd found a woman who wasn't a party girl or some asshole's arm candy; she was a cop, and a damn good one at that, drowning in medical debt trying to take care of her daughter who'd been born with a heart defect.
Instead of tucking tail and running, which would have been wise on his part, he'd offered her a deal.
It was a simple arrangement.
Lauren would turn a blind eye here and there, or give him a heads up on anything that might impede his more nefarious business, and in return, Jimenez would pay for her daughter's medical bills.
He could have asked her for anything; the depths of corruption he could have dragged her down into were fathomless, and for Ellie, Jimenez knew there wasn't too much she wouldn't do in exchange for what he offered. He'd found her Achilles heel and had driven the knife in without thinking twice.
It was smart of him, really. Ask the bare minimum to pull her in, and then once she was hooked, she was at his mercy. That was how manipulation worked, and Lauren was a textbook case.
Jimenez could have asked her for anything, but he hadn't asked for much at all. Until now.
But she couldn't let him do this. She couldn't stand aside and let him murder Muñoz even if she wanted to.
He more than deserved to suffer.
But death was too easy a way out.
“You can't kill him,” Lauren breathes into the heavy silence. Her voice is softer than she expects, and she almost cringes at how she sounds so timid.
No longer spiraling at the thought of a decidedly bad choice made on behalf of her daughter being even worse, Lauren is a lot more inclined to be reasonable.
“I would think you would want him to suffer,” Jimenez responds, his voice soft. He’d let go of her wrist and neck, but still stands well within her personal space, crowding her against the brick wall.
She doesn't mind the close proximity, doesn't mind that he's near enough for her to smell whatever expensive cologne he's wearing; the fragrant hints of leather, tobacco, and mandarin are a pleasant change from the petrichor and smoke that's permeated the city for the last week.
“I do,” Lauren grits out, perhaps too resolutely, and she feels almost like she's trying to calm a wild animal. This particular one just happens to already have her in his claws. “But it needs to be the legal way.”
“Why? The boy is already dead. You can't change that, Detective.”
Lauren shoots a sharp glare at him; she doesn't need to be reminded of that.
“His mother is still alive. She deserves justice, don't you think?”
Jimenez smiles, all teeth and no humor. Lauren is almost surprised that she doesn't see the sharp fangs of a vicious predator.
“I don't think she'll have any complaints about me skinning him from the ankles.”
“Probably not,” Lauren concedes quietly. “But she'd probably have a problem with you chaining cinder blocks to his ankles and throwing him in the Hudson, never to be found. Don't bullshit me, Jimenez. I know your MO.”
Jimenez shrugs nonchalantly as if they were talking about a baseball game and not murder.
“Look, I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve whatever you have in mind, but that boy's mother will need closure-” Jimenez scoffs, cutting Lauren off, and then he lets out a laugh.
He fucking laughs and Lauren sees red.
“What are you fucking laughing at,” she hisses, her blood boiling again.
“Justice? Closure? Come on, Detective. Marcella Reyes just lost her only son and you think relying on the justice system is the best way to handle this,” he questions.
Lauren is quick to fire back at him.
“It's better than Muñoz dropping off the face of the fucking earth and her never knowing what happened to him. For all she knows he could be off in Mexico somewhere!”
“So you say,” Jimenez snaps, “but do you really believe that?”
Lauren opens her mouth to speak, but clamps it back shut as she falters. For her, personally, if someone hurt Ellie, 'closure’ would be the last thing she'd want. Lauren had seen the justice system fail over and over again. She'd seen horrible monsters walk free on technicalities, because of badly written citations, or a whole number of other reasons, and for the ones who did end up in prison? The prison system -miserable as it might be- still wasn't a good enough punishment. Not if it were her child.
And most of them never even did the full amount of time they were sentenced with.
She understands where he's coming from, but-
“That's what I thought.”
He's smirking at her, and she’s tempted to swing at him again, just to wipe that smug, triumphant look off his face.
“This isn't about me, Jimenez.”
He leans in close again, putting his hands on the bricks on either side of her head and Lauren tenses.
“No, it isn't,” he says. “If I give you Muñoz, then I lose the opportunity to make an example out of him, to remind my men that we don’t harm children. What happens if I let you have him, hm? Are you sure you can make the charge stick?”
Lauren grits her teeth for a moment in indignation, and then answers, “of course I can make the charge stick. Are you questioning my skills?”
Jimenez smiles.
“No,” he says softly, reaching over to brush rain-damp hair out of her face. His touch is feather light, and although it raises chills across the back of her neck, Lauren chooses not to acknowledge the gesture at all. She refuses to give him the satisfaction of knowing he has any kind of effect on her.
“You're a good cop.”
It's Lauren who laughs now, though there's little humor in it. She speaks before thinking.
“That's debatable.”
Jimenez's hand drops to her chin, tilting her head up until she's looking at him. His eyes are jet black again, dark with something that is decidedly not anger.
Lauren plays into it. He still hadn't agreed to let her take Muñoz down her way.
“You are.”
“I made a deal with you,” she counters.
A deal with the devil.
Because that might as well have been what it was.
“No one would consider that as good, even if my intentions were. Especially not when I'm about to make another one.”
