Weakness, One Shot
Thank you for the prompt! I hope you like it: Would you be up for writing a one shot where omegaverse Alpha!Loki kidnaps an omega going into her first heat so he can have her for himself? Also could he like accidentally find out that she's ticklish while he's kidnapping her and use that to his advantage (both while kidnapping her and once he has her where he wants her). Also non-con/rape?
WARNINGS: Rape/Non-con, kidnapping.
-
Loki was hungry.
But not for food. No, he was hungry in a different way. In-fact, he was starving for an omega of his own.
And he could smell one, one that was in heat. Unmated. But even unmated omegas in heat could be difficult to win round, they often needed to have a bond first.
But Loki didn’t have the patience to wait for that to happen.
He stalked her at first from a distance, but her scent blowing back towards him in the wind was driving him crazy. Already making him hard. So he quickened his pace after her, that’s when she suddenly caught the smell of an Alpha.
She stopped and turned around, seeing a tall and incredibly intimidating Alpha coming towards her. But her eyes widened as she recognised him. Loki. Who had tried to take over Earth, destroying New York.
Letting out a small squeak of fear upon realising he was pursuing her, she turned and started to run.
Loki let out a dark chuckle when she started to run.
‘Oh you can run, pet. But you won’t get away from me.’ He growled and chased after her.
His long legs easily had him catching up to her in no time, he reached out and grabbed her with an arm around her middle. She let out a cry and started kicking out, screaming. There weren’t many people around, but there was one or two in the distance that started heading over towards them.
‘Mmmm.’ He breathed her in deeply as he pressed his nose into her neck, taking in her scent. ‘Lovely omega.’ But as he rubbed his nose against her neck, she let out a weird noise that was between a laugh and a cry as she tried to shrug her shoulder upwards.
He raised an eyebrow, curious. The hand around her middle, he slid it under her top and lightly brushed against her side. She let out a burst of laughter and tried squirming away.
‘Ohh my, haven’t I landed lucky? Not only an omega in heat, but a ticklish one too.’ He purred in delight.
Two beta’s came rushing over, to see if the omega needed help. Loki didn’t want to cause a scene, so he spidered his fingers up and down her side and had her laughing hysterically so she couldn’t say anything to them.
‘Is… everything ok?’ One of them asked cautiously.
‘Oh yes. Just having some fun with my omega.’ Loki growled over her laughter.
She tried to ask for help, but couldn’t for laughing. And the scent of an Alpha so close to her, pressing against her, was starting to cloud her in heat mind.
The betas nodded, not seeing the problem now really. It wasn’t abnormal for Alphas and omegas to play around outside, part of their foreplay sometimes they did a game of ‘hunting’.
Loki waited until they were far enough away, then he stopped tickling her, much to her relief so she could breathe again properly without her stomach hurting.
‘Come now, my omega. You’re in heat and I can give you what you need.’ He growled into her ear.
‘Please… No.’ She whined, but Loki threw her over his shoulder with ease and whisked her away off the streets. He so wished he still had his powers, but he had to make do with what he still had. His super strength and speed.
She was taken to a car that was parked not too far away. Loki bundled her into the boot, ignoring her scared pleas and begging.
He drove carefully but quickly, desperate to get her back to his home. Her scent was filling the car, driving him crazy. His cock was throbbing hard, knowing there was an omega in heat in his boot.
When he got her home, he didn’t waste any time in taking her inside and straight up to his bedroom. She tried to make an escape again, running towards the door. But Loki was too quick and easily captured her, bringing her back to the bed.
He began undressing her, he almost wanted to take his time to unwrap his present. She was a stunning little thing, but he needed to be inside her as of yesterday. He was salivating at the mouth, her smell driving him absolutely wild.
She was terrified, the hungry look in his face as he tore at her clothes. She hadn’t wanted to be taken like this, she wanted to meet a nice Alpha to look after her. To be gentle with her. Even if her body was just screaming at her to submit to him, to let him give her body what she needed.
‘Please…’ She sobbed again as he tore off the last piece of her clothing.
Loki growled and crawled up over her body after shrugging his trousers down, revealing his throbbing hard cock that pressed heavily against her stomach while he lay himself over her, cupping her face.
‘Shhh, shhh. No need for the tears, little omega. This Alpha is going to look after you and give you what you need.’ He smiled and stroked the side of her face surprisingly gently with the tips of his fingers. ‘If you’re a good girl, you’ll enjoy it just as much… Your body needs me.’
She closed her eyes, tears rolling down her cheeks as she shook her head. Trying to ignore the feeling in her body that was like a lit fire, that did need Alpha cock to soothe her heat. But she didn’t want it like this, not this way.
‘Are you going to behave or do I need to restrain you, hmm?’ He nuzzled her neck as he asked. The thought of being physically restrained made her feel sick.
‘Please… don’t.’ She whispered.
Loki ignored her and gave her the benefit of the doubt for now. He slowly made his way down her body, kissing and sucking on her skin as he went, mapping out her body to his memory. When he got down to her abdomen and started kissing her lightly there, she started squirming in a different kind of way, making him smirk.
He reached up with both hands to her hips and started squeezing her lightly, making her gasp and squeak. Then he started tickling her properly, making her laugh and plead with him.
‘That’s a much better sound to hear from you than begging for me to stop.’ He grinned wickedly and moved up over her again, this time tickling up her ribs and then to her underarms.
She tried bringing her arms down hard to stop him but he gathered her hands together in one hand and pinned them straight up above her, swiftly using some rope that he had aptly placed at the top of the bed to tie them there in place. Binding her exactly how he wanted.
As he moved between her legs, he kept tickling her in various places. It kept her loose and pliant for him, unable to try and protest against what he was going to do. And it helped for when he penetrated her, it kept her distracted so she wasn’t clamping down and tightening all her muscles, even if her body was prepared and in heat. Her mind needed to be with it, too.
Unable to take his time any longer, he sheathed his cock into her in one fluid motion. He cried out in pleasure and paused tickling her for the meantime. He felt her clenching hard around him, struggling to adjust to the intrusion. But she was slick, her body’s natural way of wanting nature to happen.
‘You’re my omega, you belong to me.’ He snarled and then started to move his hips, thrusting into her as he wrapped a hand around her neck, making her eyes widen in fear.
But he didn’t restrict her breathing much, just a little bit here and there. Forcing her body to submit to him. And before she knew it, she was responding well, even if her mind would never be on board.
It was rough and hurried as Loki went into a frenzied rut, but it was putting out the painful heat within her.
Then she knew it would be all over soon, as she felt his cock starting to swell a little just at her entrance. But he was struggling to push it into her.
‘Let me in, omega. You’re mine now.’ He commanded as he moved his hips in circles to try and grind his way into her. He began tickling her lightly again, making her giggle and relax just that little bit enough so he could push fully into her, his knot then instantly started to swell within her, throbbing hotly on her g spot as he came.
She cried out in pleasure as she was finally forced to cum too, feeling his knot hitting the right place and the way he emptied inside her, doing what an Alpha should do for an omega in heat.
‘Ohhh, yes.’ Loki shouted in completion, then he buried his face into her neck and bit her hard, marking her on the outside too.
After their bodies calmed down, once Loki’s knot stopped throbbing quite as intensely, and she stopped gushing over him, Loki lifted up just enough so he could look into her eyes.
‘Mmm, it’s not often one can find out their omega’s weakness straight away. But I must say, it certainly came in handy. Didn’t it?’ He grinned wickedly and made his point by trailing a lone finger down her side, making her jerk and giggle a tiny bit, even if she hadn’t wanted to react.
‘Such a fun omega you are going to be… And you’re all mine.’

“Do you know why there’s a true love’s kiss and not a true love’s hug?”
“Why?”
“What do you mean ‘why’? I was asking you.”
Harry sighed, his hands gripping the steering wheel. He had to keep his eyes on the road, but Ezi would keep distracting him with her shifting in her seat every two seconds and rambling on about silly topics he had no interest in. However, he’d promised to not be a dick whenever she talked to him, so he wouldn’t.
“Can’t you see that I’m driving?”
“So?” Ezi snorted. “Just answer the question.”
Harry sighed again. “I guess that’s because a kiss is more special than a hug...romantically.”
“Why?”
“Why not?”
“Why not not? You’re just exchanging saliva.”
“It’s special if you’re exchanging saliva with someone you care about.”
Ezi still wasn’t satisfied with that explanation. “Okay, but what if the person won’t let you kiss them? How will you know if it’s true love?”
“If they don’t want to kiss you, it means they’re not interested, and therefore, it’s not true love,” Harry said. He couldn’t believe he was actually giving this some thought, but oh well, it was a long drive to the manor anyway. “For me at least,” he added, “true love must come from both sides.” Then he stole a glance at her and did a double-take. “Are you taking notes on your phone?”
Ezi flinched and put her phone into her bag right when she made eye contact with him. “No.”
“Liar. You were.”
“I’m learning to be human.”
“Just say you wanna kiss me.” Harry smirked. “We’re the only people here. This is a safe space.”
“It’s never a safe space when you’re in it,” Ezi said.
Harry’s eyebrows went high. “Excuse me? Yesterday you almost attacked a child for cutting the line in the supermarket.”
Ezi gave a firm nod without showing any remorse. “And the child would have deserved it. You, on the other hand, are deadly with your words.”
“How?!” cried Harry. “I’ve been nothing but nice to you ever since we started fake dating.”
Ezi rolled her eyes and checked her watch. “Yeah, your new record of being nice to me is two hours. Congrats.”
Harry exhaled, his shoulders slumped. “Okay, I think we should go over what to do when we see my mum, because if we act like this in front of her--”
“Why are we seeing your mother again?”
“Didn’t Jeff tell you?”
Ezi shook her head. She seemed quite confused, so Harry guessed Jeff had forgotten. To be honest, Harry found it funny and a little concerning that she had no idea why she was in the car after having been in the car for two hours. Someone could just kidnap her one day, and she wouldn’t even realise until they told her it was a kidnap. Or, maybe she just trusted him not to drive her to a government lab and donate her organs to science.
“Well, Jeff wants some new PR content of you hanging out with my family,” he told her.
“Why?” she asked, face scrunched up.
He lifted his shoulders. “To humanise you.”
“Good luck with that,” Ezi scoffed, rested her elbow on the window on her side and twirled a strand of hair around her finger. “It takes a lot to humanise me.”
“Well, not literally. Just in the public eye, because a lot of people suspect that this is a PR relationship. We’ve only been seen together as friends or co-workers.”
“That’s not true. We’re not even friends.”
“Exactly!” Harry exclaimed. “So if we can convince my mother that we’re dating, we can convince the whole world. Trust me.”
Harry didn’t even exaggerate it; his mother could detect a lie from miles away. He could count the number of times he’d got away with a lie to her on one hand. However, he had never lied to her about being in a relationship. So hopefully, she’d be too happy with the thought of him not being a player like his dad to tell the whole thing was fake.
And so for the rest of the drive, he and Ezi tried acting out scenarios for when they met his mother again. They broke out laughing most of the time because Harry would say something too cheesy or Ezi would use some lines she’d learned from those Netflix originals that Harry had rated one star. Now that they were standing on the steps of the manor, they had to keep it together. Because no one would shout ‘cut!’ if they messed up their lines. This was almost like going in for a blind audition, and Harry knew his mother would be the toughest judge to impress.
“Harold!”
“Niall?” Harry’s eyes went wide when his best friend shoved the butler aside and embraced Harry at the door. Mikasa, Niall’s girlfriend, was standing right behind him, wearing a dark green satin dress that fell loosely to her knees. She gave Harry a lopsided smile, her black curls bouncing on her shoulders as she approached.
Harry hadn’t talked to her for weeks, but he assumed she already knew about Ezi. Hopefully just as much as his mother did. Unless Niall had broken the bro code and told Mikasa everything.
“Mimi, long time no see!” Harry said as he went in for a hug.
Mikasa eyed him up and down with her big smokey eyes. He always imagined those eyes having a special power that enabled her to stare right into his soul and read him like an unsealed letter. She was a psychiatrist and always making her friends feel like they were having a regular session in her office.
“So this is your girlfriend?” Mikasa asked, smiling at Ezi.
Harry’s gaze jumped to Niall, who subtly locked his lips with an invisible key and tossed it over his shoulder. Niall knew about the PR relationship, but Harry could always trust Niall not to tell anyone, even Mikasa. Especially Mikasa.
“Darling, you made it!” exclaimed Harry’s mother as she descended the stairs. Harry was just going in for a hug when he saw who were following behind her. And he froze.
Dawson and evil Aunt Beatrice. Dawson was wearing a simple black suit, completely made invisible by his mother in the tackiest neon orange sundress Harry had ever seen. He could hear his stylish crying just from seeing this outfit.
“What are they doing here, Mum?” Harry quietly asked his mother as they hugged.
His mother kissed his cheek and whispered back, “Since you invited Niall and Mikasa, I thought I should invite Dawson and his mother.”
“How is that the same thing?”
“Harry!” Aunt Beatrice said in her glass-breaking voice as she pulled him in for a suffocating bear hug. “Ah, you grew up so fast! I hardly recognise you!”
“It’s only been a couple of weeks, Aunt Beatrice.”
“I know, right? Kids these days.”
“I’m twenty-four.”
“Harry,” Harry’s mother reminded him, so Harry took a deep breath and went to stand beside Ezi. She looked at him like a deer in front of headlights. This couldn’t be good. His family must be overwhelming for her.
“Hey, Ezili!” Dawson waved at her with a smile, and suddenly, her face brightened, and she enthusiastically waved back. Traitorous little fish, Harry thought as he watched the two greet one another.
“Congratulations, you two,” Dawson said.
Ezi opened her mouth to reply when Harry threw his arm around her shoulders and pulled her back to his side. He gave Dawson the best grin he could fake. “Thanks,” was all he said.
“Picture, everyone!” Niall interrupted the awkward interaction and pulled out his phone.
Everyone gathered together, and Niall winked at Harry. “Now, Mother Styles, could you stand closer to Ezili? Closer! Thanks. There we go. Looks like Ezili’s a part of the family.”
Once the picture was taken, he nudged Harry with his shoulder. “You’re welcome, asshole.”
Harry patted him on the back. “Send it to Jeff for me.”
“Boys, are you coming?” asked Mikasa, who was walking ahead, holding Ezi’s hand.
“Coming, lovebug!” Niall shouted at her and told Harry. “See? She likes Ezili.”
.
.
.
“So what do you do for a living?” was the first question Harry’s mother asked Ezili when they sat down at the lunch table. They were eating in a glass house in the flower garden by the lake. There were people dressed in uniforms serving them tea and appetizers, and Ezili felt like she was Alice having tea with the Queen of Hearts and her courtiers in Wonderland.
“I work at a bookstore,” she said when one of the maids filled her cup with Jasmine tea.
She didn’t understand Harry’s mother’s appalled reaction and why Harry had to add, “Ezi owns a bookstore.”
“Oh, that’s nice,” Harry’s mother said, sounding strangely relieved.
Irritated, Ezili leaned in and whispered to Harry, “Why did you lie?”
But he didn’t answer and only shushed her before smiling at his mother again.
“Can’t believe I get to live to see Harry bring home a young lady!” said Aunt Beatrice. Dawson opened his mouth to interject, but she didn’t give him a chance, “I always thought you were gay!”
At that, Niall choked on his tea, and Mikasa had to rub his back as he coughed violently into his fist. Ezili knew what gay meant, but why was it a bad thing?
“What if I were?” Harry asked his aunt. “I don’t see the problem with me being gay, which I’m not.”
“These biscuits are so nice, Aunt Annalise,” Dawson told Harry’s mother, probably trying to save the conversation from turning into a fight. But it seemed like Dawson’s mother was out for blood this morning.
“Harry,” Aunt Beatrice started again, and Ezili saw Mikasa and Niall sink into their chairs. “You’re a celebrity and the heir to this manor and your father's business. It’s so...unexpected of you to be dating some girl who works in a bookstore.”
Ezili wasn’t dumb. She might not understand a lot of things humans said, but she knew sarcasm like her mother tongue. It was her time to say something.
“What’s wrong with working in a bookstore?” she asked, making direct eye contact with Aunt Beatrice, who was shocked by the question. Everyone at the table seemed to be holding their breath.
“How much could you possibly do and make by owning a bookstore these days?” Aunt Beatrice laughed.
Ezili smirked and shook her head. “You could do and make a lot if you knew how to read.”
Harry kicked Ezili’s foot under the table, but she didn’t pay him a single glance. She believed she’d said nothing wrong at all. It was only the truth. Because why look down on people who worked at a bookstore unless you hated books because you couldn’t read?
Seeing his mother’s face turning red, Dawson burst out laughing. “Oh my God, she’s so funny!” Mikasa and Niall started laughing, too, and Harry’s mother awkwardly joined in.
“That’s what they call dark humour, Aunt Beatrice,” Niall told the angry giant lady. “Ezi’s a true Gen Z. She’s all jokes.”
Aunt Beatrice said nothing else. She shot a glare at a smiling Ezili and lifted her cup to take a sip.
“Oh, there’s my new cook!” said Harry’s mother as she waved at the door. “This is Dolores' first day at work. Come say hello, Dolores dear.”
“Good morning. I hope everyone’s having a wonderful time.”
Ezili’s entire body went stiff. Her eyes almost popped out of her head and dropped onto the plate in front of her. She knew that voice. Her heart was slamming against her ribcage as she held her breath. She felt the person’s presence beside her heavy like a weight ready to crush her bones into dust. Out of the corner of her eyes, she looked up.
Her sister Koa was grinning down at her.
“Ezili, are you okay?” Dawson asked, snapping Ezili out of her numbness.
Koa’s devilish grin remained as she circled the table after wishing everyone a pleasant meal, then disappeared out of the entrance.
Why was she here? Why did she have legs? How had she found Ezili?
“Okay, let's get straight to the point,” Aunt Beatrice started again, and everyone groaned at once. “How much did he pay you?”
“Mum!” cried Dawson.
“Excuse me?” Harry arched an eyebrow.
“It’s PR, isn’t it?” Aunt Beatrice said to him. Ezili was having a hard time paying attention to the argument while her heart was still pounding in her head. Her sister was here, either for her, or after her.
“You can’t do that to your mother, Harry,” Dawson’s mother went on. “She might be easily fooled but I’m not.”
“We should’ve gone for mini-golf,” Mikasa muttered to Niall, who exhaled into his hand.
Harry turned to his mother. “You’re just gonna let her disrespect my girlfriend like that?”
His mother opened her mouth to speak, but his aunt was faster. “If she’s your girlfriend then kiss her.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Harry scoffed and threw his hands in the air.
Ezili immediately stood up. All eyes fell on her.
“Excuse me,” she said, her voice trembling. “I must go to the bathroom.”
“I’ll take you--”
“No, Harry, you stay.”
Harry slowly sat back down as Ezili pushed her chair out and headed straight for the door. Thankfully, he didn’t follow her.
She crossed the garden and asked one of the employees where the kitchen was. As it turned out, they had a separate kitchen for when they served food in the glasshouse. Ezili couldn’t see the point of having more than one kitchen, but this was no time to question it.
When she found Koa, no one else was there but them. It seemed as if Koa had known Ezili would follow her here, so she’d asked everyone else to leave.
Ezili stood at the door while her sister stood by the counter with her back turned to Ezili. The first thing Ezili noticed was the knives within Koa’s reach. Ezili must be wise when confronting her sister.
“What are you doing here?” she asked Koa in Séren.
Koa slowly turned and leaned against the counter, arms crossed. “I’m a cook. Can't you see?”
“How did you find me?”
The corner of Koa’s lips curled as she unbuttoned the collar of her white shirt and revealed a gold necklace. Ezili sucked in a breath when she saw the shiny trident-shaped medallion on her sister’s chest.
“Is that--”
“Mother’s trident,” Koa sneered. “Yes, it is.” Then she buttoned up her shirt to cover it. “Now we can see who mother trusts more.”
“Why--”
“Aunt Nerissa came for a visit last week,” Koa said. Ezili knew that name could never be associated with anything good. “Mother doesn’t trust her, so she asked me to go on land to find you, but also to keep the trident away from Nerissa’s clutches.”
Ezili swallowed hard, her fists tightly glued to her sides. “What happened to the cook?”
Koa clicked her tongue. “She’s swimming with fishes now. Like the ones swimming in her pot just then.”
“You drowned her?!”
“In the lake.”
Ezili gripped her head and advanced towards Koa. “How many humans have you killed?”
Koa chuckled and took a few steps forward until she was dangerously close enough to hurt Ezili. She stood with her back straight and arms folded, her silver eyes flickering in the sunlight. “The important question is…” She stared Ezili down. “How many have you killed?” Ezili bit her lip when Koa poked her chest with her long nail. “Or are you too busy dating now? People are talking about it everywhere.” Ezili said nothing, so Koa went on, “It’s a fake relationship, isn’t it?” She leaned in, taunting. “Come on, Sister. Admit that you’ve failed. That you can’t make the human fall in love with you. Why so quiet? Is it because if you admit it, you’re an embarrassment and you lose the trident to me, and if you deny it, then it means you’re becoming way too human to kill him.”
At that, Ezili shoved Koa away and stabbed a finger at her. “Leave me alone. Mother gave me a year for this mission.”
“We won’t have that much time, stupid,” Koa snorted. “Narissa is onto something. The queendom is already in danger as we’re speaking. And you’re here having...brunch?” She clicked her tongue, shaking her head. “Pathetic.”
“Ezi?”
Both of them whipped their heads around and saw Harry, who stiffened in the doorway.
“Ezi?” Koa cackled, hugging her stomach. “Is that your human name? Are you his pet now?”
Though confused, Harry stepped into the kitchen anyway. “Ezi, you’re alright?”
“Harry, watch out!” Ezili shouted, but Koa was already on top of Harry on the floor. She sank her fangs into Harry’s arm with the rolled-up sleeve. Harry yelped in pain as Ezili dragged her sister off of him and slammed Koa’s head against the table. Hissing, Koa grabbed a knife on the counter and aimed it at Ezili, but Ezili was fast enough to kick it out of her sister’s grip and sent one more kick into Koa’s stomach. Koa was stronger than Ezili had thought as she plunged at Ezili again.
“Harry, run!”
But Harry didn’t run. He was back on his feet, grabbed a vase and smashed it onto Koa’s back. “Do not hurt my fake girlfriend!”
Koa rolled off of Ezili. The last thing Ezili could see was her sister’s bloodied face as she stumbled towards the door and ran off into the light.
Ezili lay there until her vision cleared again, and Harry helped her back to her feet.
“What the fuck?!” he yelled. “Who the fuck was she?!”
“My sister,” Ezili said, still holding her aching head.
“The one who tried to drown me? Why is she here?”
“To kill me, I think.”
“Why?”
“Harry--”
But Harry wasn’t listening. He was pacing back and forth like a mad man. “This isn’t good, Ezi. This is bad! Your crazy sister is gonna expose us!”
“Expose us?” Ezili grabbed him by the arm and spun him around. “She almost killed you.”
It seemed as if Harry had forgotten that his arm was bleeding until Ezili had brought it up. He suddenly winced and fell into a chair.
Ezili scanned her eyes around the messy kitchen, panting as she tried to make sure that Koa had escaped. Then, she got down on her knees beside Harry and reached for his wounded arm.
He stared down at her in confusion, then his expression turned horrified when she leaned in.
“What the fuck?!” he hissed and yanked his arm away.
She glared up at him in annoyance. “Let me help!”
“Hell no! You’re not gonna lick my blood.”
“You need to clean the wound!”
“With water! Not by sucking it!”
Ezili huffed and aggressively got up while silently cursing Harry in Séren.
“There’s a--” His voice cut off when she tore off a piece of her dress “--towel over there,” he trailed off. She ignored him and went to the sink to soak the piece of fabric in water. He shook his head and blew up his cheeks. “Nevermind. You do you.”
Still glaring at him when she returned, Ezili got back down on her knees and started cleaning Harry’s arm. The place her sister had sunk her fangs into had turned dark red. It would definitely leave a huge bruise tomorrow.
“Lucky for you Koa was distracted and didn’t aim to bite your whole arm off,” Ezili whispered and glanced up, meeting Harry’s gaze. “You sure you don’t want me to lick your wound?”
“Well, now that you’re already in this position, you could just lick something else,” he chuckled.
Ezili’s eyes narrowed. “Like what?”
To her confusion, Harry covered his face and shook with laughter. “Sorry, that was a dumb joke. I just couldn’t help it.”
“I didn’t get it.”
“Yeah, that’s how a joke loses its funny,” he sighed then snapped his fingers. “Ooh, maybe I should just pretend that I don’t understand whenever someone tells me a joke, so that they gradually lose their funny.”
“That’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard,” Ezili remarked.
“What do you mean?” Harry pouted. “I don’t get it, babe.”
Ezili rolled her eyes at his childishness, still, she couldn’t help but smile a little.
Once she had wrapped the piece of her dress securely around his arm, Harry pulled down the sleeve to cover it as he got to his feet. “That should do. Let’s hope my mother won’t suspect that we just got attacked in her kitchen by her cook, who was your evil siren sister in disguise. Damn, that sounds crazy even for me.”
Ezili stood with her arms crossed. “Do you think your mother can tell we’re not really dating?”
“Nah, my mother totally believes it.” Harry shrugged. “Honestly, I think we’re doing a great job pretending we’re in love when we can’t even have a conversation without insulting each other.”
“I don’t get paid enough to call you babe so many times.”
“Neither do I. This PR relationship is harder than I tho--”
Harry’s sentence got cut off by a sound at the door. When they both turned to it, Dawson was standing there, his eyes wide with shock.
Ezili was hoping that was the reaction to the messy kitchen and not to what she and Harry had said. However, luck wasn’t smiling at her tonight. Dawson’s appalled gaze jumped from Harry to Ezili. “What do you mean by ‘PR relationship’?”
.
.
.
“I can explain,” Ezi said, reaching for Dawson, but he backed away while staring at both her and Harry in disbelief. Harry believed Dawson wasn’t shocked that Harry could pull something like this, because Harry hadn’t been exactly the good kid growing up. What Dawson hadn’t expected was Ezi being part of this plan. Ezi must be an angel in Dawson’s eyes.
“So my mother was right,” Dawson said, flicking his finger between Harry and Ezi. “You were lying to everyone.”
“Dawson--” Ezi began, but Harry pulled her back by her wrist.
“Please don’t tell my mother,” he told Dawson and received stunned looks from both Dawson and Ezi. They probably hadn’t expected that coming from him. “This means a lot to her, and I don’t want her to be any more let down,” Harry continued. “Also, Ezi needs money, and I’m just trying to help. She’s also writing the next album with me, so it’s all good business.”
Dawson peered at both their faces for a long moment as if he was psychoanalysing each of them. Then, he breathed, “So you two don't have feelings for each other?”
“No.” Ezi shook her head fast and tugged at Harry’s sleeve. “Harry, tell him.”
Harry opened his mouth. Suddenly, he thought about how frightened he’d been when he’d thought Ezi’s sister was going to kill her. He could’ve run off and let her deal with it alone since he hadn’t asked to be part of her family drama, and he wasn’t brave, either. Nevertheless, he’d jumped in to help her.
“No,” he said, only to realise he shouldn’t have taken such a long pause to say only one word.
“See?” Ezi smiled at Dawson, who seemed less sceptical now.
“Okay,” Dawson said, his face relaxed as he put his hands on his hips. “Who else knows? Niall and Mikasa?”
“Mikasa doesn’t know,” Harry said. “Only Niall.”
“Alright.” Dawson nodded and rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “But you guys are really bad at pretending to be in love,” he told them after another moment. “I’ll try to tell my mum to stop being rude to you. But just to be safe, you should make it more convincing.”
Ezi heaved a sigh of relief and placed her hand on Dawson’s arm. Harry swore he saw Dawson hold his breath as if Ezi had the Midas touch, and Harry had to fight the urge to roll his eyes.
“Thank you, Dawson,” Ezi said in the softest tone Harry had ever heard.
“Your dress,” Dawson pointed out while eyeing her and then the kitchen. “What...what happened here?”
“There was a rat,” Harry blurted.
Ezi joined in, “Harry tried to kill it then it knocked over the vase, and I fell and pulled him down with me and ripped my dress on the glass.”
Dawson furrowed his brows as he nodded at the piece of Ezi’s dress in her fist. “That’s your blood?”
Ezi shook her head. “It’s the rat’s.” Then, she looked over at Harry, suppressing a grin. He stayed quiet and glared at her.
“Oh, God. That’s disgusting,” Dawson made a face. “Need me to help you clean up?”
“No, I’ll take care of it,” Harry said. “I’ll take Ezi upstairs to clean up. Could you distract everyone for a while?”
“Yeah, sure,” Dawson nodded, gave Ezi a tight-lipped smile and turned to the door. “Now, where the hell is the cook?”
.
.
.
Harry could hear every single word of the Jonas Brothers song playing downstairs. It seemed like everyone had finished brunch without him and Ezi, and now Niall was turning the manor into a concert. Niall and Mikasa had met at a Jonas Brothers’ concert years ago, and they would not let people forget about it. What they had was cute, but Harry could not imagine being with someone for that long. A PR relationship was tiring enough; he didn’t think he could ever handle a real one.
Back against the wall, he stared at his watch and tapped his foot impatiently before he came to knock on the door to his mother’s walk-in closet. “Ezi, are you done?”
“I don’t know how to put this on!”
Harry tossed his head back and groaned. “Do you need help?”
“Yeah!”
“Goddamn it,” he muttered under his breath. “Cover yourself. I’m coming in.”
Just to be safe, he had his hand over his eyes when he opened the door.
You'll say my name like it's been on your lips
Familiar in ways I can't explain
You got a heart that I know I can miss
Hold me like that and pull me right back again
The music outside became muffled. Harry peeked through the gap between his fingers, and nearly had a heart attack when he saw Ezi standing there topless with only jeans on. “I told you to cover yourself!”
“Oh, please, there’s nothing you haven’t seen.”
“It’s different every time.”
“How? I’ve only got one body.”
“No, seeing you feels different every time. It’s weird.”
Time stands still and it's only us
What we feel started way before we ever touched
Just imagine only us
Yeah, you found me right before I'd given up
Ezi said nothing, and Harry lowered his hand, feeling glad that she was facing away from him now. She looked over her shoulder, frowning. “Help me with this shirt!”
He ruffled his hair and padded over to take the shirt from her hand. “You got the button stuck?! This is my mother’s favourite Chanel shirt!”
“It was like that when I found it.”
“Liar.” Harry shook his head and started examining the stuck button. Ezi turned around, hugging her chest so her breasts weren’t exposed to him. He was trying his best not to look. Maybe he shouldn’t have put her in a dress that didn’t require a bra. He guessed he’d played himself.
“Harry.”
“Damn, maybe I should get you another shirt and buy a new one for my mum. I don't know how to fix this.”
“Harry,” Ezi repeated and tapped Harry on the arm. He looked up, face heating when he saw her.
I just saw the lightning strike
Knew it right then when I looked in your eyes
And I said to myself, "It's no surprise we ain't strangers"
Strangers tonight
Still, he acted indifferent. “What?”
“I think we should kiss,” she said, making him flinch.
“Why?” He was already sweating through his palms. His mother’s shirt could no longer be saved now.
“To make it more convincing,” Ezi said as if them kissing wasn’t a big deal to her. “Maybe if there’s a picture of us kissing--”
“Have you ever kissed anyone before?”
She froze at the question and blinked at him.
I came here looking for another excuse
To run away from something beautiful
It's like it's driving me closer to you
Every step back pulls me right back
At this question, Ezi’s whole life up until that point flashed before her eyes. She had lost count of all the times she’d kissed sailors before drowning them. But she wasn’t going to kiss Harry to kill him. Not yet at least. He would still be there, alive, when she opened her eyes. He would still be aware of her lips against his. And she would, too.
“No,” she lied.
And he believed it. He cleared his throat. Suddenly, her standing there topless wasn’t weird anymore. “Okay, it’s pretty easy.” He put the shirt aside. His fingers were shaking so he opened and closed his fists a few times before beckoning her over. “Come here.”
She took a step forward.
“Closer.”
Another step.
Harry’s face reddened with a small smile. “Ezi, closer.”
He’d never talked to her in that tone before. It was soft and firm at the same time, and she completely forgot having sworn to herself that she would never let him tell her what to do. She came so close she could not tell his breath from her own. His eyelids fluttered, and his pink lips parted, yet no word escaped. Then, he leaned in.
Must be from a different life
Been here before and it just feels right
No, this ain't the first time for you and I, we ain't strangers
Strangers tonight
But it was her who took his face between her hands and kissed him first. He froze for a second, then started kissing her back, his arms circled around her waist, pressing her against him.
Harry’s entire body grew hot. The voice inside his head told him to stop, but it only made him bolder. He liked that she’d taken charge. Her hands were under his shirt as his roamed across her naked back. His eyes went wide when she unconsciously let out a moan.
Strangers
Strangers
Strangers tonight
“Ezi,” he breathed against her lips. But before he could say anything else, there was a knock on the door.
“Harry, are you in there?”
Ezi pulled away as Harry threw his head back and exhaled harshly. “Yes, Niall?”
“Is Ezili there with you?”
“Yes,” Harry answered in a croaked voice and quickly cleared his throat. “Yes,” he repeated, sounding more stable. “Why?”
“You missed all the fun stuff. Your mother scolded your aunt for what she’d said to you and Ezi, and Dawson had to take his mother’s home.”
Harry looked over at Ezi, expecting her to be thrilled by the good news, but she only gave a small smile, her arms still tightly wrapped around herself to cover her breasts. Was she...shy?
Yes, yes she was. Ezi didn’t think she could ever be shy. But here she stood, blushing all over from a stupid kiss.
“Are they in there?” Harry’s mother’s voice outside the door made Harry and Ezi jump.
They looked at each other, scared when Niall told Harry’s mum that they were in the closet together.
“Not in my closet, Harry!”
“I’m just helping Ezi get changed, Mum!”
“You better!”
And then their footsteps faded down the hallway, along with his mother’s laughter.
Ezi and Harry made eye contact with each other and looked away at the same time as silence ensued. Suddenly, Harry started sniffing.
“What is it?” Ezi asked, worried.
Harry leaned in and started sniffing her neck, and she pushed him away. “What the hell?!”
“You smell.”
“Excuse me?!”
“No.” Harry shook his head fast. “You smell good. But..you didn’t have a smell before.”
Ezi quickly lifted her arm to smell herself. “I smell nothing.”
“That’s because it’s your own smell, so you don't recognise it. But--” Harry cut off midsentence and picked up a strand of her hair and brought his nose to it. Then, his lips curled. “Aww, my kiss turned you a little more human.”
“Shut up!” Ezi shoved at his chest. “I’m not turning more human! That’s not true!”
“It is true! Kiss me again. I’ll prove it.”
She said nothing, only glared at him as he burst out laughing and tossed her a t-shirt.

Maybe Kids Aren’t So Bad
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x plus size!reader

Word Count: 2.3k words
Warnings: Mentions of kidnapping, torture, nightmares, and lots of fluff.
Masterlist!!
Author’s Note: I saw lots of people liked my first fanfic! Soon after I saw people liked the first one, I started writing this one. I hope you all enjoy it because I sure did. Have a great day everyone who reads this! (gif below is not mine!!)
"Does someone wanna go with me to go grocery shopping?" you asked the others in the tower as you stood behind the island. Everyone had been awake for about 15 minutes and almost all of them were eating in the kitchen. A few of them didn't hear you as you didn't say it very loudly. Tony told you he had things to do, just like him. Thor and Natasha said they had to train today and go to a mission briefing. Steve apologized and told you he had to finish and turn in the report for the mission he got back from yesterday.
Soon Bucky walked into the kitchen. He looked like he hadn't been sleeping, which you knew very well since you could hear him at night through the walls. You wanted to comfort him but you were nervous since you didn't know him all that well to begin with. He had arrived at the tower a few months ago and was very quiet with everyone except Steve.
You couldn't deny that he was an attractive man. You also had a soft spot for him since you knew what it was like to be alone and scared in some type of lab that kept you against your will. You had been abducted when you were a teen and had been taken to some type of scary lab where you were injected with chemicals. The scientist had given you powers that allowed you to control the plants around you. You could harness energy from them and control them by will.
You could understand Bucky's nightmares and feel the pain in the sound of his screams at night. You used to have those same screams and nightmares but learned to keep them from keeping you up at night. You had started meditating, talking to people, training to release all your anger, finding hobbies that distracted you, and even simple things such as writing it down to then burn the paper you wrote it on.
You watched as he sat down at one of the island chairs. Most of the avengers had already left the room by the time he sat down. You looked at him and gave him a soft smile. "Morning, Bucky. Would you like some coffee?" you asked him in a soft voice, watching his ocean blue eyes move across your form. "Yes, please…" he replied in a tired but sweet voice. You grabbed the mug he used most of the time and filled it with coffee. He watched how you got everything right about his coffee, down to how much he would naturally fill it.
He was surprised and yet amazed you paid that much attention to him. "Here you go." You handed Bucky his coffee, and he grabbed it with his right hand, gently grazing your fingers as he held the handle. He watched your eyes when your hands grazed. He thought he saw something there sparkling in your eyes but wasn't sure as you turned away to get him something to eat. You turned to grab him something to eat as well as to hide your light blush from your fingers grazing.
You took another minute to turn back around so the blush could cool from your cheeks. Handing him a protein bar, you picked up the cup of tea you had made yourself earlier. "I wanted to ask if you wanted to get out of the tower and go to the grocery store with me?" Bucky looked into your eyes as he thought about if he was up for it. He had to think not because it was you, but because he was scared of people seeing him and running. He hardly left the tower unless it was for missions or on the off chance he needed clothes to wear.
"Sure, Y/N. I think that would be good. It's a nice day out, and we can hang out together as we don't normally hang out." He spoke with a soft smile on his lips, taking another drink from his coffee. You smiled happily and nodded towards him. "Alright then! It's a date! I'll let you eat, and I have to do a few things before we go out. I'll meet you in the lobby around 12?" you asked, walking towards the end of the island, making your way to the hallway. "It's a date.' Bucky agreed and smiled back, watching you walk off.
~Time Skip~
It had been about an hour since Y/N and Bucky said they would meet up in the lobby for their 'date'. You had been nervously pacing around your room after you heard the word date fell off of Bucky's lips. You didn't know what to do or wear. Well, you had an idea of what you would wear, but would it make you weird? Finally, you decided on a cute sundress since it was sunny and warm outside. You fixed your hair, put on light makeup (or no makeup if you don't wear any), and picked out your comfy pair of vans. Looking at yourself in the mirror, you let out a sigh and thought you were trying too hard to look cute for Bucky. "Why am I dressing like we are actually going on a date?" You asked yourself aloud and towards the mirror.
You grabbed your phone and looked at the time, grabbing your small purse while walking out the door. Making your way to the elevator, Bucky stepped out of his room in a pair of comfy clothes. He was wearing a navy blue shirt with some light blue jeans. He tried to look nice like you did. He had brushed his hair back some and looked relaxed. He soon noticed you and gave you a smile, the one that usually melts you into a puddle.
"Oh hey, Doll… Wow You look so pretty…" he tells you softly as you walk up towards him. "You look pretty handsome yourself." you replied, shyly smiling as you both walked towards the elevator. "I have a list on my phone of what we need to get for everyone. I was also thinking of cooking and baking tonight for everyone." you told Bucky as you turned on your phone. "What were you planning on cooking?" he asked, pressing the button for the lobby.
"Hmm… I don't know just yet. I was thinking of making something called Beef Tripe soup. It's a famous dish in Romania, and I've always wanted to travel to Romania, or well anywhere that isn't here in the United States." You rambled a little as you rode the elevator with Bucky. "Sorry... I love to cook and bake. I grew up baking and cooking with my mom before I was kidnapped." You smiled as you reminisced about your memories with your mother. "Doll, it's ok. You can ramble to me. I enjoy hearing from you talking about food and different recipes." He then took in the last sentence that you were kidnapped. Steve had briefly mentioned you had been kidnapped but never went any further than that. "If you don't mind me asking, how were you kidnapped?" He was curious but didn't want to bring up any painful memories the kidnapping had created for you.
"Well, I was at home and working on homework for school, boring, I know." You chuckled and thought back to it. "I remember sitting at my desk and having my earbuds in. I realized it was around maybe 10 pm, and I was hungry for a small snack. So, I went downstairs with my earbuds still in my ears. As I made my way to the kitchen, I felt someone or something looking at me. I turned around to see a guy in all black. He ran towards me before I could scream for help. He knocked me out and took me to this disgusting lab, had me strapped on an old medical operating table."
Bucky listened to you, pissed beyond belief that someone kidnapped a random girl from her house. Let alone the fact that you were only a teenager when you got kidnapped, which made his blood boil. You continued, not noticing Bucky's face. "For years, he would test on me, come up with new experiments and chemicals to put into my body. Finally, one day after he said he found 'the perfect formula,' he tested it on me. After hours of being in excruciating pain, I found out that I could control plants… There was a weed growing in front of the small window he kept in his lab. It was the only window that had access to sunlight. I remember him beating me, and as I was begging him to stop, the plant grew larger as if it felt my pain and came to help me."
"It kept growing as he kept beating me into submission so he could test more chemicals on me. After what felt like an hour of beating me up, the plant managed to become this massive accumulation of weeds, flowers, leaves, and any other plant material it could find. It made its way to the man and wrapped around him, pulling him away from me. The plants started strangling him. He eventually lost consciousness and once the plant realized he was passed out, it started wilting slowly and soon died. You could say my pain was what caused the plants to save me."
Bucky was watching you in awe, though he seemed upset (at the man, never you) at your story. "Wow, Doll… I can't believe that happened to you. I'm so sorry." he told you, and you gently took his metal arm and held his hand, smiling softly up at him. "Thank you, Buck. I really appreciate it. It took some time to get over it and the pain of the nightmares, but I'm stronger than I used to be because of it." You let go of his hand when the elevator dinged to let you know you made it to the lobby.
You both walked out of the elevator and to the grocery store that was around the block. You walked in casual silence and grabbed a shopping cart once you entered the small store. Bucky helped you get everything on the list and a few ton of other things you didn't really need but was requested by the other avengers. After what felt like a long time, you and Bucky finally finished shopping and headed towards the checkout section.
As you and Bucky made your way over to the checkout section, you both heard soft gasps from behind you. You both then heard whispering that sounded like it belonged to some children. "Is that really him, Charlie?!" "It has to be Dante!!" Soon, the sound of running could be heard coming from behind you and Bucky. You looked towards Bucky to see if he heard it as well. He had. As you both turned around, you saw two young kids that looked to be around 6 or 7, running towards you both.
The two kids, Charlie and Dante, you assumed, stopped in front of you. They look up with awe on their faces at you and Bucky. "Mr. Winter Soldier??" The little boy asks Bucky with a bright smile on his face. "Uh.. yes?" he asks as he moves to stand on one knee before the little boy. "Can I have your autograph?? Please, Mr. Winter Soldier! You're my favorite superhero!!" Bucky was taken back at the boy's words. "O-oh sure!" He was excited that a young child wanted his autograph after everything he's done as the winter soldier. He grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, writing Dante a note before signing it.
Bucky handed Dante the note with a smile. Immediately after he gave Dante the signed paper, Dante gave Bucky a big hug. "Thank you so much, Mr. Winter Soldier!!" Dante told him happily and ran over to his mom. Charlie was talking with Y/N the whole time Bucky was with Dante. "Ms. Y/L/N?" She shyly asked you while tugging on your dress lightly. "Yes, hun?" you asked with a smile and moved down to her eye level. "Are you Mr. Winter Soldier's girlfriend?" You blushed dark, and your eyes widened at Charlie's words.
"Uh… well, that's a complicated sweetheart. Maybe one day." you tell Charlie, and she smiles brightly and squeals, running off to her mom and brother. Bucky, thankfully, didn't hear you tell Charlie you hoped to be his girlfriend one day. After you talked with the kids, you paid for all your groceries and walked back to the tower.
"Hey, Doll?" Bucky asked, looking at you as you walked beside each other on the street. "Yes, Bucky?" you replied, glancing at him before turning your head to look in front of you. "What did that little girl ask you? I heard her say something, but I couldn't make it out." he asked you curiously, having wondered since they left the grocery store a few minutes ago. "Oh yeah. She did ask me something.." you said softly as you kept walking, not telling him as you were scared he wouldn't like you back.
"Y/N, was it something bad? Something that made you think of past memories?" He stopped you in the middle of the sidewalk, gently grabbed your hand. "No, no, Bucky, I promise! It's just… embarrassing…" He tilted his head like a confused puppy looking at you. You took a minute before you let out a sigh. "She asked me… if I was your girlfriend." You looked away for a second before looking back at him.
"Oh... " he mumbled out softly and looked away from your gaze. You were scared that he would reject you, but you had no time to react as he said, "Well, would you like to be?" Your eyes widened, and you blinked a few times. It took you a minute to come back with a response. You soon found yourself smirking, asking him, "Why don't you take me on a date first, Barnes?" You took your hand out of his and walked into the Avengers tower, feeling confident in yourself. As you left Bucky on the sidewalk to walk into the tower, you heard an excited Barnes exclaim, "Finally!" You giggled as you continued into the tower.

obviously sova dyed his hair blond because he is a pretty boy and he leans into it because he gotdamn KNOWS how pretty he is
For sure 100%. But also that gave me an idea and it was 1am when I wrote this but uhhhhh lol. (sorry for typos/grammar mistakes :p)
Rated Teen, ~1.4k words, fluff, just a random scene, Sova/Breach (of course it is)
If Sova had to talk about his flaws, he’d talk about his trusting nature, morals, and his more serious/naïve nature when it came to wit and sarcasm.
Those were all traits that generally received praise and rarely harmed Sova unless he was in specific scenarios that had yet to have ever occurred. It did show his biggest flaws though: his pride and false modesty. Breach knew that there was way more than just that but would never actually say it to Sova’s face. At least not while he was trying to score some attention from the blond man.
And he was already getting plenty right now.
While he worked on tuning the flash component of his arms, as Brim said that he wouldn’t assign him to another mission while it was malfunctioning, Sova was stretched out on their shared bed in this sad little motel room they rented after the mission in nothing but a pair of shorts. One arm was thrown over his head, showing off the toned muscles on that side of his body facing Breach. The other arm was holding onto a book he knew Sova wasn’t reading because he hadn’t turned to a new page in a few minutes. His lovely boyfriend was putting on such a show for him by just… looking delectable.
Had Breach been a weaker man, he would’ve already called it quits on his repairs and joined him on the bed. Kisses and cuddling were tempting when Sova was that good-looking. Because he hadn’t showed any intent on slowing down though, Sova got up at some point to get dressed.
Breach would need to apologize later, but this work wasreally important though.
“I need something from the store before it closes. Do you want anything? Food? Beer?”
He leaned back and thought for a second. “Could you order dinner for us on your way back? Anything you want, I’ll pay for it. I have all the tools I need right now though.”
His eyes followed Sova’s near predatory walk over to him. He was so smug, and for no reason. Well, the reason was made apparent when he felt a hand slip under his shirt and started feeling up his abs and pecs. He readily accepted the kiss, enjoying the view of the blond hair creating a curtain around them in this moment.
But when Breach was working, he didn’t appreciate too many distractions. With one last peck, he pulled back and smiled up at Sova.
“When you get back, I’ll stop working.”
Sova smiled back at him and nodded. “I’ll be back soon then, yes?”
The trip took a ridiculously long amount of time. Breach was finished with his repairs within the first hour, took a shower and caught up with his phone notifications in the second, and even contemplated picking up the book Sova was reading. At some point, he wondered if he should send Sova a message asking if everything was alright. And while no one would dare kidnap or attack the Russian machine that was his kind boyfriend, there was no reason for the trip to take this long.
Eventually, he roamed the room that he had barely looked at since they booked it for some extended time off after a mission. As he rummaged for snacks around the small kitchenette that they both refused to touch, he found a small box of hair dye. It was obviously Sova’s because it definitely wasn’t his, but as he scoffed at the picture of the blonde woman, it did make him reconsider Sova’s appearance. From the buzzed sides and his eyebrows, Breach already knew that Sova had brown hair, but it did make him consider what he would look like with his natural hair. Just as handsome as a face, but with a darker frame falling onto his shoulders.
That clearly was the best time for Sova to return though, bag and takeout in one hand, and the other helping him take off his boots. He brought with him the smell of fresh air and snow from outside. When he felt the hand snake up his sides, Breach actually flinched. It was just all so cold. God, he hated missions this far north – and in the middle of winter!
“Were you considering doing your hair as well?” Sova teased, taking the box from Breach’s hand while placing the bag on the small counter at the same time.
Breach leaned down to chase Sova’s lips as they came close, but never actually touched. “No, I was looking for something to eat and I found this on the counter.”
He knew there were times when Sova’s patience was thin, especially when the object of his desires was standing in front of him. To be fair, Breach loved being able to force the hunter to give into his wants first by just standing there. “But you prefer this, no?”
“Enh, I don’t mind either way.”
Sova snaked his arms around his neck and gave Breach easy access to his chest and torso. Breach was hungry, hadn’t eaten since the mission ended yesterday where Sova forced a couple granola bars down his throat right as he began his repairs, but as Sova threw off his hoodie, those thoughts were fading fast. He kept his arms around Breach as Breach explored his body, now with nothing between Sova’s skin and his metal hands. Unlike Breach,
“You know that all this muscle is just for show, right?” Not that Breach minded. But really, the vanity of the man in front of him never failed to impress him. Or exasperate him.
“Yet you’ve never beaten me when we spar.” He said it with such a sneaky grin that Breach wanted to kiss it off of him, but that’s just what Sova wanted. There was no doubt that Breach would give up eventually, but just not right now.
Gods, the man in front of him just looked so good, and he knew that Sova knew this which was almost worse. “You’re such a show-off.”
“I thought I was pretty.”
And that… That made him scoff. “Where’s all that modesty gone now, hm?”
“I never called myself that. Those were your words. Don’t you remember?”
“I’ve never said that in my life.”
“’That pretty boy Sova sure looks like a hero.’ That’s what you said when you first met me.” Yes. Breach did say that once to him. But he thought that Sova had walked out of earshot. “Don’t you still agree?”
And that smug grin was getting to be too much to bear. Breach leaned in and pressed his lips to Sova’s pushing him towards the nearest wall – anything to help support him for what he wanted to do next. No, he wouldn’t talk about how gently he brushed Sova’s hair, or how much he groped his chest, his arms, his legs and butt, or even how good he looked pinned to the wall with Breach’s arms holding them up above his head while he could do nothing but softly bang his head against the wall behind him while Breach dismantled him using just his mouth.
An hour later while Breach was shovelling food into his mouth, Sova walked over to him again and just leaned against his body. From the lack of clothes to the messed-up hair, Breach could only assume that he had just woken up again.
“Do you want me to heat up your food?”
Sova hummed contentedly and nodded his head. “Thank you.”
With a sigh, he put the container down and stood up slowly. The entire time he was heating up the food, he could feel Sova watching him. It was almost unnerving except that when he turned to look at Sova, he was met with a soft smile and a loving gaze. When he returned, and handed Sova the utensil, he was surprisingly brought in for another kiss.
“You’re so needy. If you were anyone else, I’d kick you out already,” he joked.
He received a quick nip on his bottom lip and a lick afterwards.
Breach pulled away to pick up his bowl again and just looked at the man in front of him. “But you’re very handsome.”
Sova’s eyes sparkled with an eagerness he didn’t often see.
With a sigh, he continued, “And pretty. You’re so pretty that if you ask nicely enough, we can go again after dinner.”

So deeply hurt

Now that he was closer Jon could tell it was a bad day. He could see the tension in Tim’s jaw, the way he swayed ever so slightly when he stood before righting himself, the fake smile he’s plastered on.
or: Tim's having flare up so they have a movie night.
Set vaguely in S1 or S2 but Sasha doesn't get not!them-ed.
As much as Tim joked around and slacked off, he was very rarely late. Especially not almost two hours late. Jon tried to relax as much as possible but with the concerned glances from Martin and Sasha every few minutes through the window in his door and the constant ticking of the clock in his office it was getting harder by the minute. But he had to stay professional, Elias couldn’t know about their relationship. Jon wasn’t ashamed in the slightest, he just didn’t want to get them all fired. Although, that didnt mean he hadn't sent off quite a few messages to him. All of which were unanswered. He was typing another when he heard a voice curse at the top of the stairs. Trying to look as casual as possible but presumably failing miserably, Jon grabbed his cane and rushed to the bottom of the stairs.
“Tim?” Through the fluorescent lights he could barely make out Tim sitting at the top of the stairs, crutches lying next to him. “Do you need a hand?” He tried to keep the worry out of his voice. They’d all agreed that none of them would make a big deal if Jon or Tim were using their aids. He wanted to respect that as best he could since he knew how bad it felt when people would keep pointing it out.
“Ah, no need. I got this!” Jon watched as Tim slowly slid himself and his crutches down each step before using them to stand. Now that he was closer Jon could tell it was a bad day. He could see the tension in Tim’s jaw, the way he swayed ever so slightly when he stood before righting himself, the fake smile he’s plastered on.
“Well, that was one way to do that. I’m sure Martin or Sasha would’ve been able to help.”
“Na, it’s alright. This building’s just inaccessible as shit. I doubt we would’ve been able to all fit together on those weird ass stairs anyway.”
“Well since you’re here now, there’s a statement on your desk I’d like you to look into after you’ve finished compiling the research from yesterday.” Putting his professionalism on as much as he could, Jon went back to his office leaving Tim to get settled at his desk. He shot Martin a quick text to keep an eye on him and tried his best to continue with his work.
Recording a few statements helped distract him for a bit even if he knew that they were all fake. Floating lights, a ‘disappearing’ man and walkie talkie feedback that sounded like words. It wasn’t long until a knock at his door brought him back to the present. “Come in.”
“Hey,” Martin, of course. “I’m going to the breakroom to make myself a cuppa, do you want one?” Jon never understood why Martin always lowered himself when he entered a room. It was like he was trying to take up the least amount of space possible.
“Yes, thank you. I’ll come along, I need to stretch my legs anyway.” Perfect, a completely professional reason to talk to him in relative privacy. “How has he been?” Jon set his cane beside him as he sat at the breakroom table, watching Martin go through the practiced motions of making tea.
“I’m not sure, he looks a bit peaky but he seems alright.” It was days like these that Jon struggled with boundaries the four of them had set. He knows that if Tim needs help, he’ll ask for it. But he also knows how stubborn you can become when you’re in pain, how frustrating it can be, how hard it is to ask for help. “In other news, I was thinking of having a movie night at mine tonight? Tim and Sasha are down, fancy it?” Jon brought himself back, this is something he could do. Something that would help.
“That sounds lovely but why don’t we have it at mine?” Jon took the cup Martin handed him and sipped, perfect as always.
“Uh, sure.” Martin looked a bit hesitant, probably because Jon usually doesn’t offer up his flat if Martin’s already offered. They all know Jon prefers their flats to his because then he can kidnap a jumper or cardigan to feel safer once he has to leave.
“It’s just, my flat’s closer and I think it’s best for Tim and I since there’s a lift.” He wasn’t lying persay, the lift would be better for the two of them but that wasn’t the only reason. He had supplies for bad days at his house. Heat pads, painkillers, ice packs, you name it. And he knew Tim was going to need it. He’d crash soon enough, most likely when they were all finally settled at Jon’s, so he needed to be able to help once Tim let them.
“Oh right, of course. Sounds great, I’ll let them know.”
-----
It wasn’t long until Tim popped into Jon’s office, struggling with the door slightly. “I’ve got that research for you, Boss.” Jon gestured to one of the seats in front of his desk which Tim took quickly. He pulled the file from his bag once he sat down and had his hands free again.
“Tim, I- um. Is there anything i can do?” Jon tried to be as gentle as possible, not wanting to sound patronising.
“I’m not sure what you mean.” So he was still in the stubborn stage, great. “I’m all set for the last hour work wise if that’s what you’re asking.” He stood and Jon could see him hide a wince.
“Okay, I’ll let you get on then. Thank you again for the research.” All Jon got in return was a nod before Tim was out the door as fast as he could be.
-----
The journey to Jon’s flat was nice for once, mostly due to Sasha driving them all instead of having to take the tube. But even just sitting mostly in silence it was comfortable. As soon as they were in his flat he wandered off to get changed into comfier clothes, urging them all to do the same. Once they were all back in the living room he spotted Tim in a familiar jumper, specifically the one Jon was looking for as it was nice and cosy but he left it with Tim. He looked like he needed it more than he did.
Stocked up with snacks and tea, bundled up in Jon’s duvet that he’d asked Martin to bring through, movie night began. After finishing La La Land per Sasha’s request and Howl’s Moving Castle per Martin’s request they decided to order some takeout.
“Tim, do you just want your usual?” Sasha was over at the table, notepad in hand with everyone's orders but his. The only answer she got however was a groan. Jon gently moved him off of his shoulder where he had been resting his head and it was only then he felt the heat coming off Tim’s skin.
“Hey, sleepyhead. Can you wake up for a minute for me please?” Jon watched him blink slowly and he swore he had fallen in love with him all over again.
“Is he alright?” Martin moved the duvet off of their laps and knelt at the feet of Jon and Tim. “Love, you’ve got a bit, uh-” Martin's gaze fell to Jon’s shoulder and when he followed he saw what Martin was clearly holding back a laugh at. Tim had drooled over his shirt.
“Martin, can you go into the cabinet in the kitchen, grab some painkillers, water and the thermometer for me please?” Martin’s face dropped so Jon rushed to calm him. “He’s okay, I think it's just a flare up. Take a breath, Love.” Jon watched him do as asked and head over to the kitchen. “Sasha, just order him his usual as long as it’s not too spicy.”
“Gotcha, I’ll be back in a minute.” She placed a kiss on Jon’s cheek then Tim’s, frowning slightly at the heat before heading to the bedroom to order.
“So, how are you really feeling? All of it, okay?” Jon kept his voice low and soft, channeling all the times Martin had calmed him down from a nightmare, all the times Sasha had comforted when the knock on his office door sounded too familiar, all the times Tim had helped him home once everyone had left because the pain was so bad.
"I'm alright, just being a drama queen as usual." Jon watched as Tim’s eyes filled with tears.
" Tim ." It seemed that Jon had finally chipped at his stubborn exterior just enough to let Tim breathe.
“I…Awful, it just hurts and I’m so tired, I don’t-” Jon pulled him into a hug as he finally let the tears fall, running a hand up and down Tim’s back while the other cradled his head.
“It’s okay, it's okay.” They sat there, Jon whispered sweet nothings until Tim’s sobs had calmed enough that he could speak “What hurts, Love?”
“Everything but my hips hurt the worst. It’s like they’re shooting pain down the rest of my legs.” Tim pulled back slightly and Jon let him, wiping away Tim’s tears with his thumb.
“Got them Jon, but if it’s a flare up then why do we need the thermometer?” Martin’s eyes flickered over Tim’s face and Jon could tell he was holding back his mother-hen instincts. He trusted Jon and it made his chest warm to think that he trusted Jon enough to let him lead.
“I’m just hot stuff, what can I say?” The joke made them both smile, breaking some of the tension.
“Sometimes during flare ups you can get low grade fevers, I just want to make sure it’s not too high.” Jon explained as Martin kneeled back at their feet.
“Alright, okay.”
“Martin, it’s okay.” Jon reached out and took his hand, the worry practically radiating off of him.
“I know, I’ve just never been around either of you when you’ve had a flare up before and-” Jon’s eyes fell to his lap, guilt slowly seeping into his bones. He could tell Tim felt the same, squeezing his hand slightly before interrupting Martin. “You have actually, as much as I don’t want to admit it, we are relatively good at hiding them. Which isn’t necessarily a good thing.”
Martin looked to Jon and he nodded. “Right. Well, we can talk about that later.”
“Okay.” He turned to Tim. “Is it alright if i take your temperature, love?” Jon was pretty sure that he would say yes but it was still good to ask, to make sure Tim was comfortable.
“Yeah, alright.” Martin handed him the thermometer and Jon put it in his ear, waiting for the beep before taking it out again and doing it to the other ear.
“Hmm, 38.1 and 38.3. Not bad but still could be better. Let’s get some painkillers and water into you. Sasha’s ordering food just now so you’ll have that soon too.” Tim took them without issues but seemed uncomfortable when Jon mentioned dinner.
“I’m really not hungry just now.”
“Nausea or just no appetite?” Jon didn’t want to force him to eat if he felt nauseous but he needed some form of food in him if he was going to take more painkillers.
“Appetite.” Good, that’s something at least. Something he can work with.
“Why don’t you try some food and if you don’t want what we’ve ordered I’ll make you some toast?” As much as he hated that Tim was in so much pain it felt nice knowing what to do for once. Pain was something he was familiar with, something he knew so much about that it was instinct to him now.
“Alright.” Jon stood up and motioned for him to move along the couch slightly and he complied. He got them situated so Tim was lying down with his head on Jon’s chest and legs over Martin’s lap. He felt Tim curl into him and sigh contentedly. “Jon?”
“Yeah?”
“Thanks.” Jon ran his fingers through Tim’s hair, watching as his eyes started to shut again.
“Of course, love. You know I’m always here.”

Even during Summer, with the break you have from college, there's nothing good going on. Nothing but the new pool guy, Billy, the most handsome man you ever saw. You were successfully avoiding him, not wanting to act like an idiot in front of the guy until Billy accepts to be your date for a fancy gala you're forced to attend. The night was going well, even better when he sneaked you out to go to the beach. But a gang of criminals breaks into the party, kidnapping the heirs to the wealthiest families, which includes you. So, for your safety, your parents want you to stay with Billy, living in his apartment until the criminals are caught. And that could take weeks, maybe even months.

Broken
“Listen, listen...” Cupping your cheeks and drying off some tears, he looks into your eyes. “I'm all sweaty and disgusting. Let me shower and then we'll talk, alright?”
Forcing yourself to nod, you look down, suddenly ashamed of how you were clinging onto to him. “Alright.”
“Ok.” He hesitates a little before heading to the bathroom.
With both hands on your head, you pace around the living room, the image of Alice's hands burning through your mind. Why did they do that? Was it some kind of punishment for her trying to run? Or were they sending a message? Or are they just that cruel? What will happen to the others? To the last one, if the police don't find them and if the private investigators fail?
Turning the damn TV off, you messily wipe the tears away, going to the bedroom, sitting on the bed and waiting for Billy to come out. You just want him. You feel safe with him, and if this makes things weird after, you'll apologize.
This time, when the door opens, you manage to hold back, pushing back the urge to jump into his arms again. Billy looks sad, only breaking eye contact to put his shirt on. “Come here.” And that's all it takes for you to run into his embrace again, more tears taking the place of the ones you dried off, then fighting for more space. “I'm sorry.”
You can't say anything. There are no words to be said now. So you just cry, arms around his midsection as you let your heart out. It's a mix of fear and desperation. It could've been you if Billy wasn't there to sneak you out. You wish you could see Alice, but at the same time, you don't want to. Seeing her hands on the TV was bad enough. You can't even start to think about the trauma she went through. This whole thing can't be happening, it feels like a nightmare.
“Come. Lie down to rest a little.” Billy guides you to the bed, and you only move because of him. You barely feel your legs. When you lie down, and he moves to stand up, you hold his arm.
It's not the time to blush or feel nervous. Or to think about what it means. You want him, you need him here. With you. “Stay, please.” Begging, you move aside when he nods. Billy lies down on his back, facing the ceiling. You hold his arm, just so you're touching him somehow, but it's not enough. The tears keep coming, your mind keeps imagining what else those people, your friends, the people who you grew up with, are suffering right now. “B-Billy...” Your voice cracks, and you squeeze his bicep a little.
“What, princess?”
“I'm sorry...” You whisper, already moving closer to him.
Billy's eyes meet yours, a worried and confused expression on his face. “What for?”
You don't say anything, you just move closer to him, laying your head on his chest. A breath escapes your lips when you feel his arms around you, grounding, protecting you. Now more than ever, you understand what Billy did for you when he sneaked you out of the gala. It could've been you with chopped fingers, or going through something much worse.
“You make me feel safe.” You mutter, eyes closed shut. His heartbeat is calming, and slowly, your breathing starts to slow down until it's steady again. Billy has a hand around your waist and the other comes to caress your cheek every once in a while. But the most important thing is that he doesn't let go.
You're not sure how long you stay there, but the only thing keeping you from falling asleep is the pain in your stomach. You're hungry, and that's the only thing that makes you move, sitting up straight. Moving the hair away from your face, you look down at Billy. “I'm sorry for... Doing this, but I just needed to... I needed you.”
“It's alright.” He sits up too, a hand softly rubbing your arm. “Are you feeling better?”
“Not really.” You mutter, running a hand through your hair. “But I'll make us something to eat. We're both hungry and it'll distract me.”
“We can do it together, what do you think?” He asks as he stands up, offering you his hand. You take it, letting him guide you to the kitchen.
Billy keeps the small talk as you cook and then eat, even succeeding to take a few laughs from you. When you're done with the dishes, you go back to the kitchen table to share an ice cream you bought yesterday. Seated side by side, you have a little fight every time you happen to move to get some ice cream at the same time, slapping each other's hand with the spoon.
“Do you wanna talk about...” Billy speaks low, careful. But it's ok. You'll have to talk about it eventually.
“They cut off three fingers from her right hand and the index finger from the left.” Your voice is weak, and you look down at your empty spoon. “They showed it... I mean, it was covered by white bandages but... It was obvious, and there was some blood on it and I just can't understand why they'd do something like that.”
“They don't need a reason.” Billy caresses your cheek, his finger running through the line of your jaw. “I know you feel awful but I can't help but feel relieved that's not you.” His stare is intense but kind. “Even before, I'd hate to see you in her place.”
“Even before?”
“Before I knew you better. Now... It would kill me if anything happened to you.”
“I don't think I wanna go back home.” It comes out suddenly, without considering what it truly means. But it's the truth. The truth comes to a lot easier to you now that you're not constantly trying to hide what you think or feel. “I know it's mean to think about myself now but I don't think I can go back. I can't keep doing that. I can't waste the summer with those stupid events, and I can't go back into studying law, I can't...” You stand up, pacing around with both hands in your head. “I can't keep pretending those people are my friends and I can't keep pretending that person is who I am.”
“What is your plan, then?”
This makes you turn around to look at Billy again. He hasn't moved, the ice cream long was forgotten and his attention on you. “Won't you even try to make me change my mind?”
“No.” He stands up, coming closer until you're face to face with him. Billy seems sad, a deep breath leaving his chest. ”We are responsible for our happiness. That's why I left Hawkins and if you want to leave California–”
“It's not about California.” Cutting him short, you sigh. “I love California. I just want... This.” You gesture at the apartment. “Having a place that I like, that doesn't fit a hundred people. Studying something that I care about, going to the places I wanna go, making real friends.” Since Billy started taking you to some parties, you've been growing close to Stacy, Anne, and Jimmy, Billy's friends who are now becoming your friends too. You feel more comfortable with them than you ever felt with the people you grew up with.
“Well, you don't have to think about it now. When you have to make a decision, you'll know what to do.”
“Yeah... I think I will.” You should look away, but his eyes... You feel like you could sink, and drown, and die. Slowly, you stand on your toes, trying to feel if Billy will step back. You don't even know what you're doing, it's almost involuntary, you're just chasing his lips.
But instead of moving away, he meets you halfway bending down a little to connect his lips to yours. Your arms quickly embrace his neck and you end the final distance between your bodies. You don't wanna think too much. Whenever you kiss Billy, you don't wanna think about anything. You just wanna feel. And right now, more than ever, you need him, this close, the taste of his lips so addictive, making you a little mad when you need to pull away to breathe. But you don't move away, you stay there, foreheads touching. With your eyes tightly shut, you caress his cheek, fingers tracing his jawline.
He's just about to say something when the phone starts ringing, and very reluctantly, you step back, gesturing for him to answer it. When he turns his back at you, you immediately touch your lips, smiling a little. As stupid, as insane as it is, Billy is the only guy you want to kiss. He's the only one you'd ever want to kiss. “What's up?” He says. “No, I can't go today... Because I have something more important to do here. I'll go on Friday. Bye.”
You're just about to ask him what was that about when you remember he was supposed to go to the gym today. “Hey, you can go. I'll be alright.” No, you won't. But still, you don't want him to stay if he wants to be somewhere else.
“Completely out of question.” He walks to you again, reaching out his hand. “Come. Let's watch some nice movies or something.”
And so it happens. There's this random movie going on, and you try to focus on it the best you can. On the couch, Billy holds you all the time, and it doesn't take much until your head is on his shoulder. But the happenings of the day got the best of you, and soon enough you feel yourself tired, eyelids heavy with sleep, falling close.
When you open your eyes again, you're in bed, with the morning light piercing through the light fabric of the curtains. You have the blankets all around you, and for some reason, when you get up, you feel cold. Maybe it's the air-conditioning, but Billy likes this temperature, and you haven't had a problem with it until now. So you just decide to put on a cardigan instead.
It's a war against yourself not to watch the news. You want to know how's Alice, but you don't want to see another take of her mutilated hand. Or hear what the reporters are saying about it. So you basically pace around the house, doing nothing, but trying to keep busy. For some reason, you're terribly tired, exhausted even, struggling to focus on this afternoon talk show instead of changing the channel.
The gang probably already let out the next rescue. Will it be the same? No, it's probably more. Who will be the next one they'll release? How many fingers will they still have left? Will they have both arms? Or all of their teeth? The thoughts won't leave you alone, and the talk show sucks, so you stand up, moving to the window and setting your eyes on the ocean out there, the horizon on a light shade of blue as the sun sets.
The noise of the door opening makes you look over your shoulder. A wave of relief washes over you when you see Billy, and you're just about to run to him when he mutters a harsh ‘hello’, moving straight to his room. Stopping in your tracks, you try to process it. Turning the damn TV off, you brace yourself as you go back to the couch, waiting for him to come back. But it takes longer than normal, and when you finally hear the bedroom door opening, your eyes follow him when he moves to the kitchen space. And that's when you notice you're starving.
Pushing yourself up, pulling the heavier coat you have on now even closer to your body, you walk over to the table. “Billy, can you make something to eat, I'm really–”
“You've been in here all day and you couldn't even cook something?” He suddenly snaps, both hands on the sink and his back turned at you. The roughness of his voice gets you by surprise, startling you.
“I–”
“I have been out all day, working my damn ass off, and now I have to come home and make dinner too? Don't you think I might be exhausted?” Without looking at you, he opens the fridge, looking for something, but after a few seconds, he violently pushes the door shut.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Bursting out, you try not to let the tears roll down. You're overwhelmed right now, and the last thing you need is Billy freaking out for whatever reasons.
“What the hell is wrong with me?” He finally turns to face you, slamming his hands on the table. “You have no idea what it is to deal with your kind. I clean your pools, I fix and wash your fancy cars, I change the lamps from your chandeliers, and I'm not even treated nicely. I'm the staff, the working class, a freaking nobody who's only useful to put together broken things, and then I can be kicked out.”
“My kind?” Raising your voice, a humorless laugh escapes your lips. “Haven't you said something about me being the only owner who ever offered some help?”
The laughter that escapes his lips surprises you. It's mean and cruel, so unlike everything you have seen of Billy. “And how exactly would you help me? Raking leaves?”
“Yeah, I–”
“When you're skimming the pools, it's cute. You're a good soul helping the unfortunate. When I'm skimming the pools, I'm the unfortunate, who couldn't find a better job other than serving the upper class.” He's yelling, his eyes full of anger. This isn't Billy. Something happened, but right now, you don't care. You don't think it's fair to throw it on you, but maybe he's right. Maybe coming here was a mistake. “And that's exactly what I'm doing here, in my own house. Or have you forgotten what your dad said, huh? That I'll be paid after those assholes are caught so I gotta make sure all your needs are attended? So yes, I guess I'll make you something to eat. I wouldn't dream of letting you do it yourself, ma'am.”
“This good soul will be leaving your apartment tomorrow morning.” You mutter, turning on your heels and heading to the bedroom. It's his turn with the bed, but you don't care. If that's how Billy sees you, this is who you'll be. The mean, rich kid you were raised to be. You push the door closed so violently that the loud bang startles you, a hand coming to your heart. Locking yourself inside, you climb into the bed, hiding your face in the pillow.
After all this time, you can't believe that's what Billy thinks of you. After opening your heart to him, saying things you haven't even admitted to yourself before, he still sees you as one of those people. Maybe this was a huge mistake. Maybe letting Billy get so close was a mistake. Maybe kissing him... That was the worst part. You never thought you'd want that with anyone, but he came and lit up this spark in you. Now, it's over, and you're heart is broken. Tomorrow you'll either find a place or just check if Anne or Stacy can let you crash at their place for a while. But you can't stay here. Whatever you thought you and Billy could become... It's over.

Admirations!
Looking at your Izuru One-shot gave me a lot of heckling ideas to give you a request. Here is one! Could you do a one shot of Izuru x a reader who is an introverted cheerful person that loves to be around him, but when she meets Junko Enoshima, everything is completely different. I wanted reader to end up like Izuru so she can understand how he feels, so in exchange of that, she gets involved with Junko and asks her if she could interfere with her brain, just like how Izuru ended up like.
I hope this wont bother you at all. Good luck! :)) 💖
Ah yes! Thanks for the request, and no it's not bother me!
Reader want to understand izuru feelings again
Again sorry if it's ooc 🧍♂️
Summary: (y/n) who is a introvert with cheerful personally who is always at izuru sides
(y/p) = your pronouns
You're always at izuru sides, it didn't bother him, he accually like it surprisingly. You and Izuru were in a park doing nothing, you guys just sit there in a comfortable silent, with the sound of bird chirping, gentle wind flow through both of you, making Izuru hair follow the wind.
You hummed a song from a game that you played yesterday, for Izuru this atmosphere is perfect, with your humming making it even greater, and then some thoughts across your mind.
'i wonder how was izuru feels, i mean he say everything was boring, but.....' as you were going to the deepest thought, Izuru notice that your humming was slow down, he look at you, and waved his hand infront of your face, you were brought back to earth and apologies to him.
"sigh.. it's fine (y/n), it's unusual that you were in deep thoughts." Izuru look to the front, you just nervously chuckle "sorry about that hehe.. something caught my attention so" as you rubbing you nape and closed eyes smile.
"anyway! Let's go get ice cream, zuru'." You grab izuru wrists, go to an ice cream shop and buy one, when you guys walking to the shop, you were too excited, you didn't look right or left before you're crossing the street.
A car who was at the highest speed, basically it's almost hit you, but izuru grab you fast and let the car pass, you just dumbfounded of what happened, you look at Izuru "next time look right and left before you go across the street." You nervously nodding your head, and continue walking to the shop.
Time skip
You were getting distracted by your thoughts from that day, and also, you missed Izuru, it's been awhile since you last saw him, and now you're in deep thoughts not caring what's serounding.
You bummed into someone chest and falls "akh, im sorry for crash into you." You bow quickly and starts walking, you didn't care who is your bump into, you heard weird laugh from behind. You stop and look behind, you see a girl with pigtails and showing too much chest, one is a girl with short hair and freckles, and you see him.
The one you missed, the one who is gone for over a month. It's Izuru, he's back, you notice something wrong with him.
Your expression drop, slowly backing away, Izuru walked towards you, before you take off and run, Izuru grab your wrist and placing a piece of clothing to your mouth, it's making you dizzy, you found yourself in a familiar warmth, and then you're falls asleep in Izuru arms.
You wakes up, it was so cold in the room, you didn't remember what happened, trying hard to remember until you remember what happened. You sigh for the event that's going on with you, you keep asking to yourself 'why is Izuru like that?' 'what does he feels now?' 'last time i know how he feels, but now...' those thoughts remains inside your brains.
You didn't notices that the door was open, and you also didn't hear what someone said.
"hellooo??" You jumped from the sudden voice, "oh good! Now you're paying attention! Seems like you're in deep thoughts! Puhuhuhuu! I wonder what are you thinking about, hey? Tell me!" You look at the women who is speaking to you, the pigtails taking a seat besides you and leaning closer.
"h-hey, um, personal space.....?" At first she confused and then laughing like crazy, you back away, you heard a voice from infront of the door "leave (y/p) alone, junko." Junko walks to Izuru "aww come on! I only messing with (he/she)-" "it's (y/p)." "Alright! alright!, geez it's only pronouns why are you mad, okay finee, I'll leave you lovebirds alone!" Junko slowly closing the door, before she actually close the door she said "don't forget to use condom!" And close the door.
You were staring at Izuru, he look away from you, walked besides you and take a seat. The awkward silent slowly taking over, no one is talking "look, im sorry for leaving you.." Izuru sliced the awkward atmosphere, "it's okay, really, i just never expecting this." Izuru hummed.
"hey, izuru..." He didn't know why he's hearts sting's a little, "yes (y/n)?" He look at you with dull ruby orbs, "how do you feels." "Huh? What do.. you mean..?" Izuru confused by you "i mean, when were together, i.. i know how you feels..." You grab your uniform cardigan, your eyes became glossy.
"(y/n)...", bitting your bottom lips and start to sobbing, Izuru petting you head as a comfort and pull you closer, "im sorry..". after a few minutes, you start to calm down, you wipe the tears from your face, "im gonna calm down myself.... Can you-" "right, you want me to leave, okay. Take your time.." Izuru getting up from the seat and start walking to the door.
As soon the door was closed, you decided to take asleep 'its nice if i sleep for...eve...r...' your slowly closing your eyes and sleep.
It's been 3 day's since those three kidnapped you, you still couldn't figure it out about Izuru feelings, when they released you from that cold room, you talked to junko, you didn't stupid, it's obvious that she do something about Izuru.
"hey junko." "Hm?? Oh, heeyyy (yyy/nnn), what's up??? Oh! You want to know what happened to Kamukura-senpai?" Junko move closer to you "yes. What did you do to him." "Aww come on! I'm just messing with his brain!" You were completely shock, how can someone do such a thing?
"hmm... You may wonder how i do that! Its simple!" You look at junko intensely "despair that's all." Junko turn around and walk away.
You just standing in there feels completely hopeless.
That's night, you couldn't even sleep. Junko make an offer if she could mess with your brain, you didn't answer because izuru cover your mouth and drag you away.
You were ready to answer the offer, cause it's night you wete expecting Izuru was asleep, and he is. you making your way outside and go to the rooftop and see junko by herself, it's strange that mukuro isn't with her.
"finally got an answer?" She look at you, you sigh, "yes....." "Puhuhuhuu! Finally! It's been a week, i keep waiting for an answer!" You sit besides her and look down to the street, it was blury, "sooo, what's your answer??" Once again invading your personal space.
"sigh, I'll take the offer..." Junko wide her smile, "oki doki! Let me mess with your braiiinnn, aaahhh~! I can't wait you become one of us~" she hugging herself, "come on let's go! Before Kamukura wakes up." She drag you to strange room, there was a tv, a single tv and a chair.
"come sit on the chair! Im gonna turn on the video~ puhuhuhu! I can't waiiittt" as you listening her rambling about despair back and forward, and taking a sit, the sit was uncomfortable, it was a chain on it.
you wait until she finish preparing the video, "oh, i forgot to lock the door, be right back." She walk to the door and lock it, "alright! Are you readdyyy~?" She purred into your ears "i take that as a yes!"
"hmm, i think that you will go brutal, im gonna used the chain" junko chained your both arms and legs. She walk behind the tv and start playing the video, you look at the tv and start to feel dizzy.
You didn't know what's going on, and suddenly your sight become completely black. After a few hours, you start to waking up, you feels... Oddly fine? You didn't know what feelings is this.
You look at the person standing infront of you, it was Izuru, he didn't look happy. You realize that you can feels his emotions, previously you can't tell what's his emotions are, but now, you finally understand how he feels.
"your so dumb... Why would you do that." You didn't answer yet, at least for now. You getting up from the chair and walk out with him, both of you greeted by junko and mukuro, junko look really happy, mukuro is the same like always.
"welllccoommee (y/n)! To the despairrr~! Im glad that you were joining!!" You just nodded "hmm~ come on! We got a jobs to do~"
At the end, you finally understand what Izuru feels, it's good that you take the offer, but izuru didn't happy with it. As day passing by, Izuru finally accepting it, that spend the rest of his time with you.

Sweet Pea//i wish it wasn't so damn hard to leave
Request: Hi! Big fan of your work! Would you be able to write a Serpent fic based off of the Senorita video? I’m obsessed with it
hey! I hope you like this!!! and i’m sorry its so late. but hey, its hopefully a nice surprise! have a great day!!
The hot summer air hits you as soon as you walk through the out the front doors of Pop’s. You sigh and rearrange the bag on your shoulder, silently dreading the long walk home.
You moved to Riverdale three weeks ago, and they’ve been the weirdest three weeks of your life. They’ve also been the hardest three weeks of you life. Moving to a small town is like trying to infiltrate Area 51, and not in the fun way.
Everybody knows each other, everybody talks and everybody gossips. Plus to make matters worse, you’re still not entirely sure where everything is.
Street names change, certain houses end up being some place other than you thought they were, and old buildings make weird noises in the night...old buildings that you have to walk past after your shift. Based on the stories you’ve heard though, you wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
A few good things have come out of moving here though. You’re finally able to live alone, the rent here is surprisingly cheap (being the murder town and all), although the more you think of it the more you think it might not be a good idea to live by yourself. You’ve made a ton of new friends, one of which gave you a job in her diner (go veronica!). And lastly and most recently, you met him.
Sweet Pea
Even the thought of him makes you smile.
You’d met him last night at Veronica’s club (it’s crazy how many business’ under 20 year olds can own here) last night. She had invited you to come out and celebrate making it to three weeks, and you’d very happily accepted, needing an excuse to get dressed up and get out. It felt like you’d done nothing but live in either your waitressing uniform or your pajama’s for three weeks straight and so it was nice to feel normal.
Once you’d got there, Veronica introduced you to a few people you had yet to meet, before you all started drinking. Betty had gone to the bar to get drinks for everyone, when you felt a tap on your shoulder. You’d turned around, expecting her to be stood with a tray full of drinks balanced in her hands, but instead you were met with a chest, taking you very much by surprise.
Your eyes travelled upwards, fighting against the darkness of the club until you met his gaze. He was already look at you, his lips parted and eyes hooded and a small gasp left your lips.
All night, the two of you had been stealing small glances at each other. He was sat with who you assumed were his friends, a couple of them playing guitar despite the loud music playing through the speakers while the rest talked.
As soon as you saw him you felt your pulse quicken and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
And so when he was stood in front of you, you felt all of those things and more. A small shiver ran up your spine as he held his hand out towards you. No words were exchanged, he just stood and waited. You quickly glanced at your friends, all of which were smiling knowingly at you, before you carefully placed your hand in his.
He pulled you into him, your back against his chest and the motion made you breathless. Your faces inches apart, the faintest hint of alcohol on his breath that made you feel dizzy. You swayed together, completely caught up in the moment before he twirled you back out. The bass from the song playing and the heavy beating of your heart swirled together until you could feel both of them pounding in your chest.
Pulling you back towards him, your hands lay flat against his chest while he held you close, the two of you getting lost in your own world. The rest of the club fell away behind you, it was just you and him and the slow beat of the music.
But then you started to panic.
Not because of who he was.
You knew he was a serpent, heard the stories from your friends about the war between the Northside and Southside. But maybe it should have been. The leather jacket with the gang sign proudly stitched onto the back, the fading bruise framing his eye and the spilt lip should have all been warning signs.
But the thing that made you panic was yourself. You don’t even know why you felt it.
You’d been waiting all night for him to talk to you, but now that it what happening you felt the anxiety rise in your chest, and before you knew it you were running out of the front doors of Pop’s and into the warm summer night.
You’d been quietly hating yourself ever since that night.
You didn’t even know his name until Veronica had teased you about the interaction the next day at work. However when she saw how upset you were about it, she’d told you not to worry and that she was sure he’d come back and you’d get another chance.
You didn’t believe her, not at all. Nobody in their right mind would come back for a girl who ran away from them.
But the universe is full of surprises.
And so is he apparently.
“Are you stalking me?” You stop in the middle of the parking lot, your eyebrows raised as you wait for a response.
Your question hangs in the air for a few seconds, and you worry that you were just seeing things. That the person you thought you saw stood outside was just in your imagination, that you were just seeing what you wanted to.
But then you hear the crunch of gravel followed by quick footsteps and you thank the universe for the second chance.
“Wha-no. Why would you think that?” He stutters, shoving his hands in his pockets. You turn around to face him and a shy smile takes over your features as you make eye contact with him.
“Because you’re loitering outside the place I work.” You shrug. “And Veronica told me that she say you hanging around inside for a few hours.”
“Okay, that I am doing. But I’m not stalking you.” He says, a bashful smile twitching at the corners of his lips.
“So what are you doing then?”
“I just wanted to know why you ran away yesterday.” He replies and your face falls. You gaze drops to the dusty ground beneath you and you kick a few stones around to try and distract yourself. “Sorry.” He mumbles. “I was just worried if it was something I did.”
“What, no.” You reply and look at him quickly.
He looks sad and a frown takes over your face at the sight.
“Are you sure. Because I’m sorry if I did do something. The last thing I wanted you to do was run away.”
“I didn’t run.” You mumble and he raises an eyebrow at you. “It was more of a quick walk.”
“Okay.” He chuckles. “Why did you quickly walk away from me then?”
“I needed to pee.” You shrug, not even trying to make your lie believable.
“You pee outside?”
“...yes.” You say, deciding to stick by what you said.
“Okayyy.” He replies, not really sure of what to say and you mentally curse yourself. “You’re cute you know, even if you do go to the bathroom in weird places.”
“Thanks.” You giggle, and brush a piece of hair out of your face.
“Would you like to go for a ride?”
“Excuse me?” You blink and his eyes widen.
“Not like that, I meant, I-er. I have a bike.” He says, pointing to the black bike parked right in the corner of the parking lot. “Would you like to go for a ride.”
“Should I really be going off with a stranger thats been stalking me?” You ask.
“I wasn’t stalking you.” He rolls his eyes. “Plus, everybody knows it’s almost impossible to kidnap someone with a motorbike. There’s no boot and it’s very easy to jump off a moving bike. I wouldn’t recommend it though.” He rambles making you laugh.
He looks away embarrassed once he’s finished talking, but it makes your chest feel fuzzy and warm and you desperately want him to continue talking, even if it is about kidnapping.
“Okay.” You agree and he looks at you surprised. “Where are we going?”
“I dunno.” He shrugs, the two of you falling into step with each other as you make the short walk to his bike. “Where do you want to do?”
“I honestly don’t know. Where are the best places in Riverdale?”
“Greendale.” He replies making you snort.
The sound makes your cheeks heat up and you quickly look away, but you feel him smiling at you making you relax a little.
“You’re new here right?” He asks and you nod. “Why don’t I give you a tour of the town. Hopefully I can make it seem exciting.”
“I’m sure you will.” You reply and put the helmet he’s given you on. He reaches over and helps you fasten it, tapping your head a few times once he’s finished and the two of you look away awkwardly.
“...sorry.” He mumbles. “Can we forget I did that?”
“Of course.”
“Can we forget that I ran away?”
“I thought you quickly walked.” He replies making you huff.
“Shut up.” You mumble. “Can we?”
“Yeah.” He nods. “Now get on. The sun’s gonna come up soon if you keep standing there.”
What started as bike ride around the town, ended in the two of you getting a hotel room together and not leaving until early afternoon.
You lean against the wardrobe doors, memories of the previous nights and the moments leading up to it flicker in your mind.
The wind in your hair as you drove around the sleepy streets, the feeling of your arms around his chest when he sped up. Dancing in small bit of sand by Sweetwater River and promising yourself never to run away from him ever again. To be honest, you don’t even think you could.
He’s staring at you through hooded eyes, his lips swollen and red and you feel your knees buckle. Slowly you make your towards him and he wraps his arms around you, pulling you tight to him. He flips you around as you fall, your back landing on the soft bedding and you wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him towards you and kissing him deeply.
You can feel yourself falling for him with each kiss. The feeling of his hands running through your hair, how his fingers graze your skin lightly and the softness of his kisses.
You’re hooked and there’s no turning back.
You didn’t even know Riverdale had motels. But they do, and they’re the definition of Riverdale. They look inviting from the outside but once you step through the doors, they’re dim and dingy. The only plus point are the people inside, and you’re very happy to be locked in with Sweet Pea.
You spend practically the whole day tangled up in bed sheets, and before you know it, it’s time for your late shift at Pop’s.
So with a heavy heart and a promise of spending another night together, you part ways.
“Thanks for dropping me off.” You smile and smooth your hair down.
You didn’t have time to go back home to change, and so suddenly you feel self conscious, your uniform has the same grease stain on it from your last shift and you know for a fact Veronica is going to notice and not let it go.
“No worries.” He laughs. “You look great.” He catches your hands, stopping you from messing with your hair again and presses light kisses to them.
“You’re a terrible liar.” You roll your eyes, letting him tug you forward. “Will you be stalking me again?” You wonder, a soft smile tugging at your lips and he rolls his eyes at you playfully.
“Maybe.” He shrugs and leans down, capturing your lips in a kiss that makes your heart race.
“I’ll hold you to that.”
“I really hope you do.” He whispers, his lips grazing your ear and a shiver travels down your spine.
----
“Maybe, my ass!” You huff, throwing your hands up in frustration.
It’s been a week since you saw him, and he’s definitely been avoiding you.
“It’s only been a week.” Veronica asks.
The two of you are on the late shift tonight, along with a few other servers and Veronica made sure your break was together so you could hang out, although now, you’re pretty sure she’s regretting that because it’s been ten minutes and the only thing you’ve talked about is him.
“But nobodies seen him. Not you, not his friends, not anybody. And the other day I heard Toni and Fangs talking about his skipping town. They were trying to figure out why he’d done it.”
“Oh.”
“You know, there’s a reason we didn’t go back to his place. It’s so I didn’t find out his address so I couldn’t hunt him down. That bastard.” You curse, and flop back in the seat.
“You never know.” She says, placing a comforting hand on your leg. “He might surprise you.”
“I very much doubt it.” You sigh. “Why are all men the same. They get they want and then as soon as they do they go.”
“I dunno.”
“Or maybe he isn’t avoiding me.”
“What?”
“Maybe he’s hurt somewhere. He does go really fast on that bike. Oh, god. I’ve called a dead man a bastard. I’m the worst. Why did you let me do that?”
“Wha- You know what, never mind.” She shakes her head. “He’s not dead Y/n. And I’m sure he’s got a good reason for doing whatever he’s doing.”
“Like?” You sigh and look at her.
“I dunno.” She shrugs. “Why don’t you ask him yourself.” She says and nods behind you.
You frown and follow her gaze, before your eyes meet his.
“I’ll leave you guys to it.” She says and stands up, quickly making her way back into the diner.
“Hi.” He’s the first to talk as he cautiously sits beside you.
“Hey.” You reply, not bothering to look at him.
It’s silent for a while.
There’s quiet chatter from the diner that travels through the air, but apart from that its just an awkward silence.
“Sorry I ran away.” He breaks it, daring a glance at you. “I guess it’s something we’re both quite good at.” He adds, and you send him a look.
“I don’t run. I quickly walk.” You remind him and he lets out a shaky laugh. “I am glad you’re back though.” You add.
“Do you wanna go for a ride? And I’ll explain everything at the hotel.”
“I’m at work.” You laugh and he frowns. “And I’m definitely not that easy.”
“You were the other night.” He mumbles and you let out an offended gasp, slapping his arm lightly.
“Ass.” You huff and cross your arms over your chest.
“Y/n? I hate to be this person, but I kinda need you in here.” Veronica interrupts, sending you an apologetic smile.
“Sorry.” You shrug, smiling sadly at Sweet Pea.
“Don’t worry.” He smiles, shifting against on the wooden seat. “I’ll wait for you.”

Crossfire II (Biker!Bucky x Reader x Steve)
Warnings: eventual NON-CON, slight sexual violence (choking), eventual kidnapping
PLEASE DNI IF ANY OF THIS OFFENDS YOU
summary: You and your new husband Steve move back to his hometown. It is here that his past catches up with him, and you both pay the price.
~
“Steve!” you called as soon as you stepped in the house.
He didn’t answer, and you hummed as you shut the door behind you. You could hear his voice coming from the living room though, low and hushed. You rounded the corner just in time to see him hang up the phone, blue eyes landing on you. You threw him a smile, to which he nervously returned.
“Hey. Work stuff?” you guessed.
He nodded, running his hand through his hair.
“Yeah,” he answered, giving you a quick peck on the cheek as you approached him.
“So, the day sort of slipped away from me before I knew it, but don’t worry about food. I got us takeout,” you giddily said as he walked you into the kitchen.
He was unusually quiet as you set the bag down on the counter, prepared to start setting the food out.
“You went to the diner?”
“Yeah! The girl who works there, Wanda, is the sweetest. She threw in some extra fries for free. I know they’re your favorite,” you added, throwing a smirk over your shoulder.
You paused, taking in his unreadable expression, arms crossed over his chest. His jaw was tense, and you watched his cheek poke out as he stuck his tongue in it, a habit he picked up when he was frustrated…or angry. You slowly turned around, approaching him with an inquiring look.
“Steve, what’s wrong?”
He heaved a sigh when you took his hand, gently rubbing the fingers of your other hand over his skin. His eyes were hard as he held your gaze.
“You see anybody at the diner?”
You blinked, remembering the whole ordeal with…Bucky.
“Yes, actually. Your friend Bucky said…”
You trailed off when he ripped himself away from you, pacing the kitchen with his hands on his hips in that sexy way you normally liked.
“…hello,” you lamely finished.
He didn’t respond, and you noticed his shoulders heaving.
“Steve?”
He turned to face you, face reddening a bit as he stared you down.
“If you see him again…if he approaches you, at all…you call me,” he demanded.
“Woah, woah. Steve, what-? What are you talking about?”
You approached him, and he gripped the tops of your arms, and you winced at the tight hold. His blue eyes were serious, and you swallowed at this never before seen side of him.
“I thought he was your friend…”
“He is not my friend,” he spat. “None of them are…”
Your eyes widened at his confession, fear seizing your heart as you remembered how close Bucky had been to you today. His strange behavior… You always liked to give people the benefit of the doubt. Maybe in Bucky’s mind, they were still friends. Maybe the bad blood was only on Steve’s end. Either way, you hated seeing Steve like this and would respect his wishes.
“Okay,” you relented. “Alright. If he approaches me again, I’ll call you.”
That seemed to relax him for a bit, and his face softened, loosening his hold on you. You threw him a small smile as he gently rubbed your arms.
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright. I just… I wish that you had been honest with me from the beginning,” you whispered.
He forced a smile, nodding at you.
“You’re right. I just thought that I could ignore my past when I came back here. The last thing I want is for you to get involved in any way. Bucky shouldn’t have approached you, at all.”
He briefly kissed you before pulling away, walking towards the counter. You watched him as he finished taking out the food, and you suddenly wondered what his past entailed. You wondered what had happened to bring out that sort of reaction in him. You didn’t want to pry and trusted that he would tell you in his own time.
However, as you watched him set the table, you wondered how he knew that you’d ran into Bucky at all.
~
You spent the next day at home. It was the middle of summer, and you were grateful you’d have time to get your house in order before school started. Steve had left early for work. He’d bought a local business in town and was in the process of taking over. You smiled fondly as you remembered the way he’d fucked you against your silk sheets this morning before he’d left with a lingering kiss on your cheek.
You were glad that he seemed to be feeling better, but a frown fell over your face when you recalled his uncharacteristic behavior yesterday. Sure, Steve got mad sometimes, but you had never seen him like that before. His eyes had been wild, and he almost looked as if he had been restraining himself. From doing what? You didn’t know.
You were pulled from your thoughts by a knock on the door, and confusion filled you. You slowly stood before realization hit you, and you chuckled. Back in New York, Steve had the most awful habit of forgetting his house keys, and it seemed like he had yet to kick it. You pulled the door open with a grin.
“Steve, when are you…?”
Your words died in your throat as you came face to face with someone who was most definitely not Steve. Your heart felt like it was going to jump out of your chest as your eyes connected with familiar blue ones. They were so much like Steve’s, except they weren’t. They were colder and hid his intentions well.
Bucky was dressed similarly to how you saw him yesterday. Only today, he had forgone the leather jacket, muscular arms on display as the dark tee hugged his frame. There was a faint smirk on his lips, and you went to shut the door, but he threw his hand out, stopping you.
“Let’s not be rude,” he teased, pushing back.
You grunted as you stumbled back, but you blocked the doorway as you glared at him.
“Steve doesn’t want you around. Besides, he’s not even here…”
His smirk grew, and you gasped as he pushed his way past you with ease.
“Oh, I know…”
You reached out to grab him, determined to pull him back outside when his hand shot out and gripped your wrist. You winced as he squeezed, and dread filled you when he used his other hand to reach back and close the door. He let you go, and you stumbled away from him.
You glanced around for your phone, but unfortunately, you both spotted it on the coffee table at the same time. He grabbed it before you did, and he held it out of your reach.
“Relax, doll. I just want to talk,” he said, making himself comfortable on your couch.
You crossed your arms over your chest, fear gripping you. You were alone in your house with this strange man. A strange man who happened to be a former friend of Steve’s who Steve did not want around. Clearly, there was a reason for that, and you didn’t want to find out what it was.
“I told you already that Steve isn’t here…”
He chuckled, pocketing your cell phone, eyes trained on you.
“I’m here to speak with you.”
You blanched, taking a step back.
“Me? What could you possibly have to talk about with me?”
He ran his hand through his hair, using the other to gesture to the couch beside you.
“Sit,” he ordered.
You glanced at the door then him and back again. His chuckle forced you to look at him only to find him grinning at you.
“You won’t get far, and I’d hate to have to restrain you. I can only imagine what that would look like if poor Stevie walked in…”
You clenched your jaw, eyes watering a bit. He gestured to the couch again.
“Really, I’m just here to talk to you,” he reassured.
Reluctantly, you lowered yourself onto the other couch, hands in your lap. He studied you, running his eyes over you as his smile slowly curved into a smirk.
“You seem like such a nice girl,” he noted, voice low. “How’d you meet Steve?”
You figured there was no harm in humoring him.
“We ran into each other while I was on the way to a doctor’s appointment,” you responded.
He hummed, glancing around the house.
“How long you two been together?”
“Almost two years,” you quickly answered. “Look, I don’t know what you want from me-.”
“Steve took something of mine many years ago…and I want it back,” he interrupted.
You frowned, tilting your head at him. He rested his eyes on yours, that smirk still in place as he spread his arms over the back of the couch.
“…and you, being the sweetheart that I know you are, will convince him to return it to me.”
“I really think that this is something you should talk to Steve about. I have no idea what you’re talking about, and I’ve never been able to make Steve do anything he didn’t want to do.”
You stood, and he stood with you, eyeing you.
“Steve doesn’t want you around-.”
“You always do what he says?”
Anger filled you, and you glared at him. He only stared at you in amusement.
“No. We’re married, and that’s what marriage is about. Its give and take. Compromise. I have no problem respecting his wishes because I don’t know you. I have no reason to want you around.”
He walked towards you, eyes traveling over your frame.
“Not yet,” he murmured.
You huffed, backing away.
“I’ve been polite. More than you deserve. Give me my phone back and leave,” you demanded.
“I’ve said what I needed to say. Talk to Steve…and maybe I won’t have to talk to you again,” he said, making his way towards the door.
When he opened it, you both were met with the sight of none other than Steve, hand poised to open the door. His face was already contorted in anger before the door even fully opened, and you knew that he must have recognized the bike outside.
“Steve,” Bucky greeted. “Long time no see. I love what you’ve done with the place…”
Steve’s eyes met your wide ones, and his jaw ticked.
“Y/N, stay inside. Bucky…a word?”
You watched as the door closed behind them, apprehension filling you. You made your way to the window, peaking out of the blinds to see them having a heated discussion. You swallowed and backed away, making your way to the kitchen as you chose to distract yourself.
Confusion filled you as you wiped down the already pristine countertop. You didn’t understand anything. Steve didn’t seem like the type to take anything from anyone, but then again, he’d told you himself that he was a much different guy back then. You figured whatever he took must have been important, otherwise why would Bucky behave in such a way? Why would anyone behave in such a way?
You bit your lip as you heard the door open, the familiar rumble of a motorcycle engine starting up a moment later. Steve’s steps were heavy, and you turned to face him as he made his way into the kitchen. You noticed your phone in his hand, and you approached him, sighing in relief. He held a hand out, and you slowed, eyeing him with worry.
“What was he doing in here?” he asked through clenched teeth.
You frowned.
“Steve…he just… He just came in. I thought it was you, I thought you’d forgotten your keys…”
He huffed, slamming your cellphone onto the counter.
“I tried to call you, but he took my phone,” you whispered.
He closed his eyes, and there was that expression again. He looked like he was restraining himself, forcing himself to calm down. When he opened his eyes, his expression was softer. He reached out to you, brushing his fingers over your cheek.
“Y/N…do you see what I mean, now? He is…dangerous,” he confessed. “They all are.”
You nodded, closing your eyes as he pressed his lips to yours.
“You could have been hurt. You don’t know what he’s capable of,” he murmured into your mouth.
You slowly pulled away, glancing away with a sigh.
“What is it?”
“Steve…did you take something of his?” you asked, looking at him.
His lips flattened, and he stared you down.
“What?”
You licked your lips, hand resting on his arm.
“He said that you took something from him and that he wants it back…,” you trailed off when he pulled away from you.
He turned around with a huff.
“Steve, whatever it is… I think he’s going to keep coming around, so I think that you should-.”
“I can’t just give it back, Y/N. It isn’t that simple,” he sighed, turning back around.
You eyed him, and he looked at you with soft apologetic eyes. He pulled you into his arms, burying his face in your neck.
“Don’t worry about it, Y/N. This isn’t your problem, and I promise, he’ll never come here again. You must have been terrified…”
You wrapped your own arms around him, closing your eyes.
“I don’t want you to ever feel unsafe in your own home again. I’ll take care of this. I promise.”
~
It was clear that Bucky’s impromptu visit and the things he’d said had really gotten to Steve. Clearly Steve was being reminded of his past, and whatever it entailed, he didn’t like it. He was tense…angry…frustrated. And it showed.
You gasped when his fingers dug into your neck, the sound of slapping skin the only noise in the quiet room. His face was taught with tension, teeth bared as he slammed into you, and the bed knocked into the wall under the weight of his thrusts. You felt the slightest discomfort at his harsh pace, but not enough to worry you.
Steve was stressed. When he planned to move back to his hometown, he probably hadn’t expected all of this. He’d expected to come here to settle down into a nice peaceful life. His past slapping him in the face at every turn so far was probably really getting under his skin.
You reached up to grip his arm when his hold tightened, and you let out a strangled moan. You could hardly breathe, but the way his unrelenting cock slid inside of you had your toes curling. His entire body was slick with sweat, and you couldn’t remember how long he’d been hovering over you, rolling his hips against yours again and again.
You only knew that he’d snuck up on you in the shower. You had welcomed him with open arms and a smile. You had thought that was it, but when he proceeded to carry you out of the shower, you figured tonight would be one of those nights that never ended. However, you hadn’t been expecting this. You dug your nails into his arm, eyes watering just a bit.
Your sex life was far from what some would call vanilla, but this was crossing into uncharted territory. Your other hand gripped his hip, digging your nails into the skin. He leaned down to rest his forehead on the pillow, the sound of his harsh breathing filling your ears.
“S-Steve,” you gasped, lips parted in fear.
You couldn’t breathe, and Steve wasn’t paying attention, too focused on bringing both you and himself over the edge. His other hand wrapped around yours, pulling it away from his waist and pinning it to the bed. You cried out, nails dragging along his arm now, and you just knew you drew blood.
“Steve, Steve,” you forced out, barely audible.
Something in you snapped, and you clenched around him, milking him as he came inside of you with a loud moan, grip unrelenting. You blinked and darkness filled your vision. When you opened your eyes again, you were in Steve’s arms, his worried face staring down at you.
“Y/N? Can you hear me?”
You groaned, and he sighed in relief, blue eyes wide with worry as he cupped your face. He was leaning against the headboard, and he briefly threw his head back before adjusting you better in his arms.
“I’m so sorry. God, I’m so sorry,” he whispered, peppering kisses all over your face.
Your breathing was labored, and despite the severity of the situation, you tried to reassure him.
“It’s okay. Steve, you’re…you’re stressed. Things were crazy today, it’s okay-.”
“No, no, it’s not okay. Fuck, I’m so sorry. I just… My mind was somewhere else,” he panted.
Steve never cursed. Maybe once in a blue moon, but he always said he hated that kind of talk. You reached up, brushing a blond strand away from his forehead. His eyes were troubled as he stared down at you, and you sent him a strained smile.
“Steve…I’m fine. I promise.”
“I could have killed you,” he breathed, leaning over to rest his forehead against yours.
“Steve, I’m okay. We’re okay,” you murmured, reassuring him.
Something in you couldn’t help but wonder though. Were you okay?

amalfi again

honeymoon masterlist
word count: 3500
music: give me novacaine by green day
warnings: kai is being cold-blooded (duh)
“What’s the worst thing that can happen here?” you asked. You were pushing the shopping cart with Kai in it. It was called Grab Racing: you were supposed to push him as fast as you could, and he could only have whatever he managed to grab on the way, and then cook whatever he can out of the food he picked. After several dinners consisting of gummy cakes with mashed gummies and gummy based lemonade you changed the rules slightly, including some necessary healthy ingridients. You picked them yourself. If your prison world diet depended on Kai wholly, you’d soon get ulcer, even though your stomach couldn’t hurt because it reset back to normal every time after midnight.
He tried to reach for the shelf, but you passed it by already. Should’ve been quicker. You heard creaking and shuffling behind your back.
“Hey! No magic!” you stopped the cart.
“Stop wasting it”.
While at the stop, Kai nicked a pack of crisps from a shelf.
“Italian supermarkets are weird as hell”, you complained. “I wanna leave”.
“I thought you liked the sea air”, Kai argued.
“There are many other places with sea. What’s your favorite one?”
Kai paused, thinking. You both had to listen to ‘94 Italian supermarket music for a while. Supermarkets were by far the eeriest places on this abandoned Earth. Perhaps it was about the time you personally grew up with; they have been commercialized; they have been shown as places raided by zombies and aliens in the movies you watched as a child; they were lit in a specific way and had that special kind of symmetria, a calming system to them. Supermarkets, artificial, plastic and glass, were the manmade labirynths created for confusion and gluttony. The amount of twists and turns you had to do to find whatever you needed, the fact that you got lost every time no matter how many times you visited one and the same supermarket, the long aisles with colorful packages distracting a person from the realization the line they walk on represents their life and death... at first, it’s baby stuff: baby food, mashed fruits and stuff, baby clothes... then there’s cereal, milk and candy; then, all kinds of bathroom things, pads, shampoos, tooth brushes... followed by thick bars of chocolate, greying slowly and invisibly underneath the paper packaging... then, vegetables and fresh fruit, and finally, shovels. It’s hard to decipher it. It’s a wonderful experience, to visit a supermarket, even in a normal world. Here, they turned into absolutely magical, meaningful, empty witch spaces. You always expected something to happen at the supermarket.
Kai had no idea about how deep you thought about it.
“I don’t like water”, he said finally.
“How come? Afraid?”
“I’m not afraid of anything”, he said proudly. You gazed down at his stubborn dark hair, his head and shoulders in jean jacket. Kai loved his jean jackets. While all you did was hunted down crop tops and long earrings in here, he started possessing quite an impressive jean jacket collection.
“That’s not true”, you murmured.
“What am I afraid of?” he asked. He sat with his knees close to his chest, the tips of his bacon Converses against the cage of the cart. Together with all the goods he already picked, the whole carriage was quite heavy. Every time you carried something heavy, or pushed him around, or climbed a hill, you thought bitterly that it’s no use. You don’t do anything to your body. Tomorrow, which is going to be today, your muscles will be completely oblivious of all the hard work you did.
The only thing you could train here was your mind.
“You’re scared I’ll leave you“.
“You’re mortified of this place”, he said with certainty. “That one time you thought I left? When I fell into the ditch?”
You recalled it like it was yesterday. This was a big joke now, you laughed at it a lot. Whenever you didn’t feel like doing something you’d say, I’ll do it tomorrow, and laugh like two complete assholes, in the middle of an empty street, which was either spectacurlarly hilarious, or tragic.
That one time you thought Kai left was when he literally fell into a ditch on one of the twisted, narrow Pisa streets. The ditch was more like an underground tunnel open on the top, deep and dark. You were walking down parallel streets, searching for a nice coffee shop. Apparently, he started climbing a stone wall, desiring to look inside a window. Maybe back in the medieval times, they have dug that very ditch specifically with the thought in mind, that some voyeuristic idiot will want to peek inside someone’s house. Centuries have passed, and Malachai no middle name Parker has tried climbing the stone wall, fell and broke his neck without making a sound. He was lying on the bottom of the ditch until dark while you ran down the streets calling him all the names you could think of, as your mind ran even faster. Has he been kidnapped? By whom? Aliens? Werewolves? Witches? Italian ghosts? Consumed by the ground? Has he left? Why would he do that to you? Was it a prank? Was he watching you and laughing? As he resurrected and crawled out back onto the street, you sat on the same street catatonically, your head in your hands, numb with horror. That was the day when you realized, this world was only tolerable if he was near you.
“You are so stupid”, you hissed through your teeth. You wanted to tell him how stupid he was, with his stupid white smile, and his monkey limbs that called him to crawl and climb everything, his stupid black hair and river grey eyes, and his stupid white neck with two birthmarks, soft like drops of chocolate. And his stupid... everything, he was so stupid sometimes you wanted to kill him yourself.
“You dig me so much”, he echoed instantly. “Going back to your question, I think the worst thing about this place is being locked somewhere without a chance to get out. Like, buried alive”.
You stopped pushing him for a second, and he noticed.
“Because you can’t really die”.
“Yeah. You suffocate, suffer, then return. You’re hungry all the time, your throat is dry, it’s completely dark, you’re alone, and you can’t get out. And you’re just there, for years. Or maybe even centuries”.
You nodded.
“Yeah, that must be it”.
You still had that ingrained instinct to head for the registers after you were done shopping.
After a little detour, you finally pushed him outside, into the sun, and looked up at the sky. The time of eclipse was coming, but every day it made less and less sense. At first it was kinda tragic. There it goes again, your chance to get out of here. You have no ascendant, no Bennett blood. The eclipse winks at you, gloating, scolds you, and goes away, and you’re still here.
After a couple of months, it made less sense and hurt less. You were preoccupied with something else.
He was giving you looks which you knew wouldn’t let go. Kai had nothing else to entertain himself with here: he’s been here before. He couldn’t share your amazement at the stars at night, the stillness of the cities, the emptiness of the landscape. He didn’t care for completely silent, glowing, crowdless New York standing over the Hudson. He couldn’t pretend he was even mildly touched by a thousand miles long California beach, with the waves crashing on the white sand, and bringing no jellyfish. He was over it. As much as you were curious about every little corner of this world, he despised it; he found incredible worth in studying you instead. Following the advice you gave him (not to get bored (again), he was crawling up to you slowly, like a snake. He learnt all your glances and the way you liked to sleep. He learnt the pace of your heart. He knew what you ate, and what you didn’t. What time you took showers. What colors you never wore. He had nothing else to do here, but you.
So now, he knew he had striken a nerve, unknowingly, and of course, he wanted to know everything at once.
“You still don’t get it, do you”, he chuckled, standing idly by, as you loaded the trunk of your new, bottle-green BMW, with food. You bit your lower lip because you found it usually helped you keep a straight face.
“All you have is me”.
You hummed, almost amused. You somehow liked the sound of it.
“I am all you have. You don’t tell me, you tell nobody. You keep it to yourself. You go crazy. There’s two crazy people. We kill each other and there’s no happy end”.
“We can’t kill each other permanently”.
“I know, but we can do it many times and turn everything into... Starving Fest?”
You lost, letting a giggle out.
“Hunger Games”.
“Yeah, I know. What was it?”
“Oh, Kai, you’re so invasive”.
“I know, I’m a virus”.
“I do get it, by the way. I’m keenly aware you’re all I have”, you said, looking him straight in the eye. You understood it well the day he broke his stupid neck in Pisa. You could not even fathom that terror completely, to say nothing about explaining the feeling to him. You were afraid some deep feeling of attachment was developing here, right beneath your forehead.
“Then tell me”.
You sighed. Telling stories was, obviously, a big source of entertainment. People told stories from the beginning of times. Mainly dark stories, frightening ones. So that the fire seems warmer.
“You remember that golden slender crabtree in the Salvatore yard?”
“Yeah”, he nodded, already delighted. He knew it was going to be something hurtful for you, and enjoyed it all the more. The glint in his eyes made him look very alive, the way he looked when he was in his killing mode.
You got into the car, and Kai followed you, buckling up, out of habit now.
“And Katherine? Katherine Pierce? Do you remember her?”
“Damon’s chick who looks like Stefan’s chick”, he nodded again.
“Well, it’s fair to say Elena looks like Katherine. She’s her double after all”.
“Eh”.
“But yeah, Damon loves her very much. Still”.
You looked at the empty parking lot, and started the car. Kai groaned.
“Don’t tell me you love Damon Salvatore”.
“I used to. When I was, like, sixteen. If you were a sixteen year old girl, you’d love him, too”.
“I really doubt that. I’m more into rocker guys”.
“Whataver you say, Kai. Anyway, their romance was turbulent, he chased her for many years, and she barely gave a fuck about him, but Damon loved her so much; he practically ended up a vampire because of her. The whole Salvatore thing started because of her when she started dating both of them...”
“How’s it connected to you?” Kai asked.
“It is. I’m trying to give you the full story”.
You took on the street. Now you knew the town of Amalfi very well, to your own surprise. Would you ever guess, even a year before? This was bizarre. You drove along the trickly weaving serpentine roads almost like a pro, having lived here for almost a month. The view was divine. Deep blue in the morning, the sea was heating closer to four in the afternoon and was losing the color gradually, until the evening made it navy under the violet sky.
Prison.

“The full story is dull. I hated that whole town specifically for their neverending drama. Who’s in love with whom? Who cheats on whom? Everybody fights for Elena, but I mean, have you seen what she’s wearing all the time?” Kai rambled lazily, “What the hell? And who cares, as well? I was baffled at how much drama they’re able to handle. If you like someone, why not just fuck them, and move on?”
You swayed your head, already quite used to his blunt view of attraction. He was being a little hypocritical, though. In the way he spooned you diligently, every night, there was way more than his straightforward sober calculation.
“Anyway”, you interrupted him, “the bottom line is, Katherine and Damon, although they both will deny their more or less mutual feelings, do tend to do stuff just to cause a reaction out of each other. Katherine, surprisingly, more so than Damon. He at least admits he’s still simping hard about her, which I find totally adorable and very cinematographic”.
“Why?”
“Well, Kai, he’s loved her since he turned. Which is, like, about two hundred years”.
“You’re so bad at math”.
“And yes, they had slept together, so it’s definitely, obviously not just an extreme case of trying to get laid. He really loves her. After all she’s done. If that doesn’t make you believe in love, I don’t know what to do with you”.
He frowned a little, looking ahead. You took the wheel with both hands as the car started climbing up the mountain. The laughably luxurious villa you occupied had two pools, insane city view and was on the top of the highest mountaint. If you can have anything, why not take it all.
“Princess, I still don’t get how it’s all connected with your eternal dread of enclosed spaces and that fucking tree”.
You ignored his impatience.
“Back at school, when I befriended Damon, because I was friends with Elena, and Elena dated his brother, he got some crazy idea I’m his project or something. He was trying to mentor me, even took me together with him when he needed to do something. There was a time I was working as his Door Girl”.
“What’s that mean?”
“Vampires can’t enter homes. If he needed to get inside someone’s house, I’d step on the porch and push the owner a little, so that they step out, and he broke their neck”.
Kai whistled really quietly.
“You are vile”.
“I was sixteen, and I was completely in love with him, and really wanted him to think I was badass and it never occurred to me that he was using me”.
“Wow”, Kai said slowly.
“You sound very judgmental for a psycho killer (by Talking Heads)”.
He tilted his head, and you just had to look. He looked so handsome. Maybe it was the biological thing, the last guy on the planet and whatnot. Every day, he seemed prettier and prettier to you, the stupid bastard. All his smirks, his cocky attitude, his stupid rubber neck bending sideways, the eyes always targeting you with the deadliest accuracy, it all was calling for you, and the depths of you replied.
“At least I never pretended to be a good person”.
“I never told you I was”.
“You all think that by default”.
“You claim to know me and yet...”
He smiled.
“Okay. Go on”.
“Damon started thinking of me eventually as of his very little sister, or something. Who was also his drinking buddy occasionally. I’m still very proud that a vamp like him considered me somewhat of a friend”.
You knew Kai would sniff with contempt, and he did.
“So, I became a person of interest. Of course, everyone knew I’m his buddy. It’s a little town. When Katherine came, and she always comes, and it seems to me, she even comes back sometimes - when she came, she really wanted to sting him somehow. So she took me, and she put me inside the earth in a chunk of a concrete drain pipe. She buried me alive”.
Finally, there was no opinionated comment. The utter silence in the car suddenly made you aware you forgot your phone at home. Kai watched you, almost mesmerized, clearly trying to picture it as graphically as he could. You wondered if your suffering was arousing to him.
“She obviously closed it on both ends. It’s way worse than a coffin, I can tell you. Have you ever been buried alive?”
“No”, he said simply.
“She buried me right under the windows of his room. In the yard. So that when he realizes I’m dead, it haunts him that I was right under is nose. Concrete pipe, six feet under the ground, you know, even a vampire ear would have hard time hearing me scream”.
“Did you scream?”
“Of course. I split my forehead and my elbows, I broke all my nails. I was sixteen, I gave in to panic and almost lost all the oxygen. For some reason, I decided to kill myself by breaking my own skull, not to suffer, and started banging my head on the pipe”.
Kai’s face was unreadable. You looked at him and then turned back to the glass smooth sunny asphalt. Every patch of asphalt reminded you of that pipe. Every concrete thing reminded you of that, always.
“How did you get out?” he asked. You were glad Kai didn’t ask for gory details or the uncomfortable, uneasy questions.
“He did hear me. Turns out, I’m very good at screaming”.
“I reckon”, he replied quietly.
“You’re enjoying it, aren’t you?”
He shrugged.
“Those experiences are very telling. If I’d known you could take so much and go on, I’d be harsher with you. How did it feel? Worse than now?”
“Nothing has ever been worse than that, to be honest”, you said, and had to clear your throat, because you suddenly lost your voice a little.
“This is not an invitation, Parker”.
He chuckled.
“Oh, dear Y/N. You think I’m some kinda maniac?”
You side eyed him with a smile. He grinned, too.
“And what with the tree?”
“Damon brought like... a seed he had found somewhere in Persia or whatever, and planted it on the spot I’d been buried. What a douche. Like I need to be reminded about it every day. That’s exactly what happens when you soulless jerks try to be sensitive”.
“That hurts me, when you say that”.
You sighed and let go of the wheel with one hand, feeling for his head.
“I’m sorry. I keep forgetting you have feelings now”.
“I have feelings for you”.
“Right. This crabtree was supposed to be usual, but it turned out some magical witchy fairy tree, it never brings apples, but it blooms when other trees don’t. And the trunk is golden. And the leaves, too. So, boo, Y/N survival tree. Wonderful. I made him cut it once, and what do you think. It grew back the next year”.
“Katherine is still alive though?” Kai reasoned.
“Yes, she is”, you responded, a bit louder, “she’s simply sleeping in the Fell’s old tomb. Apparently, bad guys don’t have to die if they’re cute”.
“Good for me”.
“He has betrayed me”, you noted, “he has chosen her over me, the girl he was supposed to take care of. I was a child, Kai”.
His hand laid on your lap, which you asked him not to do many times. You wouldn’t shrug him off this time, though. It didn’t matter anymore. You liked it when he touched you, and Kai knew it.
“Well, you said yourself he loves her. You just gotta find yourself a guy who loves you as much, and he’ll avenge you”.
You hummed. Tension settled in the car. It was so thick you didn’t even notice the sun blazing right into your eyes. You already knew the road pretty well. Soon, there’ll be a very sharp U turn, and after it, the most beautiful bay will make itself visible. Ghost ships with summery scarlet and orange sails are forever stuck there, swaying peacefully on water. Wooden pier with creeking planks, emerald green weed fluttering near the shore. It was quite a sight, and many times already, you almost sent the car down off the cliff, hypnotized by the sight. The cliff was rocky, completely vertical down there. You got your foot ready to push gently on the breaks.
“Have you ever loved anyone?” you asked. Here, now, as your car traveled on the serpentine, with around four hundred packs of frozen chicken nuggets in the trunk, it sounded a bit silly.
Kai clicked his tongue, already preoccupied with something new. Just like that, the conversation was over.
“Kai, I asked you the question”.
“Yeah, yeah, I have”.
The bay turned up. You realized the car isn’t obeying you like it did yesterday.
“What the...”
The turn was now speeding up to you as you pushed the breaks into the floor, but nothing happened. The car was rolling down the hill, gaining speed, on ice-slippery road.
You knew at once he was behind it.
“Kai, what the fuck?”
Your spine went numb with very natural, very animal fear. You could see the edge now.
“I cut the breaks”, he replied, and took your hand. He interlocked his fingers with yours.
You had no idea what he was trying to tell you.

New Message from: Mom
Hi, sweetie. Been thinking about you a lot lately. I ran into Anise at the store yesterday (Remember her? Your friend Dominic’s mom), and she said she saw you fighting in the Vytal Tournament, so your dad and I looked it up. Happy to see your team made it into the next round. Dominic’s team apparently lost. He’s a little broken up about it. Maybe you could reach out, if you can find him. Anise would really appreciate it. I know you used to be close, so I’m sure he’d be happy to see you again.
New Message from: Mom
Your sister said she tried to text you. Did they come through? She’s worrying her scroll might be getting a little old…

Gunshots echoed through the training area, followed by a scream of frustration and the skidding of boots on the floor. Metal clanged and echoed, and footsteps pummeled.
After a moment, wings fluttered, and a body skidded across the floor. Roman groaned as he began to pick himself up.
“Had enough yet?”
Growling, he shot a glare over to where Anole was putting the halves of his bow back together. “Y’know, when I asked you to join me in training this morning, I meant helping me instead of, you know, absolutely destroying me.”
Anole returned the look with a cross of his arms. “Uh, y’know,” he mocked, “I wouldn’t be kicking your ass so hard if you took two seconds to pay attention to where you are before you attack.”
“I do!” Roman exclaimed. When Anole only raised an eyebrow, he got to his feet and put his hands on his hips. “I do!”
“So what you’re saying is, you meant to be blasted by Thomas’s semblance when saving Patton during round one and get your Aura knocked down by like, fifty percent?”
Roman’s face reddened. “That—That was one time!”
“And you were totally aware of that Cephalo when you stopped to talk to Virgil when your teammates were in danger on your mission?”
“Alright, that’s hardly fair—”
“And you knew the White Fang was coming to kidnap you, and you let them do it on purpose?” Anole held up a finger in pause. “If that one’s true, I might have to kill you myself.”
Roman groaned and threw his hands in the air. “Alright, I get it! So I tend to get tunnel vision in fights; big deal! It’s not like the distractions aren’t coming from the target themselves most of the time…”
Anole furrowed his brow and threw his arms out. “Wh—none of those distractions came from—!” He cut himself off and sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. “Roman. Dude. It’s not just about fighting,” he said. “You gotta think about this stuff in regular, day-to-day life, too.”
Roman let out a laugh. “As if we aren’t training for fighting to be our day to day life.”
“That’s not what I meant!” Anole snapped. “This is exactly what I’m saying! I’m talking, like, people, and relationships and stuff, but you’re still focused on Hunter stuff!”
“Well, yeah! In case you haven’t noticed, we’re kind of in the middle of a biannual world tournament!” he exclaimed. “I do want my team to win, you know.”
“You were already knocked out! Because you weren’t paying attention!”
“I was! Just because it was on my teammate instead of my opponent doesn’t mean it was a bad thing!” Roman shot. “Patton could have gotten hurt if I hadn’t caught him!”
“And you got hurt instead,” Anole lowly pointed out.
Roman reeled back into stunned silence. “I-I didn’t…” His fists balled as he searched for his words. “I still had Aura left…”
Anole let out a breath and stepped forward, opening his arms in invitation. “I know,” he said. “That’s not what I meant.”
Roman looked at his brother for a moment, eyes flicking down to his open arms; his breath came out in a rush as he tucked himself into his grip.
Anole held him close for a long few minutes, saying nothing about his shoulder growing increasingly damp. He rocked him gently and ran his fingers through his hair. In return, Roman’s wings slowly curled around them.
“You’re not bad at fighting,” Anole eventually muttered. As Roman’s grip tightened, he hastily added, “Really, you’re not. I’ve seen you wipe the floor in 1v1 classroom fights a hundred times over. You’re good at what you do. You just… can’t be an idiot. You need to think, and pay attention, especially when you’re in the field. People are going to get hurt if you don’t.”
“I know,” Roman choked out.
“And that applies in regular life, too. You can’t just rush head-first into things without considering where they’re going to end up, or who it’s going to affect other than you… Especially when it involves other people.”
Roman frowned. He pulled back just enough to look Anole in the eye. “What do you mean?”
Anole, while he had the grace to appear the slightest bit embarrassed with the flush of his cheeks, gave his shoulders a squeeze and shrugged. “W-Well… Y’know, with you and Riad…”
“What about us?”
“I…”
Yanking himself away, Roman put his hands on his hips and shot a glare that felt a hundred times worse than the ones just moments ago. “No, go on. I want to hear what you have to say about me and my boyfriend’s relationship.”
Anole looked away and shuffled. “He’s not just your boyfriend,” he attempted to say under his breath.
Roman could do nothing but stare at his own brother for a long moment, just processing the words that had come out of his mouth. If it wasn’t for the cool, early morning light seeping through the windows, he could have sworn he was starting to see red.
“Is that what your problem is with us being together?” he snapped. “The fact that you don’t get to spend as much time with him anymore?”
“What? No, Roman—”
“You spend almost every moment with him that I’m not there, not to mention an entire year before me, and you’re jealous?”
“Ro—”
“I cannot believe that that’s what’s been up your… your scaly ass this whole time! Jealous because your brother and best friend are taking time away from you to be happy together!”
“I don’t want you to get hurt!”
Roman froze. Anole huffed out a breath and ran a hand through his hair.
“Look, I just— I don’t know what I’d do if one of you got hurt because of the other,” he admitted. “It would suck so much! I love you both so much, and I hate seeing either of you in pain! I hate seeing anyone I love being in pain! And… And knowing I’d have to pick a side, pick only one of you to stick by, it’s just… Gods, I hate it! And I’d especially hate it if I knew there was something I could have done to stop it!”
“…You think I’m going to hurt him,” Roman slowly said.
Anole stiffened. He finally looked back at Roman.
“That’s not what I meant.”
“I think I know exactly what you meant.”
“Roman…”
Before Anole could say another word, Roman shut his eyes and shook his head. He turned and headed towards the door.
“I know you hate us being together,” he called over his shoulder, “But you don’t have to be such a jerk about it.”
The door slammed shut a moment later. Anole was left in suffocating silence.
---------------
“You’re absolutely sure you’re okay with me being your partner for this?”
Logan let out a soft sigh as he turned to look at his teammate. Patton’s fingers fiddled with the edge of his shield, and he was staring at the arena floor as if he expected it to jump out at him.
“Yes, Patton,” he said for what must have been the fifth time since they stepped onto the field. “You are undoubtedly the best choice for this fight, in many more ways than one.” After a beat, he added, “Besides, even if I were to change my mind, it’s far too late to do anything about it now.”
Patton’s head snapped up, eyes blown wide. “I-I’m sure there’s still time! The other team isn’t even here yet; I could run and go get Virgil, if you want!”
“There is no need, Patton. I was merely expressing a hypothetical situation,” Logan quickly corrected. “I am happy to have you joining me for this fight.”
There was a beat where Patton could do nothing but blink owlishly at him; even after it passed, all he could do was look back at the floor and say, “…Oh.”
A purple rubber ball rolled up to their feet.
“Sorry!” a voice cried.
A girl wearing a red and white sports uniform sprinted over and scooped it up before jogging back to the other side of the platform, where another person stood, shaking his head.
“Valerie, come on,” he chuckled. “We haven’t even started and you’re losing track of that thing.”
“Come on, I just dropped it!” Valerie said back.
Her partner rolled his eyes, smile on his face, and leaned his weight on the long spear in his hands that was about his same height. His cloak slipped off of the gold plated armor that rested on his right arm. “Uh huh, and which piece of padding did it ‘drop-bounce’ off of?”
“Jo!” Valerie huffed.
Patton giggled at the banter, only to slap his hand over his mouth when it drew the attention of the other two to him. They stared at him for a beat, and then looked at each other and began to laugh.
“Nice to meet you,” Jo said. “Patton and Logan, right? Team PRVL?”
Logan nodded. “And you must be Valerie and Jo of Team SVIJ.”
“Huh, would you look at that,” he replied. “The boys and the girls both did their homework.”
Valerie winked at Jo. “But only us girls are making it to the next round.”
“I’m not one right now, but you’ve got the spirit.”
Patton let out a soft whimper, but Logan only smiled.
“We’ll see about that,” he answered.
The platform beneath them shifted as the fields began to fill into place; all four turned and inspected them as they rose to the floor. A forest, pirate ship, the geysers, and…
Valerie gasped. “The gravity fields! Oh, you two are going down!”
“Val, don’t give our strategies away!”
“In three… two… one…”
They scrambled to get into position.
“BEGIN!”
Valerie threw her ball in the air and jumped after it, twirling up just high enough to slam her padded knee into it, surrounding it in a bright purple glow, and send it flying towards Logan and Patton. The two dove out of the way just in time; when the ball hit the ground, it dimmed and skidded like it was made of stone. She leapt towards it and grabbed it while somersaulting, and as soon as she was back on her feet, she tossed it up and began to bounce it between her knees. The purple glow grew with each hit.
Logan caught himself from tumbling by placing one hand on the ground and pressing down hard until he slowed to a stop. The second he regained his balance, he changed his book into its pistol form and aimed at Valerie’s ball; just as he was about to fire, Jo’s spear flew in and knocked it out of his hand. While his weapon skidded away, the spear redirected itself and soared right back into Jo’s hand just as he started to charge at Logan.
He was quick to throw up his arm and block the first swing, but Jo was quicker, grabbing the bar between his spear’s double-blades and detaching it from its handle. He balanced the pole on Logan’s forearm armor and spun it; Logan ducked down and somersaulted underneath Jo’s legs just before it collided with the back of his head. Jo whipped around and slammed the blades toward him, but they smashed into the ground while Logan leapt up and sprinted towards his own weapon.
“That’s my son!” a voice cried from the stands.
Logan cast a quick glance up to where his father was on his feet, screaming and jumping up and down. He let out a huff of exasperation before focusing back on the fight.
Letting out a yelp, Patton hastily threw his shield in front of his face just before Valerie’s ball could hit. It bounced off, the impact creating a vibration so intense he could practically feel his bones shake, and shot back towards her. She jumped a few inches off of the ground to headbutt it against the purple sweatband on her forehead, right back into his shield. Patton whimpered and took a step back as another bout of discomfort shot through his whole body. He squeezed his eyes shut in an attempt to focus, but at the next hit, he felt a tingle run up his arms. He bit his tongue and tried to keep it in.
“Patton!”
A strap wrapped around his bicep and yanked him away just in time, the ball just grazing the side of his head as he was whipped away. He found himself tumbling across the floor, only landing on his feet by chance; when he inevitably lost his balance, Logan caught him by the shoulders and righted him.
“Breathe, Patton,” he ordered. “Try to focus it.”
With a battle cry, Jo leapt into the air and brandished their re-combined spear over their head. Patton shoved Logan away and held up his shield. Jo didn’t miss a beat; he shifted just enough to use it as a springboard and flipped over him, choosing instead to javelin the spear at Logan, who sidestepped it and flung his book into his stomach. The impact sent Jo flying into the gravity fields, and his spear wasn’t far after.
A split second later, the glowing rubber ball flew between their heads, followed by Valerie chasing after both it and her teammate. She turned and shot a wink at them, smile as bright as her weapon.
“Catch us if you can!” she laughed.
As soon as her feet left the middle platform, Valerie soared into the air, leaning forward enough to hit her ball against an elbow pad and send it towards Jo; she flipped a couple of times before coming to a gentle landing on one of the large walls floating above the ground. Jo stood upside down on a platform above her and swung his spear at the ball, knocking it back to her like a game of baseball. She sent it back with her knee and ran up the wall to get closer to her teammate.
“That’s what the gravity fields do?!” Patton squeaked.
But Logan was already sprinting towards their opponents, only allowing himself a little wobble when he jumped off of the main floor and was pulled towards a platform three away from the others. Patton swallowed thickly and followed after.
His head began to swim once he was in the air, feeling himself being pulled towards or against all sorts of different directions; immediately, his arms and legs shot out, trying to get the balance that the area had no laws over. His stomach flipped as quickly as he himself did, and he watched as patches of ice started to form on the platforms he passed.
In the stands, Virgil cringed and ran a hand through his hair, ducking half his face beneath the wall in front of their seats as if it could shield him from what was happening to his partner. “Oh, Pat…!”
“That can’t be good,” Thamir said.
Logan somersaulted and used his hands to launch himself off of his platform, righting himself perfectly to land the final gap between himself and Jo. Jo turned to glance at him and smirked; the ball came flying in, and he batted it towards Logan, who threw up an arm for it to bounce against. It sent a shot of pain through his muscles, but it bounced at just the right angle for it to fly away from either of the members of Team SVIJ. Valerie began to maneuver her way back to it while Logan reared back and threw his book at Jo.
The strap wrapped tight around his spear, and Jo attempted to yank back and pull Logan with him, but he dug his heels into the floor and held his ground. He grabbed the strap with both hands and pulled, locking them in a tug of war of weapons.
Beneath them, the white glow around the edges of the platform switched to purple, and their feet lifted off of the floor. As they fell, they both yanked themselves towards each other, punching and kicking when they were close enough, until the side of another platform separated them. They both slammed against the floor of their respective sides.
As Logan clambered to his feet, a hand brushed against his hair, and he looked up in time to watch Patton yelp as he floated by.
“Logan, help!” he cried.
“Get to a platform!”
“I don’t know how!”
Before Logan could reply, he was yanked away and over the edge of the platform, the force causing him to lose his grip on his strap and send him flying in a completely different direction. He crashed into a large cube with a grunt. As he pushed himself up, he watched Jo tuck his book into his jacket and leap off to another platform.
Logan growled and pushed himself to his feet, only for the gravity to begin to shift again. He sprinted up the wall as fast as he could and dove, grabbing onto the corner just as his feet lifted off of the ground. Carefully, he swung his other arm up and pulled himself to the top as he calculated how to get to either Valerie or Jo from where he was.
Just as he began to stand, a yell sounded behind him, and a body slammed into his back, sending them both back to the floor. Valerie’s ball rolled innocently across their faces as he and Patton hurried back to their feet.
“H-Hey, I made it to a platform finally!” Patton laughed.
Logan glared. “Patton…,” he growled.
Before he could say another word, Patton reached down and snatched the ball up, tucking it under his arm. “Well, if they can steal your weapon, we can steal theirs, too! No need to play dirty in a tourna—Oof!”
Valerie slammed her feet into Patton’s back, sending him flying off the platform and her ball out of his grip and into the air; she hit it up with her elbow and blocked a punch from Logan before kicking him in the chest and sending him back a few steps. They repeated this a few times, with Valerie playing keepie-uppie with her weapon and Logan throwing attacks in between, until Logan’s legs were knocked out from under him and he dropped to the floor.
He rolled to the side just in time to dodge Jo’s spear coming towards him and slamming his elbow into his chest. As Jo recoiled, Logan smashed the heel of his palm into his chin and kicked him back into Valerie, who dropped her ball as the two stumbled off of the edge.
Logan was about to leap after them when Patton crashed into him again and sent them flying in a different direction than intended. They each grabbed onto each other by instinct as they swirled around, but once Logan’s head stopped spinning, he huffed and shot Patton a glare.
“I’m sorry!” Patton yelped in return. “I didn’t mean to!”
In a split second decision, Logan grabbed his teammate’s wrist and whirled as hard as he could, launching Patton out of the gravity fields and back towards center stage. Patton’s gasp and wide eyes followed Logan as the momentum sent himself onto another platform; as he landed, he checked to make sure safely made it to the floor.
Roman threw his hands in the air and jumped up, practically yanking Riad out of his seat when he refused to let go of his hand. “What is he doing?!”
Virtus and Esther glanced at each other, both letting out a soft, deflating sigh.
A blast of wind slowed Patton’s trajectory down, but he tumbled across the floor no less. With a quick glance at the scoreboard to check his Aura, Logan determined Patton would be alright while he took Team SVIJ out on his own.
Jo threw his spear at Valerie’s ball and knocked it over to where the two of them stood; she jumped up and caught it, and as soon as his weapon was back in his hands, they turned their backs to each other and looked around.
“Where’d you go, kid?” Jo muttered.
A blur shot by to their side, and they snapped their gazes over in time to see Logan high in the air above. His fist was reared back, and his necklace about to hit himself in the face; the platform behind him began to suck him towards it, but the gravity shifted just in time.
He let out a cry as the fields launched him towards the two.
They each jumped to the side just as he smashed into the ground; they reared their weapons back, but Logan was quick to block. He swatted Jo’s spear to shoot over his shoulder, and punched Valerie’s ball up and away. Jo threw his weapon across his body and pulled him tight to his chest, but Logan grabbed it and shoved it away, throwing his head back to collide with his jaw. While he stumbled, he ripped it away and used it to swipe Valerie’s feet out from under her.
He spun and crouched, holding the blade towards Jo while he recovered. As soon as he realized what had happened, he glared and pulled Logan’s book out of his jacket, switching it immediately into its pistol form and firing a few rounds. Logan spun the spear to block each bullet before charging towards him, blade out.
As soon as he was close enough, Jo ducked and somersaulted underneath Logan’s legs, purposefully knocking one out with his shoulder. Logan stumbled and rolled; he got back to his feet as fast as he could, only for the rubber ball to slam into his chest. The force knocked the spear out of his hand and sent him flying up and off of the platform.
He managed to right himself before landing on the closest ground he could find, only dropping to his knees when it pulled him in faster than he was expecting. He allowed himself just a moment to catch his breath and assess the situation when bullets began to strike the ground around him. Shooting to his feet, he ran, glancing over to watch as Jo fired Logan’s pistol while Valerie charged up her ball.
Logan was just about to leap again when a bullet knocked the book out of Jo’s hands; shortly after, another hit the ball away.
Right on the edge of center stage, Patton held up his shield, one eye shut for aim as he fired at their opponents.
A spark of pride shot through Logan’s soul just as he reached the top of the platform. He turned to send Patton a smile and thumbs up, when—
His foot slid out from under him.
Logan sucked in a gasp as he slipped off of the edge, hands reaching to grip the edge and catch himself, but they were only met with slippery ice. As he tumbled towards the ground, he bounced off of no less than two separate platforms; he slammed into the corner of the third and final one before he found himself hitting the tiles below.
A buzzer sounded.
“Ooh, and there goes the powerhouse of Team PRVL!” Professor Port’s voice yelled. “A rare ring-out caused by a student’s own teammate!”
Logan felt the blood drain from his face.
“It’s up to Mr. Passio to save this match now! But can he do it without any aid from his team?”
Patton’s eyes widened as Jo and Valerie started to make their way over to him. He fired a few rounds towards them, but they dodged without missing a beat.
“Pat, go for cover!” Virgil screamed.
Just as they were leaping off of the last platform, Patton turned on his heel and started to sprint towards the trees. He heard them hit the ground, and just a second later, Jo’s spear flew past. He yelped and spun around; immediately, he threw his shield up to block the ball. A whimper ripped out of his throat at both the sound and the shock crawling up his forearms.
Patton forced himself to take a deep breath before allowing himself to look up; the two were sprinting towards him at full speed. He squeezed his eyes shut and threw out his hand towards the ground, trying to focus on the fear running through his veins instead of the electricity.
Just as he opened his eyes, Valerie stepped on the sheet of ice that had formed in front of her. She froze and cried out, face contorting in pain, and stumbled down to the ground before ripping herself away from the area.
A blast of wind knocked Jo back a few steps while Patton gasped, but he recovered quick enough; his spear flew back into his hands, and he swung it towards his side. Patton jumped sideways and blocked it with his shield. While he was turned away, Jo jabbed his fingers into the side of his neck, and Patton screamed. His knees buckled, hand flying up to protect the area.
Jo startled at the reaction and went to catch him, but ice shot out around them, and he fell to the ground on top of him. He was quick to roll off, but a statically charged punch hit him in the stomach, causing him to slide halfway across the field. He landed near Valerie, who was just shaking off her own pain and reaching for her ball.
Patton, back on his feet, whirled around to look at them, eyes filled with panicked tears and hands cupping his neck. Crackles of electricity flew off his forearms, and his breath came out in erratic gasps.
Jo and Valerie shot each other concerned glances.
In the stands, both Virgil and Roman shot to their feet and grabbed the wall in front of them in white-knuckled grips.
“No, no, no, not now!”
“Breathe, Patton, breathe! Shit!”
Carefully getting to her feet, Valerie looked over at Patton. “We gotta end this,” she stated to Jo.
He glanced up at the board and pulled his spear into his hands. “His Aura’s low. One good hit should knock him out,” he replied. “Watch out for his electricity.”
“You don’t have to tell me twice.”
Jo planted his feet in the ground and held out his spear; Valerie grabbed onto the handle between the blades and started to run. He whipped her around himself a few times before she detached the blades and skated at full speed towards Patton. He threw out his left hand to try to catch her, but she grabbed him by the shield and twisted his arm behind his back. Bolts of lightning started to shoot out, but she held tight, using his weapon to her advantage.
On the other end of the stage, Jo backed up as far as he could before sprinting to the ice and hopping on, arm reared back as far as it could go. He slammed his fist into Patton’s stomach and used his torso to catch himself, sliding to a stop next to Valerie.
Patton fell to the floor and covered his ears as the buzzer echoed through the arena.
The screams of the crowd and the cheers of the announcers were lost to their ears as they dropped down next to him.
“Are you okay?” Jo asked.
Patton nodded, despite choking on a sob.
In an instant, Logan was skidding across the ice on his knees to make it to his teammate. He reached up and grabbed both of Patton’s biceps, squeezing them tight when he whimpered.
“Patton? Patton, it’s alright,” he tried.
Virgil and Roman bolted as soon as the fight was over, nearly tripping over Virtus and Esther in their haste to get to the aisle. Esther was quick to follow, and Riad and Thamir weren’t far behind.
Just as Virtus was getting up to join them, the hairs on the back of his neck stood up, and he froze. The all too familiar feeling of eyes on him caused his skin to crawl. His eyes flicked around the crowd until he found the source, standing at the bottom of the balcony two sections above.
Despite having been caught, the woman stood her ground, and they started at each other for a long, arduous moment. Virtus couldn’t read her expression from as far away as she was, especially with half of her face covered, but between her crossed arms and stiff posture, he could only find himself putting his guard up.
After a long minute, she finally turned and headed up the stairs, magenta ponytail flicking behind her.
Virtus watched her go before following after his family.
--------------------
“Patton— Patton, please just let me—”
“Ah—Ah! Roman…!”
Letting out a soft huff, Roman sat back on the bed, ice pack dropping to his lap. “It’s going to bruise if we don’t ice it, Pat,” he stated. “Do you have any idea how painful bruised gills are? Because from what I hear, it’s a lot.”
“It feels fine right now,” Patton whined.
“Yeah, because Virgil’s holding you.”
Virgil’s already-closed eyes squeezed tighter, and he pulled Patton closer against his chest. “Don’t distract me,” he muttered.
Patton patted his arm with his free hand while his other gripped white-knuckled at his collar. “C-Can’t we just put it on top of this? The cold would get through eventually, right?”
“It would if you’d let me touch your neck,” Roman pointed out.
He immediately curled in on himself, shoulders almost coming up to his ears; they bumped against Virgil’s jaw, and he flinched. Patton let out a hiss when the pain started to seep back in.
“Gah—sorry, sorry!”
Virgil quickly pulled him into his arms again. Roman could only watch and offer Patton a pointed stare. When the ache began to ebb, their leader looked up and sighed.
“Am I allowed to hold it instead?” he asked, voice wavering dangerously close to tears.
If there was anything that could convince Roman to break every rule he knew, it was a sad Patton.
Reluctantly, he handed him the ice pack. “You can’t hold it on for too long at a time,” he said, “Or it’s going to burn your scales and hurt even worse. Fifteen minutes at a time, max.”
Patton wiped at his eyes and carefully peeled his collar away just enough to set it on his swollen gills. A shiver wracked up his spine, prompting both Virgil and Roman to reach to wrap his detached cape tighter around him. He squirmed under the attention.
“Guys, I’m fine, really,” he whispered.
Letting out a soft sigh, Virgil carefully rested his forehead on Patton’s opposite shoulder. “We know, we’re just… worried about you,” he said. His eyes flicked over to the empty other side of the room. “…Logan, too. But he’s too stubborn to let us take care of him.”
“He isn’t not letting us take care of him,” Roman replied. “I’m sure he just wants to be with his parents right now.”
“…He really wanted to win, didn’t he?”
The question hung in the air, answer only coming with the silence it created. Patton frowned and lowered his ice pack, fingers reaching up to fiddle with the clasp of his collar.
“I hope he’s alright.”
--------------------
Logan clutched tight at his necklace, tugging at it as if it would help his cause. “Father, please.”
“Logan, no,” Virtus answered. “You don’t need to do any training tonight. You fought great today and deserve a rest!”
“I do not. There is clearly a need for me to keep working, and I would like to take advantage of you being here while you are,” Logan shot back.
Virtus rubbed a hand over his face, leaning back against the wall outside of the training arena. “You won’t learn anything if you’re exhausted.”
“Falsehood. Any training will still extend to my muscle memory.”
“But your brain isn’t going to retain it after a day like today.”
Crossing his arms, Logan raised an eyebrow. “Father, you of all people should know that we won’t have time to rest and recover when we’re in the field,” he stated.
“I do know that, and that’s exactly why I’m pushing you to relax,” he said, waving an arm out. “Look around you. You’ve got yourself surrounded by friends, training partners, time to study and do what you want… Take advantage of it while you’re here, Logan. This isn’t going to last forever.”
Logan scowled. “Why should I take advantage of it when it only serves to underprepare me? I can’t let myself get used to the luxuries here.”
“Because you’re going to miss this.” Virtus shook his head and looked around campus. “These four years are your last chance to be a kid, you know. Enjoy it while you can. It might not seem like it now, but after you graduate, you’re going to wish you had another chance to be young and reckless without any serious consequences.
“I don’t want you to look back with regret that you grew up too fast. I know you already did when… when we lost your mother. You deserve a chance at the same carefree childhood that the rest of us had. I know you have that here with your team, your friends. You can’t just push away everything that’s kind to you to harden up for the real world. It’s going to eventually do that for you anyway.”
Logan’s face slowly began to soften as he mulled over what he’d been told. A deep, weighted breath tumbled out of his lungs, and he looked away, closing his eyes.
“Father… I understand what you’re attempting to say,” he muttered, “But I can’t… I can’t—I can’t let myself continue to be a failure because I didn’t push myself enough when I could have.”
Virtus froze. “Failure?” he asked. “When have you ever been a failure?”
Letting out a huff, Logan turned and began to pace.
“I have been consistently failing at nearly everything from the moment I arrived at Beacon Academy!” he admitted. “I fail to keep myself focused on my studies instead of getting distracted by the world around me. I fail to understand how to form relationships of any sort; all of my friends so far have either been through assignments or association! I failed to realize Virgil was starting to struggle with anxiety before it impacted his health, I failed to save Roman before he got himself into danger twice, and I’m still failing to help Patton cope with what we’re increasingly suspecting to be autism, despite the fact that I’m autistic and am the most qualified of our team to teach him!”
Virtus opened his mouth, but Logan whirled around with desperate eyes before he could get a word out.
“And you saw what happened today!” he cried. “I thought I was making the right decisions, but everything I did was wrong! I failed my team, I failed Patton, I failed you! And I…”
Logan sucked in a trembling breath, turning his face away before his father could see the growing wetness of his eyes.
“…I failed Mother.”
Virtus could only think of one time where his world was rocked so suddenly.
“Logan… Logan, no, no, Logie!”
His breath rushed out of him as he rushed to his son, wrapping his arms tight around him and burying his nose in his hair. He cupped the back of his head and gently began to rock them; when Logan hugged him back, he could feel the slight tremor in his arms.
It was a long few minutes before they moved again. Virtus pulled away first, keeping a hand on Logan’s back, and directed them to a nearby bench, where he had Logan sit. Virtus kneeled down in front of him and pulled his mask down to his chin.
“There has not been a single moment since the day you were born where I wasn’t so incredibly proud of the person you’ve become,” he assured. “You are, without a doubt, the greatest thing that ever happened to us. You’re strong, you’re brilliant, you have a good heart, even if you struggle to express it sometimes… It’s like someone took the best parts of your mother and I and put them into one person. How could I ever not be proud of you?”
He reached up and gently took hold of Logan’s necklace, an old ache hiding just behind his eyes.
“I knew your mother better than almost anyone,” he said, slight crack in his voice, “and I know she felt the same way. She never, never would have seen you as a failure. Especially not over something as silly as a tournament.”
“I wanted to win for her,” Logan choked out. “I thought… I thought if I could get as far as she did, then I’d have lived up to her expectations. I’d have lived up to her. But I-I couldn’t even do that.”
Virtus took Logan’s hands and held them tight. “The only expectations she had for you was for you to be happy, Logan. She couldn’t have cared less about your skills as a Huntsman. You could have been knocked out by a gust of wind, and she’d have loved you all the same. You were her pride and joy, and nothing in this world could have ever changed that.”
He pulled a hand away to cup Logan’s cheek, doing what he could to cover the scars from view. A soft smile formed on his lips.
“I see so much of her in you,” he whispered. “The way you fight, the way you speak… The way you put so much pressure on yourself to do better, even when you’re already giving more than you have to offer.” He started to rub soft circles into his skin. “And I’m going to tell you the same thing I always told her: You’re doing fine.”
Logan shook his head, refusing to look at him. “But Mother—”
“—Had her flaws, too,” Virtus interrupted. “She didn’t win every fight. She didn’t catch every sign when her friends were struggling. And she certainly wasn’t perfect. But she was so, so loved, not just despite all that, but because of it, and you are, too.”
He pulled his hand away from his face, scooping up both of Logan’s again.
“You are, too,” he repeated.
Sucking in a trembling breath, Logan nodded. His shoulders hesitantly lowered, as if he was forcing himself to lift a weight that had haunted him for years.
“Okay,” he whispered. “Okay.”
“And Logan…”
Virtus sighed, looking at the ground.
“I love you and I am so proud of you,” he said. “I know you know that, and I know you know Esther does, too. And we always want to you understand that you can always come to us when you’re struggling with something.”
He squeezed his hands before turning back to him. “But you need to rely on your team, too,” he stated. “They love you and care about you just as much as we do, and I’m sure they want to help you as much as you want to help them. I know you’re strong, and you’re capable of handling things on your own; you’ve been doing it since the day you scaled the bookcase in the living room when we put your favorite story on the top shelf.”
Logan let out a weak laugh. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard you scream louder than when you saw me.”
“And I never saw your mother move as fast as she did when it startled you and you lost your footing,” Virtus chuckled.
Another noise came out of Logan, this one a mix between a laugh and a sob; a tear trailed down his cheek. He reached to wipe it away, but Virtus gently caught his wrist and used the pad of his own thumb to do it instead.
“My point is,” he said, “You don’t have to do everything alone, Logan. Let your friends take care of you. I’m more than willing to bet that they’d be honored to have the chance. Okay?”
Logan nodded, but the deep frown on his face didn’t budge. “I… I just don’t think I know how,” he admitted.
Virtus offered him a soft smile.
“Then let them teach you.”
Logan considered this for a long moment, and then he nodded again, tipping forward to rest his forehead on his father’s shoulder. Virtus wrapped his arms around him and held him close.
For one blissful moment, it almost felt like everything was okay in the world. Every problem, every emotional strain and social struggle fell away when his father was there to shield him.
In the back of his mind, Logan was reminded of a time where he felt the cold sting of a winter breeze on his ears. The crunching of footsteps against a thick blanket of snow landed in time with the jostling of his tiny body against her shoulder. He could practically still smell the vanilla and coffee radiating off of the thick coat he rested on. Her silky brunette hair tickled when it brushed against his face.
He didn’t want to open his eyes. But he knew it wasn’t going to last forever.
When they finally pulled away, a soft set of footsteps approached.
“I think you’ve both earned a little something nice today,” Esther quietly spoke, holding out the drink carrier in her hands. “Hot apple cider with a hint of caramel, fresh out of the press.”
Virtus climbed up to the bench to sit to the left of Logan, and Esther sat herself on his right, passing out the drinks with only soft “thank-you”s to break the silence. Their shoulders rested against each other as they sipped, despite the ample room on their seat, serving as a gentle reminder of their presence.
Logan found his eyes drifting towards the building where his dorm was. He could see the light on inside, but they were far too distant to be able to make out anymore details. A dull pang settled in his heart at the thought of them having fun without him; he pressed his lips together and looked down at his lap.
Perhaps he could skip training for one night.

And They Were Pining
Yaku Morisuke x Reader
Anon requested: can i request something for yaku? fluffy with mutual pining please? Word Count: 1787 A/N: This was the only title I could think of. I’ve been awake way too long. No thoughts head empty just Yaku. I don’t know if he’s in character. I tried
"Hey, Y/N!" You turn to see a certain libero- one you hold very close to your heart- jogging to catch up with you. "Yaku! Hey, what's up?" "Lev ran away again, we're trying to find him.""Oh, have you tried the drama room? Drama club doesn't run on Wednesdays, sometimes he hides there." "I swear you're like a Lev wrangler." You giggle at the suggestion, smiling softly at him. "We missed you at practice yesterday, you know." You're sort of like the teams unofficial manager, never quite committing to the role but fulfilling the duties nonetheless. "You did?" "Yeah. It's nice having you there- feels weird when you're not." You couldn't hear the words that sat between the ones he uttered, the I like having you around, the when I don't see you I end up thinking about you all day. You had no reason to suspect his affections for you. He was the opposite of subtle, but if you'd ever had an inkling, you'd brushed it aside as wishful thinking, thinking Yaku would never feel that way about you. This could not be further from the truth. "As soon as my physics project is in I'll be back, promise. That's where I'm headed now, my WiFi clapped out so I'm gonna see if I can finish it in the library." "The library WiFi is less likely to be working than yours is." Your laugh sends sparks through his veins, and the walk ends far too soon as you reach the door of the drama room. "I hope you find Lev in there, I'll see you tomorrow? Lunch? Just us?" "I can't wait." He couldn't, he wanted to spend every second he had with you. You pat his shoulder, setting the area on fire, before adjusting the strap on your bag and making your way to the library. He doesn't know why he didn't offer to help you with physics. He seems to forget how to think when you're around. He sighs, wishing he could apply the same confidence he had on the court to asking you out, and pushes the door to the drama room open. Lev yelps in surprise. Busted.
Lunch with Yaku the next day turns, unsurprisingly, into lunch with most of the team, because apparently not one of those boys understands the concept of minding their own business (except for Kenma, he got dragged over by Kuroo.) You don't know whether it's a blessing or a curse, since an hour alone with Yaku would almost certainly mean you'd embarrass yourself in some way- thereby solidifying yourself as nothing but a friend in his mind- but the chaos that follows the others means you don't get as much chance to talk to him, no matter how you both try. Not long after their arrival he leans over to you, intending to get close enough that he can apologise for their behaviour without them hearing, when Lev- doing God knows what- stumbles into him, pushing him forward, directly into you. His mouth that had been close to your ear lands on your cheek in what looks and feels very much like a kiss, and the next second Lev is being kicked. It's hard to tell whether Yaku is pink with anger or embarrassment. It's rather more obvious which one applies to you. The next apology is louder, and he refuses to look at you as he says it. You assume he's embarrassed because he doesn't like you, while every other person with mildly effective eyesight can tell it's because he does. He's still sitting next to you, and while you're doing everything you can not to look at him, he can't take his eyes off of you. There's still a faint dusting of pink across your cheeks, and you're chewing on your lip like you usually do when you're nervous. He can't keep the smile off of his face as he watches you, and the others really don't know how you haven't noticed his crush on you. He wouldn't know subtlety if it hit him in the face.
You're back to watching practice on Monday, and it would be difficult to miss the way his face lights up when you walk into the gym. Apparently, it's also hard to miss his face with the volleyball, which Yamamoto discovers moments after you walk in. (It's definitely Yaku's fault, he was utterly distracted by you, but he still yells at the second year.)You're the first person to rush to his side the second he hits the ground, and the only person he listens to when you insist that he come sit down until his nose stops bleeding. You've seen him get hit in the face plenty of times before, but you're still worried, and hold out a hand to help him up. The blood is not the only thing on his face that's red, but the blush doesn’t last long. It turns out in the aftermath nobody noticed that he fell backwards at an odd angle, not even him. That is, until he takes your hand and begins to stand, letting out a yelp as he falls back down. "Are you okay? What's wrong?" "Think I twisted my ankle." "Shit. Hey Kuroo, you're strong, can you help me carry him?" "You don't need to carry me, I'm fine." "You can't stand, Yaku. Do as you're told." He'll never tell you that the tone of voice you use sends a shiver down his spine. Once he's on the bench, he feels a little guilty as you examine his ankle carefully, it really doesn't hurt that bad and you're being so gentle with him that it makes his heart thud. "I think you’ve sprained it. You did fall at a really weird angle. I'm gonna bandage it up just in case, okay?" "I don't nee-" "When are you gonna learn to listen to me?" "That is never gonna happen." The smile you send his way is soft and amused. He could almost forget the pain in his ankle when you look at him like that. Almost. "Ah, that hurt." "Sorry, I'll be a little gentler. How's your nosebleed?" "I think it's stopped." "There's a plus, then. All done." You pat his knee as you stand up, smiling at him. "See, this is why we need you at practice." "And here I thought you just liked having me around." "Well, there's that too."
Two weeks later, you're pulled into an empty classroom on your way to practice. You spin around to see Kuroo taking a seat on the nearest desk. "Kuroo what the fu-" "I have a question for you." "And that requires kidnapping me?" "Relax, whats a little light kidnapping between friends?" "Just ask me your question." "D'you like Yaku?" "Well, he is my best friend." "You know that's not what I mean. When you daydream in class does your mind wander to our darling libero?" "I- that's... why would you? He's- Yaku is my friend! How could you- you're trying to throw me off, aren't you? Maybe you're the one who likes him and you're projecting? Huh?" You don't even give him time to look surprised before you run out of the room. That was potentially the stupidest moment of your life, and your outburst most certainly gave Kuroo the answer he was looking for. You let out a groan as you stopped running, sliding down the nearest wall and placing your head on your knees. It wasn't long before someone sat next to you. "So... how long have you liked him?" "I hate you." "I didn't ask about me." "Last year, I guess." "You ever thought about telling him?" "You ever thought about combing your hair?" "Shut up." He pushes you gently, causing you to laugh. "You should tell him, though." "Yeah, when I'm 93 and about to die."" You're far too stubborn to die that young." "My mom said that to me once." "Tell him." "We're late to practice." You attempt to stand, but he grabs your bag before you can walk away. "I'll let you go if you agree to confess." "I'll consider it. Final offer." "Alright." When Yaku waves at you when you arrive, your cheeks flush more than usual. Maybe telling him wouldn't be so bad, even if he does reject you.
You're walking around campus aimlessly when he finds you, clearly lost in thought about something. "Hey, Y/N." He falls into stride beside you, matching your pace. "Oh, hey Yaku." You don't look at him. You decided 2 weeks ago to confess to him, but every time you try you pussy out. Even looking his way sent you through a haze of anxiety and embarrassment, so you've done your best to avoid him. It hurts both of you. "Is everything okay?" "Of course! Why wouldn't it be?" "I don't know you seem... distant. I miss you." "Things are fine, Yaku." "You're not mad at me?" "I'm not mad at you." You finally steel yourself to look him in the eye, offering him a sweet smile. He really doesn’t look like he believes you. "Have I ever lied to you?" "Well if you have, you're good enough at it that I don’t know... Have you?" "No. Not to you. Although, technically, I have lied about you." "Wait, what? When?" "Uh, Lev asked me a couple weeks ago if I had a crush on anyone. I told him I didn't." You were really about to do this. If only your heart would shut up for 3 seconds. "How does that have anything to do with me?" "Because...it’s you. I have a crush on you, Yaku." He stopped moving, almost stopped breathing. Did you just say- is he dreaming? "Oh Christ, I really shouldn't have said that. I'm just gonna go lie in a river." "Wait." You turn back to face him, chewing your lip anxiously. "I have a crush on you, too." Suddenly, your confidence rushes back and you lean in close to him. "Oh? Then what are you gonna do about it?" He doesn't quite think in the split second between the end of your sentence and his lips meeting yours, doesn't quite register exactly what he's doing. Not until you pull back and rush off like he hadn't just kissed you. "Wait, why are you running? You confess to me, I kiss you, and you run away? That’s not how this works!" Neither of you see two of your friends watching, Kuroo with a delighted smirk and Kenma with his usual bored expression. When the two of you walk into practice the next day, hand in hand, they're the first to cheer. (Kenma's is quiet and sounds disinterested, but you know it’s heartfelt anyway.)

Here’s the fanfic I wrote yesterday...
Sorry it took me a bit to post this, my girlfriend came over and then we got distracted with videogames... and... then I ran out of energy to edit this puppy...
So without further ado, a late Valentine’s gift to all you lovely people who follow me out there...
A Blooming Romance [A Liquidator x Bushroot Fanfiction]
(Transferred from my Wattpad Drafts)
The rain trickled over the glass making up the greenhouse. Spike laid dormant by his owner and best friend he so loyally stayed by through thick and thin. Sighing as he lifted a leaf of his rose bush, Bushroot sat limply over the delicate plant. Spike tilted his head, approaching Bushroot as he sulked over the rosy reds growing so beautifully.
Nudging his arm, Spike wriggled himself into Bushroot's space. With a lick over his cheek, Bushroot's sullen look of shame evaporated into a soft smile. "Oh Spike, at least I have you through it all."
Spike nodded as he knocked Bushroot onto his back with a pounce. "AH!" He yelped being flung backwards. Succumbing to his friend's demands, he lifted his leafy hands to pet Spike's head.
"Feeling lonely? Only have your pet as a companion in life? Wanna have some wet, wild fun with your watery wonder of a partner in crime?" The gurgled voice of the well known water dog startled Bushroot from his moment with Spike.
Leaning his head back to look where the voice came from. "Oh! It's you! W-W-What are you doing here? Is Negaduck doing a heist today?" Bushroot became excited at the hope of being distracted from the dreary day.
"As vile and hateful as he is, I'm sorry to say I haven't heard anything from Negaduck all day. It seems this Valentine's Day shall go without the evil escapades of the five of us." Liquidator shook his head and pretended to brush dirt off his arm. As he approached his leafy green friend, Bushroot had gotten onto his feet.
"Darn it... Well then that brings me back to my original question!" Bushroot furrowed his brows.
"Hm, well my company's Valentine's special sales are skyrocketing, and I figured I would have something to do today, but it seems all I have is just my money and my shallow company to keep me company." Liquidator started off bragging. His expression saddened a little as he saw Bushroot's bemusement. "And, it seems sometimes even a million dollar company isn't enough to satisfy the humble heart of this hound dog." He splashed his hands to his chest as he gestured.
Bushroot scoffed. "Oh, so I suppose you want my help kidnapping some sad sap so you can have a little fun today?" He knew it was close to improbable that he would really have any fun of his own today.
"Hey now! I may be clever and villainous but that doesn't mean I don't believe in consent! After all, I am very prideful of my position on the top of the Capitalist lifestyle. And what more is Capitalism than even the poorest of the poor being able to choose as little as what water they drink?" Liquidator defended himself.
"T-That's n-not exactly corre-"
"SO! What do you say, my dear partner in crime? Would you like to join me for a night on the town? The evening may be young but there's nothing wrong with starting our romantic outing early!"
"Are you asking me out on a date with you?" Bushroot seemed appalled at first, he'd never been asked out by a man before, well there was that one time in college, but he already had his eyes set on a lovely young lady from the technologies field.
"I think you owe me your answer first before I give you mine." Liquidator smirked deviously.
"Uhhh..." Bushroot felt his heart skip a beat, his cheeks growing as red as the roses beside him. He hadn't thought in all his time of working alongside Liquidator that he'd ever be interested like this. At one point, he'd thought that there would maybe be something between them, after all they went so well together, it was almost fate that they'd both been mutated into their current forms! But Liquidator came off as such a square of a man, nothing more than the stereotypical heterosexual businessman who may even go so far to take bribes from all the worst people, worse than even the dreadful Dr. Slug!
"Well?" Liquidator pulled Bushroot from his flustered silence.
"S-Sure!" He blurted out, shaking from his nerves at the idea of being asked out by someone so confident. He immediately felt himself going down the slippery slope of his usual routine when it came to new people being in his life. He shook off the toxic temptations of growing dependent upon his date for the night. He didn't want to come off too strong. Taking a deep breath, he looked up to Liquidator.
"So it's a date then! Shall we be on our way?" So smoothly as he normally did, he locked arms with his Bushy compatriot.
"Oh, y-yes! Spike, please watch the house while we're out?"
With a nod of confirmation, the two mutants were out in the rainy world.
_
Darkwing Duck had gotten a call to a local restaurant about two very uniquely unmistakable villains hijacking a normal Valentine's Day dinner service.
Having done his normal entrance, he now held his iconic gas gun pointed at Bushroot and Liquidator, who previously sat peacefully at a table. "Stay seated and surrender, or suck gas you sultry sickos!"
"Oh, can't we just have one nice dinner without you bugging in? You're no better than a parasitic case of morning glories!" Bushroot rolled his eyes and slammed his hand to the table below him.
"Lonely? Bitter? Why don't you mind your own business or face the wrath of the Liquidator!" The Liquidator announced as he began winding up to attack the cape-cladded duck.
"Say, since we haven't ordered dinner yet, why don't we just make our own? Pan-Seared Duck, anybody?" Bushroot lifted the candle alongside the wooden roses that had been decoration at their table.
"Wouldn't that hurt the roses though, Bushy?" Liquidator paused in concern.
"No worries, these are nothing more than flammable fakes! Created from the mulched remains of long lost brethren. If anything, this is actually pretty poetic!" Bushroot explained as he set the bushel of roses alight.
"Amazing." Liquidator said softly under his breath as he watched his date's face glowing from the flames.
"Hey! You love sick losers, either surrender or risk being humiliated by the stunning strength of Darkwing Du-UCK!" Darkwing dropped to the floor, dodging the burning bouquet that had been chucked at his face.
By this time, it was only the three of them in the restaurant, 1 v 2, Darkwing Duck was surely overpowered. He yelped as he was chased all around the restaurant, now struggling to get control of the situation. Just as he was about to get ahead of the game with a fire extinguisher and a sponge from the kitchen, all power went out inside of the building, leaving them in the darkness.
Bushroot struggled to find his nearly crystal clear date, but his bewilderment didn't last long as he felt a cooling grasp wrap around his waste as he was carried out of the building, leaving the real loser behind.
Stopping on top of an abandoned tower's rooftop, Liquidator put Bushroot down.
They stared silently at the city-scape below for a moment before Bushroot broke the silence.
"That was the most fun I've had while on a dinner date EVER!" He chuckled as he looked at his date.
"Anytime you want a good time, all you have to do is call!" Liquidator smiled at Bushroot as he imitated holding a phone to his ear.
"W-Why do you suppose the power went out back there?" Bushroot glanced over the blackened city scape. "It seems we weren't the only ones who dealt with a blackout..."
"Hm, seems you're right, I wonder if Megavolt is going to town with one of his devices..."
"Gross." Bushroot shook his head in disgust.
"Says the one who went on a date with a man made of water." Liquidator nudged Bushroot lightly.
"Hey! T-That's different, my date is actually a living being! Way better than any c-cold-hearted robotic piece of machinery that that cooky rat fawns over...!" Bushroot paused for a moment as he thought to himself.
"Uh-huh." Liquidator began humming in disbelieving agreeance as Bushroot went on.
"He's super handsome, for one thing, really suave and intelligent, he also has a great personality, he knows when it's time to get serious and when it's time to have fun. He's also very slick and clever..." Bushroot's words faded as he looked to his date who nodded with a cocky smirk gliding over his muzzle. "What?" He asked nervously fidgeting with his hands.
"Bushroot, I know how you can be with people, you're very clingy and you often care too much." Liquidator started.
Bushroot slumped and began to feel his heart race as he felt his nerves go up. Had he come on too strong? His mind began to race with all the anxious thoughts that had not plagued him since his fling with Posey.
"So I want you to know something. Don't worry about being overly clingy, because regardless, I'm committed to you just like I am to my business. I may seem cold and uncaring at times but just know that no matter what, you're the only one I want. I mean, I don't exactly believe in fate but think about it, we're perfect for each other. You're a plant, I'm living water, it's almost too much to accept us as simply a coincidence!" Liquidator went on.
Bushroot's heart was toyed with as one minute it was racing from him being nervous to him being romantically enthused. Liquidator stopped himself, turning to Bushroot he reached out his paw and to hold Bushroot's leafy green hand.
"All this to say, I know it's too soon to say it but-"
"I love you." Bushroot cut him off.
"Hey! I was gonna say that!" Liquidator snapped back playfully.
"T-Too bad! I-I-I said it first!" Bushroot smiled meekly, hoping to not mess anything up.
"Hm, seems I'll have to take another first in retaliation, huh?" Liquidator cocked an eyebrow at Bushroot as he thought to himself.
"O-Oh? And what first would that be?" Bushroot's demeanor changed to being more submissive as he prepared for the worst.
"Oh nothing, but after all that action, wouldn't you like to lie down and rest?" Liquidator suggested.
"O-On this floor!? Oh I-"
"Bushroot, you sleep on literal dirt, I don't think this is very different, but here..." The Liquidator then shot up and power-blasted a clearing on the dirty roof just to appease his date.
"Whoa... I-I-I guess a little rest wouldn't hurt... besides, knowing that egomaniac, Darkwing is probably out looking for us..." Bushroot slowly lowered himself on the clean patch. "I guess you could say in this case it's best to lay low for a while, huh?" Laughing nervously, he watched as the Liquidator shook his head at his pun.
Laying next to Bushroot, the Liquidator took his date's hand. "May I have you answer a survey for me?" He asked, gazing over the stars above.
"S-Sure! It won't hurt!" Bushroot smiled carelessly.
"On a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate this date?" He began.
"Definitely a 10!" Bushroot nodded.
"How would you rate your man of the night?" Liquidator went on.
"Mmmm, that's a tricky one..." The Liquidator looked intrigued as Bushroot hummed in thought. "I'd say your rating scale hardly cuts it for my answer, but I suppose I'll settle on a mere 10!"
The Liquidator smirked, if he was able to, he'd be blushing. "Oh, why thank you..." He responded, holding back a flattered chuckle. Clearing his throat he went on. "How- I mean-" He quickly pulled himself back together. "Would you go on another date with me?"
"Oh, that's easy! Of course I would!" Bushroot beams.
"Excellent, any final comments or questions before I conclude this survey?" Liquidator grinned.
"Hmmm, well, next time we should totally show Darkwing what for! And also..." Bushroot looked away from the night sky above, clearer than it normally was without the light pollution. "Thank you."
"What for?" Liquidator asked curiously.
"Taking a chance on an old plant duck like myself... most wouldn't care to."
"It was only a matter of time before I got the courage to ask you out." The water dog shrugged nonchalantly.
Bushroot scoffed. "You? Needing courage?"
As if on cue, Liquidator chimed. "It's more likely than you think!"
"I don't believe it!" Bushroot rolled his eyes.
"Better believe it!" The Liquidator rolled over and hovered his face over Bushroot's. Leaning in closer, the Liquidator stopped as his muzzle was about to meet Bushroot's bill. "Or should I get a scientist to back up my claims?" He said in a low voice.
Bushroot's face went red as he became flustered. "I-I-I-I-I uh, um, well..." He sputtered, stuttered, and stammered until his bill was closed by a kiss. Bushroot's eyes widened in shock, before he relaxed and enjoyed the moment.
Moving away from Bushroot's mouth, the Liquidator rolled off of him. "Now we're even."
Bushroot sat up and stared at Liquidator with a shocked expression, beak agape in a struggle to find the words to say.
"What do you say we take refuge at my place until the morning comes?" The Liquidator lifted Bushroot up onto his feet.
"Oh! u-uh sure! Of course! Yeah! Uh, I mean... sure." Bushroot quickly cooled his excitement.
"No time to waste! The night is still young so we ought to act fast!" Liquidator scooped Bushroot into his arms again and carried him back to his home far above the streets.
"H-Hey look! The city has power again!" Bushroot pointed out as Liquidator made his way over the rooftops to his company's sky scraper.
"Oh! It must have been our electrifying kiss that brought the city to life again!" Liquidator said slyly. Bushroot immediately cringed at the awful pun.
"Don't start with electricity puns! That's Megavolt's thing." Bushroot shook his head.
"Maybe so, but I do it right!" The Liquidator and Bushroot went back and forth well into the night, staying up far past midnight to just talk and joke and laugh in a new way never before done. A new love washing onto shore with the delicacy of a blooming rose.

When Ashes Fall p.3
Pairing: Reaper/female Reader
Summary: You are a combat medic working for Overwatch, when a mission goes south and you cross paths with Talon mercenary Reaper. But will he kill you on the spot or is there more to this encounter?
Rating: 18+
Tags/Warnings: rape/non-con, violence, blood, emotional manipulation, blackmail, kidnapping
Word count: 52,215 (in 5 parts)
A/N: the warnings are clear on this one. Yes, there is going to be rape/non-con, and it’s going to get explicit. I strongly advise anyone who is not into that kind of story to turn back around, because this is going to get pretty heavy and will finally be the non-con story with Reaper that I had always wanted to write.
Part 3 / 5 (part 1, part 2, part 4, part 5)
***
You got ready for another day at the lab, trying to forget all about last night. Be a good little assistant to very important Dr. O’Deorain.
Casey was her cheerful self as she greeted you over the bagel she had snuck inside the lab while she cast around slightly nervous glances as the doctor had chided her once for bringing food into her lab.
“It’s silly, don’t you think? It’s not even touching anything. I’m always careful.” With a small roll of her eyes she popped the last bite into her mouth, then wiped her hands on her white coat. “So what’s up, how did that op go?”
You frowned at the mention of the mission.
“It uh, it was a success,” you offered, as you went to sit down at one of the tables with lab equipment.
“Yeah, so I’ve heard.” She followed you to the workstation and sat down next to you, but only after pushing her chair a little closer to yours. Then she leaned in and lowered her voice. “I heard that you had to work with Reaper.”
Oh no.
You raised your gaze to hers, pleading with your eyes to not go there, but she just pushed her glasses up her nose and raised her eyebrows at you.
“Well, what is he like? I’ve heard so many different things about him, and I want to know which of it is true.” With a huff, she sat back in her chair, one finger at her chin and casting her eyes towards the ceiling in thought. “I only ever see him when he’s, you know—” She motioned towards the empty examination table in the middle of the room. “—when he’s knocked out.”
Your eyes followed to where she pointed. Unsure what to tell her you asked her to specify instead.
“Well, what have you heard?” Maybe she’d get that you didn’t feel like talking about it the more you got her to rant.
“That he,” She got closer again. “That he drains people.”
A shiver ran down your spine.
“They say that when you’re lucky, he’ll shoot you with those shotguns he carries around. But if not, he’ll leave you a husk.” By the end of her sentence she was almost whispering, like she was telling a ghost story by the campfire.
A husk. That was kind of what you’d felt like after that encounter.
Your gaze fell to the floor. “I actually didn’t see him in action, he went alone. I was simply...patching him back up after it was all done.”
Casey sat back, her curious expression turning to one of disappointment. “Oh well, what a shame. I bet he’s really scary in action.”
You couldn’t believe her. As if working alongside a homicidal murderer was anything but terrifying and to avoid at all cost. Scary wasn’t even beginning to cut it. Red shining orbs flitted through your memory and had you suppress a shiver.
“Yeah, I guess.” You answered meekly.
“Are you alright?” Casey cocked her head to the side, the messy bun on her head flipping along.
“Sure, I’m just tired.” It was true, you were still feeling drained from all the healing you’d had to do. You wouldn’t be up to your normal self for at least another day, that was for sure.
“How bad was it? I remember once when he was here—you should have seen it—he’d been barely able to hold shape, it had seemed like his entire left arm was missing.” She shook herself in abhorrence. “But, as usual, he made a full recovery. If you can call it that, I suppose.”
You winced. Surely, it couldn’t have been worse than what you’d seen the night before. The image of that dark mass, mist swirling around and shifting in and out of human shape, would haunt you for the rest of your life.
“It was pretty bad.” What an understatement. “But, aside from the worst of his wounds, he seemed to be able to heal himself pretty effectively. How exactly does he do that?” Now that you remembered, he had not called upon you for the first half hour or so, until the mist had finally decided on where to take form.
Casey blew out a frustrated breath. “I wouldn’t know. Dr. O’Deorain doesn’t tell me the details of her work on him. Only the necessary parts, to get him back into shape. But what is in the serum that I administer, I don’t know. She’s very secretive about that project of hers.”
Well, whatever was in it seemed to be responsible for the state he was in, you were sure of it. Wraith serum, your brain helpfully provided, and you suppressed a sarcastic laugh. Ridiculous!
The rest of your day was uneventful, thankfully. You worked alongside Casey in the lab to get some tests done on a few blood samples, put a couple of liquids in the centrifuge and took notes while Casey examined slides under the microscope. It was nice. Distraction.
Only when you went to bed that evening, new nightmares plagued you. They came every night now. Terrifying you in different ways. Sometimes your mind provided a visual manifestation of your fears, but mostly it was just this feeling of darkness creeping over you, consuming you in every possible way and stealing the air from your lungs. Replacing precious oxygen with black mist that made you feel like drowning.
Every early morning you woke with a start, sometimes with a hoarse shout, other times with your breath choking on a silent scream. Always with a frantically beating heart that would take a while to calm down. This was starting to adversely affect the amount of rest you got. You felt tired all the time, when you tried to concentrate it was almost impossible to focus for more than five minutes. All of that was giving you regular headaches now.
Today marked a week since your mission with Reaper. You wiped at moist eyes after this night’s terror. Sluggishly, you got to the bathroom and took a quick shower. Those always helped to calm you down, to get the adrenalin out of your bloodstream.
When you were ready and dressed, you made your way to the lab, where Casey was already pipetting on the work table. She was always present when you got in, it was almost like she was sleeping there. First to come, last to leave.
“Morning, Casey. Already at it again, huh?”
She answered without looking away from where she was currently squeezing blue liquid onto a clear gel. “Yep, you know me. Always working.”
You smiled to yourself, Casey was the one constant in your life right now that made you feel an inkling of normalcy. In another life you might have even called her a friend. But here, at Talon, you weren’t naïve enough to believe even for a second that any one of those people thought you to be more than a tool.
The smile on your face fell flat, and you turned away to get a lab coat from the small locker in the corner. As you opened the narrow metallic door, the fine hairs at the back of your neck stood on end. A rhythmic droning was growing louder, foreboding and practically freezing you to the spot. Your eyes were staring unseeing at the coats when the door to the lab burst open.
You already knew who had entered the room, even without looking. The thunderous sound had been footsteps, you realized.
Shaking yourself minutely, you grabbed a coat, shrugged it on and closed the locker door silently.
Dr. O’Deorain had entered, her usual severe look on her face, followed by no one other than Reaper.
Your heart dropped. Somehow you had hoped to never see him again, even if it was delusional. He was dressed in his usual getup, right from the white mask on his face to thick black boots on his feet.
“Good morning,” Casey said cheerfully in greeting as she swiveled around on her stool with a smile, pipette still in hand. You didn’t miss how she took extra care to momentarily pause her work for the doctor.
“Yes, yes. Serum administration in two minutes,” Dr. O’Deorain said dismissively while she walked towards a table in the far corner. Reaper was already sitting down on the examination table, his armour creaking and clanking faintly.
You still stood with your back to the locker, not realizing that you had pressed yourself against it. Now that Reaper had sat down, he saw you. But he made no sign of acknowledgement aside from a small tilt of his head in recognition. Your heart had started to pound quite frantically.
Maybe you could excuse yourself, tell the doctor that you were ill or something. But just as you were about to open your mouth to ask, did Dr. O’Deorain address you.
“Please, come over here.”
Hesitantly, you peeled yourself away from the locker and made your way over to where she was standing over something. It was your amplifying glove that she had given you.
“Yes, doctor?”
“I would like for you to demonstrate how you use the glove. Testing has been rather rudimentary.” She sounded thoughtful, then lifted the object and proffered it to you. “The results from yesterday speak for themselves,” She went on with the faintest hint of a proud smile, “but I want to observe it myself.”
Your eyes darted from the glove to her face.
“Yeah, about that,” You began, and picked up the item carefully, but did not put it on yet. “It doesn’t seem to work.”
Dr. O’Deorain frowned.
“Nonsense. You used it, didn’t you?”
“I tried, but it hurt too much, too quickly.”
She looked mildly upset with that frown of hers as she made a thoughtful sound. Finally, she seemed to have come to a conclusion.
“You will show me, only that way I’ll know what might be wrong with it.” And with those final words she went to the corner and approached a cabinet. Her long fingers deftly entered a code and with a small beep, the door opened for her. Inside was quite a big apparatus that she grabbed and put on like a backpack. There were gloves attached to it as well and she proceeded to put them on. With a final tug at her left hand, she approached Reaper who was still sitting on the table, metal spikes and claws glinting faintly in the overhead lights.
About one and a half meters away from him she came to a stop, her left hand extended in front and aimed at the man on the table. Then something clicked and you could see an instantaneous connection between Reaper and Dr. O’Deorain. It was a kind of beam, very thin and purple-ish in color.
Reaper jerked and grunted when the beam connected with him. It was gyrating and twisting maliciously as it moved from him towards the doctor.
The sound he’d made had you bite down on your cheek, a faint pain blossoming in your mouth, the taste of blood spread and you swallowed subconsciously. You took a small step backwards, eyes glued to the now faintly purple glowing mask of Reaper, whose head snapped in your direction at your movement. It made you stop in your tracks, commanded your attention. As he was staring at you and the doctor used that beam on him, you could hear his clawed hands tightening on the metal of the table. The scratching sound was like nails on chalkboard, goosebumps rose on your arms in discomfort and you hugged yourself.
The urge to get out was making you tremble.
On the doctor’s back, the apparatus was equipped with a big, clear tube that was slowly starting to fill with purple liquid, or was it mist? You couldn’t tell. The longer she held that beam active, the more of the tube was filled. But it seemed to also have an effect on Reaper. He was starting to bend forward, his arms were slightly shaking where he gripped the table edge hard enough to leave marks, and his breath came in short huffs. He seemed to be in pain.
Your eyes wandered from Reaper’s hunched over form toward that of Dr. O’Deorain’s, who was still standing tall with her arm stretched out and connected with that beam of hers. Her face was gleaming in delight, eyes wide, her mouth split in a grin and in that moment you realized that this woman was just as dangerous as that masked maniac sitting to your right.
“Yes,” she said softly, almost inaudible over the hum of the beam. What was she doing? With a worried glance you checked for Casey, who was watching the whole ordeal from her seat not too far away, and—was she taking notes?
Abruptly, the humming stopped, the purple light vanished and the doctor withdrew her arm with a satisfied smile. She studied her left hand for a second, before her sharp, mismatched eyes met yours.
“All right, it’s your turn,” She addressed you curtly and nodded toward the amplifying glove.
“What—” You looked between her and Reaper uncertainly. “What was that?”
She chuckled as she removed her equipment and stowed it away again.
“This piece of cutting edge technology is my Biotic Grasp.” She explained, pride evident in her voice. With a swift motion, she produced a small drone from her pocket and placed it in mid air in front of her, where the little machine started to float and whirr softly. Next to her lay a data pad that she used to command the drone and have it float towards Reaper, little laser beams scanning his vitals.
You still stood there, a good few meters away from either of them, your hands balled into fists.
Dr. O’Deorain watched the data pad intently, while she kept explaining. “The beam you just saw is a derivative of the nanite technology, not unlike the one you have. But instead of regenerating someone, it does the opposite: it saps their energy. Their life force.”
Holy shit.
“I never understood why it was the medic’s duty to offer so much of themselves, when all the required energy is around, ripe for the taking. To redistribute as one sees fit. Enemies are always aplenty, especially in combat situations.”
Her monologue had you realize that she herself must have been a combat medic at one point.
“With this technology, I can equip anybody to do the required work, no training necessary.” A few taps to the pad and the drone hovered around Reaper to his backside, still scanning busily.
“I even managed to go further than that.” Her eyes flashed, your heartbeat accelerated. “I was able to directly implement this technology into the human body.” She laid aside the data pad and approached Reaper, who was still visibly struggling to even sit straight. Her hand reached out and boldly removed his mask.
Black mist rose in plumes from the hood, but from where you stood, you couldn’t see anything, his head was turned down and the darkness was hiding his features.
“It does still have a few... side effects,” she murmured, then used one finger underneath Reaper’s chin to lift his head enough for you to see his face.
You held your breath.
This was the first time when no smoke could conceal him, no darkness; when you were fully conscious and your sight not hindered by anything. The first time had been glances into a dark pond, in the twilight of evening, where the depths of it had been nigh invisible and only the blood red moon had been reflected on its surface. The second time was during midday, the sunrays penetrating the water and illuminating the very ground of the pond, even though it was still murky.
But this time?
This time it was as if the entire pond had been emptied, the unforgiving sun had evaporated all the water, only a few traces of mist remained. And you could see everything.
His eyes were currently closed, a deep frown edged into his brow and a scowl twisted his mouth and revealed pearly white sharp teeth.
The scars were even more prominent now than they had previously been, they were numerous and seemed to be very old. He’d have looked like a normal man—who had gone through some rough shit—hadn’t it been for the greyish tint to his skin that made him look deceased.
Finally, his eyes opened, slowly blinking upward towards the light.
Again, your heart dropped.
The garish lamps overhead cast their light directly into the red orbs of his eyes, making them glow brighter than you’d ever seen before. He blinked once, then their fiery red fell onto Dr. O’Deorain.
She still had her index finger underneath his chin, tilted his face towards herself, and beckoned for the little drone to approach. The small lasers scanned Reaper’s retinas, he didn’t even blink; he simply stared ahead, seeing right through the doctor.
Now that you could see his face in its entirety, you got the feeling that he looked familiar. But you couldn’t remember how.
The little drone beeped softly, signalling that its scan was complete, and Dr. O’Deorain let go of the man in front of her to once again consult the data pad.
Slowly, Reaper let his head fall forward again, but not before his eyes found yours.
It was like staring into the eyes of the devil. Had you been Catholic, you’d have crossed yourself. Even so, the urge to do it made you hug yourself even tighter.
You couldn’t look away, even though he was obviously weakened by whatever the doctor had done to him, he was still able to hold himself up. Slowly, his mouth opened, even more black mist rising from it, like cigarette smoke. Paired with the look he gave you it was very...suggestive.
You bristled and averted your eyes.
Casey was still busily writing things down from where she sat a few meters away.
“Go on now,” Dr. O’Deorain reminded you impatiently from the left.
You couldn’t postpone it any longer, with an internal sigh, you went and put on the doctor’s glove. Casting wary glances at Reaper, you went as far as was necessary, which was still closer than you liked, extended your arm and prepared yourself for the worst.
Unsure of where to aim—there were no visible wounds or anything—you directed the gentle golden spray at his chest, where it dissipated into nothing on contact. After a few seconds, he was already starting to relax, his grip on the table was loosening, as were his drawn shoulders. The scowl on his face remained though, that was probably permanent...
Just when Reaper released a quiet breath of relief, did you feel the numbness spread out and up your entire arm. This time, the following pain came with a vengeance.
You tried to suppress the grunt, but it came so quickly and unbidden, that it was impossible. Reaper seemed to be studying you now, no longer looking through you. His red eyes were jumping from your hand, to your forearm, and finally landed on your face.
As his breathing was becoming calmer and easier, yours was starting to grow heavy. Keeping your arm extended was proving to be too much already, you had to use the other arm for support, wondering when this was done.
All the while Dr. O’Deorain was standing to your right, rapt with attention at witnessing her creation.
“I—I can’t. This is too much,” you ground out and already wanted to move away again, but suddenly the doctor pulled you into her and took a firm hold of your arms.
“You’re not done yet,” she said right next to your ear and a shiver ran through you at the memory of those same words spoken by the very man sitting in front of you.
The sheer surprise of having the doctor reacting in that way and to manhandle you like that, had you in shock. For someone who was usually sitting in a lab, she was surprisingly strong. The grip she was having on you was unforgiving.
Now you were left to watch as the spray kept coming, your arm was cramping up so badly you wondered if it was ever going to relax again.
As your eyes were now fixed on your arm, held tightly in Dr. O’Deorain’s grip, you saw your veins standing out in dark contrast to your skin. They were shimmering with a bluish tint.
“Hng!” you exclaimed. The pain was almost intolerable. “Please, doctor—”
“Just a little more.”
You whimpered, face scrunched up in agony.
Then you heard Reaper snarl, your eyes shot up to his face, black mist was starting to rise from him again. The look on his face was exuding annoyance. His hand came forward to snatch your arm out of the doctor’s grip; she was just as surprised as you were, because she let go immediately, letting him pull you away from her.
Even though he was still wearing his gauntlets, he was able to deftly peel off the glove from your numb hand with ease. His claws left white marks where they lightly scratched against your skin, but you barely felt it.
You just stood there, passively letting him work, watching while you caught your breath.
When he had finally managed to remove the glove completely, he flung it at Dr. O’Deorain, who caught it with an almost comical expression of surprise.
“Back to the drawing board, doc,” he said drily.
Watching the many emotions flitting over Dr. O’Deorain’s face was both alarming, but also strangely satisfying.
With a final huff of indignation, the doctor turned on her heel, glove in hand, and made a beeline for the exit.
Almost immediately, Casey jumped up from her spot and hurried after the doctor and out of the lab.
You grimaced.
A light tug on your hand made you realize that Reaper was still holding it, now examining the many purple veins adorning your skin.
Now that the glove was off, you could finally see the full damage it had wrought. With a shocked gasp, you reflexively pulled free of the man’s loose hold on you and studied your skin with horror.
The discoloration wasn’t like anything you’d ever seen before. Like ugly bruises they were criss-crossing all over your skin. Were these going to be permanent, would they be there until the end of your life?
Tears threatened to spill from your burning eyes. This was a nightmare...it couldn’t be true. Your arm looked like it was dying, like it could fall off any minute now.
Feeling faint, you backed up until you hit the workbench behind you, felt blindly for a stool and slowly sank down onto it. But even though your world was crashing down around you, no tears were coming.
“This is all your fault,” you accused Reaper. Instead of breaking down in tears, your body decided it was feeling aggressive instead, and even though you were mostly angry at the doctor right now, the only one whom you could antagonize was Reaper. And you had enough reason to be mad at him, too.
There was no reaction from where he still sat on the examination table. Why was he still here, anyway?
“If it hadn’t been for you, I’d be with my friends right now, drinking coffee and doing fun shit or something.” Well, it was partially true. There wasn’t always a lot of time for people in Overwatch to actually do anything besides training, paper work, or going on missions. But there had been the occasional meetup over coffee and a nice piece of strawberry cake.
“If it hadn’t been for me, you’d be dead,” Reaper finally answered in his gravelly voice, then got off the table to land on the floor with a loud thud from his steel boots.
Your head whipped around to glare at him.
“Better off dead than being a pawn for terrorists and murderers!”
The man crossed his arms in front of himself, the scowl on his face deepening. “You think working for Overwatch is morally superior?”
“Obviously.”
He tsked.
“Overwatch is a joke. Always has been.”
“Right, I bet you know all about it,” you said sarcastically, idly rubbing your right arm back to life.
“I do.”
All right, you would bite.
“How?”
“I was there.” He reached for his abandoned mask that lay on the workbench beside you, heavy footsteps making you tense as he approached.
“Before it was disbanded, Overwatch was a giant façade for some of the richest people in the world to play war.” Mask in hand, he looked at it pensively. “We all were pawns for them, given the illusion of being in command. We were, sort of. I commanded my team in the shadows, we were the ones who didn’t even have to play by Overwatch’s official rules.”
Slowly, you realized he was talking about Blackwatch and goosebumps rose on your skin. It couldn’t be. Maybe that’s why he seemed so familiar.
Finally, he looked at you, but his eyes were far away, in the past.
“The ones up top, those we never got to meet, they were pulling the strings. And we were the expendable private militia they could send to their enemies in their stead.”
He turned to you. “Nothing we were told to do was ever for the greater good,” he finished, the light in his red eyes burning.
“Even if all of this were true, why not fight it from the inside then? Instead, you decided to go full maniac and became an official bad guy?” You were treading on thin ice, but he must have been lying to you. Never before had you heard any of these accusations, they sounded baseless and frankly, ludicrous.
You were familiar with Overwatch history, at least the official stories they’d taught you at the beginning at orientation. Had they omitted these details?
The ghost of a smile flitted across his features. “I decided to fight fire with fire.” Then he leaned against the tabletop with his claws resting against its surface, aligning himself to you two side by side with just a few meters in between.
You snorted.
“Is this why you run around dressed like that?” You pointed at his getup, it felt good to poke fun at him like this. But you were also wary about how far you could to push him.
But even as you spoke that last sentence, Reaper suddenly narrowed his eyes at you. It wasn’t in anger, though, but rather in intrigue. He was staring openly at your neck. Self-consciously, you let go of your right arm to reach up to the spot instead.
It was the same one that Ogundimu had inspected after your mission. This particular memory, how he had brushed away your hair, it opened the floodgates to all the other things that had happened on that night.
You were shocked that he was still able to see it. When you’d tried to catch a glimpse of it in a mirror, it was almost impossible because of its position so far back. And the mission had been like a week ago, the mark—whatever it was—should have faded by now.
“I’ve gotta go,” you blurted and abruptly stood from the stool, almost toppling it over in your haste.
You didn’t get very far, your wrist was gripped tightly by a hard, cold steel gauntlet stopping you from leaving. In a state of shock and disbelief you saw your badly discolored arm in his claws around it, and like a wild animal caught in a snare, your body went into fight or flight mode.
With jerking movements, you pulled hard to get free, you threw your entire weight away from where he held you and even kicked at him.
“Stop that,” he grunted, but only sounded mildly disgruntled, and somehow that made you calm down enough to stop your struggling.
“Let me go,” you demanded, emphasizing your point with a tug. But he didn’t let go. Instead, he studied your damaged hand.
“I must know…” he said ominously and removed one gauntlet with his teeth. It clattered on the tabletop noisily, making you jump. The skin of his hand was darker than that of his face, you noticed, as he used the pads of three fingers to lightly touch your bluish forearm.
“W—what are you doing?” You demanded to know, trying to pull away again.
He hummed darkly in thought, tracing small patterns on your skin. The motion sent shivers up your arm and through your entire body. Your eyes anxiously darted between where he was currently touching you and his face. The sensation was disconcerting, but also—you were hesitant to admit—kind of pleasant. A faint blush spread on your cheeks.
All of a sudden, he used the grip he had on your wrist to pull you a little closer and took a hold of your other hand as well.
“Hey!” you exclaimed, and once again tried to break free. And once again, failed.
With all the time in the world, and the strength of a fucking machine, he raised your good arm and laid your hand against the side of his neck, then held it in place.
Now you were...touching him, you felt so repelled by the mere thought of it, that your face twisted in abhorrence.
“Heal me,” he commanded in a low voice.
The audacity. Anger rose up inside you.
“Fuck you!” You uttered with vigor and stubbornly held still without doing a thing for him. What would he need healing for, anyway; you’d just healed him mere minutes ago. He was insatiable!
He growled.
“Do it.”
You pushed your luck.
“No.”
The two of you stared at each other in varying degrees of frustration.
What were you doing? Reaper could easily tear you apart if he so desired, why were you defying him like that? A small voice answered how the last time you healed him through direct touch it resulted in things that still caused you nightmares to this day.
With a snarl, the man pulled you into him and to the side, to push you on top of the examination table. He followed closely, to pin both your wrists to the tabletop, right next to your head. You lay there awkwardly, while your upper body was on the table, your feet still touched the ground lightly, and Reaper now stood over you, holding you down. He was right in your face, too.
“Do you have a death wish, girl?” He was furious, the glowing red orbs of his eyes were burning brightly, dark mist was rising off of him in waves. You guessed he wasn’t used to people not following his orders. All you could do was stare, your head was still spinning from where it had hit the steel table. It hurt like a bitch. Your spine too, how it was bent so uncomfortably.
When you didn’t answer fast enough, his eyes narrowed, his gaze flitted over your face. Finally, he shifted, moved in between your legs so they fell open and around his thighs.
Your blush deepened and your heart stuttered.
“Or is it something else you wish for,” he murmured, eyes falling to your lips.
Oh god, no.
You blinked through the headache and weakly started to struggle again. Of course, you couldn’t even move him a millimeter.
“Nng—don’t…” you gasped, averting your eyes to the side when you couldn’t dislodge him.
Surprisingly, he let go of your wrists, instead his fingers tilted your head towards him. You would never get used to these eyes, you thought, as you were forced to look into them once more.
“Heal me,” he repeated himself, a solemn expression on his ashen face.
You shivered, silently pleading for him to just stop. But the determination in his eyes told you that he was ready to go as far as he needed in order to get what he wanted.
You swallowed the lump in your throat.
Arm shaking, you slowly reached for his face. That was the only place where you could touch his skin, and as you did so you had to push down the fear of the consequences. He was watching your hand as it moved, the last centimeter was the hardest part. You were hoping he might help by closing the distance, but he stayed in place. Then you finally touched him, your fingers twitching.
Concentrating on your breathing, which was way too fast, you sent out a gentle wave of healing. It took only a second before Reaper closed his eyes and exhaled in satisfaction.
His breath faintly brushed against your face, he was that close.
You kept the healing stream low on purpose, you’d already given it your all to heal him with Dr. O’Deorain’s glove. No need to go all in this time.
To an outsider this must have looked like a scene between two lovers; the way he was bent over you and you practically cradling his face while he obviously enjoyed what you were doing… good thing there was nobody else present.
His eyes were still closed as you felt his fingers loosen their hold on your chin to gently brush down the front of your neck.
“W—wait,” you stammered and momentarily broke the contact on his face. As you had feared the direct healing was having the same effect on him as the last time.
The second your palm left his cheek, his eyes flew open and his still gloved hand shot up to press it back into place. “More,” he growled in that eerie, dark voice.
If you kept going like this you would collapse again, it was simply too much. That damn glove did something to your nanites that seemed to make them work in overdrive and use all your resources at once. At least that’s what it felt like.
“I think that’s enough,” you said meekly and simply stopped the healing output, glassy eyes staring at Reaper, probably not without an air of a challenge in them.
When he felt the healing stop altogether, Reaper scowled. “I say when it’s enough.”
“No!” You’ve had it up to here with him. “No, you don’t! I get to say when it’s done. And I say it is done,” you yelled and snatched your hand out of his to cradle against your chest. “I’m not your personal health pack!” Just damn this man to hell.
At your blatant display of insubordination, he went through multiple stages of disbelief and anger, followed by one of his growls.
In the blink of an eye he had grabbed you under the thighs and pushed you completely on top of the table, crawled over you, put a knee between your legs and pressed against your core roughly with how he held himself on top.
When you wanted to protest against him manhandling you like that, he simply brought his hand that was still in the gauntlet, up and around your throat, effectively cutting off any of your words. The only thing that left your mouth were short gasps now.
He bared his teeth at you, his fiery red orbs almost burning a hole through your skull.
You whimpered.
“I am—” he began loudly, then stopped to think over his words. “I haven’t felt... anything like this in…” he drifted off, eyes darting between different spots on your face. You wondered what he saw there, what he was trying to tell you all of a sudden. Not that you were the least bit interested to know the inner machinations of this utter lunatic. Maybe when this was all over you’d write a book about it, you would call it ‘My Life With The Murderer’.
Only that when this was going to be over, you’d likely be dead.
“Why do you do it?” The question startled you, what did he even mean? You’d done as he’d asked, you’d healed him. Simple as that.
Your frown deepening, you mouthed your answer and that’s when he must have realized that his heavy hand on your windpipe was hindering your speech. He loosened it just a fraction and you breathed in as deeply as it allowed you to.
“I don’t know what—”, you coughed, “what you mean.”
“No. You know,” he ground out and leaned forward a fraction. “Why, mariquita? Is it to weaken me, to catch me off guard?” He hummed, his voice had taken on a velvety smoothness to its coarse undertones and it made your shiver. “Someone set you up to do this.” Again, he searched your face while his eyes squinted. “Was it Akande, Maximilien?”
The way he seemed to be convinced that somebody had ordered you to, what, seduce him made you exhale in a short hysterical laugh. What utter nonsense.
But your laughing made him tighten the grip on your neck again, he didn’t seem to find this the least bit funny.
“If that is what you tried to achieve, then I’ll give them what they want.” And with those words he closed the distance to press his mouth against yours.
With wide eyes you stared into his, panic rising in your chest. The sheer malice on his face was not a good sign for what was about to come. Then you remembered that your hands were currently free and you pushed at him with all your might. But he just gripped your throat harder, the pressure inside your head was painful, and the lack of air had you open your mouth to gasp.
Reaper used that opening to lick inside and over your tongue. The smell and taste of him were assaulting your senses just like the constant pressure against your neck and groin. Failing to push him off, your hands flew to his wrist where he was cutting your airflow off instead.
Your eyes were burning, tears were gathering at the corners and a single one traced down the side of your face to disappear into your hairline. This was it, just a few more seconds and you’d suffocate. Black spots were dancing at the edges of your vision, your muscles spasmed with the lack of oxygen in your blood, and you whimpered.
When he pulled away it was like coming up from deep water, as if you broke its surface and could finally breathe again. Everything hurt, but especially your chest and your head. You moaned in pain in between deep breaths. The cold from the metallic examination table was seeping into your bones and had them ache as well.
It took you a little while to get your breathing under control again, your numb fingers had slipped off his gauntlet and fallen limply to the side, but he still had a secure hold on you. Finally, you managed to look him in the eyes again.
You were at his mercy once more, your life was literally in his hands. Already his grip threatened to tighten again.
When you tried to speak, it only came out as a whisper. “Please,” you swallowed and another tear ran down your face. “No more.”
You couldn’t do this again, the choking was a horror you hadn’t ever experienced before and it had you on edge so much you thought you might have a heart attack.
The malice that had previously distorted his face had ebbed down a bit, he seemed to be more pensive right now with how he was watching your face and let his gaze wander over your heaving chest. Finally, his gauntlet left your neck to brush down your front, claws scratching you unpleasantly and sending shivers down your spine.
Wordlessly, he moved his hand over your chest where your lab coat had fallen open and lightly squeezed your breast through your thin shirt, his talons dangerously close to piercing your skin.
You held your breath in fear, there was nothing you could do to deter him if he wanted to do... that to you, and the realization had you sniffling pathetically as you turned your head to the side.
Meanwhile his gauntlet moved further down your belly to push under the hem of your shirt. The cold, pointy ends of his claws made you shiver violently as they moved to where your bra was, bunching up your top in the process. The razor sharp tips of his talons made short work of your bra, it snapped in half right in the middle, and you flinched at the feeling of the elastic going slack.
You hid your face in the crook of your shoulder when he bared you to his gaze, light tremors running through your entire body.
For a while, nothing happened. He cruelly left you anticipating his next move.
Then, gradually, you felt him shift above you, his fingertips lightly brushed between your breasts and circled around your left nipple, pebbling it in the process. It tickled, made you squirm. When he rolled it between two fingers, you tensed and tried to turn away and to the side, but bumped into his arm that he currently used to prop himself above you.
“Don’t be shy now, mariquita,” he murmured, suddenly very close to your ear, you could feel his breath on your skin. “We’re just getting started. This is what you’ve been sent to do.”
Oh god, you’d never recover from this. This was the most nightmarish, fucked up excuse for foreplay you could imagine.
He kept breathing in your ear, nipping at the lobe and lightly kissing your neck while his hand kept playing with your nipple.
Soon, the blush was returning to your cheeks. As fucked up as it was, it was still foreplay, and your body reacted to the stimuli it was given, regardless of its source.
“I—I wasn’t sent by...by anyone!”
“Don’t fucking lie to me,” he growled, but kept his ministrations gentle. It was messing with your head. Your anxiety level was through the roof.
“I’m not…” you sobbed, trailing off. This was not helping at all, it was no use. He wouldn’t believe you.
“I know it was me who found you,” Reaper started, “but it was Akande who teamed us up. I had wondered what his intentions had been.” He kept fondling your breasts, and even though you were terrified, your body was starting to get aroused with it. Tingles went down between your legs, made you want to press them together, but Reaper’s armored knee was still nestled against you intimately.
He hummed in thought. “I will find out why you...” he nosed into your neck, “affect me so. A little indulgence in the meantime won’t hurt.”
Won’t hurt you, you thought bitterly.
Reaper’s knee ground against you, so hard that it pushed you up the table with it. The shock of it had you tilt your head back towards him, ready to protest again.
But he simply kissed away any words that had been on your tongue. He was rougher now than before, his mouth forcing yours to open wide and he invaded it boldly with his tongue. It was an all consuming kind of kiss, one that would have you swooning had you not been lying down already. Still, it made your head swim and your legs shake where they tried to squeeze together around Reaper’s thick thigh. He groaned at the feeling of you squirming around him, his bare hand moving from your breast to the fly of your jeans to pop open the button.
His mouth was still slotted against yours, stealing your breath away in a passionate dance.
You were hesitant to admit it, but it was a really good kiss, with the right partner you’d have loved it, given yourself to him without a second thought. Alas, this was Reaper, and the terror you felt at the thought of being raped by him was all consuming.
But suddenly you felt him tugging at your pants, pulling them over your hips, and another wave of sheer panic momentarily gave your head some clarity.
“No,” you pulled away from the kiss, cast fearful eyes down your body and tried to slap his hands away from where they were currently tracing along the top of your panties.
With ease, he grabbed your wrists and pinned them both above your head in his gauntlet.
“Don’t,” your voice broke on the last syllable, “please.” Tears were finally streaming down your face, you couldn’t keep it together any longer.
He paused, cocked his head.
“Poor girl,” he cooed and brushed some of the tears away with his thumb. “You are but an instrument, to be used by one and then by another. This is your place now.” He kissed your brow and drew back again, unphased by your revulsion. “This is what Akande wanted, so it is what he’ll get.” His voice turned cold. “Send him my regards.”
Apparently he was really under the impression that Ogundimu had instructed you to do this, the mere thought that maybe that was true, that Ogundimu thought of you as someone to whore out to teammates acting up made you sick to your stomach. What was the purpose of that, though? Distraction, dependency?
Reward?
Your musings were interrupted when Reaper resumed what he’d been doing previously, his bare hand moved down to your jeans and pushed them down, along with your panties, until they bunched around your knees.
To get them further down though, he had to momentarily get off of you, and it was in that moment that you saw your chance to get out. His hold on your wrists was easily broken when he was so focused on your bottom half. One hard tug and your hands were free, twisting to the side you managed to dodge his renewed attempt at catching you and your legs could slide out beneath him on the smooth metal of the examination table. The fall to the floor was painful, but the adrenalin in your system helped to ignore it as you collected your limbs underneath you and got up to your feet. A quick tug on your pants and you had them up around your hips again, the way to the door beckoning you.
Four long strides and the door almost in reach, but there was a black mass swirling in front of you now. It was Reaper’s black mist, you recognized from where you had stopped in your tracks, too shocked to look away. The mist was swirling, folding in on itself and finally taking on human shape.
This was straight out of a horror novel and you yelped in surprise.
The first part of him that was truly identifiable as human were his eyes, burning through the mist in their demonic color. The rest of his face followed suit, then his body materialized, already reaching out for you.
Too late you stumbled backwards.
In the blink of an eye you were whirled around and pressed against the doors that you had so desperately tried to reach a moment ago.
Reaper was holding you by the arms, a manic glint in his eye.
“You think you can run from me?” He sounded amused and it was almost convincing, hadn’t it been for the way his hands held you in a vice like grip, painfully tight.
That had been your very last chance of escape.
His rhetorical question hung above you heavily. No, you didn’t actually think that, it had been a knee jerk reaction of your body to flee.
“I’m—” His gauntlet on your mouth stopped you mid-sentence. He had pushed even closer to be able to release one of your arms and shush you like this. You cast wary eyes his way and saw that he was looking off to the side.
It seemed like he was listening for something.
Then you heard it: footsteps were fast approaching from the outside. Your eyes went wide. Who was coming to the lab? Were they going to try and come inside? Maybe you could cry for help…
Any hope that dared to blossom in your heart was crushed by the realization that nobody in this building was likely to help you at all, especially with Reaper. You were convinced that most people were afraid of him, yourself included. Hell, you were the president of club Reaper Is Scary.
With his finger against his lips Reaper signaled for you to be silent, not that you could have made a sound anyway. The sound grew ever louder and finally they came to a stop on the other side of the door.
You strained your ears for any clues on who it might be, but all you could hear was the blood rushing in your ears.
Then, a knock.
It almost made your heart stop right then and there. Wide eyed you stared at the man in front of you, not daring to make a sound. You were acutely aware of how Reaper was pressed to you, all hard edges and cold metal.
Casey called your name from outside. “Hey, are you there?” Her voice sounded muffled through the thick walls. “I forgot my keycard when I left. Can you let me in?”
What would Casey say if she saw you like this, half naked with bruised lips by rough kisses from no one else but Reaper . Would she be disgusted, or would she understand that this was not what it seemed? Really, you didn’t want to find out.
It felt like an eternity until Casey called your name and knocked one last time, followed by a silent curse and mention of finding Dr. O’Deorain to let her in, that told you she was going to leave and come back at a later time. Her footsteps disappeared down the hall.
You had closed your eyes in fear and only now cracked them open to tentatively watch what Reaper was doing. His face had softened somewhat, the fire in his eyes muted just a little. He was watching you intently, removed his hand from your mouth and took a step away from you.
Your knees buckled where you stood half leaning against the door with wild eyes, your hands fiercely clasping your lab coat to shield from view...and maybe more.
“This is not over, mariquita,” he promised darkly, then did his disappearing act again and vanished in a cloud of black mist right in front of you.
It took you a minute to breathe easy again. The darkness had lifted off of you for now, his presence was no longer looming above and you sobbed in relief. Your hands covered your face as tears were flowing freely again.
Your mind was blank, too many emotions were warring within you to make anything coherent of them. What you knew for certain was that you had to get out of this building and as far away as possible.
But what about Caleb?

She’s Shady and Sketchy...(2)
I’m back. I really want to thank everyone for the feedback I received for part 1 of SSaS. The amount of notes I got was phenomenal, I almost couldn't believe it. Really, thank you everyone.
Now, about part 2 - the typos during the group chat portion are as intended, because it’s not a group chat if no one’s screwing up what they're saying. I know they're supposed to speak French so, the formatting of their words are different, but I'm referencing the use of English in - you all get the point, right? Je ne parle pas français; I’ve only finished the elementary course. I tried to make it look authentic, but we’ll see. Also, a shout-out to @writingishfanonsideblog for pointing out the pun (you have no idea how long I was waiting for someone to see that).
PART 2:...when she goes on and raves
In a room above the Tom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie
Marinette is severely stressed. At the moment, she is reminding herself that she needs a break from everything – being Ladybug and the new Guardian, keeping up with her commissions, helping out at the bakery, being the class representative, etc. Clearly, it was somewhat working as Adrien could see from his position. He watches the girl lying down on his lap as he treads his fingers through her soft, dark hair. Her eyes are closed in content (kind of), the lines on her forehead slowly melting away. He smiles lopsidedly as he notices her cute nose crinkle and wiggle every few seconds, her lips in a pout as her mind continues to spew thoughts and ideas inside her mind. He reaches out a finger to boop her nose and says, “Hey, I can hear you thinking. You’re supposed to relax.”
Marinette opens her eyes, her brows even more furrowed. “And I told you that I can’t help it.” She tries to swat his hand that hovers over her face. Adrien laughs as he avoids her hand, returning to combing through her hair. She closes her eyes again and tries to go back to her halfway-decent relaxed state that Adrien so often made fun of her for. Oh, did she mention they’ve gotten closer?
To her amazement, Adrien had finally understood the extent of what Lila was doing. It was quite awkward at first, what with how Marinette was struggling to keep her composure in front of the same person she had fallen in love with beyond his looks. Adrien, on the other hand, was starting to realize that Marinette is someone so precious to him that he would do anything to help her, even if it meant he had to grow a backbone or two. It was working, thankfully, and had not backlashed on him. He had started to be less lenient with Lila’s inappropriate approach and invasion of his personal space, to which he made sure to mention to his father. For once, he felt that he was his father’s son because the day after his confession, he had found himself free of Lila’s grasp (literally and metaphorically). She was still modeling for the brand, though (to the disappointment of him and the many staff who found her performance lacking).
That did not mean the same for Marinette, though. He may have finally stood up to Lila, but Marinette was taking the brunt of her anger. Just recently, his friend told him how Lila was being more aggressive in her approaches, to the point where most of the class were starting to treat Marinette at arm’s length. They could clearly see that the class was taking sides, and it wasn’t theirs. Alya and Nino had been at the forefront of convincing him to talk sense into Marinette and giving Lila a chance. For some reason, they forgot how uncomfortable and mortified he felt whenever the latter came close to him without his permission. They weren’t that close, let alone friends. They were working the same job, at most. Physical contact was definitely not acceptable when he says so.
THE GOOD KIDS (11)
It’syagirlALYA: Hey, Lila. good to hear you’re doing fine, girl!
DeLila: I just don’t want to worry everyone.
It’syagirlALYA: It’s okay, don’t worry about it.
rose-pink: that’s right, Lila!
DeLila: anyway, about what I said…
I just really think that marinette needs to be…
Controlled.
jabberwocky: controlled? She’s not an animal.
sea-monkey: yeah, it kinda sounds…
haarhs
hars
harsh
DeLila: Oh, I didn’t mean it like that. Im just saying she needs to be stopped.
She needs to know what it feels like to be bullied.
brainf.Art: Hey, I think destroying her sketchbook is too much. I wouldn’t do the
same if another person, especially an artist, was being mean to me.
Jules: Nath’s right. If Marinette’s gone that bad, we shouldn’t stoop so low.
rose-pink: We’d be the bullies!
jabberwocky: besides, she already knows what it feels like to be bullied.
Remember chloé?
DeLila: Oh, Im not saying we bully her. Just, I dunno, give her a warning?
It’syagirlALYA: How bout this, lila: we try to keep you 2 apart as much as
possible.
DeLila: But…what if it doesn’t work? Or I just approach her again to really try be
friends with her?
It’syagirlALYA: Look, girl – we’ve known Mari for a long time. Well, more so the
others, but yo get the point.
kneeknow: what Alya means is that you let us handle it for oyu.
sunflower: that way, no one fights anyone.
DeLila: Oh, that’s a nice idea.
sun: Yeah, it is.
DeLila: Anyway, I was wondering if one of you could help me with our math
homework? I was just os distracted thinking about the charity Ive been
doing with Prince Ali on Tuesday that I wanst able to concentrate.
Maximus: I believe I can be of assistance.
DeLila: Thanks, Max! do you think you could send me a copy? It’s just, my mom
wants me to attend some very important meetings so, I won’t really have
much time.
Maximus: Oh. I suppose so, yes.
DeLila: Great!
It’syagirlALYA: Maybe you should take a break now.
sea-monkey: Sleeep.
Jules: Rest.
DeLila: Um, why?
Am I bothering all of you now?
rose-pink: No!
sunflower: it’s just, you said your head was hurting a while ago and we don’t
want to make it come back
rose-pink: or wrse!
worse.
sun: yeah
DeLila: Oh! Right.
I’ll see everyone tomorrow, then?
It’syagirlALYA: Sure.
kneeknow: Yeah.
DeLila: Bye, everyone!
jabberwocky: Yup, bye.
sea-monkey: See ya.
brainf.Art: bey.
bye.
sunflower: bye!
sun: bye.
Jules: yeah, bye.
rose-pink: bye-bye!
Maximus: Good-bye.
HOLD THE EFF UP (10)
It’syagirlALYA: I just had a realization.
Lila kept claiming she’s Ladybug’s bff, but that kinda sounds iffy
kneeknow: what makes you sya that, Als?
It’syagirlALYA: I never relly got a chance to ask LB herself but…
why would someone like lila deliberately tell me, the
LABYBLOGGER
That she’s Paris’s superheroine’s bff, knowing that Hawkmoth
could easily use her against LB?!
jabberwocky: holy sh*t, youre right!
sea-monkey: I may not be the smartest, but even I know that’s dumb.
rose-pink: which means Lila is inn danger!
Maximus: as seen during Animan hunting you down.
Sea-monkey: MAX!
It wasn’t my best moment, okay?
sunflower: and her family!
Jules: she’s not in danger…
brainf.Art: Juleka!
Jules: let me finish: she’s not in danger, she put herself in danger.
sun: does that mean lila’s not really friends with ladybug?
It’syagirlALYA: guess I’ll have to hunt down LB if we want to find out ourselves.
brainf.Art: what if ladybug deflecting about it is just a tactic to protect her?
Jules: I’ll do you one better: why didn’t lila know better than telling other people
something tha could be passed on to HM
No offence, Alya.
It’syagirlALYA: none taken.
kneeknow: Juleka’s right. It’s one thing when LB pretends she doesn’t know
someone for safety reasons. It’s another when you don’t know who
could possibly be listening or watching the interview and they plan
to do with it.
sun: wasn’t there something on the news about someone claiming to be Chat’s
girlfriend who ended up being kidnapped by an akuma as bait?
sea-monkey: ooh! I remememember that!
Maximus: She was heavily reprimanded by Ladybug and Chat Noir, not to
mention her parents for endangering herself.
jabberwocky: hey Alya, weren’t there somepoeple who tried to call her out on
the interview?
It’syagirlALYA: who? The girl ivan was talking about?
jabberwocky: No.
I mean Lila.
Maximus: Alix is correct. I seem to recall about 27% of your comment section
filled with doubts and proclamations of disbelief.
It’syagirlALYA: I think this calls for another meeting. But this time, for different
reasons.
Come tomorrow morning, 10 people in class had a wary look in their eyes. Lila had yet to arrive, but asides from them, Chloé and Sabrina were already seated and talking about whatever it was that had them busy yesterday. Along the front rows, Marinette is seen to be chatting excitedly with Adrien. Now that they think about it, they hadn’t realized when exactly those two got comfortable and closer together (particularly Marinette). After all, it wasn’t much of a secret except for Adrien that the girl had a huge crush on the model. Alya and Nino, mostly, were very confused on how they missed the development on the interaction between their best friends. But before any of them could comment on the newly discovered development, the real person who had been running on their minds had finally arrived.
“Hi, everyone! It’s so good to see you all this wonderful morning.” They never really thought much about it, but Lila always did have this overly sweet tone. It was different compared to Rose’s own way of talking. “I’m glad to announce that nothing too bad came off from my head injury, but I want to also let you know that I got…”
Huh. Not that they didn’t care about the well-being of others, but Lila always did have a way of putting a lot of attention on her. But really, for how long and how much she’d told them, it was too hard to ignore that she always did talk about herself.
“…I could also introduce you guys to…”
Introductions. Hm… well, that was one word they were well acquainted with. There wasn’t one a time they hadn’t heard Lila mention someone new and promise introducing them. it wasn’t that they were using her for her ‘connections,’ but she could at least try to avoid making promises she would suddenly forget about.
Their eyes narrow down on her, following her every move while she is none the wiser of the sudden change of how they see her. Things hadn’t been easy after the short meeting among those in attendance. Doubt had been planted among their minds and initially, none of them knew whether to weed it out or to water it with curiosity. Lila, thinking she has their trust still, goes on and raves of the many things she’s supposedly done.
Lila approaches the one person she knows is her greatest ‘fan,’ Alya, and proceeds to shower her with the many tales she had spun that involved name droppings and not-so-subtle self-praise. She goes on, thinking that all is well, but the others are actually more inclined to observe the same person they once believed at the drop of her hat. They are listening to her words carefully, only this time with more awareness.
