im slowly losing how i did the star thing.
we came up with the idea that it was a power source of some sort and that it exists because grain is a gardener divine (out in the wild, someone had to be taking care of the divine. hence, special-type divine that takes care of the others. the star thing provides warmth so that the gardener doesnt freeze overnight. these divines also have some combat abilities that im still ironing out, because i *assume* they were part of an ecosystem before. even regular divine are theoretically a threat if you walk into their pens. so. motions vaguely. grain can be too, but moreso.)
anyway.
grain exists down in the blacksite because the caretakers werent allowed to leave the facility until everyone else had evacuated. the last caretaker left alive, Circe Celian (praise be the naming conventions of canon game) who was injured when the facility originally went into lockdown, used the time she had left to create conditions in the garden that would allow a special-type divine to grow, so that it would take her place when she died. If she wasnt going to make it, the least she could do is give those who remain a chance at survival.
at the bottom of the ocean, oxygen is a limited resource.
Grains role, if he were actually in the game, would be to make rounds around the facility, dropping the corpses of dead expendables off in the gardens to be used as fertilizer. You can fill up oxygen tanks if you find him in the halls, or offer the corpses of your friends in exchange for protection until you reach any in-game milestone. If you find his prices to be too high, you can tell him stories of places outside the blacksite.
you'll have to hope he likes it, because if he doesnt, well.
he might just kill you when your back is turned.
youre most useful to him dead, after all.
Occasionally he runs into sebastian picking up expendables in exchange for ferryman tokens. there may have been a few times where grains been like "nah id win" and refused to hand over an expendable when asked. he has a job to do and the rest of you WILL die of oxygen deprivation if he cant get it done.
kehe
(in this au, hes eventually the only divine left, and seeing as he's mobile ((and the timelines been extended to several months)) he's the only way any expendable would ever make it to the outer edges of the facility alive. the rest were either killed or burned to death.)

i dont remember much of the diVine's file so this may be very canon-divergent but,, diVine hcs!
like other plants, the diVine like music. whenever music is played around them, their vines shift or their "bodies" bop and sway along. this includes humming, drumming fingers, etc
different diVine can actually grow various different flowers, weeds, berries etc. some have been recorded offering theirs to personnel.

Within this hell, Tear out your heart to survive : Chapter 5
Tumblr media
Sever comes face to face with a section of the Oxygen Gardens, but are they alone?...
And here we are again with Sever! and as to be expected, violence ahead.
“Passion has little to do with euphoria and everything to do with patience. It is not about feeling good. It is about endurance. Like patience, passion comes from the same Latin root: pati. It does not mean to flow with exuberance. It means to suffer.”
.
.
.
Sever stared into the dilapidated Oxygen Garden, greenery.
Greenery was everywhere, a concept foreign in this hell and foreign to Sever, they had only been told of them in passing by Rain during scheduled maintenance and by scientists in the halls.
The grass crunched under their mechanical heel, drawn to the tree in the middle, rotten fruit decorating its base. It reached up to the roof, its branches wrapped around support beams like antennas to heaven. The tree itself was heavily scorned, evident damage from either an Angler rushing through and causing chaos or enraged expendables, Sever places their hand on the bark, moving it along the grooves. While they couldn't feel fine details and most textures they did have a rudimentary comprehension of what should feel like what, Pillows are soft, rocks are hard, Rain is…
The tree felt… wounded, it crackled when Sever put any force on its trunk, they turned away from the tree, but stopped, feeling a tug at their legs.
Looking down they could see vines rapidly wrapping around the metal, they slashed at the vines to release themselves but they kept coming, getting a moment of levity from the onslaught they jumped off the grass and back to the cold concrete.
Their metal legs drew sparks upon impact, dancing off the concrete and to the green grass, a small fire formed before being stomped out by a heavy vine.
Its wielder towered over Sever, one of the residents of the Oxygen Gardens and also its guardians, The DiVines.
This was the Only DeVine in the room and much bigger than the others which were as tall as the average human, this one was a giant.
It looked down at Sever with assumed malice, an enlarged rotten apple was formed at the side of its head, a gunhole acting as a visual for an eye, do DiVines even have eyes?..
Sever took a step back as they readied their knives , refreshing the blade and letting the dull ones clatter to the floor.
The DiVine took a step forward, its long barbed arms dragged behind it, with it the corpses of  dead operatives tangled within it.
The concrete trembled under Sever, quickly jumping out of the way as a giant thorned root broke free and tried to impale Sever, when it failed this, it began to flail and thrash wildly, Sever kept moving from the roots assault, not granting them any safe opportunities to retaliate, the DiVine watching this deadly game of tag emotionlessly, stiff as a predator watching its prey.
Severs' back bumped against a cabinet bolted to the wall, taking a glance showed it to be a fire extinguisher case.
Formulating a plan Sever ceased their dodging, they held their ground and raised their knives, the concrete trembled again yet Sever didn't move.
Only as the root broke through the concrete again did Sever duck away at the last possible moment, The root shot through the case shattering the glass and impaling the extinguisher, causing it to violently explode sending shrapnel and while foam out, severing the root and blinding the DiVine.
Some of the vines on its body protected its “head” from the shrapnel which now impaled parts of it.
Lowering the vines the DiVine didn’t find Sever, it’s neck creaked as it looked around.
Feeling the grass be trod on it wasn’t quick enough to turn around before Severs knife dug into its back, it thrashed wildly and it’s vines wrapped around Severs arm, it ripped them off and threw them across the room into the wall leaving a slight dent.
It rapidly approached Sever and swung its corpse filled arms as heavy flails, Sever ducked and rolled out from the first one but was sent flying yet again by the second, this time to the opposite side of the room.
Looking up Sever noticed something, the corpse of a gardener laid gently against the tree, it looked to have been there for a while, with flowers lovingly placed by its side.
Sever leaped up, ducking again from both flails and running towards the corpse, they ruthlessly grabbed it by the head and lifted it up, turning it to the DiVine just as a root was about to impale them, it averted it’s trajectory and instead stabbed the tree, causing sap to spill out like fresh blood.
“Not one step, not one step else I will shred your gardener to ribbons” Sever declared this as they held their knife up to the corpses neck, the blade pushing against the waxy greying skin. The DiVine paused, it’s creaking became louder as if it was even more enraged.
Sever slowly made steps away from the tree and towards a door, the DiVine’s gaze never faltering, Severs metal leg touched concrete as they continued edging towards the door, before they could attempt to open it, the door Sever had came in from reopened as a platoon of operators flooded in.
“FIRE ON ENTITIES!” The room was lit up in a frenzy of bullets as Sever and the DiVine collectively hid behind the old tree, bullets piercing through.
Sever continued to hold the corpse only for the DiVine to gently take it from them, cradling it in a hug as the tree grew weaker and weaker with each bullet.
Sever stood up and ran low towards the operatives with their knives ready, stabbing one in the neck and using them as a shield against their still firing comrades, turning them into a hole filled pincushion.
Tossing the swished cheese body as two operatives sending them to the floor and sever jumped into the air and bring their knife down on another, it cut through the helmet like butter and into the operatives head, a swift death.
The two operatives who were knocked down readied their guns on Sever while the rest began to retreat, they screamed in terror as one of the thick flair arms of the DiVine swung down crushing the two, it was still cradling the body of its gardener in its vines, the roots covered the door trapping the remaining operatives.
The commander of the operatives shot at the DiVine while barking his men to continue firing, despite the speed of its roots it wasn’t able to move fast enough to protect the head of its fallen gardener, its face now unrecognisable and destroyed.
The DiVine seemed to scream in anguish, as it’s onslaught tightened, swatting the remaining operatives like flies and towering over the commander who now shivered like a leaf, apologising and begging for mercy.
Two new vines formed from its chest, one picked up the commander by the neck, thorns dug into the skin.
The other readied back before piercing his chest, his heart still beating as the vine encompassed it, blood dribbling down its roots as it squeezed it like a rotten apple.
The commander sputtered for a few seconds, before being dropped to the floor like a sack of wet cement.
Sever looked on at the DiVine as it turned to face them, readying their knives only for the DiVine to pick up a keycard that was in an operatives pocket, it was a bright orange with E.A imprinted on the side, experimental armoury.
It handed it to Sever as it ushered them to the other door, Sever offered it to come with them, to try and find a way to escape and give a proper burial for its gardener.
But the DiVine only shook its head, firmly placing the keycard in their hand and pushing them towards the door with their vines.
Sever looked back as the DiVine picked up their fallen gardener and sat by the tree, the roots began to spread rapidly, the whole room began to creak as support beams and glass began to bend, water trickling in spouts, the room was about to fail.
Sever closed the door as quickly as they could, pulling the metal handle with all their might, it thunder shut, sealing it shut just microseconds before the room was filled with water and destroyed.
Their back slid down the door as they sat on the ground, if they had a heart it would be racing, they thought of their relationship to Rain. If Rain died.. would they do something like that? There isn’t much for them outside this..
They looked at the keycard in their hand, no they cannot let Rain die, they can’t, they need to keep her safe, and the best way to do that is with more firepower.
Sever stood up, and began their trek towards the armoury.

Ppl will complain about Pressure updates and devs while forgetting Pressure is NEW.
Ik tumblr has more users with common sense but the amount of tiktoks and tt users say that the game was at its PEAK two weeks after the game's release just bc you could climb Sebastian, he wasn't (visibly) married (it was always written into his character), and tolerated the players slightly more is INSANE.
Most games, at that, aren't at its peak gameplay and story a month after release!!
"The anti-climbing mechanic doesn't even fix anything!" Yeah because you climbed Sebastian several times over ofc at SOME point you're gonna get softlocked bro. Maybe try playing pressure for a reason aside from harassing seb.
I genuinely feel like the pressure fanbase tend to forget that Pressure is from roblox programmers in a small developing group. This isn't Hoyoverse or DevSisters where the game is fully polished with information on all characters and a finalized world building upon release because the company has more time, money, and skilled labor to develop that. It was made in ~1 year and a rushed release.
Not only that, but Pressure is a passion-project. It isn't driven by money, which means there's not much of an incentive to please the playerbase with fan service content that changes lore/characters so people can buy it. (Fan service as in any content made to make ppl happy) So, developers are going to choose what they want to do with the game bc they don't care whether or not you play. Zeal said so first thing in his interview with Breadian.
Amazing features that enrich gameplay and world building such as Sebastian killing walldwellers and the DiVine being able to kill you, Navi-AI turning into a new character, and several new room types are hinted to come to Pressure but nooo!!! Its somehow cooked and unsavable because of ONE form of characterization YOU deem incorrect not even knowing the character's lore. Right.
Edit: Pressure has a future as a roblox game that values storytelling and immersing the user in it's world. We need rblx games like it that put work over profit so people stay on the platform. Especially when older and new games have become money hungry over time.
Its really crazy how people be biting the hand that feeds them. Seb could easily be replaced with an expendable or unknown void like jeffery as a merchant npc if this continues. Online users will really be out her acting like the person who wrote and designed their favorite character is all of a sudden BAD!! And their favorite character is RUINED!!! And TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM!! Because their personality wasn't made to please the fanbase.
Yes, Sebastian hates you. Not pouty tsundere hates you, he is literally keeping you alive against his own will by mr. Lopee. He not tryna fuck bro 🔥

I found a possible explanation for why Bhaal crafted a titan from his own flesh to serve as a vessel when plan A failed and he couldn't make more demigods - and why plan A required half-divine children: if you go by the novels, living beings cannot house his divine essence as, predictably, hosting Death gradually kills them and causes them to rapidly deteriorate (forcing him to keep jumping to new hosts). Unlike mortals, the quasi-deities he creates should be able to host it safely.
It may also explain why Durge has free will - Bhaal cannot care for a host body for shit (as seen with both his mortal avatars and feral-Durge); he either cannot grasp the needs and limitations of a mortal body any more, or doesn't care, or both. So he crafts a fragment of himself into the Dark Urge and gives it some independence so he doesn't have to care for it; It's like Ao giving the gods free will so that they can do the jobs he made them for (being unable to do every job in the universe nor pilot that many minds by himself)

hi I love your tags so so much! they were so sweet and so interesting and creative and the whole Aphrodite type of beauty thing sounds really interesting do you have any articles and recommendations to read further into it??
-hogoflight
Hello my fine feathered (I am assuming possession of feathers if you are, indeed, capable of flight) @hogoflight! I'm always always happy to hear that people appreciate my frenzied rambling in the tags :D! I have a lot of articles and recommendations :D!! Ancient Greek notions of beauty and representations of it in their art and sculptures is a pretty well studied topic! There isn't any way for us now to know definitively what the beauty standard was (it varied widely from region to region and culture to culture after all) but here are a couple of my favourite reads about Aphrodite and what her representations tell us about idealised beauty!
Probably the most empirically extensive one I can list is Krönström's thesis which compares statues of Aphrodite and literary text referring to both the goddess and mortal women to determine physical ideals for women in five specific eras of Grecian antiquity. Including measurements of the statues there are many descriptions of Aphrodite as 'curvy' with a 'voluptuous figure' and with 'ample buttocks and bosom'.
"When the beauty traits are described in the texts, they are never extreme or anything that could not be found in normal people just that they are more beautiful in every aspect. Furthermore, the sculptures’ physical forms look healthy, they are tall and have distinct curves. Great examples of this are the Knida sculpture and de Milo (the Melian) sculpture."
Of course, these images are still idealised, and there was still a concept such as 'too fat' or 'too skinny' found in written records (and this thesis even includes analysis of pornographic writings and descriptions of the fashion and stylings of pubic hair of women from different regions!!) but from an interpretational standpoint? There is absolutely no reason why these can't refer to a fuller figure. Height was also a very important factor after all and over the course of many eras, it seems like being well proportioned in addition to the length and appearance of one's hair were the most important factors (and, like Apollo, greater beauty was given to those with curlier hair)
Mireille M. Lee's 'Other Ways of Seeing' essay which talks about the forgotten female viewers of Knidian Aphrodite which is also extremely illuminating on how Aphroditic sexuality and sensuality was perceived totally differently from the well documented male voyeuristic gaze (which was overly preoccupied with the statue's nakedness and therefore over-sensationalised the statue's physical appearance) vs women's perspective on the statue which is more centered on the beauty of simplicity in Aphrodite's garment and decoration and in her power and ability to captivate both in her finery and without it. I think it's especially useful in exploring the importance of finery, jewellry and adornment in representations of Aphroditic beauty.
"Some of the small-scale copies are heavily jeweled, especially those from the eastern Mediterranean, for example the Hellenistic gilded terracotta statuette in the Çanakkale Museum (Fig. 5) in which the goddess wears, in addition to the armband on her (right) arm, the following: a necklace with multiple pendants; cross-bands extending over both shoulders and hips, with a cascading pendant in the center; a coiled snake armband on the left arm and another snake on her left thigh, and a twisted anklet on her right leg. (The left leg has been restored, and might also have featured an anklet.)"
"Jewelry is especially associated with Aphrodite in Greek literature. As seen above, in the Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite, the goddess adorns herself with gold jewelry, dress-pins, and earrings in the shape of flowers (162–3)..."
Finally, and to me, the most important one in the argument for an interpretation of Hyacinthus as fat, beautiful and fundamentally Aphroditic comes from Brilmayer's brilliant brilliant thesis done on Aphrodite's work and influence in Archaic Greek Poetry which does away with all of that masculine preoccupation with physical proportion, measurement and bodily ideals for a focus on a Sapphic Aphroditic ideal centered in clothing, ornamentation and, most importantly cunning as symbols of Aphrodite and ultimately a feminine idealised form of beauty. This paper also discusses Pandora and Helen in these terms and it is just kind of a wonderful read tbh.
"Combining Homeric and Hesiodic elements with her own ideas, she [Sappho] alters the way female beauty is viewed. For example, the Homeric war chariot – a symbol of male, military prowess - comes to symbolise the totality of Aphrodite’s power uniting in itself male and female qualities. Having addressed the concept of beauty directly, Sappho then concludes that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. With the help of Helen of Troy and her beloved Anaktoria, Sappho sets out to reinvent the concept of female beauty as a godlike, subjective quality that may be expressed in many ways, yet remains inspired by Aphrodite."
The conclusion to all of this of course is that Aphroditic ideal beauty is much more fluid compared to its stricter Apolline masculine standard. The nuances and understandings of both are of course, constantly being studied, analysed and scrutinised but really, if Dionysus who was both bearded and clean shorn, effeminate, birthed and rebirthed (and twice gestated!) and strongly associated with vegetation can be popularly portrayed as fat and handsome, why can't Hyacinthus?!
#ginger rambles#ginger answers asks#Once again I do not care how it happens or who I have to pay#I don't even care how much research I have to do#All I care about is more unique portrayals of Hyacinthus#Literally that's it#I will go through every academic hoop to make that possible if that's what peeps need TRUST#No because there's a genuine conversation to be had about a Hyacinthus who is split between masculine and feminine qualities#Likewise there's a wonderful conversation to be had wrt Apollo's fluidity in terms of presentation and how it does not reflect on his gende#the way Dionysus' fluidity reflects on his#Apollo is ALWAYS masculine no matter his ornaments garments makeup or action#It doesn't matter that he has the prettiest curls or wears elaborate dresses for his kitharody and dances#or values the deep dyes of the lapis - Apollo is ALWAYS male and that cannot be concealed by any finery or garment#Aphrodite however is an ally in this measure because through her beauty bridges the gap between the mortal and the divine#And we see this constantly in the way mortal beauties are able to attract the eye of many gods and how glory and ultimately immortality#are gained from these things#After all even after their deaths or betrayals or tragedies#We still tell their stories and remember their names#And what is Apollo if not the one who recites all of these beautiful memories - what is Clio if not the one who records these histories#ANYWAY PLEASE DRAW FAT HYACINTHUS#PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE#I AM ON MY KNEES I AM BEGGING (no pressure seriously I'm being very lighthearted) BUT ALSO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEEE#TOGETHER WE CAN KILL THE PATROCLES/HYAPOLLO VISUAL PARALLELS WE CAN DO IT I KNOW WE CAN#ANYTHING SO THAT XANTHIAN DEVIL ARISTOS ACHAION DOESN'T GET ANY MORE PARALLELS WITH APOLLO P L E A S E#This is of course entirely because of my own biases and such there's nothing objectively wrong with comparing and paralleling#Hyapollo and Patrocles - however and I cannot stress this enough#P l e a s e#Thank you for the ask <33 Always a pleasure to provide more relatively obscure references mmhm#Hope this helps!#oh almost forgot
