Abstract Photo Mixed Media
Photo printed on acetate with coloured plastics, burnt paper, burnt acetate, and strings of yarn placed onto it, and projected using a projector
2.5 cm x 3.5 cm
This work is inspired by Dexter Dalwood's Burroughs in Tangier and the photo underneath is a collage I made based on its composition. Dalwood's work has parts that are more abstract which I explored and experimented with in detail. I became fascinated with working with mixed media.

Dalwood possess a profound cultural and historical knowledge, he also perceives the connections between art history, politics, music, literature and personal experience, which he intimates with a remarkable lightness of touch. The artist’s juxtaposition of quotations and references from a broad and eclectic range of subjects is reflected in his transposition of the cut-and-paste of the collage technique to canvas. A technique he values in music but doesn't see so much of in the art of others.

Cut-and-Paste Manipulation
2.5 cm x 4 cm
I was inspired by Dexter Dalwood and Patrick Caulfield. I wanted to have Dalwood's cut-and-paste feel of a collage and Caulfield's simple but bold shapes and colours and using this medium allowed me to experiment with these concepts.
