The Fish In Our Lives - Masterlist

Hello everyone!!  Normally, I would be posting on AO3, but my school has gone ahead and blocked AO3 for me... So that’s great! I haven’t written in a while, and with a new hyperfixation on Detroit: Become Human, and my ongoing love for the mobile game, Monument Valley, I thought, why not write a self-indulgent fic that incorporates both? 

So, here we are.

What is the surrounding world like in the android Ivan musician till au? U said it was modern but like how modern? And also how common are androids like Ivan? Are they like a dime a dozen or like super prized and cool?

i think i was delusional writing that one. because ivan was a gift to till and had sentiency the moment he "awoke," he's a one-of-a-kind! well, he tries to follow protocol most times, unless its a dire situation (see: till being shot)

i imagined something like detroit become human's world, except i havent played it in a while, so it isnt the most accurate. i think its pretty modern (2028), and its before androids are known to have sentiency (2024?? which is this year). ivan gets destroyed during the android revolution, so till and him has about four-ish years together.

here are some extras:

sua and mizi are both humans (who are childhood sweethearts) that help androids cross the border. ...i guess theyre korean, so they help the north korean androids to south korea.

hyuna is an android revolution leader (isaac and dewey are both in the revolution group), who became rogue after seeing her "brother" android being destroyed by luka, her master, who she was supposed to guard and serve like a nurse. shes a badass, constantly stealing from the rich and identity making for androids.

luka, as mentioned, had two helper androids because he's rich and has poor health. he destroyed hyunwoo and hyuna runs away, so he only gets non-human androids to help him now. hes part of android resistance... kinda. he lures androids in and takes pieces of them, often fully destroying him, like that one guy in dbh except a lot more successful and manipulative. there's no escape...after all, any android capable of doing so is an animal-based one or long destroyed. hyuna is trying to stop this, but she doesn't know anything about it because, surprise, no survivors.

Okay I might actually start writing now, but I think I’ll start off with head cannons for right now because I’m not 100% confident in my writing skills. I know I’m not absolute shit when it comes to writing, but I have noticed that I tend to repeat certain words so I’ll have to work on that 😭

And that’s basically it for right now. Also Peter, Tate, and Luke are the only Evan Peters characters I’ll be writing for just for right now because I haven’t finished the other seasons of American Horror Story yet, but maybe in the future I’d probably be interested in writing for characters like Kit Walker or Kyle Spencer. There’s other characters that I wouldn’t mind trying to write for that I haven’t mentioned, but just ask and I’ll give you an answer.

I can write:

Any gendered readers: female readers, gender neutral readers, and male reader

Nsfw: don’t be afraid to request suggestive stuff. I don’t mind writing kinky stuff, but not too kinky like the piss kink or daddy kink bc it personally makes me uncomfortable (however, I’ll allow mommy kinks).

Kinks: Needed a section to put what kinks I allow. I will write for breeding kinks, breath play, bondage, pain kink, knife play, blood kink, dom/sub, degradation, BDSM; whatever, just ask.

Sfw: I’ll write fluff, hurt comfort, angst, any tropes, just whatever. I’m fine with platonic fics.

Semi Dark fics: I like Scream and American Horror Story, so you know there’s going to be some dark fics. I don’t mind prompts where the characters are possessive or obsessive (but not abusive). I also don’t mind writing for Yandere characters.

Poc reader inserts: I’m black, so I’d love writing stuff for black readers as well.

Fandoms: X-men, Wednesday, Scream, Spiderman verse, The Maze Runner series, Detroit Become Human, The Umbrella Academy (that’s it for rn)

I won’t write:

Celebrities/Real People: As much as I find their character’s attractive, I don’t feel comfortable writing for the actor/actress themself. I don’t know them personally, so I don’t feel any interest in writing anything for them.

Guy x male reader smut: it’s not bc of homophobia, it’s simply just because I don’t feel comfortable writing gay smut. As a woman, I just don’t want to make people think I’m sexualizing gay men. The most I’ll do is write suggestive stuff, but I won’t write full on smut.

OC inserts: I strictly write for reader inserts. I won’t be writing anything specifically for one reader.

Shipping: I don’t write for character x character. Nothing against them, I just only have an interest for reader inserts.

Smut for teenage characters: I’m 18, so I will not be writing smut for characters under 18, especially if they are portrayed by literal teenagers. However, for characters like on Wednesday where the characters are portrayed by adults in their 20s and even 30s, if you want smut for them it should be fine as long as they’re aged up to be 18.

These: non-con, step-cest/incest, r4pe themes, drugging, somnophilia, age regression, ddlg, piss kink (squirting’s fine), huge age gaps, race play, pedophilia, etc. Once again, if you’re not sure what kinks I’ll write for, feel free to ask

Traumatic stuff: I will not write things like abuse victim, rape victim, or self harm victim prompts. I will write angst, but I won’t write anything too depressing. I came here for a good time, let me be happy and delusional in peace 😪

Songfics: So random, but I hate when fics have lyrics within them. They confuse me too much and I also find them kind of cringey. I absolutely despise songfics, I’m so sorry babes 😭

Since it's the anniversary of Detroit: Become Human, I thought I should finally post this illustration of Connor and Dewey.  Extra note: Daffodils stand for 'new life' and Hydrangea symbolize 'heartfelt emotions' in flower language.  (I nicknamed this the "Patron Saint of Fish")

Summary:

The elevator ascended into a world of chaos, and Connor, the android sent by CyberLife, was ready to take action.

Being sent in for deviancy cases became the highlight of his days in Detroit, Michigan. Except they weren’t really ‘highlights’ and rather, successful missions to embark on.

(They also managed to make something akin to serotonin swirl around his system - But he didn’t want to talk about that).

Scanning the hallway occupied by SWAT officers, he absentmindedly rubbed his hands together. Before he could gain any real information, however, a woman bounded over to him.

“Officer!” She exclaimed with rushed breaths, “No… I can’t- I can’t leave her! Please, save my daughter! Save my little girl.”

“We will do everything we can, ma’am.” The man next to her nodded, until she bumped into the android.

Then, and only then was her face cast with utter disbelief. “Wait…” She eyed Connor up and down, stumbling backward. “You’re sending in an android?!” Her breath quickened spontaneously and the SWAT man tugged on her arm. The halls echoed with more than just her screams, rather the gunshots of humans and chatter everywhere- Even the whirring of a distant helicopter. “You’re not sending in a real person?! KEEP THAT THING AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER!! KEEP IT AWAY!”

The android could only stare ahead, unfazed, waiting out the time until the distressed mother (he had scanned her, the immediate feedback being that she was Caroline Phillips) had been dragged away from the scene.

Connor knew better than to fret with her, so he aptly moved on. From there, his swagger filtered through the air, this strange wave of both calculation and charisma enforcing itself with every step, every scan more precise than ever. CyberLife, after all, created its most advanced prototype with all this in mind. He took note of a family photo to his right, of John, Caroline and Emma Phillips, and the more he listened, the echoes of piercing screams travelled in the distance.

The young girl. He thought, She doesn’t know what to do.

That precise moment was when he realised that every second counted. The longer that he spent fretting about the house, the closer the android outside was likely to self-destruct. So, he kept moving forward and onward-

Flip. Flip.

Connor’s system seemed to freeze upon hearing the noises, delicate and urgent in their ways. A fish, stuck on the floor, underpinned by the partially broken fish tank above…

Flip. Flip.

There it went again, seeming to seize his mind now. As he drew closer, he knelt down, blinking, as if to absorb the marine creature and create an image of what it might have looked like before this, swimming peacefully in the tank without a care in the world.

“Dwarf Gourami.” He murmured, “And there are more in the tank, too.” Connor noticed such a thing as he caught himself staring at the real water.

Flip. Flip.

I have to make a choice. Connor told himself, for his expressionless eyes and face made contact with the Dwarf Gourami. Pros? Keeping the fish alive. Cons? Derailing entirely from the investigation, the mission… The thing that he always accomplished no matter the circumstances.

He finally picked the fish up, scanning the array of orange and blue that painted its body. By the time he’d looked back at the broken fish tank, only to see its mesmerising glow and the other few species swimming around- It was almost instinctive, like a voice calling from within.

Connor stood up now, Dwarf Gourami in hand, and smiled.

One swift movement later, the fish had found its place again.

The mission was yet to be successful as the android moved on forward, but it was as if that was a mini test for him, a side quest of sorts with an interaction of its own tickling his very being.
