The Disappearance of Lady Frances Carfax, Part 1 of 3

Feels like it's been some time since a story has began with the fun little back and forths between Holmes and Watson about the former's deductions.

That's a very good metaphor to describe the situation. Also, the way Holmes talks about it makes it seem like the disappearance of rich, solitary, traveling women was a common occurrence back then. Maybe it still is actually, I don't know.

Nothing better than following a paper trail. Bank records, receipts, letters, etc., are always a good clue.

I always appreciate when Watson gets to work alone and show off his own investigative skills. He's no Holmes obviously, but it's interesting to see what he's learned from him.

Well, let's not get too hasty Watson, what you have so far seems very surface level. Where's the tiny, seemingly insignificant details that will be revealed to have a rather large role in the mystery? Where's the individual quirks characteristic of different peoples? Where's the dirt analysis?

See! Dr. Shlessinger's left ear is probably the key to the whole mystery! It's probably distinctive to some famous criminal or has an earring that's actually a famous diamond or something!

Is the maid going to be okay? This guy just attacked Watson angrily, got attacked himself, so I don't think he'll be in a good mood when confronting the maid.

Alright, I guess the maid's on her own. Also, a Holmes disguise! We also haven't seen one of those in a while. How neat.

Also you maybe be asking why Gnarrk's entry is below instead of with everybody else. That's because Gnarrk was never a Titan in the first place. Sure, he appeared as part of the title and was there when the Titans West was formed but he never actually joined the team at all. Gnarrk becoming a Titan became a thing when he was introduced following the New 52.

Bsd theory (a real one this time)

Bram IS dead, but Kunikida isn't (and by extension, Teruko too). Think about it.

Bram died not because of Fukuchi but because Fyodor overtook his body with his ability to get to the holy sword. We *know* he died because not only does he tell us/Aya directly when briefly using Akutagawa's body, but also because we see him reunite with his daughter (and potentially his wife?).

But his actual death was prior to devine Fukuchi showing up.

Both Kunikida and Teruko were first stabby stabbed and then turned into bubbles to be ultimately swallowed/absorbed by devine Fukuchi. You could argue that Bram's consciousness fading looks similar to Kunikida getting turned into Bubbles, but I think that that's just supposed to represent how he's literally fading away.

Personally, I believe that devine Fukuchi simply absorbs the consciousness, emotions, and energy of the person he hits with his sword to make himself stronger, and given that it probably works just like a normal ability would, the two would probably return as soon as he's defeated. (Or Dazai touches him, but that guy's still in France).

Notably, Kunikida also says, " Even IF I die my ideals will live on" instead of "Despite my death" or something similar. After Fukuchi absorbs him, we even get a panel of his notebook being left behind. This could foreshadow his potential return.
