Android Oreo 8.1 is out : See what’s new!
Developer preview of Android Oreo 8.1 is already out there for Pixel and Nexus devices.
This update brings some really great fixes, improvements and feature; I personally explored the features and lets have a quick look at the features of the Android Oreo 8.1; which I found bit promising:
1) Navigation Bar Revamp: Now navigation bar looks compact with relatively smaller icons; auto-dimming feature also helps to dim the light/brightness of home, return and screen button when screen is not touched for some time.
2) Power Menu - New Look: Usually power menu pops up in the center when you long press the power button (in android), now with new updates it pops up on the side of screen, so imagine you can operate this by just a single hand - specially in the cases when you are using relatively bigger phone like - Pixel XL and other android based devices.
3) Settings UI: A new white colored navigation bar with dark icons and search bar dominating the tool bar at the top
4) No more “Keep Wifi on during sleep”: This means your android device will be connected to Wifi while your phone is on, and you need to charge a bit more (of course a downside feature, indeed)!
Feel free to post/comment, if you find some additional new features which sounds relevant and more impressive!

Essential rolls out Android P Beta, despite sale rumors
Essential rolls out Android P Beta, despite sale rumors
Bloomberg recently reported that Andy Rubin’s Essential is in a big enough trouble that the Android founder is considering giving it up for sale. The company didn’t confirm if there’s truth to that, but it doesn’t look like it’s letting any issue it’s dealing with affect its software updates: Essential has announced on Twitter that it has released Android P Beta 1 for its bezel-less…

With the release of the Android 11 developer preview, Google was discovered to be testing a software feature called “Colombus” gestures, which allows users to input a double-tap through the back of a smartphone, triggered by the accelerometers in the device. With the second release of the Developer Preview, more hints arrive regarding the Colombus gesture. These hints reveal that Colombus is being tested on the Google Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 4, and Pixel 4 XL. Two new actions were added as well: screenshot, and recent apps. In addition, Google has refined the feature to prevent false inputs – all this according to XDA Developers. Colombus uses information from the device’s accelerometer and gyroscope sensors to interpret when the user has double tapped. In addition, the gesture will not work under all conditions, like with the screen turned off, the camera active, or at the lockscreen as to prevent unnecessary battery drain and accidental inputs. In addition to the new gestures mentioned above, Colombus gestures can also trigger the camera, dismiss a timer, launch Google Assistant, play/pause music, collapse the status bar, silence incoming calls, snooze alarms, perform a “user selected action”, and unpin notifications. According to XDA Developers, Pixel smartphones since the Pixel 2 and 2 XL already have the hardware needed to support this feature and XDA has even been able to get the feature to work on a Pixel 2, but it will be up to Google to officially implement it in legacy Pixel devices. Would you find the Colombus gesture useful? What would you program it to do? . . . . #google #googlepixel4 #googlepixel #googlepixel3 #googlepixel2 #googlepixel3a #googlepixel3xl #googlepixel2xl #android10 #android #android11 #preview #colombus #gesture #gestures #xdadevelopers #pixel2 #googleassistant #statusbar #snooze #playmusic #screenshot #recent #apps #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #program #developerpreview https://www.instagram.com/p/B9_3wA3glwj/?igshid=1l67jpuytequ6

We’ve begun to see manufacturers launch devices running Android 8.0 pre-loaded, and update some of their older devices to the new software, but Google is already focused on what’s next. This week, the search giant…

Future Android update will show how apps are draining your battery
Future Android update will show how apps are draining your battery
Android Oreo, announced with great fanfare during the eclipse in August, has gotten some pretty neat features, like more recognizable emojis and notification dots for app icons. Now Android 8.1 will show you which apps are draining your battery in a new, more impactful way. According to a report at Android Police, users of the 8.1 developer preview now see a banner at the top of the regular…

Google announced that it releases Android Wear 2.0 developer preview 4. A key part of Android Wear 2.0 is letting watch apps work as standalone apps, so users can respond to messages, track their fitness, and use their favorite apps, even when their phone isn't around. Users will be able to search, install, and use apps without ever leaving their device. The standalone nature of the Android Wear 2.0 app will offer a big boost in search performance and app responsiveness.
Here is the view how other developers are enhancing their user experience with standalone apps.
