Third Power, from Detroit, Michigan is one of that city's forgotten bands. When you think of Detroit, or the music that came out of Michigan you think of Bob Seger, Iggy and The Stooges, MC5, Ted Nugent, Grand Funk Railroad, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, and, of course, Motown Soul. But there were a lot of great bands that never made their mark nationally, but left behind great records. Third Power released just one album, Believe from 1970. They split up in '71, and guitarist Drew Abbott joined Bob Seger. "Lost in a Daydream" is one of my favorite records of that era because there's something in the way it sounds that captures that period better than almost any record I can remember. I never tire of it, and I think it deserves to be remembered.
