APART OF THE ‘WE’LL ALL BE HERE FOREVER’ SERIES
SUMMARY: after the dust settles between the fisher siblings and mission ‘save the beach house’, y/n has one more wound she needs to patch up before she settles back in cousin’s beach.
inspired by stick season by noah kahan

lowercase is intentional! wc: 0.96k
warnings: mentions of a loved one passing (slightly), mentions of disordered eating & food! (if i missed anything let me know!) also not much mention of the fisher siblings!
a/n: im sold my noah ticket today and realized i havent written in this, in like forever.
AFTER THE IMPROMPTU BREAKFAST AT DENNYS,
one y/n barely ate, there was one more thing she had to do before heading back up to boston to pack.
and that was to fix things with emerson scott.
the brunette was home and y/n knew that. she knew that emerson would be home no matter the time of day because when it came down to y/n fisher, emerson scott waited for the girl.
y/n’s suspicions were confirmed as soon as she turned onto emmy’s street, seeing her light blue jeep sitting on the front lawn, something her neighbors always complained about.
as soon as the fisher girl parked in front of the brunettes house, she didn’t even have to pull out her phone before seeing emerson walking towards her car.
“care to go for a ride?”
the words slipped out of y/n’s mouth with ease, and it took emerson seconds before she was sitting in the passenger seat, something she was not used to.
“where are we heading?”emerson questioned as y/n handed the girl her phone to play music on, and y/n shook her head, “sure as hell not here.”
chappell roan started to blast through the speakers of the old mustang as y/n took the long way to their destination and it was silence between the two girls, not wanting to relive the events from the night before.
it was almost an hour later when a smile spread across emerson lips, seeing all the pride flags scattered around provincetown, finally realizing where y/n was taking them.
east end books.
it was the first time the two had gone out alone, and it was the first time in y/n’s life that someone besides her mom and conrad cared about the book she was currently reading. it became the two girl’s favorite place.
soon after parking, the two got out and silently made their way into the store, adventuring around with y/n hoping to find a new book to indulge in while she was back in cousins.
it was almost twenty minutes later when emerson had walked over to the h/c girl, and peaked over her shoulder to see the book she was reading.
“a reporter and baseball player romance?”emerson giggled slightly as y/n closed the book shut, and turned her head quickly to be nose to nose with the brunette, “i feel like i shouldn’t be surprised.”
a small smile spread across y/n’s lips before she walked towards checkout and purchased the book. the interaction with the scott girl was small, but it made y/n’s heart pound with joy.
as the two walked out of the book store, and down the block, y/n kicked a rock that was in front of her before clearing her throat, “we’re um, moving to cousins.”
“you’re what?”emerson questioned, stopping dead in her tracks as she looked at the h/c girl, “what about the house in boston?”
“my dads selling it.”y/n shrugged as she took emerson’s hand to lead her towards the beach, and the two started to walk, “not like i could be in that house anymore anyway.”
as the two walked, y/n kept her head down trying to avoid emerson’s green eyes, one that y/n was afraid would show disappointment. something the girl had gotten so used to.
“i owe you an apology.”y/n spoke up, catching emerson’s attention as she looked over towards the fisher girl, “i not only have been a wreck with you, but i took my anger out on you last night when it wasn’t your fault.”
“you didn’t deserve that emmy, and i’m sorry.”y/n apologized, finally looking up to see emerson looking at the girl with slight concern.
“come here.”emerson whispered before pulling the e/c girl into a tight hug, slightly playing with her hair.
“i get it n/n, and i forgive you.”emerson started, and y/n took in a deep breath to keep her tears in, “but you need to start taking care of yourself better.”
“you need to start eating more hon,”emerson pulled back, and cupped the girls face softly, “start sleeping more.”
“i’ll be here for you sunshine, but you need to start taking care of that head of yours.”emerson finished, and y/n nodded as emerson brushed some of the hair out of the girls face.
“laurel is helping me set up appointments with my therapist again.”y/n spoke softly, afraid to break the moment between the two, “once i get back from boston, her and i are going shopping for stuff for me to eat.”
“good.”emerson smiled, before pressing a kiss to the top of the girls head, and placed her hand inside of y/n’s, “i’m proud of you sunshine.”
y/n smiled, before starting to tug the girl down the beach, “enough to get ice cream?”
emerson threw her head back laughing at the girl, and nodded before keeping pace with the fisher girl who looked like she had new life running through her.
“absolutely.”

REVIEW 3: THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY BY JENNY HAN
MY RATING: ★★★★
While most people read the books first and excitedly wait on the series or film adaptations, I have the opposite approach. I tend to like watching movies or shows first then deciding I’d like to read the book to see the differences between the on-screen adaptation and the source material. For me, I need to see the premise of the content and see if I find it entertaining before I commit to reading the book, though I admit that it’s a rather backwards way of thinking.
With this being said, though I consider myself older than the target audience as I was in my late 20s when I read this book (which was recent), I decided to pick up The Summer I Turned Pretty, which moving forward will be referred to as TSITP, after having enjoyed the first two seasons of the Amazon series of the same title. Now, I am familiar with Jenny Han’s work as I had read the To All the Boys I loved Before series, so I’m not surprised that I ended up wanting to read this series as well.
TSITP follows the story of Isabel “Belly” Conklin, a 16-year-old girl who’s grown up before everyone’s eyes. Alongside her mother, Laurel, and her brother, Steven, Belly returns to the beach house in Cousins Beach owned by her mother’s best friend, Susannah. Here, Belly experiences a lot of firsts that she would’ve usually avoided when she was back home and in school, like her first kiss and first date happening with a boy named Cameron. However, despite how nice Cameron is and how it seemed like fate that the two of them would be at Cousins together after not seeing each other for years, since the Model UN convention in middle school, Cameron is not the boy Belly actually wants. Instead, Belly is still head over heels for Conrad Fisher, Susannah’s first-born son and her crush since childhood.
Conrad, however, seems to have a wavering interest. One minute, he’s hanging around Belly and saying things that could be construed as flirty, the other, he’s pushing her away. He’s also seemed to lost interest in the things he once loved and had backed out on things he said he’d do, like football and working as a lifeguard with his brother. As a result of Conrad’s aloof behavior, Belly gets closer to Conrad’s younger brother, Jeremiah Fisher, who starts to develop feelings for Belly. All the while, distracted from her own drama, Belly doesn’t realize until the end that the reason why Conrad has been so distant with her is because he’s going through a lot, with his mother no longer in remission and her cancer having returned, and his father having cheated on her while she’s battling her illness.
In the end, though, first love seems to prevail as Conrad and Belly start to date.
As happy as I am that these two had wound up together at the end of this first installment in the trilogy, there really is a lot missing in the book, which is how Belly and Conrad actually get together. The ending seems so up in the air, the only thing that really happened was them kissing but there were no conversations as far as what they were and Belly didn’t state they were together, which is sad for Belly/Conrad fans. But as they say, this is about the journey and not the destination.
Overall, I did enjoy TSITP. It’s a cute story, and I do wish there was a bit more focus on Susannah and Laurel’s friendship like in the show compared to the books being limited to Belly’s point of view. I think this would be a good read for its intended audience of young adults, and maybe even older, who like reading romance and coming of age novels.

The way I loved you
Characters - Iceman x Maverick
Summary - Ice reflects on his relationship with Maverick and the gut wrenching decision to marry Sarah.
Word Count - 1.3k
Warnings - Angst, Discussions of sexuality, Strong language
A/N - This is a companion piece to my Series “The best of my heart” (You can read Part one Here) You don’t have to read it for it to make sense, but it goes into more detail on why their marriage is beneficial to sarah! I will also be posting a Maverick fic similar to this one, and it will go into detail on how Maverick is feeling when Ice ultimately leaves.
Loving Maverick was like flying a jet. Adrenaline pumping, heart soaring, and absolutely terrifying. The man was reckless, especially after Goose died, taking any and every risk he could. He knew exactly what he wanted and wasn’t going to listen to anyone who told him no. Their first kiss happened exactly like that, all consuming and all because Maverick was going to kiss him dammit. (Mavericks words, not Ice’s) They had been hanging out at Mavs apartment, just finishing training the next class of Top Gun students, watching some stupid movie. Mav had looked at Ice from his side of the couch and made a point to scoot closer to him. Ice wasn’t upset by the close proximity by any means he was just confused. There was no way Mav liked him like that, right? Maverick took his moment of confusion to slip even closer to Ice, mere inches away from his face. “Mav, what are you doing?” Maverick got this small smile on his face and bumped his nose against Ice’s. “I’m just wondering when you were going to finally kiss me.” It felt like the air had been sucked out of his lungs. This wasn’t happening was it? He would open his eyes and he’d be back in that classroom, looking at the new hotshot pilot that hung around his old friend goose. “I- I didn’t know you wanted me to kiss you Mav.” The pilot in question just rolls his eyes. “Well then I don’t think you’re as observant as you claim to be then.” And with that Mavericks lips were on his. This was the first time he’d ever had the same feelings he had flying on solid ground. This was what he was afraid of, that if he gave in he’d never want to let go. And oh, did he never want to let go.
From there it was a whirlwind. Spending every ounce of free time they had with each other, just soaking each other in, like they weren’t destined to crash and burn. They fought just as hard as they loved, getting into screaming matches in the middle of the pouring rain on an empty beach. It was 2 am and they had just come back from base after Mav had pulled some stunt and pissed off another Admiral. “Fuck Mav, one of these days you’re gonna get yourself killed. You know that right?!” Maverick didn’t feel at all phased by his mistakes and just scoffs at his boyfriend. “Who cares Ice. Who truly cares. The Navy would throw an actual party if I died.” That was the last straw for Ice. Who cared? All he did was care about Maverick. He cared so much that he broke a massive rule in the military. Cared more about Maverick than he cared about flying stupid jets. “Fuck you Pete. You know damn well who cares.” Ice started to walk away, not really wanting to look at Mavs' face right then. He was pulled back by a hand on his bicep and all but yanked down into a kiss. This kiss was wet from rain and tears but it was no less spectacular. It was like it was right out of some stupid romance novel. Maverick pulled back first but kept a tight hold on Ice. “Tom, please stay and fight with me? Keep telling me I’m an idiot, and reckless, but please don’t leave.” Ice’s heart broke for this poor abandoned boy. He realized that for how much he cared for Mav, Ice still had a family that cared for him. Maverick however didn’t. He didn’t even have his beloved RIO/ brother anymore. Ice was all he had and he almost walked away.
There was no other way to describe Maverick than wild and crazy. If he wasn’t pulling stunts in his Jet, he was pulling them on his bike. He kept Ice on his toes for better or for worse and Ice couldn’t decide whether or not he liked it all of the time. Maverick was intoxicating in the best way and Ice felt like getting drunk on him forever. He was an endless ocean of crazy and he didn’t really care if he drowned in it. There was no doubt in Ice’s mind that this was the love of his life, even if it was fleeting. One day reality started to set in, that neither of them could give the other what they needed. The two of them loved flying too much to risk throwing it all away. They were scared, and as much as Maverick tried to convince Ice to stay, he just couldn’t. Ice had met Sarah while he and Mav were still together. She was the daughter of a family friend. They clicked immediately, both feeling like outcasts from their families. She was someone he could trust to talk about Maverick to, even vent a little about their issues. His family liked her, and she didn’t care about his sexuality.
It was the perfect solution to his problem, mutually beneficial. It broke his heart to tell Maverick. To tell him that he had to do this for both of their sakes, so that they could live the lives they’d dreamed of. Being the best pilots the U.S military had ever seen. Maverick had been so heart broken, sitting on his living room floor after his legs gave up on him. Ice immediately dropped to his level, stroking his hair, lips on his forehead. “I know baby, I’m sorry. But you know we have to do this. We could be ruined if we were found out.” That seemed to snap Mav out of his reverie. “Ruined Ice? It seems I’m destined to be ruined no matter what we do.” As if Ice hadn’t already felt bad for pulling the trigger he remembered that Mav would now have nobody, save for Carole and Bradley. If it hadn’t been for the two of them he didn’t think he would’ve been able to do it. “Don’t call me baby if you’re leaving me lieutenant Kazansky. It’s now Lieutenant Mitchell to you. You can call me Maverick in the skys.” His words were uncharacteristically ice cold and definite. If Ice had any thoughts of taking it back, it was too late now. He had broken his already broken heart and there was no way back. “Okay Lieutenant. Goodbye.” and that was it. He walked out and didn’t look back. It wasn’t until just before the wedding that they decided to be friends. “I love you too much not to have you around Mitchell. Please?” Mav caved, like he always did for Ice. He always seemed to do the most reckless things, even if that was being his ex boyfriend's best man. Ice didn’t take Mavs' friendship for granted, always inviting him over to family dinners and encouraging him to bring Bradley and Carole around. Eventually when Ice had his daughter, Maverick suddenly became Uncle Mav to two little kids. Two little kids that seemed to be inseparable and just as mischievous as Ice and Maverick had been. They were both raised by the men and it showed. It wasn’t a perfect solution but it was the best one they had. They had their little bubble of a family and if it was all he was going to get, then he was going to take it. When Ice was sick he knew his time was limited. There was so much he wished he had said to Maverick, wishing that things could’ve been different. Mav deserved to be told with words that he was still loved by Ice, not a computer. So he enlisted his daughter's help, telling her to tell him. He told her exactly where the ring was, and what to say. One of the last things he did in this life was write a letter to his beloved. He poured his heart out to Maverick, saying things he wished he would’ve told him sooner. The way he loved that man was beyond all reason, but it was the greatest thing he ever did. He loved his forever wingman.

Shy love | bang chan
Word count: 2.7k Pairing: shy! reader x e-boy!, skater! Chan Genre: fluff, romance, cliché af A/N: I know I’m very absent and it’s badly written, but I’m not at my best rn and I suddenly got into my Chan’s feels (i dreamt about him last night 🥺) I’m sorry!! i stg he’s too handsome to be real
Sitting on the bus with your headphones, you dramatically watched the scenery went by at full speed. You needed to go at the other side of the town for an appointment and you decided to try another route to reach your destination point. You had always ridden the train, but at those hours, it was most likely to be packed, and you hated it. Here, you were sitting at the back of the bus, not a lot of people around you. As you neared another bus stop, a group of nine boys mounted the bus, laughing and holding cans of beer and their skateboards or scooters. They were pretty loud, earning side glances from other people riding the bus. You quickly looked at each of them, but you brought your attention back to the cityscape out of the window.
After a few more minutes, the boys had quieted down a bit, giggling and snickering here and there, but something felt odd. You felt like someone was staring at you. You truly hoped that it wasn’t someone creepy, that it was just someone that tried to recognise you.
You turned your head in direction of the staring and you met big hazel eyes. Your heartbeat started increasing and you started feeling hot, studying the boy’s face for a few seconds before looking away out of embarrassment. You felt him doing the same and when you stared at the floor, laughter getting louder on the boy’s side. He looked at you again, but you ignored him, trying to focus on your music and the rainy streets. You pressed the button to stop the vehicle at your bus stop, gathering your stuff and putting your raincoat on. You gulped and gripped a handle, preventing you from falling. As you were about to go off the bus, you stared at the hazel boy one last time and hurried to your appointment, running in the rain.
You found yourself riding the bus more often, a public transport less used by people during rush hour. This time, it was sunny, and you had your sketchbook in hand, trying to draw the boy that you saw last time. You still sat at the back of the bus and music was your only friend, helping you to focus on your artistic task. When you looked up to crack your neck, you immediately sank your head back in your drawing, noticing the skater boys boarding the bus. You held your breath, as if it would make you smaller and voices you recognised started getting quieter, noticing that the boys stood a bit further away from you than last time. You exhaled and forced yourself to not look up, not wanting to be caught staring. Each time one of them talked, you wondered if it was him speaking or not, some voices sending more chills in your body than others.
Lowering your music to hear your stop announcement, you focused on your drawing again as you heard that you still had a long way to go. “Hum, excuse me? Do you mind if I sit here?” a deep yet gentle voice asked and you looked up, immediately shutting your sketchbook. You nodded and clumsily gathered your stuff to make room for him. It was the hazel boy. “What’s your name?” he asked, and you felt like dreaming. Was he interested in you? “I’m… Y/N,” you quietly said and took off an earpiece, briefly looking at him. “And you are?” “I’m Chris, but everyone calls me Chan,” he answered, and you nodded, not really knowing what to do. You were panicking and anxious, whereas Chan looked extremely chill next to you. You stared at his friends, who were looking at the two of you with playful eyes, mocking and teasing their friend for approaching you.
“Don’t mind them,” he said as he followed your gaze, making you turn your head to look at him, “they’re making fun of me, not you, but don’t worry.” “But why are they behaving like this?” you asked and he chuckled. “I’m actually the only one that has the guts to go talk to a girl,” you nodded and clutched your sketchbook against your chest. “Oh, you draw? That’s so cool,” he said as he pointed your small black book and nodded again, smiling. “Yes, it’s one of my hobbies, along with painting,” you said and Chan’s mouth opened to form an “o”, impressed. “That’s so sick,” his smile showed dimples and you felt your breath catching in your throat at the sight, “can I see it?” “Oh hum, I’d rather not if you don’t mind,” you awkwardly said and your grip on your notebook tightened, but you were immediately relieved when Chan nodded. “It’s okay, I know it can be pretty personal, one of my friends over there also likes to sketch but he never shows everything to us,” you gratefully smiled at him and he sent it right back to you, eyes turning into crescent moons. You looked away, flattening your floral dress on your thighs, not knowing how to keep the conversation going. “If I can’t get to see your artworks, can I get your number instead?” you cleared your throat and pursed your lips at his words, not expecting him to be this straightforward. You thought two seconds about it and nodded, making Chan’s smile widen. You shakily took the phone he was handing you and double checked that you entered your correct phone number and gave it back to him with a shy smile.
“Well, it was nice to meet you, Chan, but I’m going off here,” you mumbled and the boy grabbed his skateboard and stood up with you. “Wait, you’re going off here as well?” you asked and he nodded, making your brows furrow. “I don’t live far from here, so I can be around you a bit longer. Only if you don’t mind, I can jump right back in the bus if I bother you.” “No, not at all, it feels kind of nice to have someone with me,” you said as you struggled to put everything in your bag. Chan stood in front of you and held the bottom of your bag, allowing you to put everything in it like you wanted. “Thanks,” you mumbled and slightly shook his head, telling you that it was nothing.
You got to meet Chan a bit more than only in the bus. You were slowly warming up to each other, feeling like a teenager in love when you looked at him. You knew that his looks wanted to make him look unapproachable, but when he was in private, he was a whole other boy. He was smiling, very touchy and gentle, making you crazily blush when he was around.
One evening, you were bored as hell and your parents had to attend a professional meeting together. You texted Chan around twenty minutes ago, but you were still left unanswered. You sighed, pondering about going to bed early or just watch a series. As you were about to go fetch yourself some snacks in the pantry, your smartphone emitted a sound, notifying you from a message.
I’m skating right now, do you want me to come over? you read his text and sighed, still undecided about what you actually wanted to do. Can I come watch you instead? You sent back and locked your phone, dropping it on the bed. His answer wasn’t long in coming. Of course, honey. Make sure to bring a sweater or something warm, it’s getting windy 😉
You smiled and sprung from your bed, putting a sweater above your t-shirt and a pair of leggings before leaving your room. You grabbed water from the fridge, as well as snacks and two apples. Locking your front door, you ran to the bus stop as you heard the bus coming, signalling your presence to the driver to make him stop. Once you arrived at the skatepark near the beach, the salty wind made you inhale deeply, loving the current atmosphere. You noticed only two skateboarders, recognising Chan as one of them. The rest of the people populating the park were skaters, sending ticks mid-air as you passed by them. You carefully walked to Chan, who noticed you and sat on his board while waiting for you. You handed him a bottle of water and an apple, surprising him by your gesture.
“Thank you? That’s so nice of you,” he said gently smiled, watching him gulp down a few sips of fresh water in one go. “You must be tired and thirsty, so I thought that I’d bring something for you,” he passed his arm around your shoulder and drew you towards him, swiftly kissing your temple. Your stomach churned at the action, it was the first time that he showed you affection aside from flirting and complimenting you. You looked at him and he chuckled, his fluffy hair dancing with the wind.
“What? Want me to do it again?” you giggled and looked away. “Not for now,” you answered as you observed the riders clapping and cheering at each other for a trick they managed to succeed. “Wave to me when you want affection, then,” he winked and you shook your head with a smile, stuffing his apple in his mouth. He slightly turned his head away and grabbed your wrist, only to allow him to properly bite into the apple. He munched on it with a happy smile, wiping the juice of the fruit falling from his lips with the back of his hand. “It’s nice to take a break from skating with you,” he said out of nowhere as his eyes got lost in the sea in front of you. The sun was about to set, and the last rays warmed you up from the chilly wind, goosebumps flooding your body. “I feel at peace when we’re together,” you mumbled as you bit into your apple, “I feel like all my worries and anxiety suddenly vanish, it almost feels weird to feel good.” “I’m glad you feel like that when I’m around,” he looked at you with a soft smile, his foot on his board, making it roll back and forth. He stood up, gently letting go of the hand you didn’t notice him hold and speeded on his board, showing you off his skills. You didn’t really care about skateboarding, the only things that mattered to you was the smile on his face when he succeeded a trick or when he looked at you.
Without having him noticing, you took your sketchbook out of your bag and found a pencil in the back pocket and started sketching Chan as he was waiting for the park to clear out a bit. He had the top of his board in his hand, looking away from you with the beach behind him, looking like he was posing. Maybe he was, but you were too immersed in your sketching to care. You curled up a bit on yourself, trying to keep the warmth as close to you as possible. Chan stayed like that for a few more seconds, allowing you to finish the rough draft of his silhouette. Then, he started riding his board again, sometimes closing your eyes to remember details of him and his handsome face.
“Have you gotten bored?” Chan joked as he came back after a while, wiping the light sweat off his forehead and sat down next to you again. You chuckled and put your pencil down, closing the notebook between your fingers. “Nah I’m fine, let’s say that I suddenly got inspired.” His eyes went from your face to your notebook and he pointed at it. “I still can’t have a look at it, can I?” you shrugged and he faked an annoying huff, pushing his hair back and deeply breathed. “It’s not that good, but you can see it. Only that page, I’ll murder you if you flip through it.” He smirked at your warning and opened the sketchbook, his eyes widening at your drawing of him. “It looks so good! So real!” he said as he took a closer look of your piece of art. “I want a poster out of that, Y/N, you’re so talented.” “Chan, it’s just a rough sketch, you humbly mumbled as you tried to get your sketchbook back, but he extended his arm away from you, teasing you by trying to flip the page with his thumb. “Stooop,” you whined and Chan smiled, softly grunting as you laid your hand on his thigh, shifting your weight to try and grab your precious item.
“I’ll give it back to you only if you kiss me,” he said in your ear and you almost fell at his words. You looked at him and your eyes widened at your sudden proximity, red softly decorating your cheeks. Chan was smirking as he still held your notebook above your heads, arm slowly going numb as you took your sweet time to stare into each other’s eyes. You slowly leant and grabbed his jaw, making sure that he wouldn’t move his face as you kissed the soft skin of his cheek. He huffed as you ruined his entire plan but gave you your sketchbook back anyway.
“You’re so not funny,” he mumbled as you put everything that belonged to you in your bag. Zipping it up, you smiled at him and went to sit on his legs, surprising him. You weren’t usually the one to initiate skinship, but he wasn’t complaining when you did. Chan’s arms wrapped around your shoulders and thighs, enveloping you in a tight embrace. His nose touched your neck and you gasped as you felt his warm lips laying a soft kiss on your sensitive skin.
“Not here,” you whispered, and he laughed. “Come on, it’s just a kiss on the neck, it’s not that deep,” he stated and you heavily blushed, pulling the hood above your head and nestling into his neck. He smelt like cologne and laundry, it was very comforting to be in his arms. Chan’s hands drew you a bit away from him, making you turn to the side, your legs wrapped around him. You were now straddling him, and Chan rested his head on your chest. You rubbed the back of his head and he sighed in content, tightening his grip around you.
“I love you,” he mumbled, completely out of the blue, which startled you. “Come again?” you said, not sure that you heard him quite right. “I love you,” he didn’t hesitate to repeat, his hands going under your sweater and t-shirt, softly rubbing your back as he looked up at you from his spot in your arms. “Since I saw you for the first time, you’re constantly running in my mind. I never told you that but, when we first met in the bus, I almost went off with you like the second time, but I didn’t know what to say or do when I’d reach you. I’m glad that my friends pushed me to come and talk to you because I’ve never been this happy since I’m seeing you.” You laid your hands on his shoulders to make him properly look at you and he had the most delicate eyes that you’ve ever seen on him. Cupping his cheeks, you smiled, softly bumping his nose with yours. He chuckled but you both became serious again, Chan’s eyes leaving yours to land on your lips. He looked back up at you and you nodded, allowing him to capture your lips in a sweet kiss.
Your mouths moved in sync, the kiss bringing you nothing but happiness. Chan had managed to break down your ice walls, comfortably installing himself and his love in your heart. It felt warm, he knew that he was in a good and safe place, and so were you. Chan, under his skater, e-boyish appearance, hid a loving heart, filled with attention and kindness. He felt like trusting again, and he was right. Having you by his side made him feel like nothing could hurt him. You protected each other’s hearts, and that’s the only thing that the two of you needed; someone caring and loving.

MY FAVOURITE ROMANCE NOVELS OF 2020
HM: The Minute I Saw You by Paige Toon; Fair As A Star by Mimi Matthews; You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle
10. Take A Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert - loved, loved, loved these MCs. They were both so well-realised and multi-faceted. Zafir may be one of my favourite heroes ever and the depiction of a South Asian family here is also an all-time fave?? No boring, tired, sad diaspora vibes? No overused tropes re: Muslims? MIRACULOUS. So Zaf is a romance novel-reading lover of love and Dani is Not About Relationships. Unstoppable force meets immovable object etc etc.
9. Two Rogues Make A Right by Cat Sebastian - the ultimate in hurt/comfort decadence. Literally the entire plot is one person is really sick and the other person spends the entire rest of the book looking after them. LIKE, MAYBE THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT HAPPENS? It takes a bit to get into it but also the sick one is kinda villainous and the one looking after him believes there’s good in him despite all evidence to the contrary. V good dynamic!
8. Wild At Heart by K.A. Tucker - I read and LOVED The Simple Wild last year and was so happy the author decided to write a sequel. I would read ALL the books about these two characters just living their life in this universe. I know Tucker is branching out and writing about other characters in the ‘verse and: eh. I only want to read about Calla riding snowmobiles and Jonah telling her how competent she is I’m sorry!!! Wild At Heart focuses less on romance and more on Calla getting used to Alaska but it’s still satisfying seeing them work out how to compromise and start a new life together.
7. Beach Read by Emily Henry - I love when a romance novel has a lot of hype and it lives up to expectations (see The Roommate for the opposite, ugh that book was bad.) Honestly I get off just on the blurb of this book: he writes pretentious literary fiction! she’s a bestselling romance author! they help each other write and slowly fall in love at the same time! It also deals with slightly heavier themes and there is focus on a recent death and some other stuff which I know a few people struggled with but there’s plenty of humour and light-heartedness so it all works imo
6. A Dangerous Kind of Lady by Mia Vincy - It is so rare for me to like every book in a Historical Romance series but Mia Vincy’s Longhope Abbey is 3/3 atm. I loved the first two (as mentioned last year) and this one is an A+ addition (ngl I have qualms about the fourth book but I think MV has won some trust at this point so.) We originally met these MCs in the first book when they were introduced as very happily married and devoted so rewinding to them being conflict-stricken and angst-ridden youths was great.
5. You Say It First by Katie Cotugno - So I simultaneously adored this and also found it irritating. This book focuses on ‘liberal’ Meg who has progressive values and is very involved in things like voter registration phonebanks. She ends up on the phone with Colby who is her age and struggling with his family’s lack of money, his dead-end job, etc and has no time to discuss how the electoral system could help him. From a political point this had the potential to be really interesting but I think it’s pretty mishandled by the author. I think she could have done a much better job at writing a character who has no faith in the political system for valid reaons but like, some of Colby’s opinions are just nonsensical? Also Meg often feels ‘liberal’ in a way that is twee and annoying and superficial. Why did I place this so high when I have such a list of complaints??? Despite all this, the relationship between Meg and Colby is so sweet and satisfying and well-built. Most it it takes place over the phone and I love that liminal space that exists just for the two of them. It managed to outweight my negatives!!!
4. If We Were Us by K.L. Walther - I know people have had qualms with this book but I still loved it. The boarding school vibes; the friendships; the siblings. Quintessential YA things done well! Sage and Charlie are best friends and would be perfect together (valedictorian types) except Sage is far more into Charlie’s twin brother (v not valedictorian type) and Charlie isn’t into girls at all. Two good, satisfying romantic relationships found here folks!
3. Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall - FAKE DATING EXCELLENCE. I think every year I need something new to fill this particular category and Boyfriend Material is a really stellar entry. That being said, I don’t think there’s much actual fake dating going on in this book apart from premise-wise but we move! Luc and Oliver have a good mix of awareness and conflict so you get the Good Stuff TM of them being together and sweet and wonderful while still having to wait for their climactic Get Together.
2. Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon - I’m obsessed with “I’ve hated you all along! Wait... have I?” narratives and it’s executed so perfectly here. Rowan and Neil are two massive nerds and competitive rivals who end up spending their last hours of school together. There is very little plot to this book - it is almost 100% relationship development and hangout time - which is almost always all I ever want from romance.
1. Mix Tape by Jane Sanderson - I read this all the way back in January (what a completely different time in the world!) so it’s a testament to how good it is that I still feel strongly enough about it to give it pride of first place. This is the kind of book - because it’s not reeeeally genre fiction - that seems destined for a sad or, at the very least, ambigious ending but (HA!) it provides a warm, wholly satisfying happily ever after. Anyway if you’re into second chances after decades and decades apart and people communicating through songs and yearning and never being able to Let Go - this is for you!

Gaps Between Worlds || Live, Love, Link
Nothing keeps a story going like a love interest. In almost every adventure story, at some point, the hero flirts with love, falls into it, is blinded by it, or is even betrayed by it. Love is the strongest emotional connection we share as humans, a double edged sword that can drive us, but also hinder us. Even when a story lacks a love interest, the listeners might begin to imagine one just to keep themselves interested. One adventure series has lacked cannon love for such a long time, it's hard to imagine how it’s been kept alive in our collective consciousness for as long as it has. The Legend of Zelda has jump-cut to Link saving Zelda so many times, but remains nebulous on what kind of relationship blossoms from their journey. As a longtime fan, I have been starving for more from the world of Hyrule, and I think fans across the world agree with me. The official Nintendo Hyrule Timeline wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for pressure from the fans. Before that release, it had been locked inside the mind of Miyamoto, creator of the series. But it didn’t really whet my appetite, because what I wanted is to know of Link and Zelda. Today, we are going to explore the facets of Link and Zelda’s many re-incarnated relationships, which could have turned into love, and where they must have gone after Gannon was sealed and their adventure came to an end.
Before we go any further, the usual caveats to my writing, just so you can get where my head is at. First, I am not going to be super concerned with minute details of the timeline in its purest sense. It has a tenuous linear connection from one game to the next, but it still can provide a little fun for us to speculate on. Second, I have completed every mainline adventure with two exceptions. I have made it to the end of Link’s Adventure and Twilight Princess, but I just never walked up those steps to beat Gannon. I can’t really put my finger on why, but usually I just lost interest by the time I made it to the end of the game. Everything else, including the GB, GBA, and DS releases, I have completed.
In the beginning, one of the most bizarre parts of the overall Zelda lore is how little we actually discuss Link’s obligation to do anything for Zelda. As the games mature, they motivate Link in more realistic ways, but I felt that they mostly lacked a real punch. Lets imagine you DID NOT read the manual for the NES titles, the original LoZ, it just starts by breaking the 4th wall. I always thought it was funny that it just drops you into the mountains with absolutely no direction, as if to say, “You bought the game, dummy, do something! Press a button… ooo… check out that cave!” However, what actually happens is Link saves Zelda’s handmaid, Impa, from an attack by some of Gannon’s henchmen. She then begs him to find the 8 fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom, which Zelda has hidden in 8 dungeons, and he just resolves to do it. In the next game though, she’s just struck with Sleepy Disney Princess disease. Classic. But have you ever noticed that true love’s kiss wasn’t an option here? That’s because Link is not her true love in this incarnation, so he has to kill the curse maker. LoZ and Link’s Adventure are directly related, so we know that in between the two games, they never became lovers. And I don’t know if you need any more proof about these games, but if you ever watched the 80’s Zelda cartoon… you’d know she’s better off.
Climbing up this timeline, we end up at the incredible Link To The Past, a story that’s titular description kind of defies its storyline unless you are really paying attention. Either way, the game has Link, a descendant of Hyrule Knights, being woken up by a psychic message from Zelda. As usual, Link has no real discernible parentage, but he does start off with an uncle. As I grew up, I often wondered if this was his real uncle or the Asian kind of uncle, just an older man with the same familial distance as an actual uncle, just not actually related. (It goes without saying that the west has this kind of uncle as well, but rarely does it rear its head as ubiquitously as in the east) Who knows what happened to his parents, the game never really goes into it. Either way, he runs into his possibly real uncle after following Zelda’s request, only, he is mortally wounded, and with his final breath, he begs Link to take up his blade and his responsibility. Again, he is motivated simply by some sense of obligation, but there is never a moment's glance of flirtation or love. By the end of the game, he revives his Uncle, the Priest, and the King, only to get on a boat and end up ship wrecked on Koholint island, where he dreams up a girl who is much more likely to become someone he could have a life with rather than Zelda.
Let’s take a quick moment to recognize Link has about 5 or 6 games that have nothing to do with his relationship to Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, Majora’s Mask, and Minish Cap to name a few. In these games, it rarely meditates on his relationship to his previous adventure or the girl he left behind. Link is a very forward thinking… little boy? Adolescent? Teenager? It depends on the game. The more I think about this, maybe the more obvious it really is supposed to be. Zelda, Link, and Gannon are reborn into conflict over and over again. It’s possible that the stories that we play through are the only time they are born into a point of conflict. Basically, Link and Zelda might be born into a world without each other. Maybe the world only falls into chaos when all 3 of them are born. Maybe only when a certain amount of power accumulates on the dark side. The story just makes room for whatever it finds appropriate.
Climbing up the timeline, we get to the only game that implied young romance, Ocarina Of Time. Granted, it kind of dashes this with Majora’s Mask, but it's possible he could return to Hyrule for love. He is only 10. Still, in OoT, Link is the only character that keeps his memory of both the young timeline and the teen timeline. When you think about it, Link is pretty mature for a 10 year old, but waking up in the body of a 17 year old would throw you a bit. People in the future might have found him odd… if they weren’t scattered to the winds and mostly worried about famine, death, and Gannon. In both his young and teen timeline, the Zora princess is very interested in him, and yet, the game still ends with a longing look between Zelda and Link, Link remembering everything, Zelda new to the whole thing. Now, I am willing to admit that as a kid, I probably misread this as a longing look, as an adult, it's really just the culmination of Link’s struggle to finally right all the wrongs, but I was a young shipper, and I wanted everyone to fall in love. (You are reading the thoughts of a boy who was super upset that Ash wasn’t awakened by a kiss from Misty (or Pikachu), and instead the tears of all the Pokemon. I almost walked out of the theater. I was a fresh-faced 13.) Given everything we know about both games, and that we know the timeline splits here, it would stand to reason that since in either case, triumphant or not, Link doesn’t end up making baby Link and Linkles with Zelda. In the Triumphant Timeline Child Era, none of the games end with Link in love, including Twilight Princess. In the Adult Era, the Wind Waker series of games always finds Link closely aligned with Zelda, but the whole cell-shaded, PG universe basically ensures that all the people of Hyrule are grown out of the ground, like palm trees on the beach. In the end, Link always makes for the nearest boat or horse and follows the sun, trying to escape the PTSD that haunts him.
Finally, at the very beginning of the timeline is the largely maligned Skyward Sword. As of this writing, SS is the supposed beginning to the entire legend. It is also one of the few games where there does seem to be an infatuation between Zelda and Link. Throughout the game, they share what looks to be a mild flirtation. When I thought about this budding romance, I began to think it only appears that way because of some cultural filters. First, Nintendo likes to make games for kids, so they aim to get an E rating by the ESRB. So if we ratchet that up to M, the standard for modern day games if you want people to take them seriously, we can adjust the love meter on scale with E = Sesame Street and M = Breaking Bad. They might as well be engaging in some hard sexting, maybe a couple of low-cut Link bathroom mirror selfies. Don’t worry, he has his famous hat over the goods. Why do you think its shaped like that? Secondly, mild flirting in Japan is the equivalent of hardcore furry S&M in America. In actuality, what you are really seeing is the courtship of Link in a Wolf costume and Zelda dressed as a Fire Keese batting eyes at each other. Truly, in this world, Link and Zelda are destined for each other. They are the only freaks in the sky! With this assumption, I can conclude that the legend only continues because once, at the very beginning of their timeline, the Triforce of Courage and Wisdom banged it out. This could mean there is a whole series of games we have never played where the timeline is split at the top. One in which they have children and one where they don’t. Personally, I look forward to their kids journey in The Legend of Steve, the new holder of the Triforce of Wisdom. Let a girl save the boy for once!
There is always hope for our legendary heroes. You may not want them to be joined in glorious, child-making coitus, but I always have. I have always found it odd that it doesn’t end like most JRPG’s with a very obvious death of the “mains” so that love can’t blossom, or with a lavish royal wedding. The worst part is that often, Link has many love interests, but none of them are Zelda. There is some hope for them in the new Breath of the Wild timeline, which is supposedly the furthest in the future of the “official” timeline, so much so that there is no connective tissue left, so it might as well be a “new beginning”. I would actually hate for them to finally, really, fall in love in the BotW universe, mostly because it's my least favorite Zelda game of all time, squeaking past Skyward Sword and Wind Waker. All 3 of which I dislike for a combination of gameplay-style and story, though honestly, the best part of BotW is the story. It's just a game I never want to play again. Rambling aside, I look forward to the fate of love between Zelda and Link in their next chapter. Maybe we’ll finally play as their love child some day.

REVIEW
The Gritty Truth by Melissa Foster
The Whiskeys #7
Quincy Gritt and Roni Wescott both had parents that were not there for them when they were growing up. Roni was lucky enough to have a grandmother there to aid her achieve her dreams, but Quincy had only a bit older brother to keep him safe. The two met through a bachelor auction then texted for months before actually going on a date. The connection between them was strong but would they be able to honestly communicate, share past traumas, and then move forward to create a future together? It was well worth the read to find out.
What I liked:
* Roni: Strong, focused, big-hearted, giving and loving, there for the man that captured her heart.
* Quincy: Generous, loving, intelligent, family oriented, focused, romantic, and a man there for his woman.
* That Roni and Quincy were open, honest, and communicated openly with one another.
* That the two were both able to overcome huge obstacles and do so in a positive way
* The love shown between the two
* The frank open way drug abuse/addiction is discussed in the book
* The supporting cast of characters
* That this book is standalone and easily read without having read previous books in the series
* All of it really except…
What I did not like:
* Puck: what a horrible person he was!
* The childhood Quincy and his siblings suffered through
* The life changing injury Roni suffered
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in the series? Yes
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4.5 Stars
BLURB
A fun, sexy, and emotionally riveting new standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster. THE GRITTY TRUTH is the perfect love story for those who enjoy fiercely loyal and insanely sexy alpha heroes, smart, sassy heroines, strong family bonds, bikers, babies, and more! Recovering drug addict Quincy Gritt has fought his demons. He’s confessed to his crimes and conquered his addictions. He’s finally ready to go after sweet, sexy Roni, the gorgeous brunette who won a date with him in a charity auction five months ago and has been putting him off, and driving him wild, ever since. Dancer Veronica “Roni” Wescott worked hard to escape the seedy area where she was raised and followed her dreams to Julliard, only to have them shattered in the blink of an eye. She fought hard and regained her footing, but then the rug was pulled out from under her again when the grandmother who raised her passed away, leaving Roni feeling adrift in a world she knows very little about outside of dance. And then there's Charlie Hunnam–lookalike Quincy Gritt—the man whose late-night texts pulled her through her grief and have been setting her heart aflutter for months. Quincy pulls out all the stops, determined to prove that their friendship is only the beginning of what’s destined to be so much more. Romantic nights lead to smoldering passion and a deep connection too strong to be denied. But when Quincy’s past comes back to haunt him, can he and Roni accept their new gritty truth, or will Quincy spiral back into the darkness and lose the future he fought so hard to have? Rules: Always post the rules. Tag 11 new people you’d like to know better!(not gonna tag anyone, but feel free to steal and say I tagged you if you wanna)
1. Dogs or Cats?
I love both, only own dogs, buuut do have a slight preference for cats.
2. YouTube celebrities or normal celebrities?
I... don’t care? I guess normal since I don’t really know/follow any yt celebs.
3. If you could live anywhere where would that be?
Probably Texas? I have friends who live in San Antonio I’ve visited a few times and it’s so pretty. Also, I hate snow, and they don’t get a lot there most of the time. :P Alternately, somewhere in a better timezone for watching CR; I’m three hours behind so almost never get to watch live.
4. Disney or DreamWorks?
Another don’t really care. The movie quality is more important than who put it out. If it’s a well written, acted, and told story, I’m probably not even going to pay attention to the company responsible.
5. Favorite childhood TV show?
WISHBONE. Also, Zoom, Reading Rainbow, and Magic School Bus, but Wishbone will always be /cough top dog. OH WAIT THE REDWALL SHOW I FORGOT THAT. Hmm. Redwall and Wishbone are tied.
6. The movie you’re looking forward to most in 2020?
That new Miss Fisher one; Crypt of Tears. Tbh, I haven’t even been following what comes out in 2020?
7. Favorite book you read in 2019?
It was a whole bunch of rereading old favorites, I didn’t read anything new, so any answer is gonna feel like cheating, but I’ll say Dark Force Rising bc I never get tired of reading Leia be a BAMF diplomat.
8. Marvel or DC?
Marvel, I guess. (I’ve only dipped a toe into the comic/cartoons and mostly know the movies)
9. If you choose Marvel favorite member of the X-Men? If you choose DC favorite Justice League member?
Nightcrawler or Storm. I’m more a Captain America or Hawkeye girl than X-Men, but I’ve always thought those two(and Rogue and Gambit) were cool.
10. Night or Day?
Day.
11. Favorite Pokemon?
I never got into pokemon so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I know nothing Jon Snow
12. Top 5 bands/artists: (not in preference order)
Kelly Clarkson
Relient K
Walk the Moon
Skillet
Lifehouse
13. Top 10 books(these are not in order, and I’m counting series as a single entry, fight me)
The Lord of the Rings
Quadrail series(Zahn)
Dracula
Redwall books
Northanger Abbey
Rogue Squadron books(at least the Stackpole ones, haven’t read further)

Hand of Thrawn Trilogy(Zahn)
14. Top 4 movies
Beauty and the Beast
Lord of the Rings(whole thing)
Clue
Captain America: the Winter Soldier
15. America or Europe?
America, I guess? I’ve never been to Europe so I feel like I can’t accurately judge? But a lot of my friends live in various countries there, so I’d love to visit someday. :D
16. Tumblr or Twitter?
Tumblr. Better posting medium for pictures and fanfiction/stories. I’ve always preferred a blog format. Twitter is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, which some days I think we might be better without.(I”m keeping this bc SAME)
17. Favorite vacation destination?
Colonial Williamsburg or the beach. Williamsburg--aside from feeding my inner history nerd--has lots of fond memories from family trips when I was a kid(my grandparents had a timeshare they’d let us use).
18. Favorite YouTuber?
Uh.... probably some Let’s Player like Schaly or ChristopherOdd, maybe Toegoff?(look, Schaly played the ME trilogy as a vanguard femShep who romanced Kaidan and made *brows* “debriefing” jokes while cackling about being a human grenade in ME3, how can I not love her?)
19. Favorite author?
JRR Tolkien and Timothy Zahn
20. Tea or Coffee?
COFFEE
21. OTP?
That’s... too hard to answer. :P I have too many from various media. Tip-top of the heap is probably either Harvey/Trinne or Perc’ahlia, I guess.
22. Do you play an instrument/sing?
I don’t anymore. I used to play piano but stopped when I was about twelve.

Attack on Titan Chapter 123 Review
youtube
Is it possible for a person to take a different path than what was given to them? Is it possible to avoid what could be inevitable? Is it possible if a person said something that could have avoided the path that will bring annihilation? These are the questions that popped up in my head after reading this chapter. One moment could be the decisive factor to the overall story. What’s done is done, and this is the endgame.
The last chapter had me floored with the Rumbling. Eren has unleashed hell or deeper hell on Earth that might as well end with everyone dead. It’s complete madness; I don’t know how this will all end. Instead of the chapter open up with carnage, it begins with a flashback. While I’m not upset due to my anticipation for the Rumbling, I’m upset due to revisiting a forgiving sensation of peace and happiness. It doesn’t help that Sasha was there, so I can’t help but feel moved by this atmosphere. It’s welcoming, but there’s a great reason for this flashback.
It was the time for Survey Corps to visit Marley for the first time. I still can’t fathom that Isayama killed off Sasha, for she still provided humorous moments, including how she blatantly expose themselves as people from inside the walls. I really like the reactions from many characters toward the “technological advancement” compare to their homeland. The car part had me laughing a lot. They honestly thought it’s a species. It’s even funnier with Levi too thought the same, and warned them that it will hurt them. This is a nice change of pace.
The amusement continues with the introduction of ice cream. They made everything “new” seem like a big deal. I like Isayama poking fun on Levi with his stature. The clown thought he was a child, which annoyed him deep inside. Hell, it got intensified (somehow) with the cold stare. It’s only when Levi turned around that everything went back to normal. I do like Isayama’s humor. It’s the soothing atmosphere that fans needed the most. Even Mikasa eating ice cream felt comforting. I promise it’s normal as it sounds; like their beach scene.
In the midst of relaxation, Eren was the only one who appeared lost and possibly broken. If you recall, his goal was to go beyond the wall and see the world with his friends, Armin and Mikasa. Here he was, nothing to glee or feel alive. It’s a downer. He can’t help but look torn in front of his friends, yet they don’t notice his turmoil; or rather, don’t want to notice. It’s a conflicting feeling to deal with. A friend has a problem; how can one approach to them?
The sad part is, the trip didn’t astonish him since he has seen the memory of his father. The memories and likely the future have ruined his anticipation and expectation. It doesn’t help that the notion of Eldain and the mistreatment corrupted his view, even when the outside world is vast. There’s a nice page shot of the market with everyone on a casual time with Eren appearing separated from the rest aside of Mikasa, who was trying to comfort him. I feel bad for the two, but it gets more intimate later on.
The atmosphere changes quickly once Levi apprehended a boy who was pickpocketing. That small moment led to a dark movement. All the citizens instantly turned cruel, like they have flipped the switch from polite to crazy. Mind you, he’s just a boy, yet the citizens wanted to throw him overboard or smash his hand just to make an example to trespassers. Needless to say, it’s ludicrous.
It fortunately leads to an uplifting outcome with Levi saving the boy from crazies. Not to say he never helps, but it’s neat to see him helping without the need of killing. I chuckled at Hange and Sasha playing the family to protect the kid. The kid may have kept the wallet or bag, but it’s all good spirit from all ends. All except Eren, who looked once again lost. It plays a part later however.
They met with Kiyori to discuss the planning for peace treaty. As we know now, that path is definitely no longer an option. However, this established the difficulty that might as well deemed as impossible. It’s the unfortunate situation that resonates with reality with its own world problem. In this case, Paradis Island only wanted to be accepted, but after over a century, not counting on its origin, how can that happen in a day? It hurts to read their interactions, because everything they wanted to avoid came true, including Zeke’s strategy. They didn’t want any part of it. As the recent saying goes, reality is often disappointing.
Eren wasn’t there, which hinted the lack of connection. Yes, he went elsewhere to watch the boy and the family, but the way how he was illustrated to be distanced from his friends is quite telling. Mikasa found him with a tear flow. It is eerie how he noted nothing has happened to the family yet; keyword: yet. Ever since the past chapters, his words have grown cryptic and disturbing. He saw the family as similar as them: lost their home and freedom.
Now, I want to give you a heads-up on the next part. Pardon me for going into a brief analysis mode. Perhaps next time, I will do a separate post for analysis only. This is going to focus on the next scene, which sparked my interest heavily. We may jump back and forth here and there, but it’s for the sake to connect the pieces. Let’s begin.
Aside from the final scene, the one moment that grasped my attention significantly is Eren’s possibly deciding factor to his path with a question to Mikasa. This honestly threw me off as I wasn’t expecting an intimate moment; well, it’s arguable, but it’s unusual, mainly from Eren. He wanted to know why Mikasa is so attached to him. Why would she forever be on his side? What is he to her? That completely flustered her like a flirted school girl in anime. My eyes opened up like a shipping fan. Sadly, she replied with “family.” Ouch.
Let’s start off with Mikasa first. It’s believable for her to be in a confused state. She was easily caught off-guarded from Eren’s question. I felt the same way; it wasn’t like him to ask this type of question. Her pause clearly indicate that she has no clue how to respond with certainty. It wasn’t like she know right away. From the look of it, it appears Isayama has planted the seed to conclude her personal feelings.
One would believe her reply was good enough. However, in the later scene, she questioned herself if the endgame path would have been different if she responded differently, with the panel of the very scene no less. Basically, Isayama has written this scene as a wrong choice. I know the following scene has Eren feeling fine during the party, but it doesn’t dismiss the other possibility that could have been more appropriate for him. There’s multiple paths for a person to take and one may be the best outcome out of the rest. The question is, is Mikasa in love with Eren?
I am aware the series isn’t aiming for romance, though there have been romantic touch lately such as Gabi and Falco for instance. However, it doesn’t mean Isayama can’t ever introduce its element. Throughout the series, there has been hints or indirect moments that connect to Mikasa’s feelings that suggest more than sibling love; that includes the comical jealous scene. This chapter made it clearer that her attachment is above family love with her blushing and hesitation. Also, if that answer wasn’t “good enough,” then the next level is romantic love. I don’t see how lowering her level would please Eren.
Does it mean she knows she loves him? I don’t know. Although her curiosity suggest she does, maybe she really doesn’t know; at least at that time. You can see her either shying away to answer him with her true feelings, or struggled, not realizing what she truly feels and go with the one he already know. Does it matter now since the path has taken off? Possibly. The series isn’t over, so whatever Isayama has in mind with this notion, it’s likely to be a significant factor.
Now, this is tricky as we tackle on Eren’s side. To understand his reason is a puzzle itself. We must keep in mind that we never got to understand his inner thoughts and emotions. We have relied on other characters, or in this case Mikasa, to grasp an idea of his being. We would learn his motive and goal by the end, but we can’t exactly exploit his psychological state. Not to mention, how his mind operates as Attack Titan. It’s important to know his side of the story. We can only theorize until he finally speaks. With that said, let’s think about this.
Why Eren asked her that question? There’s two possible reasons. One in which is to test his fate or future reading. Have she said a different answer, perhaps he would feel a little better to know fate isn’t predetermined. As of late, it has been told that fate appears to be made and nothing Eren can do will change that. However, Zeke tested that and although the outcome may be the same, his statement has some weight left. Maybe the destination point is set, but not the journey. That’s only if Eren and his foreseen future is confirmed set in stone.
The other reason is, perhaps he loves her. Why ask that question that can be presented as romantic? What was he trying to gain there? As you noticed by now, Eren was depressed. He needed a comfort or anything that will tell him, “Life is good.” I’m no doctor at psychology, but often in media, love is described as powerful. Have Mikasa confessed her love, the path may have been different.
Don’t get me wrong. I can’t say for a fact that Eren wouldn’t go with the plan if she confessed. However, I do believe it would have some effect. What kind? We may never know. It’s a “what if” question that has no concrete solution. My main proof is chapter 50. Remember when Eren submitted to defeat and Mikasa expressed her heartfelt feelings, thanking him for everything? Eren turnaround after her words. Maybe Eren was praying for her to open up like last time, but instead, she blocked herself. It doesn’t help when the old man and their friends arrived to break the atmosphere. You can argue that he was frustrated when he said, “Perfect timing.”
It’s worth remembering the scene back in chapter 121 where Eren was watching his young-self wrapping his scarf around Mikasa. He was completely focused; didn’t respond to Zeke’s calling. Was that a hint? Come to think of it, it’s rather awkward to look back at chapter 112. If Eren took her answer as rejection, then the scene where he told her he hated her since the beginning comes off as an odd revenge. Like this is his way to get back at her. You broke my heart; now I’ll break yours. Of course, this is not true, though interesting choice of words from Eren. It was the complete opposite of love. Isayama isn’t shy from subtlety.
You may be wondering, “Why would Eren want love, especially from Mikasa?” For one thing, they are very close. More importantly, it’s likely his personal needs have matured. He’s grown up now; eventually, adulthood kicks in to their mental state. Maybe he saw her as a woman, not a sister. There are many series out there where love can change a person. One has the character converted because of it; saving him from suffering. Eren was suffering. Maybe we would have chapter 125 of “that” series happening here. Weird, because we’re almost at 125. Perfect timing.
Joking aside, it’s abundantly clear Isayama wants the fans to keep this moment in mind. I can’t confirm if this is based on romantic love, but it can possibly go to that route, now that Mikasa’s feeling is finally put into the test. Grisha founded peace with the second family with a better intention. Eren perhaps wanted the same, but judging by the end, it’s too little too late. Back to the review.
On the lighter note, after the tension between Eren and Mikasa broke, everyone joined the feast with homeless people. It’s relaxing and heartwarming. There’s no dialogue, but its visual express the tenderness that won’t replicate again. Quite amusing to see how each character acts when they are drunk. I like how Jeane and Connie brought in more drinks to continue the fun. Only Levi and Hange didn’t join in; must be the clown that stopped them. In all seriousness, it was great. The last panel with Eren, Mikasa, and Armin sleeping left me feeling sad; this may be the last time.
The meeting with the nations destroyed the possibility of peace with Paradis Island as everyone declared them as devils. That was the final nail to the coffin. Eren disappeared and the rest began in chapter 100. Let’s say if Mikasa did confess. Perhaps it would have stopped him from disappearing and instead, stick together. It reminds me of another series, whereas every development counts to determine the character’s fate. With no support, this is his fate.
It’s worth noting this was narrated by Mikasa, which I thought it is fitting. Her narration speaks for us fans on Eren’s true character. We are still bewildered, but slowly, we learning more and more. It’s most necessary to receive his side of the story, so we can only speculate. Based on how she ended, it left her with a regret. I can’t say it will make a huge difference, but anything is better than nothing. It’s back to the present and god almighty, she couldn’t be any more right.
The sight of a Titan army with one incredibly large one, most likely Eren, is bone-chilling. I think it’s safe to say we are in for an Evangelion ending, or in recent years, Devilman. I remember the audio of the ending played at the exhibit. Now it’s making a lot of sense with this revelation. The large incomplete form Titan is dangerously frightening. It looks like it’s forming a dinosaur body, but I think it will be like Rod Reiss’s Ttian, only larger. The fact it’s larger than the army is faint-worthy.
I appreciate the realistic atmosphere of the rising behemoths. It’s so damn loud, Armin has to shout to inform Mikasa on Eren’s true intention. It would be silly if it was all muted, so nice work on the detail. Armin finally enlightens her that Eren has always been on their side. He believes Eren only wanted to do the Rumbling to crush the Allied Forces at Marley and protect Paradis Island. He is right on the crushing the enemy part; however, the scale is far, far more than he thought, and that’s being generous.
It occurs that Wall Maria is also going down, which is unnecessary according to Armin. Sure, the more firepower, the better, but it’s more than enough to crush one nation. I thought the Rumbling was the most likely choice for Eren. While that remains true, the scale is what I got it wrong. By this point, I was shaking as if I was there. It becomes clear when Eren communicates to all subjects of Ymir through PATHS. I got chills from the pages alone.
It’s heart-wrenching with each passing page with each line slowly builds up to Eren’s goal. At least Pieck is alive, so that’s one bright spot. Anyway, it’s probably the first since time-skip that we hear his feelings. He had enough of everyone’s wish to eliminate Paradis Island. In return, he will protect his people and kill everyone outside the island; by that, I mean mass genocide. Well, that went completely dark. I’m honestly stunned. Technically, Eren has become the final villain. God, the last pages were blistering cold level of chills. I felt the anger. To put it simple: the good news is, Eren is back; the bad news is, Eren is back. What a twisted world.
This was a great chapter. It may not have progressed the story further, but the depth of its characters continue to impress. The flashback was an emotional rollercoaster; from tenderness to depressing. I apologize for going on long with the analysis, but I know it’s essential since Isayama highlighted as a turning point in some regards. The present timeline was seriously bone-chilling. The presentation was great. The revelation left me awed. It’s simple, but the depth is what sold me. I’m sure Armin and Mikasa don’t approve this, but the damage is done. If the world wants a villain like Eren, they got their wish. Now, fight or die.

How Can I Resist You? Prologue: I Wonder
Tom Holland Mamma Mia AU
Your family decides to spend the summer in Kalokiari. You had your whole life planned out, but you never planned on someone like him. A cheeky, cocky boy named Tom Holland. You promised yourself you wouldn’t fall prey to his playboy ways, but how can you resist him?
Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader
Word Count: 836
Warnings: Can’t think of any! If you feel there’s anything to add please comment or message me and I’d be happy to do so!
Series Masterlist | Maserlist | Album | Listen to the song here!
“Where are you headed?” Your flatmate asked as you shoved a shirt into your in suitcase, having to sit on it to latch it.
“Some little island in Greece my parents found. Kalokairi I think?” You said, grunting slightly as you finally managed to close the bag.
“Sounds exotic, better than rainy ‘ol London. So what are your plans? Beach and a summer romance?” She smirked, an eyebrow raised in insinuation.
“Most certainly not.” You shook your head, putting your shoes on.
“Why not? What will you do then to fill the whole summer there?” She argued.
“Well what do I normally do?” You asked.
“Read books, study and be boring.” She retorted.
“Well that sounds like a plan to me.” You shrugged, slipping your coat on.
“You could do that here! Why go all the way over there?” She asked, following you as you grabbed your bag and made your way towards the front of the flat.
“A change of scenery I guess, one last summer before being thrown into the inevitable banality of life. Plus my parents are paying, I’m meeting them there.” You smiled.
“Well I hope you find what you’re looking for.” She placed a hand on her hip.
“And what’s that?” You turned in the doorway to face her.
“Yourself? Where you belong?” She suggested.
“And how would I possibly know if I find that.” You shook your head.
“You’ll know.” She said, a small smile grew on your face. You took a deep breath and closed the door behind you.
You sat at the airport, fidgeting with the belt on your jacket while you waited for your plane.
When your parents suggested spending the whole summer in Greece, you were more than skeptical. Your whole life was in London now. You were about to graduate from college and establish your life here. Of course you missed your parents back in America, but three months seemed like a long time to be away.
You could be spending that time working and saving up money, networking, building professional relationships. Maybe your flatmate was right, maybe you were boring. You liked to think of yourself as driven and dedicated, but maybe you were just boring. Maybe a summer away would do you some good.
(Start song here!)
I wonder, it’s frightening.
Leaving now, is that the right thing?
I wonder, it scares me.
You stood in line at Starbucks in the airport, needing a pick me up before this long flight. You weren’t paying attention, you were busy daydreaming about what the future holds for you when a voice in front of you jolted you out of it.
“And whatever this beautiful lady wants.” The guy in front of you in line flashed a cheeky smile as he motioned to you, attempting to buy your drink.
“Oh, you really don’t have to do that.” You smiled politely.
“Come on love, I insist.” He smirked, you raised an eyebrow but gave in, giving the barista your order.
You knew guys like him, the type who thinks he can buy a woman’s affection. The kind of guy who can and does have whatever woman he wants. A player, who treats women as disposable pleasures instead of meaningful pursuits. You certainly knew better than to fall for that.
“Care to have a seat?” He asked once your coffee was ready. You noticed the name on his cup read ‘Tom’.
“I guess I’ve got time.” You nodded, sitting across from him, “You know there’s a certain type of guy who tries to pick up women in an airport.”
“Really? Do tell.” He asked, intrigued.
“The type of guy who knows full well that any resulting relations would be no more than a hookup. A stranger you’d likely never see again as they return to their destination far away from here. Or tourists in London for a few nights, looking for a guy to show them the world... for a night or two anyway. You make them feel special, and in a few days time they’re back off to where they came from. No strings. Am I wrong?” You smirk.
“None of the others ever seem to catch on, maybe it’s because I’m so charming.” He smirked.
“Maybe it’s because any intelligent woman can see you coming a mile away. Anyone who doesn’t deserves what they get.” You stood up from your chair, placing a hand on his shoulder, “Thanks for the coffee, Tom.”
“Where are you headed?” He calls after you.
“On an adventure!” You call back, a new sense of confidence brewing within you.
Leaving now, is that the right thing?
I wonder,
But who the hell am I if I don’t even try?
I’m not a coward,
Oh no I’ll be strong.
One chance in a lifetime.
Yes, I will take it,
It can’t go wrong.
You board your flight, on your way to an island where all lost things gravitate, all of them just longing to be found. And that’s exactly what you planned on doing.

S U M M E R R E A D I N G L I S T
Summer is here! What are you all up to these days?
Are you lying on the beach, sipping some cool drink with a fancy name and enjoying the sun? Or sitting on a long monotonous flight to your holiday destination? Or perhaps you’re chilling in the park after work?
And is there something missing in all those scenarios?
Why, a good book, of course!
So here’s a list of some of our favourite books; ones that we love coming back to again and again and ones that we might’ve read only once so far but already know we’ll be rereading them in the future :) And since summer is a perfect time to read something new as well, you’ll also find some upcoming releases that we’re excited about here.
Happy reading!
UPCOMING, NEW AND NEWISH RELEASES
The Chase by Elle Kennedy (expected publication date : August 6th) - not only Fitzy was shook by Summer’s appearance in The Score, we were too! Now we cannot wait for their story and with our love of Off Campus series, our expectations for this book to end up being the hottest read of the summer are pretty damn high.
The Governess Game by Tessa Dare (expected publication date : August 28th) - the first book in Girl Meets Duke series, “The Duchess Deal”, was an absolute delight to read and we’re hoping this one will continue that happy hot streak.
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik (expected publication date : July 10th) - a good retelling by one of our favoruite authors sounds like a must-read and must-read it is.
Hot Asset by Lauren Layne (published : May 22nd) - the first book in Lauren Layne’s newest series, 21 Wall Street, has it all - steamy romance, great cast of characters, some crime and mystery and last but not least, hot brokers in suits.
Sea Witch by Sarah Henning (expected publication date : July 31st) - MERMAIDS. Enough said.
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (published : June 5th) - we fell in love with this book and we’re sure many of you will too! It’s funny, it’s warm, it’s sexy and Stella and Michael are definitely our faves this summer <3
I Think I Love You by Lauren Layne (expected publication date : July 10th) - the last book in Oxford series and we’re definitely curious about it. We love us some fake dating and friends to lovers trope xD
Pride by Ibi Zoboi (expected publication date : September 18th) - contemporary Pride and Prejudice retelling? WE. ARE. SO. IN.
Jock Row by Sara Ney (published : May 3rd) - in our minds, you can’t go wrong with some steamy sports romance for a summer read and this one is just so freaking cute!
Mirage by Somaiya Daud (expected publication date : August 28th) - YA fantasy with Moroccan-inspired setting and the summary sounds oh-so-intriguing. Is this the next series we will get obsessed with? Seems probable!
To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo (published : March 6th) - bloodthirsty mermaids? Check. Ruggedly handsome pirates? Check. Enemies to friends to lovers trope? CHECK, CHECK AND CHECK, GO READ THIS BOOK NOW.
The Naked Truth by Vi Keeland (expected publication date : July 23rd) - most of us on this blog have a “hit and miss” experience with Vi Keeland’s books but this one seems like a perfectly balanced hot meal of romance and angst, so we’re here, ready for it xD
FAVES WE LOVE COMING BACK TO
The Score by Elle Kennedy - again, you just can’t go wrong with sports romance for some summer reading and Allie and Dean will surely knock your socks off. WE LOVE THIS STORY!
Addicted series by Krista & Becca Ritchie - it won’t come as a surprise, surely, that this is one of our most beloved series. In fact, we’re planning on rereading it sometime in August! So...anyone else ready to go through ten books full of love, friendship, heartache, pain and utter bliss? Join us and fall in love with Lily, Rose, Daisy, Lo, Connor and Ryke just like we did!
Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne - one of our favs by Lauren Layne, it’s SO CUTE and FUNNY and will make you feel good!
Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman - at first sight, this is a story of summer romance set in Italy - which makes it perfect for summer reading list - but in reality, it’s. So. Much. More. And it might very well break your heart but it’s worth it.
Foolish Kingdoms series by Natalia Jaster - creators of this blog have declared themselves crazy for Natalia Jaster’s writing - and it all started with the first book in this series, “Trick”. Fantasy setting, poetic prose and entertaining layered characters - what more could one wish for?
All for the Game by Nora Sakavic - this series is by no means a “light” summer read but we still love it so much and can’t help rereading it again and again. The Foxes have claimed our hearts and refuse to let go, just as we do.
Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas - how can one pass summer without reading at least one steamy historical romance, right? And this one doesn’t disappoint! With a charming and refreshing heroine and a dashing hero who becomes her biggest fanboy in a matter of a few chapters, it’s a real treat :)
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon - young love at the summer program for aspiring web developers with romance and cuteness overload, are you in or are you in???
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover - friends-slash-neighbours with benefits arrangement meets Feelings. Rules are broken. Complications ensue. Read it *whispers SUBTLY*
Tell Me Three Things by Julia Buxbaum - perhaps a book set in high school doesn’t exactly scream “summer” but this is one of our favourite YA contemporaries. There’s just something about the way this book makes you feel...we just cannot recommend it enough!
From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata - sure, this is a sports romance revolving around figure skating which happens to involve lots of ice but rest assured, the chemistry between Jasmine and Ivan will leave you in need of ice for cooling down purposes.
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black - granted, we’ve read it only months ago, but this one has us absolutely obsessed. And you could be too, just dare to venture into the mysterious and deadly world of faeries - just remember to guard your mortal heart.
Everless by Sara Holland - YA fantasy with an usual concept of time as currency - it keeps you on the edge of chair as you read it. If anyone feels like reading some quality fantasy this summer, go for it!
Married by Morning Lisa Kleypas - favourite one from The Hathaways series! Catherine and Leo just own our hearts <3 This book will make you laugh and (maybe) cry and (surely) fan your heated face (because the hotness levels? Phew🔥
The Foxe and the Hound by R.S. Grey - this is such a make-you-feel-good book and the main character, Madeleine, couldn’t be more relatable. She’s in her mid/late-twenties and - plot twist - doesn’t have it all figured out yet. Luckily, not all hope is lost yet xD
Forbidden Hearts series you by Alisha Rai - it saddens us greatly how underappreciated Alisha Rai’s writing is. She writes compelling diverse characters and her smut is the ultimate proof that Consent Is Sexy. Join us in fangirling!

The Cruiser – Excerpt
By Rowan Rossler
His finely curved mouth breaks into a smile that is both seductive and imperious. A story or three those lips could tell, I’m sure. Something about his specific brand of refined, European hotness intimidates me, and imagining his carved body without the sweater on isn’t helping. I place my handbag on the table as a barrier of sorts. Never before has three feet of wood-slat table felt so necessary.
Any closer to him and I’m not sure what I might do.
Focus, Vandana.
Folding both hands in my lap, I ease in with something neutral. “I appreciate you finding time in your schedule to meet. We’re very intrigued with your work.”
He tilts his head, assessing me. “It’s quite all right to say you are intrigued. Since you’re the only one here.”
His blasé bluntness comes out of nowhere, and the electricity of it crackles on my skin. Blithe disregard for social niceties is so the opposite of ass-kissing LA.
“It’s a euphemism,” I clarify. “The collective ‘we’?”
“Yes, I hear it all the time,” he says, with an air of dismissiveness. “Odd, considering how independent Americans like to be.”
If there’s a slag in his observation, it’s buried deeply by that very charming accent. Chip on his shoulder? More like an old-growth Redwood.
“Well, I’m sure the French have a far more lyrical way of expressing business speak,” I counter.
He wordlessly studies me during a pause that seems to go on forever, and I realize that being countered is foreign territory. But I hold my ground, and his eyes are breathtaking as they fixate on mine. Dark caramel with flecks of gold. There’s a restlessness in them, a fire I imagine is eternally stoked.
I shift on the sofa and hope it looks nonchalant instead of uncertain.
It’s been a long time since I was this self-aware around a man.

Interview with Maree Brittenford
For the first month of the Writeblr Book Club, we are reading @mareebrittenford ‘s Echoes of Azure (Amazon Link). I interviewed her as part of our monthly activities. (PM me if you would like to join!)
And I want to start off on a high note, so, what is your favorite thing about your novel (or series)? I don't know, that's hard. The pretty covers?
Did you design the covers, or did you go through a designer? I just picked it out via a designer.
What do you love about your novel? I like the setting a lot. I think California gets typecast in media a lot as just being the beach and Hollywood, so I enjoy showing it in other ways. Although I did cheat a little to make it a bit sparser. I wanted to make it like the small towns of my childhood which were a little more remote, but still keep it in Cali. It's meant to be in those tiny towns near Sequoia.
What was the most challenging part to write? The ending, by far. I wrote it 3 times I think. And lol, I remember sending it to my critique partner at the time and he sent it back and all it said was 'she stayed in the car???' You will notice with the current ending she does not stay in the car. And there is no car, but yeah, I had to figure out how to end write the climax without taking away Amy's agency.
Are you satisfied with the ending you landed on? or does it still bug you? I'm very happy with it.
Tell me about your writing process. Are you pretty consistent, or do you have high word count days and low word count days? I'm fairly episodic. I will write 20-30k in a few weeks and then have a pause while I figure out what happens next. I think as I get more experienced I'm getting faster at the figuring out part, but from experience (NaNoWriMo I hate you) forcing myself forward when I don't feel quite happy with the direction the plot is taking is toxic for me.
Do you outline extensively, or construct a loose idea? No outlines at all. Ok, I did have an outline for Echoes, but everything in it turned out to be boring, so only the concept remains. Usually I just start with a ‘what if,’ or a scenario and go from there.
Do you consider yourself a "pantser?" I prefer 'discoverer'. Or ‘explorer.’
Explain? I almost always have pants on when writing. I just don't really like the divisiveness of the pantster/plotter binary
I am interested to hear you elaborate on ‘discoverer’. I think I got the term from Joanna Penn. She talks about discovering the plot, and that's how I feel. A lot of my pauses in writing are because a character did something that's OOC, or an event happened that isn't logical for the world, and my subconscious pokes me until I figure that out and correct it. It's as if I'm on an adventure.
Is that the main source of your "writer blocks"? Yeah, but I don't really consider them blocks. Or rather I guess I feel like a block is always my subconscious trying to tell me something is wrong in either my story or my life.
What are you working on right now? I'm currently doing the final pass on Overtones of Midnight, which is the 3rd book in the Guardian trilogy. I also have one and a half books written in a new series called The Extra Fakes, a sort of urban fantasy superheroes concept and I have someone bugging me about a deep space world that I've been playing with.
Do you tend to stay focused on one project at a time? Clearly not! I do and I don't. I will hyperfocus on a project for a time and then jump to something else and hyperfocus on that. More of my whole 'when I'm writing, I'm writing a lot.’ A sort of ADHD writer style.
What authors do you look up to? I greatly admire Kristine Kathryn Rusch, she's the whole deal. Not only was she one of my earliest sci-fi and fantasy influences (The Fey particularly) she gives back a lot to the writing community via her blog. And I recommend her writing book The Pursuit of Perfection to everyone. I have long admired Terry Pratchett (who doesn't?) for his fabulous world building and incredible satire.
Do you compare your book to other famous media? Like "X meets Y", or "a lighter take on _". I have been told you should have that sort of high concept pitch, but I can't figure out how. Suggestions, please! And don't say Stranger Things. Hmm, I am only a third of the way in, and still getting a feel for the plot, so I will have to get back to you on that once I finish. It does a feel of Final Destination, which you refer to in the plot.
Is there anything you want readers to know about the book? I don't know. Let me ask you if anything has surprised you, or been not what you assumed/expected, genre, concept or plot-wise? I am still early in the book, getting a feel for the characters. I love how much I relate to Amy, and yet how frustrating she is. I feel so much of her struggle as a shy bookworm, surrounded by people who are often derisive towards intelligence, to avoid attention. I'd probably make similar choices to her, and yet I still find myself getting frustrated when she pushes people away or closes herself off. I love how authentic she is. Incredibly consistent, which is a big kudos to you for writing her. But her choices are so frustrating at times. You know that's probably the most common feedback I've gotten. So maybe what I should say is that in the end, it's really a girl’s bildungsroman. With cool adventures and a little romance.

Fic Recs/Writers *updated 09/12/2019
THE LIBRARY IS OPEN DARLING....for some actual reading.
A list of fics/writers I’ve come across that got some of that pretty sweet stuff. And also because I’ve read around too much and can’t remember names or fics to save my life. THE UPDATES MAN!
Warning: Some fics (as will be indicated) are +18/rated M for Mature/take me to church kinda deal
@versigny
I’d say almost all of their stuff is worth a read (whoever your bias may be, they got stories on them), but my personal faves are their vampire au series, some +18 stuff there but majority of the stories are oneshots and drabbles
@honeyedhoseok (I think now @tawnytaehyung)
I’m sure everything they wrote is worth a read from what I’ve read thus far but because of that, I can really only recommend the three fics I actually read.
Series: Besitos (ta!Jimin) rated M for recent developments hoho~
Bruh why is this not reality? Why don’t we get really hot TAs to crush on? It would’ve made my school life hella easier and I’d get that perfect attendance. Jimin is your hottie creative writing TA who you can’t help but crush on (but can anyone blame you) and envious to all, he likes you back too. College au shenanigans, teacher/student dynamic, and dorky wingman ta!Taehyung friend.
Oneshot/drabbles (Crossroad demon!Jimin): Crossroads + Hunted + Captured Part One *NEW + Captured Part Two *NEW
I’d sell my soul to satan if he looks like bs&t!Jimin. You basically make a deal with crossroad demon!Jimin and can’t help but actually grow fond of the supposed devious, soul eating creature of hell.
Series: The Black Book (CEO!Hoseok) rated M
My heart can’t take the drama but it’s still a really good read. CEO!Hoseok may be young and rich but he definitely has some questionable methods of relieving stress, one that you’re all too aware of which makes things super awkward cuz you in love with the man. Does CEO!Hoseok eventually change thanks to you or do old habits die hard and just leave you in a world of hurt? Again if it’s Hoseok he can be the biggest jerkface and I’d still be charmed.
@dovechim
Shorts/Drabbles: the ocean (mermaid!Jimin) + drabble
Because goddammit mermaid!Jimin is cute okay??! (and I love me a good supernatural au of any sort) You’re a ballet dancer going to Busan Arts and stumble upon Jimin chillin’ in the water by the beach. You mistake him as fellow peer but hey he shows up to your class anyways (totally rocks the dance thing) but then as time passes, you find that something is quite...fishy about him.
Series: It’s okay, that’s love (splitpersonality!Jimin)
No not the drama. Okay so a shrink is still involved and that’s played by you and you’ve got water polo player!Jimin who has split personality disorder (he’s scary when he’s angry...) as your patient, except he doesn’t know about this ‘other self’ of his. As if feelings aren’t already making things complicated, imagine accidentally finding yourself rooming with him (along with your other favourite boys).
@hobibliophile
Okay so I might’ve read all of their Jimin stuff and yes. All yes (warning: they’re +18 stuff soooo)
The only other fic I’ve read from them is Ambrosia (M) starring Fallen Angel!Hoseok....I like supernatural au fics alright. Fallen angel or not, Hobi is still super sweet and since this is a series, we don’t know what the reason was and MAJOR CLIFFHANGER!
@jimlingss
Series: Beyond Reach (ghost!Hoseok) ft. Reaper!Namjoon and other ghosties
This shit made me nearly cry five times....FIVE TIMES. I say nearly because I don’t like crying so it took literally all my willpower to not (ended up with a runny nose though). ANGST AS SHIT. Has some triggering stuff involving death so be warned. It’s a good read though....BUT SAD AS HELL (at least it’s completed :’))
One Shot: Head Over Heels to Hell (reverse soulmate!AU, Childhood Friends to Enemies to Lovers! Hoseok x reader)
Oh yes, this was a WILD RIDE. Goddamn it’s like you hate the man but then in the end that shit got me emotional for some reason like djgskh good shit good shit (you have gone through multiple different lives meeting Hoseok, all of which he screws you over somehow but in the end of it all... perhaps things could still work out??)
Series: The Deli Diaries (produce! Jimin x Deli worker!you) fluff, slow-burn
Holy shit this is cute af. It’s so mundane (guess that’s a fair warning??) but just reading the way the relationship develops is just....ahh!!! I want my own cute Jimin who pines after my dumbass TAT
Series: Jungle Park (Workplace Romance AU, Lawyer! Hoseok x New HR Manager!Reader) fluff, slow-burn, slice of life, a little angst **NEW
A long series for those of you who love to read chapter fics! Oh my God this was a thrilling ride of emotions! The pacing is amazing, each chapter you’re hooked on wanting to see more development on the history between these two so it’s worth a read! I love how Hoseok is portrayed here; it’s like a piece of how he would be in real life is put into just another scenario (Also hate how reader is like... relatable in a way where I also majored in HR so...WHERE’S THE OFFICE ROMANCE LIFE TRAIN GONNA HIT ME WITH THAT??)
Three Shot: Magic & Mysteries (Familiar/Hybrid!Jimin x Witch! Reader) fluff, a little angsty, comedy, romance **NEW
A three shot series involving what the title says! Magic! It’s a little adventure tale of our reader who’s a witch struggling to find her place in terms of specialty and overcoming some fears and insecurities with the help of sassy (but secretly cares a lot) Jimin who’s a wizard cursed to be a dog (that looks like Chimmy!) It’s cute and pretty wholesome in my opinion :)
Also an honorable mention from them is the Service Series (it’s fluffier dw) and honestly their other fics are definitely worth a read :D
@7cypher
Oneshot: Devil’s Advocate (devil/demon!Jimin)
Ironic how despite being a devil Jimin is still the sweetest being to exist. Devil!Jimin walks into your life abruptly and worms his way into your heart with his devilishly good looks and sweet charms. It’s hella cute, a slightly angsty ‘defining’ moment that actually had me tearing up a bit??? (I’m a sap for sweet, tender affection like the ones that happened in here okay??) but it all ends well :)
@seokkbuns
I’ve read most of their Hoseok and Jimin stuff but I think all of their fics are worth a read!
@boymeetsweevil
Oneshot: Cover You In Constellations (Hoseok x reader fic)
I’ve read this a while ago but keep coming back to it because oh god this was cute, so domestic and so fluffy like this is the kinda shit I would pull if I had a boyfriend like Hoseok like skdjfskgha. I like the way writer portrays Hoseok because it feels so like what I imagine he would react. Hoseok deserves all the love ;_;
@kittentaegu
Series: My Boss, The Vampire (Vamp!Jimin x reader fic)
Two parts are out so far and I’m loving the premise! New office worker with notoriously hot CEO Park Jimin who has a secret to hide (guess what it is). One day, you find out what it is and so now what?? Things get steamy ;D Also, the title of it is so K-dramaesque and I don’t know! I like the charm it adds to it!
@readyplayerhobi **NEW
Honestly all of their fics are worth a read because they flawlessly combine story building with any kind of genre you can think of. Some are smutty, some of fluffy and some are just downright angsty but you just want to read them all regardless!
@yminie **NEW
Series: Nine-One-One (Detective!Jimin x First Responder! Reader) fluff, angst, romance, old flame au, future smut, and other mature themes!
This is thrilling! In both romantic and story aspects! The base story line is that there’s a serial murderer on the loose who’s been stalking reader and Jimin and his team are on the case about it. They’ve both got romantic history with each other and as old feelings resurfaces, so does the situation as things hit a little too close to home. Obviously with serial murderers involved, there is mentions of death, suicide and well...the warnings there!
A03 Fics
*will be pretty rare on this list; am I the only one who finds it super hard to find good fics on there?
Author: kimtrain
I swear they had a tumblr before since that’s the only reason why I remember them and their fics. Thankfully they’re all there still and all of them are 👌👌👌 Mermaid!Hoseok AU and the Hybrid!AU are my faves.
Fic: Warm Blood by ARMY_BRAT
The one instance where my weakness for supernatural AUs + wanting to read something paid off. MC is an ARMY but also a grim reaper so what happens when BTS shows up on her list, destined to die? Well, she says NOT TODAY but that just throws EVERYTHING out of the loop, leaving her to fix it.
Went into it with a grain of salt (ngl description was...ehh) BUT was pleasantly surprised! Digging the writing style which made MC really likeable so far and the AU strongly reminds me of Goblin: The Lonely God but focusing more on the grim reaper side of things which, personally, I was WAY more interested in even with the drama so yay! :D Glad someone took inspiration from it. Still ongoing and fairly new so dsfajdkas
Fic: Three Pints Full by Valkook **NEW
Woah it’s a vampire/supernatural fic! A little on the mature side because there’s well...blood...a little bit of death mentioned...and smut... BUT a really compelling story! Set mainly as a Cop/Detective! Reader who’s been assigned to solving some mysterious deaths/murders happening in the wild parts Montana joined in with appearances by Hunter/Tracker!Yoongi, Partner!Hoseok and Vampire!Jimin, Jungkook and more!
#fic recs#what i do instead of writing my own fics LOLL#now you know why i hardly update#dw i'll try to get back into it!#please feel free to recommend authors or share your fave stories as well :D#bts scenarios#bts drabbles#bts fics#ao3#ao3 bts fics#fic rec#bts fic rec
