⚡ Part 2 of 2 - UI/UX Mistakes Killing Good Design ———⁣ (This part is the same from part one 😁)Look, there needs to be a balance between Creativity and Usability, and as a designer, you should prioritize usability in all cases. ———⁣ The reason why all websites look the same is that they have to be usable, please must recognize them, they need to feel familiar, users should know where the menu is within a second and a hamburger menu can't be a Bookshelf, well at least for now. ———⁣ An interesting study that used eye-tracking equipment to determine how users were interacting with Flat Design and Realism, they found that users spent 22% more time on the flat page, we would all agree that flat design looks better, but was it worth it, sacrificing usability for too much creativity? ———⁣ ❓Let me know in the comments below? ———⁣ #design #ui #ux #usability #uitips #uxtips #designknowledge #designcommunity #designeducation #dailyinspiration #uitrends #uidesign #uxdesign #webdesigner #dribbble #behance #freelancer #freelance #freelancegraphicdesigner #freelancework https://www.instagram.com/p/B3R4xZFgfad/?igshid=16u8l2a2t7ofy

Contrast... The sensory comparison of light to dark. Separating the overall shape into tonal fragments. It is a proven fact, that bold, two tone contrast design, works best when trying to appeal to the human eye. Just because there are more colors/hues doesn't always mean its easier to define. #enginedesignstudios #designstartup#designforsustainableliving #contrast #coffeebean #kenyancoffee #designknowledge #uxdesign #uidesign #webdesign #uxstrategy#designstrategy #branding #branddesign #brandidentity

Week 3 sdl reading
Relating Social Contextual Knowledge to Graphic Designers' Practice.
This article was written by a professor from whitcliff design school, which is right around the corner from AUT. This always makes me more aware of the information, as I feel like it applies to my life more.
This reading initially portrays the idea that graphic designers use their positionality, either on purpose or not in their work- this can come through from their culture, beliefs, religion etc. Even when we think we are not being biased, we actually are. Graphic design is a conceptual activity that draws heavily on acquired designknowledge through practice. The role that designers place on knowledge of socialcontexts in their conceptual processes is highly variable and often unrecognised or undervalued by them in their practice.
This next reference here was my favourite and gives a great insight into the meaning behind this text
Bourdieu's framework, of structure, dispositionand practiceprovides a way of understanding how social knowledge may be built up (Bourdieu, 1972, p.72). In his framework, dispositions are derived from the knowledge arising from the individual's social structure and together form their habitus.
He talks about how important it is to understand pop culture and society. To understand people around us and immerse ourselves in new situations- this makes our work richer, as we have more references for the things that we do. This was a great reading. My favourite yet

Posted @withrepost • @uxbites So what exactly do UX Writers do? I'm further expanding on yesterday's post because UX Writing is a relatively new specialty and deserves to receive more attention. Fortunately more and more companies are searching for UX Writers as a separate role, as it becomes clear that a consistent tone of voice and guidance through microcopies is crucial for a good User Experience. . . . #uxwriting #microcopy #productdesign #contentdesign #contentstrategy #designtools #uxtips #designknowledge #designertips ⁣#designcommunity #userexperience #uxdesign #uxdesign⁣ #ux #design #webdesign #userinterface #appdesign #usability #uxdesigner #uxui #uxigers #uxuidesign #uxprocess #learnux #userexperience #productdesign #uxinspiration
