The Many Illustrators of A Tale of Two Cities 15: Charles Keeping

Keeping This One Brief

Our second in the spooky subseries is a set by Charles Keeping, a famed English illustrator, children's book author, and lithographer who, among his many other accomplishments, illustrated the entirety of Dickens's work for the Folio Society.

This set is unique among all those we've seen so far, both for its recentness (call its publication date a Bowling for Soup song the way it's "1985"🤪) and for its source:

Rather than being from a large public resource like the Internet Archive or from my own personal scans, these are all coming from the personal blog of Derrick J. Knight, a fellow netizen who just so happens to have scanned the illustrations of the book he was reading and uploaded them to the Internet for all to see.

Out of gratitude and respect for giving these precious rarities of illustrations to the public, I'm going to keep this post simple and straightforward, with no post-notes.

"Star Wars: Legacy of Vader" Comic Follows Kylo Ren Between Episodes VIII and IX

Marvel Comics has announced a new Star Wars ongoing series. Star Wars: Legacy of Vader, from author Charles Soule and artist Luke Ross, follows Kylo Ren's journey between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

Kylo Ren has taken over as the leader of the First Order after slaying Supreme Leader Snoke. However, Kylo's "murder of his father, defeat at the hands of Luke Skywalker, and a surprising connection with the mysterious Rey force him to reckon with what it truly means to be Vader’s heir.

As he pursues his dark mission to bring order to the galaxy, Kylo’s madness takes him down a deadly path to discover the truth about his grandfather’s life." (Marvel Comics)

Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #1 goes on sale on February 5, 2025. The debut issue sports a main cover by Derrick Chew and a variant cover by Annie Wu.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. —

A doctor who practiced at several locations, including Brigham and Women's Hospital, has been indicted for rape.

The Middlesex District Attorney's office said Dr. Derrick Todd was indicted on two counts of rape involving women who were his patients.

Authorities said this happened between between December 2022 and June 2023 during medical examinations at Charles River Medical Associates in Framingham where the alleged attacks occurred.

The Suffolk District Attorney's office said cases involving Todd have also been referred to them for investigation.

He was already facing several civil lawsuits, including class action suits.

At the time, his lawyer said those lawsuits were without merit.

Todd resigned from Brigham and Women's in 2023, as the hospital was moving to fire him after an internal investigation.

The hospital released a statement regarding the Todd's indictment on Thursday.

“We appreciate the attention the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement have given to this case,” the statement said.

“We first reported Dr. Todd to law enforcement during our investigation, following the receipt of two anonymous complaints, and we continued to work closely with them throughout their investigation. We also reached out to patients who were seen by Dr. Todd and offered extensive support for follow-up medical care, as well as assistance if they wanted to report their experience to law enforcement.

We take our duty to care for our patients and keep them safe extremely seriously. We are deeply distressed to learn of the depth and breadth of harm that Dr. Todd is accused of having caused. We will continue to provide support and respond to our patients’ needs during this challenging time. We recognize the incredible courage it has taken for all patients who have come forward to ensure that this conduct was exposed.”

He could be arraigned as early as Friday.

NewsCenter 5 reached out to his attorney, who declined to comment.
