In The Boys spin-off Gen V, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Asa Germann discuss their superpowers and jaw-dropping antics.
The first four episodes of the spinoff are now available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, with new episodes launching every Friday until the series finale on November 3.
Tumblr media
The first four episodes of The Boys spin-off drama, Gen V, premiered on Prime Video to fantastic reviews from critics, viewers, and fans of The Boys series, who are enthralled by Gen V's wicked badassery. The universe is expanded to Godolkin University, where the ensemble cast encounters dramatic events amid their supe-style power struggles and never-ending partying. With the race to join The Seven looming over their heads, the stakes are higher as the kids compete for popularity and excellent grades. Gen V has increased the blood, gore, and exhilarating action to match the intensity of its predecessor! The major performers have spoken up about their characters' diverse abilities and the training that went into them. "Sam is really, really strong," said actor Asa Germann, who plays the character. Basically, if a regular Supe punches someone and breaks their arm, when Sam punches someone, they explode. He can also jump very high and become quite agitated. The show has a lot of amazing scenes." Despite having a decent heart, Germann is troubled by hallucinations, which make it difficult for him to distinguish between what is and is not reality. "Stunt training is insane," he continues. I'm not athletic; in fact, I'm the most uncoordinated person on the earth. It's been quite difficult. We have a fantastic stunt team here that are training us. I've never worked on a project where you truly play as a badass superhero who needs to know how to screw up a number of people in a short amount of time!" Patrick Schwarzenegger also explains why his superpower figure is ranked first: "Golden Boy's power is that he can light on fire." He has flames, but he's also tremendously strong, and I believe he's stronger than almost everyone at the school, as evidenced by some of his combat talents. He's powerful. He sets himself on fire. He's simply capable of kicking everyone else's ass, which is why he's number one." Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi star in the series. Clancy Brown and Jason Ritter make appearances, as do Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and P.J. Byrne, who reprise their roles from The Boys. The first four episodes of the spinoff are now available exclusively on Prime Video, with new episodes launching every Friday until the series finale on November 3.

Les Miserables 1982: My Review
I'm going to keep this one shorter than my other reviews.
Tumblr media
I loved this film. Only a couple of things were left out and a few things were changed slightly. All the characters we know and love are there. The acting is superb. The film is big on slo-mo dramatic effects which also makes the scenes where this is used more emotional.
While Michel Bouquet did not look like Javert (He looked more like British actor Derek Jacobi to me lol) he played the part stunningly well. He was stoic, authoritarian, though in a couple of scenes he did look a bit sympathetic (his eyes) such as when he was dealing with Fantine as she begged not to go to prison and there was a slight alteration made in the scene where he is freed from the barricade as well. I don't want to spoil it but if you watch you'll know what I'm on about. Javert's suicide. What they did with this was a very nice touch I thought. No comical, malfunctioning mannequin drops and no short falls into a placid river seine (considering that canonically Javert jumped into the rapids at the Pont Au Change.
I really loved Lino Ventura as Valjean, there was something about him, but he had that old, adorable Valjean poker face. He was not violent in this film, unlike in the 1998 film. His death scene was a bit OTT but it did make it all the more sadder and showed his grief at losing Cosette to Marius.
Tumblr media
At the end there are a couple of changes (I think) I'm still reading The Brick and haven't got to the battles yet so I can't be sure. How come though, none of these films, ever end with Thenardier pissing off to America with Azelma (I read about that on reddit before anyone asks). Nor do any of them (certainly not the ones I've seen so far) show Madame T dying in prison.
Tumblr media
There was not a single actor in this film that I didn't like. They were all fantastic imo. The Thenardier's got a good amount of screentime and we saw the Patron Minette in this as well. Though i was a tad disappointed in Montparnasse's attire because he's supposed to be well dressed but looks a bit scruffy.
Tumblr media
One of my favourite things about this film is Gavroche, in almost every scene he's in he is singing a song and it's the same tune as 'Little People' from the musical but different lyrics. Once again his death was devastating and I'm not telling you anything more than that. From the adaptations I've watched so far, I don't recall any of them depicting the aftermath of Gavroche's death the way they did in this film.
The main thing that was missing was the attack on Rue Plummet part where the Patron Minette show up to rob Valjean's home and Eponine ruins their plans. Anything else that was missing I think I can forgive in this case because it's it didn't distract me too much. At least they weren't replaced with scenes where Cosette and Marius are held at knifepoint by an unhinged Javert.
Overall Les Mis 1982 is an excellent film and one I would definitely watch again. I really, really enjoyed it and I highly recommend it. It is a long film though, over 3 hours. But the 1925 version is still my No1 film adaptation of LM.

It’s time to explore the final Hammer Horror film of the 1970s, To the Devil… a Daughter (1976). [Note: The mystery comedy film The Lady Vanishes (1979) would drop and… vanish… in 1979.] To the Devil… a Daughter has the reputation of putting the final nail into Hammer’s filmmaking coffin. The quality and success of Hammer productions spiraled throughout the decade as the landscape of horror films changed – especially after The Exorcist (1973). Surprisingly, the film is much better than how the Grue Crew remembers it and how its reputation proceeds it. That is, up until its abrupt and head-scratching ending and that strange devil puppet. If you know, you know. Check out what the Grue Crew thinks of the film directed by Peter Sykes and featuring Christopher Lee, Richard Widmark, and Nastassja Kinski.
At the time of this writing, To the Devil… a Daughter is available to stream from Peacock and PlutoTV as well as various PPV from Amazon and Fandango At Home. To the Devil… a Daughter is also available on physical media as a Blu-ray from SCREAM Factory.
Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror 1970s is part of the Decades of Horror two-week rotation with The Classic Era and the 1980s.

Straight ship is Konrad x jade ( I forgot the name but I’m pretty sure it’s that )
Henry and carol
Charles and Ellie
Dr v and Henry
I weirdly feel like you Dave and Rupert should be shipped-
That’s all :DDDDDD so like it or idk
Lol, I usually do the popular ships, except Copperight since i barely did it and I didn’t see a ship into is as much in OtT qwq
But, here’s what I ship so far in Henry Stickmin: Opposing the Threat;
Henry Stickmin x Charles Calvin (Stickvin)
Ellie Rose x Fan (Ellian)
Rupert Price x Dave Panpa (Panprice)
Sven Svensson x Burt Curtis (Curtison)
Reginald Copperbottom x Denise DelRay (Copperay)
Joseph Jo x Jacob Rose (Jacoph)
Tin Tintin x The Witch (Tintitch)
Dr. Vinschpinsilstien x Gadget Gabe (Vingabe)
Derek Stickman x Faker Stickman (characters belongs to @sonicboom10go who helps with the story)
Tirreny x Friend (characters belongs to @ask-tirreny-and-friend who helps with the story)
Brandon Stickmin x Acacia Campbell Stickmin
And Liah Lugo deserves to be alone >:D
Tumblr media
seriously, she was literally made to be a terrible person in OtT, so she ain’t gonna end up with someone
But thanks for the suggestions, @violetakacharles, of course I can’t say no to Dave x Rupert! :D
I also see the only ship you support is Rosevin, which I’m fine with! It’s because barely little people ship it, all I know who ships it right now is you and Grace Bowling from YouTube. I would try and suggest other ships too just if you want more people interested in your blog, but it’s just a suggestion nothing I’m forcing on, your choice :D
Even though I’m straight, I do like these ships, but also try to get some straight ships in too qwq

And that's all you can add more ships below this if you want

Your post about the big bad arcs - as well as being dragged out too long and having the unsub be way overpowered, i think a lot of the later ones were missing stakes. For as bad as it was to go with 'fridge the wife for manpain' in the Foyet arc, characters that were important to the team/audience and that we were emotionally invested in died in both the Foyet and Doyle arcs. We actually got to see some damage done in a way that really came too close to home for the team.
But then every time after that? Nobody who isn't a sideplot separate to a big bad dies (Carolyn - now that was some truly unnecessary kill a woman for manpain, and Maeve - same again and not really related to the repilcator) and of them they are all people we only just meet. We see them for a couple episodes and then they die. That's all they're there for. But when it comes to the big overarching cases? We get a couple injuries maybe but they never kill off anyone of major significance and I don't know if it's just my rewatch brain talking, but you can kinda tell (a beautiful disaster - they revealed that savannah was stable way too soon to get really tense and morgan never felt like he was truly going to die - in derek we'd just seen him beat up like 6 guys while under the effects of torture. one little guy hurting him after that did not seem as likely)
To their credit (:/) they did try to up the stakes with strauss (a character you weren't as sympathetic for as they'd only just stopped trying to make her the bad guy and bc they picked rossi of all people to try and help humanise her w a relationship?? But also manpain fridging again :/) and at the backend of the mr scratch arc with stephen walker, but there they still went with the newest guy you were probably least attached to as opposed to a higher stakes option (I'd've quite liked them to have killed Rossi there tbh)
((Sorry if this was semi incoherent, I woke up saw the post wrote this and will now go back to sleep. Also tl;dr: as well as being dragged out and not formulated as well and ott, they didn't recapture the same stakes in later seasons as letting you think - even briefly - that Prentiss had died from being staked))
yeah unfortunately plot armor for most long-running network programs is pretty thick akjshdg. honestly id argue that the only reason we felt like there were stakes for the doyle arc (bc i mean come on were they really about to kill emily prentiss ajdshlg) was because of what happened in the foyet arc. that being said?? even then it felt very?? watered down? like they definitely couldve, shouldve done more with it. i still feel like it shouldve been a more brutal, drawn out death just considering foyet's mo. but they didnt bc she was still a prominent side character.
scratch nearly got there with walker. like if they wanted to kill him, fine, but did they have to do it the most boring way possible? how many times has hotch been in a car accident? how come literally everyone was pretty much perfectly fine and capable of walking the next day but ONE GUY got super fucked up? it felt cheap. like they were just trying to get rid of him. idk what the deal was with the actor, but idk it just felt really disrespectful to the character to not even have him be on a full season and have him be the first team member to die. especially since absolutely no one seemed to care that he died other than penelope and emily for like two minutes. a bau team member died. this should've been excruciating for them. but they just kept on like it was nothing bc :) spencer's back and thats all that matters. we call that #racism in media
i feel like reid's prison arc should've felt like it had stakes? like by all means it should have and i guess they did a pretty good job making it seem like this was tough for him. but it was such a shitty idea for a plot and we all knew nothing was really gonna happen, so there was no reason to really care. maybe if i was a #reidgirl i would've cared more but i literally didnt give a shit about him or that arc
even with stuff like injuries... people can get hurt as much as they want and its fine bc two episodes from now they'll be completely 100% okay and ablebodied. except that one time reid got shot in the leg bc the actor needed crutches for like ten episodes. like.. how many characters have gotten shot in the torso and been completely fine? elle... penelope.... jj..... emily got staked with like a big ass piece of wood.... morgan was fucking crucified and had acid poured over his chest or something..... oh yeah hotch was stabbed like seven times.... but its fine they're okay they can run around just fine after all that. i get its a tv show or whatever but it wouldve been nice to see some repercussions from injuries. we never even see hotch take the meds we know he has to take bc its how they caught foyet. we call that #ableism in media

Leave it to Grue-Believers to identify excellent films the Grue-Crew knows little or nothing about. Such is the case with The Stone Tape (1972), a BBC TV film written by Nigel Kneale, directed by Peter Sasdy, and shown on Christmas Day in 1972.
Kneale, as can be expected, weaves an excellent story, blending science fiction and supernatural elements that solidify a subgenre of ghost stories. The Stone Tape overcomes the expected shortcomings of videotaped production and 1972 special effects through story and performances. Michael Bryant, Jane Asher, Iain Cuthbertson, and Michael Bates ain’t no slouches. Thanks again to all those who recommended The Stone Tape. Your 70s Grue-Crew loves this movie!
At the time of this writing, The Stone Tape (1972) is available to stream from Shudder, AMC+, and PPV Amazon. The film is scheduled for a December 9, 2024 release as The Stone Tape (1972) (Limited Edition), a standard Blu-ray formatted disc from 101 Films.

What aesthetic do you think Sterek's Christmas decorations would be? Like the OTT designs celebrities have? Minimalistic? Classic red/green or cooler tones?
Okay so it's been a long time since I've celebrated Christmas (my family was never religious, only celebrated Christmas for a handful of years while in the US and us kids were tiny so we wouldn't feel left out) BUT there's a few things to think about here.
Like, Stiles would not miss out on the chance to put up those lighted reindeer or like a realistic one and go to Derek like "on a scale of 1 to 10 how yummy does that look to you? How strong is your urge to rip its throat out?"
He also wouldn't miss out on the chance to shower Derek with gifts and make him feel at home and warm and cozy and loved - which is what Christmas is all about right?
On the other hand, Stiles' mother was polish right so it's also very exciting to consider him being Jewish and Derek is a werewolf so like... Who knows what they celebrate traditionally, y'know? Like my ancestors from my little country never had a state or organized religion unless they were being conquered and controlled by some other power. From what we have left of the past, we can only tell that they had a faith that showed itself in a different way, that referred and focused more on nature and natural energies. And sind I love nature and I am obsessed with the supernatural and separating it from the human parts, I would go wild of some other winter-y traditions Derek could've had with his pack, and since in a way, my ancestors were called pagans for not believing in the God they were trying to be forced to believe in, maybe there are some things that are similar to paganism (for the record, I know nothing about paganism, but I heard that Christmas was moved to acclimate the pagan celebration dates?? So that makes it even MORE interesting) and like since Stiles is a spark... He totally embraces those other traditions, right? Maybe they make him stronger?
...this probably did not go in the direction you wanted, but see like, we could have sterek with magical Christmas lights that float, courtesy of Stiles, and ofc there would be no mistletoe bc poison~ but I also don't think they'd be cutting a tree down to drag into their living room, because how much more awesome would it be if they found a tree to decorate with magical light outside? Plus, I once spent New year's in the snowy mountains tops during a full moon and that was the closest my soul ever felt to fulfillment so could you imagine how a Werwolf would feel out in the snowy forests under the moon???? Add a little campfire with tea they freshly picked or idek and you have perfection
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
It's Derek's birthday the 25th, right? So it's not Christmas that matters most or the presents, because how does Derek even really feel about his birthday? Doesn't matter because Stiles will totally go to the ends of the world to somehow make it the most perfect day for Derek so that yes he can learn to love it and his own existence because he's a beautiful soul who deserves it
