Today's Case Study: Wei Jiu

This Demonic Cultivator is relatively harmless. He might actually be more of a Hazzard to himself than anything. On the Evil Scale of Evil Deeds, Wei Jiu is probably a solid 3. And I'm being quite generous here. I don't think this man successfully completed one evil task. AND to add insult to injury, he's a complete dumbass who has difficulty reading the room.

Wei Jiu's Villain Origin Story

The poor man just wants to join the Wester Sect but Mu Qing Ge went full on honesty on him probably because he claims to be handso.e and at this point in time, MQG only has eyes for Su Yi Shui.

But did she have to humiliate my poor Wei Jiu this badly? Practically wipes the floor with him.

So my poor boy went full speed on the Demonic route and never looked back.

But ... despite his best efforts ... Wei Jiu is pure of heart.

Empathy for the Enemy

This poor boy is trapped and his powers were being drained and he's getting weak and could posssibly die but what is Wei Jiu's main concern?

SYS: I told you a decade ago, I'd kill you.

WJ: Such evil technique! Have you spare no thought for your reputation?

Yeah... classic dumbass behavior.

Evil Deeds

In terms of evil deeds? Lol ... Wei Jiu is constantly surprised at the evil techniques, evil powers, and extreme sacrifices others choose to make. Like here he's baffled that SYS would go to such extreme using his blood to fight.

Then here, he's surprised that SYS would use the Soul Control Technique.

When the fake Mu Qing Ge used the devourer bugs, my poor boy here is surprised again to find that someone would sink so low with such despicable technique!

Like my poor boy could not comprehend! Like in the literal sense. His 2 brain cells could not compute.

Surprised again? You betcha! Like he's supposed to be the 'bad guy' but so far he's only ever been SYS' personal punching bag.

Hopeless in Love

In the love department, this dumbass has zero clue. My girlly got all dolled up for him and his reaction?

WJ: Your lips are red and your face is pale. Have you been poisoned?

Me: [banging head against the wall] WOW. What a dumbass!

Verdict: it's official ... there is no avoiding it. The evidence points to one conclusion and one conclusion alone ... my poor Wei Jiu is pure of heart and dumb of ass.

Ahhhhhh (screaming all the way to the netherworld!!!) So this is our ML. With a face this beautiful, he's obviously a 'good guy' right?

So ML here is fighting Wei Jiu, the 'bad guy' aka an individual perceived to be a threat to FL. Nothing unusual EXCEPT ... Su Yi Shui is kinda messed up in the head since he was raised to be a ruthless weapon by his even more messed up dear royal papa. He's literally treated like a fight dog growing up.

Soooooooo ... to say that Su Yi Shui is morally gray is being quite generous.

When a Demonic Cultivator is calling you out on using a particularly dark magic. Yeah. Maybe you should be just a tad bit concerned? Hmm?

OMG!!! That's Hawt! Su Yi Shui is like righteousness? Not me! We all love a self-aware king when we see one. Not only is he not ashamed to use dark magic, he's also like 'and what of it?' I know what I am and good is definitely not it. You thought I was an upright gentleman?

LOL .... WRONG!!!!!

EXHIBIT THREE

Su Yi Shui holds grudges and he WILL collect. While most ML will have some kind of reservations on killing the enemy. Not Su Yi Shui. No. This demon's child didn't come to play. No. No. No. He plans to win and if killing is part of the program .... yeah ... so be it.

Like he's really just walking around wearing sheep's clothing because his Master didn't like him being evil and so he's working hard on being 'normal' aka 'non-murderous' most of the time but deep down he's morally dark gray. Probably the darkest shade of gray you can think of and he knows it. Like Su Yi Shui knows that he's bad and he's comfortable with it. Being bad and powerful kept him alive and so he's not conflicted about it at all. (Squealllsss) can't wait to see more of his dark side.

Love of the Divine Tree 仙台有树 will start releasing February 7th! It’s directed by Director Yin Tao, and, unsurprisingly because of that, much of the cast is from The Blood of Youth!

More surprisingly, Zhou Munan, the author of the novels that The Blood of Youth and its prequels are based off of, reblogged the Love of the Divine Tree trailer despite him not appearing to be involved in the project itself. It seems he’s looking forward to seeing it, which is probably a good sign 😸
