Ravi Shastri Underlines Fault in the Strategy of Rohit Sharma-led India’s vs. South Africa
When bad light forced early stumps on Day 2 of the 1st Test, South Africa had already taken an 11-run lead with five wickets remaining courtesy of Den Elgar’s classy unbeaten 140.
On Wednesday, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team endured a tough second day in the first Test against South Africa in Centurion. When bad light forced early stumps, South Africa had already taken an 11-run lead with five wickets remaining courtesy of Den Elgar’s classy unbeaten 140. Before that, KL Rahul’s 101 had taken India to 245, which many experts felt was a decent enough total. The start of India’s bowling was not bad either, as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Aiden Markram cheaply.
But after that, Dean Elgar and Tony de Zorzi stitched together a great stand as South Africa went to lunch at 49/1. After lunch, Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur were given the charge. The two bowled eight overs between them before Jasprit Bumrah was brought on. By then, the score had reached 91/1, with Elgar completing his half-century too.
Former head coach of India, Ravi Shastri, did not like the idea of using Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur right after lunch.
Ravi Shatri, former Indian cricket team coach, said during commentary that, “On any pecking order, these two (Shardul and Prasidh) would have been the last to start the proceedings after lunch.”
He also added, “That’s something that we’ve had a discussion about multiple times when I was the coach. And more often than not, we decided to go with the best two bowlers at the start of the session. If you cast your mind back, India would feel they had missed a massive trick in the first half hour of play. Two bowlers they started with, that tactically was a big mistake.”

Hi, happy 28th! I decided to join the 28th appreciation, so here are all the fics I read and enjoyed in the past month! Fics are organised by word count :)
🌷Tell me it's the strongest shape by @louandhazaf (E, multi, 73k)
Nick and Elgar have it all. They’re famous, successful, and engaged to be married—and sometimes they play with others.
When uni student Louis gets street cast by Elgar for a GQ photoshoot, he's drawn into Nick and Elgar’s complicated relationship.
They've always invited mates into their bed. It doesn’t ever mean anything. Until… it does.
🌷A crown of heartache by WordsInBloom28 (E, 70k)
The Royal Tail: an alpha den, a strip club, a place where secrets are concealed and consent is medicated. It’s also the place Harry has been trapped for the last three years.
Through luck or fate, Harry finds his way to Louis, a kind alpha who offers safety and comfort. After being freed from the confines of the den, Harry struggles to shake the darkness from his past.
He has a choice to make. Live in a mental prison of his own making or find the strength within himself to face his demons head on with Louis at his side.
🌷In the still of the night by @jacaranda-bloom (E, 68k)
In a society where omegas are expected to follow a predetermined path, Louis strives for more; for his voice to be heard, for recognition, for true love.
In a world where your past defines your future, Harry fights against the system; for equality, for a different life, for acceptance.
When their two worlds collide, will they be beaten down by conformity or will they rise up and forge a new path together?
OR the Dirty Dancing AU where Louis is a feisty omega who wants to change the world, Harry is an alpha from the wrong side of the tracks, and nobody puts Louis in a corner.
🌷Chasing, searching, dreaming by @parmahamlarrie (E, 46k)
Everyone is chasing, searching, dreaming of their soulmate.
Harry has known who his soulmate is since he was twenty years old, and ever since, he has been waiting for Louis to be ready for him. The unexpected passing of Louis' mum, and the fact that now he is the guardian of his twin two-year-old little siblings, just means that Harry is going to have to wait a bit longer.
A soulmate AU full of cute kids, house building, therapy, and a lot of dreaming.
🌷Four, five, finished? by @beanno28 & @lalalaartje (E, multi, 45k)
Now that they've all settled down in their relationship dynamic, Zayn, Harry and Louis agree it's time for the next step. A new phase in their lives, so to speak. They're having a baby! Or well. That's the plan. As usual for the three of them, nothing goes as planned.
Adjustments have to be made, emotions have to be lived through and discussed and all in all, our three boys need to buckle up for the ride and hope to reach their final destination without major figurative car crashes.
🌷A hopeless connection by @parmahamlarrie (E, 34k)
In a world where everyone has a soulmate, what do you do when you don’t have one?
As soon as Louis Tomlinson was born, his Timer, the one that determined when he would meet his soulmate, was already at zero. He’s spent the last twenty-five years of his life looking for that void to be filled with faceless strangers. Can he still find love?
🌷Santa baby honey by @sadaveniren (E, 29k)
“Let’s cut right to the chase,” Niall said, loading the powerpoint, which was just one page, comprised of Louis’ face and the words How do you solve a problem like this asshole? “It’s the beginning of November and Louis is already being a fuckwit. How are we gonna have him knock that shit off this year?”
aka Louis is the CEO of a toy company and Christmas is a stressful time of year so his assistant decides the best way to make him chill out is by getting him laid through a Secret Santa
🌷Thespian sweetheart by orchidsinnewyork (16k)
Harry definitely was not. He’d stopped listening.
Across the room, someone had caught his eye.
The stranger’s light brown hair fell into wisps, framing his mask. His cheekbones could be seen even with half his face covered, and his slender fingers were brushing along the buttons of his coat. He was smiling even though he had no one in company. He seemed to glow as he stood under a chandelier, the fragments of glass reflecting bursts of light onto his frame.
Harry had never seen someone like that before. He’d been staring for too long, completely ignoring Count Paris as his gaze focused on the stranger. And he hadn’t realised it until the stranger turned his head, and their eyes met.
Harry saw his lips part, and curled into a small smile as he removed his mask. Staring back at Harry were a pair of brilliant blue eyes, twinkling at him like twin stars. The stranger winked at him, and his head felt giddy.
~
Uni AU where Harry participates in a Theatre production, and is supposed to perform a stage kiss that winds up becoming quite real. Featuring awkward encounters, insane dreams, OT5 and peanut butter.
🌷I'll look after you by @elmeiko88 (M, 15k)
I mean, when Harry inherited his late uncle's hybrid, he didn't necessarily expect this...
Where Louis is a nice hybrid cat who's never lived with anyone but an old man, and who discovers the freedom of living with Harry...
🌷I dig your cinema by @silverstuff50 (E, 13k)
It wasn’t that Louis didn’t want to see Harry’s latest film; it was a tragically pathetic fact that Louis had watched every single show and film, every interview, every red carpet that Harry had done since his ex-boyfriend had decided to leave Uni in the second year and pursue an acting career.
It's just that he wanted to watch it on his own, in his flat, with a soft blanket, beer, ice cream, and a large box of tissues.
🌷licking sugar off taboos, we pour wild honey and wine over the walls by @larentslovebot (E, 10k)
Louis Tomlinson is a big name in the industry. A lyrical mastermind, who does not appear in public and dedicates his existence to music. Deciding to find aspiring musicians for his label, he expected to tutor young talents and make them the next heads of show business. What he didn't expect was to meet Harry Styles, omega with attitude and a captivating scent.
🌷Woke up feeling knotty by @jaerie (E, 8k)
Beta Louis has a kink for knotting and the secret aesthetic porn blog he runs about it is more than proof. When he accidentally finds out his alpha best friend Harry is one of his biggest fans, he knows he has to come clean after everything that has already happened between them. Harry just might be willing to help him out anyway.
🌷I'll keep you warm by @parmahamlarrie (T, 6k)
Louis is the kind of guy who keeps his head down and minds his own business. He’s lived on the same street for years and barely would recognize the buildings, let alone his neighbours. That’s all about to change however, due to a broken key and an unexpected snow storm.
🌷Pretty and preposterous by @brightlyharry (5k)
Harry donates a copy of Pride and Prejudice to his little free library. He never expects what comes next.
🌷What the silence said by @larrysballetslippers (E, 3k)
“Our lives were just beginning, our favourite moment was right now, our favourite songs were unwritten. ‘Love is a mixtape’, Rob Sheffield.”
Or, Louis has tried to ask Harry, the quiet and cute librarian at his local library, out for some time. He never expected that quoting Harry's favourite books work so well for him. A very silent Valentine's day fic.

so. silm keeper people. i've been attempting to transliterate-ish some of the elves' names into sindarin or quenya to see if it works. and surprisingly, it does!
(names found from the wiki)
oralie - soft permutation to oralië for 'ora' to urge and 'ië' people, as in 'to urge the people' (quenya)
fintan - 'fin' hair and 'tan' maker, smith (sindarin)
bronte - soft permutation to brontê for 'brond' steadfast and 'tê' way (sindarin)
fallon - the 'fall' part could come from ancient elvish 'phal' meaning foam or splash, and '-on' is a common sindarin masculine ending (primitive elvish and sindarin combo)
kenric - 'kén' earth and 'ric-' to endeavor (quenya)
elgar - 'el' star and 'gar' a lenited version of 'car-' meaning to make (quenya)
kesler - 'kes' other and 'ler' free (primitive elvish)
ardal - 'ar' besides and 'dal' foot (sindarin)
alden - 'al-' well, happily and 'den' a lenited form of pen, meaning one as in a person (sindarin)
alvar - 'al' well, happily and 'bar' house, home (words that start with b are often lenited to start with v) (sindarin)
livvy - doesn't gloss but i thought it was interesting that quenya for sickness is 'lívë' and livvy is a doctor. does this mean anything? probably not.
calla - she's not an elf but 'cala' is the quenya word for light. so.
maruca - 'mar' earth and 'ú' not and 'ca' behind. does not make sense and barely passes, but it is very possible that the language has mutated far enough. (quenya)
marella - 'mar' earth and 'el' star and 'not'. also does not make sense. but hey. it's also very possible the language has mutated. (quenya)
radelle - said to be where della's name comes from. 'râd' path and 'el' star. given that the last e isn't pronounced, it's very likely that the '-le' at the end is a mutation. (sindarin)
adara - 'ad' and and 'ara' king (sindarin AND quenya)
elwin - this one is fun. 'el' is obviously star but the 'win' could be anything. it could be a lenited form of 'gwain' meaning young, or a lenited form of 'wing' meaning sea spray. i'm going to go with the second because that means elwin and elwing share a name, which is hilarious to me for some reason. (sindarin)
quinlin - 'quín' crest, ridge and 'lin' musical sound (quenya)
gethen - 'ge' if, maybe and 'thenn' short. doesn't make sense but is hilarious. (sindarin)
inar - 'i' the and 'nâr' rat. i think it's funny (sindarin)
tiergan - 'tir' to watch over and 'gan' increase, enlarge. barely makes sense (sindarin)
andrin - i can't exactly translate this word for word but as a name it's 'he who uses a hammer'
dexter, bexter, lexter, rexter - 'ter' is a quenya word for through, but other variations don't really work.
alvin - 'al-' well, happily and 'vin' could be the same element as in elwin - perhaps the quenya mutation of the w becoming the v carries over a little to sindarin??? (sindarin)
mai - 'mai' well (quenya)
noland - 'nôl' mutation of dol and 'and' long (sindarin)
terik - 'ter' so and 'ric-' to endeavour (same root as kenric's name) (quenya)
liora - 'li-' many and 'ora-' to urge (quenya)
anwen - 'ann' gift and 'wen' maiden
galvin - 'gâl' and same 'vin' as alvin (lenited 'wing' sea foam or 'gwain' youth)
harlin - 'har-' left hand and 'lîn' pool (body of water) (sindarin)

Drowcember part 3
ok so these are
ok so here's prompt & , flora, fauna, and fungi. so here's me testing out some of the ideas for plants and fungi along with drawings of the three animals that represent the three different cities. here's what some of the
Prompt , flora and fauna- lots of flora and fauna can be found in the caves of the underground, all of the plants and mushrooms I showed here are edible and often used and eaten in the in the cities of the underworld. - Sivin Bloom; grows near the surface, it blooms white to golden and then will grow a sweet golden berry - Rensustall antenna mushroom - Broad leaf mushroom - stick twal - Underworld orchid - inkling lantern mushroom - ink drop glowshroom -stoopospors -lusmoss -Pomber -dinsm berries -drip leaves - top duster Fauna wise I drew the three animals that are the symbols of the different cites: the symbol of orai’ral, the dual Millapede symbol of Elgar, the cavern bats symbol of black chowl, the black cowled spider.
Prompt 7, lgbtq+ here we have a bit of a messy picture it shows two lgbtq cuples. the first (on the left) is a historical couple, one of the two brothers that established the dark fauth as what they are today, Calvive and his husband who is actually the founder of the black scorpion den, and is a Robin Hood like legendary figure in his own right. they are both legendary figures on their own, but their love story is a tale involving pirates, kidnapping, a darling rescue from a tower and a bunch of shenanigans. the other less exiting love story is That of lillygaurd the mayor of cavern bat city and her laquiam girlfriend. they just are a lovely and quiet couple with no intense story around them, but that's the way these two lesbians like it. - other things also in that photograph are a drawing of the lush caves.. still thinking about copying a bit of Minecraft's homework... and part of a sideways map of the continent of O’sten. the part of the map that has no labels on it what so ever is the one where most of these cave systems that make up the under world is located.
Prompt , some one else’s drow, so originally I was not intending on doing this prompt, mostly because the dark fauth are only baised on drow and are not drow in and of themselves in the dnd sense of the word, most of them are not even elves. But at some point or another that changed because I made some loose scetches of what other cities are like from some of the other designs floating around on the drowcember tag. So pictures 3&4 from left to right, here’s credit to who gave the inspiration for the design:
1. Dragon fish city, inspired by the elegant and flowing artwork of @j--mno-art. The moon crescent coat on thier oc xaston is so fun. As for the what I decided on for the people of the dragon fish city
- weird genetics as they accept anyone that needs a place.
- fashion tastes are the closest aligned with that of the taste of the surface world of that region.
- often wear familial tattoos or make up.
- lots and lots of pirates
- worship of the moons are commonplace
-live in a grotto by the sea so have easy access to the ocean and surface
2. The blood spot millipede, inspired by the rigged and delicate design of @linaswalaf their art is so technically excellent and the red and grey color schemes prevent in a lot of the drowcember art was so pleasant. I just adored the overall aesthetic that thier drow art had. As for the bloodspot millipedes, the city is called Teri
- fuzzy ears are common as there is a good deal of troll blood in their ancestry.
- are cavern dwellers and do not venture near the surface unless nessesary
- known to be excellent scholars and jewelers as they mine a lot of precious materials
- despite not going up to the surface often they have extensive trade with the surface world.
- well infamous as relentless and absolutely brutal warriors
- weavers of kelper cloth.
3. The black scorpions, inspired by the drow of @eaglewind13 the colorful drawings of hers was a delight to see. But this design was most heavily inspired from the family day prompt, so the information
- simple genetics, an interesting thing about the city of the black scorpion is that most of its citizens are not permanent residents. Instead a lot of the people of the city will travel around the surface world and then hide out in the city come winter or due to other circumstances
- grey extremities, because of the rather migratory nature of a lot of the cities citizens the magic radiation that has changed the appearance of the people of the other cities has not been able to as effective in the people of black scorpion, though people who’s family has been in and out of the city for generations tend to have grey fingers, toes, hands, legs, or freckles and thier hair tends to be pale or purple in color.
- they interact a lot with the surface world and the underworld
- den of thieves, the city is full of thieves and robbers who use it as their hide out from the law of the surface, the “other circumstances” mentioned earlier. The city can be a bit chaotic.
-they make some strong booze.
- large cape like coats are common so that no one is aware of what you are carrying. Along with spikes on shoes to help access and climb walls of the cave. Also honor among thieves and all that, there’s unofficial rules a person needs to follow in order to get to stay in the city as a hide out.
4. The violet visage spider, this one is inspired most hevely on the normal dnd idea of the drow. All the good all the bad. It’s that one city that the other cities tell you to avoid if you are traveling the underworld. (The inspiration for the design in this one is the same as the ghost spider so I’ll get to that later)
- eugenics, awful, but let’s go with it. So for this city they are very particular on what kind of people are welcome to live here, and much more selective on who can have a family. Raquesasha, vickor, the few eyes of the region, the allets, troll blooded and so on and so forth are not allowed, and if they are they live in very specific areas of the city and surrounding villages (they got dibs on the largest cave in the know underworld)
-dark/grey skin. They have a few very set looks.
-spider worship, so I’m thinking that backstory wise the reason that these people are down here is because they were a really big cult that had some views that didn’t mesh well with the popular religion and opinion of the surface world and the violet visage moved to the underworld as a result
-matriarchy. And a really controlling and violent one. So what I’m thinking is that there is a bunch of family house and that they are in constant competition with each other and such to rule over the largest swafts of city territory. Basic but workable.
- sexist hiarchy, why not let’s throw all the bad tropes in here, slavery why not, badly treated harems, shure. I can play it straight but I might try to do something different with them even so. But for now the violet visage spiders are the closest dark fauth to Dnd drow. At least those imaged in the 80s-2010s
5. Ghost spider city, the city is called elisk and is actually the oldest parts of the idea regarding the dark fauth, a group of people who lived in the caves of the continent of O’sten and have a relation ship with large spiders called ghost spiders, at some point someone commented on how they where like dnd drow and I decided to embrace the idea. Now I also stumbled upon the ideas of @fantasy-anatomy-analyst and her (?) blog by a comparison of her(?) drow to the drow of mainline dnd. And I have to say the monkey like drow are so neat and cool. Unfortunately the picture I drew for the inspiration I was taking is too close to the reference image for my liking. So apologies about that, I’m trying to make them more distinct so it’s less of a copy than it is inspiration.
-oldest of the underworld tribes, they and the silver centipedes are the decedents of the people who lived in the underworld before the two brothers claimed it as a place of the forgotten and forsaken.
-have the most adaptations to the caves as they have live here the longest, including motion sensitive whiskers/eyebrows and a keen sense of hearing, also their hair can glow slightly in the dark. Slightly short on average.
- cultivate spider silk, and some of it glows (because that is so cool)
- respectful to elders, matriarchal mothers, lots of sibling rivalry, some different gender roles and identities than those of the surface world.
- wear clan markings, either painted on or as tattoos.
Prompt 19, exploration, some bat cavern people exploring some tunnels Prompt 27 nobility. here's the different current leaders of the cities lillygaurd is the youthful leader of the cavern bats. youthful and youthful she's in her mid 30s, got a girlfriend and a city to be concerned about. she was a well known zordezoth in her youth, (zordezoths are robin hood or Zorro like figure, they are called Zozoths for short.) she was elected into her position ilnor, the hereditary leader of the black chowl caverns, she was chosen from a group of cannidents by the elder council, she is in her late middle age, also shown here is her daughter Rät, more on her later. Seven, the three armed king of the Duel millipede, he was born with three arms and lost his eye in the duke to become king. Prompt 22, half drow, this was also originally not a prompt I was planing to do as I simply did not know how to do that with the fauth as they are all technically humans sort of, and vickor are also considered fauth. the raquesasha on the other hand are not, they may live among the dark fauth, but they are jevels according to O’sten and O’ller (they are heaven kin in the kin system) but then I drew Rät, she is half dark fauth and half Raquesasha. the daughter of ilnor, and the raquesasha horek. she has a few of the abilities of raquesasha with the ability of teleportation and surounding manipulation with a plum colored core. only half of her mouth is sealed when closed. she is rather asymmetrical, but lacks the excess limbs of most raquesasha. though many raquesasha on the O’sten do not have these extra limbs. Prompt 15+16 villains and heros. the legend of the lek brothers. two sons of a witch, they lived centuries ago as slaves to the people of the cricket lands. They stayed together, through thick and thin. They eventually grew into a pair of rebellious trouble makers who stole a power and dangerous magical artifact called the fifth moon. They used their cunning and hard work they freed hundreds or thousands of slaves and moved them into the safety and freedom of the underworld. Then more impressively they stayed free against the might of the sun king. It’s much more of a legend these many years later than it is entirely historical events.

Seven Spires veröffentlichen neue Single und Video
SEVEN SPIRES veröffentlichen „The Old Hurt of Being Left Behind“, die dritte Single aus ihrem kommenden Studioalbum „A Fortress Called Home“, das am 21.

Johannes Brahms (* 7. Mai 1833 in Hamburg; † 3. Read the full article

GERASCHEL IM BAMBUSBUSCH ZU EDWARD ELGAR, ENIGMA VARIATIONS, OP. 36, 9. NIMROD (ADAGIO)

Since you responded to my post about secret messages and symbolism in music, I must ask: what are some you've hidden that you'd be willing to reveal? 👀
Hehe, thanks for the question!
I dunno if I put anything particularly deep in things but…
So a lot of the time it’s text references, either in the title, words on the score or musical quotation/reference. Which will just be kinda references to what I was thinking about when writing the piece, which only benefits the listener insofar as maybe marginally increasing their interest/enjoyment of the experience…. but also I think of it very much like, if it were me… I enjoy making them semi-hidden/discoverable secrets because I'd really like the feeling of "OOH i looked that up/guessed that/got that reference".
The main thing I was thinking of with that being a MOOD was a piece I wrote for piano and soprano sax called "The Fox, on a Winter's Night". It was in three sections of different moods and like… broadly about the fox figure in european folk tradition/literature, how it can trickster, kinda gentleman thief figure, also wise, also really primary for me is the Fox in The Little Prince …Through the score I wrote three quotes at the starts of sections: "many a mile to go" / "invisible to the eye" / "Said the fox, that is very pretty music, still - I'd rather be in my den-O!"
Aaaand I got to a rehearsal with the musicians and they were like "what's with the bits of text on the score", which I mean, nice they noticed but it was so flummoxing for me like….. would you not just throw them into google???
[Where you'd find the last one leads you to the folk song, from where the first is also a shorter quote, and the second one is in full: "One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye." And maybe read the rest of the song/the story, for something to think about during those sections. (...Yeah it is weird spelling this out!)]
-
And definitely there's a lot either titles or musical references in the pianowrimo ones, though I tend to explain those a little more on my posts! A bunch of the titles are quotes or titles of poems, which reading might give a bit of context or mood maybe; some of which -- I literally 'set' the lines to shape the music; you could sing along the full verses if you wanted.
I dunno though: I then just go and throw weird sounding titles like "sleepy cloud dragon" in and that's just … a reference to a cloud I saw. "blue garden" means the garden in the picture on my wall, so… :D
often if there's a musical ref or homage I point it up in the title, like to Pärt (a few times). I wrote a piece called "reflections" which is basically and obviously heavily influenced by "spiegel im spiegel"/mirror in the mirror. (Pianowrimo being a good time to do these really definite homages/pastiches; they're not strikingly Original but they don't have to be! Eh actually… idk, I'm referential a Lot, not just in november.) "in the night" — the title and the musical language is a little bit of a reference to "Sthtil di nakht" which I'd just been introduced to. "green morning" — had some (very basic) inspiration from Chinese traditional/pop, bit of a shout out to "Green island serenade"… "deparature", same. "11" that I wrote for 11th Nov had I think a bit of Elgar that they play at our Remembrance day services aaand the English and Polish national anthems..
-
For the choir pieces in my PhD portfolio, I often did text collages from different poems. The final text is supposed to say what it says, but hm people think about it to different degrees... If a listener happened to know their names or looked them up, they might find some links between the three poets Amy Lowell, Katherine Phillips and Katharine Lee Bates who I chose to set together in one piece... I dunno, I know we don’t have to be hidden and coded now but I hope someone hears or reads that piece text and is like “...is this kinda lesbian tho...? oH. yes it is.”
-
there we are, some of my secrets :D
…How 'bout you?

ähm ... nicht ganz herausragend spielenden Cellistin:Madam, you have between your legs an instrument capable of giving pleasure to thousands — and all you can do is scratch it!Und zu einem jungen Kollegen, der wissen wollte worauf es beim Dirigieren eines Orchesters am meisten ankäme: There are two golden rules for an orchestra: start together and finish together.
