This is a demon slayer rant, there are spoilers here so if you haven't read the manga or watched the past two seasons then you should just keep scrolling or stay at your own risk.

This thought has been wirling around in my head for so long and I haven't seen anyone mention it before so here it goes.

So, we know Tanjiro's mom knew where the spider lily grows and Nezuko is the very first demon able to conquer the sun in centuries, well this is my silly theory.

What if Kie unknowingly used the spider lily to make infusions and drink it with her family and that's why Nezuko was able to conquer the sun.

Now, this may or may not make sense to you but oh well, wasn't Tanjiro able to stand in the sun too when he turned into a demon?

So what if Mitsuri joined the Demon Slayer Corps to find love?

So did Zenitsu. Nezuko is all he can talk and think about. His first scene is him literally begging a girl to marry him.

Tengen constantly talks about his wives and his love for them. A love so great that it is the main driving force behind ALL of his major life decisions. He left his toxic family because of them, he joined the Corps because of them, he decided to retire and left the Corps because of them. He has stated how they're his main reason for living, and how he considers their wellbeing and importance above his.

Tamayo is Yushiro's entire world, so much so that he's content being absolutely devoted to this woman and her goals, even though he knows that she's still in love with her husband. He's just content with being by her side and supporting her in everything, even if it goes against his best interests.

Obanai literally teleported 3 feet because he got a letter from Mitsuri and proceeds to read it with the ferocity of a lovesick teen who just got a text back. He's shown to be utterly in love with her and cares about her wellbeing and comfort.

The main cause of Giyuu's depression is because Sabito, his first love, died! And one of the things that brings him out of it is the thought of making and giving Sanemi, his new crush, his favorite food.

Yorichii, the strongest character in KnY, just wanted to have a family with the love of his life, Uta. His very first proper introduction has him holding a baby, FOR SUCKS SAKE!! We don't even see his expression because the yearning was that deep! When a character in KnY is framed from the back, you know the emotion is strong.

Genya is always flustered and horny when he's in the same airspace as or even thinks about a girl.

Hakuji not only took care of Koyuki but loved her so much that it permeates through his BDA as Akaza even though his memory was wiped. His soul remembers and honors her even if his mind doesn't.

The main reason Gyutaro hated Uzui was because he's a chad and was getting hoes.

Shinjuro Rengoku had a decade-long crashout because Rika died.

But yea no, let's shit on this ONE female character for the crime of wanting love and a family. Just say you hate women and go.

hi friends! big rant incoming— i want to clarify this isnt targeted at anyone, im just noticing a pattern and im getting a little upset with some of the requests im being sent ):

something that really bothers me is the babyfication of giyuu tomioka. the fandom infantilizes the dude way too much. and its even worse when you throw shinobu into the mix and have her being a maternal figure to him when she herself is an eighteen year old who has worked as a hashira since she was a teenager. she does not need to be put into these situations where she’s taking care of her older peers all the time

i see this happen a lot and i feel its rooted in misogyny whether people recognize it or not. almost always the male characters are thrown into positions where the female character has to take care of them and its really frustrating

shinobu isnt a maternal character at all. to inosuke and the younger ones, it’s different, but if i keep seeing her being a mom to giyuu im actually going to lose my mind. giyuu isnt some uwu depressed baby who cant stand up for himself. he is just as mean as sanemi and obanai. he trained to survive and operate in horrible situations and fight for his life for years. hes a grown man and a hashira. he would not be babied by anyone, especially not someone who he has known since she was around fourteen years old

you may say “well ghostbite dont you do this with mitsuri and obanai”… sure. perhaps i am a hypocrite. but you must remember mitsuri is just sort of like that. she loves cute things and she loves fawning over everyone and everything. her scenes with nezuko. her introduction scene in the hashira meeting with her gushing over everyone. she hand feeds tanjiro pancakes in the recent season. she refers to people as “cutie.” etc etc etc

the difference with obanai and giyuu is obanai is often characterized as a yandere simp who is a huge bully to giyuu and tanjiro. he’s not. i like to put him in deaging situations a lot because unlike everyone else, he’s been through hell since birth. he’s never, not once, had a moment of peace. he had no siblings growing up to protect him— he had no loving parents, etc. he never felt love and he believes he is undeserving of it and should never reciprocate it. so here comes mitsuri, the epitome of love. he takes care of her. he watches after her. he is devoted to her. if something happens to him, especially if it’s a situation where he’s much smaller and weaker and in need of care, mitsuri would drop everything to help him. if it were mitsuri, obanai would do the same for her. it’s in both of their characters to do this. them being in these situations makes sense

i love shinobu. she would not. she does what a doctor does, looks for a cure, checks in here and there, and leaves it at that. she is not giyuu’s “mama.” she is an eighteen year old girl who has her own bucketload of issues. if you need her in a maternal role then use inosuke or literally any of the butterfly girls— the kids she actually takes in and takes care of. not her 21 year old coworker who is more than capable

if anything i think shinobu should be put in deaging situations. have giyuu take care of her instead. mix it up a little. but people are so attached to the idea of having every single caregiver role go to the woman that it’s unlikely we’ll see that

this is not a criticism on giyuu. i love giyuu. but i need people to stop treating him like a defenseless baby, and for people to quit seeing shinobu as responsible for him as a caregiver or a mother

tdlr: please stop asking me to draw or write deaged giyuu stuff. someone else can do that. i dont like deaged giyuu. tiny 21 trio is essentially on hold because of this ): i keep getting nonstop requests for deaged giyuu and im so tired, especially because people are framing it in a “you should replace obanai with giyuu” lens, or adding “mama shinobu doing x with baby giyuu”

it’s tiresome and frustrating. i love to make content for you guys, and i love when its something that appeals to you in a comforting way, but if you want specific content with giyuu— you’re very much in the wrong place. i hate the fandomification of him and shinobu— it makes me uncomfy and sad.

other people are deaging giyuu and putting him in situations— go ask them instead of me. i would rather highlight misunderstood and underrated characters like obanai and gyomei or my own personal faves (muichiro) then constantly loop the same exact character over and over again

all this to say im doubling down on the babybu and babynai and pintsized pillars aus. if you keep asking for baby giyuu and maternal figure shinobu my spite makes me stronger. hashtag let shinobu be taken care of for once. she’s already the doctor for an entire organization give my girl a break

But seriously if you are writing a fic and give the s/o character a name, it defeats the purpose of an x reader. I don't care if it's oc x character story, have fun enjoy but for the love of God don't tag it as x reader please. I get wanting more people to see your stories but it's irritating to click on a fic that is tagged x reader and get two paragraphs in and the 'reader' has a name. You don't see honest to go x reader writers tagging their stuff x oc, so why are you doing it.

And don't come at me saying 'well there's extensions you can use to switch out the names' or 'if you don't like it don't read it' , because one I don't read it if I know from the start it's not truly an x reader and second not everyone uses a computer to read. I use my phone to read and there ain't no extensions for the app that do anything like that.

If you really want to post your OC fic in the x reader tag it's not hard to use Google docs to search out every mention of your OC's name and replace it with y/n.

Just for the love of God stop cross tagging oc fics with x reader it's annoying and bogs down the tags making it harder to find the real x reader fics that people work just as hard on.

Giyuu giving Mitsuri his haori when he saw her uniform and Obanai getting jealous like—“Hey, Mitsuri, I think Tomioka really likes his haori so you can have mine and give his back.” just so Mitsuri will praise him, saying thank you and how close friends Giyuu and Obanai must be and Obanai glaring at Giyuu like—Yeah, we’re besties, now nod or I’ll kill you—just so Obanai can see Mitsuri in his haori now and when she got her uniform tailored back, his haori smelled like flowers and sakura mochi and honey for a while until Sanemi forced him to wash it.

So, I've seen a Twitter thread making the rounds about Yuichirou being in the right for not trusting Amane which you can read here. Overall, I think it nicely covered why Yuichirou was so "mean" to her: a strange woman shows up at their home trying to recruit two vulnerable 11-year-old boys who just lost their parents. She starts talking about demons and them being descended from swordsmen and being able to save people and in Muichirou's hopeful little heart it strikes a chord.

But Yuichirou says that he's certain she's just going to use them, that she's plotting something, which, from a story telling perspective, is an interesting seed to plant in the viewers mind.

What I mainly want to focus on in this thread is Kagaya Ubuyashiki, as he is the one who ultimately sends Amane to recruit the Tokitou twins (though, yes, she is complicit in the recruitment of child soldiers. The average age of soldiers in 1912 Japan was 17-20 not 11).

Putting aside that he ends up recruiting Muichirou anyway after he's made almost impossibly more vulnerable (just lost his last remaining family, critically injured, just lost his memories and also, once again, an 11 year old CHILD being coerced by an adult into fighting mythical monsters) Kagaya has a way of appearing to the Hashira at their most vulnerable moments to recruit them (aside from Rengoku who was basically born and raised into the role which is a whole other can of worms).

Another thing I'd like to point out is the cruelty and impracticality of final selection, something that is exemplified perfectly with Sabito. How many slayers with the potential to do something great's lives were wasted in final selection? Considering the sheer amount that goes in and how few come out and the lack of any kind of age limit, I'm going to guess quite a few. Why exactly is the system set up like this?

They essentially set up a demon buffet featuring children as the main course. Did they know about the demon growing out of control on the final selection grounds? Most likely, and if not that's highly irresponsible to not at least monitor your supposed testing grounds.

Why not have them fight against other, higher-level slayers? If they fail the test, they'd be sent back into training or dismissed entirely instead of just... killed. And Ubuyashiki seems fine with this! And I'm truly curious- he mentions memorizing the names of every slayer that dies in the line of duty, but does that include the dozens of people that don't even get to become official slayers because they die in the very baffling final selection meat grinder?

I'm getting off track.

What I mean is that Ubuyashiki is shown to have questionable moral decision-making when it comes to the pursuit of defeating Muzan: it seems his goal is to kill Muzan at all costs.

Later, Muzan says this: "That schemer! Like a viper, his rage and hatred toward me... was coiling inside his pitch-black heart!"

As the viewer we're, of course, meant to take this with a grain of salt. We know Ubuyashiki didn't have a "pitch-black heart," but I think there's a grain of truth to be found in Ubuyashiki harboring rage and hatred toward Muzan.

We know the reason the Ubuyashiki clan started to hunt Muzan in the first place was to save themselves from the curse (and along the way I think they genuinely believed it was for the greater good as well).

But I think it sets Ubuyashiki up as the perfect morally ambiguous foil to Muzan. Yes, he is supposed to represent humanity, but what is more human than the endless moral struggle between the greater good and what's right for the individual? Ubuyashiki points out that in the thousands of years of Muzan's existence, the corps has never been wiped out but this is because the corps inherently preys on those who are at their most vulnerable. It is built on the back of tragedy.

Everything down to even just their life span is meant to be equal but opposite from Muzan's immortality to the Ubuyashiki's ephemeral life spans. Even their clothing choice, with Muzan picking darker colors and Ubuyashiki clad in white. Muzan is beautiful and unmarred while Kagaya is consumed by the curse of their bloodline yet their appearance is described as "twin-like" in the Kimetsu extras. Yet they are also equal, once again returning to their supposedly identical features, they both have a tendency to appear to those that serve them at their most vulnerable.

This is not a "Kagaya is evil" post at the end of the day. This is a "Kagaya is not a morally pure character and that's a good thing" post. And, I think, had the author had more time, they would have explored this fully. We all know the ending was a tad bit rushed due to the author having a family emergency and I will never blame them for that, but just looking at the story they built even on that time crunch I can only imagine they narrative they could have built given unlimited time.

I feel like they could have explored Kagaya's character more which they set up as being Muzan's equal but opposite: equally scheming but thankfully on humanity's side. He had empathy for the children, yes, but he still, at the end of the day, used people at their most vulnerable to do what he couldn't on his own.

And I didn't even get to START on the implications of his magical "voice" and foresight powers, but this post is already so long that I'm gonna end it here.

TLDR: Ubuyashiki is so much more complex than your stock "Greater good" character. He's Muzan's equal but opposite force, conniving but empathetic, morally ambiguous. Had the author had more time, I feel this would have been explored in more depth.

Based on my last post I mentioned how often this fandom sees giyuu as more feminine than sanemi which is pretty weird due to fact he is barely feminine? Like what is feminine abt him? His long hair which he literally cuts short in the end?? Maybe due to fact he is more "elegant" than sanemi might seem that he is more feminine but from what stuff I found abt sanemi's character is the fact he has a lot of feminine characteristics from his name to his backstory and even stuff he eats

sanemi's name might be considered feminine due to fact most japanese names that end with -suffix mi are often female names or the fact you can take out this kanji meaning increasingly, all the more 弥 (he shares this kanji with genya but they are read differently) out of sanemi's name 実弥 and put this kanji 美 (this kanji is also used in sanemis younger sister's name sumi) meaning beauty, beautiful, pretty and is spelled the same way the mi part in sanemi's name

I mentioned his favorite food being feminine why? It's due to fact liking sweets in japan as a man is considered to be childish and a feminine thing

His backstory in general is in many people's words oldest daughter coded due to fact sanemi help his mother with raising his little siblings and had to cook and clean for them or even having to get a job at an young age. Due to fact his mother was often pregnant he probably had to be the one who did the most housework

When it comes to his appearance sanemi is often said to have his mother's kind smile that all of his siblings really liked. He obviously has long eyelashes and he in general has chuubier cheeks. It was also mentioned in the story how he smells like ohagi and matcha. He most likely takes after his mother's height and I can already hear people going "But he is only one cm shorter than his brother" first of, men stop growing at 21, the fact genya is already taller than sanemi while being 16 means he still has room for more, secondly we already know how in most anime and manga heights are not done well, like there is a panel where genya looks taller than sanemi atleast for 5-6 cm so either sanemi or genya are lying about their height. Last thing which ufotable has stolen from us is sanemi's pinkish hair in manga, like yeah pink wasn't considered a feminine colour in that time period but now it is so I had to mention it

Also sanemi is often described as an kind and bashful person in the manga by multiple people in the story like c'mon people, why is he often written as an aggressive macho dude in most fics I'm tiredd

Another day rant-

(not an analysis, just my boring take and bad grammar cos I suck at english.)

People don't seem to care much on the difference about SaneGiyu and GiyuSane and saying they don't care about the role they just want to see these two goofballs together. Which, ofc it's cute, common. But why I see such a big difference between Sngy and Gysn is because sngy is so off character to me. This is mostly on the shippers, most of them mischaracterize both of them, and when confronted about it, they just either cuss you out or don't care at all and with continue to mischaracterize them (happened to me). Which is wrong, isn't it? SaneGiyu just feels like a whole different ship where people just took the name and the design of the characters and paste it a whole completly different personality and call it canon. This happens a lot, most of the SaneGiyu stuff you see is Giyuu being a twink and Sanemi with big bad boy who has no good intentions. It's really really rare to see people keeping them canon and thank God, I came across two or three artist who ACUTELY keep both the characters in their character, with or without smut.

To be fair, I will always pick GiyuSane over SaneGiyu. SaneGiyu became so bad to me that my day gets ruined when I see it, I fr cried when I saw Giyuu on the trailer of season four, cos I damn knew the fandom was gonna do some stupid shit with that horrible redesign. 😭 (yes,I'm a season 1 Giyuu truther, come at me, I dare you).

SaneGiyu mostly is focused on Giyuu's POV and people mostly exaggerate his personality and past trauma a lot which makes people think, this version they have a Giyuu is actually his character, which is not. While GiyuSane is mostly focused on Sanemi's POV, because, unlike Giyuu who's a simple person and doesn't have a problem with being vulnerable, actually has a lot of things people can prospect on which in the fandom, is tossed aside because they already got this image of Sanemi in their head from season 1 and some do not even want to believe other wise and will continue to push that Sanemi is this horrible person.

There's a lot of messed up SaneGiyu stuff out there, mostly the people shipping it are Giyuu fans, and want him to be this submissive, feminine, twink who needs protection all the time, and who else to be that person but the aggressive over protective scar boy Sanemi who can't catch a break, calm down, not be on alarm 24/7 who actually needs to feel that protection, but will never admit it or even realize that he needs to be vulnerable.

GENYA ‘N SANEMI

a/n: analysis of the shinazugawa brothers. manga spoiler warning !

i’ll go over the symbolism of the brother’s colour pallet, and and give an analysis of their anger.

The symbolism of the colour pallet of the shinazugawas brothers.

Sanemi is the sole member of the Shinazugawa family that has white hair. White signifies purity, cleanliness, and sincerity. The allusion of sanitation could refer to his subsequent strong desire to cleanse the world of the evil known as 'demons'.

With black holding overtones of evil, mourning and death, Sanemi also being the only individual to not hold the colour could allude to the reality that he is the only one in his family who has lived.

As i previously referenced, whilst Genya's hair hue may predict his subsequent demise, it could also represent his ability to momentarily shift into a demon— He embodies the flesh of the evil in the world.

The Shinazugawa brothers possess violet eyes. Purple is recognised to signify ambition. This could represent their great desires— Sanemi seeks to eradicate demons, whereas Genya aspires to be stronger and receive his older brother's approval.

The reason to anger of the shinazugawa brothers.

Nothing indicates that the Shinazugawa brothers had always been inherently angry. There appears to be a cause to it.

Though there had been an incident in the Half-Winged Butterfly novel that Genya had lost his temper, it appeared to be an act of impulse. He would later cower, implying regret to his conduct.

It's facile to imagine Sanemi's rage stemmed from his extreme loathing of demons. He had spent (an estimated) five to six years slaughtering demons with the gardening implements he had acquired, neglecting other matters. Perhaps emotions of anger had grown to be his normalcy?

Though, it seems as Sanemi's excessive animosity has harmed his relationship with Genya.

However, Genya's rage is not as easy to comprehend. I have numerous theories to it.

It's possible that Genya is mirroring Sanemi. He feels that acting on anger is a symbol of strength. After all, that's how his brother behaves. (It wouldn't be unreasonable given how much he cherishes Sanemi.)

However, Genya's rage could also stem from negligence.

According to the field of neuroscience, children with a history of emotional neglect are 1.3 to 2 times more likely to experience issues with anger. Even though negligence is never directly stated, we can infer that Sanemi spent the majority of his time concentrating on demons.

In addition, we are aware that Sanemi detested the notion of Genya becoming a demon slayer. If he was taking care of Genya properly, How could he have allowed him to proceed to the final selection?

I enjoy ranting about these two. If there is anything else you would like me to cover, I will gladly do so.

I'm sorry but can we give the 'Kny female characters are sexualized' discussions a rest, like yes we can see their boobs and thighs yes, yes, yes, we get it already! 🙄🙄🙄

I came across this twitter thread talking about it and funnily enough when someone talked about male characters also revealing skin, surprise surprise they made excuses for them saying some bullshit about Sanemi's shirt battle tactics and Inosuke's sensory issues like what????

Now we've gotten to the point where we're now excusing male characters and shaming female characters for doing the exact same thing? Is that what we're doing? Really?? What is it about KnY female characters that makes people suddenly turn puritan???

Like can we move on? And talk about something else? Can we stop judging our female characters by their appearance but instead by their relevance in the story, goals, depth and character development? Is that so hard?

I've never seen a fandom filled with so much self-hatred as the KnY fandom, like just go watch JJK then where the female characters are absolutely useless but hey at least they're reasonably dressed.
