G-g-g-gulp!! Prom night at Wet-Dry High is TOMORROW, and I still don't have a date! I wish I could ask Destiny Del Vecchio, the most popular girl in school, but there's no way she'd ever go out with a nerd like me!!

Thank god I have you, Spikey, my best friend from chess club! Nerds like us ought to stick together, I say!

What's that? You say you know a way to infiltrate Destiny Del Vecchio's social circle? No way! I think you're nuts! But well, it wouldn't hurt to try, I guess...

(Later that day...)

Excuse me, are you the guy they call... "the informant"...? The one who knows all about everyone in school?

"Heh, depends who's asking!"

Um, I'm a friend of Spikey's? I need your help! How can I get Destiny Del Vecchio to like me so I can take her to prom?

"Heh, I usually charge 30 bucks for a juicy piece of info like that, but a friend of Spikey's is a friend of mine! The key to Destiny Del Vecchio's heart is easy- everyone knows she can't resist a bad boy!"

I see! Thank you so much! I really owe you one!

"Heh, don't mention it! By the way, would you like to check out my YouTube channel? I do some pretty sweet prank videos!"

Phew! I did it! Now that I've totally reinvented my image as a bad boy, Destiny Del Vecchio is totally gonna want to go to prom with me for sure!

Look, there's Destiny Del Vecchio right now, with her friends! Excuse me ladies, may I have a moment?

Hey Destiny Del Vecchio, baby! I'm a total bad boy now, so whaddaya say you and I go to prom together, baby?

"I'm sorry, but I have to decline. It offends me that you think I'm shallow enough to only judge people based on appearance. I'm sure we could have gotten along if you hadn't distanced yourself from others due to your perceived social status, but it's too late now. Relationships take time to blossom."

"Besides, I've already agreed to go to prom with the hottest guy in school, Teen Mario! He's so cute! Squeeeeeee!"

Aw, shucks! Looks like someone beat me to the punch, so I've learned no lessons from this situation whatsoever. Hey, there's always next year, right? Right? I don't actually know if prom is every year. Am I right?

What's that? You say YOU still want to go to prom with me...?

Gee willikers! I've finally learnt the True Meaning of Prom, and it was friendship all along! I couldn't have realized this without you, Spikey! Looks like this story had a happy ending after all! Now, LET'S BOOGIE!!!

imagine how used to eddie jaime gets, like i totally imagine him going to do a favor for his gay uncles and he lets eddie tag along with him and jaime introduces his boyfriend and he’s this really tall, really buff, literal fetch me their souls type demon creature, booster would be terrified and more so with paco and brenda, they’re absolutely baffled by jaime’s taste in men and find him terrifying but jaime even more terrifying because hes seemed to have forgotten how scary his boyfriend looks

Luigi followed the princess down the pier, hands clasped nervously in front of him as he tried to keep a respectful distance. He was unsure what to say, where to begin. He knew if he and Destiny ever came across each other again things would be a little different… …but not this different. “Destiny, I-”

“Ah ah ah! It’s Daisy now!” the princess corrected, still carrying a tiny hint of that thick Brooklyn accent.

“... Daisy,” Luigi corrected himself. “I’m so sorry I didn’t recognize you back there, I-” “Hey! It’s been seven years, hasn’t it?” Daisy assured, arms spread wide in a friendly gesture, “Besides, I’ll bet this is the last place you expected to run into an old classmate, eh?”

“No kidding.” Luigi rubbed the back of his neck. “But it’s not just that… it’s... well, if you’d told me back then that you were going to grow your hair out, wear dresses, and change your name back to ‘Daisy,’ I’d have thought you were teasing me.” Luigi hoped she didn’t take offense in the observation. She didn’t. Daisy let out a laugh; that loud, hearty, genuine laugh that Luigi so greatly admired. “‘You disappointed?” “No no no! Just surprised! You look good!... you look really good.” Luigi emphasized his admiration in almost a whisper, reexamining his old crush in the flattering golden light of sunset that made her flowery dress and thick auburn hair shimmer like the ocean waves behind her. “I’m just wondering why.”

“C’mon Luigi, I’m no psychologist! I just like what I like when I like it, y’know?” Luigi suspected there was more to it than that. He allowed a silence to rest between them, giving Daisy time to ruminate before she, inevitably, kept talking. “I dunno, back in our world I felt like I had to carve away every girly part of me to get any sort of respect. I guess I worried so much about not being stereotyped that I wasn’t ever truly myself, y’know?”

Luigi nodded. He suspected as much. He understood the feeling of being perceived as something lesser the instant he showed any hint of being soft and feminine. They somewhat understood each other in that sense... it was part of how Luigi recognized her strong love for flowers, despite her efforts to bury it beneath black leather, metal spikes and loose fitting flannel. Back then, he had taken up a habit of handing her little bunches of sill-grown asters (in secret, of course, so as not to ruin her image.) When his little porch garden wasn’t in bloom, it was home made treats instead... muffins, cupcakes, and cookies, wrapped in cellophane or parchment paper. Daisy's sweet tooth was something she couldn’t keep secret if she wanted to, so she attempted to put a punk rock spin on it– holding lollipops in her teeth like cigarettes and sticking chewed gum to the lockers of anyone she didn’t like. Baked goods she ate with an aggressiveness that was almost comical, baring her teeth and biting down hard, like there was some sort of inherent, mockable "softness" in the simple act of eating a muffin. She never told Luigi “thank you” for these gifts, but always plucked them eagerly from his hand whenever they were offered. She was the type who would say it if she didn’t want something, loud and proud, so Luigi was fairly confident that his efforts were appreciated. In return, on the rare occasions Mario wasn’t by his side, Destiny Del Vecchio was there, feeding him compliments and threatening anyone who looked at him wrong with a swift trip to the emergency room. Luigi kicked his feet as he reminisced, a small blush spreading across his face. “You seem to be really happy here.”

“Mmmhm,” Daisy assented with a nod. Before anything else could be said, she doubled back and took Luigi by the arm, hurriedly ushering him in another direction. “C’mon!” She cheered, “There’s a great patisserie near the docks! You can show them how to make a proper Italian cream cake, I’ve been craving those bad boys since the day I got here!” 

Luigi couldn’t help the large smile that crept across his face. So she did like them! She never said so before... Luigi straightened his cap with his free hand as he hurried to keep up with the excited princess. “Yes, your highness!” he said in a teasing tone, earning him a lighthearted nudge from his old friend.

“Ooh, none of that you big goofball!” she chided with an equally lighthearted giggle. “To you, it’s just Daisy.”
