Como Ch F: Gabriel Debru def. Ignacio Buse 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 Match Stats
📸 ATP official website
I. Buse raised his level in the second set and almost broke back in the eighth game of the third set, but G. Debru's rediscovering of his aggression paid off as he ended the said game with a massive hold, neutralizing the former's baseline game before finally hitting even cleaner at the end. With some intuitive battles going on in this match as well, G. Debru nailed it perfectly as he volleyed his way to winning the match, which also contributed in the optimization of his chances as he converted 5 out of 8 break points, despite having 3 less chances to break than I. Buse's 11.
Besides, even though it looked like a tiny difference between them, G. Debru's service game appeared more stable throughout the match. Scoring 2 aces, he won 4% more first serve points than I. Buse, which helped him nailing more pressure points on his serve. Somehow, even though both players did not double fault at all, I. Buse's second serves appeared more vulnerable as he could only win 40% of his second serve points, 6% lesser than G. Debru's 46%.
This marked G. Debru's second Challenger title of this year (and his career), propelling his rank to 272 by the end of the tournament. On the other hand, this might not be I. Buse's sole Challenger-level final as many more will come as long as he can maintain this level of progress. To make it even more interesting, I. Buse's first-round match in Genoa Challenger will have wild card Jacopo Berrettini at the other side of the net, where their groundstrokes' consistency will be put into another test. The future is even brighter with them.

#NextGenATP teens Tien, Debru among youngest Challenger champions of 2024
#NextGenATP Learner Tien and Gabriel Debru will not soon forget their Sunday triumphs on the ATP Challenger Tour. The American Tien claimed the Cranbrook Tennis Classic in Michigan while Debru won on home soil at the Internationaux de Tennis de Troyes, becoming two of the three youngest champions on the ATP Challenger Tour this year.
Tien, 18, needed a deciding set in all five of his matches,…
During the deciding set, G. Debru rediscovered the aggression that carried him in the first set, but it had more intensity that helped him through some crucial moments. To start, in the third game, G. Debru fired an intuitive backhand pass to set himself a point ahead before breaking early to 2-1 only to be broken back (2-2) after I. Buse created his break point through his forehand winner.
Several moments after, G. Debru fumbled one of I. Buse's game points through his working volley before the latter's failed smash confirmed the break to 3-2. The Frenchman then smoothly consolidated their point to 4-2. The Peruvian then tried to redirect from the baseline, which created some of his break points through a forehand down-the-line winner, as well as his backhand one, but G. Debru's massive hold confirmed his solid level to 5-2. Ultimately, G. Debru turned out to have a match point, which was immediately converted thanks to a brilliant volley finish to take the third set 6-2, as well as winning his second Challenger title for this year.
