One thing I really love whenever I see it in fic is Phoenix having suburban drama with the parents at Trucy's school. Because he is exactly that kind of petty bitch. Somewhere in japanifonia there is a woman called Deborah who has been engaging with Phoenix in more intense psychological warfare than he ever had with Kristoph.

When Edgeworth finally moves in everyone expects it to stop because people tend to think of him as being Phoenix's handler but in reality he just makes it infinitely worse because Edgeworth is even fucking more of a petty bitch except he's also a complete fucking snob who knows exactly how to cut them in the exact way that hurts. Phoenix will insult their parenting style, Edgeworth will insult their wine pairing, do you understand what I'm getting at?

Cal's like 6'2" and wears a lot of green and brown. She spends a lot of time hanging out with animals or hiding in trees when she's not working! He's honestly living his dream job but literally no one except his boss, his sibling, and his moms believe that. She just kinda looks mad all the time bc her resting face is a bit of a frown.

Also he's autistic ! Cal and Kal are autism adhd solidarity. Kalyani talks a Lot, Callistus doesn't, and every time they're on a job together, people think Kalyani is bugging Cal. They're not. Callistus is super invested in all of the stories ever. She just also really loves her job and doesn't make many expressions.

<3 I haven't gotten to play Cal yet, but he's one of those characters I have fully developed and ready to go at the drop of a hat. One of my dnd groups do oneshots every now and then with different dms each time because we're all super invested in storytelling, so we have our main campaign (the one with Oskar), and then the oneshots! We've only done one so far, but we have another one on monday! That one's gonna have Deborah in it!

To Anon from the other day, I rewatched it! The cheating storyline was annoying but not as immensly disappointing as I first remembered. Maybe now as an adult I can better understand her. Her feelings of yearning and isolation, and then being so overwhelmed at finding genuine romantic love. Her making a dumb decision when someone else showed interest but then immediately regretting it. Learning the hard way how to love and be loved.

Colter's handlers send him to Klamath Falls, Oregon, to investigate the disappearance of 14-year-old Gil Brown who is suspected to have been taken by his birth dad with a criminal background.

An easy-to-follow procedural with a likeable cast. A bit cheesy at times but knows it is. A competent pilot episode and a change of pace from recent watches. Bonus points for his managers (?) being two older, dog-loving, married lesbians.

Movie Review...Judas and the Black Messiah

(No Score…just thoughts) Tragedy, continued tragedy…seems to be the way all these stories end.  My first thought and reaction, all though overall speechless, was simply thank you, thank you Fred Hampton. What the film decided to depict, the story they decided to tell made me initially upset. These frustrations no doubt came from my own biases, lack of knowledge and naïveté. I’m constantly in the middle, constantly grey…yelling why can’t we all just get along. When I am constantly shown why (we are still singing we shall overcome in 2021). 

I found myself getting upset with Hampton simply because this depiction seemed one dimensional.  Then I had to step outside of myself and think for a second.  What if that was really him, at least at this point in his life. What if at his young age he found his purpose undoubtedly and lived just that? And then there was the moment, or a scene, where I felt a different facet of him just for him to be later murdered. Even though his legacy is living on you can’t help but wonder beyond the years of 21 how he would have evolved?  The other two characters I want to talk about is William O’Neal (“Judas” played by Lakeith Stanfield) and the FBI agent (played by Jesse Plemons).

I have been checking for Lakeith for a minute now, ever since Crown Heights. He is one of our best.  The last scene In the movie, where they display the actual footage of the O’Neal PBS interview is proof of Lakeith’s skill in his portrayal. In the short clip, O’Neal’s character can instantly be described as “dodgy.”  The way his moves his eyes, his movement in the chair, the vague and unsure way he answers the question asked.  As mad as I want to be at this man; after learning about his suicide it hurt my heart just as well.  We were introduced to O’Neal lying and stealing so his integrity is probably something he never had allowing him to do the things that he did.  Integrity is something that the last character I want to mention, traded in or used as currency for advancements in his career.  The FBI agent was initially doing his job but once confronted with circumstances that went against his oath and integrity, he was easily swayed to maintain the status quo whether it was legal or not.      

I am heartbroken to be honest after watching this movie.  There has to be something beyond, in this world, being a prisoner of duality.  Us vs Them, Black vs White, Peace vs War…etc. It still feels like all of our stories whether we our revolutionaries or sleeping paramedics still end with a bullet.

 FBI informant William O'Neal infiltrates the Illinois Black Panther Party and is tasked with keeping tabs on their charismatic leader, Chairman Fred Hampton. A career thief, O'Neal revels in the danger of manipulating both his comrades and his handler, Special Agent Roy Mitchell. Hampton's political prowess grows just as he's falling in love with fellow revolutionary Deborah Johnson. Meanwhile, a battle wages for O'Neal's soul. Will he align with the forces of good? Or subdue Hampton and The Panthers by any means, as FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover commands?

You could say we’ve taken this too far. You could be right. You could also say that, for a Line of Duty fan attempting to solve the Jo Davidson family mystery, it’s useful to know that Tommy Hunter was 13 years old when Jo Davidson was born, making him more likely to be her brother than her father. Or that John Corbett was born two months after Jo Davidson, making it impossible for his mother Anne-Marie McGillis to also be her mother.

And then there are the real questions, such as: the day before AC-12 raided Hillside Lane Station in series six, it was Kate Fleming’s 35th birthday. Did she bring in doughnuts? Had Kate come in worse for wear from one too many glasses of white in Frederico’s with Jo? The people demand to know.

The Mosley Review: Judas and The Black Messiah

Films like these are great to see and are especially hard to take in. Even though they are based on true events, they are dramatized a bit. Some try to glorify one side of the political spectrum while trying to villainize the revolutionary voices fighting against a system that is corrupt. Very few focus on the fact that the war on each other is pointless and how we should be treating each other as equals. This film was based on the most violent and dangerous times for the black community and I loved that it showed both sides of the race war and not just the violence. It portrayed the loud, righteous, peaceful and proud voices of a nation that needed to be heard and the tyranny of those that wished to silence them. Films like Malcom X and Selma showed the lives of great men and focused on their climb to become legends, but this film shares the focus between Fred Hampton and his disciple William O' Neal. This was a powerful story not only about one of the greatest black voices of America, but its also the story of one of the worst traitors in history.

LaKeith Stanfield has consistently been a delight to watch on screen and as William "Bill" O'Neal, he was fantastic. Throughout the film, you see Bill's inner conscience constantly torturing him as he is fighting between devotion to the Black Panther Party and following the orders given to him by the FBI. It is truly heartbreaking to see him betraying the people he does care about and amazing to see the pain and guilt portrayed Stanfield. Jesse Plemons was equally great as his FBI handler Roy Mitchell. Jesse is great at playing the welcoming and non threatening friend and he was perfect when he finally has to put his foot down. He knows he has to follow orders and the orders he gives, but there is a moment where he doesn't quite agree with them and I liked that we saw that he wasn't completely heartless. Martin Sheen was despicable and the face of tyranny as FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. There are many stories that have portrayed him as a hero, but this was definitely one of the most evil portrayals I've seen. Darrell Britt-Gibson was great as the Co-Founder of the Chicago Black Panther Party Bobby Rush and Dominique Thorne was strong and dangerous as Black Panther member Judy Harmon. Dominique Fishback delivers a charming and strong performance as Deborah Johnson. She portrays Fred Hampton's girlfriend and as the story progresses, you see their chemistry shine bright and her passion for the chapter solidify. Daniel Kaluuya was unbelievable as the chairmen of the Chicago Black Panther Party. He was a man of passion, knowledge, peace and above all, the people. You see how much power he has over the people that follow him and how much he loved and respected each member. Daniel delivers an Oscar worthy performance with such gravitas and elegance. Definitely one of his best yet.

The score by Mark Isham & Craig Harris was excellent, rightfully jazzy at points and punctuates the more tense scenes of the film. The cinematography was gorgeous and sometimes gave the film a grittier feel while keeping the world vibrant at times. Director Shaka King has made a great, powerful and enlightening film about a peaceful revolutionary man that wanted to do nothing but support his neighbors and community, no matter the color of their skin. There are many films about the race wars of the past, but this one actually humanizes a leader of a movement that is still relevant to this day. I loved this film and I can't recommend it enough.
