assisted suicide tw !!
What would a medicine cat do for assisted suicide? Deathberries in canon seem to be a painful death, though quick… I want to minimize suffering as much as possible, but deathberries or drowning seem to be the only option. Is there anything that kills quicker or less painfully?
apologies for the out of the blue question, I know you’ve done a lot of research on what fauna are found in England, so you seemed like the best person to ask. It’s for a rabies plotline in a RP!
I actually spoke about euthanasia once before if you want the long answer! I went into why exactly I'm not including it in my own rewrite, I think you might find a lot of value in this post because I explain a lot of detail behind my choices, if you want to go in the opposite direction.
But in summary, the effects of deathberry/yew poisoning in-canon are actually more consistent with nightshade/belladonna poisoning! Realistically, the taxine in yew berries attacks the heart. Those horrible convulsions suggest the neurological damage of nightshade.
Best way to do a euthanasia in warrior cats is poppy seed to soothe, and then yew to stop the heart. I would recommend making a tea of yew to make it easier to drink, but in your case, your warriors would skip that step. A massive side effect of rabies is hydrophobia and the inability to drink liquids.
