One fun thing about writing smut where the POV Character is someone like Dean Winchester is it lets you play a little game where you subject your readers to really unappealing yet very in character phrases during sex scenes. And you're writing it like "Dean no!" but the characterization is such that you just know he'd at least pepper in words like jizz instead of restricting himself to only the word come.

The Freaky Angel Sex series is probably the example of this I'm most proud of. That version of Dean belongs in horny jail.

Rooting for characters to be good for good’s sake is boring. I’m real so I have to be good for good’s sake which is okay, but fuck if I need my characters in made up realities that don’t exist to be good even when the world is bad to them or they have the opportunity to be more interesting as monsters or tyrants or just straight up assholes. Ship people who are toxic. Fuck monsters. Kill people. Have fun. It’s fiction, that’s the point. Do what you have to do to be a good person in the real world who doesn’t do shitty things to other people or support people who do shitty things.

Re: the blatant but objectively WEIRD tension between dean & ketch-

I feel like their sexually tense, deep hatred for each other stems from like.... dean's weird desire for toxic masculinity bumping up against his need not to be needed by other people.

At this point dean is recognizing his feelings for cas, who represents a much softer, nurturing form of male intimacy. Cas who wants and needs him- which scares the shit out of dean.

Every time cas dies dean is 100% devastated. He's broken, and he's already lost so many men he deeply loved at this point- romantically and/or platonically. You've gotta imagine that carnally desiring someone he doesn't have to worry about dying- someone he actively wants to kill- must be very theraputic.

Bonus content:

On the flip side, for ketch- who has obviously caught the kind of feelings for mary winchester that he's never experienced before in his life- his relationship with dean is much more straight forward. It's simple, it's safe. It's based in the kinds of manipulation and social chess moves that he's built his entire life on.

There's none of the obvious uncertainty or vulnerability we've seen him display with mary.

I almost feel like being close to dean is a way that ketch can be close to mary that doesn't make him feel confused or weak. The two are obviously linked in his mind ("you're both killers"), and he seems to be drawn to them for similar reasons.

But at this point mary has undeniably shown that she doesn't need ketch, and this has obviously hurt him. Ketch- a weapon- can still be useful to dean. Dean who hates him but is willing to work with him, who can't hurt him.

Acknowledging and ignoring the fact that Ketch was an awful person (pushed to be by awful people) in that one episode where he spent time with Dean (I think 13.18?) he acted more concerned and father-like than John ever did and this both upsets me as a human and interests the HELL out of me because (i dont rmb the british men of letters arc well so sorry if im wrong here) i didnt really see ketch as caring for Dean until that episode? Sure they worked a job or two together but he was never caring. And maybe it was selfish and only so Ketch wasn't alone in the AU but the amount of fatherly vibes i got from that moment was insane, and i never ever caught that from John, never caught a caring or healing aspect of John.

The fact that Dean does not SMOOCH Ketch at some point is proof that this show learned nothing from Crowley’s character arc. Dean likes his murder boys. He likes guys that kill people.
