Supernatural fic thoughts in my head

Have you guys seen Overly Sarcastic Productions episode about Loki?

Has anyone written a Gabe fic where he is that version of Loki?

The trickster guardian of the hearth and home.

Pretend for a second that spn doesn’t have an Actual Loki who traded identities with Gabe.

Let’s say he came to earth to scape all the family disgrace happening upstairs and just traveled for a bit. His domain as an Archangel was The Messenger but… there is no one to send news now… so he falls back in his other domain.

God’s Judgment.

Michael may be the supposed “Archangel of Justice” but the actual job of passing judgement felt into Gabe’s shoulders.

He who mingled most with man, who had a body of his own made so he could deliver the news eye to eye to the listeners, who talked to them and spread the word of his Godly Father, who knew their prayers and desires and wishes . He was the one Dad dearest chose to give the final say.

Michael may be the sword but it was Gabriel who pointed the target.

Or at least it was supposed to be him.

But then the fight happened. The book of revelations was written and daddy was gone…

Why would Justice listen to Judgment when the patch ahead was already predetermined and the final verdict was already made?

So Judgement left. He was just Gabriel now. Sometimes he felt like he was not even that anymore.

So he took a new name.

Entangler.

Loki.

He would pass his judgment as he was made to do, and hey what was the problem if he had a little laugh in the process?

So he played tricks on the rotten. Worser the crime, deadlier the prank.

Some people deserved to have all their socks turn mysteriously wet.

Other people deserved their feet cut off.

If he was getting deadlier and deadlier with each punishment, the act fueled by his resentment, his anger, his heartbreak…

Well that was for him to know and his Dad to ignore with each unanswered prayer.

Then, some century later, he met the Aesir in their prime.

He met Odin.

Blood brothers. Perhaps sharing your blood with another supernatural entity was a bad idea. The boost that alone gave to the one eyed trickster should have concerned him.

But he was so… so tired of being alone. One brother. That’s all that he asked. His blood (and all its properties) for a brother.

And for a time he seemed to get what he traded for and more.

A family. Disfuncional as all hell, but a family nonetheless.

Then, with the boost his blood gave him, Odin sacrificed himself to himself for power and foresight.

Then the prophecies came.

Once again! A FUCKING prophecy of dooms day was going to destroy his family ONCE AGAIN!

His children. His poor children.

Nephilim, all of them. Their grace sealed away as his own had been by his own hand to avoid recognition from one of the heavenly host.

Taken from his arms, sent away far away from his embrace, his protection.

Oh how he wished to smite them all for this. Shed the mask that was the trickster and let the Archangel burn it all down.

It has been a long time since he set fire to a city.

But he hesitated… what if…if…

…If I can change this prophecy, if I can stop Ragnarok…

I can stop the Apocalypse!

Far fetched and barely thought out was this plan but the hope it gave him could have lit up the sky for three days straight.

So he stayed his hand. He lived and learned and with what he knew about the prophecy, tried to stop the end.

Only for it to not matter.

Ragnarok came anyway and fucked everyone.

The Older Aesir, the giants, his children.

Midgard was in shambles just like almost all of its inhabitants…

When his first child died he threw away all the fucks he had.

The song was playing he liked it or not so he may as well dance!

So he gave himself fully to the bloodshed. If the Aesir were going to die, may it be by his hands.

In the end, Heimdall has the honor of killing the “Mother of Monsters”.

That was the first, and surprisingly not the last, time he faked his death.

And that was the end of the world.

Well, actually it was the end of the land that one day would be know as Scotland and Ireland, but they bounced back swiftly so really no harm done.

It was him, Baldr, the younger Aesir and those two humans over there to repopulate the land against the world now.

But humans (the ones that weren’t even aware of the bloodshed happening one continent over) still worshipped them. Gods old (and dead) and new.

His father had already proved it to him so he didn’t know why it came as such a shock.

Even when the god is not there, humans will still believe in him. Even if indirectly.

Many of the fallen gods regained their bodies through sheer force of belief alone.

The land (the part that was not regenerating itself after the worlds worst brawl) had been throughly converted to his Dad’s religion thanks to the bloody and brutal efforts of monks (with the blessing of Michael and Uriel no doubt, those dirty bitches) but the deep set beliefs, the rituals, especially the domestic ones, remained.

Children dancing around the fire to singing about him.

Spiders gently removed from homes as they were net makers just like he was and shouldn’t be bothered.

Baby teeth throw in the fire by superstitious parents asking for him to look after their babies.

And Loki, because to them he was still Loki, with his nest so violently emptied, could not say no.

So these handful of people got a guardian trickster. Generations upon generations of children, some that left the country ages ago, had a blessing upon them that tended to send the smartest of the supernatural beings away.

But he could not ward them against their fellow humans.

An university.

Her name is Mabel.

She doesn’t know about him and that is just fine.

Her grandmother had seen him once, recognized him even from her own girlhood.

“Look after my lass for me, please?”

How could he say no to that? The old Scotswoman even said please for Dad’s sake!

So he found a job. Janitor senior or something like that. A nice cover that would help him keep an eye on the young girl.

He kept doing his job as a trickster, of course! Teleporting all over the place to deliver divine punishment masquerading as pagan trickstery, but he couldn’t deny that most of his pranks didn’t leave a 50 mile radius from the university.

A jock that needed to be brought down a peg or two.

A guy from the veterinary department experimenting on the pets of his classmates so he could boost his clandestine overpriced vet appointments in the campus getting his hand eaten by a croc (he overdid that one, unfortunately. The dude died. But after seeing Mabel cry as her dog became sick out of nowhere he was not shading any tears any time soon)

And a professor who made a very nasty habit of extorting sexual favors from his female students for a better grade.

That one was more of a preventative measure as Mabel had yet to start taking his classes but the other girls in the campus were probably toasting for his broken neck so it was a job well done anyway.

Mabel was safe. His child was safe

Mabel and her family (outside of grandma Edin who had caught him all those months ago) may not worship him no more but they were HIS. To protect, to guide, to set in the right path.

He was going to make their lives a good as he could before it all went downhill.

He knows this song. Stopping it is a exercise in futility that he is not willing to try.

Sam and Dean would just have to accept as he did and join the dance.

Spn fic idea:

After Dean dies in season 15, Sam is spiraling hard, out of control. Self-harm, not eating or sleeping, you name it. Jack is super worried, but he can't keep upsetting the balance by bringing Dean back over and over. He talks with Rowena and comes up with a solution. They talk to Sam and say if he stops harming his body and tries to function and live a normal life, then for 6 hours every night, his dreams will sync up with Deans heaven. Dean stays dead so the balance remains constant, but Sam will get to talk to Dean and interact with him. But that means no self-harm, no drinking himself into a stupor, he has to eat meals, do hygiene, and be up and about during the day. If Sam doesn't, he'll lose dream!access to Deans heaven.

This propels Sam to get his shit together because he wants to see Dean each night. And now they have nothing to lose and start confessing all the secrets they were too scared to say while he was alive

When Sam finally dies, it's in his sleep, the dream connection fading into actually being there. Like a mist finally dissipating and Deans there to welcome him home to stay.

while i will always love and appreciate the bisexual dean winchester agenda, i truly believe that if he was raised differently—or maybe if he grew up today instead—that boy would have been gay. like his love for women in a romantic/sexual context was always such a caricature and was continuously used as a symbol of masculinity that played against the roles assigned to him by his father growing up for the sake of suppressing any queerness he might exhibit. now whether that suppression was purposely written into his character or was a reaction to the character they had created, i’m not sure, but it’s there regardless.

i don’t mean to dismiss the love he felt for cassie or lisa, but particularly with lisa, i’m not sure he was ever in love with her, despite the fact that he did care for both her and ben. i get so frustrated watching the end of s5 because him going to her house and his perfect “apple pie life” being with her in suburbia genuinely came out of nowhere and i’ve never understood a) why it had to happen, and b) why it had to be lisa. but thinking about it in this sense, she was the closest thing he had in his life to everything he was raised to believe he should want by one john winchester, who lost his perfect wife, perfect family, perfect apple pie life and sent all of them down this path in the first place. so of course to dean, his happy ending would be with someone like lisa. but that’s the important part. someone like lisa, not lisa herself. he may have had love for her and he may have been able to picture a life with her, but it wasn’t necessarily because she was everything he wanted; she was a symbol of the things that tore his family apart and so to be with her felt like he was finally able to put some of it back together. and that makes me so sad for him because all of that is a result of the sense of responsibility ingrained in him growing up by john, not something he wanted for himself.

but back to his general attitude towards women, there was an excellent post that said he only acts like the typical womanizer he has a reputation for being around women deemed “stereotypical” by the misogynistic perspective. otherwise, he tends to take on a fairly brotherly role; he doesn’t tend to pursue any women he can “take seriously,” and is more intimidated or impressed by them than anything else. with the exception of cassie (which was pre-series and we never got full context for in the first place), he only ever pursued women with whom he would have a definitive ending—by that i mean women who he knows he’ll never see again or who would have a clearly defined role during the time they’re together that wouldn’t threaten the status quo. and yes these could also be the traits of a commitment-phobe or someone chronically on the move, but for one, sam doesn’t tend to do the same thing (see ruby, amelia, and eileen), and for two, given the things i mentioned already, it makes me consider it more of a result of him not actually being interested in women romantically.

his reaction to women when not purposely used as the butt of a joke or to perpetuate the “womanizer dean winchester” agenda is often so innately fraternal, caring in a way that doesn’t have any expectations behind it. and when there is a romantic context, so much of the relationship can be attributed to the way john raised him and the beliefs he has as a direct result; it’s never simply been built on the foundation of love.

every time he is dismissed as this macho het guy, it also dismisses so much of what makes him a wonderful character, and yes a lot of that is his queerness. so in a world where he didn’t grow up with roles and responsibilities that shaped him into someone he knew his dad hated and forced him to create this character for himself in order to survive? i think he would have been gay and he would have been okay with that.

Jump the Shark is SUCH an interesting look at John Winchester and Sam’s & Dean’s relationships with him via how they respond to Adam’s existence both initially and after accepting that he’s really their brother !

It also just says so much about where they’re at currently—Sam seeing hunting as a life that can’t be escaped, only prepared for (because he tried to escape and now he’s facing a destiny); Dean wanting to send Adam away from the hunt to Bobby’s (the safest place he can think of) because he deserves a chance to get out, live a normal life (like Dean would have if he’d had the chance). These are themes that come up consistently as we get to the end of season four: in It’s a Terrible Life, Sam Wesson believes he’s destined for something more, while Dean Smith doesn’t believe in destiny, wanting to hold onto his normal life; in The Monster at the End of this Book, Sam believes that they should use Chuck’s prophecy to approach Lilith (to encounter their destiny) while Dean believes they should try to work around it, to avoid the fate that’s laid out for them.

And all of that is symptomatic of their current places in the overall narrative: Sam trying to take his powers and embrace them, use them for good (because they feel inescapable, and if he has to have them he wants to use them to save the world), and Dean trying to resist the plan the angels have in place for him, to push back against the future they say he’s destined for.

And they were set up for that by their destinies and by the people around them. There’s Ruby, who has acted like Sam’s friend, helping him grow strong in order to achieve her own ends, who is acting as though she’s different from the demons but who is only pushing Sam to get stronger and hunt more because it will position him where she wants. On the other side, there’s Castiel, saying he’s like the other angels but privately having doubts, beginning to feel, helping Dean find a loophole to save Sam from Lilith and beginning to try to understand humanity, to see why it deserves salvation.

And Adam’s role in all that is so interesting because by the end of the episode we know he’s dead, has been dead, unwittingly dragged into the world of hunting by John even after his death, and Dean insists on a hunters funeral even when Sam suggests asking Cas to bring him back—because in his eyes, being dead but not in the mess of the Winchester’s lives is the better option, the better place to be. (But of course, he’s ultimately dragged into it anyway, revived just to become the vessel Dean refuses to be and then locked away for it, locked away for over a thousand years)

I really really don't go out of the way to learn about bts stuff in supernatural so I have no idea if this is actually a thing, but I guarantee, GUARANTEE, that in the episode Sex & Violence, season 4 episode 14, when they were originally writing the episode the monster of the week was a succubus but once they got to the whole Sam and Dean drama of the episode they were like "hmm maybe it doesn't really fit to have this whole thing happen with a Sex demon... Oh I Know!" and they just changed the name of the monster to siren and changed exactly Nothing else in the script
